Planes began soaring across the sky, signalling the start of Wave #3. The zombie crates heavily dropped onto the ground. 

Don't know if it was the increased difficulty of Wave #3 or because the squad got full battle gear sets which triggered another difficulty increase in the system, there were about 9 crates that landed. Going by the old assumption of 24 zombies per crate, the group was faced with 216 zombies, with more concentrated on the front. 

Jay assigned Alex to cover the backyard, Elon on mobile support to deliver assistance to whichever side that needed help. With Christian, Jay laid down heavy fire and guarded the choke at the front gate. 

The plan was working! Although some zombies were running quite fast at them, there was a flaw in the design of the zombies' pathing, where they would just blindly follow the direction that seemed to have an opening, where in fact was much more dangerous than trying to take down the obstacle. It was fortunate that the zombies weren't equipped with such analytical and risk assessment abilities, or could it simply be designed to be this weak since they were only on the difficulty level of Wave #3? 

The group basically massacred the zombies coming at them. A few zombies didn't execute the proper pathing and wanted to climb the fence, but they were soon shot down by Elon's QBU. 

Although this was the biggest wave they've encountered, it was the easiest battle they had. After a quick discussion, they decided to fire a few rounds without silencer so they could lure more zombies over to get more credits.

Since all of their account balance were linked to Jay's Nirvana tablet, the increase in credits reflected the sum of zombies they killed. In total, the group got 290 credits from this battle, totalling up to 26,685 credits. 

Thinking that the wave was almost over, Elon brought up the laptop to check out Youtube to see what was going on around the world, only to be shocked by the trending live-streaming videos.

It was a news company with a brave reporting team working in a helicopter, surveying the aerial space above Miami. 

"Tens of thousands of Miami citizens were refuged in District 12 Miami Coast Guard Base area in Miami Beach, Florida, but right now we are seeing a heavy attack directed towards the military base! This is Christine Walter, brought to you live from ABC News." 
 
District 12 is located on an island in Biscayne Bay, and the refuges were stationed on ships and yachts. However, even though the military base was surrounded by water, they were still under heavy attack, as many crates landed straight onto the island, completely destroying the military's formation and attacking the backline, 

The soldiers were forced into smaller groups as the crates divided the island. Although District 12 was a military base equipped with an adequate level of fire power, the difficulty of the wave also increased significantly for them. 

From the footage, they even saw the horrifying sight of mutated zombies! There were a few muscular giants that were at least twice the height of the troops on the ground, and the bullets seemed to have no effect on them as they just charged into crowds and slaughtered all humans in sight. Faintly, Alex also spotted a few dark shadows that seemed to be down on all four limbs but were able to jump a significant distance onto their targets, clawing the unfortunate victims to death. Christian also spotted a few that could shoot out their tongue or whatever it was from their mouth, catching their targets completely off guard in the distance and pull them over. 

"Quick, check the app's Wiki page and see if someone posted any information about those things," Jay quickly told Elon to check the tablet.

"These zombies do look familiar, are they ripping off of Resident Evil or Left 4 Dead 2? I swear I've seen those characteristics and abilities on those mutated zombies in those games before!" Christian suddenly remembered as he slapped himself on the back of his head and said. 

"Well, it's really just the basic types of zombie mutation - speed, range, size. I just hope Nirvana doesn't come out with some insanely overpowered ones that could go invisible or some sh*t. I think I would rather kill myself than let you guys see me sh*t my pants," Alex said half-jokingly. 

"Oh hey, there are instructions on how to contribute to the Wiki section." Elon was led to a mini tutorial session since he was opening the Wiki tab for the very first time. "Oh wow, so there are all these zombie cards with name revealed but their picture blurred. To reveal basic stats and abilities on a specific zombie, you need to take a clear picture of it using the app." 

"Okay, now I'm pretty sure the people behind Nirvana are basically designing this like a game, and we are the players in this game. Seriously, what is he trying to achieve with this?" Jay was completely confused. 

"But hey, you also get to contribute by adding tips on how to deal with specific zombies, as well as hidden abilities the zombies may have. The rule says that if other people found your tips useful, or if you are the first one that correctly unveils a hidden ability, you will get contribution points. Your contribution points also refreshes every week," Elon read the tutorial carefully and shared with the group.

"Wait, what are the contribution points for?" 

"Give me a second! Still trying to read yo."

Okay, before you drop a review before reading this novel, let me just tell you this novel won't be about reading others playing games via a novel nor is it a fan-fic, but rather it's about someone who was known for being a god in PUBG carrying his playstyle and survival instincts into the real world when the apocalypse took place. 

This book is inspired by Code Geass, Gundam Seed, Gundam 00, and PUBG. 

Okay, now for the real synopsis, after battle royale games went mainstream and PUBG & Fortnite took it to staggering heights in popularity, streamers of this game were also brought in to share the spotlight. 

Amongst all PUBG streamers, the group Big D Brings Spring stood at the top, with the squad consisting of Phantom Pen15, Ricedoctor, Dildo Swaggins, and Givemethatchicken. 

So yeah, these guys were streaming PUBG, making good money, and suddenly sh*t hits the fan and the apocalypse happened. Is Big D gonna bring spring this time? Or is it gonna go limp and flap in the wind?

Already familiar with survival, scavenging and battle royale style gameplay, can these ding dongs use what they learned in video games to survive in this new world, not be retarded, farm up, and rise up against the forces behind the apocalypse? 

Author Note: Yeah it’s a fiction, first time writing, but have been translating for 2 years now on both good and trash novels (one of the best and one of the worst on Webnovel), which taught me what to do and what not to do.

After greedily buying dozens of skills without consideration of tomorrow Arthur realized that most of the skills he bought are for himself and Ashena while Helen was staying silent and watching them devour skill books.
"Helen, are you sure? You don't want anything? "asked Arthur
" I think you forgot the fact that with the ability you have, you can turn some of your repetitive actions into skills and with party system I can do the same for myself " before and Helen explain herself full Arthur interrupts her and said
" and with you being... well possibly older than the world we in and the fact that you are coming from a higher dimensional reality than me means techniques you develop yourself or the ones you learned in that place are far better than the skills I hoped to buy in coming years and as long as you have enough energy to use them a single time you will possibly get the skill recorded in your system," said Arthur realizing his companion once a massively powerful being that his moral mind has no way of comprehended her might to its full extent. The things he bought are possibly similar to scraps compared to the mythical artifacts.
"Yes... that's true but you don't need to sulk over something like this. I already put all of my free stats points coming from this hunt and the ones from the slaver ship we destroyed into intelligence and after reaching 50 points in that stat a notification appeared on my screen saying that from now on I don't need to take mana from you to come out from your soul space...
What I'm trying to say is I can possibly create some of the skills from my past right now and I can just teach them to you to if you want or... I don't know if it's possible but if we can get our hands on empty books and a pen I can try to write a skill book myself. I mean I spent a lot of time training these techniques I know every single little detail about them. " said Helen trying to cheer up Arthur.
"Well... we deal with that part later but for now I got you guys a present," said Arthur and take 20 iron coins and 2 telekinesis skill books.
While you were in the dungeon I tried to find a way the improve our luck stats. I think even if it's just between ourselves, or maybe using some clones gambling is the best way to improve this stat so I prepared some game cards from thinned down iron but flipping coins will do the trick too, but when I realized flip the only if had hands and both with the coins and the card, it would be impossible for Ashena to do it from the start, so I add another small trick to the equation <Telekinesis>, with this Ashena can use this trick too and I believe when the telekinesis evolved into higher tiers we can do much more than little parlor tricks" said Arthur
While Arthur and Helen talking suddenly a coarse woman voice heard from their behind.
"I... will... not... burden...master... I... will... become... stronger..."

"I'm sorry that you felt that way Ashena and let me tell you one thing, from the moment we met to until now there hasn't been a single moment I thought of you as a burden," said Arthur but before he continues Helen interrupt him.
"Ashena, how did you suddenly become able to talk?" asked Helen.
"I...copy...you...I...put...50...Intel...ligence...became...able...fight...without...masters...mana...then...50...to...wisdom...blue...thing...appear...said...I...can...talk...with...master..." said Ashena while trying to get used to her new ability.
"That's quite a... " before Helen can finish her sentence this time she gets interrupted by Arthur.
Arthur said "Come here girl " and gave a big hug to Ashena. While start petting the giant shadow wolf Arthur said "I already know Ashena was the smartest. You didn't need to push yourself to tried to make me happy. I already become the luckiest man in the multiverse when I get a loyal companion like you in the first place." and gets himself happy puppy noises followed by a reverse big hug from Ashena.
"What do you say, do you want to hunt zombies with me? Just two of us crashing those ugly things to dust. Just for a single dungeon, we can even stop caring about mana cost and you can show me your new skills or I can open an empty dungeon we play around with the darkness spells we got." said Arthur.
Ashena's voice was still a little coarse but it sounded like her voice filled with joy" We can... play... zombie crush... I want to... play... zombie crush... with master!!! "
"I think I get to the gist of it but what exactly is the zombie crush? " asked Arthur.
"Ashena and I were talking about your experiences from your first life while we were in the dungeon. I mentioned to her a game called candy crush that I saw in your memories. Ashena wanted to play that came but since we don't have cellphones we used zombie to replicate the game in the dungeon." said Helen
"That sounds like... whatever. Let's go play some zombie crush, and since we are doing something new anyways, let's try the new dungeon mod I got," said Arthur and he opened up zombie dungeon's Boss Mod, filled with legion zombies as basic cannon fodder.
(Author Note: I explain this in the comment part before but since most of you possibly missed it. There won't something like bestiality in this novel. Ashena won't get a human form and join the protagonist's weird harem(by the way there won't be a harem in this story ). Think of her like animal companions from avatar: the last air bender and legend of Korra (like appa and naga ) )

It's a gamer fanfic. as you read on the title. I'll write it mostly for my own amusement and practicing english .

Technology had become everything and then some jerk uploaded a virus into the world's systems causing mass system crashes everywhere and if that wasn't bad enough someone released a biological weapon that turned 90% of humanity into zombies the upside is those who were immune suddenly found that they now had a system that basically granted them superpowers. I am a survivor of the tech plague I was literally a nothing just some gamer geek who looked like a ghost because I didn't see much sun in fact the first time I realized something was going on was when I flipped on the tv and got nothing but static.
    I turned on my radio and listened for the emergency broadcast and finally found out that the world as I knew it had been utterly destroyed most infected had turned into some form of zombie the majority of which were either sprinters or walkers sprinters are from the more athletic people in life who jogged or ran while walkers are just the average person body builders became tanks literally undead beasts that have so much mucle they are nearly impossible to kill with a firearm though thankfully only the ones on steroids seemed to bulk up to proper tanks and then the people who were seriously overweight became walking bombs all the fat in their bodies converted into toxic plague ridden gases one hit and they explode. The special undead who still retained their memories some even gained the abilities reserved for the living and now the living most are simply mundanes no special abilities to speak of yet still they became stronger and faster than they were originally and finally the specials who got every kind of psionic ability unlocked though most only had one or two of them everything from remote viewing to pyrokinesis and telepathy it was exciting to find out though I didn't learn it from the emergency broadcast but the ramblings of a pirate radio station. 
    I didn't feel any stronger or faster so I figured I'd not gotten infected yet but just to be sure I browsed the Internet and looked up a wiki on the hows and whys surprisingly the internet was still up. I found out that the more zombies you kill in melee combat the better your chances of not becoming a zombie and of getting your psionic powers unlocked. I decided to search through my place to find anything of use and found a replica sword that was both blunt and heavy made to be displayed but could probably kill a couple zombies if I tried though I'd have to reinforce the handle and put an edge on it before I did and I also found my autographed baseball bat that would certainly work for killing zombies so I doubled up on shirts put my toughest jacket on and put longer shorts on over my pants and duck taped newspapers around my forearms then I put on my toughest set of gloves which happened to be open finger type leather motorcycle gloves and then I set out to kill some zombies.
     My first encounter went terribly I met a sprinter and he rusher me before I could get a swing in luckily I managed to fend him off long enough to draw my dull sword and stab him with my dull blade which slowed him down enough to get a connection with my bat. I recovered my sword and looked for another line zombie to kill and quickly found another this one a walker and it turned out to be an easy fight after all how strong can a disease make a 90 year old grandmother who had been my neighbor for years. I was starting to get the hang of killing zombies and got a little cocky so when I spotted three walkers I tried to take them all on bad idea I managed to take the first zombies head right off with my sword but then it broke and the blade impaled the third zombie not slowing it in the least my bat easily took out the second zombie but by then the third was trying to bite me so I pushed it back and sliced my left hand open on the broken sword blade. I managed to finish the last zombie and retreat to my apartment to deal with my wounded hand using some dishrags and duct tape I even doused it with alcohol before I put it on boy did that not feel good ouch. I sat down after performing some first aid and contemplated what it would take to heal up my hand time wise and winced I'd killed 5 zombies and now I had a crippling injury that might take a month to heal I was not happy in the least and now I was half as effective with my baseball bat. 
    My situation wasn't looking good but I had to keep killing zombies before the plague took me so I dug out what food I had and found some jerky and beef sticks which I devoured and then I grabbed my biggest steak knife and went back out. My next encounter was perfect a lone zombie and a walker too I quickly dispatched it and went apartment by apartment killing zombies with my knife which proved far easier than looking for them in the lobby and safer as they were usually alone. I quickly racked up twenty five zombie kills in a few hours and started getting tired so I headed home to rest and recuperate my energy.
     For 5 days I continued killing zombies at about the same pace racking up an impressive 124 zombie kills in melee combat and I decided to check the wiki and see how many I'd need to kill to be guaranteed to get a super power and found a whole list of complaints and comments saying that it was a scammer and a prank etc and I just sat there stunned like a fish out of water. I had been scammed why who would come up with a scam to make people risk their lives to kill zombies I was so frustrated that I threw my keyboard and smashed the monitor and then I put on my zombie killing suit and went to go kill some zombies to take out my rage and frustration.
     By the end of that day I had added 41 zombies to my kill count now at 175 zombie kills and I spent that night curled into a ball crying from exhaustion and rage I was going to kill every single zombie I found and I didn't care how many that was I had run out of food and even the neighbors had been wiped out it was time to go to the store and I just knew it would be zombie central. I woke up the next day and I hurt everywhere and was lethargic and then I knew I had contracted the disease and I wouldn't have to worry about food again I'd probably become a zombie so I made myself a proper last meal and lay down on the couch as I ate it eating mechanically I knew that I would be changing in a couple hours and I didn't care anymore though I did unlock my door and open it before I crawled into bed to await my fate. 
     I passed out at some point and woke up totally disoriented and tired but completely aware could I have survived the infection and become a mundane or hope against hope become a special human gifted with powerful abilities. I stumbled my way to the bathroom feeling stronger with every step and flicked on the bathroom lights and turned to the mirror and screamed. I had transcended my base humanity I had gained something unlike anything else that I'd ever had or been.

Humanity stands on the brink first a computer virus kills most of technology and then a bio weapon plague kills 80% of humanity the survivors are changed and then enters our mc will he survive and become strong enough to face the horrors of the new world?

The second pigeon arrived the next day. By that time Victor had alerted the Board of Directors about the message they got. As much as Eve was glad to hear that Celina and Xia were alright, she was just as alarmed as everyone else to hear about Chainsaws Base's destruction.
That alarm had nothing on the surge of emotion Eve experienced after reading a (very compressed) description of the encounter with the robot-like creature. Disbelief, anxiety, fear… There was only so much Eve could do to cling to her composure, and it was a good thing that Victor was there to hold her as Eve struggled to stand on her feet.
"It shouldn't be possible. Not with the speed the nanite cores developed in the wild. Not without some mad luck, some weird fluke…" Eve shook her head furiously. "Even the seventh level cores don't allow their host to replace their flesh with nanites completely!"
"Can this creature be something else entirely?" Victor asked, his hands bringing Eve closer to his chest.
"In theory? Of course. It might as well be an alien from Alpha Centaurus for all I know." Eve snorted, using snark to distract herself from the depths of terror her analysis and predictions were pushing her too. "But that's what Occam's razor[1] is for. This is the most probable option, Victor. This creature must be a zombie with a core's architecture so powerful, it replaced all its body with nanites that it can mould as it wants."
"And besides that, it can control other zombies, doesn't die from decapitation and can have many other unknown abilities," Victor voiced the rest of Eve's thoughts, his voice stone-stiff and cold. She knew he was worried too, but had much more experience in holding himself together.
"The worst option if it's also smart to boot. With an architecture like that, who knows how complicated its thought algorithms?"
"It's a threat either way. Even if the horde doesn't go into a direction of any bases right now, eventually it will stumble upon another one. We must prevent it. We must warn all other bases and prepare for a fight."
Eve nodded, closing her eyes. "If I can finish my project before it comes…"
It was easier said than done, but it would've been the best solution. With the zombie horde moving with the speed of its slowest member, Eve had weeks to finish her zombie anti-virus. It could've even been enough if she had a sudden epiphany, but those weren't simply lying around.
No, it was all blood, sweat, and hard work. Weeks wouldn't be enough. It could take months and more.
"If anyone can, it's you, Eve, and not just because no one else knows what you do. You are the most brilliant person I know." Victor kissed her hair. "But we must prepare for a fight anyway, whatever it takes."
"Whatever it takes," Eve echoed him, burrowing her face in Victor's chest. "We are too close to getting rid of the zombies to let them kill us all now."

The return of Celina and Xia was a single bright spot in a row of days grey with nervous wait and exhausting work. That was true, even if they looked barely better than Eve felt, and she felt like trying out the stimulating effects of cocaine.
She must've looked like she already overdosed on it, because Celina gasped at the sight of her. "Eve! God, you look so bad that I mistook you with a zombie for a moment!"
"If I'm a zombie that keeps working, then it doesn't matter."
"Did you get any messages from Kang while we drove there?" Xia asked, coming up to the two of them.
They exchanged brief hugs before Eve answered. "He wrote once, but let's not discuss it outside. Come. I'd better talk about it somewhere with soundproofing."
Half an hour later, they sat in Eve and Victor's apartment. Celina and Xia were still dusty from the road, but too eager to hear what Eve had to say. Victor had come too. He, too, was told about Celina and Xia's arrival, but only now had time to greet them.
"It's good to see you two again," he said to them, his expression so cold that it was hard to believe his words. Just like Eve, he had a gaunt look and deep shadows under his eyes, but what suffered the most was his mental state.
For Eve, it was the hardest thing to watch, especially with her offer still hanging in the air. If there was something that gave Victor the most stress, it was circumstances beyond his control—and a slowly approaching zombie horde was just that.
Eve put a hand on his thigh and was glad to see him giving her a warm glance in response, before the grim coldness settled on Victor's features again.
"Kang's message arrived four days ago. He wrote that the horde changed direction, and will arrive at Radiant Base in around twenty more days."
Celina sucked in a sharp breath; Xia clenched her fists.
"So you two came just in time to help with the preparations. Xia, please, describe in detail everything about that silver zombie you shot."
Xia frowned in confusion. "A zombie?.. Wait, you mean that robot? It was actually a zombie?"
Eve nodded. "As far as I can assume."
"We should come up with a better nickname for it," Celina voiced out. "We can't just call it the silver zombie all the time, can we?"
Eve shrugged. It made little difference in her opinion, but… "It would be more convenient, true."
"Then how about…"
"Refrain from movie references, Ellin," Victor cut in.
Celina's mouth closed with an audible click of her teeth. "Alright. Sure, Vic. No references. Uh… Then…"
"Let's call it Nexus," Eve cut in before Celina brought out even more of Victor's frustrations. "It's the centre of the horde, after all."
"Sure, Sister," Xia shrugged. "I've seen worse code names."
Celina nodded energetically. "Sounds great, Eve! And it's not a reference to anything, is it?"
Eve snorted. "Not as far as I know."
"Nexus it is," Victor said his final approval and turned his piercing eyes to Xia. "Now tell us about it."
The retelling of Xia's attempt on Nexus's parody of life brought nothing absolutely new, but there still was enough food for Eve's thought.
"Let's sort out what we know about Nexus's possibilities. First, it can regenerate, and fast. Second, it can survive without his head attached to his body, though it's unclear for how long. This, and it's body can move when detached from its head, which would be impossible for any other zombie."
As Eve talked, Celina brought a piece of paper and a pen, and now was writing down Eve's thoughts in a demonstrative diagram. Seeing this, Eve paused, letting her catch up with her words.
"There are two ways this can be: first, since Nexus's body comprises only nanites at least on surface level, it's possible it moved its core from head to some less vulnerable body part. It's even possible that it can move it inside of its body, making it even harder to detect and separate."
"If we were closer to it, we could've detected it from its aura," Xia voiced, frowning deeper. "All I could see that Nexus's general body structure was like that of a human. Not simply in shape, but in how…" She paused, grasping for words, but ending up chewing on her lip. "I don't even know how to explain it."
"She means that even though Nexus's body was made from more solid material than a human one, it was build in a way that imitated it, according to her visual analysis," Victor said.
Xia nodded. "Yes, exactly!" then, apparently, she caught upon that he didn't just guessed her thoughts, but read it, because her enthusiasm waned—but she said nothing more. Neither did Victor.
"This is good. It can mean that Nexus doesn't know how to make other shapes out of its body than the one it replaced. That reduces its potential flexibility to a… sensible amounts. But that brings me to a second possibility. If Nexus's core IS in its head, then it must have some sort of remote connection to its nanites."
Eve paused and pursed her lips after saying that. This kind of technology sounded like a dream for someone like her. Judging by the fact that Nexus could move its hands swiftly and precisely while decapitated…
"It's unclear how fast that connection is or its range, or even if it's really exists, but if it does… Then it must be at least quick enough, that if I had it, I'd be able to copy information from cores under level three while just passing their owners by. AT LEAST this fast."
Celina whistled. "That's not your usual Wi-Fi!"
Eve gave her a grim nod in response. Victor was as still as a statue, with only his aura raging like a storm.
"And with the fact that it controls other zombies somehow… Most probably remotely… I'd say that Nexus does have his Wi-Fi," Eve concluded.
"I have only one question, Sister." Xia raised her eyes, brown like chestnut and hard like steel, to Eve's green ones. "How do we kill it?"

Eve was too shocked to think. She never expected for this standoff to end like it did. Victor kissed her as if he wanted to eat her. His bites stung, but his lips soothed. The heat of his hand burned her skin even through clothes.

Then Eve finally regained her sanity. She drove her knee into Victor’s groin. He gasped and bended in pain, letting Eve go. Before he could resist, she continued the combo with a strike to the back of his head and a submission hold on his arm.

“What are you doing?! I should’ve listened to Xia better. Men really are worse than dogs! How did I miss the moment when your brain had turned into mush, Victor?” 

“I didn’t think that I would need to spell it out, but there can be no romantic interactions in work time, and no romantic relations between researchers and test subjects. More than that, I’m not interested!”

Why didn’t you continue practicing as a Retribution Knight, but instead chose to be a Guardian Knight?”
Long Hao Chen replied without hesitation: “I hope to have the ability to protect everything I want to protect. After all, Father told me that the power of a single person was limited. When fighting against the demon race to protect our homeland, a Guardian Knight has a much more important role than a Retribution Knight.”

Nalan Shu triumphantly said: “Zombie face, did you get served yet? You did not believe me when I told you all of this yesterday, do you believe it now? With this little guy joining us, in the future, our Hao Yue Branch Hall will shine, and maybe its status will be promoted to that of Chief Hall. You will also be able to show those who scorned you how powerful your disciple is.”
Ye Hua simply ignored Nalan Shu’s showing off. He pondered for a moment and said: “Do you know how high the innate internal spiritual energy of this little kid is?”
Nalan Shu nodded and answered: “I don’t know. I tried to ask him, but he wasn’t willing to tell me. However, I tested his spiritual energy and it was at the 268th level. Thus, it looks like this little fellow’s innate internal spiritual energy cannot be lower than 40; it may be even higher. But why are you asking this? Didn’t you hate to deal with those with a high innate internal spiritual energy?”
Ye Hua’s ice-cold face suddenly took a somewhat unusual expression, “If the inborn could be changed, the current me wouldn’t be limited to the level of a mere Earth Knight. If my innate internal spiritual energy was 50, I would inevitably become a Divine Knight. “Hrnnng, what do you want,” Polly half groaned, half snarled. She had wrapped herself in a tight and thick blanket of burritos, yet she could still feel the sharp point of a beak jabbing at her. 

“Rise ‘n shine, a new day has dawned. Or more like it’s noon now,” cawed SAT who had clearly decided today was the day they tried out for the position of local rooster. 

Polly cracked an eye open though she very much did not want to. The sun’s sharp rays stabbed at her and she fought the urge to roll over and play dead like an opossum. 

“How many hours did I get to sleep?” asked Polly, hoping that she’d hear a number like eight or nine. If she heard a relatively high number she felt like she’d be able to placebo effect herself into feeling rested. 

“Six.” 

Six hours of sleep wasn’t half bad to Polly. It wasn’t how long she’d sleep for in a perfect world, but she’d had less on days she had to take important tests. However, it also wasn’t enough for her to make a last ditch attempt to convince herself that she was a well-rested, bright-eyed, full of vigor, and happy to be alive young girl ready to start her day off with a bang. 

“Arghhh.” 

“She changed species while we were away,” muttered Wiki to SAT. “She’s a zombie now.” 

“Unlike that lump, zombies move.” 

Polly felt another sharp jab to her leg. 

“I’m moving, I’m moving,” wheezed Polly as she began to slowly crawl out of her cocoon of blankets. 

“Sure ya are. Ed stopped by here for a short nap and is already back with Mr. Croix, if you were wondering. Turns out they get along swimmingly so we were worried for nothin’,” said SAT. 

“Good for them. So then why do we need to be there?” 

“Ed cooks, not advertises, which you’re supposed to be in charge of.” 

“Ah, you’re right. Guess I’m not fully awake yet.” 

“Anyone with half a brain could’ve figured that out. Also what happened to you moving?” 

Polly had paused her attempt to leave her bundle of warmth and had hoped the kiwis wouldn’t notice. Unfortunately for her, both kiwis had eyes and those eyes… could see. 

Wiki looked at SAT. SAT looked at Wiki. Polly looked nervous. 

“So it’s come to this,” sighed Wiki grimly. 

The two kiwis hopped over Polly who was still lying down, they had been standing in front of her, and landed right behind her. With no warning at all, they rolled her off the beanbag bed and toward the door, pushing with their beaks. 

“ Aaaaa, I’m moving for real, you guys can stop,” cried Polly as she began rapidly wiggling herself out of her man-made sushi roll. 

“That went better than expected.” 

“Sure did. Look at the fledge go.” 

After Polly had hurriedly combed and tied up her tragically tangled brown hair so she didn’t look like she had just spent three years in the wilderness, the three were out the door to finally meet up with Croix and Ed. 

“So Mr. Croix finally has a sellable product?” questioned Polly as they walked. 

“According to Ed he’s almost there, and that was while you were asleep. I think his goods should be ready for sale soon,” replied Wiki. 

“Ah, I see, I see.” 

When the trio arrived at Croix’s place, the first thing that hit them was the pleasant aroma of a grilled cheese grilling. 

“Looks like they’ve been hard at work,” noted Polly. 

The kiwis nodded, and the three entered. 

Polly wasn’t prepared to see sky-high mountains of grilled cheese sandwiches stacked on every surface that wasn’t the floor, but there they were in all their towering glory. 

“I thought you said Ed would eat all the practice sandwiches.” Polly turned to the birds, concern beginning to dawn on her face. “Unless those aren’t practice sandwiches…” 

 

“Polly, it’s a pleasure to see ya again,” beamed Croix, emerging from the kitchen. Ed followed closely behind. “Have a sandwich.” 

All the bad memories returned to Polly at once as she picked up the sandwich nearest to her and stared at it. Just like before, it looked picture perfect. Polly sniffed it, which she hadn’t done the first time she tried one of Croix’s sandwiches and didn’t notice anything off about it. 

“Is it that you lack faith in my teaching capabilities?” questioned Ed as Polly eyed the sandwich from every angle possible. “Fear not for I have taught the man well.” 

Polly temporarily left the dimension to go 4D for one last look at the sandwich to make sure she hadn’t missed anything for she would spare no effort in being cautious this time around. Her taste buds deserved that much at least. 

Fortunately, it turned out doubting Ed was a mistake and she hadn’t needed to be so wary after all. The bird truly knew her stuff, teaching included, for what Polly ate could only be described as perfection. There was just the right amount of crispiness to the grilled cheese’s toast to give it a delightful crunch, the cheese stretched for days, and somehow to top things off, the sandwich was still warm. 

“Wow.” 

Ed looked unbelievably smug, though Polly wasn’t sure how a bird could make the facial expression Ed was making at the moment considering beaks aren’t as expressive as mouths. Croix wore a triumphant grin, and he and Ed exchanged a hi-five. 

“I’m plannin’ on trying to get the word out tomorrow,” said Croix. “So what was the free sample thing you mentioned earlier?” 

“Ah yes, free samples. Well, uh, where I’m from there were some salespeople who would offer a bit of their goods, a sample, for free and try to use those to lure customers to their shops. If the people who tried the free stuff liked them, then they would stop by the shop and see if they could get more. Maybe we could cut these sandwiches into small pieces and walk around the island advertising them?” 

Croix looked at Polly and his eyes narrowed into croissant-like crescents. He opened and closed his mouth as if there were words on the tip of his tongue but they wouldn’t leave. He frowned and began to speak, albeit hesitantly. 

“I… I hate to be the one to say this to you lass, ‘specially since you’ve been nothin’ but a help to me, but I’m thinkin’ you might want to freshen up before you go back out on the streets.” 

Polly froze mid bite. Croix was right. The last time she had a proper hot shower was the day before the boat auction and between now and then she had sweat buckets on a forest escapade, gotten soaked in the salty waters after falling victim to a lightning storm and some fish, and had wandered around quite a bit on this island. 

In other words she stank. Stank to high heaven and back. Stank badly enough to where she could reverse the effects of an air freshener by simply being within a 20 mile radius of it. Stank so horribly she was honestly in awe and completely mortified that no one had called her out on it until now. 

The now woefully self-conscious lass turned to the kiwis who had been accompanying her. 

“Why didn’t you guys say anything? What happened to birds having a good sense of smell?” asked Polly with eyes that screamed hurt and betrayed. 

None of the birds would meet her eyes. 

“In their defense they must have gotten used to it,” offered Fethar in the kindest tone Polly had heard from it yet. “I’d like to suggest olfactory fatigue as the cause, that being the common inability to distinguish a certain smell after being exposed to it for a prolonged period of time. It is but an example of sensory adaptation.” 

“Right,” replied Polly who wanted no less than to dig herself a nice deep hole to spend the rest of her living days in. “No need to hold back, how bad is it?” 

It appeared as if the three birds had suddenly forgotten Mimglish and there was an issue in the kitchen calling for Croix to attend to. 

“I’ll just be heading back to the motel then,” sighed Polly. As she began the lonely trek back, the birds had opted to stick together with Croix in the restaurant, Polly took a whiff of her hair. It wasn’t awful, just pretty bad, so she decided to be bold and smell her shirt. She felt instant regret. 

Polly looked down at her shirt, a loose white garment, and was stunned to see it wasn’t completely black with unidentified substances growing out of it; it smelled that bad. She had the sudden thought that maybe, just maybe, she ought to expand her wardrobe. It wasn’t like she lacked the funds for it, as long as items of clothing weren’t priced a castle a piece. 

When she re-entered Melonpan, she was relieved to see not a soul besides the sweet lady who hadn’t judged her for a second when she first booked a room. Polly wondered if it was because the lady was simply kind or her sense of smell wasn’t very good. Either way, Polly was just glad she wasn’t getting a weird look as she shuffled to her quarters. 

It has been said before, and it will probably be said again, but Polly has never been one to think far ahead into the future. Only after Polly had turned on the shower and was ready to become the cleanest pirate that ever sailed the high seas did she come to the realization that even if she freshened up, her one set of clothes would still be dirty. 

And so despite not wanting to re-enter society smelling like a racoon that had just had the time of its life partying in a garbage dump, Polly was left with no choice but to return to The Capital and hunt down a shop that would be willing to sell clothes to a short and greasy grouch who smelled like a troll that had just finished its monthly spa session in a sewer. 

While passing by shops, Polly began to think back on everyone she had encountered. It was no wonder the staff member in front of the fancy schmancy restaurant had stared at her and her party with an upturned nose. Why she would’ve done the exact same! 

 How her stench had not driven out the other customers in 'Not Half Bad Food' was nothing short of a miracle and how the restaurant owner had graciously tolerated her was even more so of one. Still, that didn’t stop Polly from wanting to head over to make a formal apology as soon as she was presentable. 

Normally Polly wouldn’t have been one to care for such trivial things, but there was a fine line between being a free spirit and being a nuisance to society. Polly liked to consider herself the former and did everything in her power to avoid being the second. 

Her search led her to a hole-in-the-wall sort of shop. The shop’s exterior was pure wall save for its door, and it had no name as far as she could tell --- its only identifying feature being a wooden sign with a shirt crudely painted on it --- which was a stark contrast compared to the other clothing shops she had walked past that had their names written in curling scripts and showed off their clothes in large glass windows. Figuring that there probably weren’t many people in there, Polly ventured in. 

Inside, upbeat jazzy music played and the various garments sold were hung on the walls and placed on haphazardly arranged tables. Polly felt like she had walked in before the shop was ready to open. Just as she had hoped, the store was basically empty save for two employees who were chatting behind the cashier desk. They didn’t notice her entry, which was fine by her. 

Polly scanned the clothes, which were all in a totally different style from her current outfit. For the longest time she had been wearing a baggy white shirt made of linen that boasted long, billowy sleeves and brown trousers with pockets of varying sizes running up and down the side of each leg. 

Surrounding her were foreign clothes that she had never seen before on her home island. One of the tags on an item read 'raincoat' and another read 'wool rollneck sweater'. 

Knowing she had no choice if she didn’t want to waste her money on clothes that wouldn’t work for her, Polly allowed her last remaining shred of dignity to wither away and made her way to the two employees. 

“Hi,” said Polly, hoping her bright smile would release rays powerful enough to burn away the employees’ sense of smell. “I’m, uh, a traveling seafarer and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions clothes-wise. I’ve kinda never heard of most of this stuff before.” 

One of the two, a toned and tanned blonde lady appeared to take Polly’s words rather personally. 

“You’ve neva heard of these? None of ‘em?” she gasped. 

“I haven’t,” replied Polly who at this point was just waiting for a shovel to fall from the sky so she could start digging her hole. 

“Oh my dear,” gasped the lady. She looked to her partner, an equally as muscular and sun-kissed lady except with chestnut brown hair, with wide eyes and a hand over her mouth. Polly took a glance at the name badges and noted to herself the blonde one’s name was Yellow and the brunette’s name was Brown. 

“My dear you’ve come to the right place,” said Yellow. 

She grabbed Polly by the arm and began a full tour of the entire shop, starting from the entrance. Yellow took the time to explain the history and use of every single item of clothing offered, and though Polly knew Yellow meant well, the lass was struggling to keep up. 

“Slow down,” Brown chided Yellow. “Sorry ‘bout that dear, it’s just that we haven’t had many customers lately, let alone one who’s not from ‘round ‘ere.” 

“It’s no problem at all. This info is actually pretty helpful and it’d be quite the spice if we had these kinds of things back on Sea Island 7. They’ve got both form and function.” 

Brown’s tense posture loosened at Polly’s words. In all honesty Polly was just glad to be treated regularly, and she had come to the conclusion that perhaps all the residents of Sea-Island 6 were kind and non-judgemental. The Sea Island 7 residents could learn a thing or two from them. 

Polly ended up walking out the store with a vibrant orange sailing jacket, a navy blue lightweight raincoat, a few t-shirts, a few pairs of trousers --- some of them waterproof---, and other necessary garments. The ladies had been so thrilled by Polly that they ended up giving her a hefty discount, which is what allowed her to walk away with so many goods in the first place. Polly had insisted she paid full price because though she loved cheap stuff as much as the next cheapskate, she felt bad knowing they didn’t get much business. However, they had simply smiled and insisted she visit again. Of course, Polly assured them she would. 

When Polly at last emerged from her steaming shower hot enough to serve as Satan’s sauna, she felt like Venus rising from the sea on a shell in all her magnificent glory. Why she had just about forgotten how good it felt to be grime free, and oh boy had she missed it.

"Who rained on your parade?" went Polly.

"I shouldn't bother such a pleasant person as you with my tale," sighed the pirate. He cast a forlorn gaze towards the sea and it really would have been quite an aesthetic moment for a picture taker.

"Oh, well then, um, sea you later?" replied Polly who began turning away.

"Alas, it was just this morning when I was a younger man and had not a clue what evils would befall me," started the pirate.

Coincidentally there was a bench which Polly sat herself down on and a stage which the pirate leaped onto.

This story belongs more in the genre of fantasy adventure comedy than fantasy romance, but since this is the closest genre I could find on WN, it's what I'm going with. Also, I would like to emphasize that fact that this story is lighthearted and episodic in nature so don't expect much drama!!

With all this information Jake was pretty overwhelmed. He then asked wiki to explain the skills and their applications to him. With excitement in its voice wiki explained in detail how his abilities worked but what Jake was most interested in was getting out of the damn hole.

Jake takes in a deep breath and activates his [shape shift] skill growing tentacles which he uses to pull himself out of the hole. 

Getting at the top one could see him for the creature he was now. Obsidian black skin which looked very rough, he was roughly oval in shape like some kinda wet clay statue it seemed like his body was.... shifting constantly. With two tentacles sprouting from his sides and a faint white crack spreading vertically across his body which seemed to be his mouth.

After getting to the top Jake realize he couldn't see anything. Which made him realize he had no eyes.

"What the hell wiki. I can't see anything"Jake said mildly annoyed

"Your a mimic dumbass. Use your mana sense and 3d hearing" wiki retorted

"Wait.... Am a what?!???" Jake screamed as he checked his status window

"I won't be screaming in a dungeon if I were you" wiki said as if Jake's previous statement didn't even register.

"Why the hell am I a mimic? Like I don't understand" Jake said in a quieter but angrier voice.

"The hell should I know. Bring it up to God when u die again. Until then do you mind surviving first?" Wiki said calmly.

Jake feeling like he is fighting a lossing battle replied "Ok I understand"

And with that he activates his [3d hearing] and [mana sense].
The combination of the two skills gave him 360 vision even though is was strange at first because he "saw" things in different shades according to their mana signature.
The super hearing granted by his [3d hearing] was unbearable at first because he could sense all the sound around him perfectly within a 20 meter radius, but after a couple of minutes stumbling in the dungeon he finally gots his bearings.

"Ok.... That was trippy... literally. And what is that sound?" Jake asked

"Probably a slime feeding on a carcass" wiki replied

This got Jake curious and he headed towards the direction of the sound. And then he spotted it. It was a slime, it was about a meter across and jelly-like it also seemed a little.... strange. It seemed to be collapsing in on itself and expanding outward simultaneously. So Jake being slightly freaked out asked wiki what was going on.

"The actual hell"

wiki responded " oh it's just evolving into a higher form. With that mana signature I think it's going to have an affinity for poison"

Jake not knowing how to respond to this replied ".....cool?"

"not really it's going to be much hard to kill so I recommend attacking it right now" wiki said

"ok here we go" with does words Jake dashes forward, opening his gapping mouth taking a huge bite out of the slime. he then see the following notifications flash before his eyes
{poison slime has been defeated}
{you have earned 20xp}

{you have leveled up. All stats have been raised by 1 and you have 5 extra stat points}
{you have been poisoned. you will now lose 2Hp per second for 40 seconds}

Jake started feel pain in his mouth. It felt like he tried to drink boiling oil. He then started asking wiki for help.

'wiki what the hell!!! How do I cure the poison?!?!' Jake screamed internally

"wow you already realized you can speak to me with thoughts only. Guess your not as dumbass I thought" said wiki with a smirk in its voice

'just shut up and help me asshole!!' Jake retorted getting angrier.

"I can't" wiki replied simply

'so what am I supposed to do?!?!'

"wait it out. it's not like it's an insta-kill hell you might even get a cool skill out of this"

                    *20 SECONDS LATER*
New messages were displayed before Jake

{Effects of the poison have been weaken due to [poison resistance]}

After 20 more seconds of pacing Jake checks his status window.

Jake then tries to calm down. Then he asks wiki

'can you explain the conditions of hardcore mode?' 

"with pleasure" wiki replied displaying the conditions on the holographic screen.

-you can encounter Inbetween 2-4 elites on a single floor
-All bosses are champions
 

Pros: 
-Elites give 50% more xp
- Bosses drop rare -->legendary items a 100% of the time

Jake looked at the screen for a while realising this is his life now. There is no going back now all he can do is hope he is actually good at this game. 

After spacing out for a while, he places 3 stat points into agility and 2 into strength.

"I thought you would as me to choose which stat to raise for u?" wiki asked.

'I'm the one playing the game. So I think I should start getting accustomed to the system on my own don't you think?' Jake said with a smirk.

"Hmm... ok Jake your the man incharge. Just tell me if you need anything"

After the brief conversation Jake activates his [shape shift] skill once more and grows 4 more tentacles which he uses to get around the dungeon.

"Let's see what I can do"

Type: Weapon ÄRMs, Cross Pendant
It's an original ÄRMs of Shiki directly inspired by the 'Cross of Scaffold' of Kugō Ginjō (Bleach). It look like a simple Fleur de Lys like silver Cross when non active. It's activated form is a large completely silver Claymore. The blade is a long, very wide, double-edged form of a longsword. The crossguard consists of a small red gem at the center and two straight ornate arms ending in simplistic version of a fleur-de-lis. The sword's handle runs through its guard, continuing on through a hollow space at the base of its blade. The handle is almost the same length of the blade itself. It possess the power of energy manipulation making it able to form an energy blade around the physical one to increase the range of attack or send flying slash of energy.

~ Antidote Tonic ~
Type: Holy ÄRMs, Pendant ÄRMs
On the end of the pendant there is a cross shaped brooch (Fleur de lys). When activated it is capable of curing poisons. It can be used to cure both poisons effecting the user and other people. It is strong enough to cure the poison produced by mystical creature such as an Hydra or the Guardian ÄRMs Tiamat.

~ Broom of Zephyrus ~
Type: Weapon ÄRMs, Ring ÄRMs
Also called Zephiros Broom and Zephiroth Broom. When active It takes the form of a besom with adorned handle. Shiki uses it to fly and shape his particular element - wind. It can create anything from a breezing blow of wind to multiple raging tornadoes or a sharp cut that can behead the target, it can also extend is handle to attack without killing far away enemy's.

~ Andata ~
Type: Dimension ÄRMs, Ring ÄRMs
It's form is a ring which has a circle set on top of it with what looks like a shutter inside of it. The ability that belongs to this ÄRM is the power over teleportation. The teleportation is activated through a verbal command given by the user. The command has include both the destination and who is going to be teleported. To be able to teleport to a destination it has to have already been programmed into the ring. For a location to be programmed into the ring the owner has to have been to the location before. Another person may use someone else's ring to teleport a location that they have never been before as long as the previous owner programmed it into the ring. When telelporting with this Dimension ÄRM the user always has to be included in the teleportation when using it on other people. The name is Italian for 'outward voyage'.

~ Zipper ~
Type: Dimensional ÄRMs, Ring ÄRMs
While unactivated it is a skull ring. When the ÄRM becomes invoked it becomes a giant zipper that just hangs in space. Its ability is that it allows the user to store his ÄRMs in an extra-dimensional space for storage. So when activated the user can unzip it and reach inside and grab whatever was previously stored. The main advantage of it is that it can be used in battle for a fast change of ÄRMs.

~ Ring Armor ~

Normally a common ring Guardian ÄRMs which becomes a living suit of armor, Shiki modified it to adapt it's power to it's target. It's a perfect tools for training or testing someone strength and energy. It's base form is a ring with a small knight helmet visor.

~ Toto ~
Type: Sentient Guardian ÄRMs, Chain ÄRMs
Toto is the name of a Rain Dog, a giant three-tailed dog Guardian ÄRM, previously owned by the Witch Dorothy. It can eat absolutely anything, varies from normal foods, metals, and Weapon (ÄRMs, Sacred Gear, Magical weapon or Blood/soul bonded weapon) to enemy's projectiles, spell, Guardian ÄRMs or other creature (even the seemingly inedible) and their user. Although sentient and extremely powerful, Toto is afraid of the Witch Dorothy's and Shiki's wrath since he knows that without them he wouldn't have "good food" to eat (powerful ÄRMs or other weapon, item and creature). He is one of the Witch Dorothy original ÄRMs.

~ Crucified Scarecrow ~
Type: Guardian ÄRMs, Earrings ÄRMs
Another of the Witch Dorothy's original Guardian ÄRMs, originally a brooch (For Dorothy) Shiki transformed it into a small earring who look like wheat. This ÄRM creates a large scarecrow which can paralyze with its gaze and, after turning its rag hat into a drill, will become a Guardian of high attack/defense capacity.

~ Crazy Quilt: Dollrothy ~
Type: Guardian ÄRMs / Patched Ring
A female puppet that wears dirty clothes and has a single needle at the place of legs. It can generate ultra-loud sounds in the form of a song or scream, able to render opponents and anyone in the immediate vicinity senseless, however ineffective towards adversaries of a superior level magical energy to Shiki. Quilt has its own will, and obey Shiki simply because he named her Dollrothy (At first only for mocking the Witch Dorothy, who's power are inspired by the Wizard of Oz). She is one of the Witch Dorothy's original ÄRMs, a patched ring.

This ÄRMs summons a naked demon woman with her back attached inside the maw of Dragon skeleton, she possess no attack power but has a powerful defense, it's defence is relative to the amount of Magical Energy Shiki possess.

Shiki Nanaya, a reincarnated individual without power dropped in an alternative world where people of the Moonlit World use magecraft and magical item, saw a mysterious Japanese style house which seemed to exist only in his eye, intrigued by it he choose to enter it.

After entering it he was guided by two girl introducing themselves as Maru and Moro who guided him to a woman who introduced herself as the 'Dimensional Witch' who explained she was waiting for him as a favor for someone, giving the knowledge of Ärm creation as well has the power of Dimensional Travel saying the price was half paid for these but he needed to go search for some special materials and object in other dimensions for her in order to pay the rest of it. 

Now armed with knowledge of a power with infinite possibilities and a special power he will live is life however he want while collecting what the witch tasked him to.
