Mina glared at the monkey who was clasping both hands together while looking at her. 
"Ahhh... Serket, you say..."
Mina's eye's followed the monkey who walked with both hands and legs on the ground. She couldn't help but notice Kino's shrewd appearance. 
"Buddy, I didn't know you're interested in gossip."
As the kiss squeak sounds continued, Mina could feel her the increase in temperature in her ears. 
"Serket..."
Mina ignored her annoyance with Kino's taunting instantly and placed her full focus when the monkey communicated with smacking sounds. 
"How should I put this..."
Kino was just a few inches from Mina and she could smell his wet fur but she was more interested in learning more about Serket than nagging an orangutan. 
"These days I've been missing my stick. This place... Stingy creatures! I've been putting up with walking all this time and now, they took my stick away!" 
Mina couldn't help but back away from the monkey who was making big gestures with his hands.
"They say it's dangerous!"
Kino took a step closer to Mina and placed both hands on his head. Mina could only follow the monkey's erratic movements. 
"It's just a stick!"
The monkey was about to extend a hand towards Mina. The unexpected movement caught her by surprise and she couldn't help but fend off the monkey by slapping his hand away. 
Even with her paws retracted, she felt the moment her paw got in contact with the animal's skin.
What if she annoys this monkey and he gives her a hard time?
Mina wanted to take her paw back, but Kino was quicker. The monkey's grip tightened around her paws and looked her in the eye.
"Wh-what?"
"You're my savior!" 
Releasing her paw, Kino turned around and all Mina could see was his furry back. 
"Help me scratch my back."
Mina's eyes bulged. 
"Here, here." 
Kino pointed on a small portion in the middle of his back and Mina 
What's wrong with this monkey? 
His hands are so long!  He can reach his back! 
"Kino, what do you know about Serket?"
"That lethal scorpion?"
The question piqued Mina's curiosity and all she could do was observe Kino whose fingers were pointing at a spot on his back.
Mina stared at her paws and started scratching. 
"That Serket, she stings without mercy." 
Kino continued to point to a different place.
"Don't mix things up. Serket is just an annoying bird."
Mina made a face as she spoke. Kino remained silent for a while but before long, she saw the monkey's fingers point to another section on his back.
Mina tried to hold back her temper. This monkey may prove useful when she becomes human again.
And, she didn't want to burn bridges this early.  
Seeing that Kino was just looking outside the pod while scratching his head, Mina continued.
"She likes to hoard the spotlight"
Mina did not stop scratching the monkey's back while trying to juggle his memory. 
"And is giving the general a hard time."
"Not to mention narcissistic."
The scratching became more intense as Mina spurted one line after another. 
"Serket, she's???"
Kino winced as he asked great difficulty, but before he could continue, Mina spoke again. 
"She's a parrot, a parakeet perhaps, with an atrocious color."
Mina took a step closer to the monkey and continued attacking his body. Her chirp-like meows were growing louder and although the noise was not sinister, Kino couldn't help but distance himself from Mina who continued to meow her grievances.
"Her wings --those wings -- the color is so blinding."
"It will hurt your eye." 
Mina spat the lines in a series of passionate meows.
"You need industry-grade goggles."
With each line, Kino took a small step away but Mina was quick to follow him and her paws never stopped scratching the orangutan's back. The monkey's expression turned completely black when he noticed that they circled the pod.
"You'll be repulsed with that bird!"
As Mina's paw came in contact with his back, Kino felt a sharp pain. This time, he took a big step forward. 
"That's enough scratching, Buddy."
The monkey winced and turned around to study Mina, his eyes losing their previous myrrh and looking ready for business.
"Are you are envious of Serket?"
"Of who?"
Kino raised an eyebrow while smoothing his back. Mina returned the monkey's stare before starting another tirade. 
"How could a wonderful creature like me be jealous of that... that bird?"
"So, you're not jealous?"
"That's not the point!" 
"I scratched your back, now you scratch mine! What do you know about Serket?"
"Serket you say?"
Kino dragged his words and stared at the world below.
"Interesting."
With one hand on his chin, he turned and engaged Mina in a staring match before finally speaking.
 "Did she appear as a bird now?"
Kino's hands rested on his chin.
"She had a preference for being a scorpion you see."
"Are you sure you're talking about ...Serket?"
"Yes. Why else would those people hold a meeting with her?"
"That's true. Hmm... Then, the rumors may be true."
Kino had a thoughtful look on his face while pondering over things.
"I'm not sure if I should be telling you this."
Mina hissed but before she could lash out, Kino continued again.
"Serket can take on different animal forms."
"Serket? You mean that... that bird can..." 
"It's not exactly a secret. That's her punishment."
"Punishment for?"
"She violated some rules and got that straightlaced Jadon in trouble too."
"So she severed ties with the Network?"
"No. But she's on probation and," Kino looked at the pod's entrance before gazing into Mina's eyes, "according to the grapevine, she can't use her human form."
Mina gave Kino a blank look.
"Fine!" The monkey had both hands in the air and mumbled.
"Why am I always the one explaining everything." 
Mina raised a paw and licked it while eyeing Kino. 
"Fine!"
"Since Serket can't stay human, she has no choice but to jump from one form to another. She can't stay on one form for too long or she..."
Kino sighed and gave Mina a serious look.
"Or she might get too used to her form and forget ... some things."
"Is that..."
Mina's thoughts were all jumbled and it took her a few seconds to compose her thoughts. 
"If I remain like this for a long time, I would start acting like one?" 
"Weren't you already starting to act like one?"
Suddenly bewildered, Mina could only give Kino an alarmed gaze. 
"You... you mean?"
Kino nodded. 
"Exactly."


Mina has no idea if "she" is dead or alive. But one thing's for sure - with her new furry identity, no one would know she used to have only two legs. 

Armed with her razor-sharp wit and newly discovered cat skills, Mina knows her chances of living a comfortable life is higher with a human who can handle her cattitude and put up with her thirst for fame. 

With her squeaky sidekick Tarou, Mina discovers the world through the eyes of a cat and sets off to change the course of her once pathetic life. At this second shot at life, Mina has one goal -- total world domination or something significant enough to be mentioned in history books. Unfortunately, fate may have other plans in store for her. 

Warning: This novel is full of misunderstandings between a cat and a mouse.

"What happened?" he bellowed in a voice that sent chills to the soldier and the servant. Knowing the master's temper, the soldier quickly explained.

"This servant kicked the master's cat." 

The master looked at the servant with a murderous look.

"Which foot?" Shaking in fear as the master looked at him with a murderous glance, the servant couldn't say a word.

"Which foot?" 

The master asked again, this time in a louder voice. The servant's knees betrayed him when he heard those words. He immediately went down on his knees. 

"I'm sorry master, I will not do it again." he pleaded earnestly, his hands grasping each other. "Master, have mercy on me." 

He eyed man begging at his feet with disdain. He walked past the man and inched closer to the slumped cat on the floor. He picked up the creature with extreme care, patting its head. 

He took a quick look at the dejected man before looking at the soldier who eyed him nervously. 

"A toe will do."

The servant looked at the cat who appeared so haughty as if it is the master's wife. 

"Even the most beautiful maidens could not move the master's heart. How could a cat make him act like a husband who is saving his wife?" he muttered under his breath. 

Lording over its victory over the servant, the cat let out a smile revealing its fangs as if mocking the man.

Kino points her index finger to somewhere and the Elder follows it but there's nothing there, only an empty land, that's what the Elder thought but then, this happens.

In the distance, the Elder could see another Kino, waving her hand to left and right. Seeing this, the Elder is stunned to the very core.

"What the?" It said and it quickly look at the girl beside it, the girl was still there, looking at her second self. The Elder quickly averted its gaze from this Kino to the Kino in the distance.

There are two Kinos! The girl is still waving her hand but then, she turns around her body, runs away and disappears from sight.

"There are two of you." The Elder said what he just saw and Kino nodded and soon enough, the Elder noticed something.

"You… did you just time travel? How is that even possible? You… you just broke the first rule of the Five Principles! But, how come you are still here and not sent to that place? "

The sight was so bizarre that the Elder thought that this was just a dream instead of reality. The sight in front of it basically shattered its view on this world!

If the girl is indeed time traveling, shouldn't the girl disappear from this world and no one will remember it? Instead, she is still kicking and alive, unless.

"You have a clone and make it seem like you travelled to the past. Are you thinking I'm a fool?"

Kino turned its head to the Elder, "Elder, I have no intention to do that. Furthermore, what benefit would I gain to fool you?"

Hearing the girl's words, it makes the Elder calm down a bit. That's right, even if the girl it just saw earlier was a clone, the Elder should see some kind of invisible thread, connecting that girl to this Kino.

You see, to make a clone, one must use their own soul. Of course, only a small fragment. When the clone is successfully made, it will share its thoughts and emotions due to them having the same soul, little did they know that there was a thread that connecting their souls, as if two cans with a string.

With up above, the Elder's doubt of Kino using a clone to make a time traveling scene was gone, though, it hasn't disappeared completely, it was still there albeit by a small amount.

"Forgive my hastiness, little one, looks like because of my old age, I jump to conclusions." It apologized and this made Kino surprised.

Her heart rate jumped for a bit and quickly calmed down, it was like she just got a jump scare. In addition to that, her eyebrows raise slightly and her facial expression changed that of surprise.

Though, it only lasts for a few seconds before coming back to calm and flat.

There is a reason for why Kino would be surprised. As you know, ancient creatures have high pride. So if they apologize to a human, well, you can guess already what would happen.

If Kino tells her brother that an ancient creature is apologizing to her, her big brother would definitely think she was crazy and has screw loose in her brain. Also, she can already imagine her big brother's expression would be.

Well aside that, Kino immediately told the Elder that it was okay and it wasn't that big of a deal. The Elder nodded as it responded.

"Little girl, what happened to this world while I was in my deep slumber? How come I cannot sense any changes in this world?" It asked, the Elder at this point had no choice but to accept that the world had changed. What's more, it even changed without it knowing.

Ancient creatures have a close connection to the essence of the world, which means that. If there is anything that disturbs that essence, it is either some entity from another world or dimension that could destroy the world or a very huge war broke out that could lead to mass extinction, all ancient creatures would wake up and balance the world.

So, if something big like the world changed, the essence of the world would be disturbed and the Elder would wake up, but why did the Elder not?

Kino then picks up something from her Aura Scan. She keeps it activated in case some kind of another ancient creature wakes up, causing ancient creatures, if make a comparison, it would be like a magnet that attracts each other.

Still, the chance of that is very low, about ten percent but it didn't hurt to stay alert of anything. Who knows she picks up something, though, what she got is nothing like she expected.

It's not an ancient creature, a bandit, a crazy zombie villain, a hero that comes and saves the day, or even a floating child, no. Instead, it was the dark thing on the back of the Elder's head.

It keeps growing in size at a fast rate and this makes Kino panicked. She didn't know what that thing on the Elder's head is but it keeps growing.

Even as we speak, its size was the size of a volleyball but two times bigger and it keeps growing.

Kino didn't know why but her instinct told her to stop that thing from growing no matter what, still, what can she do anyway?

She's only a girl that never sees any ancient curses or illnesses but only knows the way to remove or cure them. There is not much she could do to stop that thing from growing.

The Elder noticed the panicked face on Kino's face and couldn't help but ask.

"What's wrong little girl? You seem to be afraid of something."

That's right, not only is Kino's facial expression panicking, she is also afraid. This is a very rare case.

When hearing the Elder's words, Kino was brought back to reality and averted her gaze to the Elder's eyes.

Both eyes stared at each other and in the process, this made Kino's mind realize something.

"Elder, what do you think about your current situation?" Kino quickly asked.

"Huh?" It asked back.

As soon Kino asked that, the black thing behind the head of the Elder stopped growing. Kino then let out a breath of relief.

When it comes to VR games, everyone, from gamers to the technologically adverse wanted to play them. With the advance of technology in the world, a new type of VR is released, which allows its user to enter the realm of videogames. 

A game about a zombie apocalypse is released the day after this new type of VR, and was an immediate success. It was a globally revered sensation at the time, a whopping 2.5 million players played the game, playing for an obscene amount of hours. It was like they never logged off. 

Now, a young man, who is known as Tornado online, is one of those 2.5 million players, trapped in a zombie apocalypse world. Survival is a must. Weaving through the technological reality, anything is possible. You could scrounge for food, set up shelter, or even get an undead girlfriend.

Chuva, algo tão simples, mas que ao mesmo tempo é algo tão complexo. Tão complexo quanto o sentimento humano, alegria, tristeza, raiva, amor, solidão, todos os sentimentos ficam mais claros quando a chuva vem.
Cidade do luar, um nome tão incomum para uma cidade comum. Uma cidade aonde todos esses sentimentos estão sempre a transbordar. Não é uma cidade que conta a história de um garoto com um poder estranho em seu braço direito, nem sobre um rei dragão, e muito menos uma história sobre salvar o mundo, é uma história que conta apenas o cotidiano comum de pessoas comuns, sendo assim até você pode ser o protagonista de uma dessas histórias.
E uma das pessoas que vivem nessa cidade comum é Kino Satsuki. Um garoto de dezesseis anos que não tem nada de especial, ela não é muito baixo, mas também não é muito alto, diria que é uma altura "padrão" para um garoto, em torno de 1,72cm. Seus cabelos era negros e ele os deixava amarrado em um rabo de cavalo de vez em quando, por mais que ele não gostasse muito de se arrumar, olhos castanhos com grandes olheiras. Como eu disse, nada de especial, apenas mais um garoto comum.
Seus gostos também eram coisas comuns, gostava de video-games, quadrinhos, música, fotografia desenhos e animações orientais, ele também gostava de assistir filme e séries.
Ele estava em uma sala de aula, apesar das aulas já terem acabado há alguns minutos, mas como ele tinha pegado no sono durante a aula, ele não viu o sinal que sinalizava o fim das aulas bater.
O céu já estava laranja, pela sua cor podia se dizer que era em torna das quatro da tarde mais ou menos, mas não era possível confirmar isso sem o auxílio de um relógio. A sala também estava vazia, e como ele não tinha um amigo com quem ele conversava com frequência, então ele não foi acordado. Mas apesar da sala estar vazia, em baixo de uma das carteiras próximas a de Kino, tinha um caderno, provavelmente alguém tinha o esquecido.
Após alguns minutos Kino finalmente tinha acordado, ainda meio sonolento ele meio que olhou para o caderno, mesmo que sem querer. Se levantando de forma desanimadora, ele caminhou até essa mesa em específica e pegou o caderno e o começou a olhar para ele.
"Espere eu já volto! Só vou pega uma coisa que esqueci"
Uma voz feminina do lado de fora da sala. Era uma voz bela e graciosa, podia se notar gentileza em seu tom. A dona da tal voz entrou na sala e ficou encarando Kino que estava segurando aquele caderno. A garota tinha curtos cabelos ruivos com as pontas  onduladas, ela também usava óculos e não era muito alta. Kino a conhecia de vista, já que eram colegas de classe, mas ele nunca a chegou a conversar com ela.
"Olá, se não me engano, seu nome é Kino, não é?" - Disse a garota.
"Sim, por que?" - Kino respondeu sem alterar seu rosto sonolento.
"É que, eu acho que esse caderno é meu?"
"Ah, então você foi a pessoa que deixou embaixo da mesa"
Kino estendeu seus braços para que pudesse devolver o caderno. A garota em que ele não sabia o nome o pegou.
"Obrigada!" - A garota agradeceu.
"Por nada, é..."
"Asahina" 
Disse a garota revelando seu nome para Kino. Era um nome bem curto, algo simples de se lembrar.
"Entendi, não é um nome ruim"
"Obrigada, de qualquer forma preciso ir, vejo você amanhã eu acho"
Asahina disse enquanto guardava seu caderno em sua mochila. Ela deu as costas para Kino e foi embora se juntando a uma amiga que a estava esperando perto da porta daquela sala de aula quase vazia. Kino pegou sua mochila, pois já estava ficando tarde. Ele observou a janela por alguns segundos e então foi em direção a porta da sala. A escola parecia vazia, quase se parecendo com uma cena de um filme de terror.
Ao chegar na entrada do  colegio ele conseguiu ver de relance Asahina indo embora com sua amiga, mas logo elas desapareceram de sua visão.
O céu já estava preto, mas isso não era motivo suficiente para deixar as pessoas em casa, pelo contrário, a noite era quando a cidade estava mais movimentada. Kino pegou seu celular e o desbloqueou. Ele começou a mexer em seu celular e abriu seu Twitter para ver o que as pessoas estavam falando. Mas nada chamava sua atenção.
Ele continuou andando pela rua em direção a sua casa, que ficava um pouco longe da escola. Enquanto ele andava começou a cair algumas gotas do céu, era chuva, que apesar de ainda estar bem fina, ninguém gostaria de ficar se molhando. Mas Kino não tentou se abrigar, ela ficou ali no meio para se molhando. Ele olhou para cima e fechou os olhos enquanto sentia as gotas de chuva molharem o seu rosto. Ele ficou alguns segundos assim, mas quando abriu os olhos e olhou um pouco para frente, tinha um garota fazendo o mesmo que ele.
Era uma garota de cabelos curtos, que usava um casaco social branco e por cima um casaco preto com um brasão, era o mesmo casaco de colegial que Kino estava usando. Suas saias eram xadrezes e estava usando meia calças pretas que cobriam todo sua perna, era daquele tipo que realmente se parecia com uma calça. Os dois ficaram se encarando, mesmo que houvesse uma certa distância entre eles, que não era muito longa, mas também não podia se dizer que era muita curta.
"Oi" - Kino disse.
"Oi" - A garota respondeu.
Eles não falaram mais nada depois dizer, não por não qererem, mas por não souberem o que falar. Kino ficou reparando o instrumento que ela carregava em suas costas que estavam dentro de sua caixa. Pelo tamanho devia ser uma guitarra, baixo, violão ou algum instrumento de cordas que pudesse ter o mesmo tamanho. Mas o primeiro a tentar quebrar o silêncio foi Kino.
"Você toca?" - Kino disse apontando para o instrumento.
"Sim. Guitarra"
"Legal. Você também estuda na Snow?"
"Sim. Acho que você também" - A garota concluiu.
"Sim. Me chamo Kino Satsuki"
"Samidare Hikaru" - Disse a garota.
"Ano?"
"Segundo ano. Classe 2-B"
"Mesm classe que eu, apesar de eu nunca ter te visto"
Kino analisou. Mas o fato dele nunca ter visto essa garota não era de se estranhar. Julgando pela personalidade dessa garota, talvez ela seria uma garota mais introvertida e que não fazia muitos amigos. Kino não estava muito distânte disso. Após alguns segundos a chuva parou, na verdade não chegou a ser uma chuva de verdade, apenas alguns chuviscos.
"Então eu vou indo" - Samidare disse enquanto se despedia.
"Espere!" - Kino gritou numa tentativa de parar a Samidare.
"Hã?"
Samidare se virou, mas estava um pouco confusa tentando entender o porque de Kino a ter parado de maneira tão de repente assim.
"Desculpe..."
"Tudo bem, só foi meio estranho você ter me parado dessa maneira" Respndeu Samidare.
"Mas de qualquer forma, o que era?"
"Ah, não é nada..."
"Você é estranho" - Disse Samidare enquanto voltava a andar. Mas logo parou.
"Eu costumo tocar a noite no meio da rua. Tente me achar alguma hora"
Kino não respondeu. Quando Samidare saiu de visto ele voltou seu caminho, mas ao invés de ir direto para casa, como um adolescente faria, ele parou em um parquinho e se sentou em um banco. Naquele pequeno parque que se assemelhava com uma pequena praça não tinha sinais de ter alguém além de Kino por ali. Os únicos sons emitidos eram os de carros que passavam pela rua próxima, os das cigarras e os de celular de Kino. Mas não demorou muito até que uma pessoa chegasse ao parque.
Na verdade não era uma pessoa e sim duas pessoas. A primeira era um garoto que parecia ter a mesma idade de Kido. Ele tinha cabelos que iam até o pescoço, seus cabelos eram negros mas possuiam mechas avermelhadas nas pontas. Ele estava usando uma blusa branca, e calças pretas.
A outra pessoa também era uma adolescente, pela sua aparência não sabia dizer ao certo qual sua idade, mas era uma garota do ensino médio. Seus cabelos eram loiros, mas estavam amarrados, ela também usava um boné. Ela usava uma jaqueta amarela, bermudas pretas e sapatos all-star. Ela também carregava uma mochila consigo. Os dois pareciam ser amigos. Eles eram Kira Oken e Aku Uniga.
"Você é realmente um idiota, me tirando de caso a noite para me trazer aqui!" - Disse Aku enquanto chutava uma latinha para longe que estava jogada no chão.
"Não fique zangada atoa, eu nem te forcei a vim, você veio porque quis, não é?" - Kira disse zombando da garota.
"Talvez. Mas não é porque sou sua namorada que você tem que ficar me chamando sempre que quiser" - Aku disse disse enquanto ia ate um balanço.
"Se não focê eu provavelmente seria você que tentaria me arrastar para algum lugar"
Os dois se sentaram no balanço, e por coicidência esse balanço ficava bem perto do banco em que Kino estava sentado, então ele acabou ouvindo a conversa dos dois, mesmo que isso não fosse a intenção. Ao sentar os dois acabaram percebendo que Kino estava ali o tempo todo. Mas eles não pareciam ligar muito para isso, mas Kira olhou para ele de uma forma o tanto quanto estranho, como se ele tivesse tentando lembrar de algo.
"Oh! Acho que eu te conheço, se não me engano você deve ser Kino" - Kira disse de uma forma bastante casual, como se eles fossem amigos.
"Nós nos conhecemos?" - Kino perguntou.
"Acho que apenas de vista, somos da mesma classe"
"É incrível que você se lembre quem eu sou"
"Sabe como é, é mais fácil se lembrar de quem não tem uma reputação muito boa" - Kira disse enquanto soltava uma pequena risada.
"O garoto que não conversa com ninguém" - Kino disse de forma que se parecesse uma pequena citação.
"Exatamente, esse é o jeito que todos te chamam não é? Acho que se você conversasse mais com as pessoas você poderia melhorar sua reputação"
"A questão não é essa, quando alguém querem implicar com alguém, as pessoas sempre vão achar um boato para espalhar, sempre vão achar um defeito" - Kino disse de maneira melâncolica.
"Acho que você não está errado sobre isso" - Disse Kira sem saber o que deveria responder.
"Mas tem algo que notei já faz algum tempo, diferente do resto que geralmente vão para seus clubes, saem com os amigos ou namorados, ou vão para casa, você não faz nenhum dessas coisas, era como se você estivesse apenas esperando o tempo passar, como se você não quisesse ir para casa" - Disse Kira.
"Eu apenas tento aproveitar o tempo de minha maneira" - Kino disse enquanto se levantava do banco.
"Acho que já vou, não quero atrapalhar mais do que já estou"
"Kino, acho que por dentro você não é realmente alguém que se isola, é como se você não soubesse se abrir ou tem medo, mas acho que essas asas vão acabar se abrindo alguma hora. De qualquer forma, te vejo amanhã" 
Kira disse sem se preocupar em medir suas próprias palavras. Era quase como se ele realmente quisesse alfinetar Kino.
"Certo" - Disse Kino.
"Mas se estivesse com algum problema, pode me chamar" - Kira disse enquanto pegava um pedaço de papel que estava seu bolso, e uma caneta da mochila de Aku.
"Ei! O que está fazendo?" - Aku exclamou.
Kira começando anotar seu próprio numero de telefone no pedaço de papel, e entregou a Kino.
"O que é isso?" - Kino perguntou, mesmo já soubendo a resposta.
"Meu número. Qualquer coisa, só mandar mensagem" - Kira respondeu.
"Okay" - Disse Kino, que guardava o papel no bolso direito de sua calça, e ia embora.
"O que foi isso?" - Aku perguntou sem entender.
"É sempre bom fazer amigos novos. E pessoas como ele, são as que mais precisam de um"
"Você acha que vai conseguir ser amigo dele tão facílmente assim? Esse é o problema de pessoas extrovertidas como você" - Exclamou Aku.
"Eu não sou tão extrovertido assim, mas de qualquer forma, eu não acho que vai ser tão facíl, mas alguém tem que dar o primeiro passo"
Kino estava continuando o seu caminho de volta para sua casa, até que chegou em um bairro. Era um bairro bem mais simples que a maioria dos bairros da cidade. E nele não tinham muitas pessoas pelas ruas, talvez fosse por ser noite, as pessoas prefeririam ficar dentro de suas casas.
Andando um pouco pelas ruas daquele bairro Kino chegou em uma casa específica, e assim como as outras casas daquele bairro, a casa era bem mais simples que as casas dos bairros mais comuns da cidade. Kino colocou a mão no bolso de sua calça e de dentro dela ele tirou uma chave. Ao tirar a chave, ele colocou dentro do buraco da fechadura. Ao abrir a porta de sua casa ele trancou a porta novamente.
A casa não possuía iluminação pois todas as luzes estavam apagadas. A única iluminação vinha de uma televisão que estava ligada, provavelmente era o pai de Kino que estava assistindo, mas que parou de prestar atenção ao ver que Kino tinha chegado.
"Então você chegou?" - Disse seu pai com uma voz grossa.
Kino também não se parecia nem um pouco com seu pai. Seu pai era um homem alto, com poucos cabelos, barba mal feita, sua barriga era um pouco gorda, a típica "barriga de abacate" e talvez fosse pela quantidade de bebidas que tomava com frequência. Ele também não se vestia nada bem, naquele momento ele usava apenas uma camisa branca, que estava um pouco rasgada, e bermudas curtas.
Seu pai tirou o cigarro da boca e o colocou em um cinsero que estava numa pequena mesinha em frente ao sofá. Ele retirou os pés dessa mesma mesinho e se levantou e começou a se dirigir a cozinha.
Kino não respondeu sua pergunta. Era quase como se ele tinha fingido que ele não estava falando com ele.
"Eu te fiz uma pergunta" - Disse seu pai de uma jeito como se estivesse dando bronca.
"Sim..." - Disse Kino enquanto se dirigia para seu quarto.
"Eu ainda estou falando com você? Não sabe escutar enquanto os mais velhos estão falando?"
"Não temos nada o que conversar"
Kino disse enquanto tentava continuar seu caminho até seu quarto, mas quando ele tentou dar um passo, seu ombro foi agarrado pelo seu pai.
"Eu ja disse para você não me ignorar" - Disse seu pai. Pelo jeito e pelo o tom de voz que ele estava usando para conversar, provavelmente ele estava bêbado.
"Eu não estou ignorando você"
Os dois se encaram por um momento. E tanto seu pai quanto Kino olhavam um para o outro com olhos afiada. Após um momento seu pai se aproximou mais de Kino e acabou o acertando com um soco em sua barriga fazendo Kino sentir muita dor.
"Uns amigos meus irão vim aqui amanhã, ou chegue cedo e não saia de seu quarto, ou não volte até as oito" - Disse seu pai largando o ombro do garoto.
Kino continuou o caminho até seu quarto, mas com a mão na barriga, bem no local aonde foi acertado pelo seu pai. Ao entrar ele fechou a porta e a trancou.
Seu quarto também era bastante simples. Perto da parede tinha uma cama de solteiro, um pouco mais a frente uma mesa de estudos. E encostada na outra parede uma pequena estante, apesar dela estar quase completamente vazia. Ao tirar as mochila das costar ele a jogou em um canto qualquer e se jogou na cama. Não passou muitos minutos até que ele acabou caindo no sono.

Já era manhã, e o despertador do celular de Kino estava tocando. Demorou um pouco para que ele acordasse, mas ele acordou. Por mais que ele não quisesse se levantar, ele ainda tinha que ir a escola, então não tinha escolha.
Ao sair de seu quarto ele notou que não tinha ninguém em casa, provavelmente seu pai tinha saído para trabalhar. Era o único momento em que ele tinha paz era esse. Ele foi até o banheiro para tomar um banho. Após o banho ele vestiu o uniforme de sua escola e procurou alguma coisa na cozinha para comer, apesar de não ter muita coisa. Após comer ele saiu de casa e foi para o caminho de sua escola.
Quando ela saiu de seu bairro podia se ver vários outros alunos indo para a escola, mas nem todos pertencia a mesma que Kido. Andando um pouco ele acabou avistando o garoto que ele tinha visto na noite anterior, o garoto que se chamava Kira, que por coicidência acabou avistando Kino.
"Ei! Kino!" - Kira gritou.
Mesmo que Kino tentasse fugir, ela ia apenas parecer algum tipo de maluco. E mesmo que ele não ligasse para isso, uma hora ou outra ele ia acabar esbarrando com Kira, já que os dois eram da mesma classe. Então Kido apenas deixou que aquele garoto fosse até ele, até porque ele também não marecia ser uma pessoa má.
"Eaí" - Disse Kira o comprimentando.
"Oi" - Kino disse de maneira fria.
"Como você está?"
"Bem..." - Kino respondeu mentindo sobre a verdade para Kira. Ele achava que Kira não precisava saber da verdade, e além do mais, os dois nem eram amigos ainda.
"Que bom" - Disse Kira sorrindo.
"Kira!" - Uma voz feminina ecoou de algum canto. Automaticamente Kira se virou para ver quem era. E era sua namorada, Aku.
"Ah, Aku" - Disse Kira.
Aku olhou para Kino que estava ao lado de Kira.
"Ah, Oi" - Disse Aku de uma forma que podia se dizer que era até meio fria.
"Oi"
Os três caminharam até chegar a escola, que não demorou muito. Mas até chegarem lá, eles não trocaram muitas palavras, até porque Kino tinha uma mania de sempre criar uma barreira para não se aproximar das pessoas.
Ao chegarem dentro da escola, eles seguiram por um corredor aonde ficavam suas salas de aulas. Eles se despediram de Aku que não pertencia a mesma sala, e então entraram para dentro da sala.

Essa não nenhum tipo de história complexa, é apenas uma história comum sobre um garoto comum

Kino is going for his early morning run when suddenly behind him crackling of what could be lightning. Astonished, afraid, and confused Kino comes end to end with a barrel of a revolver and a mysterious man behind the weapon. This strange man was dressed in cowboy apparel, appearance that expresses he is not from this time. A sudden sensation engulfs both Kino and the mysterious man, connecting them. They feel what each other feel but what they do not know is there are many like them.

Waking up late in the afternoon, Kino stood up from the bed and stretched as he walked over to the half-open wooden-window view. Turning to find the sun was going to set a while longer, Kino looked down onto the busy road and glanced all over until the scent of freshly-spilled blood caught his nose. 

His eyes flickered with red and before long, dust scattered beneath his feet as he was out the window in seconds.

Racing above several rooftops, Kino's Scarlett gaze gleamed all over the city as he climbed up a spiral building. He stood holding onto a metal rod while taking in the passing current of cold air. Glancing down, in a dark alleyway was a group of men surrounding an old man. 

Climbing down and silently sitting amid a wooden patio, Kino watched while swaying his legs as the group of men pushed the old injured man around. 

"Are you going to tell us who was working the shop on the day when our boss lost his life?! Speak up, old man! We know you work for our boss' enemy, the Shildar company! No amount of praying is going to save you --"

"Stop! "Spooked, the group of men stood back as a small little girl rushed out from the house and stood between the men and the old man with her arms raised. "Leave my him alone! "

Kino's twisted smile shone as he tilted his head in delight at seeing the little girls fierce expression. 

"Get out of the way you brat! You have five seconds before we throw you in with the demi-human slaves and have them kill you too! "Intimidating the little girl worked to no avail as her stern expression remained on her face. "Tsk! This doesn't make us even, old man! We'll be back to collect what is owed! Tell your bosses, the Trhina Company is coming for blood! "

Leaving, the group of men left the alleyway as Kino's grin soon faded into a pout. Glancing down his Scarlett red gaze at the old man and the little girl, Kino watched as the little girl helped the old man back into his shop. 

Inhaling a yawn, Kino stood up while elegantly walking over a thin line over the wooden railing and crossed over onto the next store's rooftop. 

Following the group of men that called themselves, the Thrina company, Kino hitched a ride in one of their wagons and shortly after a half-hour drive, Kino lowered his gaze as he glared backwards from over the wagon and turned to find an old three story building at the edge of the city. 

Glancing up, Kino soon climbed over a nearby tree and rested over the branches as the group of men simply came to drop off a case filled with empty glass bottles. Kino then inhaled a long breath as he then felt how many people were inside. Calmly opening his eyes, Kino moved in closer and wandered inside through an open window on the thrid floor. 

Muffled voices echoed from behind the many doors as Kino passed a narrow corridor. He soon heard a group of men cruddy talking about one of their routes they had taken. 

"Yeah! The three of em', came out of them homes and -- get this, the husband shot an arrow into the miss' slave, killing the demi-human slave! Can you believe that-"Kino grew bored of the conversation and instead, continued walking along until reaching a set of wooden doors different from the rest. 

Lightly placing his hand onto the silver handle, Kino opened the door wide and walked inside without a care in the world. 

"-and with that alone, Fringred' is a perfect place to move our wares through -- uh, can I help you? "As three sharply dressed men turned their eyes from a map on a table, Kino casually walked around the room as the man behind the desk asked Kino who he was. "Who is she -- is she with either of you?! "

"No/No. "The three soon turned and watched in susrpise as Kino approached the three and glance down at the map. 

"Here -- here. And here. "As the three men watched Kino place his beautiful fingers over the map gracefully, the three men snapped their gazes and watched more intnetly as the route Kino described would be twice as safer and less cost-effective. 

"W-Who are you? How did you know about that route?! "One of the men grew angry as he knew about the route yet, purposely tried to get more coin by lying to the other two. 

"I take it you knew about this route, didn't you Stafford! Hah! What a man you are -- bringing us here and trying to con us! "

"No, wait! I did know about the route b-but it isn't, urgh!"The other two men shook their heads as they turned to Kino still casually glancing and walking around the room. 

"This lass saved me and mine a ton of coin... I'll have to thank her in kind by having her accumpony me to my company for her reward. "As the old man turned to Kino, Stafford and the other man soon glanced at each other and turned to Kino. "Tell you what, what does 5% of having access to my vast wealth sound, lass? "

"Count Inra! "Shrugging his shoulders as the man seated beside him spoke out in a surprised tone. 

"I-Ill give you 10% of what I own! "Believing it must have been a ruse by one of the other two, Stafford threw his hat in the ring, thinking Kino was some brilliant strategist. 

"Sir Stafford!? "Turning to Kino taking a few steps while crossing his arms and lightly tapping his lips, Kino scoffed as he turned and that alone caused the two men to argue over a better price. 

"25% and I'll throw in Royal clothing from the palace I have procured last winter! "Clenching his teeth, Count Inra then argued in tern. 

"Hah! 30% and I'll even throw my villa in East Thribal'! "Smug, Kino playfully giggled while still walking around the room as they continued to fight over Kino. 

"Urgh! Count Inra, I find it hard to believe you can afford such luxury in the company of a woman! After all, are you not already married? "Count Inra shot up as Stafford sat clearing his ear with a triumphant expression. 

Kino laughed in delight until Myrva's soft voice echoed in his ear.

Turning, Kino opened a glass window and jumped out into the night as the three men raced to see the ground and find no trace of Kino.

"Kino?! Are you in there?! "As Myrva knocked on the door to Kino's room, Kino was racing back to the inn as his every step shattered dozens of rooftops as if small explosions were erupting all at once. 

As the handle to his room began to turn from outside, Kino dove across the air and as Myrva walked inside, Kino was standing beside the open window with his gaze tilted as the air calmed around him.

"Oh, you okay dear? I didnt hear a response and thought you be having a fever again? "Kino's eyes soon adjusted and returned back to normal however, as they reverted, Kino's energy soon plumited and fainted as Myrva walked over and caught him. "Oh!? Kino! Kino?! "

Setting Kino down on the bed, Myrva rushed out to get a warm towel and water as Kino was drenched in sweat. 

During that time, Kino's soles to his feet had been badly bruised however, in the short amount of time Myrva came back, his skin had healed as if there was no damage whatsoever, despite having felt the stinging pain just a few minutes before. 

"Oh, dear. You must be having a hard time adjusting to this city. Hmm. "As Kino glanced down at Myrva, Kino held her hand as he closed his eyes to rest for a while. "What a troublesome girl we have taken into our family... Huh, Retsu. "

"Good morning ma'am" bati kay Cielo ng dalawang unipormadong sekretarya na nakaupo sa front desk ng opisina niya. Siya na kase ang nagmamanage ng Guia Enterprises dahil nagretiro na ang kanyang mga magulang at ayaw naman itong pamahalaan ng dalawa niyang kapatid na lalaki, nagtayo rin kase ang mga ito ng kani-kaniyang negosyo. Ang Guia enterprises ang pinakamalaking supplier ng mga medical equipment sa buong pilipinas.

"Good morning." tinanguan lamang niya ang mga ito at dumiretso na siya sa kanyang opisina, wala siya sa mood magtrabaho dahil mainit ang ulo niya. Last night sa hindi niya mawaring dahilan ay biglang naki-pagbreak sa kanya ang two months old palang niyang boyfriend na si Rafael. Ibinagsak niya sa table niya ang kanyang handbag at sumalampak ng upo sa swivel chair niya at diniinan ang kanyang sintido.

Halos di siya nakatulog magdamag sa kakaisip kung anong dahilan ng pakikipaghiwalay sa kanya ng naturang boyfriend niya.

Tumunog ang intercom sa table niya, hudyat ng pagtawag ng PA niya para sa schedule sa araw na iyon. Pinindot iyon ni Cielo.

"Ma'am, may schedule po kayo ng brunch meeting with Mr. Hountly this 10:00 am. Kino-confirm ko lang po." saad ni Maricon ang PA niya.

"I cancel mo lahat ng appointment ko today and please wala kang papapasuking bisita at wala akong tatanggaping tawag unless emergency." utos niya dito. Pinatay niya ang intercom at sumandal sa swivel chair niya.

Hinihilot niya ang kanyang sintido dahil pakiramdam niya ay puputok na iyon sa sobrang sakit pero biglang bumukas ang pinto ng kanyang opisina at direderetsong pumasok doon sina Vince at ang kuya Jion niya.

"Bakit mo ikinancel ang bussiness meeting natin Cielo?" bungad agad ni Vince sa kanya "hindi mo ba alam kung gaano kahalaga ang bawat oras ko para lang sayangin mo ng ganon lang?" nakakunot ang noo nito habang nakatayo sa harapan ng table niya.

"Bakit nandito kayo? Kakatawag palang ng sekretarya ko ah!" binalewala naman niya ang init ng ulo nito.

"Nandiyan na kami sa labas ng pinto mo ng tumawag ang sekretarya mo." lumayo si Vince at naupo sa sopa sa tapat ng table niya habang umupo naman sa mismong table niya ang kanyang kuya.

"Ano na naman ang problema mo ngayun at pati negosyo ay idinadamay mo!" tanong ng kuya Jion niya.

"Kase hindi ko maintindihan ang lalaki ngayun!? bigla nalang nakipagbreak sa akin si Rafael samantalang okey naman kami, wala naman kaming pinagawayan! Anu kayang pumasok sa kukote ng isang iyon?" himutok niya sa dalawang lalaking bagong dating.

"Yung baklang iyon nakipagbreak sayo? Wow! Kelan pa?"tatawa-tawang sagot ni Vince sa kanya.

"Maka-bakla naman to, wagas!" binato niya si Vince ng ginusumot na kapirasong papel na nadampot niya sa ibabaw ng table niya, pagkatapos ay bumuntong hininga siya. "last night nagdidinner kami tapos nagexcuse siya sakin sandali para mag cr, tapos pagbalik niya ayun na, bigla nalang siyang nakipagbreak sa akin!" kuwento niya sa mga ito.

"So youre telling us na kaya hindi matutuloy ang meeting natin is because heartbroken ka ganon?" tanong pa rin sa kanya ni Vince.

"actually hindi naman masakit para sa akin ang makipaghiwalay sa kanya, dahil nasa stage palang naman kami ng getting to know each other, kaya lang nagtataka talaga ako! Bakit lahat nalang ng nagiging boyfriend ko iniiwan ako, lagi nalang silang nakikipagbreak sakin!" di na napigilang ni Cielo ang maghimutok sa harapan ng dalawang hunk na tumatayong tagapakinig sa mga sintemyento niya sa buhay., wala siyang pake kahit mabagot pa ang mga ito sa pakikinig sa kanya, dahil lagi naman ganoon ang scenario nila, pag hindi sa PA niya o isa sa mga kuya niya ay si Vince ang palaging takbuhan niya sa mga ganitong pagkakataon.


"Baka naman nagising lang sa katotohanan ang isang iyon?" ani ng kuya niya.


"Katotohanang ano?" tiningnan niya ng masama ang kuya niya.

"Na ang princesa ng mga Guia ay hindi pwedeng mapunta sa kung kani-kanino lang." makahulugang ngiti ang ibinigay nito kay Vince na nakatitig lang sa kuya Jion niya.

"Pambihirang buhay to! Kung lahat na lang ng lalaki sa mundo na magugustuhan ko ay iisipin na princesa ako eh baka hindi na magka-asawa nito!" lalong nadagdagan ang kunot sa noo ni Cielo. "Saang lupalop ko naman kaya hahanapin ang prinsipe ko,? diyos ko naman!"

"Anjan lang yon sa tabi-tabi!" tumayo na ang kanyang kuya at lumakad palapit sa kinauupuan ni Vince. "wag kang mainip, balang araw kikilos din ang tunay mong prinsipe!"

"kelan pa? Pag uugod-ugod na ako? Ayokong tumandang dalaga kuya!" maktol pa rin niya rito.


"Hoy Cielo, bente-kwatro anyos ka palang! Anung matandang dalagang pinagsasabi mo?" pinanlakihan siya ng mata ng kuya Jion niya, di na napigil nito ang pagtawa. Sinabayan din ito ni Vince ng halakhak.

"Kuya sa panahon ngayun, ang babae pag nag twenty five na ibig sabihin malapit ng tumandang dalaga! At twenty four na ako, so isang taon na lang at malapit na akong mapabilang sa listahan ng matatanda." paliwanag niya sa mga ito.

"Cielo wag kang magmadali okey, bata pa ang twenty four!" nakatitig sa kanya si Vince habang nakalabas ang trademark nitong Box smile. "look! Wag mo munang isipin ung mga lalaking yan ha! Marami ka pang oras, ienjoy mo muna ang sarili mo sa ngayun." tumingin ito sandali sa kuya niya pagkatapos ay muling ibinalik ang titig sa kanya. "Ill promise you hindi ka tatandang dalaga."

"Pano mo naman nasabi yon? Aber!" hamon niya dito "Bakit may kilala ka bang babagay sa mala prinsesa kong ganda!?"

Lalong lumawak ang pagkakangiti ni Vince sa sinabi niyang iyon.

"Wag kang mag-alala Sis, siya lang ang nagiisang lalaking kilala ko na babagay sa iyo!." natatawang sabi ng kuya ni Cielo.

"You look just like your mother, Hyunggu." 
Kino stared at the ground. He had just moved in with his aunt and uncle after a car crash took his parents away from him. He felt very distant and didn't want to speak to anyone. 
His aunt, his mom's sister, was sitting across from him, trying to cheer him up. She thought talking about this with him would help, but it definitely didn't. It just made it hurt even more. He didn't want to talk or think about his parents. 
Kino was six years old and his aunt and uncle had gotten custody of him. He was always a little scared of his uncle, but they were the people his parents wanted him to go to if something happened. 
"Hyunggu?" 
"Oh... hi," he says, looking up at her. 
His aunt was nice, someone he had been quite close to since he was a baby. She was the only thing he was excited about when it came to moving in here. 
"Hey... I know it's been a few weeks... and I'm sorry about what happened. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to go for a walk? We could go pick some flowers in the garden." 
Kino nodded. "Okay." 
She smiled softly at him and opened the kitchen door, which led out to their very large garden. Kino followed her. 
They held hands as they walked through the garden. It was summer, all of the flowers in bloom. The garden was perfectly manicured. There was a walkway that led to a clear, circular area with a fountain in the middle. Kino always liked it back here. 
"You're enjoying your time here, right?" She asked him. "I hope so. We want to make things easier on you." 
"I'm okay," Kino replied. 
"You know I love you Hyunggu," his aunt told him. 
"I know. I love you too." 
"Good," she said, smiling. 
They stopped in the clear area and walked to the left, where a bunch of white roses were blooming. There were high bushes, which made the garden very secluded. Kino smiled and looked at the white roses. They were so pretty!
"Hyunggu.. could you do something for me?" 
Six year old Kino turned to her. "You mean like a favor?" 
"Yes, a favor," she said. She seemed a bit nervous. She rubs her hands together, as if she was anxious. 
"Okay. Of course," Kino said, flashing her a smile. One of his front teeth were missing. She smiled. 
"Wonderful... um... Hyunggu, could you kiss me?" 
Kino blinked. "Oh, sure!" 
She got down on her knees and he gave her a peck on the cheek. "There you go!" 
His aunt laughed. "No no Hyunggu... on the lips." 
As a six year old, Kino saw nothing wrong with this. "Okay," he agreed. He thought it was harmless. 
He kissed his aunt on the lips. 
She smiled at him. "Wow, you're a good kisser, Hyunggu." 
"Good," he said. He smiled and turned back to the wall of roses. 
He felt his aunt's hands on him. He jumped. 
"Aunt Ara?" He turned to look at her. 
"Shh..." She kissed him again. 
Kino didn't know what was happening. He had no idea what sex was when he was that young. She touched him in very wrong places and kissed him. 
When she was done, she stood. "We should do this again, Hyunggu." 
He was quiet. He didn't hate what happened, but he didn't like it. He felt a tad weird now, but he was overall just confused. 
Was this affection? 
"Oh, and Hyunggu?" 
"Yeah?" 
"Don't tell your Uncle."

11 years later...
Kino was now seventeen years old. 
He had lived with his aunt and uncle for ten years, and it had started taking a toll on him. His aunt continued to sexually assault him. 
As he got older, it got worse. She would force him to have sexual relations with her. Kino never liked it. Every time it happened, he just wanted to get away from her and be by himself. 
He went to school like everyone else, played sports, tried to be a normal kid, but he never said anything about what was going on at home. On top of his aunts' sexual abuse, his uncle had taken to beating him if he didn't get his chores done, or if he talked back, or if he did anything that was considered 'out of line'. 
Kino was now out of school for the weekend. 
His aunt had just got done with him in a closet. He closed his eyes and waited for her to leave. 
"Don't say anything, or you'll get in trouble," she said. 
She left the closet, leaving Kino alone. 
Maybe I should just give in... I mean it would be easier... she's only trying to help... I'm the one who's in the wrong... 
Kino was shaking as he left the closet a few minutes later. 
He had started to hate people touching him. 
Why on earth would he like it? The only time he was ever touched was when his aunt was sexually assaulting him, or his uncle was beating him. 
It was starting to give him panic attacks. 
Kino didn't know how to control them. Sometimes, after his aunt or uncle was done with him, he would go up to his room and shake and cry and have horrible flashbacks to different occurrences. 
It was weird. He had trusted his aunt, but she was the one who hurt him. 
It was getting to the point where he could barely touch someone. If someone wanted to hold his hand, it would take everything in him to accept. 
This weekend he finally reached his breaking point. 
His aunt assaulted him three times in one day. As he was doing dishes his uncle walked in. 
"Hyunggu!" 
Kino turned and looked at him. He was already across the kitchen and grabbing Kino by the collar. "You've been screwing my wife?! You sick f**k!" 
Kino's eyes widened. "W-What?!" 
His uncle's fist connects with Kino's jaw and he falls back into the counter. Oh no... why couldn't he ever do anything right?! His uncle found out... he was done for. 
"Stop!" Kino cried. 
His uncle slammed him up against the counter and he cried out from both shock and pain. He punched Kino over and over until he fell to the ground. His uncle took advantage of this and kicked him in the stomach. Kino let out an "OOF" as the wind is knocked from his lungs and he fell on his side. 
The man kept kicking him over and over. Kino blacked out for a little while as the man continued to hit him in the stomach the head, the legs, the arms. 
When he finally came to, he was laying on the kitchen floor. His face was sitting in a pool of his own blood. 
He could barely breathe. 
"H-Help," he wheezed. 
He found he could barely take a breath. Something was definitely wrong. He'd never felt like this before. 
He was able to stand up, but barely. He gasped for air as he quickly grabbed the house phone. 
Kino needed to act fast. He wheezed and blood started to drip steadily from his mouth. 
He dialed 9-1-1. 
Waiting for the dispatcher to pick up was so scary. He glanced around the room, then looked in the living room. No one was there. 
"9-1-1 what's your emergancy?" 
"H-Help," he wheezed. "I-I... can't... b-breathe!" He gasped for air. 
"Okay sir, what happened?" 
"I... got a-attacked!" His side was killing him. What was going on?! 
"Okay, where are you sir?" 
He gave them his uncle and aunt's address and they told them they would be on their way immediately. 
Kino was in bad shape. His head was killing him and he was pretty sure something was wrong with his lungs. 
He stumbled into the living room and looked out the window to see if they were still home. 
They weren't. His aunt's white car was gone. 
They... left him there. To die. 
Kino was panicking. What did he do?! What if he died?! 
One of his eyes were swollen shut. He accidentally hit the corner of a table and he let out an almost silent, painful cry. 
About ten excruciating minutes later, an ambulance shows up at the house. Kino had collapsed onto the couch, sideways, his head leaning on the back of the couch. He was sweating horribly from the pain and exertion. His breathing was getting worse. 
They hurried in the door that Kino had opened for them and started looking around. "He's in here!" They shouted. 
Kino didn't have the energy or the oxygen to stay awake any longer. He passed out as he saw someone rushing toward him.

Kino never returned to the house. 
He was in the hospital for a month or so. His lung had been punctured by a broken rib and he had to have surgery to fix it. They were able to arrest the uncle, but his aunt went free. 
His aunt and uncle had fled when they thought that his uncle had killed Kino. His aunt went to jail for a little while for assisting the uncle, but eventually went free. She did not get custody of Kino. The uncle went to prison for 5 years. 
Kino's fear of being touched had escalated since he almost died. He never went back to school or even saw society again after he was in the hospital. He went from the hospital, then was checked into the Pentory State Mental Institution when he kept getting scared of the nurses trying to treat him. 
He didn't want people to touch him in any way. 
He was seventeen, almost eighteen when he was checked into the institution. 
Kino has been a patient at Pentory State Mental Institution for 4 years.

Jane Whittaker is fresh out of college and has gotten a new job at the Pentory State Mental Institution. Upbeat, excited, and hopeful, she's taking on an extreme case with eight patients. 

These eight patients all have different disorders and phobias and have been there for different periods of time.

It was yet another day of work before Saturday. Rui Ning woke up, surprisingly, earlier than Rui Xing. By the time Rui Xing changed into her work uniform, Cookie was already eating her breakfast. Rui Xing was about to leave the house when Cookie pulled her leg, not wanting her to leave. Cookie pleaded to go with us to work. She was probably feeling bored at home with her toys and from drinking water.

Rui Ning looked at Rui Xing and shook his head, disapproving of Cookie coming with them. "Cookie might fall ill because of the other infected or sick animals in the Vet." Rui Ning convinced her not to bring Cookie along. 
"Alright then." "I'm sorry, Cookie. We can't bring you along. I'll play with you tomorrow, ok?" Rui Xing said to Cookie though she probably couldn't understand what she was saying. 

Then, Rui Ning locked the door and went into the car with Rui Xing. They sat in silence, only able to hear the music in the car playing. Rui Xing was reading a book through her phone. She still had no free time to read the books she borrowed from the library. Luckily, the books aren't due till next month.

They reached the Veterinarian and got out of the car as soon as Rui Ning parked it. She walked into the Veterinarian with Rui Ning but went separate ways inside the Veterinarian. Rui Xing went to check on Hana while Rui Ning went to check on the cat with a broken leg that was still in recovery. Rui Xing saw Hana's gleeful face when she saw Rui Xing walk towards her. She went towards the kitchen near where Hana was at and prepared her breakfast. 

She handed the food over to Hana, placing it in front of her. Hana gobbled up her food again. After she finished eating, Rui Xing carried her to the same enclosed room to check on her wound. Looking at the wound, it was getting better than before. It healed slightly. She took out the plaster on the wound and changed it. Then, Rui Xing carried Hana back to her cage to rest. 

Rui Xing then took in another dog that needed to be seen. The owner brought in his dog, it's name is Kino, and it's a Australian Shepherd mixed with Pomeranian. It looked so cute! However, Kino had maggots in its ears and small scratches on its body. The owner informed Rui Xing that the scratches were from wild cats on the streets and that she had no idea how the maggots had formed on Kino.

Kino was taken into another enclosed room to be treated. Rui Xing held Kino in her arms and let him down on the table. Rui Xing removed the maggots using a blunt tweezer. She washed the infected areas with Betadine solution and dried Kino in a towel. Kino growled when she was removing the maggots, as it irritated him. Rui Xing gave him a warm bath which then relaxed him and he didn't feel as tense as before. The scratched parts on Kino's body was washed thoroughly before the bath. Plasters were placed on the scratched parts of Kino's body.

Kino was ready to go home! Rui Xing gave Kino a pat on his head before giving him back to his owner. "Thank you so much! Can I get your name? I'll be sure to give you a lunch treat." The owner wanted to repay Rui Xing with lunch but Rui Xing said, "I'm Rui Xing. You don't have to treat me to lunch. Just take good care of Kino" After hearing Rui Xing's words, he nodded his head and walked out the door with Kino in his arms.


It was around 6.45pm and Rui Xing went back to Hana's cage. Hana barked loudly and spun around in circles many times when Rui Xing was back to see her. It was also time for Hana to have dinner. Rui Xing added an extra ingredient, which was chicken, for Hana's dinner. Hana again finished her food really fast, she finished it under 1 minute! Rui Xing looked at Hana's wound and it was healing. The wound should be healed in 3 days time and Hana would be ready to have a new owner! Originally, Hana was supposed to be returned to its previous owner. Rui Xing called the previous owner through the microchip Hana has and the owner told her he didn't want Hana anymore. How irresponsible! Hence, Hana will be up for adoption once she recovers from her injury.

A 21 year old girl is in a love triangle. Whose heart would she break? Who will she end up with? How would her loved-ones react?
