Early in the morning, Zhang Zian was once again startled awake by the distant sound of firecrackers. It was the week before Chinese New Year, so people were using firecrackers more and more. 

Even people with bad hearing would be able to hear the noise, so, of course, the elfins were startled too. Galaxy leapt out the crib, silently waved good morning to Zhang Zian, opened the bedroom doors and went downstairs to play with the kittens. Pi yawned and stretched before he going to the swivel chair to turn on the computer.

The other elfins awoke too, but they wanted to keep sleeping as it was still too early and there was nothing for them to do even if they did get out of bed.

Zhang Zian got dressed, walked over to the window, pulled the curtains open, and looked outside. It snowed again last night, so the streets were covered with white, making the day brighter than usual.

He saw an electric rickshaw stop right in front of Li's Supreme Snack Bar's.

The driver was Uncle Li, who woke up before the sun rose to go to the market by the suburbs to stock up on groceries. He wore a thick cotton coat and knee pads to keep his knee joints warm. Driving the rickshaw in this weather must be very cold, his eyebrows had frost on them yet he was smiling. 

A quilt covered the trunk of the rickshaw. Uncle Li lifted the quilt, grabbing the bags of fresh vegetables to take into the snack bar. Their usual stock of ingredients that would always have leftovers was sold out by noon, so they had no choice but to close early. Today, Uncle Li not only increased the amount of vegetables he bought, but also the variety.
　　
Pi tapped its mouth and logged into Qidian's author platform. Pi did this every morning, it looked at the new adds and comments left by readers, as these were his motivation to continue working on his novel.

"Zhi zhi!" Pi started screaming.
 
All the elfins raised their head off their beds and looked towards Pi, wondering what had happened. Only Richard was still asleep.

"What's wrong, Pi?" Zhang Zian asked.

Every morning Pi would be one of the first to wake up, but Pi always tried to be quiet. It even typed softly, so it wouldn't disrupt the other elfins. However, today it suddenly screamed, something out of the ordinary must have happened.

After Pi logged into QQ, there were a number of messages sent by its book friends in the middle of the night.

"Popo, go look at your book review section. There's posts of people claiming that you've been hacking accounts to rig votes."

"Popo, erase those posts! New readers will believe them!"

There were also others who were doubtful and asked, "Did you really hack into accounts to rig votes?"

Pi was at a loss as it watched all the messages pop up. The most unbearable thing was the lack of trust from readers.

"What?"

Zhang Zian was stumped. Pi would never hack into accounts to rig votes. Pi even told readers not to send in recommendation red packets, as it felt like it was a waste of the reader's money.

Zian turned around and gestured to the other elfins that everything was okay. He placed his hands on Pi's shoulders and said, "Pi, don't panic. Let's take a look at what's going on before we decide on what to do next. It's like the saying goes, different situations call for different action, and there's no problem that can't be solved.' You've made it through worse, there's no need for you to be depressed by baseless slander."

Zhang Zian could feel Pi's body trembling, unclear if it was out of sadness or anger, maybe a little of both. Maybe Zhang Zian being calm helped because Pi pursed its lips as it opened the book review section.
 
The book review section was flooded with posts filled with malicious language.

"Could you more shameless? How could you bring yourself to do such things?

"As long as the book is crap, it's all pointless, even if you rig votes!"

"Even if you get your votes up, no one would read your book!"

Looking at all the baseless rumors, Pi was depressed. It looked up at Zhang Zian with its red eyes, pointed at its chest, and shook its head, as if explaining that he did no such thing.

"Pi, I know you didn't do it." Zian consoled Pi.

Zian frowned as he looked through the posts. He took the mouse from Pi's hands and said, "Pi, go wash your face. Let me take a look."

Some of the posts were very offensive, going as far as to curse Pi's relative to die a painful death. Although Pi had no relatives, Zhang Zian still didn't want Pi to see all these.

Pi nodded and leapt out of the chair to head to the bathroom.

Zhang Zian clicked every post. He told himself to be calm and look at it with an objective attitude, but after reading the offensive language, he couldn't stop his anger. He couldn't wait to delete all the posts. Readers who weren't aware of the truth could easily believe the posts, causing Pi to lose potential readers. Like the saying goes, If you fling enough mud, some of it will stick.

Most of the readers believed in Pi, but clicking into the book review section to have all the rubbish posts everywhere will only serve to discourage readers. The book review section used to be full of discussions on the current elfins and what other elfins might appear. There were also theories on how the story was going to progress, but now the normal posts were pushed all the way to the third or fourth page. Even if readers wanted to look for them, they wouldn't be able to.

Some readers took the initiative and tried to get the writer of the post to show proof, but the writer would never reply, they would just publish a new post. The first few pages were filled with such posts and their numbers were still growing. 

Soon, Zhang Zian realized a pattern, all the writers were newly registered Qidian readers with a level one account.

Qidian accounts have varying levels. Zhang Zian remembered that all you had to do was pay a dollar to become a regular member.

All the people who slandered Pi never paid the dollar, so what value do they have? It was clear that this was all a plan against Pi, an organized move with the goal of discrediting Pi.

He had slept a full eighteen hours and no longer looked that sleep deprived, he took a shower, had a coffee, ordered a take-out and then the ghost tackled him. 

Yet rather than her passing through him, she had actually made him fall to her own shock. 

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry!!" She flailed her hands. "I didn't think I…" 

He sighed. "Did you think my writing talent was something a human should be capable of?" 

"...Yeah?" She asked, confused. 

"Fine, just get off, I don't enjoy laying on the floor." He looked irritated. 

"Oh, that was a joke!" Gears clicked in her head as she got up.  

He groaned. "Don't rub it in." But he could now get up as well. He rubbed his hip, but let it be a few moments later. 

"Okay, so, my name is Mandy! What's yours?" The girl started the introductions. He had said he would talk with her and she had also waited for him to get a shower, coffee and… she thought he would need breakfast and calling the take-out answered that. She wasn't so insensitive that she would keep someone from taking basic care of themselves. 

Yet rather than replying to that, he said. "Five questions. I will answer only five, so ask carefully." 

"Uh--" The girl squinted her eyes like she had been cheated.   

"I have another deadline coming up soon." He explained. "After eating I'll get to work." 

She reluctantly nodded. "What's your name?" She didn't feel like it was right to call him by the name on the book without asking. 

"August," he confirmed that the name on the book had been indeed his real one. 

Well, it was a wasted question then, but Mandy hadn't wished to guess with something as important as a name. "August, why did you ignore me for three days?" 

"I had no time to waste on conversations," he replied. 

Her eyes squinted dangerously and her hands raised up ominously, so August felt like he had to keep speaking. 

"Most humans don't see ghosts and I look human enough, so unless you were too fresh as a ghost you wouldn't have known I could see you, so no damage done?" 

Mandy sighed. He had a point. "What are you then?" 

"Half-human, half-ghost," August replied. 

Mandy thought a bit, confusion written over her features. "How is that possible?"

"If one of your parents is a ghost, other is human, you get something like that."

"I mean - how? Humans can't touch or see us normally, except..."

August put up fingers and listed: "All hallows, winter solstice, anytime when someone holds walpurgis," he lowered his fingers, "and there are certain places in the world where that isn't a problem. In eastern europe, there's a whole month where dead and living can intermingle and there are also cursed forests and whatnot, so you just have to travel a lot."

"Oh," Mandy nodded. "So they met like that?"

"No." 

"How did they meet then?" Mandy leaned closer. 

"Aren't you out of questions already?" August peered at her. 

"Don't be that stingy, it counts as a reply to the previous one. 'Yes/No' isn't a proper answer." Mandy narrowed her eyes at August. 

"Fine," he sighed. His breakfast hadn't arrived yet, so he told her the story as pieced together from bits and pieces told by his parents.

"It happened twenty eight years ago..."

Inside a luxurious looking mansion, second floor,  behind high rococo styled doors at the very end of a long hall was a pastel colored bedroom. Furnished with white, elegant furniture, landscape paintings by the walls. Inside the room were two figures - an old man in the bed and a younger one standing beside it.  

"I'll have you stay here for the night," the old man said, he was wrinkled and seemed to be close to seventy. 

The young man nodded, no surprise on his features. If his eyes weren't moss green and his stance wasn't so firm, giving a sense of good health and strength, you might have mixed him up with the sleep deprived writer of the present. He wore a classic casual outfit reminding of someone well off, the only slightly odd detail was him wearing silk-like black gloves. 

"I'll turn off the lights then," the younger man said, this time it was the turn of the old man to nod. 

The younger man went to a wall nearby and pressed a switch. With a faint click the lights went off and the man returned to the bedside of the old man, leaning by a wall.  

They didn't converse and while the old man did cast glimpses at the young man for a while, soon he closed his eyes and his breathing slowed down.

The young man, however, kept a careful watch of the whole room. He remained still and silent for half an hour at least, till a faint glow appeared by the ceiling. 

A beautiful girl floated down from above - dark gold hair and dark brown eyes. She was wearing a white sundress and a hay hat, but rather than seeming as outdoorsy as her clothes might hint at she looked similarly sleep deprived to one certain writer, like she hadn't seen much sun. She was beautiful in spite of her visibly bad sleeping habits and unhealthy paleness. 

Even if the young man had put on something reminding of a fighting stance upon spotting the glow, that had loosened, as he was caught by surprise. 

As the ghost reached out for the old man, the young man took her hand, pulling her towards him. Despite what one would expect, his hand did not pass through her and she was equally shocked about it. 

"Wha--"

"Shh." The man gestured, pointing at the sleeping man. 

The whole situation was so utterly shocking to the ghost that she closed her mouth and let herself be pulled away from the bed.

The old man shifted a little bit in his sleep, but didn't wake up. 

The young man, in the meantime, had reached the balcony doors and carefully opened them, going out, pulling the ghost along with him. She kept looking at him, then back at the bed, back and forth, too confused to resist. The sounds of a fountain met them and so did a scenery of a rose garden illuminated by the moonlight below them. 

The girl's expression changed from bewildered to suspicious to just confused by the time the man had closed the doors behind him. 

"Are you the only ghost haunting him?" The man asked with a soft smile. 

"...in this house, probably," the girl replied.  

A trace of relief passed the young man's features. "You know, he's already married and old…"  

Her jaw dropped. "What-- are-- you s-s-s-saying, I-I-I-- " 

He laughed.

She pouted. "Listen here… "

"Raegan," he dropped his name. 

"Reagan. I'm not interested in that old man in--" She was clearly embarrassed. "...that way." 

"Oh, that's a relief," Reagan said, his eyes were smiling, even if he tried to fake a relieved expression. "What's your name, by the way?" 

"Hilary," the girl replied. "Don't say it - I know it doesn't fit…" She added. 

"Pleased to meet, you, Hilary." Raegan kept smiling but this time without any fake expressions overlaid on top. 

"Likewise," the girl slightly bowed her head, her hand shifted a little and it seemed like she might have curtsied, had her hands been free. 

"Since you've made it clear that you don't see the old man in "that way", does that mean I might have a chance?" Reagan asked. 

She pursed her lips, then glanced away. "Stop joking around," the girl said, pouting again and looking at her hand that was being firmly held. 

"I'm not." he said all that with a straight and open face. "I'd be open to be haunted by you anytime~" He winked. 

"Pff" She laughed.

"Ah, don't laugh about my feelings," he replied with an amused expression, yet there was a serious tint in there. 

"It almost sounds like love at first sight," She said, tilting her head lightly. "For a ghost at that." She felt unsure, her eyes seeking for any trace of deceit. 

"What if it is?" He asked, no trace of deceit present.   

Her eyes flickered as she looked up at him. She had a hard time believing him, this was too sudden, yet he didn't seem to be lying either. It didn't help that they were amongst a beautiful scenery, under the moonlight and that his face was very much to her liking.  

It took a moment before she could part her lips and say… "I can't leave this house. I have tried but…"

He raised up his other hand and put a strand of her hair behind her ear. She trembled a bit at the touch, but relaxed as he retracted his hand.   

He was smiling still. "As long as you wish to follow me more than stay here, you will be able to go." 

Her eyes widened first, then she finally smiled as well. Those words that sounded so much like a beautiful lie - she couldn't help but believe them.

With that the writer finished his tale. His pride as a writer had him retell the story it in this manner. And seeing the story told in this manner Mandy refrained from interrupting him even if she had a lot of questions.  

"That is so-- romantic," the ghost in the present day turned around in the air. "What happened after?" 

"You are out of questions," the writer said. 

"That's unfair!" she thrashed in midair, but the writer did not budge.

A bell at the door rang and the writer got up. "Finally." 

He had ordered some pizzas for breakfast. Not the healthiest choice, but there wasn't anything about August that would scream 'health concerned'. Mandy, of course, poked him. "At least answer some bits about the story you told!" 

"Why was your dad in that old man's house?" 

"Work." 

Mandy squinted her eyes again. 

"He's an exorcist." Other replies among the munching included: 

"Dad could always see ghosts and other astrals, family lineage has some other astral creatures mixed in, so most of my relatives can see."
"Astrals are spirits, monsters, gods, what have you - not humans."
"What do you mean - of course they exist - if ghosts are real shouldn't other oddities be real too?"
"I've never heard of Easter bunny being real, no,"
(To that Mandy seemed sad) 
"His gloves are widow silk: stuff both physical and astral things can touch, woven by a spider monster with female upper half."
"I have no idea how he got them."  
"Mother hated the old man, so she gave him nightmares and had him pee his bed all the time." (To which Mandy laughed) 
"Yes, you can haunt humans rather than houses, but you need to really like the human for that. Hatred doesn't do the trick."

August finished eating and went to work. Mandy made him coffee and in exchange got more books to read. These weren't by August, however.

An eccentric writer moves into a haunted apartment, yet it seems like he simply doesn't notice the ghost floating around. Soon enough it turns out that he was actually ignoring the ghost. She found out and that's how their life together properly began.

Thank you so much for all your love and support for the novel. I started writing as a hobby. Writing for me is a space where all my thoughts, worries, anxiety, sadness, and all the other things dissappears. Both the good and bad. The only thing that will occupy my mind is the story. Just like watching a movie. The only difference was that I have to write every single thing that I see. 
From the start, I didn't expect anything. I continued to write even when I had no readers at all. I still remember the happiness I felt when I read the first review and views that doesn't exceed all the fingers that I have on me. Imagine me jumping like an idiot.
I may not be the best writer yet but writing gives me so much joy. Every chapter is an opportunity for me to learn and grow as a writer and as a person.
Right now, the novel is in the process of being contracted. The novel will go on Premium in the future. Specifically on November 4, 2019. So until then, read as much free chapters that you can XD Do not worry, I will do my best to keep the chapters as affordable as I can since I know all of us follow multiple stories.

Together, they tread and explored the waters of love, the unknown and uncertainty. Through twists and turns, they gradually fell in love as their adventure called marriage, unfolds. Violet: "What sort of? Damn it! We have no choice!!! You wrote us!" 

YoureMySun: "Y-you!!!!! You can't be here! Stop crossing dimensions! You're ruining my synopsis for your story!" 

King: "Can you change the female lead? Someone who's more beautiful and cultured?" 

Violet: "Bastardddddd!! You're dead!!!" 

YoureMySun: "Cut it King! You're not supposed to be here too! Stop agitating Violet, ok?" 

King: "Hahahahaha me? stop? Dream on! I'll annoy the heck out of this woman. Even if it's the last thing I do! Gyahahaha" *evil laugh

Violet: *pulls out bat from somewhere then charged at King

YoureMySun: "Oh my God!!! V where the heck did you even get that! Stop right there!" 

King: "W-woman! I-i know how much you love me so don't you dare hit my face!" 

Violet: "Me love you? You of all people? Only an idiot will fall for you" *said through gnashing her teeth

King: "You're the idiot that fell for me, you know? G-get away from me barbarian!" 

YoureMySun: "You guys left me with no choice" 

*Our dearest author left with no choice, pulls out the magical keypad as she wrote,

YoureMySun: "As Violet was gunning for King, she tripped and fell in his embrace. And end up kissing each other. Then a good samaritan from the story's dimension accidentally throws a rope through the worm hole while trying to catch the running horse. The two got tied in the same position. The samaritan pulled and was shocked to see two people instead of the horse. He blinked then they disappeared, and wondered if he gone crazy. The two was transported to their love nest stuck in that position for the whole day. Until Violet had enough being taken advantage of by King. She ripped the rope and starts bashing King with a pillow. While King's laughters and ouchies reverberates throughout the house. And they lived happily ever after"

"Where was I? Going back" 

They fell in love through twists and turns. Violet, a beautiful, charming, quiet, and a kind girl unexpectedly met King, a handsome, rich, playful and iceberg-man. 

"She's really kind and quiet you know, believe me. It's just that, King happened"

For those of you who already know, this is a rewrite of my previous novel by the name, "The talentless sect master chosen by the system".


Being a novice writer when I first started this, I made too many mistakes. Mistakes in paragraphing, grammatical errors, lack of vocab, plot holes, neglecting the story from the readers view and skipping of scenes without much character immersion...


Realising all this after some point, I thought that maybe I should just write a new novel, which I did attempt. But then I realised that it was another grave mistake. Ideas of rewriting the novel interfered with my new novel ideas which lead to this, the rewriting of this novel.


I don't regret my past mistakes, they helped me learn as a novice writer. I might not call myself experienced yet, but I believe that I can do much better than I once did.


With this, one final message would be the change in the main character's name. I've decided to call the main character Ace.

Release rate: 7 chapters/week (as much as school schedule permits)

Extra chapters: For every week that this novel receives 50 power stones, I'll release an extra chapter, for every week that this novel receives 100 power stones, I'll release two extra chapters, so on so forth...

Of course, any form of review would be appreciated, if you have suggestions for improvement, please leave behind constructive feedback which I can take into consideration or any praises that you have (of course).

As the sole survivor of the entire town, Ace had lost all sense of direction in life until he awakened the Nirvana Sect system by a stroke of luck.

But this made him question, why did the system choose me?

Having created his sect and established a place he can call home, he once again questioned himself, why did the system give me this?

Having fallen and rise, all he wanted to was find the answers to life and most importantly, the origin of the system which shouldn't have existed.

With the path to the apex being full of thorns, the lost of his disciples is almost a must.

"I'm sorry...if only I didn't make this decision."

"I'm sorry...if only I wasn't this reckless."

"I'm sorry...if only I wasn't this weak."

Nails digging into his palm, ground dyed scarlet by blood. Tears streaked down his face, muffled by the merciless rain...
