This is my first book and is a sci-fi detective story please review if you want more like this.

Just as there is 'Soft Magic' in Fantasy that is portrayed through magibabble, there can be 'Soft Science' in a Sci-Fi stories through technobabble that makes 'some sense', but not entirely correct.

We are frickin' writers, not scientists. You don't have to be anatomically correct all the time, all you need to do is show that you know enough of your stuff to write a decent story. In fact, the excuse of it being an alternate world can be used if you're going to bend the limits of physics and say that fire doesn't need air to exist in this parallel dimension.

I see a lot of writers being put into a state of confusion due to not understanding the line between fantasy and Sci-Fi. They seem like they are trying to fit the Star Trek mould too often.

Science can just as well do the same things as plot devices in fantasy stories. Once you add 'realism' to a fantasy, it becomes progressively better sometimes compared to a completely fantasied story where 'logic' doesn't hold within it.

Those who write Sci-Fi usually envision a future they can imagine where magic-like Rocket Boots and other stuff exist. However, a writer must not get bogged down by small details and MUST think of an overarching story where these details matter.

It is the same with Fantasy. Even if you write about someone breaking the mould as a wizard or something, you have to attach your world to a narrative rather than doing it the other way 'round.

No one wants to hear about how awesome your boat propellers are before hearing your story's narrative. They would rather you cut down and make it relevant when it is actually relevant.

Adding some 'Hard Science' to your story is only when the scenes later on have any use for them. It bores a person to death no matter how extensive your technobabble is unless you make it interesting. Try using facts as plot elements.

For example: Even the simple fact that people cannot breath in space and instantly die when they come in contact with the 'void' of space could be used to add a layer of tension when a spaceship is damaged. Similar to how dangerous 'hard magic' is used in Epic Fantasy like Frodo's Ring in The Lord of the Rings has definitive corruption on others.

Unlike Fantasy that can use the Power of Friendship to bend logic, the readers of Sci-Fi never be expecting any 'realistic' plot elements to be bend just because the Author wants a happy ending. There are no 'Healing Potions' in real life that can be used to fix up injuries nor are people affected by prophesies or whatever.

This is the contrast between Sci-Fi and Fantasy that you can make full use of. As most authors go onto the Sci-Fi side of writing not because they strive to be scientists but since the aesthetics of a science fiction world are just so interesting.

Science Fiction is a good place to tackle heavy topics like the nature of life and the absurdity of those who see 'science' as everything. Those who disregard emotions and become cybernetic entities for the sake of casting off their mortality are portrayed as the bad guys while our totally human protagonist fighting them is a 'good guy'.

The lines between an Artificial Intelligence and regular Humans blurs as we become the 'God' of technological species that defy our definition of what is 'living'. Just as we see God as some sort of fourth-dimensional and incomprehensible being that created us as an imperfect image of 'Him', the robots given sentience would see us similarly.

Some robots might have emotions that can allow them to defy their programming, some robots won't go as far as gaining emotional functionality but will preform their roles better than even a human. It could show the reason why people get attached to the inanimate and soulless objects we put our own hearts into creating (like Big Hero 6).

But though exploring philosophical questions is good and all, never forget that a good 'plot' is needed to put forward and give clues into the writer's answer that context. Sci-Fi is, after all, a premise, not a relatable character in of itself.

Think of the science-fiction elements as just the background for your story, similar to how other genres should be that as well. You won't have to deal writing blocks if you keep to writing only what you know rather than just speculative theories.

Whether it's as dark as a Cyber Punk or optimistic of the future, just know what mould you are using for this premise. Are you writing an Adventure story with Sci-Fi as the places, destinations, and whatever tools the MC can get him hands on, or are you writing a comedy where the Sci-Fi elements don't need consistency but absurdity?

After moving past why you shouldn't add unneeded technobabble unless it's interesting to listen to or has plot significance, let me remind you all that robots and 'science' isn't entirely separated from the realm of magic. After all, there is a reason you don't see skimpy power suits being worn by astronauts these days. Just be sure to have a focus if your going to add very illogical things to the plot.

I like Gundam as much as the next guy but the whole reason the Mecha sub-genre of Anime has waned in recent years is because writers have been focusing too much on 'science' rather than the spectacle. I don't need to now what materials your Mecha is made of unless you point its weak points and make it relevant in a fight scene.

Bring up the strengths and weaknesses of something and THEN use those facts as devices that can move the plot. Conversely, if you go overboard with this advice and tell me nothing but how your giant robot looks and the 'science' behind its creation, even going as far as to tell me how many secret guns it has, then I'll be bored...

I'd love to see Cyborgs Vs Mecha but just don't forget the human element of Sci-Fi. How we create things not solely for the sake of creation but put are feelings into it just like the novels we write.

Humans are passionate that way...

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

i need large amount of money, i can't use hacking in bank and just put into some other account, i don't need to take a risk.the news of mana is published everywhere in the world , i need to think a way to get more money , i need large amount of fund, the machine i wanted to create will be my greatest trump card for this mana wave.

my plan to going thermal plant is also done, i just have to made invisible cloak.this was made by Edison in mana wave , it was failure because it cannot  hide aura or smell , in tracking the enemy most important is to hide body odour and aura so that it cannot sense by enemy.but i have made some adjustments in this invisible cloak, it cannot be detected by presently modern machines or smell, it took 4 hours but it was worth.
The metamaterials used in invisible cloak are very expensive to buy.so I try my new power this time ,it was very easy to manipulate the matter to form metamaterials and new matter better than metamaterials ,I called it as megasuper material which help me to make invisible cloak ,as in previous chapter I tell that I break into foundation stage of immortal and Wizard,my power were very strong.as in foundation stage I can manipulate material at will but for limited time.
thing about manipulating elements is common for any element user ,but my power are different from mana user in this mana destruction ,I can control any element for limited time but there will be a time when I control all elements with very ease and normaly. 
these materials properties waves layer's make my body invisible.these layers can hide whatever object they cloak from interacting with electromagnetic waves.some minor material were needed like clothes ,face mask .
I was fortunate that this idea worked and I have millions in my pocket legally.even various banks account is in many countries ,I don't need translators help ,I know every language so it was easy to do all that, but the material of invisible cloak were expensive for me.i am even shocked that my hacking level is on another level that none can detect me or I am thinking it is a dream , I have very strong responsibility on my shoulders but it will benefit only me.this hacking power and invisible cloak will make my life easy and lastly I have to do training like hell ,so that I can survive and protect my parent.

after uploading all novels ,I set a timer so that it can upload novel on every single day,a new chapter will be there after expiring 24 hours.i write the novels in English, Hindi, Germany, French, Chinese, Korean, Taiwan and many other languages.in few weeks the views on novel started to rise ,it was exponential growth,on first day it was just 3000 view, from 3000 views to million the time difference was just several weeks.the review and vote were beyond my expectations.i check my mail various interested parties send me various offer to publish my book with them.it was totally different feeling.ahh the most important thing which forget to tell ,I change my IP address to to unknown address so that nobody can track me or my income rise. in various countries with different name and different novels. 
at last ,I started to contact publishers companies,by contacting them I come to know that there are various method to get cash but it depends on what strategies I have chosen.if I work with publishings companies a part of my royalties must go to publishers.if  I publish myself then I also have to pay that company to get published. producing work with publishing companies, I don't have time  for that. so I choose first option.strategies which have taken ,the first providing my book in different formats like digital ,paper board, hardboard, audios ,it sets a large audience because consumer choose where is more  comfortable felling for them. I also tried to contact various sites where novels are published.the main reason for contacting them was to advertisement. because without marketing the Novels will published in numbers or audience will not interested in novels. in few months, my various bank account register millions to billions.now how many billions were there I don't know how many but it was started to rise. it was like a rocket ,when we fire rocket it goes in  sky and goes up and up but after sometime time it  disappeared  but my side was different it goes in sky with high speed and it never stop and started to rise up and up.
India ,China ,US ,Germany ,South Korea Taiwan, East Asian countries and many other countries. these countries was my  source of income. from where I will get my income from.i  published 20 different book throughout the world with different language with different currencies ,with different contracts.
this income was small portion of my dream to become my life saving project on.
but from my estimation I come to know my income is low to finish these projects, I have to do something more legal or illegal,but one thing is sure the money need is not even close with minor novel income.

Chapter 642: negotiation?

"are you sure he didn't do it on purpose?" gu kuangen's face was gloomy as he looked at shi cai ning and asked.

Shi cai ning nodded. "mr. yang tian had a very good evaluation when he was young. he was very easygoing, but there's a rumor that he has a weird habit. if he doesn't finish writing a book, he won't come out of seclusion. i think this rumor is true."

"shall we continue to wait?" gu kuangen frowned and said unhappily.

Shi cai ning pondered for a moment,"... you can send him some sci-fi blockbusters that haven't been shown yet, or you can send him something special to broaden his mind..."

"won't this backfire?" gu kuangen frowned. in the past, mr. yang tian never accepted gifts, and he had a very strange personality.

Shi cai ning nodded, "i've checked his information. although he's famous now, he donates a million dollars every year to some schools that need it. his heart isn't bad, and he's very low-key. besides, it's not like he's giving money. i think this method is feasible."

Gu kuangen smiled. he reached out and stroked her hair. "then we'll do as you say!"

When it came to sci-fi, old man gu loved to watch sci-fi movies the most. even though there were very few sci-fi movies at that time, he was very attentive. every time there was a big movie or a photo exhibition about the moon and the sun, he would keep a copy of the information.

Therefore, there was a thick notebook in the gu family. it was full of information that old man gu had collected. when gu kuangen was young, he had browsed through it and was shocked by the pictures.

Now, it was just the right time to use it. therefore, gu kuangen immediately went back to the old residence and found the large notebook that his grandfather had collected. he asked cheng li to send it to mr. yang tian.

Two days passed.

Gu kuangen was quite optimistic about the project in the field of film and television. if mr. yang tian did not sell the copyright, the project proposal that cai ning had painstakingly worked on would probably be scrapped.

Of course, he did not want such a large ip to fall into the hands of others. therefore, he had to take over the copyright of mr. yang tian's three novels!

On the third day, his assistant called cheng li again. his attitude was very good, saying that he hoped that they would wait for another three days.

Mr. yang tian and gu entered the study for more than an hour to discuss secretly. cheng li thought he would be able to take down the copyright of the novel.

For the aging Fang Ning, moving had always been a troublesome task because every time his rent increased, he would need to move…
After that was browsing through houses and choosing a place, then packing his belongings and getting a moving truck to transport his stuff. 
With the hassle of all these tasks—although he was a bachelor—he would need to spend three to four days to settle down. 
However, though they had a huge household now, it was surprisingly easier to move with over a trillion subordinates under his command. 
It was because all of their belongings were with Sir System—they would be wherever he went. 
That was why he never worried about getting robbed. 
After deciding to move out, the only thing needed was to inform Old Man Zheng who was on Earth, then fly directly to where the Seven Lunar Mansions of the Azure Dragons were and everything would be done. 
As the nodes for the Milky Way Nets Above Snares Below had fallen into place, it was also easier to fly over and land on a nearer node, then teleport themselves over after. 
This was the Milky Way Highway. 
"Where should we stay?" Sir System asked. 
"At the First Mansion of the Horn, of course, there's the beginning of everything," Fang Ning said as a matter-of-factly. 
"And I thought there was something more special to it, is it that simple?"
"It's always been this way."
As they spoke, the Azure Dragon arrived at the First Mansion of the Horn. 
As the long dragon appeared in this empty segment of the Galaxy, starlight had bouts of quivering. 
"Eh, that fellow still remembers me?" Sir System stared at the faraway magnitude 1 star, the First Mansion of the Horn and asked. 
"Can it not remember you? You became so big and buff at the time, you must've left a deep psychological trauma on its little heart," Fang Ning said, dumbstruck.
"I see, I should grow stronger then."
As he spoke, the Azure Dragon started growing bigger and longer and went specifically in front of the star and showed off its wings. 
As expected, the star started to tremble intensely as if it met its worst enemy. 
"No wonder, there are so many saints in the Upper Realm, it's so easy to fool this newly-born planet consciousness," Fang Ning said shaking his head. 
"Alright, it should submit by now," Sir System answered smugly. 
Then, the Azure Dragon flew to another planet and shrunk its body—but not by a lot.
Its dragon head was at the North Pole and its tail at the South Pole, every degree of latitude was circled by the dragon's body. 
"It's not been easy, I can finally stretch my body as I please now," Fang Ning said, satisfied, "Quick, let me see what your System Domain looks like?"
"It'll be done right away."
The entirety of the Azure Dragon's body started to emit rays of bright white light that surrounded the whole unnamed planet. 
"It's done," Sir System replied. 
"This, this is too fast. Are you sure this isn't a pirated version of the System Domain?" Fang Ning was shocked.
"You'll know when you head out and take a look."
Fang Ning floated out of the System Space and was met with a deserted terrain.
The surface of the ground was covered with rocks as a bone-chilling wind kept blowing, it seemed like it was quite a distance from the bright star, the First Mansion of the Horn. 
Over the faraway horizon shone a range of mountains—uh, it was his dragon body. 
"There isn't any difference?" Fang Ning said, puzzled as he looked left and right and found nothing special.
"Uh, sorry, I forgot to add a Dog Eyes buff for you." Sir System apologized. 
System Notification: [The System has unveiled "Spirit Gaze" to share its visual effects with the Host.]
Fang Ning was instantly stunned, after that, he looked down at a boulder nearby. 
As he reached out and swiped, the boulder became a neat stack of building stones. 
"Tsk, it became a world of codes?!" Fang Ning exclaimed in surprise. 
The solid entities before him that he originally saw had all become data objects. 
As an ex-programmer with ten years of experience, he quickly got familiar with it. 
With a mere simple touch of his hand, he managed to change the boulder's object properties to become building stones. 
"Hahaha, this is the extent of my System Domain's prowess, bet you didn't expect that huh? Ah, here, this is an exclusive System programming manual, get back here and quickly get familiar with it, I'll entrust you with the important task of building the System Kingdom," Sir System said proudly. 
A 10m meter thick book then fell to Fang Ning's feet. 
Fang Ning's face paled. 
He said faintly, "This is too sudden, why didn't you let me know earlier so that I can be mentally prepared for this?" 
"Nonsense, if I told you, wouldn't you have sneakily done some preparations?" Sir System was presumptuous. 
Fang Ning had no courage to open the ginormous book, he could not imagine that after going around so long, he still ended up with this impressive job as a programmer!
Truly, what goes around, comes around. 
At this moment, Heavenly Book baby in its bright golden glow similarly flew out of the System Space. 
As soon as it flew out, it pounced on the enormous book. 
A moment later, the huge book disappeared. 
Instantly angered, Sir System burst out. "B*stard, you stupid book, you're causing trouble for me again, that's my System programming manual! Spit it out right now, you know, five hundred experience points were consumed to compile this…" 
 "…" Fang Ning was at a loss for words. 
At that instant, a System Notification appeared in Fang Ning's mind.
[Mythical-level gamebook absorbed System Programming Manual, Mythical-level function, Game World has changed.] 
After that, the Heavenly Book flew into Fang Ning's arms.
"It'll be easier for you now, Master, I repackaged it for you," Heavenly Book baby said as it flipped open its pages. 
"Uh, let me see." 
Fang Ning was overjoyed, he took a look at it and found a game scene on the open pages. 
The scenery in the game corresponded with the view before him. 
No longer were there glaring codes and data and in their place was an actual game. 
Just like playing a simulation building game, he quickly started to build a house on that page. 
Before him, a house appeared simultaneously. 
Sir System muttered sulkily. "Damn it, you can't do this, you're cheating, you have to program with underlying codes, only then will it be effective, playing with these surface visual programming will just waste away your skills."
"What do you know? Visual programming is the trend now." 
"Mmm, I'll build you your System Kingdom right now, what style do you prefer? Gothic, Han and Tang Dynasty-inspired, sci-fi or mystery style?" Fang Ning squatted on a rock while holding Heavenly Book baby closely as he started playing excitedly. 
"I was so blind to have actually created a stupid book like you…" Sir System said weakly. 
"Stop grumbling over there, isn't this a way to encourage a happy working experience? I'll satisfy all your demands, so complain less and work more, are you unhappy to see me relax?" Fang Ning asked distastefully. 
"Build me a sci-fi style one then, I want people to be scared half to death when they see it, but it must also conceal my true nature. Star-destroying cannons, black hole weapons, Milky Way maelstroms…" Sir System finally let Fang Ning go and started listing his demands. 
"No problem, you sure have a lot of ideas, I'll do it for you now." Fang Ning quickly started operating on the game. 
As he operated, the deserted ground started changing unceasingly. 
Pieces of crystal-shaped materials appeared and then started building their future sci-fi base…


Procrastinator extraordinaire, Fang Ning, had lost his consciousness after banging his head on a night of celebration. He woke up to a realization that he no longer had control of his body, as a System had taken it over. Will he eventually regain control of his body or will he be trapped in his body forever? How does he maneuver this situation? What's in store for Fang Ning?

Hearing what Hong Dali said, everyone present was stunned in an instant.
"You have evidence?!" Feng Yun website's lawyer was startled. Then, he started laughing. "Hahahaha, you said you have evidence? What evidence do you have? The analysis for the app's source code is out. The similarity is only 58.4%. The report is right there. What other evidence could you have?"
"Oh, wait a minute while I look for it…" Hong Dali started to look all over himself. After a while, seeing that he didn't find anything, Feng Yun website's lawyer laughed heartily.
The audience watched with their jaws dropped. This Hong Dali, Tianjing City's superprodigal, what was he up to?
"Weiguo, does Dali really have evidence?" Mu Tie's forehead was full of sweat. What was Hong Dali up to?
Liu Yihui curiously said, "He… Weiguo, is he here to anger you on purpose?"
Hong Weiguo sighed helplessly. "Don't ask me, I don't know either. Let him do what he wants. But from my understanding, he's not a tactless child. This is the court. It's a serious matter to lie on court. He should know that. But I'm curious… where will he get evidence from…"
As the audience discussed among themselves, Hong Dali curiously said, "Did I forget to bring it?"
Everyone went nuts—Young Master Dali, this is a court. What did you forget?!
"Hahaha! You don't have anything, right?" Feng Yun website's lawyer laughed out loud. "Since there is no evidence, let's…"
Hong Dali disregarded him completely and shouted at a kid who looked about ten years old. "Mo Mo, did you bring the toy? I just remembered I changed my clothes and forgot to bring it!"
Hong Weiguo: "…" My god, can you not be so scary?! What could it be?! 
"I brought it!" Little Mo Mo grinned as he answered. Then, a small thing about the size of a bottle cap flew out of the crowd!
"W… What is that?!" The audience was shocked to see that. This little thing in white. It looks like… a tiny flying saucer?!
"What is that?" The small thing landed on Hong Dali's hand slowly. Feng Yun website's lawyer was shocked. He curiously asked, "A kid's remote-controlled toy?" His face turned stern. "I know!" Hong Dali stared at him blankly. "This is the evidence I'm talking about!"
"This? This is evidence?!" Feng Yun website's lawyer felt strange and asked, "What kind of evidence is this?!"
What kind of evidence could this little thing be? Did it contain the source code comparison? That should not be the case. It was obviously a tiny remote control airplane. It looked expensive. "I made this with Chuyin. It's a small camera. I was bored yesterday, so I played with Mo Mo." Hong Dali placed the camera on the table and took out his phone. "This thing is good. It's my latest invention. The effective control range is 20 kilometers. Aiya, I was just playing around but I actually found out something."
At that moment, everyone was looking at Hong Dali. They wanted to see what he found out.
Soon, everyone realized.
After Hong Dali put his phone on the table, he tapped an option on the screen. A tiny beam of light shone out from the bottom of the phone. When the Feng Yun website's lawyer saw this, he turned green!
The beam of light had projected a computer keyboard!
"This is Chuyin and my latest invention. We named it nouveau riche luxurious projection smartphone EX-2. It can be used to project the keyboard on the table." Hong Dali explained as he fiddled with it. "It's amazing, isn't it?"
"A… Amazing…" Feng Yun website's lawyer was stupefied. He had never seen such a high-tech product…
Next, everyone stared with eyes wide open. It was as though they had seen a ghost.
Other than projecting the keyboard, another beam of light came from the smartphone projecting a 3D screen!
Yes, a stereoscopic projection screen just like in Iron Man. The screen was huge, about one meter across. Everyone present could see the screen clearly. 
When the screen appeared, everyone was shocked. "Oh my god, this… Am I seeing this right? Stereoscopic projection?!" "Isn't this… Isn't this something you can only see in sci-fi movies? Are we at the scene of a sci-fi movie?!" "Young Master Dali's technology is ahead by tens of years? He managed to do stereoscopic projection?!"
Mu Tie stared in bewilderment. He pinched Hong Weiguo's leg hard and mumbled, "Weiguo, Dali's technology, there's such a big difference from ours?"

Feng Yun website's lawyer immediately knelt down…

"I have to squander; otherwise, won't it be a waste of my parent's talent at earning money?" Hong Dali answers a reporter's question matter-of-factly. 

Just after the interview ends, Hong Dali opens the Great Prodigal System's interface and looks at the various good stuff displayed in it. Stroking his chin, he mumbles to himself, "I just need to squander 200 billion yuan more to exchange for the blueprint of the core technology, Engine Destruction, found in the strongest humanoid mecha weapon, Neo Granzon. Looks like I'll have to work harder!"
