Tuesday, January 16th 1996 
11:23 am at Asahigaoka High School

I was a rather mundane Tuesday right after I had visited Akira in the hospital. Even if yesterday was a Public Holiday and us students had a long weekend, it's going to be a short week after all. After spending some time in the solitary ward as I sat near her bed as usual; I took her hand and told her some funny things that happened during the holiday yesterday. I made up some stories to tell her that made me even believe it was true and it did happen. 

I laughed at my own corny jokes as I told my story to Akira, even if I knew she may not be responsive but at the meantime, she would be able to hear whether I was singing, or strumming the old guitar, talking nonsensical, having physical touches with her forehead, nose and hands.

I would recall the moment where I pinched her pouting lips and mimic some birds pecking her while calling out the "Muak Muak" sounds and yes, I still did that to her almost every time I remembered the moment.

I would hold her cheeks and made her lips curl into a smile and said, "It's already morning and time for your shower." Akira didn't actually smile though but I made the cheeks move up and down that curled her lips to smile or to frown. I don't know, it seems childish and if an adult was around, I would be clobbered on the head with a pair of black school shoes, definitely.

Pinching her nose would also make me sounded an effect like as if I was pressing the horns of a yatai as the seller moved from one neighbourhood to another hollering "Yakimooooi... Shi... Peet pot Peet pot Yakimooooi... Shi... Peet pot Peet pot. Wake up Akira... There's a hot sweet potato for you... C'mon open your eyes and climb out of bed..."

Sometimes my silly antics ended just as they started and as I sat down at her bed I would talk to her with a low and hushed tone.

"Akira...please forgive me. Its been months you had been here... But I'm not complaining and many times the nurses and doctors told me to move on... Yes, I am moving on and waiting for you to flutter your eyelids even for a second, or to grip my fingers as I held your hand... Or even a sneeze when I pulled your nose or even blushes when I pulled your cheeks... "

"I wanted to be here the moment you opened your eyes... I wanted the first person to call on you and say" let's jump off bed already... There's a MacDonalds just beside this hospital and we can go get some burgers"... I wanted to be the first person to hold you in my arms and to embrace you tight... I wanted to... Tell you that I sacrificed somethings just to make you safe here in this hospital. If I have a home, I'd take you with me and let you slowly recuperate and I'd take care of your meals and everything... Just to get away from here, just the two of us... "

Tears splattered on my shirt's front as it streamed again from my face. I picked the guitar and plucked slowly... Picked the right chords and strum while I sang through my choked voice.

The nurses on duty never failed to come close to the door and listen me chat, joked, poked fun at Akira and also to sing and play the guitar and when I finished playing the guitar and sing, I was unable to stem the flow of tears again as I held Akira's hand and kissed it and rubbed it against my face.

This time I heard the nurses softly clapping their hands and wiping away their tears as they bowed slightly to me. My tenacity to stay here from Day one right till now never falter and my show of affection and longing is still very much the same.

I told Akira that, "Hey little girl, SMS me when you wake up later OK? We go Macdonalds but right now I have to rush to school. See ya at 3:30 pm. Btw, Yaskawa-kun sends its regards to you and asking when you gonna buy ice cream from it again..."

As I placed the guitar at the corner of the bed, I slung my school bag and walked to her side. See you later Akira... I waved and I held her hand and make waving gestures at me.

My actions further made the nurses openly weep because it was so touching to view such a heartbreaking scene in that particular solitary ward.

Sigh... I slumped back at my chair as I was half-listening to the teacher that was delivering her lectures. Suddenly my Docomo phone buzzed silently but since I place it underneath my desk, it vibrates and moves about like a happy little thing.

I picked the phone up, flipped it open to answer from an "Unknown" number. The teacher was a bit perturbed at my sudden misconduct in class. After a few seconds on the phone, I suddenly jumped to my feet and leapt into the air and whooped filled with exuberance.

From my school bag, I produced a small "purse" if I am a girl or a "multipurpose utility bag" if I am a boy... HUAAA...!!! That carries a coin pouch, and whatever knick-knacks that I need if I want to exit in a sticky situation faster than anyone can say, Batman...!!!

I quickly slung it and ran towards the exit at the front of the classroom and while leaping in joy I shouted "Akira is awake...!!!" and continued to jump 3 steps at a time before I landed at the ground floor.

The teacher was utterly shocked at my unbecoming behaviour, using a mobile phone in class, shouting around, disturbing the peace of the students and other students in other class as well, jumping like a monkey and sending shock waves to the classroom beneath and lastly showing disrespect by not asking permission to leave the classroom. 

Just these three little words, "Fuck you, Senpai..." 

I ran up to Yaskawa-kun, did a little jig in front of the Robot Ice Cream Shop and ran towards the direction of Ookuma General Hospital while leaping around and punching the air. I sprinted as fast as I could to the hospital that was around 15 walk or an 8-minute sprint like a mad man...!!

I felt a sudden rush of adrenaline rush as I made through the lunch hour traffic and slid on top of several cars that had stopped along with the red light. Luckily I was wearing school pants and had no protruding metal buttons or rivets that may scratch the hood of the cars...!! If not there must be compensation done for the damage of the car hoods.

I was simply cutting through the air like a hot knife through butter as I felt a huge sense of relief and when I was about to reach the solitary ward, several doctors and nurses stopped me from entering.

As I huffed and puffed and tried to blow them away... They relayed the vital information that Akira had finally awaken from her deep sleep of several months... But as they told me, I have to be ready for another shock... Akira could not recall anything from the accident and can only recollect certain pieces of her past memories... AKIRA HAD AMNESIA...!!!

"Ok so Ruby, go with Yang and Velvet and do some missions, and I'll go work on the guitar." I say in a rush. Then without anytime for them to say anything, use Petal burst. I reach outside the workshop, but I've forgotten the key. Oh well I'll just use my power to create a key, then open it up. I look around and see a nice bit of space. I start to set up some tables for different things, then make the tools I'll need. 

I spent the next few days, just making the guitars. It was fun, the only magic I did was to make the metal things, like fret wire, pick ups, machine heads, etc. Now since it's magic, will it need magic sealing? Guess I'll have to find out. I don't know how long I've spent in here, but I don't think it's been too long. I mean if it was, Ruby would of already barged in. So I keep testing. 

I finally finish, and have three beautiful guitars. Two 'what I'm calling' Magitech Guitars and an acoustic guitar. Ruby's has red petal inlays, and a rose painted on the body. Mine is a monochrome design, with black rose inlays. And the acoustic is a red and black, with alternating red and black rose inlays. On the body, there is a black rose on a red background and a red rose on a black background. Me and Ruby will be sharing this one. 

Next I need to make an amp that uses magic, but I'll leave that since I've missed Ruby. I stretch, and leave the workshop after putting everything away. I send Ruby a message to see where she is. And after only one minute, I see petals as something jumps onto me. "Hello Ruby, Miss me?" I asked, smiling and hugging her. "You've been gone for a month, you need to make up to me." She said, with puppy eyes. "Well how about this?" I ask, pulling out her guitar.

"Oh thank you thank you thank you." She said, in quick secession grabbing the guitar. "Wow, it's beautiful." She said, fawning over the guitar. "I think I might get jealous, if you keep fawning over that guitar." I said, with a teasing smile. "Yeah you might." Ruby said, as she started hugging the guitar. I just start laughing, and pull out mine. "So should we go home, we still have two weeks." I said, with a massive smile.

We arrive home, and sat in the front room. We start playing, and it was fun. So we spent the next two weeks, playing guitar during the day and having fun at night. We head to Velvet's house and see how well there are doing. I knock on the door and wait. Yang answers the door with a smile, she is looking a lot stronger then when she arrived. "Come on you two, Velvet is waiting in the front room." She said, dragging us along. 

"Hello you two." Velvet said, sitting down on the sofa. Wow even Velvet is like a different person, she just a little weaker then Yang. "It seems the training worked." I said, looking from Velvet to Yang, then look at Ruby. She nods and I smile. "Ok, so are you two ready?" I ask, knowing the answer. "Yes/Yeah." They both said. I start to laugh and open a portal to mothers place. We all step through, but mother was nowhere to be seen. Oh yeah even devils can't see, well unless they want to explode. 

"Ok so both of you lay down, and I'll start." I say, making two beds appear. They both nod and make their way to the beds. After they lay down I start on Velvet first and it went well. Then it was Yang, which also went well. "So how long do you think they'll be out?" Ruby asked, looking at her sister. Before I could answer, another voice chimed in. "It will only be at most five years, but probably three years." Mother said, finally appearing. 

"Well at least it isn't as long as yours." I said, remembering that time. Ruby just looks at me, and smiles. "Well we will all be together, but have you thought about anyone else to join us?" Ruby asked, with a wondering look. "The only one I've thought of is Kara, but I don't know if she'll come along. Well if we get Vali, she might." I say, thinking about the two of them, kinda missing them.

This is about a girl who was killed, then a mysterious entity called the Creator, gave her two choices. Ether go though soul scrubbing, or become a Creator herself.

Han: yes mommy i want to buy a guitar !

Sana: (i remember that Jk love instrument He always play and sing for me but that's all in the past!)

Han: Mommy I want it please buy it for me

Sana: If it's what you like then i will buy it

Han: Thank you mommy !♡ you really are the best mom in the world

Sana: aww ! my baby is so sweet ! but do you know how to play it ?

Han: of course mommy i learn it in school

Sana: do they have a instruments there ?

Han:they have a lot mommy i didn't just learn guitar i also learn how to play piano and ukulele

Sana: wow ! why you wouldn't tell, i can buy that to  you

Han:  because I taught you don't like music but then we came here in korea i didn't know your a kpop idol mommy

Sana: Uhmm, Sorry i didn't yell you but isn't it amazing your mom is a kpop idol

Han: It's awesome mom ! and your friends is awesome too especially your room mom it's really really cool i wish i had a room like that !

Sana: Okay then let's get the guitar for you

Han: Thank you mommy !! ♡♡

Ah!  here go pay it I'm gonna answer this wait for me here okay ?

Sana: Don't go anywhere !

Sana: hello Momo ?

Momo: Favor can you buy me some Snacks

Sana: okay, What kind of snacks ?

Momo: Anything !

Sana: okay

Sana: (I'm about to go back in but someone grab me ) Ah ! hey what are-

Gio: Sana !

Sana: Gio !

Gio: Wow your finally back !

Sana: I miss you gio !

Gio: Me too You just disappeared like that, you didn't even tell me

Sana: ah sorry I'm in a rush that day

Gio: It's okay important is your back how was your vacation

Han: i can't reach the guitar uhmmm... ah ! excuse me sir

Jk: Yes ? little b- ( This kid is so much alike me) may i help you ?

Han: ( Why this guy is so familiar ? ) Sir can you get that Guitar for me, i can't reach it

Jk: Okay (Reach out) here you go little boy

Han: Thanks sir

Jk: uhmm are you alone where is your parents ?

Han: no I'm not alone mommy is just outside

Jk: Okay

Han:Mommy !

Sana: Oh have you not finished ?

Han: not yet mom i can't reach it earlier

Sana: Then how did you get it ?

Han: That guy Help me

Sana: Oh did you say thank you ( didn't recognize because of the mask

Han: ah not yet

Sana: You must say thank you to him because he help you, okay let's go there and say Thanks

Han: Hey sir ! i just wanna say thank you for helping me earlier

Jk: Oh it's okay

Sana: Thank you sir, Okay let's go now Han

Jk: sana? ... SANA!?

I force myself to not let out the tears that are building up. I heave a sigh of mixed feelings as I snatch my arm from the guy who's now walking away from us. I face Louis and walk towards him. 

"Thank you so much. I can't believe I'm meeting you in this awful situation of mine. It's just that the guard won't let us in and I have to see you since this is my biggest chance. Please don't think of me as an obsessed fan who'll stoop so low to-"

"It's okay." He interrupts and smiles at me, slightly crooked but white teeth display. "I have to go now, see you later?" He asks me, the tone of his voice calm as he speaks. He raises his eyebrows and I just notice that he asks for my name. 

"Rush. I'm Rush." I stand there, in awe of how he's even more handsome in person. His blond hair shiny and his silver earring on the left captivates me, the little details giving him more beauty. He nods before walking past me. His scent a mixture of the usual axe perfume and a flower that smells so familiar yet I can't name. I stare at him, following his movement to the stage as the host introduce him. He smiles at the audience and I catch the split-second glance towards me and I smile. He's wearing a pink high-necked thick sweater paired with a dirty-white modern day trousers that ends just a good few inches at the top of his feet to get a good look at the same shade of pink long socks.

I spot Riley at the back audience. She looks like she had just seen a ghost. 

"Dude, you bumped to your dream guy." She hits my shoulders and I nod to her. I still can't process what had just happened earlier and I'm still in shock.

"I know, I still can't believe it happened. Am I dreaming?" I say, more to myself than Riley as I stare at Louis, talking a little about his life and the more Netflix deals he have gotten because of his great performance of his first show. His English is actually pretty good for a German, it sounds so natural and his accent has a touch of British into it. He now stops talking, scanning the audience with his wide smile, his eyes getting smaller in the process.

He heads to the back of the backdrop aka the familiar dark red curtains. This club has seriously a thing for it. He returns to the main stage with now a shiny dark brown guitar slung in him, his thin lips press against each other while he sits on the chair, adjusting the microphone to fit his height.

"Okay. I'm gonna play you guys one of my favorite songs. It's from a famous American rock band called Bon Jovi? Yeah, legends." The crowd bursts into cheers. Riley turns to me and rolls her eyes. 

"Typical straight guy." I elbow her, my sight not leaving the stage.

"Anyway, this is titled It's My Life and I'm playing it to y'all in acoustic. Is that alright?" The audience yells different words of agreement and he smiles. 

The lights except at the main stage dim out. He adjusts something on the guitar before he lets out the lyrics.

His voice soothing as he sings softly, stringing the guitar like it's the most fragile thing in the world. I'd never thought I'd wish to be a guitar in my lifetime but here I am. He hits all the notes perfectly, although some are slightly flat but it's unnoticeable. Yes, I know about music and notes. When you listen to vocalists, you tend to study the notes they hit and the topic captivates me anyway.

The crowd sings along with Louis but not overshining his voice. After minutes, the song finally ends and we all bursts into applause. I'm smiling widely, proud of what he had just done. I glance at Riley who's also smiling.

"Well, he's not too bad. Quite actually good." She admits and I grin.

"So, summer has been great for y'all?" He asks and different answers are thrown at him. He chuckles, placing the guitar to his back. 

"New York City is definitely one of the best places I've been into. The noises of everything- it's a good noise though. It's just that, with a city as huge and busy as this, you can do what you want! So this song is about having the most fun in this very hot season. Here's Summer Paradise by Simple Plan."

I bob my head with the rhythm of the song. The fast pace changing the tone of this club lighter than it was minutes ago when he sang the first song. 

The night goes on with Louis singing an unfamiliar song and a known one but I don't fully know the lyrics. At total, he sings 5 songs and he now talks about more appearances in the city coming. Movie debut date and everything about his profession. After, he hands the microphone to the host and leaves the stage while waving to the audience. My gaze following him as he walks to the same dark area I bumped him into. People start to gather around him, asking for pictures and fansigns and me and Riley just stand there, distantly watching. I don't know what to do, I'm still embarassed that I went straight to the floor in front of him.

A new bodyguard appears, assisting a struggling Louis out from some of the desperate fans. I roll my eyes, can they just move away and let him go. I feel like celebrities don't get comfortable around fans because of this. 

He's now at the door and we head towards it, too. As we exit the club and as I scan the crowd around me, trying to find Louis and maybe grow some balls and talk to him, he's slowly walking to his car while having conversation with two people dressed in formals.

"Dude, go to him." Riley bumps her body to me and I continue to stare at him.

"I'm scared." I admit. Two days ago, meeting Louis wasn't scary, not even a single ounce of that feeling. But now that I actually have a chance into having that, I'm frozen. It's also not helping that the clouds have now taken over, cold wind brushing past us. I look at the non-existent stars. It's going to rain. As I remove my gaze from the clouds, when I glance at Louis, it feels like destiny, or atleast for me. He looks at me, smiling before he goes inside his car.

"So, you bumped to him, fell to the floor, watched him sing, and you didn't talk to him about your stubborn admiration for him? God, you're so stupid." Sash states as she lays her head on top of her boyfriend's chest. We're all in the sofa watching this romance movie that she picked earlier. Beside me is Riley, nodding her head towards Sash in agreement.

"Well, technically I talked to him. But like- I don't know, I was so scared." I'm now regretting the way I didn't walk to him.

"Well, there's always a next time. Don't worry." Sash says, plunging a popcorn into her mouth.

"My sister comforting me? That's a first." She throws me a popcorn and I thankfully dodge it, landing on Riley's thigh.

A phone's ringing, the ringtone a song I don't know the title of but surely something Riley would listen to. I'm right as I see her getting her phone and standing up.

"It's Levi." She says as she taps the facetime app, revealing Levi in his dark bedroom, his little lamp the only source of light. I know it since I've been in his room thousands of times. He smiles, his hair messy and his nose piercing in display. He rarely uses piercing on the nose and seeing it is weird, it fits his energy though. 

"Hey idiots. How's New York." He asks, pushing his hair back. What's with boys and their obsession of touching their hair every three seconds?

"It's fine although Rush is missing you-" I slap her shoulder and take the phone from her. 

"Like I can ever miss you. Anyway, when are you coming here?"

"You can't talk about not missing me and wanting me there at the same time, dude." He grins and I roll my eyes.

"Yeah, he's great at pretending." Riley buts in.

We talk about the things that had happened in the last two days. From that beach situation to meeting Rush and the things we had to risk and do for it. We laugh at the events and I seriously want us three to just be together and party the night with our stupidity. It's just not the same without Levi's masculinity in the group.

"Bruh, you should've straight up looked him in the eye and told your feelings." Levi says as he indulge into my regret. I sigh, seriously I'm so dumb for letting go an opportunity with Louis like that. 

"What's done is done. Can we just not talk about it?"

"Sure." Drip of sarcasm in his voice and I stick my tongue out to him. 

I feel my phone vibrate and I check it, an Instagram notification on my lockscreen and I quickly open it. My eyes widen and I hand Riley's phone back to her, I stand up and walk away from the couch to where the three are sitting.

Kyle was still working so he immediately continued his work, coincidentally the Japanese guy talked to him "Oh, Nicesuu meet youuu, I wourd rike some halp".(A/N: I tried)
Kyle turned his head and replied "How may I help you?" with a smile, then he took a peek at the Japanese guy's phone and it was exploding, comments kept coming but all of it was Japanese so Kyle didn't understand any of it.
"Hai, hai, Where Could I get Kechappu?" The Japanese guy said, Kyle understood and guided him, after that Kyle continued working, it didn't take long before Kyle finished his work and went back home, he doesn't know if he could take the next part-time job anymore, he was so exhausted, thankfully the body was used to it, but Kyle still felt it.
He immediately jumped to his bed and fell asleep, 3 hours later he woke up, Kyle took a shower and then started his plan in streaming, he had many choices singing, gaming, Drawing, etc, there are many things to choose, then he remembered that he got a level 1 singing mastery in the starter pack, so he decided to go with singing.
After choosing Kyle now need an instrument, a guitar would be good, he pondered for a moment then remembered that Grandma May had an old guitar that belonged to her long-deceased husband, Kyle changed his clothes and went to the place where Grandma May was staying, he knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Grandma May's voice sounded from the other side of the door.
"Grandma, it is me Kyle" he replied
The door opened and Grandma May saw Kyle, "Son, what brings you here?" she asked in a surprised tone.
"I came to borrow Grandpa's guitar, can I?" Kyle asked in a sincere tone.
Grandma May smiled and pulled Kyle, "Come then, its much better if you use it, I don't know to play guitar so it was only decoration here", Grandma bought Kyle in the living room and there he saw the Guitar sitting, even though it seemed old, it was very clean, this shows how much grandma May took care of it, Kyle took the Guitar and said thanks to Grandma May before returning to his apartment.
Kyle sat on a chair, he remembered that he doesn't know how to play guitar but when he touched the guitar he felt like had been playing it for many years, Kyle started strumming the guitar and found nothing wrong with it, then he started to play, this is where Level 3 instruments Mastery showed off its might, the sound was very pleasing and no mistakes can be heard, it was like everything was just perfect, he then started to go and sing with it.

The way Kyle sang was above average, in his memories the Level 1 Singing Mastery also showed its might, the breathing technique, the control and other else were decent, it was not in the level of professional yet but it was decent, after a while Kyle finished singing, he just sang the song "Can't Help falling in love with you", after that Kyle started doing his stream, first is to go to a streaming platform called Rattv and Kyle registered.
After doing the other necessary things Kyle was now ready to go stream, his streamer name is Fall and then he added title, "Singing with KF", yeah... it was dumb, anyways this would be Kyle's first time streaming so he was a bit nervous, then he started streaming, he shared his channel to his friends so that they could watch him, it didn't take long before Kyle had 2 viewers and both were his close friends.
"Kyle you started streaming?" A comment popped out
"Yeah, I just want to try" Kyle replied
"Okay, we will support you!" another comment popped out
Kyle felt happy as these two were his very close friends, so to not make them wait, Kyle took a breath and then started singing.
"Oh, misty eye of the mountain below" Kyle didn't strum first and just sang the song, his friends were also shocked when they heard him sang, his voice was decent but the song they have never heard of it before! Kyle continued to sing.
"Keep watching over Durin's sons" then Kyle started strumming the guitar, the camera was fixed on Kyle's mouth and the guitar, so they could see his performance, the way Kyle played the guitar is so good.
"OwO, bro! you were hiding this kind of talent?" a comment popped out
"Yeah, he is definitely hiding his skills!"
When his two friends liked it, they started sharing it around, they have many more friends than Kyle, it didn't take long before 10 more people arrived at the stream and they immediately heard Kyle's singing which captivated them especially the females.

Yes, this was a song by Ed Sheeran "I See Fire", Kyle continued singing while the comment section was exploding, they sent gifts and also shared the channel.
"This guy is underrated!"
"What song is this? I never heard of it!"
"KJJP gifted you a Flower!"
The song was about 5 minutes long and Kyle had finished singing, "Thank you for listening" Kyle said, he then saw the viewers already had 156 people watching him, he was so focused on singing that he didn't notice it! and it was shocking, Kyle knew that having this much viewers in less than 10 minutes is already hard for streamers but he did it! His first step was very firm! he then glanced at the comment section
"Nice song! what is the song name?"
"Song name please!"
"What is the Sauce!"
Kyle then replied with "The title of the song is "I See Fire"
then a second later, immediately a surge of comments came flooding in.
"I can't find it? is this an original song?"
"Yeah, I also can't find it!"
"This is an original song, I'm sure, I have recorded his singing and posted it on YT!"
"Really! I want to hear it again! ill go check it now!"

Kyle also got curious and checked it and there he saw that it was already becoming Viral, in less than 3 minutes it already has a thousand views, the poster didn't forget to link the stream and his viewers were climbing up! this is insane!

So many times, people told me I can't do this or can't do that. My nature is that I don't listen very well. I'm very determined, and I believe in myself. My parents brought me up that way. Thank God for that. I don't let anything stand in my way.

1940, 2:17AM, Harlem, New York City. 

A single mother was in labour screaming. "Push, push you're almost there keep going" the obstetrician told the woman. She kept giving all she had and finally after an hour of pushing it was over. 
"Congratulations it's a boy. Do you have a name in mind?"
"Yes Rasheed... Rasheed Henderson" the mother replied. Rasheed would grow up to be the greatest guitar player Harlem has ever seen.

1948, Harlem, New York City. 

"You're nothing but a rash, is that why your mother named you Rasheed?" kids on the schoolyard bugged. The kids bugged Rasheed almost every day giving him the nickname "Rash." They would push him around and steal his lunch money. Rasheed kept it to himself and wouldn't tell his mother, he wanted to be strong. He thought if he could be strong he could be just like his mother. Rasheed was a fan of Charlie Christian, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and more. All inspiring him to want to play guitar. He told his mom 
"Mama I'm gonna be the best guitar player ever. Then people will actually love me." His mom got upset
"Me and your sister Lynette will always love you no matter what remember that. Your father too but that's too hard to explain right now baby" Mama Henderson said. Lynette was his sister and his fathers name was Percy. He hadn't seen Percy since his mother brought him to the institution to visit when he was a baby. He was only four months old the last time he was held by his father. Rasheed really wanted to meet him but his mom told him to wait until his 11th birthday. She also said if she had gotten a raise by then he might even get a guitar. He had wanted one since he was five years old but his family just couldn't afford it. His teacher Mrs. Pinkerton asked the class what they all wanted to do when they were older. "I'm gonna play guitar and be in a band" Rasheed told his teacher. "You'll never play guitar you rash, you're too stupid" kids bugged him. This only added fuel to the flames of Rasheed's ambitions. He'd follow his dreams and show everyone how wrong they were. It wasn't long before he had enough of kids teasing him. He dropped out of school in grade 6 and his mother told him to get a job.
"You best not think you can drop out of school and not do nothing around here" she said to him. He went out everyday searching for a job until he found one. They needed help at the docks unloading fish. He wasn't very big so he started off getting them coffees and whatever else they wanted. Every dollar he ever made he gave to his mother to help with rent. They stayed in an apartment on 5th Ave. It was a day away from Rasheed's 11th birthday and his mother had great news. She had gotten a raise and her 75 cents was made a $1.00. Rasheed assumed this meant he was going to get a guitar. Also knowing he was going to meet his father gave him a rush of excitement. A rush of excitement he hasn't felt since his grandma taught him to ride a bike at the age of 5. It was the next morning and he ran out of his room to the kitchen. His mom was at the counter sipping a coffee. 
She pulled the mug away from her face as he entered the room - 
"Happy birthday! How old are you now, old enough to get your own place?"
"Ha, ha. No not quite yet, when do we get to go see dad?"
"Not for another two hours then it'll be visiting time" she answered. My excitement disappeared as if it was flushed down the toilet and my smile faded. 
"Get rid of that frown aren't you gonna ask about your present?"
"I almost forgot! What is it?" Rasheed asked having a good idea what it was already.
"It's over there in the closet under the garbage bag" she said. Lynette entered the kitchen 
"happy birthday butt sniffer!" she sister joked giving him a playful shove. Lynette was two years older than Rasheed and would often tease him. Rasheed didn't mind though because she always had his back and stood up for him. 
"Leave your brother alone Lyne, go open your present Rasheed and I'll start breakfast. Do you guys want some pancakes?" 
"Yes! Both the children answered. He continued to the closet door and slid it open quick. Lifting the garbage bag he found laundry, dirty laundry. He turned around saying "ok I know I forgot about laundry but what is thi-" he froze. Standing across from him was his sister and mom smiling. In his mother's hands was a baby blue Fender Telecaster. "You eat breakfast, practice for a bit and then those clothes better be cleaned" she told him. 
"Thank you, Thank you! Rasheed yelled hugging his mother then grabbing the guitar and running to his room. 
"That boy better come back and eat his breakfast"
"He's not coming back" Lynette said and they both laughed. Finally it was time to leave and meet his father. Now Rasheed was nervous
"Rasheed let's go, me and your sister have been waiting for 15 minutes!"
"Coming!" Rasheed yelled back putting on his jacket and swinging open his door. They all filed through the door and down out of the apartment. They got into their car which was a puke green Mercedes-Benz W187 convertible. They drove and drove out of the city and down a long dead road. There was a lot of trees with the wind ruffling through the leaves as some fell and flew away. The sky was dark and a storm raised rolling in slowly. Then there it was "Forest Heights Institution" with a big iron gate. They drove up a long gravel driveway to the entrance that seemed never ending. Lynette had already been visiting their father for two years since she had been thirteen now. Rasheed's father was diagnosed with identity disorder thinking he was someone else every day. He was put in the institution when he was found in a bar dancing naked. Not only was he naked but he believed he was playing the trumpet. He also truly believed he was Louis Armstrong. The officers who arrived on the scene just thought he had one too many drinks. Although he hadn't had a single drop of alcohol. They parked and entered the building signing into the visitors list. They walked through big doors and down a long white hallway to a door that said "visiting room." Their mom bent down and asked Rasheed 
"Are you sure you're ready to meet him?" He was never more sure about something in his life. 
"Yes Mama, more than ever" he responded. 
"Okay baby lets go" she said leading them in with her arms around them. "There he is over there" said Lynette pointing at him. He was tall even sitting down, skinny, with an afro and a stubble goatee. His afro had a patch of grey and his eyes were green. His face was ashy with a scar over his upper lip and small moles on each cheek. He had huge bags under his eyes and a gold piercing in his left ear. They approached the table with a nurse who explained 
"Percy this is your family, your children are here. There's Lynette and I haven't met-"
"Children? I don't have any children. Who's Percy? I'm John Wayne now please go I have someone arriving at 3 o'clock for an interview." Percy interrupted
"Percy it's me, you've met Lynette before and I want you to meet Rasheed, your son" Rasheed's mothed said. She nudged her kids closer to the table. 
"Hi daddy! I made you this bracelet in school" said Lynette holding a red, white and blue string bracelet. Percy was frozen staring into Rasheed's eyes. He didn't know who he was or the life he had lived but he remembered one thing. Before losing his mind he remembered staring into Rasheed's big brown eyes the day he was born. "Son, my son please sit down with me" he said as if he snapped out of hypnosis. Suddenly the John Wayne act was gone away, he then looked at Lynette and took the bracelet. He patted the chairs across from him wanting them to take a seat. They sat down and Lynette went on and on about school and friends. Percy was happy to see how beautiful his daughter had grown to be and proud of how well she did in school. Of course they had already met and Lynette had told him these things many time, Percy just couldn't remember. 
"What about you....Rasheed is it? How are you in school?"
"I left school in grade six sir and now I work down at the docks."
"What, why did you drop out of school?" Percy asked confused. Rasheed hadn't told anyone the real reason and certainly didn't think it'd be his father.
"Kids bugged me and they'd call me Rash, push me around, take my lunch money. On top of all that I never got any work done I didn't feel smart enough."
"Now I understand not getting the lessons and such but let me tell you something. Don't ever, ever let someone get in the way or stop you from being who you are or what you need to do. You hear me son?"
"Yes sir" Rasheed answered and a few minutes passed before Percy's identity changed again. It was time to leave so they said their goodbyes and went back to their car. It began to rain and and thunderstorm while the kids waited for their mother to unlock the car.
"How come you never told me about the way kids treated you in school?"
"I never wanted you to worry Mama" Rasheed answered. Tears started to roll down his mothers face 
"I will always worry about you baby. Both of you, I love you both more than anything. You guys are my world and nothing matters more to me than you guys being happy" she cried. That was the first time Rasheed witnessed his mother cry and that was something you never forgot. "We love you too Mama" Lynette said trying to comfort their mother. Rasheed was never good at comforting he just never knew what to say. Though that night when he got home he hugged his mother so tight he could hear her heartbeat. She kissed him on the forehead and he headed to his room and picked up his guitar. He practiced and practiced and didn't stop no matter how frustrated he got. After that day he went and played for his father every single day.

Inspiring guitarist Rasheed Henderson lives in Harlem in the 50's. He forms a band with his good friends and they get decent pay playing at an Italian restaurant. Rasheed quickly forms a crush on his bosses daughter who he eventually meets and they fall in love. Him and his band then get another job offer from a crazy club owner who's willing to pay them more. They obviously take the generous offer, only they don't know all of the trouble that will come along behind their decision.

Tony and Kathy tore through the living room and made their way to a comatose Donnie, Tatterhood, RJ and Senior Hippie.

As it turned out, the group did not get physically warped into Donnie's memories and into the Dream Plane, rather their souls and minds got linked together by the magic of the remembong.

This was both a good and a bad thing.

The good thing was that since RJ, Tatterhood and Senior Hippie were basically astral projecting into Donnie's memories instead of being physically in there, it meant that if they were to die in his dreams, somehow, they would get sent back to their bodies instead of dying.

The bad thing was that if Donnie died in his dream state, he would die in reality and leave the other three trapped inside, effectively killing them as well.

"He's not breathing! Get me the defibrillator thing quick!" Tony shouted after checking in Donnie's condition. Sensing the urgency of the situation, Kathy switched to human form and bolted to Donnie's bedroom. At the same, Tony began to perform CPR on the comatose veteran.

"Don't you die on me boss, don't you die on me"!

While Tony and Kathy were making sure Donnie's corporeal form was safe, Senior Hippie, Tatterhood and RJ were busy trying to rescue his spiritual form from the clutches of the Batibat.

The only issue was that between them and her was an army of weird melting wax zombies, all of whom used to be the random people milling about the park, and a literal Nightmare. 

"So what's the plan here?", Senior Hippie asked while nervously prepping his guitar, "because there is a lot of them and only three of us".

"Meh"!

"Okay, four. Seriously though, how we gonna get to Donnie"?

"Simple", Tatterhood began, "I'm going to go stab the Batibat in the face while Bellerophon eats that silly hell horse".

"Meh"!

RJ wasn't surprised about Tatterhood's first statement, but that second part threw him for a loop.

"How...how is a goat going to eat a horse"?

A wide smile appeared on Tatterhood's face as she was ready for RJ to ask.

"A goat eating horse? Can't you see Bellerophon is truly a Baku, a yokai from Japan known to devour nightmares and those who cause it"?

With those magic words said, Bellerophon began to transform.

"The goat does the weird transforming thing too?!", Senior Hippie exclaimed in surprise. He knew that Tatterhood could change her clothes and spoon, he didn't know about the goat.

Bellerophon's body began to grow thicker and more muscular, his hooves turning into tiger paws, while his face began to grow a trunk as his horns migrated downward into becoming tusks.

"Boaaa"!

With a mighty roar, Bellerophon had completely transformed from a simple goat to a Baku, a tapir-like monster with the limbs of a tiger and the body of a bear.

The Nightmare visibly shuddered at the sight of the newly transformed Baku.

"Get 'im".

"Boa"!

At Tatterhood's command, Bellerophon the Baku shot off like an arrow and began to chase down the Nightmare.

"Now then, ask me how I'm going to get pass this crowd while wearing tattered clothing and stab the Batibat in the face with a wooden spoon", Tatterhood said to RJ and Senior Hippie, a wide smile on her face.

"How are you gonna get pass this crowd wearing nothing but tattered clothes?", RJ asked, compelled.

"How are you going to stab it in the face with a wooden spoon?", Senior Hippie asked.

"Tattered clothes? Nei, I am wearing the armor of Achilles. As long as I wear this, no one can touch me on the battlefield".

Before their eyes, the tattered clothing morphed into a set of light bronze and leather armor, with unusually designed boots to go with it.

"A wooden spoon you say? Nei, can't you see I'm wielding the Holy Lance of Longinus? The one that once pierced the side of a messiah"?

The wooden spoon in her hands began to lengthen, as the head of the spoon began to morph into a golden spear tip, radiating holy energy.

"Huh".

"I don't know if I should find this sacrilegious or think that makes sense", Senior Hippie commented while making the sign of the cross.

"Now then, I'm going to leave it to you two to deal with all these nasty wax men while I go and rescue Donnie", Tatterhood said as she began to walk forward, towards the encroaching horde of wax zombies.

"Why are you going in by yourself? Aren't you afraid of that horde ganging up on you?", RJ asked.

"Because", Tatterhood looked backed with a confident smile, "I am Tatterhood, the greatest runner in all the land and none of them will be able to catch me as long as you two deal with them".

An unusual feeling came over RJ and Senior Hippie the moment Tatterhood said those words. It was as if a hidden source of strength and power surged from within and invigorated their entire being.

"Why do I feel like I can fight an army now?", Senior Hippie asked as he suddenly felt like he could play the most wicked guitar solo in existence.

"Huh...didn't know you could do that", RJ muttered as he flexed his fingers, "You're full of surprises".

"Yes I am", Tatterhood said with pride, "now would you two mind clearing me a path"?

"Alright then", RJ agreed while rushing forward. Senior Hippie for his part just prepared his guitar and set his fingers on an E5 power chord.

[Rock Barrage!], RJ exclaimed while leaping forward and slamming his fists to the ground.

[Power Chord]!

A flurry of rock missiles followed by a shockwave of sound flew through the air and annihilated an encroaching group of the wax zombies, clearing a path for Tatterhood to rush through.

"Thank you kindly gentlemen. I'll be back with that bitch's head, ASAP".

With a quick bow, Tatterhood proceeded to rush through the cleared pathway and straight towards the Batibat. Unfortunately, this meant leaving RJ and Senior Hippie to a reforming horde of wax zombies.

"So...how many do you think we have to fight?", Senior Hippie asked while preparing his guitar.

"I don't know", RJ commented while coating his limbs in stone and arming his mirror, "How many people attended the 'Summer of Love' back in the day"?

"Puta Madre".

It had been a week and I hadn't heard anything from them. I'd assume they are busy trading or something. I was hanging out in my room by myself right now thinking how everyone is. 'I'm glad I was able to get my memory back.' I thought. I was more relaxed than ever now that I have my memory back. Someone knocked on my door. "Come in." I said. It was River and Rush. 
 
"Hey guys. What's up? You guys look like your about ready to cry. Did someone die?" I joked. "No one died, but you got a letter from the captain of your ship." "Oh thanks. I better go. It will be ok guys. Its no like I won't come to visit. Plus I don't know the news yet anyway." "Yeah good thinking." Said River. So I rushed off to the captain and the boys followed me to hear the news. 
 
"I'm here Captain and Chris! Where's the letter?" Uncle gave me the letter, I read it silently and my face beamed up at where they were. "How far are we from the Calamer Port?" "About a weeks worth." Said Uncle. "Ok then. They said they would wait for us there." "OK then. Off to Calamer Port." Said Uncle. Rush ran to his room and shut the door. "OH Rush. Sorry about that Kai. He must have got attached to you. When he gets attached to someone and they have to leave, this is what happens." Said uncle. "Hey uncle? I have been meaning to ask this for awhile. I know its none of my business, but where is your wife?" "Oh I don't mind talking about her. She died giving birth to Rush. She was a sick woman to begin with. We weren't planning on having any more after River. Then when we found out she was pregnant with Rush, we were shocked. We knew that she didn't have much longer in this world. We were worried he wouldn't make it either. She told me and River to take care of Rush." "Does Rush know this?" "Yes he does. I tell him every year or when he is down in the dumps like this. I think the best thing that can happen is for us to leave him alone." "Mind if I try talking to him? I have a younger brother Elias. He has a similar attitude. If he is anything like him I know what to do." "Go ahead and try. Good luck." 
 
I went to Rush's room and knocked on the door. (Knock Knock). "Its me. Kai." He wiped his eyes and said "Come in." So I walked in and sat next to him on the edge of his bed. "I know your upset about me leaving. We knew this day would come and you guys knew it. I'll tell you what Rush. I will do my best to write a letter to you once a week. I will even send you pictures. Once I have been home for awhile, maybe I will come see you guys again. I need to get used to a routine on land again before I go back out to Sea. It will be a challenge but I will manage. Plus I need to thank you guys. I will be sending some packages to thank you all. I will also have 1 big one to thank all the crew and everyone here for everything they did."
 
I thought for a moment then thought of something. "Hey Rush. What do you like to do? Do you have a hobby?" "I do but its embarrassing. I haven't even told anyone about it. Everyone is usually asleep." "I promise I won't laugh or make fun of you. In fact I might know a way to boost your confidence with it." "OK. I guess I can tell you. I'm still working on it which makes it embarrassing. I play Guitar. I'm afraid people will laugh at me and make fun of me because I am no good." "I have an idea. I have a hobby I'm embarrassed about as well. I sing. Is there a song you know how to play on the guitar?" "Well there are a few I can actually play. One of them I almost got the hang of." "Can you name the songs? Maybe I know them. Then I will tell you my plan." "Ok. I like a pirates life for me. I know its kidish but I like it. Also the pirate song." "I have an Idea. Lets play the pirate song. I always liked that one for some reason. OK so here is the plan. I will have your dad announce there is going to be a surprise when we get to port. Then I will have Rin, Elias Mom, Dad Cliff, My brothers, Kaia, captain, Sea and his sister Kairi all hear. Remember no one knows about my talent as well. You will hear why I am embarrassed once you start playing." "Thanks Kai." "No problem Rush." So we headed out to join everyone. 
"Hey Uncle. I got him to calm down. I have something to tell you. Once we get me back, Rush and I have a surprise for you." "When we get to the port, I will gather everyone up. Thanks Kai." "Yep." 
 
A week later, it was about 3:00. Then I went to find uncle and said, "Hey uncle. How far are we from the port?" "We should be there in an hour." "Ok I will tell Rush." I ran around asking if anyone has seen him then I spotted him on a bench. "Hey Rush. We will be there in an hour. Are you nervous?" "Yeah a little bit. You said we should be there in an hour?" "Yeah I did." We had been practicing once everyone had gone to bed. "Well it may have only been a week, but I think we are ok. We will do fine." I hope you are right Kai. 
 
After awhile, we were starting to see the port. I could tell Rush was getting nervous just by looking at him. "Relax Rush. Breathe." "I can tell you need to do the same Mr. Brave man." Joked Rush. "OK after saying that I myself feel confident. Thanks Kai." "Haha. I'm glad somebody is." I said. 
 
As we were closing in on the port, Uncle made an announcement to gather. So everyone gathered and we waited until we got to port. "OK here we are everyone. We just need to wait for a few more people, then they will start. I will be back. "Nico you're in charge. Until I get back. " Said the captain. So the captain went down off his ship and looked for Rin and her family and then went to the other ship and got only the few Kai wanted. 
 
I saw everyone get on the ship and I was really nervous. I looked at Rush and saw he wasn't as nervous as he was before but I see some nervousness. Then we heard uncle start talking to the crowd. We got in our position to get ready. I was the one that suggested it, so I was the one that had to explain. "Ladies and Gentleman we have a special treat today. Kai and my son Rush have a surprise for you all. I would like to introduce those of you who already know anyway. Kai and Rush." Then everyone clapped. Rush and I walked out. Rush walked out with his guitar, and I waited for the noise to die down. 
 
"Thank you all for coming here. We secretly practiced what we are about to do for a week. We were really embarrassed about our hobbies until I had the perfect idea. If we were both embarrassed, why not do them together. I am going to sing, while Rush here will be playing. We are really nervous so please. We would love to hear some encouragement in the crowd and afterwards. We are going to sing The Pirate Song by Blippi. Ok Ready Rush?" "Ready as I'll ever be for my first time." Then he started playing and I started singing. " I'm a pirate a pirate sailing of to sea…." 
 
After we were done, Rush and I parted for a bit. I was relieved. I took a deep breath and said "Its finally done." Then I sat down on a barrel and was in deep thought. Rin was being really quiet not to disturb him until…. "Good job Kai." "Woah! You scared me Rin!" "Hehe. Sorry about that. You know. You have a really unique singing voice. I love it." "Really? You didn't think it was too…How should I say it too kidish? As Rush would say." "Hehe. No its not. I love it." "Hey where is Elias?" "Oh he said he would see you at home. He is working on some project whatever that means." Then Rush came up to me. "OK Kai. I'll see you at home ok?" "Yeah sure. Hey Rush what's up?" "Sorry for getting literally pulled away by my friends." "Haha. Its fine. I know what that is like. My brother Elias did that a lot when we were growing up and I was talking." "You know, that voice of yours." "Sorry I know my voice is bad right? Rin was just being nice." "Oh no. Its actually kind of cool. You sound like one of the Anime characters I used to watch or still watch when I get a chance to get to port. I was thinking if you came back again, you can sing with me again." "Yeah if you want me too. I won't be singing much that's for sure." "Ok. Rush. Where is River I'd like to say goodbye to him too." "He's with dad right now in the cockpit. Lets both go." "Ok sure." 
"We went to the Cockpit and I saw Aiden Chris and River. "Hey guys. I just wanted to stop by and goodbye. Thanks for everything." "Its us who should thank you Kai." Said Uncle. "I knew my brother was alive, I just didn't know what ship or if he was responsible." "I will make sure to write once a week if I can. Whenever you change course, send word." "We will Kai." I gave my aunt and Uncle a hug, I gave River a nudge on the shoulder and Rush gave me a hug and I hugged him back. "OK see everyone again sometime!" Then I stopped a moment and said, "Hey uncle. Next time you want someone don't kidnap them. Just say Hey I need ya I'm sure they will come by." I joked. Then I jumped off the ship and watched them go. I waved until they were out of sight. 
 
I decided to get back on the other boat so see everyone again. "Hey everyone!" Everyone gathered around me asking question after question. "Woah one question at a time I can't answer them all!" Then I heard a familiar voice. "Then why not answer mine. How have you been." I turned around and it was no other than Sea. He was like a big brother to me. I gave him a hug and thanked him. "Sorry I sound like a baby right now. I just missed you all. Where is your sister Sea?" "Oh she will be here shortly. By the way nice voice. Very teenage like." "Are you making fun of me?" "No its actually a complement. Plus those aren't my words they are my sisters." "Sea are you making fun of me again?" Said Kairi. "Hey Kairi. Kai was asking about you." 
 
"Hey Kai. I'm glad everything worked out. Sorry. I probably went a little too far." "Hey its fine I told you to do it. So what are yours and sea's plan's now that I am home?" "Do you want to tell him or should I?" said Sea. "Tell me what?" I said Curiously. "Well a friend of your mom Kaia's lives here. She has a couple of guest rooms. Since Captain told Sea to continue watching you, that is the only way he can. I myself will be staying for a few days, then I will have to leave again. Sea on the other hand is staying." "That's really good news. Are you guys going to see me home like a little kid today?" "Do you want us too?" "Yeah I guess just this once. I haven't seen you sea in 5 months." "Ok then. Shall we Kairi?" So we all were on the way back home to mom and dads. As we were walking I said, "Oh shit! I just realized I forgot to see Cliff Kaia and my brothers." "No need to worry about that. They don't plan on leaving for about 6 months or so." 
 
We finally got home and I knocked on the door. (Knock Knock) Mom answered the door. "Hey mom." She invited all of us in and we sat on the couches. Someone from the behind me touched my shoulder and made me jump. "Woah who? Dylan! Fury! Aiden! I thought you were on the ship!" "We were. Mom and dad are on the way too. The captain is coming with them." "I was just saying how bad I felt for not saying goodbye to you then I see you guys here. You guys are so bad." I joked. "haha. Yeah we are." Said Fury.

So what have you been secretly doing since I got back?" "Oh you will find out soon. It will happen tonight." I was finally home.

Sitting down alone in my apartment waiting for the clock to hit 3. That's the usual time my mom call's me and never fails to do so. My phone buzzes.
"Mack! You got more handsome!" I roll my eyes and laugh at her comment.
"Hi, mom. How was your day?" I ask.
"I had the best day at work and there is a new manager, he's quite the looker too." I sneer.
"Mom. I don't want to know about that." The woman on the other end laughs shyly. This woman was my world, the man who married her is a deadbeat dad and doesn't deserve to be loved by my mother. Despite everything, she still loves him, I know because she still wears her wedding ring, but she's lonely and that pains me.
"Mom, I got an interview for a job." The woman gasps.
"Really! Where, when?" She asked excitedly. I laugh at her energy.
"Tonight at midnight at a bar called Midnight Muse."
"That late? Honey won't that affect your other job?" I sigh.
"Yeah, about that... I got fired." I pinch the bridge of my nose as I feel relieved that I'm not in Canada, right now. I was born and raised in Toronto, it's in Ontario, Canada. Yeah, that's right I'm Canadian. Currently, I live in a small apartment in the city of Los Angeles.
The woman sighs. "What happened?"
"The manager, bullied one of the new co-workers and I punched him, I was overwhelmed and wasn't thinking, sorry. It won't happen again."
"It's not me who you should apologize to, it's yourself, you know if you can't afford the apartment you have to come back to Canada." I sighed and used the same excuse I use every time I don't want to talk about something.
"I'm tired, I love you. Talk to you tomorrow." I say hanging up the phone. I hit my head against the table.
"Ow, I hit it harder than I wanted." I rub my head and look at my cat. He's all black and had a pair of emerald green eyes.
I found fish-sticks by a river in a box bleeding, I brought her to a clinic to help him. She came out fine, but for some reason, he doesn't like me. I go to pet her and he hisses. You'd think helping an animal would make them like you.
"Fish-sticks, come here." I know he won't come but I try anyway. He hisses and paws at my hand.
"You little shit." I look at his food bowl and see it's empty. I fill it up and pour water into the second bowl. "Here you go fish-sticks you must be hungry." I put them on the ground and the cat jumped down from the table and started to eat the food. I contemplated petting him but I change my mind. Furthermore, I wasn't in the mood to get my face scarred with claw marks.
"I'm going to play a little, too pass time." I pick up my guitar and tune it. I put a capo on the second fret and start strumming. I play the classic acoustic guitar, I pick the strings with my fingers rather than a guitar pick. This guitar is the only thing my father gave to me, it used to be his, and he gave it to me, I was 6 and that's when I got into art.
Strumming the melody lightly with my fingers, the sound fills the empty apartment, and listening to the simple notes makes me feel at ease. The cat walked over to me and laid down on a pillow that was beside me. I continue to play the song and slowly hum to it after a while the words just come out. Flowing with the beat of the music. The cat starts to purr, I stop playing and go to pet him, he hisses and scratches at my arm.
"Ow, fish-sticks why do you only like me when I sing?" He meows, and I imagine he responded with something harsh.
I continue to pluck at the strings, I take out a notebook and write down some lyrics. As a songwriter, I'm always looking for some inspiration. This is what I usually do all day unless I'm working part-time somewhere. The lyrics flow out of me when I'm really in the mood, but right now I'm stuck.
"I'll just read something on web novel then go for a nap," I said talking to myself. I lay down on the couch and take out my phone. While reading my favorite story, I fall asleep. I wake up to the 11:00 alarm on my phone, when I look at the time it's 11:30. I get up immediately and run to my closet.
Turning on the light I grab a dress shirt and quickly button it up. I wear one of my many pairs of black jeans. I look for a pair that has the least amount of rips, and finally settled on one that only rips on one knee. I grab my jacket, it was November and was a little chilly. It doesn't snow much in California, but I've always been prone to colds. I spray some cologne and give fish-sticks a treat. On the way out I halt when I open the door, my neighbor was standing there in a pretty dress.
"Melody? Why are you standing in front of my door?" She stiffens and blushes.
"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to grab a coffee with me sometime?" I look at her and she seems confident. But a strong feeling clouded my mind. It was excitement and anxiety, my stomach was fluttery and my palms got sweaty. But it wasn't me, more like a reflection. Melody was nervous and I could feel it.
"I'd like that Melody, talk to you later, I'm in a rush." I shut and lock the door behind me, I start to jog to the elevator. I go to it and see a piece of paper saying 'Out of Order.' I cursed this damn building and myself for living on the top floor. I start to run down the stairs. Passing multiple people on the way. I pushed a couple into each other on accident, the man flips me the bird and I give it back, with a grimace.
My temper hasn't always been the best, rude and disrespectful people get me angry to the point my filter breaks and I say or do whatever comes to mind. I have to fix my filter several times a day when I work.
I finally leave the building, and it's 11: 47. I pick up the pace and run at full speed. In Los Angeles, at night the streets are still full, I pass several people pushing them out of the way and apologizing immediately after.
I was in a rush, because I didn't want to be late for work but secondly, I didn't want my glass foundation to break.
The air gets thinner the longer I stay in a crowd full of emotions. My glass gets cold and starts to crack, all I am is a wine glass full of expensive red wine. As I get closer to my destination the more the glass cracks and more wine drips out. The overwhelming feeling of emotions clouding my mind and thoughts slowing my body and chipping my glass. And it won't stop until I make it or my glass shatters.

Having a real life superpower, the ability to feel others emotions called Empathy, but Mackenzie Barnes wouldn't say it was a good thing.
He feels strained with this ability, he takes on all the emotions of the people around him rather than himself. But this gave him the love for the stage. Being on stage is the only time he can be himself.
