this is a collection of some of my poems. some of the poems are about love, life, unrequited love, sorrow, loneliness, and more. I hope you can enjoy of my collection of poems and I hope I can transmit the emotions that the poems are supposed to give.

Yes this is a book full of poems.

A book of poems that I made for fun. Each poem is different so if you dislike one then just know there are many different types. The newest poems are better then the older poems.

Synopsis: One day, Zhang Ye was just another normal person like anyone else. The next, he opened his eyes to realise he had transmigrated into a parallel world. This world, although similar to his own, was not as developed as his culturally. They didn't have the same songs, the same poems, the same dramas or the same books. As such, with the advanced knowledge he possessed, together with the system he had, he decided he would start his life anew. This time around, he would become a superstar. 
Personal Comments: This story is extremely rich culturally. The translator also did a stunning job in trying to ensure that the message was not lost in translation. It gives some brilliant insight into Chinese culture - their songs, their poems, their history. A recommendation for those who wish to learn fun facts about China in a fun way. The face-slapping in this book is also done in a humorous way. The main character, while protected with plot armour nonetheless still gets into trouble beyond him sometimes. I love the way the author managed to give tidbits of information about almost every entertainment industry and give us insights into Chinese tastes which would be hard to find out ourselves through English search engines like Google. Moreover, the author does not only mindlessly boast of Chinese culture, there are also certain portions where the author criticises the country.

A list of recommendations of great books to read. There will be a mixture of books ranging from fantasy, science fiction, romance, modern day, system, cultivation. Books with males and female leads will be included. 

Note that not all books recommended would be completed. Some might have even been placed on hiatus. 

Books that are not included would be books where the MC is more brawn than brains, goes picking up fights left and right, has a plot armour so thick that its ridiculous, and picks up pretty girls in every arc ending up with a ridiculous harem that doesn't even fight each other and exists harmoniously.

Following the system’s notifications, Xu Que felt an immense amount of knowledge on poetry within his head. In the blink of an eye, he had assimilated all these information.
Poem competition? Who’s afraid?
Xu Que smiled widely as he took a huge sip of tea before wiping his lips. He then spoke, "As the scholarly saying goes, ‘To not reciprocate in kind, is to go against etiquette.’ Since young master Mo gave me some words, I shall return some words to you in the form of a poem!"
The crowd paused in shock. A poem?
Young master Mo was teaching you a lesson and it’s your honor to be taught by someone like him. How dare you speak of returning some words to him? Are you crazy?
Young master Mo’s title of Poem King isn’t being modest at all. You are just a mere nameless student, and you dare to talk big in front of him!
The crowd broke out in insults as they started throwing harsh words at Xu Que.
A student was shaking his head as he laughed out loudly, "Young master Mo could read at age three, could write at five years of age. When he was ten, he started composing poems. Even the Fire Emperor called him the Poem King. How dare you belittle his reputation and talk back in defiance. You even mentioned something about returning words to him? You’re really overestimating yourself!"
"Is that so? What’re you going to do about it?"
Xu Que laughed out before he continued, "When I was three years old, I was composing poems about rivers and history. When I was five, I was writing poems so long that they resembled seas. When I was ten, the subject of my writings were no longer limited and I was writing about everything under the sun, including grass, rocks, trees. I was dubbed the Poem Deity. My nickname was Dugu Qiu Bai, a loner begging for failure!"

"..." The entire scene fell into absolute silence!
Some of them looked at Xu Que incredulously, speechless to whatever he had just said.
Of course, they had met people who could boast and yet nobody could come close to Xu Que, who could boast about owning the heavens!
Poem Deity? A loner begging for failure? Why don’t you just call yourself God then?
Tang Liu Feng had a bitter expression of his face as he clutched his forehead, as though he was seated on a matt filled with needles. He too, felt that Xu Que had gone overboard with his bragging.
If he could really write poems so well since a young age, then why hasn’t anyone heard of his name?
When Mo Yun Shang heard Xu Que’s words, he couldn’t help but smile and shake his head. He then looked at Xu Que mockingly, "Since brother Li decided to return a poem to me, fine. I shall prick an ear and listen attentively to what he has to say!"
As soon as he said this, the entire crowd cheered and started praising him.
"Indeed, young master Mo is an exemplary student with his poise and elegance!"
"This is a true role model for everyone on how to handle an arrogant student!"
 
At this point, Madam Ya’s eyes were gleaming as she found a place for herself to sit. Her eyes were still focused on Xu Que.
In actual fact, she couldn’t stand any longer, for she was completely drained of energy.
As the sister of Fire Emperor, Madam Ya has a secret that nobody knows about. She highly regards and even revere students with exceptional talents. Everytime she sees someone reciting a good poem, her emotions would go out of control. This will manifest in her body as her legs will go weak. She will also turn extremely red in the face.
Today, she had met Li Bai, who was unheard of before this event, who possessed extraordinary talents in intelligence and guile. Against Bright Saints College’s Poem King, young master Mo, the both of them are an equal match for each other. Watching them go against each other head on caused Madam Ya to lose control of her own emotions. Even before they had started, her legs started to tremble.
Xu Que had also noticed Madam Ya’s blazing gaze upon his body as was startled. Fuck me, why is this lady so scary? It looks as though she’s about to swallow me whole. It’s too distracting!
However, under the watchful eyes of everyone, Xu Que didn’t dare to read too much into this now. He focused all his attention away from those thoughts.
He directed his gaze towards Mo Yun Shan, "Young master Mo, you mentioned something about haughtiness inviting failure and modesty welcomes wisdom. You were scolding me for being haughty and arrogant huh? Although your words are correct, you cannot use this on just anyone!"

"For example, me. I used to be extremely modest. Someone told me that my poem writing skills were fantastic, but I insisted that they were only average. As soon as I said those words, that man slapped my face on the spot for being hypocritical. Hence, I turned over a new leaf and stopped making the mistake of being too modest ever again."
"..." When everyone heard this, their lips twitched violently, unsure of how to react to this.
Anyone who dared to speak such words were clearly shameless beyond measure and had reached the pinnacle of being a braggart. To someone like this, everyone would often have no words in reply.
"Outrageous! Vulgar kid trying to appease the crowd!" At this, the expressionless young master Zhao burst out in anger after he cleared his throat.
Everyone turned their heads to look at him before looking back at Xu Que. They were smiling, elated in his downfall.
Li Bai, Li Bai. You’re doomed. You even managed to annoy the leader of the four great students. Let’s see how you can remain arrogant!
Tang Liu Feng was so afraid that his face had turned as white as sheet. He then nudged Xu Que to remind him, "Brother… Brother Li, even young master Zhao has spoken out. Maybe you should stop here!
"Why should I?" Xu Que didn’t care one bit.
"He… He’s the leader of the four great students. A few days later, when the Flaming Sun Princess chooses her Prince Consort, he would be the number one candidate. We must be careful not to offend him!"
"Prince Consort?" Hearing these words, Xu Que was enraged further but suppressed it white a cold smile, "He will never become the Prince Consort!"
"But..." Tang Liu Feng was at a loss for words as well. He realized that no matter what he said, he was never going to convince Xu Que to stop and thus decided to remain silent.
Right at this point, Mo Yun Shang revealed a look of impatience as if he had overestimated this Li Bai. He then stood up, disinterested, as he spoke out, "Li Bai, where’s the poem you promised?"
"Oh, I almost forgot. Young master Mo. Listen up. This poem will be extremely educational for you!"
Xu Que placed the tea cup down and took out his fan. He then looked into the distance and put on a pretentious look.
The audience had ignored his boasts as they fixed their gazes upon him, waiting for him to make a fool of himself!
Madam Ya was taking deep breaths, her eyes were filled in eager anticipation.
After Xu Que had posed like a scholarly student for several moments, he finally opened his mouth and recited, "Three feet from the ground rests a gutter, water flows through it every single day regardless of seasons."

The crowd were shocked when they heard this. Was this a poem about nature? How would there any educational element in this poem?
Right at this point, there was a loud smack as Xu Que closed the fan within his palms and completed the poem, "Neither cows nor goats will eat the grass around. But Yun Shan will wash his head in the ditch!"

"Huh?"
When the crowd heard this, they frowned, unable to understand the poem.
Wasn’t this a normal poem about nature and scenery?
Ai, that can’t be. Yun Shan will wash his head? Isn’t Yun Shan young master Mo’s name?
This poem isn’t that simple!
"Three feet from the ground is a ditch, water flows through it every single day? Three feet from the ground, why would there be a ditch? That’s strange…" Tang Liu Feng was repeating Xu Que’s poem as he sipped his tea, clearly deep in thought.
Seeing everyone deep in thought, Xu Que was extremely calm as he returned to the dessert on his table.
Actually, this poem wasn’t a Tang dynasty poem at all. In fact, it’s an internet humorous poem that has been making its rounds. Or rather, it was a dirty poem!
‘Three feet from the ground is a ditch’ was referring to a part of women that mustn’t be described. As for ‘Yun Shan washing his head’, it referred to young master Mo as a penis!
Xu Que didn’t feel that this was inappropriate at all. Since you scolded me for being arrogant, I can scold you back too. Returning politeness with politeness, there was nothing wrong!


I am the best when it comes to taking divergent paths. With just a flip of my hand, I shall take the path less commonly travelled. I search far and wide, only to find myself unbeatable and unrivaled. So now I ask, who else can match my awesomeness? 

Acting tough is second nature to me and I am a lone wolf.
 
The road is long and winding but I shan’t feel lonely as long as I am able to act tough!


Life and death bore me and I do whatever I deem fit.

“Young man, way back when I started acting tough, you were still learning how to put on your underpants!” Xu Que thus decided to take the path of acting tough. He decided to act tough every single god-damned day. If he wasn’t acting tough, he was scheming for the best way to act tough!  

Silence!

Not a single person spoke!

Zhang Ye was not at all surprised to see them speechless.

Li Honglian was already at a loss of words, "You...That poem..."

Zhao Guozhou could not understand Russian, "Old Li, translate it. How's the poem?"

Li Honglian cleared her throat with a cough, "That, I...I, too, did not understand it too well. *cough* I only understood a small portion."

Ah? Even you, as a person who studied Russian, did not understand it? A few of the interviewers nearly fell off their chairs!

"Prose poems are like that. Russian is also a bit harder to understand. Besides, Little Zhang said it pretty fast..." Li Honglian came up with an excuse.

Zhang Ye immediately said, "Then I'll translate it into Chinese and recite it once again."

Even after seeing Director Li being taken aback, a young interviewer was still unwilling to give up. He wanted to gain back some reputation for his Leader. As Chinese phrases were rich and contained all sorts of variations, it was different from Russian. Chinese was the only way to test a person's ability. I can't understand Russian? Then I can definitely make a fuss about the Chinese translation! I won’t let it rest if you misuse a single word! I will fail you! This person still remembered the secret intentions behind his Leader's words. So what if you know Russian? The poem needs to be good, too! You think that you can foolishly pass the test by saying some random Russian phrases? How can it be that easy!?

Everyone had different thoughts as they focused fully on the Chinese version of Zhang Ye's recitation!

Zhang Ye could read some of their minds just by looking at their eyes. He knew that they still thought lowly of him. With a sneer, his emotions were perfectly aligned with his recitation. "Up above the sea's grey flatland, wind is gathering the clouds. In between the sea and clouds proudly soars the Petrel, reminiscent of black lightning. Glancing a wave with his wingtip, like an arrow dashing skyward, he cries out and the clouds hear his joy in the bird's cry of courage. In this cry–thirst for the tempest! Wrathful power, flame of passion, certainty of being victorious the clouds hear in that bird's cry. Seagulls groan before the tempest, – groan, and race above the sea, and on its bottom they are ready to hide their fear of the storm..."

It was still calm in the beginning!

However as the poem reached its climax, Zhang Ye's tone became more pressing. His volume increased, "The wind howls . . . the thunder rolls . . . Like a blue flame, flocks of clouds blaze  above the sea's abyss. The sea catches bolts of lightning drowning them beneath its waves. Just like serpents made of fire, they weave in the water, fading, the reflections of this lightning–Tempest! Soon will strike the tempest! That is the courageous Petrel proudly soaring in the lightning over the sea's roar of fury; cries of victory the prophet..."

Why do difficulties always befall me?

Why is the world always this unfair?

But! So what if that was the case! So what if my body was shattered! This is the road I chose! I will not retreat! I have no fear!

Zhang Ye took a final breath and said loudly, "–Let the tempest come strike harder!"

The final stanza of the poem was engraved in the hearts of many in Zhang Ye's previous world. It boiled one's blood and, now throwing it into this world, it similarly injected itself into one's blood!

Zhao Guozhou turned dumbfounded hearing this!

Li Honglian also felt goosebumps!

The young interviewer who was thinking of finding fault with Zhang Ye's poem was now speechless. He did not even dare to breathe!

Silence!

Seeing everyone stunned by his poem, Zhang Ye felt discharged of his anger. His emotions escaped from the poem, allowing him to recover his calm. This society judged people by their looks and, over time, he had grown accustomed to it. As such, he did not have any scruples as long as he was selected, "Teachers, I have finished answering the second interview question!"

"Ah...Okay." Li Honglian's soul finally returned to her body. Previously, her thoughts had flown into the tempest together with that Petrel.

Zhao Guozhou said with a hoarse voice, "What's the name of this poem?"

Zhang Ye answered, "This poem's name is 'The Song of the Stormy Petrel'. In Russian, it also has the meaning of a person predicting the storm."

"What a good Petrel!" Zhao Guozhou may not understand Russian, but he could understand the Chinese perfectly. "A flying Petrel, a proud Petrel, a fearless Petrel. That is describing you, right? The power of poems is sometimes very miraculous. Young lad, you have given all of us a lesson today!"

"I don't dare to take that compliment." Zhang Ye said.

Everyone looked at Zhang Ye in a different light. Previously, reciting a thousand words off-script had shocked them greatly. Now, a casual recitation of a Russian prose poem that was at the level of a grandmaster had completely conquered the hearts of all the people present! His performance had also slapped all the interviewers in the face! Li Honglian had given this question to prevent Zhang Ye from passing the interview. It was clear that she was leading him into a trap, but she never expected him to give a perfect answer. And the answer even included Zhang Ye's anger and his unwillingness to accept the situation. It made them, as interviewers, ashamed!

From which stone did this sort of amazing person jump out from?

Li Honglian said with an expression that was hard to read, "That will be all for today. Go back and wait for the news."

Was he accepted or not? Zhang Ye was not sure either. He only said, "Alright. Thank you, Teachers."

He walked away and closed the door. Zhao Guozhou, who was all picky with Zhang Ye previously, immediately slammed the table, "My Literature Channel’s broadcast department wants this person!"

Li Honglian disapproved, "Old Zhao, didn't you say you were eyeing that little Xu?”

Zhao Guozhou turned indignant, "Little Xu can be given to anyone, but this person definitely cannot!"

"Are you even being reasonable?" Li Honglian began vying for Zhang Ye, "I'm having first dibs on Zhang Ye!"

"I was the one who had first dibs! Your foreign channel is not well-matched with him. With his literary prowess, he should definitely come to our Literature Channel. Say no more, Old Li. It's settled. Whatever good seedlings we have later will all be given to you. I will not vie with you!" Zhao Guozhou said without relenting.

"I only want him, not anyone else!" Li Honglian said with a cold face.

Zhao Guozhou said, "Last year, I gave up a good seedling to your foreign channel. This year, I'm definitely not giving up. Stop fighting me over this. Later, I'll give you a treat and, at most, I'll owe you one!"

Afternoon.

Jiaomen East.

After returning from his interview, Zhang Ye did not go to his parents' place. He still returned to his rental apartment. The small apartment was about 30-40 square meters, but he still liked it here. After all, this was his first time leading an independent life after graduation. He could not rely on his parents over every tiny thing. He planned to return home only after he had accomplished something.

Lunch was sumptuous. It was fresh prawns and noodles. Of course, it was the Master Kong branded instant noodles.

Without money, Zhang Ye could only make ends meet by eating instant noodles. He did not find it tough while working hard towards his ideal goals and, instead, he found joy in it.

Rao Aimin, who was dressed in an autumn dress, entered the apartment, "How was the interview?"

Zhang Ye, who was topless, was at a loss about whether to laugh or to cry as he wore a vest. "Landlady auntie, can you please knock first? I have my privacy, too."

Rao Aimin sat down with her legs crossed and snapped, "What sort of privacy does a little kid like you have? You did not pass the broadcasting host interview, right? I've already told you umpteenth times. Just make an honest living by working behind the scenes. With your looks, who would hire you to be in the spotlight? That is, unless they were blind!"

Zhang Ye picked it up and it was the voice of a youth. "Hello, are you Zhang Ye?"

"I am, who is this?" Zhang Ye had a hunch, but he still could not believe it.

The youth said, "I'm calling from Beijing Radio Station. You have been accepted and the higher-ups want to inform you to come to the literature channel the day after tomorrow to complete the necessary paperwork. Congratulations."

"Yes, Thank you! Thank you!" Putting down his cellphone, Zhang Ye slapped his thigh. Great! He got it!

The telephone call's volume wasn't soft, so Rao Aimin also heard it. She said surprisingly, "Aiyah. Hey? It can't be? You actually managed to get hired? Every dog has his day. Zhang Ye was in a good mood, so he did not retort. He immediately picked up the phone and phoned his parents. He informed them of the good news that he was no longer a jobless person. He was to become a broadcasting host!

Becoming famous and being a celebrity was what he had always dreamed of. Today, he had finally taken his life's first step. Although it was a tiny position and he did not have the looks or the height, but now, because of the game ring's help, his dreams might actually be fulfilled. He remembered the notice displayed in his dream while the game was being installed. This game was to aid him in fulfilling his dreams, to become the greatest superstar in the world. Now, the results were striking. The saving ability he had obtained from the lottery had helped him reverse the situation. The newbie incentive reward that changed the literary background of the world had also played a miraculous role. Today, he could use the imbalanced knowledge of literature to build his fame. By gaining Reputation, he could draw at the lottery, obtaining treasure items to help him fulfill his dreams of being a celebrity!

Immediately, Zhang Ye felt that even the Earth could not stop him!

Girlfriend? That was really a problem!

It's Zhang Ye!

*In this novel, you will see a lot of ‘your sister’, ‘your granny’, ‘your grandpa’, etc. “Your abc” was originally a euphemism for “your mother” or other variations, which is a pretty vulgar curse word in Chinese that’s usually translated as the F word. 

‘Your sister’ is a common phrase used online. It is a derogatory term; but when used against people, it has a humorous take to it. Most people use it without any malice. It is also usually used in conversations as a harmless retort (similar to ‘screw you’ when used in a joking fashion), and can also magically reduce awkwardness in a conversation. The other variations for different relatives also have similar connotations.


Zhang Ye was originally a mundane college graduate with aspiring dreams to become a star, but unfortunately has below average looks and height. However one day, he woke up and suddenly found himself in a parallel world! 
It’s like the same world, but wait a minute…many brands, celebrities and even famous works from his world changed and are gone in this new world! Armed with the profound literary knowledge of his previous world and a heaven-defying Game Ring that gives him magical items, stats and skills, Zhang Ye embarks on a journey to pursue his life-long dream of becoming famous!

The Meiji period marks the re-opening of Japan to the West, ending over two centuries of period of national seclusion, and a period of rapid industrialization. The introduction of European literature brought free verse into the poetic repertoire. It became widely used for longer works embodying new intellectual themes. Young Japanese prose writers and dramatists struggled with a whole galaxy of new ideas and artistic schools, but novelists were the first to assimilate some of these concepts successfully.

Natsume Sōseki's (1867–1916) humorous novel Wagahai wa neko de aru(I Am a Cat, 1905) employed a cat as the narrator, and he also wrote the famous novels Botchan (1906) and Kokoro(1914). Natsume, Mori Ōgai, and Shiga Naoya who was called "god of the novel" as the most prominent "I novel" writer, were instrumental in adopting and adapting Western literary conventions and techniques. Ryūnosuke Akutagawais known especially for his historical short stories. Ozaki Kōyō, Kyōka Izumi, and Ichiyo Higuchi represent a strain of writers whose style hearkens back to early-Modern Japanese literature.


In the early Meiji period (1868–1880s), Fukuzawa Yukichi authored Enlightenment literature, while pre-modern popular books depicted the quickly changing country. Then Realismwas brought in by Tsubouchi Shōyō and Futabatei Shimei in the mid-Meiji (late 1880s–early 1890s) while the Classicism of Ozaki Kōyō, Yamada Bimyo and Kōda Rohan gained popularity. Ichiyō Higuchi, a rare female writer in this era, wrote short stories on powerless women of this age in a simple style in between literary and colloquial. Kyōka Izumi, a favored disciple of Ozaki, pursued a flowing and elegant style and wrote early novels such as The Operating Room (1895) in literary style and later ones including The Holy Man of Mount Koya (1900) in colloquial.

Romanticism was brought in by Mori Ōgai with his anthology of translated poems (1889) and carried to its height by Tōson Shimazaki etc. and magazines Myōjō and Bungaku-kai in early 1900s. Mori also wrote some modern novels including The Dancing Girl (1890), The Wild Geese (1911), then later wrote historical novels. Natsume Sōseki, who is often compared with Mori Ōgai, wrote I Am a Cat (1905) with humor and satire, then depicted fresh and pure youth in Botchan (1906) and Sanshirô (1908). He eventually pursued transcendence of human emotions and egoism in his later works including Kokoro (1914) his last and unfinished novel Light and darkness(1916).

Shimazaki shifted from Romanticism to Naturalism which was established with his The Broken Commandment (1906) and Katai Tayama's Futon (1907). Naturalism hatched "I Novel" (Watakushi-shôsetu) that describes about the authors themselves and depicts their own mental states. Neo-romanticism came out of anti-naturalism and was led by Kafū Nagai, Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, Kōtarō Takamura, Hakushū Kitahara and so on in the early 1910s. Saneatsu Mushanokōji, Naoya Shiga and others founded a magazine Shirakaba in 1910. They shared a common characteristic, Humanism. Shiga's style was autobiographical and depicted states of his mind and sometimes classified as "I Novel" in this sense. Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, who was highly praised by Soseki, wrote short stories including Rashōmon (1915) with an intellectual and analytic attitude, and represented Neo-realism in the mid-1910s.
