Everybody there including Wei Kang himself was baffled by Song Ling'er's harsh assessment. How could such a wonderful performance be worth less than the others who were clearly worse, much less zero points?
"Maybe she's being especially harsh on him because of their master and disciple relationship. You see this very often— when the master purposefully degrades their own disciples so they can grow stronger and faster."
While everybody there felt that Wei Kang had deserved much better than zero points, who dared to challenge Song Ling'er's decision? Regarding her own disciple, no less.
After giving Wei Kang her verdict, Song Ling'er turned to look at the pretty young lady sitting beside him, her second disciple, Ai Wan, whose back was filled with cold sweat at this moment.
"Go ahead." Song Ling'er said to her a moment later.
"Yes, Master."
Ai Wan nodded, and she proceeded to take the full 30 seconds of preparation time to calm her mind and focus on the zither before her.
After taking a deep breath, Ai Wan played three music notes in a similar fashion to Wei Kang, yet it produced an entirely different sound, even giving off its unique atmosphere.
The audience could feel their bodies relaxing after hearing these music notes.
"Such a powerful yet peaceful note… How does she create such a wonderful sound?"
"I nearly dozed off after listening to her music notes!"
Sometime later, Senior Zou spoke with a smile on his face, "Wonderful! It's only been half a year since I've last heard you play and you've improved by leaps and bounds since then! A definite 10 points from me!"
"I am speechless, really." Elder Jing spoke next, and he said, "It's also a definite 10 points from me."
Once the two judges finished their assessments, everybody turned to look at Song Ling'er, and Ai Wan swallowed nervously.

Ye Futian also smiled. He continued playing the guqin but his aura had changed again. Now, he was like an emperor. He instantly blasted away Gu Biyue's image in his mind. At the same time, an undefeatable intent descended in Gu Biyue's mind, forcefully cutting off her Witch Requiem. Her powerful spiritual power burst forth to restrict that will. Her xiao stopped and she gazed at Ye Futian. The emperor-like figure stopped playing and smiled. He stood as if only he existed in the world.
Everyone's eyes were fixated on those two figures. This wasn't a tie. Gu Biyue had lost. In this battle of will, the Witch Requiem had lost.
Liu Chenyu stared at Ye Futian's figure. She thought of what Ye Wuchen had said. Now, it seemed that Ye Futian and Yu Sheng were definitely amazing and not below Ye Wuchen at all. They all specialized in different things.

One could only move on from being a student to a true musician recognized by the Musician Union and the sacred city after they reached the musician level.

Only those that had reached the third level were seen as truly useful because at this level, musicians no longer needed to manipulate aether for rushed live performances. They could store their musical scores into an instrument beforehand, and activate them using their thought.
The tight structure of music scores meant that they were extremely independent. Even if they were taken out, they would not scatter quickly. Instead, they could be stored in another medium. Even a simple measure could set it off.
The danger of musicians also sharply increased at this level. As long as they had stored the correct music sheet, a musician would be able to fight no matter what.

"Let us begin. Listen to the voices," he said quietly. "Do not let the pioneers pace for too long."
"I understand." Ye Qingxuan closed his eyes.

Abraham’s hymn began in the silence.
It seemed to come from afar, but it reverberated in Ye Qingxuan’s ear. There was an undercurrent of metal and stone scraping, as if wind was scraping rusted metal.
Formless awe filled the youth’s mind. He heard low rumblings like thunder. It was the sound of hundreds of voices chanting in unison. The voices guided his will, forcing him to join them, speaking with Abraham.
The silence was shattered. Ye Qingxuan’s voice became sharp like a blade, carving the vow in his fate and soul.

"Follow restrictions, as human ability is limited.
"Revere the aether; only the Originator is eternal."
When the last chant ended, all that remained was the last echo of the metallic vibrations dissipating in the air. The youth suddenly woke up from the trance. He did not know when he began to sweat.
In his extreme fatigue, he heard Abraham murmur, "Revere the aether."
"—Revere the aether," he replied tiredly with eyes closed.
"Rest for a bit," his professor said. "I will teach you the first class for all musicians in two hours—Equal Temperament."

Two hours later, when Ye Qingxuan was brought back to reality, he found the library packed.

Going from shallow to deep, they established a music law. By fixing the notion of musicians, the law gave notes a new definition and categorization. At that time, the categorization of runes was revolutionary.
Different from the "Pythagorean Tuning" and "Octave Interval," Bach directly created "Equal Temperament." Creating structure in chaos, it established a base of unprecedented size. Some even called it the start of the path to the Originator.
Before that, all research was like scrambling in darkness. The birth of this musical score was the end of the Dark Ages and the beginning of mankind’s golden era—the Renaissance.

The Arpio King jumped out from a tall tree falling like a meteor, its body bursting with baleful ki. The beast tried to crash into and squish Caine Sinatra, but it was instead blocked by a red barrier. This red energy barrier prevented the huge ape from approaching within ten meters of Caine. Within the boundary were music notes swimming around shining with increasing intensity. The Arpio King swept it's legs out to dropkick the barrier and then started stomping and banging on it like a crazed maniac. Caine knew that he didn't stand a chance against a king grade beast like this Arpio King without a powerful second rank spell.

All of the blood runes shot into the dangling nub that used to be a fist, and the beasts wailing, and angry howls came to a halt. The Arpio King was now standing dormant, as the musical energy barrier dissipated into nothing.

"What is he doing?" one of the students panicked.

Each and every one of her notes was intertwined to form a chilling mix of emotions. They touched the people in the audience, filling them with thoughts that were either buried deep in their minds or giving them memories they didn't even have themselves. 
The plucks of the high tones of the harp, the way it mixed into the complete organized mess of the main sound, the deep tones of the long, last string resonating in the room along with the sound. It was a very deafening, yet intriguing sound. It was setting off sirens in everyone's mind. Putting them on edge, moving them to tears as thoughts of pain and anguish resurface or filling them with thoughts of understanding as they could feel the terror in the sound of the piece, the signals, and sounds of bombs sounding over the music in a very disorganized yet in tune manner.
The feeling was absolutely surreal. 
There was no feeling of flying in the sky and no feeling of being at peace, there was only anxiety, pain, and sorrow in the mix of the notes that she played. It was this humbling emotion, one that brought their souls down to earth in mere seconds, one that reminded them of the hell they had to go through at times and how hard those times were.
All comfort that might have existed in that piece was now gone, only replaced by reality. The agonizing pain of reality. 
The memories stirred from her playing was of a mix of sorrowful, harsh memories. It was not only that of the generals that sat in the audience, their lips tightly pressed against each other as they remembered the blood-bathed battlefields and their fallen comrades. It only reached that of wives, their minds remembering a time as they would stay at home, patiently waiting for their husband's return after the war only to be met by their brooch and worse, a piece of their body when the rest couldn't be found. 
It reached those of young men as they re-lived the painful times in their childhood, whether they were training for war or facing an event in their life where they were harshly looked upon. The beady eyes of their parents and adults peering down at them. It touched those of the young women who carried the weight of their family on their shoulders as e prizes of their family. Forced to fit into the long line of rules society faces for them, squeezing into the mold premade for their future since their birth.
For the kids, it filled with a deep sense of sadness of not knowing what was to come of them as they were all aware of the expectations they have to live up to. The norms they must follow to grow into the most perfect lady or gentlemen.
Annabeth's fingers rolled up to the thin notes and this time instead of playing it cleanly, ran her finger down the string as she plucked, giving it a very raspy sound that rang into the main theme. Like fingers clawing down on a chalkboard, the people in the crowd jumped at the sound, their heads jerking up as their breath was sucked in and their waist pushed in, pulling them into an upright position. 
'War…' Annabeth thought to herself as she played, her fingers moving at an impeccable speed as she played out the complicated, ever increasing and slowing the tempo of the piece, the tension created by her fingertips filling up her mind. 'War is not just something that is fought on a battlefield.'
A mother bowed her head and covered her eyes as her injured husband pulled her close, comforting her with her hand. His eyes tightly closed and opened to reveal one blank eye, his vision robed away in war. 
'War is in families,' Annabeth thought. 
Staring intently at her was her mother, Mrs. Crowly whose eyes peered at her daughter in both admiration and fear. To her side, her husband snuck glances that her that never went unnoticed but never went replied. He tried to tap her shoulder but she feigned ignorance, the distorted harmony of Annabeth's playing filled their minds. 
Annabeth let out a little sigh and continued with her piece, her hands playing faster and faster, the corrupted sounds of the music created from her harp not only playing the concept of war, but also bringing it to the room itself. Her music brought down the horror of the word 'War' and brought the anxiety that was usually accompanied by false bravado as people attempted to face it. 
It set the room with a whirlwind of emotions that didn't seem to subside, people drowning in emotions they never knew they had or had bottled up for the longest time. 
'War was in every motion in the world, every land on earth went unspared. Where there was conflict, there was war, where there were humans, there was conflict. War was something that everyone faces one way or another in their life whether or not they believe it,' Annabeth thought.
The room was filled with sounds of sobbing and the silence of gritting teeth as people tried to hide what they felt. Some clenched their fist in anger, yet held back due to an underlying emotion that kept them pinned in their place. It was the realization of reality, The harsh truth that everyone tried to run away from by occupying themselves daily. 
The truth of how we were all suffering, how we were all fighting amongst ourselves in ways we didn't even seem to notice. To the competition merchants, to the little kids on the street that fought over a piece of stale bread that was going to be their only meal that entire day. 
'From family troubles to the remembrance of a memory that would never be able to return, to even those that lived with blandness in their lives. Those that spend their days alone, repeating the same routine again and again or those that had nothing to do and watched the grass grow,' Annabeth thought to herself, 'everyone was at war with themselves and their environment.'
She looked up, piercing yes opening to survey the room. She looked back down to her fingers that danced across the strings of the elegant harp. 'War is everywhere.'
Her fingers danced faster and faster, racing up and down the strings, brushing harshly against the strings she wanted to sound harsh, and plucking peacefully the strings she wanted to be heard clearly. 
She was climaxing, the piece was climaxing, the room was climaxing. The people were climaxing. 
She climbed and climbed to the top reaching for the ending she needed, reaching for the peak she wanted to rise to, racing to the cliff she wanted to fall from. It was close, she could feel it. So did the people in the room. 
They wanted to call out for help, scream that they were uncomfortable, that the music was dragging them along to some place that they didn't want to venture into. But they were stuck in the interwinding notes of the harp, being strung along with the music. They were beyond saving. 
At the top Annabeth reached, slapping her palm into the harp once more and then letting go of all of the strings, their song ringing out like one roar, one painful cry that rang out into the air. A cry of desperation, a cry of sorrow and pain. 
It resonated off the halls, ringing in the audience's heads like a hammer slammed into a gong. Hitting them like a loud thud and then washing over them like a tidal wave. 
Slowly the piece came to a quit stop and the room grew to a standstill. It was funny how at the break that they sought, at the break that they cried for, their breaths were held at the peak as they looked down at the steady fall in decline.
Annabeth paused for a moment, leaving them at the edge of that cliff, letting them stare down at the hell they were about to fall into. Then her fingers raised up to the strings, and with a second longer break than anticipated, they smashed into the strings, a harsh, coarse, overflowing sound emanating from the strings as her fingers danced down from the top strings to the bottom, her fingers brushing against each note on her loud arpeggio. 
It was almost like the notes were screeching. Like they were screaming as they descended down the notes of the harp, each note screaming out in pain as their lives slowly came to an end at the beginning of another. 
The audience jumped, their hearts dropping to the ground as the music from the har brought them down headfirst to the ground, pushing them to the soil faster than the speed of light itself. 
Then as abruptly as the demonic screeching of the decline of notes in the piece was born, it seeped out of existence. It ended with the same long last string of the harp as it's sound resonated off the walls. Its long deep sound melted into the same melody played at the beginning of the piece. 
The serene peace, the calmness of the piece once again flooding the room. This time it hovered in the air as the people below it basked in the pain of the agony that had been pulled over them. 
Slowly the tranquilness of the melody came to an end, Annabeth's pace slowing down significantly as she played its final notes. Her fingers lightly played the remaining notes in her piece and finally brushed against the last note, the last string of the harp. 
It's sound rang out in the room, delivering the last dose of shivers to the people that laid exhausted in its presence to receive it. 


The Aucacia Empire had always been a put together kingdom. The commoners relied on their king just like the king relied on his people, there was no rumor the king didn't know about and there was nothing the commoners weren't informed of. It was the perfect give and take relationship a kingdom should always have. 

But perfect things tend to have greedy eyes watching them. 

A perfect environment has no worries about sudden attacks. The same peace of mind that gave the kingdom a blanket of comfort was only the only thing that was imperfect and the only thing that should have never gotten out of the castle walls. But evil has its way of breaking down barriers. 

A perfect environment is a fragile one. The gentle air shrouded in glass, ready to be shattered with the wrong move. One that the greedy hands were ready to take and one that young prince, Dominic, would have the displeasure of witnessing.

Now with the passing of the king of the Aucacia kingdom, cracks start to form in the fragile walls protecting the crown and the people ruled by it. With the days of his enthronement around the corner, the growls of hunger from the greedy eyes grown louder. How long can the kingdom stay put together? Who will tip over the shaky foundations of the kingdom? Who will be the PeaceMaker?

After that, Yukino called the band team. Not long after, they arrived at the room.

Hito looked at the band team and thought 'Thought they would be from a certain anime, but it seems I was wrong. They are just some random side characters of an anime I guess?'

Yukino spoke. "We'll do your request, we have someone here who could be your temporary guitarist."

They looked at Hito and started to inspect him. They were satisfied, after all it was an all girls band team.

But the vocalist seemed to be dissatisfied.

"Hey, are you really sure that he knows how to use a guitar? I mean he is handsome but it wouldn't help us at all if he doesn't know how to play and it will only drag us down."

Her team couldn't refute. If they wanted him to be a temporary guitarist they had to be sure that he was at least knowledgeable at reading the notes and rhyme of the guitar and play along with it proficiently.

Or else it would be useless. Yukino looked at him, expecting him to say something and demonstrate his skills.

Hito nodded and he stared at the vocalist.

"I'm not sure what is a passable grade to you guys but I'd rather let my skills prove it instead of words, can I borrow a guitar?"

The vocalist smiled and spoke. "Hey, I like your attitude. Let's see if your words can match your actions or not!"

"Alright, now give him the guitar."

The vocalist ordered one of the team members to let him play the guitar. After taking the guitar from the member, Hito touched it for a bit.

He felt that he was connected with this guitar. It was a weird yet amazing feeling. It was like he became one with it.

"So which song note should I play?"

The vocalist gave him a paper that was filled with guitar notes and spoke. "These notes are from our original song, so don't you dare tell anyone about it or else I'll sue you."

Hito waved his hand, "No, seriously I won't. Now I'll start to play the notes."

He looked at it for a second and then he put it into the table beside him.

The vocalist was looking at him with a confused expression. "Why aren't you looking at the notes? Don't tell me, you don't know how to read them?"

Hito shook his head, "Nah, I've already memorized them."

"Hah?! Are you kidding me? You just took a glance at it and you say that you have already memorized it? Stop bragging and read it properly!" The vocalist was a little irritated so were her teammates.

Hito shrugged, he really didn't want to explain it to them. Based on how the guitar notes were arranged and how it started with a low note, he guessed that their original song was a classic.

Paying them no need, he started to play the guitar. The vocalist shut up after hearing him play because she could tell that the melody Hito created was very familiar. The more she heard it the more surprised she got, to the point that she became flabbergasted.

"No way, impossible, there's no way that he could memorize the entire note just by glancing at it once!"

Yui, Yukino and Shouko didn't have any knowledge about music, but they were confident that Hito was good at playing the guitar from hearing the melody he created and looking at the shocked and flabbergasted expressions of the Vocalist and her team.

After a few minutes, Hito stopped playing the guitar because the notes were already finished.

"Alright done."

The band team, especially the vocalist, was completely shocked. Consequently she asked Hito.

"You, do you have a photographic memory or something? You literally memorized everything with just a single glance!"

The others also nodded. They also thought that Hito had a photographic memory, otherwise there was no way he could memorize everything with just a single glance!

(E/N: Of course there is. He cheated that's how. You younglings are still 100 years too young to understand Charlottes' profound Dao of Bulshit.)

Yukino, Yui and especially Shouko were really surprised about this. Shouko knew Hito longer than everyone else in this room. She knew the fact that Hito was a genius in Math, Art, Basketball and English, but she didn't know that he had a photographic memory!

Hito shook his head and replied. "No way, I don't have the photographic memory you speak of."

The vocalist asked in confusion. "Then how?"

"Well, it's complicated, you wouldn't understand even if I explained it to you. But I can say that it has something to do with my attainments in music. Oh right, the notes you made are kind of flawed. If you don't mind, may I alter it a bit?"

The vocalist was curious so she nodded and agreed. Acknowledging her permission he pondered for a while and adjusted the guitar, and spoke.

"Alright, it's done. I'll play the upgraded version of your notes now."

Without waiting for the vocalist's reply, he started to play the guitar. As he played the guitar, all of the people in the room suddenly saw an illusion.

An illusion that illustrated what Hito was trying to convey to them through his performance. It was so good that after it ended they got disappointed for not being able to hear more of his performance.

"It's already finished? Please, continue!"

"Yeah! We want to hear more!"

"It was amazing!"

"Encore! Encore! Encore!"

The vocalist now looked at Hito in a different light, she started seeing him as a treasure instead. Let's forget about the cool way he played the guitar, just the how casually he upgraded the original notes into a masterpiece was enough for her to see him as a treasured being.

After he finished playing the upgraded version of the notes, Hito finally realized what he had done. He couldn't control his instincts to upgrade these flawed notes! The skills were affecting his personality and judgement again!

"Oh umm.. so how is it?"

The vocalist went forward and immediately grabbed Hito's hands, she spoke in a maniacal voice. "Please join our band!"

Hito immediately shook his head and replied. "Sorry I have no intention of joining any band. But as you guys requested I have played the notes, so am I qualified to be your guitarist now?"

(E/N: Just use that pea sized brain of yours dude. If you weren't qualified would she act like a maniac to try and recruit you? Goddamn Hito, you should just buy an Intellect skill so that your IQ and EQ could at least rival a normal human's common sense.)

The vocalist nodded and spoke. "Instead of being qualified you are overqualified, so please take care of us from now on."

"Hey, I'm just a temporary guitarist in your band. No need to be so formal, but anyways you can consult with me if you have some problems regarding music."

The vocalist smiled at Hito and replied. "Alright."

Hito looked at her with surprise and thought 'Was this girl always this beautiful?' The vocalist had beautiful long and silky orange hair, pure orange eyes with an extremely sexy body, her face was also extremely cute and adorable to look at.

It was like having the pure face of an angel while also having the seductive body of a devil. It was the ultimate deadly combo that made men's lust flare to unforeseen heights and their rationality to crumble. Hito suddenly asked. "Oh yeah, I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm Tadano Hitohito from the service club as you can already see."

She chuckled and spoke. "The name's Charlotte, Charlotte Tachibana."
