With the arrival of the steampunk industrial revolution, the most dazzling thing was definitely the supernatural steam alchemy that carried the traits of the current era.
A large number of machines were continuously being created by alchemists.
Among them, the ones with the power to kill were "guns" and "cannons".
When enemy troops carried sufficient guns, bullets, cannons, and tanks, it ended the age of knights and horses, replaced by the new era of steel and iron.
The rise of the supernatural steam revolution also brought a rise of interest in supernatural powers. Many new extraordinary supernatural classes had entered the stage of history.
Similarly, some ancient classes also stepped onto the new stage, radiating with light that had never been seen before.
Mages were such existences.
According to the different sources of power, mages were classified into four specializations: Elementalist, Summoner, Spellcaster, and Priest.
Elementalists gained their power from natural elements. They were able to sense and manipulate all sorts of elements. They could even use the natural power of the world to form powerful elemental spells. At this point, some would realize…
Indeed, in the olden days, Elementalists had been akin to mages.
The Summoner used contracts, spiritual bindings, summons, and other methods to call forth strong lifeforms from other worlds to fight for oneself.
Through the possession of powerful, peculiar, and mysterious spells, Spellcasters could use their own origin pool as the source of energy to unleash powerful and quick attacks.
And finally, there were Priests. Other than those devotees who were nurtured by the Churches, nobody would pick this path of their own accord. Priests relied on their contribution and faith to gain the power granted by deities.
Even though they could obtain extraordinary power in a short period of time, become extremely quick at recovery, or even have great strength granted by deities, borrowed power still had lots of limitations after all. Together with the suppression of the imperial ruler and other supernatural forces towards them, more and more people avoided the path of faith.
As for Gurney, he was obviously going on the path of a Spellcaster.

The supernatural class, Spellcaster.
They wanted to use powerful and fast spells.
Thus, quick-cast, silent-cast, and multi-cast runes were all necessary.
Among which, silent-cast runes were the most important among the three runes; it was the core rune in fact. The effect of a silent-cast rune was to reduce the chanting of spell syllables.
A standard low-tier supernatural spell had four syllables, and each syllable took roughly 0.25 seconds to chant. Thus, a low-tier supernatural spell would take one second to chant, aim, and fire.
But if your mental strength was high enough and you had sufficient talent in magecraft, you could create a silent-cast rune.
Then congratulations were in order. This silent-cast rune would allow you to chant one fewer syllable of the spell. When you complete the chanting of three of the four syllables of this supernatural spell, the silent-cast rune would automatically light up and complete the chanting for you. Thus, you would only need 0.75 seconds to complete the chanting, aiming, and firing of the spell.
And if you had two silent-cast runes, in theory, your low-tier supernatural spell would only take 0.5 seconds to cast.
And if you went further to create three silent-cast runes, then this low-tier supernatural spell would only take 0.25 seconds.
It was already very fast to cast one low-tier supernatural spell in 0.25 seconds.
But if you went one step further on this basis… 
Well, what would happen if a person had four silent-cast runes?
Indeed, their spell would cast instantly!
There would not be a need to chant the spell. With just a thought, the spell could be cast.
Instantly casting low-tier supernatural spells, it was something that every Spellcaster dreamed of doing.
But the problem was, were silent-cast runes easy to create?
The answer was, even though many Spellcasters wanted to achieve the dream of instant casting, it was too far beyond their sights.
Gurney thought to himself, That incomplete supernatural spell scroll was damaged, so it had the effect of torturing and refining my soul, causing me to benefit instead and obtain an extraordinarily strong soul. It was also because I have a pretty good talent in magecraft.
These four months, after painstaking cultivation, I managed to create four silent-cast runes. In this classroom, other than those talented two, the affluent Yulair and Yanny, who had created one or two silent-cast runes, everyone else does not even have a single silent-cast rune. However, no matter how many quick-cast runes were created, it was almost impossible to reach instant cast.
Thus, the trait of the quick-cast rune made it inferior to the silent-cast rune, but this did not mean that they were not useful.
Taking the Spellcaster class as an example, quick-cast runes far surpassed silent-cast runes in practical use. Because in the Spellcaster class, low-tier spells had four to six syllables; mid-tier spells had six to 10 syllables, and high-tier spells had 10 to 14 syllables.
Evidently, even those high-tier Spellcasters or even the Grand Spellcasters who were tier seven and above could not create six or seven silent-cast runes, not to mention 10.
But if you had 10 quick cast runes instead, along with four silent-cast runes, then for a peak high-tier spell with 14 syllables, the four silent-cast runes would first eliminate four syllables, while the 10 quick-cast runes would raise the chanting speed by 100%.
Then, this peak high-tier spell would only need five syllables worth of time (or 1.25 seconds) to cast. That was quite good as well.
Runes were not independent of each other from the start; they were meant to be used together.

Thales gazed at the emotionally unstable man before his eyes. Quick Rope's chest was heaving. Thales did not speak for a long time.
"You care a lot about them…"
Thales' gaze did not move. "Your father and elder brother."
Quick Rope froze for a moment.
His gaze dimmed.
"Do you have family members, Thales?"
Thales pursed his lips.
'Family members.'
A feeling he could not put into words surged through his mind.
'According to those memory fragments, I probably do.

Quick Rope arched an eyebrow as he remembered something.
"Sorry, I forgot." Quick Rope waved his hand under the dim light and flashed an apologetic smile. "Of course, that's what made you the only heir. You have a delicate status and you're forced to be the center of attention of all parties."
Thales nodded without a word.
"But I do."
Quick Rope's smile slowly faded. "Ever since the day I could remember, I was told that I had a wise, might father and an exemplary brother.
"My father was very strict and cold. As the king of the entire Kingdom of the Great Dragon, he always had endless governmental affairs to deal with. Additionally, the reasons he gave for the things he did were always irrefutable.
"On the other hand, my elder brother was very outstanding. He was dazzling, bold, and battle-seasoned. His prestige was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people."
Quick Rope shifted his shoulders, and his face was hidden in the darkness where the light from the flame could not reach. His expression could not be distinguished. "As for me, King Nuven's second son and Prince Soria's younger brother…"
He was silent for a while before he lifted his head.
"Thales, for eighteen years, the pitiful second son could only live in the shadows of his outstanding father and elder brother. I ran after their footsteps and ran after their world. Quick Rope inhaled deeply, and there was a barely-noticeable mocking tone in his voice.
"As the younger brother of the future king, once I reached adulthood, I would be given full ownership of a small land after I am conferred the title of baron or viscount. I would have my own family name and my own family as I bask in the glory of being an offshoot of the Dragon Spear Family. Or, I would become a chess piece for a political marriage and get married, have children, grow old and die under the king's watchful eyes. Then I would just wait for the later generation to write my name in the family archives of both families.
"Any behavior they considered overstepping my boundaries was wrong, and any disrespectful thought was a crime. If I appeared too extraordinary or remarkable, people would suspect that I was being goaded to do so by deceitful and untrustworthy officials hidden in the dark."
Thales looked at Quick Rope as he tried his best to imagine how the former Prince Moriah was like.
Quick Rope returned to his aloof self and said without any shred of emotion, "That was the first half of my life, or the life I once thought I would have."
There was silence.
"However, that did not continue." In the silence, Thales spoke in a soft voice, "Accidents always happen all of a sudden."
Quick Rope turned to Thales and curled up the corners of his lips a little.
"Yes, it's exactly as you think," the former prince faintly said.
"Eighteen years ago on the night before the war, when I was sleeping, Nicholas and his guards brought me out of the castle in my rural territory. It was the place I thought I would grow old and die in. But they took me back to Dragon Clouds City."
Quick Rope's gaze froze, and his voice was empty.
"Soria lay there."
Thales sighed and recalled what many people said about Nuven's eldest son.
"Yes, that Soria. The elder brother I once regarded with deep respect and awe, the one who made me ashamed of my own unworthiness, and whom I was resentful towards, was lying down quietly in the Hall of Heroes just like that. He was not moving at all. His face was pale, and gold coins covered his eyes. Meanwhile, there was a longsword in his hands.
"Our age gap was really big, and we didn't usually talk to each other that much. Yet, that moment felt like the closest I had ever been to him, and we were no longer estranged."
In a dull manner, Quick Rope said, "That day, my father, who once cut a bold and heroic figure, seemed to have suddenly aged by twenty years. He said many things to his second son, whom he had always been indifferent towards and let do whatever he wanted. He spoke of the king's power, the relationship between the archdukes, their attitudes towards their vassals, and the impending war… But I wasn't able to take in anything; my mind was filled with Soria's pale face.
"That night, I became the heir to the throne."
Thales sighed softly. For some reason, he thought of the day he was recognized as the Second Prince of Constellation in Renaissance Palace.
"During the first ten or so years of your life, everyone reprimanded you and made you a submissive, obedient teenager who couldn't even go the slightest bit out of line. But after one night, all of them then turned and forced you to become a brilliant, majestic prince."
Quick Rope's tone was dull and lifeless. There was a hint of mockery in his words. "This damned fate. After I experienced confusion, envy, jealousy, hatred, pain, indignance, and eventually gave up, fate toyed with me again, as though my life is a dramatic play or something."
He sneered.
"Did you know what I saw in that hell when I sat in that seat?"
Thales lifted his head and looked straight into Quick Rope's eyes.
"The twisted nature of man," the former Prince Moriah uttered these words with a cold expression.

"They were all twisted, Thales, twisted," Quick Rope's voice echoed in the room.
"All of them, including my father and elder brother, were twisted and held captive, Thales. They were held captive and enslaved by power. They lost themselves because of power."
The former Prince of Eckstedt coldly said, "They became something else while they were bound by those shackles. They were apathetic tools, cold-blooded scums, and paranoid tyrants. They were everything but themselves."
Thales was taken aback.
A conversation he had a long time ago with someone else echoed in his mind again.
'"The things that are truly scary and terrifying are not the calamities."'
'"But ourselves."'

"I don't know how Soria died, and no one told me what that suspicious hunting trip was about. However, ever since I became the damned heir, I felt that I understood one fact: Soria was fated to die.
"Not because of a certain person, conspiracy or accident. It was due to his position. Even more so, it was due to him being born to tread this path and live in this environment. His resolution, callousness, and ambition were an omen. While he was used to advancing in the dark, navigating through cunning schemes with great ease, going back and forth when it came to politics, waving his sword in the battlefield and climbing the snow peak while wind and frost blew against his face in the Kingdom of the Great Dragon… it meant that he would one day die from them, sooner or later. "Are these all your reasons for running away?"
Thales relaxed his grip around the dagger behind his waist and sighed. "When both King Nuven and Poffret told me your story, there was always a girl involved."
Quick Rope stirred slightly.
He sat up straight without realizing it himself.
It was rare, but Quick Rope flashed a smile that was not gloomy. "If you heard it from them, they probably said nothing good."
Thales arched an eyebrow. "So?"
Quick Rope froze for a moment. He then glanced at the Prince of Constellation with a strange gaze. When he spoke next, his tone was profound and gentle.
"Thales, you're young. But… have you ever loved someone, or, been loved by someone?"
"Sometimes, immature love is all the more unforgettable," Quick Rope said quietly.
Thales was about to shake his head.
However, at that moment, he recalled a voice.
It was a gentle and pleasing female voice, which had only appeared in his memory fragments.
'"What? Love stems from affairs? It sounds so exciting…"'
His body went stiff, stopping him from shaking his head.
'"Then, is what we're doing right now considered an affair…"'
It was the voice that made him subconsciously tremble, and caused him pain everytime it appeared.

"It is a form of happiness, whether it is you caring about someone, or someone caring about you…" he said airily.

His name is Ushiwakamaru (牛 若 丸), better known by his adult name, Minamoto no Yoshitsune (源 義 経).  It would not be an exaggeration to say that Ushiwakamaru (Minamoto no Yoshitsune) was the most famous military commander in Japanese history.  Maybe only someone like Oda Nobunaga had a popularity rivaling him.  However, there are many things that are unclear in terms of its history, especially the early half of his life before becoming a knight is still shrouded in mystery.

It has been said that at the age of 11, while he was under the care of Kurama Shrine, Ushiwakamaru met the onmyouji Kiichi Hogen (some theories say that he was also a Kurama Tengu) and was gifted with the art of war.

Being separated from his parents when he was very young, he was disciplined by Tengu in the mountains.  Then, he couldn't develop his "humanity".  Similar to a beast, he fought everything for his master.  He released all expression from himself by slaughtering his enemies.  Yoritomo was afraid of that, and Ushiwakamaru's circumstances did not increase his popularity.  It might not be found that its fangs could turn towards its allies to rip off their attractive yet deceiving outward appearance.  They are afraid of their inhuman nature.

After he destroyed the Taira clan, Yoritomo immediately started eliminating Ushiwakamaru.  Her social position had not yet settled within their clan, and if she didn't destroy it, she would always be anxious about the future.  After all, Yoshitsune didn't understand politics.  He doesn't understand the human heart.  If his relative resembled a primitive beast, then Yoritomo could not create the era he coveted. Also, as far as Hojo Masako, his brother's wife, was concerned, someone like Minamoto no Yoshitsune might not be needed.  Thus, she would behave as if she was her brother's enemy, doing nothing but fighting and dying in battle, all according to her brother's wishes.  Even though Ushiwakamaru thought that, his subordinates persuaded him, and he decided to flee to Oshu.  However, Yoritomo was constantly chasing him.  He saw her not as family, but as an inhuman monster and continued to chase him.
   On the nasuverse, she looked like a young girl in armor.
   Ushiwakamaru is a genius swordsman who admires his older brother, Minamoto no Yoritomo.  She respects him as a samurai and loves him for being his brother.  Even though he tried not to be arrogant, he said that he was the most exemplary older brother in the world.

Ushiwakamaru loves to have fun.  When he was a child, he was a bit naughty for spending his days playing pranks on adults as a hobby and causing trouble for the monks, laughing out loud.
   A beautiful swordsman who was disciplined, even scolding his Master for being careless.  Although her figure is beautiful, it shows an appearance like a flower blooming in the middle of the night.  He can't express himself, sometimes speaks as necessary, but he lacks the trait that can convey a beautiful voice that can attract 10,000 people to listen to him with excitement / passion.  Besides, he never boasted of his extraordinary martial arts.
   Since his character is straightdorward and not fake, everything Ushiwakamaru does is really the fastest way to the goal.  When ordinary people do this, they usually fail and reflect on their failures, and then from there, they consider and polish various plans.  The problem is, Ushiwakamaru is a genius who never fails.

In Babylon's singularity, Gilgamesh summoned Ushiwakamaru with Benkei.  Ushiwakamaru, along with Benkei and Leonidas, accompanied Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mashu Kyrielight in Babylon.  As Mashu and Ritsuka struggled to escape from the Gorgon (when Tiamat was possessed), he stood up straight to buy time so the two of them could escape.  Although he fought bravely and managed to overcome the Gorgon's attacks, Ushiwakamaru was ultimately defeated and killed.
   Ushiwakamaru's soul was later damaged by Chaos Tide and he was resurrected as an undead to fight Ritsuka and Mashu as they tried to defeat Tiamat.  His class is Berserker.

 As R, he deserves thumbs up because of the NP damage he competes with the Goldies.  Given his OC effect, he can be a quite reliable star maker depending on the situation.
