Levi walked into 7 Eastbourne that late afternoon; upon his entrance in the small building's main door, he immediately heard Mrs. Hudson's familiar voice. His brows furrowed in both annoyance and curiosity; she was laughing, as to why he doesn't know. But in his opinion, it sounded like she was torturing their neighbor's corgis. But what caught his interest most was the fact that her laughter was coming from HIS flat upstairs. 
He shook his head for a moment and turned right to enter the agency door; his eyes landed on the boys. All of them sat on their desks with either writing on files or talking to someone through the phone. Their brows furrowed in concentration; everyone was busy. To the slicked blond, that was a good sign; money was coming in thanks to the leprechaun gods. He and Marco had even been considering employing a new person to help with the boys' work. Hopefully, it will help lighten the load on each of them.
However, as fortunate as they were that clients kept coming to their door, it was unfortunate for the Irishman that cases he considered interesting were rare. And he had to depend on Davies' cases for mental entertainment. Levi turned to Mike, "I'll be upstairs. Call me if you need me." he said, earning a curt nod, and he exited back out of the door and climbed up to his flat.
COnfirming that the laughing was coming from his flat, his eyes narrowed at the door, and he entered. Eyes rested on his housekeeper and a woman in her late 70's. The two older women were seated on his sofa and having tea. 
Mrs. Whitehall turned to the door when she heard it swing open, and she smiled. "Levi, wonderful you're back," she said, a cup of tea in hand. The Irishman shrugged his coat, ignoring his housekeeper; he was not in the mood for company.
He turned impassively to look at Mrs. Whitehall and the stranger in his living room. He was about to utter "Do Tea parties in your flat, Mrs. Whitehall!" when the flabby old woman recognized the annoyed look on his face and interrupted him by saying, "This is Mrs. Murdoch." and she shot him a warning look. Levi closed his mouth immediately, and he froze on his spot before he started an ungraceful rant.
His hazel eyes studied the woman sitting on his couch, graying shoulder-length hair. She had a hand of a gardener and the stature of an Orchestra player--Piano. He could tell she was in her late 70's. She was old, too old to be Jason Murdoch's wife if he even had any. He frowned; he'd seen that woman before, but where?
His brain raced for an answer, then it hit him, a photo flashing in his mind, a picture on Sam's office table. The redhead was wearing a toga in her teens, smiling with a woman and a man in their 50's. Behind them was Caltech's Millikan building.
"Sam's grandmother." Levi and Mrs. Whitehall said in unison.
Monica Murdoch smiled up at the tall Irishman; she found him too posh-looking for her taste, yet undeniably handsome. He had a set of full blond hair and a striking set of eyes, and a chiseled jaw. He had a good posture in him, which the older woman found attractive.
Levi extended his hand to Monica, which she took happily, "Levi Jackson, pleasure." He said, giving her his signature smile. His day just got interesting, he thought. 
Monica smiled at him, "I know, it's good to meet you finally. Monica Murdoch, Sammy's grandma." She said, smiling, a smile that reminded him of Sam's.
As intrigued as he was that the woman was there, Levi silently wondered what she was doing there in the first place. Based on the small luggage sitting on the corner of his living room, the older woman recently arrived straight from LA.
Levi sat and accepted the tea Mrs. Whitehall offered, and the two shared trivial pleasantries. And when Mrs. Hudson excused herself, the slicked blond turned to look at the woman sitting across him, "How can I be of assistance, Mrs. Murdoch?" he asked, feigning more interest than usual. He knew she came there for a reason.
"Just Monica or Nana, Dear. No need to be so formal--you are dating my granddaughter after all", the woman spoke gently, earning a wide smile from the slicked blond. How could he forget, yes, he was 'dating' the redhead--something he plots to make a reality, and he reckoned that making sure her grandmother felt welcome would help his case. 
Subconsciously the Irishman took notes on the woman; something was calming about her presence. It was the fact that the words that came out of her mouth were filled with confidence; she didn't fumble with her words or think her thoughts over. Making Levi believe she was as blunt as they come.
"Monica, then," Levi replied, smiling. Causing the older woman to laugh gently amused at his response, she found him earnest, even though he wore a constant smile on his face.
Monica explained that she planned on surprising Sam, and she thought she'd show up in her boyfriend's apartment--knowing full well of the 'couple's' Saturday date night from none other than Elle Hart.
Mrs. Whitehall returned minutes later, and the two older women shared stories while Levi sat at his desk, reading through some of his emails. Hoping he'd receive something exciting. 
"It was only a few years later when she moved in with us that my late husband and I noticed that Sammy was not a normal child. Monica shared while Levi sat quietly, listening secretly at their conversation--which was unlike him. Monica continued with her story, happy to have someone to share stories about her beloved granddaughter. "In fact, for every game she played, she compulsively invented new rules, usually coherent, and entertaining -- which her Doctor assured was normal with other very bright children." Mrs. Whitehall listened attentively while she chewed on some biscuits.

Next day, the class started as usual, 
Use of signs, expression and basic language were taught,
101 clearly understood the sign, and expression, but language was still hard to comprehend even for him.
Days passed, the daily routine was same,
First wake up, early in the morning, the class would then start, the children were then left alone in the room, so they could play with each other, none of them knew how to speak, they would simply play with the toys given to them, most of them were in groups,
In order to fit in, even 101 was inside a group, it was made up of 3 kids, Number 101, Number 18, Number 71,
All of them were similar in height,
Number 101 had deep-black eyes, and black hair, Number 18 and Number 71 both had white hair, Number 18 had blue gem like eyes, while Number 71 had black abyss like eyes,
Different types of puzzles were given to them, one of them was a wooden box with holes of different shapes, next was wooden blocks with different shapes, by keeping the correct wooden block in the correct hole, the puzzle could be solved,
Three of them tried to solve it, Number 18 was the first to solve it, followed by Number 71, Number 101 did not even try he was simply observing the other two, he noticed every child in here was unlike normal children, their cognitive and comprehensive abilities were unlike normal children, they learnt in an incredible rate,
Number 18, noticed Number 101 had not solved the puzzle yet, thinking he could not solve the puzzle, Number 18 took one of the triangular blocks and inserted it in a triangular hole, while showing it to Number 101, 
Number 101 looked at Number 18, she was smiling, they could not speak, but from her expression he could tell, she was trying to say, "This is how you solve it, you should try it too, it's fun", 
He smiled a little, then solved the puzzle,
Number 71 did not care about others, he simply looked at the puzzles, and solved as much as he could, in most classes he would be the one who would solve the most puzzles.
In the night most kids would simply sleep for around 10 hours, but Number 101 was different, he wanted to learn, but the situation was not favorable for him, if he could read then he would be able to read books, thus be able to obtain information,
But they had not started to teach about writing, he did not have any books or papers, he could only wait,  
He would also not sleep for 10 hours, he would mostly meditate, it was a habit from his previous life, next he would do light exercise, his body was still that of a 6-year-old, he did not push it too much, 
 
The Days Continued,
After a week, most kids started to speak, little by little,

The reason Number 71 choose to stay in this group was mostly because of the quite atmosphere and an unfamiliar yet strange feeling of similarity, Number 101 choose to stay because he did not want to join any sort of big group neither did, he want to stand out, Number 18 choose to stay was because of the uniqueness she felt in them compared to others.

The kids started to introduce themselves, today they were taught about basic greeting and introduction

Days passed,
The moment had finally arrived, papers and pen were distributed, they started to teach about letters and how to write,

In the end some assignments were given,

The kids were taken to a library,
The library was filled with simple story books, and history books, the kids were not allowed to learn history right now,

Yet, the books were given so they could slowly start to comprehend the contents while learning in the class,
It was night time,
101 was sitting in his bed, trying to read the book, however it was not easy, even if he had 200 years of memories, his mind right now was still that of a child, he could not instantly understand all of it,
He had to read letter by letter, just reading one line took more than 5 mins,
He shook his head, "This won't do", he said to himself
Using his previous knowledge, he thought for ways to learn language faster,
The best way he could think right now was translation,
He would read the contents in the foreign language, then write it down in his own language,
By using his original language as a comparison for another language, it would increase his comprehension but would also require more effort,
He was not afraid of the effort it required, but if someone else found the pages where he translated the book, it would arouse, suspicion, that was a problem,
His sights then went towards the candle,

However, Number 101 had finished translating around 1/3 of the book, Number 71 was talented, with ever word he read, his comprehension increased in a rapid rate, but Number 101 progress was even faster as his method was superior and he also had a habit of learning new languages,
In the first day he could only translate half a page, in the second he completed 2 pages, in the third day 5 pages, his progress just increased, and after 2 weeks, he had translated over 100 pages,
Not only that he had also gained various insights,
Insights about this world, 
The books given were simple story books,
But even though they were just short and simple stories various things could be deduced from it,
Like what time period it was? what kind of cultures were present in this world?
Those were simple things but it was a start,

Those words had now just decided what kind of life they would life from now on,

Every night, when he rested on his bed and looked back on his way of life. He discovered nothing but regrets. 

But what could he do then? 

He was now old and out of time—he could do nothing but accept his life choices and pray that he acquire enough wisdom to experience life with little regrets in the next life.

He then poured out some iced tea from a glass container, and offered it to you. You thirstily gulped it down, and asked for more.

You looked at her, and muttered, "Thanks." You then observed her. She wore black, smooth, lustrous leather shoes. "Nice shoes," you noticed.
She smiled. "My dear husband gave this pair to me on my birthday. I was always on a wheelchair, so those shoes are more of a gift, and less of a necessity." You nodded, and continued to watch the show. The magician then pulled a pigeon from his hat, exclaiming, "That's not the trick!" He then pulled out a box. There was an albino rabbit in the box. He then put the pigeon in the box.
He put a black tablecloth over the box. He snapped his fingers, and removed the tablecloth. The box was still there, but the rabbit and the pigeon disappeared. Everyone except Detective W gasped in surprise.
An African American man who sat next to Detective W surmised, "There's probably a mechanism or some secret compartment that's under the table." Detective W nodded, and noticed that the man was wearing a golden watch. "Nice watch there, my friend," Detective W commented.
The man agreed. "That's a hard earned purchase. What's your name, brother?"
Detective W instantly replied, "Just call me W. Yours?"

"Malik Myers," he answered.
The magician decided to surprise everyone by pulling a green python out from his arm.The audience "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed at the python. Lyn gripped Detective W's arm in fear. A wiry-framed woman wearing glasses explained, "No need to worry, kid. Pythons are generally harmless, and will only attack if provoked. By the way, I'm Maria, local Owlsburgh zoologist."
Lyn quickly told her name. Keith then offered people a chance to touch the python, and observe the security box he's going to put the python in. The three people who you three just met walked up to the stage and touched the python and the security box. 
Afterwards, the magician put the python in the box, locked the box, and shook it. He snapped his fingers. "3... 2... 1!" he unlocked the box, and the python vanished. An astonished "WOW" could be heard all over the atrium.
Keith then pulled a diamond ring from his pocket. "My wife's diamond ring!" he exclaimed jubilantly. Suddenly, the lights went off. The audience was thrown into temporary darkness, and chaos ensued. You couldn't see anything. All you heard was Keith's loud grunts. It sounded like he was fighting something. Something then crashed to the floor. The pigeon squawked loudly.

You nodded, and continued to watch the show. The magician then pulled a pigeon from his hat, exclaiming, "That's not the trick!" He then pulled out a box. There was an albino rabbit in the box. He then put the pigeon in the box. 

He put a black tablecloth over the box. He snapped his fingers, and removed the tablecloth. The box was still there, but the rabbit and the pigeon disappeared. Everyone except Detective W gasped in surprise. 

 An African American man who sat next to Detective W surmised, "There's probably a mechanism or some secret compartment that's under the table." Detective W nodded, and noticed that the man was wearing a golden watch. "Nice watch there, my friend," Detective W commented. 

The man agreed. "That's a hard earned purchase. What's your name, brother?" 

 Detective W instantly replied, "Just call me W. Yours?" 

 "Malik Myers," he answered. 

 The magician decided to surprise everyone by pulling a green python out from his arm.The audience "ooh"ed and "ahh"ed at the python. Lyn gripped Detective W's arm in fear. A wiry-framed woman wearing glasses explained, "No need to worry, kid. Pythons are generally harmless, and will only attack if provoked. By the way, I'm Maria, local Owlsburgh zoologist." 

 Lyn quickly told her name. Keith then offered people a chance to touch the python, and observe the security box he's going to put the python in. The three people who you three just met walked up to the stage and touched the python and the security box. 

Afterwards, the magician put the python in the box, locked the box, and shook it. He snapped his fingers. "3... 2... 1!" he unlocked the box, and the python vanished. An astonished "WOW" could be heard all over the atrium. 

 Keith then pulled a diamond ring from his pocket. "My wife's diamond ring!" he exclaimed jubilantly. Suddenly, the lights went off. The audience was thrown into temporary darkness, and chaos ensued. You couldn't see anything. All you heard was Keith's loud grunts. It sounded like he was fighting something. Something then crashed to the floor. The pigeon squawked loudly. 

 You thrust your hand in your pockets, scrambling for your phone. But, by then, it was too late. Once you turned on your phone's flashlight, you found Keith sprawled on the ground, searching for something. There was no one else on the stage. 

 Thankfully, the lights came back on, and that was when Keith revealed the bad news. "My diamond ring is missing! What should I do?!! Can someone find it for me?" he bemoaned the situation. Detective W volunteered, and ordered you to watch the front row people. He, along with a few other people from the back, searched the stage and the audiences. It was nowhere to be found. 

 Keith's worst fears came true. "Someone must have stolen the ring!" he cried out in despair. "Oh, what should I do?! My wife's gonna kill me..." 

 Detective W coughed, and introduced himself. "I'm Detective W, a local detective. Good evening, Mr. Hollandale. I will do all that I can to help you find your diamond ring!" The magician, hearing that, gratefully bowed to Detective W. "Thank you!" he exclaimed, almost bursting into tears. 

 Detective W got off the stage, and looked at you. "You followed my instructions in the email, right? Brought a pen/pencil and a notebook/notepad?" he asked. You nodded, and took them out, ready to take notes. Detective W then began his questions. 

 "Audience in the left or right edge, have you felt anyone trying to go over you when the lights shut off? Felt anyone stepping on your toes, going over your legs, for example? Raise your hands if you did. Otherwise, keep them down." 

 No one rose their hands. 

 That's obvious, you reflected as you wrote your thoughts down. The ones in the middle columns are the least suspicious-especially the center audiences. For the ones that aren't in wheelchairs, the rest have to move over a lot of people. The blackout only lasted for about 2 minutes. 

The back is also not likely, you continued thinking. Getting back and forth, with all this obstacles, and in the total darkness, would take quite a while to get used to. Plus, it sounded like Keith was struggling with someone. This whole ordeal took place under 2 minutes. Getting to the stage and correctly finding Mr. Keith in the darkness, and steal his ring from his hand... that's pretty much impossible! Looks like the most suspicious ones are in the first row! They're the closest to stage, and they had enough time! 

 Detective W took a look at what you're writing. "Nice logic," he stated. "However, we can take out the front row kids. They don't have enough strength to make adults struggle." You continued writing. So, it's only the adults and teenagers that are suspects, and that's Lyn, Maria, Malik, and that young lady! 

 But, wait... she's on a wheelchair... 

 You presented your paper to Detective W, and he said this one thing, "Sometimes the least likely one could be the answer." 

 Detective W called the front rows suspects on to the stage. Lyn walked with crutches, and you pushed the old lady's wheelchair. Detective W bowed, and solemnly uttered, "Thanks, everyone, for being up here today." he walked to the young lady. "Ma'am, your name, please." 

 The young lady sweetly introduced herself, "Janice. Janice Fan." 

 He told you to take down notes you observed. You looked at the four, and wrote: 

 Janice: In a wheelchair. Nice leather shoes. Signs of wrinkles and creases. 

 Malik: Nice watch. OK clothes. White shirts looks a bit disheveled, dirty. 

 Maria: Sat next to Lyn. Designer glasses. Has a pink purse. 

 Lyn: Broken leg. Nice necklace. Nothing outstanding. 

 Detective W then asked Keith, "Where was the diamond ring before it was stolen?" 

 Keith lamented, "It was right in my right hand before the lights went out. I felt someone prying my hand open. So, I fought back. I kicked the thief, and heard a grunt. The thief probably crashed into my tricks box. That explains all of my scattered wands, cards and things. When the lights came back on, my ring was out of my hand! 

 You wrote that down. "Okay," Detective W continued, "Now, I want you all to answer truthfully. Do you have any monetary problems currently?" 

 Lyn wondered, "Um... W, why am I a suspect?" Detective W chuckled, "That's right. I saw you taking your X-rays 3 days ago. You had a fracture. My bad, Lyn." 

 Some of the audience began to leave. Detective W didn't mind, and resumed, "Let's begin with you, Janice." 

Janice explained, "My... my husband died. I wanted to hold a funeral for him. But... but... I don't have the money..." Tears dropped from her face. 

 "How about Malik?" 

 Malik responded with a light chuckle, "I used up quite a bit of my savings to buy this golden watch. So, yeah, my rent's in trouble..." 

 "Maria?" 

 Maria "ehm"ed and "ahh"ed for a while, and looked at the floor for a bit, and said in a meek voice, "Zoology is my passion... but it doesn't pay the bills..." 

 You gave Detective W a thumbs up, signaling that you have wrote all of that down. You realized they all have their own motives. You could see Detective W pondering, and you heard him mutter, "I'm getting close... but I'm still stuck somewhere... how about two more questions...?" 

 After a minute, Detective W confidently went with this. "Why are you all in the hospital?" 

 You facepalmed yourself, thinking that it was a silly question. But, they all answered. Janice responded, "I was always paralyzed hip down when I was young. So, I've always went to this hospital for checkups and other good things." 

 Maria and Malik both answered that they are going to see their relatives. Detective W pulled out a pen, and twirled it around. He was staring at the ceiling, pondering for the final question. 

 By then, many people have left. Only the few who are interested in this case stayed. Detective W snapped his fingers, and declared, "Aha!" You were observing Mr. Keith at the same time, and found something interesting. 

 "Hey," you whispered to Keith, "What's that near the cuffs of your pants?" You both smelled it. It smelled like gasoline, and it left a black stain on Mr. Hollandale's pants. 

 You told this new discovery to Detective W. He instantly exclaimed, "Thanks! No need for the final question, then! I'm 90% sure who the thief is!" 

 You looked at what you wrote, and blinked. Really? you wondered. Who is the thief?

Honestly, how could one compare a child to another?
What parents needed to do was to inject self-confidence in their kids. They had to let their children know that they were the best in their eyes. The adults had to encourage their children whenever they completed a task to the best of their ability. The last thing adults should be doing was compare kids with one another; this would crush the little ones' self-confidence. Gradually, the kids would lose the motivation to work hard because, subconsciously, 'the other children' would always be better no matter how hard they tried.
Someone among them popped a question to the actress suddenly. "Ms. Yun, who is looking after your children?"
The woman replied with a smile, "Before I entered showbiz, I was an employee in a busy company, but still, I've always been the one to look after my son. Youyou has been an independent child since he was much younger. He could wear his own clothes by himself when he was three. At four years old, he learned to stand on a small, wooden stool to cook! I'm not sure why, but he's been very intelligent and sweet since small. He's obedient, thoughtful and respectful to the elders as well. The only thing is that he may be too quiet for his own good at times. The most amazing thing about him is his cooking is comparable to a professional chef!" 
She was reserved in singing her praise about her son, but that did not reduce the astonishment the listeners felt when they heard her description.
Everyone was dumbfounded, actually.

They could not believe their ears.

The actress commented, "You can't make this a habit, though. If he's not gonna eat his food, then you should ignore him and eat by yourself, but make sure you don't start feeding him again when he gives you a pitiful look when he's hungry! If not, it'll lead to a bad habit when he thinks that you're obligated to feed him at his whims. The child will become more unreasonable in this way."

Once the decision was made to leave quickly, it didn't take long, for them to gather everything up. Thanks to the system, he was able to absorb their entire farm. Marvin, Bart, and the other farmhands all agreed to come with them.

With their consent, he was able to absorb the entire surrounding area as well. Now that it was tucked away inside the space, it would remove any evidence, while allowing his parents and everyone to come along.

Popping up around the already existing farm inside his spatial world, they were quickly greeted by the citizens. His parents wouldn't be bored, they were recognized by the system, which gave them a lot of permissions.

His father saw men fishing, off to the side of a small stream. Kissing his wife, he grabbed some of his fishing equipment, eager to join them. Laughing playfully, she handed him the tackle box, when he came back a minute later.

Heading over to the restaurant, she saw that the menu was missing a few things. Putting on an apron, she headed into the pantry to gather some ingredients. The legendary 'home cooking' was about to be added to the menu.

Seeing the world for the first time, the farmhands and their families were impressed. This was an amazing place, clean and free of danger. Witnessing the farm, they saw how it sprouted its own crops while absorbing others.

Everyone could see, that not only was it a much better location, but they'd also have a lot more free time to relax and enjoy themselves. Naturally, people would work to increase the space, mixing a bit of the spatial earth and water each day.

Taking steps to ensure that everyone stayed happy and healthy, Zanir introduced a new building. Titled the 'Recreation Room', it was a building that had a single large room, sectioned off into a few different spaces.

The main section was the largest, there were a few tables, where people could eat together or relax and play games. He'd produced a few basic dice and cards, using the system to print out a few books, that detailed the various games you could play.

Off to one side, there a sectioned off area, where younger children could play. It was padded to ensure they couldn't hurt themselves. It was filled with a variety of bright and colorful toys, he'd hoped they would like them.

Using the system, he'd produced some wooden blocks with letters on them. They could be stacked and arranged. There were also various toy figurines carved out, varying from knights and mages to boats and carriages.

He'd also placed a few basic coloring books, using wax the system dyed as crayons. Making sure they were safe and non-toxic, he knew these would delight the children. Before moving on, he also created a set of building blocks.

Interconnecting pieces, allowed them to build anything they wanted to. With all of these things, the kids here would be happier. That, in turn, would also make the parents happier. Moving over to the last section, he wanted to create something for the older residents.

Transforming the final section, he designed it into a comfortable mini parlor. Blocking off some of the noise, it would give them a quiet spot where they could relax. With several comfortable recliner style chairs, they could relax in here together.

To help keep their minds sharp, he put in several things, like chess and checkers. There were also several kinds of crossword puzzles, word searches, and numbers games like Sudoku. Stepping back, he inspected his work.

Satisfied, he looked around and saw that it had something for all ages and groups. Hopefully, this would become, a place where the community could gather, to both have fun and relax. The last thing he wanted, was for anyone to feel stifled or trapped in the spatial world.

With the introduction and overview complete, he cut the big red ribbon in front of the building. Everyone cheered and clapped, people only had the simplest games and toys here, not even the largest cities had a dedicated rec room.

It didn't take long for everyone to shuffle in, exploring the area. The kids were the fastest, they all ran in, screaming with delight when they saw so many toys. Seeing the various kids playing together, the parents were moved.

Children were inherently innocent for the most part; they didn't discriminate against people. The farmhand's children had no issue playing with the kids who were formerly homeless. Kids just see another kid, there wasn't a distinction in social class.

Now that the children had started playing, their parents sat together in the middle section, watching over them. Introducing themselves, they quickly made friends, learning how to play card and dice games. Talking about their respective kids, the parents found out they had a lot in common.

With noisy kids playing, the older crowd moved into the mini parlor area. Seeing the comfy recliners and chairs, they helped each other get settled in. Soon they were chatting happily about 'the good old days'.

Bringing out the puzzles and games, they were also having a great time, seeing such strange new ideas and concepts. Looking at everyone, having fun and enjoying the building, his friends and family were very proud.

This would go a long way to improving everyone's morale, which was a key aspect of the spatial world. It would also kill two birds with one stone, both being the right thing to do, while also gaining him more points, from even happier citizens.

Now that he'd taken his family, friends, and even his home with him, it was time to go. He wanted to stop by Trostin, completing his deals quickly there, before setting off for the first mission. With nothing holding him back, any longer, he was now free to travel the world at large.

"Wait, if you can make coloring books, doesn't that mean you can make comic books?"

"Haha, just make a list of what you want Dante. I'll see how much they cost from my system."

Taking a few guards out of the system, he repaired the land, so it wasn't completely barren, while Dante got the carriage ready. Once they finished up, they headed down the road towards Trostin.

I watch my brown flats take steps across the glossy white tiles, pulling my weekend bag behind me as I check my phone for the fourth time. Thank god I'm back on flat land; sitting for thirteen hours, at thirty thousand feet above the ground, is long enough. If only Gabe was here because I'm stuck with a five-hour transit at Terminal 3, Singapore Changi Airport while I wait to go sky high again. 
What the heck am I going to do with myself for five hours at the airport? I don't particularly like duty free shopping, and I can only enjoy surfing on the internet for so long.?Oh, what the heck. I walk a bit faster, eager to check out the shops. Let's see what the airport has. 
Fifty-five minutes pass and I would be happy to never look at souvenirs, key chains, and calendars again. I bought a pack of hand creams for mum, a polo shirt for dad, and a silk shirt and belt for Hansley. Tristan's gift is already with me. I wasn't planning on getting him something, but as soon as I saw it, I knew it was perfect  a medium sized charcoal print of a canal. I figure his new place looked a bit bare, and could use the decoration. 
And of course, I buy chocolates! Belgian chocolate, Swiss, ganache; anything and everything that catches my eye. I plan on making gift bags for the family and Gabe when I get back. 
I got something for myself as well. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to buy it: an emerald green strappy dress that sits just below the knee. It is perfect and hugs my body in all the right places and gives me that extra oomph that my other clothes don't.?It feels so amazing and comfortable. In fact, I liked it so much that I asked the girl to cut the tag off at the counter to wear it out of the shop. 
My shopping crusade finished, I still have another four hours to go, and I make my way to the food court, walking slowly while hordes of stressed travellers dart around to get to their gates. 
After purchasing a large coffee and freshly toasted banana bread, I grab an empty table in the middle of the food court and sit down on the thin wooden chair. I open up my weekender bag and take out my laptop, eager to get the WiFi connected. 
Normally I can't help myself, and I find myself checking my emails obsessively whenever I have my laptop open. But I did that before I left, so I'm going to give myself a break and do some online jigsaw puzzles. Scrolling through the homepage, I look at least fifty puzzles trying to find the perfect one.Finally, I decide on a 500 piece, a Monet style painting of the Eiffel Tower. Wouldn't it be nice to go to Paris one day?
After twenty minutes of playing, I've completed two puzzles and I decide to take a break and get a good look at the painting of me again. Zipping it out of my bag, I take it carefully out of the envelope to gaze upon it again. I could look at it all day, it is so pretty. What type of frame should I buy for it? Where should I put it? 
I used to make these decisions with Adam, but now I'll be making them on my own, because I will be going home to an empty apartment. I'll be living on my own for the first time in six years, the idea scares me. But at least I can make the place as fashionable as possible, so I can live in style; even if it's alone. 
As I start touching the edges of the cherry red lips on the thick paper, I can hear someone walking behind me.
"Pretty girl," the man speaks, he has a smoky voice. It sounds awfully familiar. "Do you know her?"
"I am her," I mutter.
The man sniggers. "Yeah right, you don't look like that."
What a rude prick. I keep my back to him, keen to ignore him in the hopes he will go away. 
"Can I get through?" he asks gruffly. 
Putting the painting down on the table, I pull my chair inwards, keeping my eyes peeled to the table. He is starting to get on my nerves, but I'm choosing to ignore him.
"I was talking to you, Miss Straight-laced," he says, even more huskily. 
I look up from the table, frozen at the sound of it. There's only one person in the world who calls me that. It can't be, it can't be. Before I get a chance to put two and two together he walks a few steps to stand in front of me, and my heart ceases to function. 
It's Tristan. My heart is beating like a jackhammer at the sight of him in that flannel shirt and jeans. 
"That painting doesn't look like you." He smirks at me. 
"I know, you made that clear"
"You look much better in real life."
I blush. 
"I'm glad I bumped into you," he says, never failing to keep his eyes off me. 
"Is that right?" I raise an eyebrow at him. "I was going to let you know when I would arrive"
"No, I'm glad I bumped into you now. Because I can tell you all about the next wedding you're planning. And this time, I'm coming with you. Our first assignment together." Oh dear. Tristan and I going to another country and working together? What could possibly go wrong?
"I'm going to enjoy working with you Lacey, in a professional capacity of course." His eyes scan my face and hair, and then it lingers just a little longer on my décolletage and his jaw clenches tightly. "Even if it's going to be the death of me."
He's looking at me, the same way he did that day.
