Short Story.
A boy, from the slums, finds a mirror. With the help of the mirror, the boy finds the strength to be himself.

It was a bright sunny day in Brixton, England. The sun shone its splendour without holding back. Its light reflected off cars, windows and the sweat on the bodies of the city's inhabitants. It also reflected off the display windows of a certain store at a street corner, obstructing a view to its interior. The brick stones the store was made of were hazy with heat. A signboard in beautiful cursive sat above the store's entrance, reading "Orin Classics".

A silver Bentley Mulsanne pulled up to the curb in front of the store, its bonnet headpiece stopping at exactly two sidewalk blocks away from a parking meter that was on the sidewalk in front of the shop. The engine purred for a while and turned off. The driver side window rolled down and a bearded man stuck his head out slightly, peering to the left and right. 

As Alpha followed the preordained instructions transmitted to him for confirmation, his senses switched full-on: he had just detected bloodlust. In a city as large as Brixton, coming across bloodlust wasn't an uncommon thing; crimes were committed all over the world. And more than once had he been targeted by muggers who overestimated themselves. But the killing intent he felt today was different: it was targeted, cold and sharp - the kind one would only feel coming from trained killers. He had felt it more than once during his missions. But he knew these were amateurs: real killers sheathed their intent till the very moment before their killing strike fell.

He didn't stop, however, with his actions. His training allowed his thoughts to not affect his actions. As he continued with the instructions, he paid attention to the killing intent directed at him and their origins. He didn't act rashly; there was a chance that the target wasn't him. He continued searching through his car in search of a lighter he had kept in the passenger's safe. 

As he opened it, however, he felt the killing intent intensify and then... multiply. 'How curious', he thought and concentrated on their direction of transmission. 'A sniper directly across the street, on top of the two-storey building. Another around the corner. Last one is that hobo in front of the store beside the music shop. Sunlight's coming in at roughly 70 degrees to the wall surface. Parking meter, three steps away.'

A lifetime's worth of training had increased his sensitivity to such an extent that he had theoretically developed a genuine sixth sense. It wasn't an uncommon thing to happen. Soldiers on the battlefield actively cultivated such and it kept them alive. It was in some cases, premonition to danger, other times awareness of present danger.

He turned his head towards the door, his plan of action already formulated. Opening the first button on the suit jacket he wore, he stepped out of his car, intentionally swinging his suit to the open door as he closed as it. The door caught on his jacket and pulled the already walking away Alpha backwards. He 'stumbled' as the 'unexpected' force pulled him off balance.

In his attempt to stabilize himself, he tripped on his feet and fell towards the car's side-view mirror. A shocked and scared expression came on his face and he quickly covered it with his arms. The entire mirror fell off as he crashed into it. He lay on the ground for a while before picking himself up and dusting off, facing the car. Bending down, he slowly reached with his right hand to pick up the mirror...

Once it was in his hand, he quickly took a small step back, falling in line with the parking meter and the assailant around the corner. Reaching into his right suit jacket, he aligned the gun in the holster towards the hobo sitting on the sidewalk and angled the mirror in his hand towards the sniper across the street. He calmly fired a silenced shot through the temple of the hobo then withdrew the gun from its holster, bending slightly. 

He then stepped out from the cover of the parking meter and fired a shot through the head of the second assailant after hearing the failed shot hit the parking meter. Without pausing in his motion, he swung his second leg around the meter and bent slightly once more. Using the mirror in his hand, he then whipped his pistol around the meter and fired two shots to the sniper, felling him as well. All of this was done fluidly and without pause, as if once practised.

He sensed his ordeal was far from over though; one could call it a feeling. He kept his pistol in his left hand, slid it back into its holster and proceeded to the shop. He had trained himself to be ambidextrous, so it didn't matter which hand he used. It served as an advantage too as could be seen from his just-concluded battle: his opponents had assumed him to be right-handed as he had performed all actions prior with his right. Their attention being focused on that allowed him to take the hobo out (who had his weapon trained on him) and temporarily blind the sniper.

He gently pushed open the door and proceeded inwards. Gentle music played in the background but one could feel silence descend suddenly. Four men were within the store, browsing the collection. Alpha ascertained their positions. 'Number one 10 'o'clock, first row. Number two and three, 11 'o'clock, third and fourth row. Number four, 12 'o'clock, moving to 11, possibly 10 'o'clock. Last row.' The attendant on the shift was assisting the third man.

The attendant raised her head on hearing the door chimes and signalled that she'd be with him soon. He nodded his head and walked toward the first shelf, ignoring the strange look she gave him. Anyone would wonder why a man entered their store holding a side-view mirror and having a hand in their suit jacket.

As he approached the first shelf, he observed the man standing there from the corner of his eyes. He tilted his head in greeting and began to browse the shelves, seemingly lost in thought. Truth be told, he actually was thinking of something. 'Being attacked is one thing, but by such amateurs? What's going on? Is there some underlying meaning behind this?'.

He kept his vigilance high as he continued browsing. The man beside him visibly lowered his shoulders; he had been tense. Those in the shop were oblivious of what happened outside as it occurred too fast and the bodies weren't near the shop.

Man No. 1 approached him with a smile, waving a record in his hand. "Have you listened to this before? Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. Not that recent, but still a good listen", he said as he offered the record good-naturedly. As he did so, he reached into his jacket and began to draw out a silenced pistol, attempting aim. Alpha quickly stabbed forward with the broken part of the mirror in his hand, stabbing the gun-drawing hand of the man before him into his stomach. The sudden pain caused the assailant to cry out and squeeze the trigger on his weapon, firing rounds of hot lead into his ribs, which raised his cry to a scream. 

Blood and foam spurted out of his mouth, turning his scream to a muffled gargle. He reached towards Alpha weakly before his legs gave way and he fell with a solid thud. 

The other men snapped to attention, pulled out their pistols and fired shots at the top of Alpha's head that peeked over the top of the shelf. He quickly bent his body which caused the bullets to pierce through the display window which surprisingly didn't shatter. He then slid around to the second shelf and pushed it at its centre till it slowly toppled, the records on its falling down, drawing attention. He used this opportunity to slink back to the first shelf and waited.

Man No. 2 attempted to flee the falling shelf but paused as he heard a gun cock and two soft sounds akin to baby's sneeze. Two flashes of light sped past his face and embedded themselves in the fourth shelf. He grinned at his target's 'mistake' and stuck his head and pistol around his shelf's corner while holding it up with his free hand. Another sneeze was heard and Man No. 2 felt a smack in the back of his head before his vision darkened permanently.

 "Fuck, fuck, FUCK!". Man No. 3 was pissed off at his error; his natural reaction to getting fired at was to return fire. It wasn't his fault that his partner stuck his head out at that moment, causing him to mistake him for the target and kill him in his trigger-happy mood.

He looked around him angrily, trying to formulate a plan. "Is that all you can do, you pussy? Hide? Come out and face me. Show me the balls of a high-class target", he taunted. He wasn't trying to pick a fight; he wanted to ascertain his target's position. No reply came. Man No. 3 suddenly heard shuffling near him and trained his pistol there. It was the store attendant. She was trying to escape in the confusion. He grinned. He quickly approached her and lifted her by her collar, invoking a plethora of mercy pleas.

Paying no attention to her, he pointed his gun at her head and spoke again. "I've got a wonderful woman beside me who'd like to speak to you", he said, pushing his gun closer to her. "Talk to him", he urged. She opened her mouth to speak but only sobs came out. The gun then rested on her head, causing her to choke on her tears. "No one uninvolved has to suffer. Give yourself up and she lives", he said, craning his head for sounds of motion or a fucking reply. Nothing.

'Wanna play tough? Let's play'. "Move", he spoke, pushing the woman forward. He planned to use Alpha's trick against him. He would assume the woman coming toward him was an assailant and open fire. He was aware that Alpha was crouched low. His shot would hit the woman's leg. On seeing his mistake, he would move forward to grab the woman, giving Man No. 3 a clean shot. He wasn't too concerned about the woman but avoided killing innocents unless necessary

That was his idea. The situation, however, played out differently. Alpha was able to ascertain that it was the attendant approaching him from the lightness of her footsteps and her sobs. He then proceeded to shoot her thigh. As she screamed and fell, he quickly moved toward her still crouching and held in front of him as a meat shield. Man No. 3's shots went through her back and neck. Alpha used the opportunity given by his shock and fell him with a shot to the temple.

He then stood up, dropping the attendant's corpse and trained his ears to the man in the last row. A soft voice was heard spewing all the vulgarities known to man. He slowly came out of the aisle with his hands raised. "Hey man, hear me out. This is my first time doing this. I'm clean. Just let me go, yeah? I won't bothe-". He didn't finish his sentence before Alpha shot him. 'Complete amateurs. Who sent them after me? A test? Most likely. But who? The King has no reason to do so'.

He quickly walked to the wooden door in the store and sat at the desk within. Pressing his hands in sequence over its surface activated the computer within; that was his emergency access, something he had never even thought of using. The computer screen slid upwards and attempted to connect to the database of "The Organization", before displaying error messages. The emergency signal the computer transmitted was also unable to go. Closing all the messages on the screen, he discovered a video file that had been sent to him. Only one man could send anything to this computer: The King. 

Alpha clicked on it. A small window came up and displayed an old man seated behind a desk. The desk, chair and man all looked ordinary but the posture and eyes of the man gave one a feeling as if they stood before a mountain: powerful and immovable. He trained his aged eyes at the camera taping him and spoke in a strong voice, delivering shocking news as if reading a normal report.

"We have been betrayed and compromised. Beta has defected from us for personal gain. Ethan Bryce of the Big Six is attempting to take over. All records both digital and physical have been destroyed. This is your final mission from me, Alpha. Eliminate Bryce, Beta and all defectors. Restore order and stability to us."

He then reached into the desk and pulled out an old-age pistol. Stroking it lovingly, he placed it against his head and cocked it. Noise in the background of the video slightly blurred his words but his strong voice rang through. Facing the camera and supposedly a door that was being breached, he grinned fiercely and said, "Let the games begin".

Alpha has known only one thing in life since birth: Murder. 'Whatever... My strength and agility should be enough to finish one of them then hide with [Ethereal Form]! Then I will target another one again with the same method until no one left uwehehehe...' 

Though there were thirteen Hell Hounds in total, but their position was totally scattered in the Pill Storage Room. It was like they already trained to do so and guard their own territory to prevent any intruders or thieves sneaking in.

With her [Ethereal Form] still activated, Tang Li Xue's invisible body easily passed through the nearby shelf and she sneaked closer to the one of Hell Hounds.

Tang Li Xue deactivated her [Ethereal Form] after she managed to approach the Hell Hound and she pounced to it an instant then bite its neck with her [Rip] skill!

"AWOOOO~~!"

The Hell Hound did not even have any time to react at all before it wailed in pain as its neck bit by Tang Li Xue!

Tang Li Xue tore the flesh from the Hell Hound's neck using her [Rip] skill.  Hell Hound's neck was bleeding profusely but that wound still did not enough to finish it. 

'Dammit! I knew my strength is still not enough to kill it in one attack! Now what?! Retreat or continue?! ....... At least let me kill this one!'

Not only Tang Li Xue's strength was not high enough but her body size also too small so it also makes that her small mouth was incapable to tore the larger chunk of flesh from the Hell Hound's neck. 

Blood kept flowing out from Hell Hound's mouth but its eyes turned red from anger and hatred as its intense killing intent emitted out from its body.

With Tang Li Xue's full strength plus her full speed, her [Sharp Claw] managed to rip the Hell Hound's arteries on its neck this time and killed it.

Tang Li Xue only dared to do this because the Hell Hound's eyes were still blind since she used her [Sharp Claw] to attack its eyes before if not the Hell Hound would definitely shot its [Fireball] at her again like before when she ran toward it and Tang Li Xue that pounced toward the Hell Hound with her full speed would be like a bug flying toward the flame!

After successfully killing one Hell Hound, Tang Li Xue did not stop her feet from moving and still ran with her lightning speed since the five Hell Hounds were still chasing behind her tail right now!

Hell Hound was the strength type demonic beast so their speed was not high. With Tang Li Xue's high agility stats, it should not be a problem for her to outrun them all. The five Hell Hounds that just barely managed to put the brakes on their run did not have any more time to dodge the shelf that already tilting toward them.

BAAAANG~~ BAAAANG~~ BAAAANG~~

The tall shelf that Tang Li Xue pushed to fall down also brought the nearby tall multilevel shelves to fall one by one like domino.

After a few seconds, Tang Li Xue still stunned when she saw many tall multilevel shelves fell down because of her action. 

Fortunately, all the pill bottles made from the special durable ceramic so not even one of them shattered like a vase.

Early morning around 5:00 to 5:30 a.m.

There stood a villa which has two floors. Which is surrounded by a garden, which was planted with beautiful flowers. There was mother nature present around the villa

On the ground floor- hall, kitchen and a guest room was present.
First floor- bed room, study room and a store room.
Second floor- bed room.

Inside the bed room of the second floor- a bed was present on the corner. On the marble floor a dog was sleeping in a cushion. A book shelf in the opposite corner of the bed. In-between the book shelf and the bed a window was there covered with curtain. A study table was in front of the window and a television opposite to the bed just next to the book shelf. A laptop was plugged in- which was on the study table.

A person was sound asleep in the bed. When the clock ticked 6 the alarm went off in the clock. Suddenly the person who was sound asleep opened his eyes. His eyes are black- there was a charm, it looked like people will be  mesmerized if they stare for a long time.

At the exact moment even the dog woke up and started wagging his tail. The person went straight into the bathroom and started brushing his teeth and had a face wash and looked into the mirror. The person reflected on the mirror was handsome- not just handsome there was charm around him. Not just opposite gender, even the people of same gender will get attracted to him.

He changed his clothes to a t-shirt and tracks. He got ear pods with his mobile phone and went jogging along with his dog. Both returned around a hour later. The dog was exhausted- resulting in him gasping for breath.

When both entered the villa there was a handsome man in his 40s seated in the sofa.

"GOOD MORNING ALEXANDER." The man in his 40s greeted. 

The person who was sweating responded
"Good morning Dad" 
Yes this person's name is Alexander. 
The person in his 40s is Albert.

"Alexander go take a bath and come, let's have breakfast." A female voice was heard from the kitchen.

At the East Sea, an old man wearing green clothing came to a small fishing village and stopped outside. The old man was only carrying a flute on his waist and a jar of wine in his hand.
Looking at some of the dilapidated villages, the old man's eyes filled with emotion, nostalgia, and also memories of the fleeting years.
In the twinkling of an eye, so many years had passed by.
"I'm afraid that in a few years, this village will no longer exist."
The old man stood outside the village for a long time before turning towards a small grove nearby. But, he stopped after taking a few steps.
"Come out!" The old man called in a deep voice.
As his voice died away, two men wearing clothes made of rough material came out of the grove in front. They had the same look, same height, were physically strong, bald, had rustic expressions, and gave the impression of being down-to-earth people from the mountainside.
However, the long knives resting on their shoulders gave them an air of menace.
"Eighth most powerful expert in the world, Lu Pinghai, we have been waiting for you for a long time." They both said in a low, muffled voice at the same time.
Lu Pinghai looked at the two and his facial expression was motionless.
The aboriginals seldom appeared in other nations, and these two specifically came here under someone's order.
"Her Majesty told us to get a Spirit Yuan Pill from you at whatever price or condition you want," the two continued.

Ren Baqian looked askance at the craftsman who answered him.
"Even one black-faced guy could do the job given in two days."
The few men shrugged their heads and quietly listened to the lecture. The row of big and strong men bowed their heads and stood like walls.
Ren Baqian rambled on for a long time before he finally said, "Everyone gets a reward of ten taels of silver and the monthly salary will be increased by one level."
Although these people were stupid to the point where it was beyond cure, they still managed to produce the silver mirror anyway. Scolding and rewards should be dispensed as warranted.
"Thank you, Sir!" Everyone beamed happily.
Ten taels of silver was equivalent to more than two months of their salary. Furthermore, their monthly salaries were increased by one level and that was also quite a handsome sum.
"Everyone, please take your leave." Ren Baqian let the craftsmen leave first before instructing Jiao Zuo on the important works to be done.
The most important were the concave and flat mirrors that would be used to make the solar furnace. After these tasks were completed, the iron ore mining problem at Mount Damo would be solved. Only then could the iron ore be sent via trade caravans to other countries and sold for cash.

A few days later, during the afternoon, a group of about a hundred over people came bustling out of Lan City and went straight to the glass factory outside the city.
However, they didn't enter the newly built brick house but went to an open space by the side of the glass factory.
There was a big wooden platform with a shelf on it, measuring six meters high and twelve meters wide. A row of concave mirrors was fixed on it and a dazzling white light could be seen from afar. It was difficult to open one's eyes, and many people used their hands to block the white light from their eyes.
The empress came down from her carriage, followed by six high ranking officials: Shi Qing, Zhe Kouhai, Tu Wan, Tong Zhengye, and Qin Chuan. As long as they were available, they were pulled along by the empress.
Everyone wondered why the empress asked so many people to come and what exactly they were going to see.
At this moment, they saw the shelf and the concave mirror which displayed distorted images. Shi Qing, Zhe Kouhai, Tong Zhenye, and some others immediately knew what it was. It had actually been produced now, but they didn't know whether it would be the same as described by Sir Ren. If it was, it would be a happy occasion.
The rest of the people were looking curiously at that big piece of mirror.
"Isn't that a mirror?'

The empress looked at the big mirror in front and sized it up for a moment. Afterwards, she told Ren Baqian, "You can begin." 
Ren Baqian was very relaxed, he had spent a lot of time building this. Now, it was the time for him to showcase it.
He hoped those idiots didn't mess things up.
After greeting him, thirty guards who normally served him ran to the side to carry thirty mirrors that measured two meters high by one meter wide. Then, they placed the mirrors on the ground, facing the direction of the shelf.
Following which, some people carried a four-meter-long iron bar which was as thick as the circumference of a bowl, and placed it standing upright on the ground.
Ren Baqian walked in front of the row of thirty flat mirrors. He adjusted the angle of one of them, reflecting the sun rays to the concave mirror on the shelf and then the focused beam of light from the concave mirror-reflected to the top of the iron bar.
As he adjusted the angle, the rest of the people followed suit and started to adjust the mirrors. From time to time, he helped everyone adjust the mirrors.
Initially, many people looked at him, but with the empress, Shi Qing, and company fixing their eyes at the top of the iron bar, more of them directed their eyes there and wondered what they would see.
But at once, they got the shock of their lives.
The top of the iron bar suddenly burst into flames without any cause.
One had to know that this was an iron bar. No one was blind, and they were certain that it was an iron bar from the heavy footsteps of the guards that had carried it over as well from the effort it to erect. But, how could an iron bar catch fire?
Even more surprising things were happening, the top of the iron bar not only caught fire but was also melting, and the red-hot liquid iron flowed down the bar.
Very soon, the tip of the iron bar was missing a portion.
Not only was it shocking for those who saw it for the first time, even Shi Qing and company were also surprised.
The previous time, it was just a disk of light which burnt a hole in a steel knife.
This time, it was the melting of an iron bar as thick as the mouth of a bowl, and the difficulty was ten to one hundred times more.
Therefore, several people who witnessed this personally were astonished.
"Your humble servant congratulates the empress and Dayao. This is a great contribution from Sir Ren, and Dayao shall not need to worry about the lack of iron for the next one hundred years," Shi Qing happily announced loudly.
After he opened his mouth, everyone reacted and one after another, and they congratulated the empress.
Although they didn't know what was happening, they could see for themselves the melting of the iron bar, which was as thick as the girth of a bowl.
In that case, Mount Damo could continuously be mined for fine iron, and they would no longer face the problem of a shortage in supply for the army. This was definitely a joyous occasion and very good news.

A moment later, Virtra appeared in a dark cave. She looked around and a giant cauldron was in the center of the room and shelves lined the walls containing an assortment of strange items, including jars with swirling liquids glowing green, blue and gold, as well as crawling insects, and herbs.
Virtra angrily raised her hand toward the black, steel cauldron and a bright orange and red flame immediately roared to life below it, but she ignored it as she angrily crossed the room to a mirror hanging on the wall. She raised her chin and folded down the high color of her red cloak to examine her neck. Red handprints were on either side of her neck. "How dare he do that to me!" Virtra growled angrily. Then, she walked over to the shelf, looked over the assortment, and abruptly plucked a jar from the shelf. She walked back to the mirror and smoothed the purple, glowing ooze over her neck, and a moment later, the ooze and the handprints disappeared, along with the pain. She smiled as she looked into the mirror, satisfied. "Now, that's better," she cooed to her reflection as she moved her neck from side to side, feeling refreshed. Then, she looked down at the liquid and said, "Thank you, my pet." She placed the lid tightly back onto the jar and slid it back onto the shelf.
Then she crossed the room back to the mirror, talking to herself. "Dracon is lucky that I do not kill him, but I need him," she said, checking her neck again. Satisfied, she started pacing the room, wringing her hands. "Now, what to do ..." Suddenly, she stopped in the middle of the room and her eyes flew open wide. "I know! I will do a locator spell on her and I will then conjure her body here. When Dracon sees that his precious Briana is dead, then he will have no choice but to take control of Cambria and make me his queen."
A sinister smile spread across her face as she quickly pulled random items off the shelf and threw them into the heavy iron cauldron and chanted, "Locatorest benache rohium resume, locatorest benache rohium resume, locatorest benache rohium resum." A moment later, she stopped before the brewing liquid and gently waved her arms in an upward motion, causing purple steam to rise from the black cauldron. All of a sudden, an image of Briana appeared in the steam. She was lying on her bed in the castle and Seth was holding her as they slept. 
"Impossible!" Virtra bellowed, echoing within the cave. "That little wench is alive?" Then, she turned back to the cauldron. "Show me!"
Suddenly, purple steam rose once again from the cauldron, showing Briana burning within the pyre. Then, she saw Seth fall to his knees. He lifted his hands and then lowered them, lowering the flames.
"Impossible!" Virtra exclaimed as she watched the vision. 
Once the flames around Briana had died down, Briana was left standing amongst the dying flames, unharmed. Seth ran to her and clasped her within his muscular arms as she collapsed. 
"Impossible!" Virtra repeated, and then waved her arms angrily in the purple haze and the image disappeared. "That ... that ... boy ... is a sorcerer? And from the look of it, he is a powerful one, at that." She resumed her pacing, wringing her hands. "But how was he able to hone his skills so quickly? He just arrived in Cambria ..." She continued to pace as she talked to herself, thinking. Then, she turned back to the cauldron. "Show me!" she demanded angrily once again.
Virtra raised her hands and the purple steam rose again. Suddenly, a vision of Seth working with Herman in his lab appeared. "I should have known!" Virtra growled, angrily waving her arms in the purple haze to clear the image. "Herman of Cambria is behind this! But the boy could not have just learned his powers; he would have to have been born with them. But how did Herman find him?" She raised her arms and the purple steam rose again. A vision of Herman in a strange land with the boy, dressed in odd clothing and strange machines appeared as a sly smile spread across Virtra's lips. "So, Herman brought him here, knowing that the boy has powers. Well, well, well ... we shall soon see if his powers are any match for mine."
With that, she waved her arms and red miniature lights and sparks appeared and joined together to create a bright white transporter light. An eerie smile spread across her lips as she abruptly waved her arms and disappeared.

Bright red firefly lights appeared in the dark forest, followed by a bright white transporter light. A moment, later, the bright white light gave way to red sparks, leaving Virtra behind in the dark forest. She looked up through the forest to the castle, illuminated by flaming red and orange torches mounted around it. "Soon, you will be dead, my dear Briana, and Cambria will be mine to rule beside Dracon. But first, I must rid myself of this little sorcerer of yours."
"Over my dead body," a strong, male voice came from behind her. 
Virtra smiled. "Herman of Cambria! What brings you here, outside the castle this evening?"
Herman moved his black cloak to the side, exposing both of his hands. "Leave, Virtra. You are not welcome here."
"Not welcome?" she asked, laughing. "Well, well, that is an understatement! I was never welcome here in Cambria!"
"All who want to live in peace are welcome here, including your kind," Herman corrected, taking a step closer, pitting himself between Virtra and the castle, forcing her to move back. "But you, my dear, are not interested in peace." With that, Herman raised his arms and pushed, sending Virtra flying backward.
"You dare to use your magic against me?" Virtra snarled, gritting her teeth as she rose to her feet, undeterred. "Do you not realize that I could kill you, your precious Briana, and her little sorcerer in an instant?"
Herman smiled as he shrugged his shoulders. "Well, you could try." Abruptly, he raised his arms up and fire rose all around her. Virtra could see nothing around her but flames. "But first, you will have to find them. When these flames die down, leave Cambria and never return or your fate will be worse than this!" He stepped closer, watching Virtra through the flames. "How dare you do this to Briana, my Queen! You are lucky that I do not burn you alive where you stand, you ungrateful wench!"
"Ungrateful?" Virtra bellowed maliciously. "What have you done for me that I should be grateful? Your 'queen' has done nothing for me or my people! She has condemned us to a life of degradation in the forest, never to live in the comforts of Cambria!"
"Just mark my words," Herman said, stepping carefully around her. "You will not harm Briana or Cambria, or I will unleash these flames upon your body and let them feast upon your flesh!"
"Herman!" Virtra yelled from the bright red and orange flames. They did not touch her, but surrounded her with each step that she took, preventing her from seeing anything. Virtra raised her hands and chanted, "Revespuse nocturn ramsaka veluse!" But the flames did not die. Instead, they continued to burn brightly around her, stronger, closer, and higher than before.
Herman's laughter resounded over the flames. "Your magic is no match for mine! It is useless against the flames."
"Release me, Herman of Cambria, or you will soon feel my wrath!" Virtra yelled angrily, but the only sound that she could hear was Herman's laughter over the roar of the flames.
