This will consist of the stories I found on Youtube or in Reddit. I'm making this so that I will be able to archive the stories and at the same time read it in WN's UI (Which is so goddamn good). You can find the authors of said stories in the 'Author's Thoughts' section at the end of each chapter. And one last note, please support the authors of the stories if you find it good. 

Like I said, I'm not the author of the stories I will upload. I'm only compiling them to read them for my own use, so do not report this pls.

This is a story about a male named Zero who gets transformed into a Werewolf because of the apocalypse, with his intelligence.

It started with a message and humans turned into monsters human eating machines, but Zero is not like them, because he still has his intelligence.

I started getting bored with chaos magick, well not bored so much as getting used to it. I need constant change otherwise I get bored. I need puzzles, I need adventure, I need.... superpowers?

I decided to look into psychic abilities, telekinesis, telepathy, astral projection, things like that. Although they fall under chaos magick they are technically a specialization of their own, called psionics.

As with usual I set out to do research on the subject in preparation for practicals. To get any good information on psionics is a pain in the ass, to say the least. A simple google of the phrase "psionics" lead me down a path of D&D and XCOM, neither of which had any roots in reality so google was utterly useless. I turned to Reddit and its community of wonderful people. Truthfully speaking Reddit is one hell of a source when it comes to occult studies, just don't ask about demon summoning. I asked about psionics on a group r/psionics. It is there where I met the person I will come to call master(u/boxofmelons), although it kinda annoys him.

Psionics has a lot of similarities with chaos magick and yet they are also quite different. Psionics is about using your chakras (and chi if you want to) whereas chaos magick is more about tricking your subconscious into performing magickal acts. I chose psionics exactly for that reason. I needed training in energy manipulation and I felt that psionics would be best suited for the job. It was through my master that I started learning about my chakras and psi. I learned how to feel the energy and manipulate it. On his Reddit page, he had exercises aimed at beginners to teach the basics.

I asked him why he doesn't have more tutorials and he said that it's because every person is different so there is no "one fits all" way to doing psionics. So this is where psionics is quite similar to chaos magick. You can manipulate techniques to fit you and still get the same result its not necessary to go dig up a million-year-old book on a technique for manipulating your energy.

I read all his posts and I went and read as much as I could on the Reddit page. Because the information on Google was so diluted, finding this Reddit page was like striking oil. I absorbed as much as I could in preparation for starting with my practicals.

I really hate my brother.
He made me wake up from the PERFECT dream!
... Let's start from the beginning.
So I was watching videos on the couch. Then since I felt sleepy, I decided to take a nap. From there, I had the dream.
I was cuddling the fluffiest puppy ever! It was so cute!!! Its fur was also so soft and felt so so good to pet. It was perfect.
Until my gosh darn moron of a brother woke me up! By laughing like a stupid piece of garbage! The nap only lasted 20 minutes! It was no way long enough!
And guess why he laughed. He laughed because of some Reddit memes! Reddit memes!!!
He woke me up from the best dream ever because of some Reddit memes!!!
I have never wanted to kill someone so badly! Ugh!
Writing this down is just making me even more mad!
He better sleep with one eye open starting from today.

Summary: This is mostly just to pass the time. There really isn't any plot. Just have fun reading it and that's all!

PS: The updates are sporadic(aka WhenEverIWantTo) and the word count varies per chapter.

1. Three Knocks in the Dead of Night

Something strange happened to xombabe and their grandma. One night, they stayed up late watching The Walking Dead. Their grandma had never seen the show before, so they'd spent the past few nights binging late into the night. It was about 4 am when the two turned off the television and the lights and called it a night. Their grandma went into her room, and our Reddit user went to the bathroom to brush their teeth. That was when they heard three light knocks right behind them.

Since the bathroom was connected to their grandmother's room, they assumed it was her checking to see if they were in the bathroom. They answered but didn't get a response. When they left the bathroom and met their grandma in the hallway, she asked what the user wanted. Confused, the writer said that they thought she was the one knocking on the bathroom door. But grandma had also heard three knocks on her door and thought it was the Reddit user. 
As it turns out, they both heard the quiet, distinct knocks. They searched the house to make sure no one had broken in, double-checked the locks, and finally went to bed. Their grandma has one deceased son and one son that has been missing for almost a year now. The user believes that the knocks had something to do with the missing men—perhaps they were trying to reach out to their beloved family.

A few years ago, tauntauntom had just been through a rough divorce from their high school sweetheart. Their best friend had taken to distracting them by taking long road trips. One morning, they were on their way to Carlsbad, New Mexico when they paused alongside a river dam. They were drinking cider and snacking when the pair decided to explore the dried river bed. It was obvious that they weren't the first ones to go trekking through the riverbed. The pair could see human, canine, and feline footprints in the mud. 

They then recall starting to feel an odd sensation, like they were being watched. Their friend caught the writer's attention and called them over. There was a bone in the ground - what they now believe was a spinal cord. At first they thought it was a beef or pork bone on some kind. They continued looking around the river bed when they found a strange rust colored rock sticking out from the sand. When they got closer, they realized it was a half-buried little girl's shoe. The Reddit user stepped back and ran forward, preparing to kick the shoe. Suddenly, they heard a little girl's voice shout "No! Don't, please!" They looked around but didn't see anyone besides themselves, and their friend. The friend asked why they stopped and they replied "Didn't you hear that little girl?". Both confused, they decided to shrug it off and continued on their way. Meanwhile, the feeling that someone was watching them grew stronger. A few minutes later, they spotted another bone. 

Now, they began to get scared. The bone was clearly human. The  friend called the non-emergency police number for Carlsbad, and they reported what they saw.

One week later, they received a call from their friend that the Carlsbad Police had called to report the bones they found were indeed human. During the investigation, the two were questioned and eventually informed that the rust-colored rock actually wasn't a rock at all, but the shell of a pickup truck that had disappeared along with the family of three it had been carrying: a man, a woman, and their daughter. It made the Reddit user think back to the girl's shoe sticking out of the mud, and the voice they heard. Could the little girl have spoken directly to them?

3. Ouija Board Warning

Last year, smol-bean-dean went to a friend's house for a party. Around one in the morning, the group decided to use a Ouija board. The Reddit user was the only one who believed in accounts of the paranormal so she was hesitant when her friends brought out the board. But instead of giving her friends more reasons to tease her when it came to the paranormal, she acted as if she didn't believe in such activity. 

They began asking the board questions. They started with a few normal questions, and nothing really exciting happened. Then someone asked if the spirit wanted to hurt them, and it responded with "only one." The group started to get creeped out at this point—and rightfully so. When one friend asked the natural follow-up question, who, the board spelled out Natasha: the Reddit user's full name. It should be noted that she doesn't care for their full name and has everyone call her Tasha instead. Tasha then left the room while her friends continued playing but found out later that night that the group forgot to say goodbye to the board. Anyone familiar with a Ouija board knows that closing the interaction with the spirit is crucial before stopping use of the board. Needless to say, she was nervous.

After this, Tasha has no memory of the night. She only remembers getting a migraine and nosebleeds. Her friends took videos of her acting strangely, speaking with a changed voice, and a few instances of her talking in other languages. However, that night wasn't the only time this happened. In the days following, Tasha's parents reported the same things happening. Once again, she remembered nothing but migraines and nosebleeds. 

About two weeks later, she was back to normal. Or so she thought. Tasha was suddenly hospitalized for an excruciating pain in her kidney—so bad that it almost shut down. The doctors tried everything but couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then, on the day she were scheduled for surgery, the pain suddenly stopped. One day later, Tasha was released. 

Since that incident, she has never felt like she was truly alone. Sometimes, she feels someone grabbing her hands or neck, making it difficult to breathe. Tasha has always believed in the paranormal, but this experience made it far more real for her.

4. Scares at the Nursing Home

Swagman is a dietary aide at a nursing home for people with Alzheimer's, and they have had some seriously scary encounters while working there. Their job mainly consists of  washing dishes, and they're normally standing right next to the dishwasher which makes it difficult to hear what people are saying. 

On numerous occasions, they have been by the dishwasher and heard someone talking to them even though they knew no one was nearby. 

One night, the writer went to collect food carts in one of their units, alone. The whole time they were in the unit, they felt like they were being followed. Fearing what they might see, they never turned around. Eventually, they pulled off, pretending to use the bathroom. They waited there for about five minutes before peering into the hallway where they'd just been. There, they saw a patient they recognized. At first, this made them feel better, but soon, they realized that it was a patient who had died three days prior in a unit near the kitchen. 

The user also relayed a second experience they had while washing the dishes on a different day. They asked the person they were washing with if he could go into Unit A and get the food carts. The third person who normally washed with them had already left for the day, leaving the writer alone. 

Suddenly, they heard a voice in their ear. They turned around, but no one was there. They even went into the hallway, but still saw nothing. As they returned to washing the dishes, it happened again. The second time, they realized it was the voice of their great-grandma who passed away seven years ago. Very spooky.

5. Threatening Footsteps in the Country
In 2013, Xombabe and her friends decided to make a Ouija board. Her best friend lives about a 45 minute drive from the closest store and nearest town, so there wasn't much to do. They'd spent the day watching movies but eventually got bored, so the user, her friend, the friend's boyfriend and his friend decided to make the board. 

About a week before they made the board, the two friends had been staying alone at the house when the Reddit writer woke at 6 am to the sound of heavy footsteps in the hallway nearing the bedroom. She tried to wake her friend, but it was no use - she was a heavy sleeper. The footsteps stopped right outside the door. The writer waited, holding her breath, for the door to open, but it never did. The next few hours she spent awake, waiting for something to happen. When both girls were finally awake by 11 that morning, before either left the room, she told her friend what had happened the night before. 

And what her friend said in response chilled her to the bone. She said that for years she'd been hearing the same footsteps and that they had always stopped right outside her bedroom. No one else had heard the footsteps until the writer. 

That night, they made their Ouija board. The group were messing around with it, not getting any real responses when they suddenly heard a loud bang in the back on the house. They decided to stop for the night. The friend left to drive the other two home, leaving the Reddit user alone at the house. 

Being alone after hearing the loud noise and the footsteps made her nervous so she turned on the television for a distraction while she waited for her friend to return. In the middle of the opening credits, the television froze and started making loud buzzing noises. She tried to turn off the TV, but the remote wouldn't work. Then she tried unplugging it, but it kept going. 

Thoroughly freaked out, she went outside to wait for her friend to get back. At this point, she had started shaking and crying and texted her friend explaining what had happened. Then the dogs started barking at the living room door, viciously growling and snarling like they saw something no human could. 

Thirty minutes later, her friend finally arrived back home. Both girls could hear the television from the porch, but when they went inside, it had completely shut off and was still unplugged. Neither are sure exactly what happened, but they're certain is was some kind of malevolent spirit.

Guys, I need your opinions about what to do regarding my love life.
I never had a boyfriend before so I needed your help.
 I had a best friend who confessed to me that he was interested to be my boyfriend. 
Let's call the guy (I'm just going to pick a random word) Key.
Key was very sweet, caring, and protective and we had known each other for two years.
Even if we already knew each other that long, sometimes I feel like I didn't know him.
He was mysterious and secretive.
 A little bit overbearing at times and I don't want to assume but I think he gets jealous easily.
He just broke up from his ex-girlfriend just days ago in front of everyone at school and he told me that he broke up with her to be with me. I like Key but I didn't want to be a rebound. 
I can't be a rebound for my first relationship, you see.
Now, this other friend of his, let's call this guy Brush, was also a hottie like Key but I'm not sure if he was serious or he was playing around either. His motives are kind of sketchy but he had given me flowers and gifts for no reason aside from an apology. He's kind of a prankster and I see him as too flirtatious but weirdly enough, I hadn't seen him doing that to other girls. Either way, I don't want to assume that I was special.
Now, this third guy, his name is R—I mean, let's call him Aries. I didn't know him because we aren't even that close. I think I probably interacted with him five times but, there were no moments where we were left alone together. I don't even know what his powers—I mean—what his charms consist of, hehe.
I got a random text from him today and he told me that he would join Brush and Key in wooing me.
They called it the Dating Games.
In my mind, I think that I have been played here—like it was some sort of a bet.
I don't know. I don���t know what to do about them.
How would you handle this situation if this happened?
Do I just play along and have fun or do I just avoid them as much as possible?

"What sizes, Cass?" There was a sudden deep voice from behind me and I jumped.
I was too startled that it became an immediate reaction.
I had squealed in the middle of the class.
No, I realized as I looked around the room.
Pairs of eyes stared right back at me as my classmates rummaged on their backpack, shoving their books and notebooks inside. 
The class had ended and I didn't even notice.
Did the bell ring?
That was impossible to miss, unless, I was deaf.
I was lost in my daydreams that I didn't know that it was lunchtime.
 I didn't even remember if I had written any notes from the other lectures. 
I fluttered the pages of my notes on the table and there wasn't anything written on them on this day. 
Blank.
"Oh my god!" My hand clamped over my mouth in shock and I accidentally dropped my phone on the floor. 
From behind me, Lysander bent over to pick my phone but I stopped him by pulling his outstretched arm away.
Tensing, I stared at him in panic, wide-eyed, "Lysander, don't!"
"Hmm, Let me." Lysander cocked an eyebrow and murmured. "Now you made me curious."
"It's fine I can do it myself." Getting up from my chair, I swatted his hand and pushing him away. 
Bending down, I picked the phone up but sneaky Lysander had beaten me to it again.
 I was fast enough to snatch it away from Lysander's grasp before he could turn it over to see my anonymous Reddit post. 
 If he saw that, it's going to be embarrassing.
Thankfully, the screen was locked.
Lysander had moved behind me, looking over my shoulder.
I turned to look at his expression and the handsome bastard was giving me his signature Cheshire Cat grin.
"I was curious about the word 'sizes' I have seen on the screen earlier," Lysander said out loud—too loud--startling me out of my thoughts.
 My classmates were now looking over at us, trying to find out what the commotion was all about.
Clearing my throat, I replied in a low voice but still managing to sound indignant. "There are no sizes."
 I think other students in the vicinity still heard that, shooting me curious glances and raised eyebrows from both female and male students.
Argh. 
Now they would think I was a pervert.
"Are you done?" Lysander poked me at the side of my belly and my brows furrowed in annoyance.
 Nevertheless, he must be having a blast pissing me off because he had angled himself even closer until I could smell the almond and chocolate scent from his uniform.
Damn, I just noticed that Lysander smelled like food today.
Breathing deeply through my nose, I didn't make it obvious that Lysander's smell had made me hungry.
French boys really know how to entice girls. 
"We should eat lunch with others to discuss the dating games. " Lysander said and I could hear the amusement in his voice. He knew what he was doing--the effect he had on me. "I think Leif and Raven want to join. The more, the merrier, right?"
Oh great, now the killer who desired to drown me at the pool wanted to join.

"Why are you protecting me anyway?" I swallowed a lump forming in my throat. "What's in it for you?"

"Yeah, Cass. I ask myself every day why I am doing this too. Before I sleep and the first thing that comes to my mind the moment I wake up? It's you." His gaze jerked up and clashed with mine, confusion darkening those gorgeous irises. "I'm doing things I never even wanted to do in the first place. Like messing up my mission as the heir of the House of Cups."

"I don't want to be indebted to you! I don't want you to get hurt while you kept me safe."

The more I spoke, the more Gabriel's pupils narrowed.

"Do you know why I'm doing this?" Gabriel chuckled without humor as he cupped my chin, forcing my face to his. "Because I loathe it when you are hanging out with some other guy. Someone who isn't me." 

He pulled back and studied my face before shaking his head. "I want to kill them myself. There's a dark thought in my mind that says you are mine to own. And you are mine to kill when that time comes where I have to."

Gabriel's grip tightened and he leaned down, placing us nose to nose, his choppy breath traipsing over my lips. "You like taunting me by flirting with other guys too, do you? Well, guess what? It works. I can't fucking get you out of my mind." 

He released me long enough to slam a fist into the wall just beside my temple. "The first kiss was a goddamn mistake. It was supposed to purge you from my thought, make me stop wondering what you taste like."

It was quiet, the people who were from P.B.I who were silent. It felt like they were trying to intimidate me. "Tiana, if you're hiding anything please say it now It can get you in trouble later." 
"... okay," Do they suspect me of something? My nervous face turned into one that was confused. "If that all could I leave then?" 
"You, may it no need to go back to any class today so you maybe go home or go to your dorms." The blond said.  
"Yes, I understand goodbye." I hesitated for a second maybe I talk about my research; I now need to never ask about Elizabeth García's parents. I grab my backpack and go for the door.

I have been in my dorm for about two hours now. In conclusion, the death of Elizabeth García's parents is suspected. Scroll through hundreds of articles and Reddit pages. One article had the same idea as mine. The Reddit page theories were that the car accidents were nothing but something to cover up something. Cover up murders of Elizabeth García's parents? 
This makes more sense when you look at it. The people who bullied Elizabeth García were children of higher in the government. But other than the children being children of higher-ups, no one knows their names. If I find the bullies, it would be nice to post about them on the blog. But now the bullies can wait, I need to post today's research today. 
"I guess this is the best for now," as I post the first part of 'The Ghost Elizabeth García'. I grabbed my phone, sketchbook, pens, penile, and my cheap video camera I have and put them all in the back. "Time to go hunting!" There are rumors you can find Elizabeth in three places, the school female bathroom in the west of campus, the last girl dorm where she stayed which is not used anymore, and where she died in the art classroom which is now not used anymore too.  
The dorm is close to where I'm heading, on the third floor. I have my video camera in hand, taking a video of each step I took off the staircase. As I reached the third floor, her dorm is closed. I tried to open her room, and it isn't locked. A careless mistake on the school part. 
The dorm was empty, nothing special about it, but it has an excellent view when you look through. "No one has been here for fifty-four years?" I open up the closest and look in there with my video camera. It has a lot of dust here actually everywhere has dust. "Nothing there here, her bed then." The sheets are old and anyone can see the small holes in the yellow sheet at the sides. 
Under the bed are spider webs and dust. "Should I remove the wooden tiles, they look weak and old." With enough strength, it could break. I put my video camera and bag far away from the bed. I move the bed. If I were to hide anything under wooden tile, I would hide under the ones under my bed. I move my leg around the tiles to look for which one was the weakness in the bed area. The one in the middle was extremely weak when I touched it until it nearly came off. 
I came down and used my hand to push out the tile. When I could get it, I saw a black box. Why is it hidden? Pick up the box and shave it in my bag. I push them and put the bed and tiles back in place. Other than the box, it has nothing here. The school didn't take the time to look through her room properly then. I should start getting back to my dorm then? 
"It's sad I didn't get to see her?" I wonder how she will look! When I saw pictures of Elizabeth online she was quite beautiful, but if she died. How much will she look the same? The truth I can't wait to draw her, I hope I will find her soon.

I'm now back in my dorm, I looked through the video camera to see if it was something it caught I didn't. "Now I think of it if anyone goes there, notice the dust on the bed and the floor missing?" I sweatdrop at my thoughts. "Maybe going there was not the best idea." I have a feeling this will come back and bite me in the back soon. I pulled out the black box from my backpack. When I fully pull the box out, I wonder what I will find.

I never really expected much from life but I guess no one really expected much from me, either.
As a kid, I always was the weird kid for not trying to start relationships with other people. I mostly just skated through life. For good reason, though.
As far back as I could remember my luck has been...abysmal at best.
Any time I tried to make friends with someone, something bad would happen. Nothing too crazy if you don't count that one time in first grade I accidentally tripped and knocked my entire lunch on a girl I was acquainted with. Oh, or that other time I was laughing at a popular kid's jokes and spit my milk all over him. And that time in second-grade physical education when I threw a ball in dodgeball and it ricocheted off of at least five kids' heads. Yeah, some of them received light concussions from that...
If you still think that it was just coincidences or all in my head, then what about that time in freshman year when I was joking about Todd Forester just to find out he was in the hospital and needed serious surgery that day. Or when one of the popular girls invited me to Prom and stood me up. Okay, maybe that one was just a coincidence but it still hurt me for years!
Don't even get me started about my early college years! My life was starting to look up as I managed to skip a grade and start college earlier. A new face in a sea of strangers. I was finally going to turn my luck around and I did at first. Nothing too bad happened, and I even got my first girlfriend. So far so good!
I majored in Computer Science and minored in Web Design. I even helped start some successful projects with some new friends. We were gaining a lot of traction on Kickstarter. Our effort was just starting to bear fruit. Eventually, we made and released the mobile game we made called Arcadian Records. It became a hit especially with those who were fans of Gacha games.

I only helped with getting the Kickstarter and website together so I didn't gain too much money or fame. They even forgot to list my name in the credits, but I digress.
I was still happy that my life was turning around.
Well until one day my girlfriend came to me asking to break up. She had told me that she suspected me of cheating and had proof. When I had asked her to show me the proof, she couldn't but still insisted that we should break up.
I was heartbroken.
The love of my life had walked out of my life and she took a part of me with her.
I soon found myself becoming more and more saddened by her departure. I threw myself into my work to try and forget about her. The days passed and they soon turned into months. Eventually, I became well-known in the gaming community for my impressive bug fixes. I started to find solace in that fact.
I often spent much of my free time after work browsing Reddit and tech sites. I didn't want to lose my skills and wanted to continue to stay on top of software bugs, common or otherwise.
Before I knew it, I gained a sort of following online as the Bug Fix King. They often praised my work as both quick and efficient. I was happy again. This is what I would be known as.
I often flaunted my know-how and bug fix techniques to my co-workers to their dismay. Eventually, I was called to Human Resources many times for being 'obnoxious 'and 'rude.' I tried to tone it down after that but the power was getting to me.
For the first time in my life, I was in power. I was liked and not bullied. I felt in control and Reddit was fueling my ego and self-worth. I couldn't just stop. They must be in sheer awe of the Bug Fix King. Of course, that must be it.
So, whenever a co-worker asked me for help in identifying what kind of bug they had and what kind of fix was needed for it, I just told them. Of course, I would only tell them if they referred to me by my Reddit Handle: Bug Fix King.
I was once again called to Human Resources.
"You're fired."
"Wait, what? Why may I ask?"
The secretary at the desk stared deeply into my eyes causing me to sweat intensely.
"Let's see where to start, shall we?" She was in a black office swivel chair, the same as the last time I saw her. She moved along the floor with ease as she rolled aside as she leaned over to open a filing cabinet.
She was wearing a black blouse over a white buttoned-up shirt. The first two buttons weren't buttoned so her skin was exposed revealing a bit of cleavage. I couldn't help but try to get a little peek. ' I can't believe it has been six months since Jess broke up with me...I haven't even been on a date in over half a year! I wonder would she go on a date with me. No, wait, what am I talking about! She's about to fire me after all...'
She pulled out a large manilla folder causing me to immediately jump back.
"I wasn't looking or anything! I promise!"
The secretary cocked her head to the side with a confused look on her face.
"What are you talking about, Mr. Armeyer?"
"Nothing. Nothing at all..." I quickly shift myself in my seat. "So, how are you?"
The secretary continued to give me a look. Her eyebrows slightly raise as she looks at me like I'm a madman. 
'Maybe I am turning into a lunatic..."
"I am fine, Mr. Armeyer. Now here is a list of all of the reports from your co-workers about your recent behavior."
"My recent behavior? But, I don't think I have been treating my co-workers badly or anything." She hands me the envelope as I open it up. 'There's a lot of papers in here...Wait, and they're all about me?!'
I continued to flip through the files as I scanned them all over. 'Why are there so many? What the heck! I have only been a loyal worker through and through? And some of these go back a couple of months. This one is the worst of them all!'
I pull one of the files and put it in front of the others. At the top is a name I was more than familiar with. It was the name of a co-worker I've been friendly with recently. Marcus Porter, a new co-worker I recently started to mentor here.
'Even Michael, huh?' I felt betrayed and quite possibly, bamboozled. Every day, I shared all of my best bug fixes with him and even gave him a personal recommendation to our District Manager. I know I'm awkward sometimes and I have bad interpersonal skills, but I'm willing to work on this!
"Please, give me another chance! I don't want to be a jobless person who spends all their time reading manga or light novels in their room all day! Onegai! Er, I mean please!"
The secretary could only shake her head at me, even as I was on the verge of tears.
"If this was your first or second offense, then I would be all for giving you another chance but you've been here more than twice. Honestly, you were going to be fired sooner but due to your amazing track record we continued to employ you."
I couldn't understand what I was hearing...I was going to be fired and lose my dream job. But wait they can't fire me yet! It's just as she said, my amazing track record is too great! If I were to bring that up...'
Just as I was about to open my mouth, she stopped me.

"If you are going to tell me something like 'how are you going to replace someone like me', then you can forget it. We already have just the person to replace you. You should already know him since you taught him everything you knew."
'No...it can't be...'
"We have chosen Marcus Porter to be your replacement. He has already accepted your old position and is all ready to start tomorrow morning."
Her words broke me. 'Marcus...you bastard! How could you? I placed you under my care and you backstab me like this!"
"You can pack up all of your things and head home. Your final check will be in the mail. Have a wonderful day, Mr. Bug Fix King."
"Alright...Wait, w-what did you just say?"
"I said have a wonderful day, Mr. Armeyer"
"Will do..." I quickly went back to my desk to gather my things. 'I probably just misheard her or something. It's not like anybody here knows my online persona or anything. Even if they did, It's not like it would change anything.'
I gathered all my stuff in an old storage box we had lying around in the office and drove home.
"Haah~ I can't believe they fired me...At least I have some savings gathered up but how long would that last."
I couldn't help but start to feel lost again. The first time in a while where I had little to nothing else to put my time into. Well, besides Reddit and video games.
'Speaking of, I wonder how those guys are doing...I haven't really talked to them since college. That, and the game becoming super successful.
I decided to sit down at my computer in my room. I flipped the light switch and was greeted with my messy room. There were shirts and other articles of clothing littered around that I had forgotten to put away. 'Well, it's not like I forgot per see. I've just been so into work...No, I don't even want to talk about work so let's not bring that up right now.'
I decided to make my way to the computer and the first thing I saw was my wallpaper. The one with both me and Jessica in it.
"We looked so happy then..."
It took everything I had to quickly open up a tab to hide the wallpaper in front of me. Though this wasn't a permanent fix, it was all I could think to do at the moment. I would change the wallpaper but I would also be running away from my past. I would be lying if I said that I no longer had any feelings for her anymore. Some part of me still wishes we could get back together.
I decided to quickly clear my mind as I thought about what to look up.
'Well after a long, hard day at work, why not unwind with something nice, huh? Come on, it's been so long since you've last done 'it', right? So, what are you waiting for?'
I couldn't help it. I couldn't hold myself back any longer. These urges were beyond any modern mortal's control! They were now a way of life.
My fingers danced across my keyboard as I typed in the same keywords as I have always done. It was almost like clockwork.
I hit the enter key.
I was now ready to do 'it'.
I was now ready to play video games again.
I was greeted with the same words just as I had remembered they sounded like.
"Welcome to Arcadian Records, brave player!"

Jacob Armeyer was a 23-year-old freelance game designer. One day he had gotten a job to work on another bug in the sequel to the hit mobile game, Arcadian Records. After hours of looking for the bug, he found nothing and went home deciding to try again the next day. On his way back, however, he was suddenly knocked onto the ground by an escaping robber. Upon coming to, he found himself in front of God and was told he died from the fall due to his bad luck. But he would be given the chance to live again in another world of his choosing! 

'I wish I could find out what happened with that bug before Arcadian Records sequel launches..."
"So, you want to be reincarnated into the world of Arcadian Records, then. A fine choice! I will send you there immediately."
"Wait, that's not what I meant!"

The year was 2031. And while it would have been not unlike any other year, what made it remarkable was the Magic Lens market release. Although to be fair, it wasn't your normal release. The blueprints, documentation, and everything else for the breakthrough device appeared out of nowhere on Reddit on September 1, 2031, instantly spreading across the internet like wildfire.
Who posted the dump? Who created the device, one that hid smartphone-esque computing power and microLED image quality in what looked like plain contact lenses? Half a century later, that remains a mystery.
All we have is a screen name: Prophet.
Growth shot through the roof for the company manufacturing Magic Lenses. Software was supplied by a variety of developers, including some industry giants.
In just one year, the Magic Lens became as ubiquitous as smartphones. Many people got rid of their smartphones, in fact.
But it was then, on September 1, 2032, one year to the day after Prophet posted the lens blueprints to Reddit, that he struck again with a new piece of software for the Magic Lens.
It was open-source, available to everyone absolutely free of charge.
We all remember how quickly the entire world downloaded it.
But when they installed it…
At first, everyone thought it was a game.
It took two or three days of people having a blast destroying monsters, using magic, and beating dungeons to realize that it actually wasn't. It was reality.
It was reality revealed by the Magic Lens.
Some governments tried to ban the lenses and their software, but Prophet had taken care of that by making everything open-source and available online. It would have been easier to shut down the internet than to keep humanity from their magic.
That's when the research began.
Magic had always been around, it turned out. The problem was that with each generation, fewer and fewer humans were capable of seeing, feeling, and sensing it.
As a result, the magic that had once been an inherent part of everyday life was confined to legends and fairy tales. The mortal world and the magic world co-existed as two sides of the same coin, never interacting with each other. Humans, with very rare exceptions, were unable to spot the magic creatures. The latter kept their distance.
To be fair, the exceptions on the magic side were far more common. That explained why about ten million people around the world went missing every year, never to be heard from again.
The magic creatures, vampires and all the rest, needed food. Vampires require an absurd amount of blood just to stay alive, while werewolves… Well, they're in a category all to themselves.
The Magic Lens restored the gift of magic to humanity. Research showed that its ability to transform mysterious magic into ordinary numbers and figures was based on quantum uncertainty, hyperposition, string theory, ray gravity, and the distortion of time-space by speed, or the gravitational difference between two points. There's more, but the list gets even more incomprehensible from there.
In 2032, regardless, magic once again became a normal part of life on Earth again.
Humans suddenly discovered that the Ural, Himalayan, and Andean Mountains are inhabited by dwarves, the forests of Canada and Siberia by elves. Fish swim side by side with mermaids, nagas, kappas, and other magic creatures. And it isn't just birds soaring through the skies; there are also dragons, phoenixes, griffins, and even creatures whose names had long since disappeared from legends and fairy tales.
Ogres. Trolls. Wargs. Goblins. Orcs. Fairies. Giants. Cyclopes. Medusas. Centaurs. Cyclopes…did I mention them already? Regular old humans were suddenly in contact with all of them.
Remember Tony Stark's speech in one of those superhero movies? (How quaint they look today.) You know, the guy in the iron suit who started by fighting normal people before moving on to superhumans, aliens, and even gods? That trajectory, it turns out, extends much further than previously thought.
But magic advanced by leaps and bounds after 2032. Humans worked on it. Studied it. Believed in it. (At least, if the clerics and other zealots of the Word are right about everything on Earth being moved by Faith.)
In other words, magic didn't become just another part of life on New Earth. It worked its way deeply into every aspect of life, developing and transforming as it went. The age of digital technology was followed by the age of magic and technology integration.
They even found Atlantis.
Sure, it wasn't that hard. For thousands of years, the state of Atlantis had been thriving on a continent hidden from the mortal world under the water, with just its tip protruding above the waves for everyone as New Zealand.
It also turned out that the old non-magical technology we used to use had failed to grasp Earth's full size. The planet is almost half again as large as people used to think.
Scientists went back to the drawing board, poring over what they thought they knew to combine physical laws with the laws of magic and sorcery.
Just to take one example, no one yet knows why the larger Earth discovery didn't change the number of days in the year, the number of hours in the solar day, or even gravitational acceleration.
Fifty years later, in 2081, our stack of unsolved riddles still dwarfs the ones we've figured out the answers to.
But humans went on living.
They learned magic at schools of witchcraft and wizardry. They visited the lands of sapient magic creatures. They hunted non-sapient magic creatures. They explored dungeons. They loved. They betrayed. They gave birth. They died.
They fought wars, too.
Back in 2040, the First Magic War changed the global map and all but destroyed the planet. More on that later.
Reddit was successful in its mission to change the world. (For better or worse? Hard to say.)
Some are still adamantly set against the usage of Magic Lenses, rejecting all forms of magic. But they're few and capable of nothing more than scattered terrorist attacks.
We've already gone through two generations—and there's a third maturing—for whom magic is just as commonplace as the internet once was. (Of course, the internet is still around.)
Just don't be surprised if you come across an elf wearing sneakers and a baseball cap, drinking a Starbucks, and tapping away at a Mac laptop. Of course, you're still unlikely to come across one like that, be it in New York, Tokyo, London, or Moscow, unless you can get your hands on a pass for the city sector occupied by the magic races. That's your best shot.
The only place where you're sure to bump into someone from one of the magic races is Myers City, the capital of Atlantis deep in the Pacific Ocean. The birthplace of magic.
But how did magic come to be?
Who was the Prophet?
Why was the Magic Lens created?
Alex Doom, also known as Alexander Dumsky, had no idea.
And who is Alex Doom?
Good question.

Alexander Dumsky, or Alex Doom, was a dark wizard. At the age of seventeen, he was convicted of a litany of crimes so long that even the seasoned investigators, judges, and prosecutors involved in the case could only shudder.
Not a single attorney could be found to defend him in court.
But four years later, Alex was released from prison to become the Professor of Dark Magic. They'd thrown him into the deepest hole they could find, one built for the sole purpose of holding wizards, and then they let him back out again...
Why him? Why then?
Oh, you're not surprised to hear talk of wizardry? Well, then you probably know that the Magic Lens, which was invented in 2032, let humans see and use magic again.
