Everything ended when the Reapers attacked. Humanity wasn't ready, none of the race's was. Shepard did what he had to, he lost everything, but in the end it still was not enough. In his last moments Shepard exploded with every inch of power he had and got crushed mercilessly. He died and darkness consumed the universe. That should've been the end of the story, but somehow, somewhere a little light always survives. And so it begins anew, but will he walk the same path?

A Mass Effect Trilogy Novelisation.

John Shepard was born on Earth, experiencing life on the streets before joining the Alliance Navy and becoming a hero of humanity. But it is only after nearly being killed by a Prothean beacon does he rise to become the only man that can stop the annihilation of the galaxy.

This story will cover Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, while touching on comics and books.

A race that are the masters of war and violence discovers their true origin along with the darkness of the Mass Effect,

 How would the galaxy react to a race that is not dependent on the Mass Effect physics as they are?

 How would the reapers react to a race that had been preparing for a long time to destroy them?

As a way for the readers to interact with me and the story, I will be giving you guys a chance to design your own characters and species that maybe worked into story. Below you will find the templates for you to use in order for me to get information about your character/species. I only ask that the characters/species be realistic (within the mass effect universe, no six headed Humans xD) and that you give me time to work them into the story, if they are a new species, they will need to be encountered for example before they appear. Characters will need to be found and not just appear randomly in front of the MC otherwise it will be unnatural. Not all characters/species will be able to be worked into the story but I will try to get as many as possible into it without it being to jarring, without further ado begin designing. One of the biggest challenges for any crossover story is compiling more than one character that may have one or more thing in common such as being within the same realm of existence. These are some examples of multiverse crossovers that could work if dealt with great care:

WWH/World War Hell (Hellboy, Constantine, Devil May Cry, Spawn, Ghost Rider): All characters have dealt with the occult and the forces of hell. So what better way to have these heroes working together than having to settle a civil war in Hell?

Galactic Crisis (Halo, Mass Effect, StarCraft, Star Trek -Generations preferably-, Star Wars -Clone Wars or Galactic Empire-): Given how each of these franchises have a bigger threat to deal with (Star Trek with the Borgs, Halo with the Flood, Star Wars with Abeloth and the Yuuzan-Vong, Mass Effect with the Reapers and StarCraft with the Zerg swarm) it would be a sci-fi geeks dream come true to see all these characters fighting these massive threats or just one controlling the others (maybe like the molding of the Gravemind, Abeloth and Kerrigan the Primal Zerg together as a great threat to everyone else. Whether dealing with each of their adversaries together or individually, the heroes from each series can work together to bring peace to the final unexplored frontier known as space. Sort of inspired by the crossover film Galactic Battles.

Ultimate Fight Tournament (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, Killer Instinct, Final Fight, Tekken): This would be the most epic fight tournament we'd ever see in a crossover. The plot could be that Shao Khan, through Quan Chi and Shang Tsun, brings the other realms of the other franchises before mentioned for the tournament to end all tournaments in another attempt to conquer new worlds and obtain more souls. Raiden and his allies attempt to prevent this by warning the various characters of said universes as they race to stop their foes from victory. This crossover could work in having the other characters getting their own fatalities and we would get to see matchups we'd never fought we get to see like maybe a three way fight between Chun-Li, Mai Shiranui and Katana or an all-out brawl between Heavy D!, Balrog, TJ Combo and Dudley.

It’s no secret, I love crossover stories. It expands the human imagination of story telling. Whether it’s within said universe or different worlds colliding. The kinds of crossover stories I like to read and/or write about are the ones that could logically make sense while others would do so either for fan service or just for pure fan fiction. Through this, I like to post and offer any scenarios about logical but sound and fun ideas that people would like to hear or try to write about. The criteria can be as follows:

1. Takes place within its universe or it can be across the different universes.

2. Characters have to have certain similarities between them (ideals, powers etc.)

3. Doesn’t have to be romantically involved, but I consider more of friendships and connections made between them.

4. Can usually have a common foe that unites them (heroes or villains)

All suggestions and/or comments are welcome.

These thoughts are more of just a concept than anything deep like the RE fan-fic idea. So these will be just a few short paragraphs compared to the last two. Now on any of my chapters in here, feel free to leave criticisms, because I'm not really thinking too in-depth so there's room for error.

Firstly, I know it's kind of overdone but BHNA. Yeah, yeah I can hear you typing furiously say it's cliche and there are too many already. But I'll say this, when was the last time you saw one of the many BNHA fan-fics last more than fifty chapters? Maybe once I've actually seen it happen, and it was one of those travelling the multiverse collecting harem members type of fan-fiction. Currently, A Knight's Will is taking place in My Hero Academia, and it's been better than that. But I'm ranting, you guys want to hear my idea. So, I was thinking that since the manga is based on western superhero comics, why not add in a Western superhero? Someone like Spider-Man or Captain America, maybe even the Hulk. There are loads of heroes who would fit in, so why not use them? (By the way, my personal vote is for Spider-Man) It doesn't even have to be the actual hero, it could be someone who wakes up in their body.

You know, while there are a few fan-fiction that use either DC or Marvel as a setting, they don't really bring much new content. Most will just make the MC a Kryptonian or Speedster, some may use Asgardian. I haven't really seen them use Saiyans or other anime races. So, why not bring a Saiyan into Marvel? Yeah, Saiyans are over-used, but it's for a good reason: They make characters strong, but not without effort. Sure, a low-level Saiyan can wipe out the population of a planet but if it's Marvel Earth, then there are plenty who could do the same.

I'm actually surprised that no one has done a Mass Effect fan-fic, there's lots of possibilities there. Especially if You want to change the endings of the original trilogy. Sure, it's a lot easier to use non-game fiction but there's a Halo fan-fic on the site right now, so why not Mass Effect?

So, those are just three short ideas for fan-fics. I'll try and make the next one a little bit more detailed but it will probably be a while.

So, I have these ideas float around my head constantly. I figured since I'm not using them, someone else could. If you read them and feel like writing about it, feel free. I'd rather focus on my own novel, so they are fair game for anybody. I'd love to read them if they are ever used.

The scariest thing is that Chuck could tell that the spell is being cast multiple times. Before he could check on the magic amulet, his mind went in a trance as the information of another spell came flooding into his consciousness.
Crescite Altitud (Increased height) - Temproaraily increases height to 1 inch on those the spell has been cast. A popular spell amongst short men. Stacking of spell is inadvisable as body weight and center of mass changes with the added height. A popular spell amongst spies and theater actors. Cost 5 Porn Coin for temporarily increasing height for an hour.
Similar to the last spell, Crescite Altitud is also being cast multiple times. Magic was forcibly coursing through the body of Chuck. The late Antonio had nothing to do with magic or even anything remotely close to being considered a body workout. Chuck felt his joints were being stretched to the limit as his height kept increasing.
Chuck fell forward on the floor. He caught himself with two hands forward, just shy of having his face planted on the floor. Antonio was a short individual, but at present, Chuck is a lanky tall man, having his bones stretched. Before he could make sense of what is happening to his body, Chuck's mind again went into a trance...
**huff** **huff** "F*ck! Not Again!"
Crescite Musculus (increase in muscles) - Temporarily increases muscle mass on those the spell has been cast. This spell is not highly proficient in increases strength as pure strength-enhancing spells. However, the muscle mass developed gives an intimidating effect and the mass of flesh works as a flesh armor. A popular spell amongst soldiers who are fighting on the frontlines. Costs 5 Porn coins for 1 pound of muscle mass. Be careful of spell stacking as the muscle mass needs innate strength to wield.
If Chuck has his shirt on, it would have ripped open on its own. Chuck who was still down on his knees and was having his torso held by his palms. His whole body broke out in cold sweat from the pain of his body-transforming, but the glistening sweat only increased the sexiness of his rippling buff body.
Antonio who has been short and fat throughout his life changed into a buff male hotness who could give the renowned terminator a run for his money. Chuck slowly looked up, the tall 6'4 frame was filled with strong looking muscles, which were filled with innate strength. At the combination of the three divine spells. The former look of the world-shaking Tzar is faintly coming out.
However, this is not the end of the divine spell that has been cast on him. As the naked and muscular Chuck got to one knee, his mind once again blanked out with new information of a divine spell.
Interio Fera (Inner Beast) - Unleashes the beastly instincts hat reside deep withing any intelligent creature. Increases muscle reflex, increases ferocity, increases the pain threshold, and reduces fear. A popular spell amongst berserkers. Side Effect: Increased hair growth, hair turning grey, animalistic state of thinking. The accumulated aggression should be vented off by fighting or on a woman. Cost 50 Porn Coins to become a beast (The state wears off as the aggression is vented in the battle or in the bed).
Chuck's hair grew long and head-full of silvery locks. There is he is once again gracing the world with his strong presence. The Tzar of East looked at the three approaching women with a smoldering gaze. The women were also cast with the spell of Interio Fera (Inner Beast). However, their animal instincts made them realize that they are in the presence of a higher being as Chuck stared at them.
After casting Interio Fera (Inner Beast) on Chuck, the magic amulet went completely cold as if indicating the empty of Porn Coins. However, earning Porn Coins is the last thing on Chuck's mind. The reincarnated Tzar detected a faint challenge from the gaze of the women. Him being Alpha, Chuck decided to prove his dominance of the three little b*tches in heat.

The year was 2300, humanity had started to advance at an extreme pace. In the last two hundred years they have started to explore the galaxy and colonize multiple planets thanks to Warp Drive technology. Now don't get me wrong humanity had colonized Mars, The Moon, Pluto, Europa and Titan by 2130, but that was as far as they could go with the current technology. By the year 2150 Humanity's population had reached ten billion on Earth with another three hundred million on each of the solar systems colonies.

In 2156 Warp Drive technology had finally been invented, it wasn't for another fifteen years that humans could put it to use. In 2171 Humans had finished building a fleet of five Ark spaceships, one Dreadnought, three Destroyers, twenty Cruisers and fifty Frigates with the ability to warp through space, to start exploring the closest habitable planets. By the year 2230 humans had colonized five more planets within twenty light years of Earth. With the population of humanity reaching thirty billion humans by the end of the century.

But in the year 2311 human met their first Alien species. This species named Andromadians wanted to subjugate Humanity into one of its many allies. Humanity didn't want this to happen so with their fleet of twenty-five Dreadnoughts, eighty Destroyers, one hundred and ninety Cruisers and over three hundred Frigates, with thousands of Fighters. Humanity set out to stop this alien race, but alas humanity soon realised how powerful this race was. Within twenty years three of the planet's humanity colonized had been taken over.

The year is now 2356, the only remaining humans now exist only in the solar system. But this is the year they believe they will be able to fight back, this is due to a two-hundred-year-old secret project that scientist on Earth had been working on for the last hundred years, a project named Project Deus. They created a Human with extraordinary abilities, this human could control the Four Interactive Forces. The Four Interactive Forces are, Gravity manipulation, Electromagnetism manipulation, Strong Force manipulation and Weak Force manipulation. He has several other abilities such as supernatural senses, absolute combat, supernatural strength, supernatural speed and reflexes and finally time manipulation, but Theodeus only ever showed the scientists his skill with gravity manipulation because over the hundred and seventy-five years of his life he has come to see how horrible humans can be.

Today Theodeus was going to be released after his final test, this was going to be his first time outside the facility. But before he goes to his final test, he wants to finish off his favourite manga for the two-hundred and fiftieth time. This manga is Sekirei, this manga was released before he was created by the scientists. The main reason he loved this manga so much was because he could relate to the main characters, he loved almost all the characters, except Minato Sahashi he despised Minato. He never liked Minato as he always thought that anyone else could have taken his place and the outcome would be the same.

The year is 2358 on the Dwarf Pluto a boy that looks nineteen standing one hundred and ninety centimetres with pitch black scruffy hair, his eyes vibrating the colours of the rainbow. This boy is Theodeus, in the last two years Theo had been tasked to exterminate the Andromadians from the solar system. In the past two years he had killed three billion Andromadians and several hundred thousand humans, this was his mission that was giving to him by the scientists.

In the void of space, he is unimpeded he hasn't found anything that is close to his power, Theo even went as far as to fly through the sun to see if he could be hurt this was when he found out that unless he allowed something to hurt him, he couldn't be hurt. This is due to his manipulation over molecules, he can change everything about them from the density of matter to what can be burned. This discovery made Theodeus sad beyond belief, but this encouraged him to learn even more about his capabilities.

Year 2838 it's been almost five hundred years since Theo started his mission to destroy the Andromadians and in those several hundred years he discovered a lot about his enemy. The main thing he had found out about them is that the Andromadians aren't just one species, they are a collection of five different species that came together when they went to war over four thousand years ago with another race in their home galaxy. These five species did this due to being out gunned and outnumbered when they would fight on their own but once they started working together, they were able to slowly destroy their opponents and a thousand years later they won and subjugated this race. Theo also learnt that they have control over the Andromeda Galaxy and Triangulum Galaxy and now plan to take over the Milky Way Galaxy.

To stop them Theo had to kill seventy-two billion Andromadians be it combatants or civilians, due to his mission and he hated it he felt guilty for doing so. Recently he found out that there are seven hundred and eighty trillion Andromadians in all three major galaxies in the local group. This year he has decided to go into hiding to see what these lifeforms will do each other if left unchecked. But because of Theo's help humanity truly started to thrive once again their population had even skyrocketed due to the need of manpower and in these five hundred plus years humanities population is now over ninety billion people over twenty-three colonies.

The year is now 3838 and Theo has been experimenting with his wormhole abilities finding dozens of other universes. This is when he discovered that worlds from popular media and alternate history universes existed, he set out to find as many universes as possible. Till now he has found over six hundred different universes while also finding universes that he wanted to help or visit. Although watching both the Andromadians and humans kill and enslave each other, Theo had decided to do something huge. He decided he would destroy this universe, but he wouldn't kill everyone from this universe as he was going to save all the slaves as well as some military, scientists, engineers and worker personnel as he will need people to maintain the spaceships he plans to create. This year he secretly started to save over two and a half billion slaves from Humanity and another ten billion from the Andromadians. He then would bring these people to a planet that Theo would terraform to suit the new inhabitants he then created housing for them so that they all had places to live.

Amongst these new inhabitants were people with all types of specialities, from officers in their respected military's to farmers. The most important person he found was an Andromadian Naval architect and his construction team, when Theo saved him, he asked him to design several ships including an Ark class ship with the capability to house several hundred million civilians such as teachers, farmers, construction workers etc. The Naval architect said that if he had the materials, he could but without them it would be impossible, Theo explained that he can create said materials and as many as he needs if he can design the most advanced spaceships this universe has seen. The Naval Architect then said that he can design the ships, but he would need people that can create new technology for both military and civilian purposes. Theo then went to various planets to find these specialists, after three months of going all over the three galaxies Theo had gathered the greatest group of scientists this universe had ever seen.

Within five years all the technology and ship designs for the ships had been created and construction is now under way. There will be six Ark class ships that will house two hundred million civilians each of these ships are twenty-five kilometres in length five kilometres tall and seven kilometres wide these will be the largest ships in the fleet, these will be the last ships to be built and these six starships have to be built on the planets three moons as the low gravity will help create such large starships. The next class of ships to be made are thirty Dreadnaught class ships that will be the main military force of Theo's army, these starships will only be six kilometres long with a height of one kilometre and two kilometres wide, these will also be made on the three moons. Next are ten Carrier class ships these will be the same size as the Dreadnaught class starships but will carry five thousand one-man fighters per carrier compared to the Ark class number of one hundred and Dreadnoughts number of three hundred whist cruisers only had twenty. These carriers will be built on the planet as then they can be easily filled with the fighters once they are complete. The next class of starship he wanted created were cruisers and one hundred and fifty were to be constructed, these cruisers would be one sixth the size of dreadnaughts and would be built on the planet. Next would be frigates there would be over four hundred metres and six hundred of these would be built over the next ten years these will be some of the first ships built for Theos' army as these starships will be protecting the planet. Fighters would also be made alongside frigates; these fighter ships would be fifteen to twenty metres in length one-man ships and two hundred thousand of these ships were to be constructed with sixty-two thousand of these ships distributed between all other ships with the rest being used for various rolls from protecting bases to protecting whole planets.

It has been twelve years since the start of Theos plan for creating his military, he had been waiting for his ships to be completed whilst finding which universes he would be going to first. He had decided that he would go to a mass effect universe that Commander Shepard failed to stop the Reapers in. With two billion people ready to move universes, Theodeus created a portal one hundred kilometres in diameter he then over the comms he told everyone to proceed forward. It took half an hour for all ships to pass through the portal. Once all ships they were greeted to a picture of the solar system they arrived in. Theodeus had explained that they would reside on the planets called Loki, Terra Nova and Tyr whilst the planet Borr will be a military base that half of Theo's military power would be stationed at. He would terraform them so that they would be liveable for all his people. He had arrived in the Mass Effect universe one thousand years before the start of the mass effect story.

It's been five years since Theo has arrived in the Mass effect Universe and the planet Terra Nova has been declared as the main home for Theo's people that have decided to keep their race names of Humans and Androxians but have decided to make Theo their god. Theo didn't like this idea but decided not to say anything as it made things easier since they would do anything, he asks of them he then told his people that he had to go get some people so that the military will become even more powerful than it already is.

Once he arrives in Sparta though a portal, he is quickly surrounded by spartan soldiers that have raised spears at him. After about fifteen minutes a someone he presumes is King Leonidas steps forward and exclaims. "Who are you and what are you doing in my lands. Answer or be cut down where you stand." "I have come here to offer your people a way to change the course of your people's destiny" says Theo as he look King Leonidas in his eyes.

Theodeus was created by scientist to be a literal god, to save them but what happens when he decides to just destroy the whole universe and go to the worlds he read about in his long lifetime

When I reached the college Professor hadn't entered the class. I feel relaxed and when I go to my seat my both friends Yashvi and Isha are angry at me and say " It's the last year of college please come on time dear." 

And like usually I smile and say " I will try from tomorrow." 

Yashvi says " It's final year dear don't know when will your tomorrow come" 

I says " I was ready for the college but I started using a phone and that's why I got late" 

When I finished my sentence, the professor came into the class. 

Today students are more compared to yesterday. 

Our study started and we attended four lectures before the break. 

When the break comes our group today also decided to not attend the lecture because it's last year and we don't want to miss any chance of having fun. 

We are discussing where to go for lunch, because today also for lunch, Isha and Yashvi don't want to mess. 

When we were busy discussing which place we should go, other students from class also decided to bunk the class. 

And finally, my whole class decided to do a mass bunk. 

So finally mass bunk decided. We all know how many times we failed to mass bunk, still, we didn't lose hope and decided to do a mass bunk. 

Everyone agrees for mass bunk. 

After deciding this we left the campus and went out to eat lunch and after that me and my friends who live in the hostel. Come back to the hostel and I go back to the room. 

I wear simple clothes and again start reading a novel which I put incomplete yesterday. 

I love silence when I read something and right now my room's atmosphere is perfect for reading it. 

Finally, I finished reading the novel. 

I love this novel. Even after reading it I still feel like I am lost in the novel and have its effect on my mind. I loved the way he wrote his first novel in detail. It's based on his love story, a true love story and their meeting scenes. The way he wrote his novel. I loved it. 

It's my first novel by Ravinder Singh and after knowing that it's based on a true story. I started finding his pictures and also his friends' pictures. All the characters were real, including his love for her. I tried to find her in the news but couldn't find any news. Even tried to find her picture but couldn't find that. And then finally ended up seeing the author Ravinder Singh one of the Interviews someone asked to show the picture of his girlfriend where he says that he wants to keep her picture private and it's his choice so he didn't want to go into the deep discussion and told him to respect his decision and not to ask about this question. So after listening to him saying this. I stopped searching about his love. I love the way he portrayed his friendship in his book. I loved that his friends are still together and he writes about his friends in his other book. I added that book to my list. 

At 7:40 p.m. I went for dinner with my roommates and then called my parents and talked with them. 

At night before sleeping I started reading my final year medical book and then I took my sleep. 

Next day I reached the college on time. 

Because no matter how much I tried I can reach on time or late. 

Our first lecture finished and then the lecture of our final year class in-charge professor came. 

Our professor entered the class and we wished her 'good morning' and she said " Good morning everyone. Students who came yesterday after the break, only they should sit still, are not allowed to sit in my lecture today's lecture. I have the roll number of the students who came yesterday so don't try to act smart." 

And like usually we all are shocked, annoyed and angry at those who came yesterday even after deciding that we do a mass bunk. 

Then our professor told the roll number who came yesterday and told them to sit. 

We're still thinking about when to say sorry. 

Our professor starts saying that your batch is the worst batch ever I came across in my teaching profession. You all are in your final year and you have to learn to be disciplined because what you do your junior will copy you. Learn to take leave for not attending lectures and don't try to do a mass bunk. 

Our professor is not in a good mood and her half lecture finished by giving us instructions about following rules and regulations. 

We all heard her and looked at the watch to see when the lecture would finish. 

I'm still not understanding how to take leave for doing mass bunk or a bunk. Because if we take leave then it's not called bunk or mass bunk. 

I'm in my final year of college and till this time my class always failed to do a mass bunk. We all had bunked the class but never had a single successful mass bunk. We lack unity for doing mass bunk because some students never say that they are going to attend the lectures when we decide for mass bunk and we all get to know about them the next day when we attend the college. We didn't do mass bunk or a bunk more often. Me and my friends usually don't bunk class when our syllabus is not finished and the professor teaches really well but when we feel like we have enough attendance and the lecture is boring then me and my friends bunk the lecture. 

I've always heard that in Engineering college they all do mass bunk successfully. I feel like only we had the bad luck for mass bunk because whenever we failed mass bunk we got punished.

"What kind of love do you want from me?" Aarav asked Aarya. 

 " I want you to love me Till You Can. I don't want you to say anything in pressure. I want you to realize your feelings for me from your heart. I only want your love from your heart."
Aarya told Aarav. 

Aarav is a guy who doesn't want to fall in love with his friend Aarya because he is afraid of falling in love and to accept his feelings towards her. Aarya wants that he realises his feelings without having any fear about love. 

Aarya is a medical student who was always focused on her studies and she fell in love for the first time with Aarav. Aarya is a girl loved by all the people around her. 

Aarav is an Engineer student who is interested in making his career in singing. For other people, he is a kind of guy who can express only one emotion that's anger. Only people who are close to him knew him properly.

Chapter 1

My story began when I turned eighteen. The age when you become a fully responsible adult in the eyes of the government.
Well, theoretically my story began even earlier. To be precise it began more than a hundred years ago and in a different reality. A reality where a series of games existed called Mass Effect. A game that became my new reality.

I never found out how or even why. In the end, I didn't care much about it.

At first, I even thought that I was just reborn into the future. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Humanity was still confined to the Sol-System and had colonies on Luna and Mars. There was nothing that screamed Mass Effect at me, it just looked and felt like the future.
But that changed from one day to the next, when it was announced that alien ruins had been found on Mars. They called these aliens Protheans.

I swear my heart stopped for a moment when I heard the news.
At that moment I was already 23 years old and came to terms with the whole being reborn long ago. But hearing that I wasn't just reborn but flung into a different reality was something else.
The first thing I did after the news was that I checked the internet for BioWare and Mass Effect.
I got dozens of hits for BioWare but none for Mass Effect.
Not. A. Single. One!
It seemed like they never had the idea for that series.
But there was something I would call a ray of hope, BioWare made a KotoR 3 and it was great! Just some information by the side.

But back to the situation at hand.

I knew what would be coming, the first contact war with the Turians, the whole trope of humanity becoming part of the Citadel, Cerberus and of course the Reapers and the galactic war with them.
While I looked out of the window of my apartment onto the skyline of London and the Thames I pondered what options I had.
I could do nothing and live my life to the fullest and hope that Shepard would do the right thing and destroy the Reapers or I could try to meddle with the future and prepare humanity and the rest of the galaxy as best as I could.

The means to do something meaningful were available to me. When my father died he left me his mining-company and the beginnings of a company centered around starship construction. I was fifteen at the time and couldn't take control of the company just yet. My mother died three years before him and I suspected he never really recovered from it. He wasn't a bad father, far from it, he did try, but he was broken inside. For me it was hard too, losing your mother is never easy even for someone who had already lived another life. It probably helped that I wasn't born aware of my old life so that I truly could form a connection with my new parents. The first memories came slowly when I was 8 years old and would continue for the next to years before I would understand that those weren't vivid dreams but memories of a previous life. And when mom died the shock released probably them all and I remembered fully.

After dad died I would concentrate on learning everything I could about business, economy and starship engineering. In my old life I already had a degree in business and economy so I wasn't that hard to (re-)learn it but starship engineering and engineering, in general, was something else. Especially, since there were a hundred years more to it than I knew of. Concepts and theories I had never heard of and scientist of my old life would never have thought of, yet.

But I was determined to make my dad's dream true. He had always spoken of how he would have loved to explore the stars and to see different planets. That was why he was branching out into starship construction.

I still remembered when I was six or seven and dad took me out into the wild for camping. We looked up into the night sky, away from any city and could see the stars. He had this faraway look in his eyes when he spoke to me. "Son", to this day I remember what he said with an impossible clarity "we humans have always wondered what is out there in the galaxy and now we're on the verge of finding out. I feel it deep in my heart. That's why I want to fly up there one day and just explore. Seeing new things, sights no human ever set sights on before. That is my dream and I hope you will find a dream of your own one day." I could only nod at his words and thought how cool my dad was.

After his death, I swore I would make his dream come true in his stead.

Officially, I took control over the companies when I turned eighteen but practically that happened two years later when I got my degree in business and economy.

Hey, don't think that took to long for one who was already practiced in it. I studied engineering with a focus on starships by the side which took me one more year to get my degree in.

For the next two years, after I took over and had to fire one or two of the executive part for embezzling, helped consolidate my position in the company, not gonna lie, I focused on expanding on our mining operations first. Processed resources were always something needed and in an age of space exploration in was even more needed. Especially when I wanted to build my own starships one day. To produce the materials needed for construction would make production cheaper and in the end, I could make more money with them even if sold cheaper than those of my rivals.
To that goal, I hired some scientists and engineers to invent equipment that would make mining easier, cheaper and faster.
It took them six months but they constructed VI-controlled drones that helped the workers immensely with breaking up the minerals in the soil and refining them into useable materials. It worked like a charm and my company saw exponential growth for the next two years and it didn't stop there because the team that created the drones continued to make them even better or finding new areas where and how those drones could be used. Furthermore, my mining company grew to the point that it encompassed 41% of all extraterrestrial mining operations and was still growing.
All the while the starship company slowly grew as well and the cheap materials allowed for experimentation with design.

But that was the furthest thing from my mind at the moment because I was still pondering the question of what I should do.

I could let the events of the games play out and hope for the best or I could do something. I wasn't sure what I could do. Supporting Shepard? That was a given but how should I do it? I didn't have any special abilities, biotics weren't even a thing yet, nor did a have a technological superior combat suit, moreover I wasn't even a soldier or even had the potential to be one. My Sister, in my previous life, was one and told me that I would never survive military life. Proud as I was I disagreed and she dared me to spend one week with her doing standard exercises.
Waking up at dawn, training, doing chores and more training. I barely survived the first day and at the end of the third, I truly hated her.
After the week, she told me that that wasn't even the hardest that she experienced and I couldn't fathom how I could survive an even harder regime. Pride shattered, I agreed with her that military life wasn't for me.

Thinking about my sister, let me smile. She had been six years older than me and had always watched over me. Every time I needed help or needed advice, I just had to ask. In this life, I was an orphan with no sibling that I could turn to, so I looked in the past to find an answer.
For the next ten minutes, I just looked out the window, reminiscing, interrupted only by sipping on my glass of Irish whiskey.

Then suddenly something my sister once said flew through my mind and the thought let me stand up on reflex.
A grin came over my face when I remembered her words.
"You know, if you even had only a half the interest in politics that you have in business, you could probably become president in less than twelve years. After all, you have a way with words, you probably could sell sand in the desert and make a killing with it."

At the time I just laughed and asked her if she would like to invest in my business but now, now her words truly struck something in me. A path opened up before me. A path that would lead me to the center of the action while away from the battlefields. A way to truly move something, to prepare for the Reapers, to make things better in the galaxy even after the Reapers were dealt with.

I knew what I wanted to do, what I wanted to be.

Neither Anderson nor Udina would stand in my way.

I would become the human councilor!

"Well, it seemed like I made my decision of what to do and I even had a goal to boot! Becoming the human councilor would let me have a direct influence on galactic politics and events.

But that would be far off into the future. If I remembered the timeline it would take something between 32 to 36 years before the events of Mass Effect happened, hell it would take a decade before the first contact war with the Turians.

That thought let me stop. I knew that in a few years the Turians would attack Shanxi and my knowledge could help prevent it but the question was, should I?

My foreknowledge could be interpreted as a kind of time travel, where the traveler tries to change events in the past to create a better future. But by using his knowledge of what is to come he could make these events happen in the first place or he changes the events and instead of a positive effect on the future it is even worse than before.

Still pondering the question I poured myself another glass of whiskey. Was it my second or already my third? I didn't know, thinking of monumental and history-altering decisions lets you ignore such minor things.

Taking a small sip, I cherished the light burning in my throat, reminding me that this was real and no fabrication of my mind. Well, maybe it was but was reality truly something different than a fabrication of our mind? It takes the information of our surroundings and interprets them, the result is what we call reality. Who can say that my previous life on earth in the 21st century was real and not just a bad dream of some kind of animal?

For me, the reality was the here and now, my reality was the beginnings of the Mass Effect universe. No, it wasn't just the Mass Effect universe, it was my Mass Effect universe. Who could say what the future would bring? Maybe my being here had already changed things irredeemably from the original timeline. Did ME even have an original timeline? Take a look at Shepard for example, he or she could be born on earth, on Mindoir or in space. Different places and probably different parents. And do not forget that Shepard could become the survivor of Akuze, the Butcher of Torfan or the Hero of Elysium. And that are all variables before the game even begins, I don't wanna even discuss the different classes that Shepard could be because that would mean differences in his/her training.

Another question was if I could even influence the coming events. The answer to that was a resounding no. I had no pull in any government and even if I had it would be useless because the System Alliance didn't exist yet. They would be founded in the coming years in response to the discovery of the Prothean ruins or was it because of the Charon Relay? No matter, I would wait and then start to make myself vital to the Alliance. They would be the key player in galactic politics for humanity and being a part of them would give me the chance to become councilor later on. Furthermore, they would be the military arm of humanity as well and it would do well to support them if we wanted to have a better chance at repelling the Reapers.

In the end, my decision on what to do was as simple as it was complicated. I would let things play out and deal with them as they come. No more worrying about deviating events or possible futures, no human being was made to control the future and anyone who thought differently was a fool. You could influence the possibility of a specific future but never dictate all details.

With that decision, my mind began to formulate a 'battleplan' for the immediate future. I would need a strong support base to truly change anything and just expanding my mining business wouldn't do the trick. That didn't mean I wouldn't expand in that sector, oh I definitely would expand there, materials would become even more valuable but I had to branch out. My still small starship company "Ad Astra" would be a key in the coming years. I would try to become the major supplier of space vessels for the Alliance, which would give me an entry in the political arena of the Alliance that I could later use as a stepping stone to the Citadel.

Another thing was that I could try to support the invention and development of technology apart from Element-Zero and mass effect, remembering the revelation that the mass relays and the citadel were built by the Reapers to control the development of galactic civilizations and guide them down a specific path. And what about the end of Mass Effect 3? Did the crucible render the mass relays unusable or could they still be used? I didn't know but I would work on the assumption that they would not. Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. That was a good motto to hold onto.

What else could be done?

That question swirled through my mind and dozens of ideas came up, some dismissed but some held promise.
Weapons for example, not just small arms, no, weapons for ships, maybe even orbital defense like those in Halo. That was an interesting thought. Why try to think up everything from scratch when hundreds of fictional ideas could work? After all, something was just so long fiction until somebody brought it into reality. Mass Effect was something fictional before and now it was real, at least to me.

The rough outline of my plan for the next ten years was done. I would expand my mining business, "Ad Astra" and branch out into weapon development and other technological avenues.
Moreover, I would try to become a key player in the Alliance itself, it would be easier while it was still young and not recognized as the power it would become.

I smiled as my gaze wandered over the skyline of London at night.
My glass raised to a toast I remembered the old Chinese curse.
"May we live in interesting times."

I hope you liked the first chapter of 'Intersting Times'.
As you could read it is an SI/OC story but I hope somewhat different from the normal ones.
Most SI-stories that I read about where about how someone tries to change the galaxy as
a member of Shepards team, an SI that changes the canon as a soldier with a weapon in hand.
Don't get me wrong there are some pretty good ones but I wanted to do something uncommon.
I love those ME-fics that have a different humanity and the politics that happen in them, the interaction between
characters that have political power is something that I find interesting and I wanted to do something like that.
For example the interactions between the Council and the Wardens of the Mantle in evevee's Halo/ME-fic 'On the Illusion of Might' is something I truly enjoy.

Well, enough about that.
Please review, any critic that could help to make this story even better is wanted.
