The ones that keep you on edge or make you feel as though your nearly drowning. 

Once completed, feels great, maybe grant you power. 

The huge relief of putting down a heavy load. 

Then the hopeful wish that follows after your over and done with it but your not, not ever. 

The never-ending cycle of completing the jobs, hopes, dreams, and ultimate expectations others have placed upon me. 

Here is my story, my thoughts, my conclusions in life, and further yourself onwards to the future.

For the past year, Astraea's life had increased activity-wise due to the new relationships she's gained, the new knowledge she learned, and the new cool stuff she could experiment and play with!

After her first birthday, she started to frequently play with Kyris and Tirana, most of the time playing in each other's homes and sometimes playing in the parks and playgrounds outside. Their homes were no less impressive than her own, as they were all upper-middle-class children, but each home had a different feel and design that made it unique from hers despite the obvious quality and high-cost that all the homes exuded.

The playgrounds were not your normal kiddy playgrounds with sandboxes, plastic slides, and swing sets, It was like a miniature futuristic amusement park that had towering slides, flying animal rides, ziplines, super-bouncy trampolines, and many more amazing things. She hadn't seen one before despite her occasional trips to the park with her mother as the playground seemed to have its own designated area as it was very big.

They played a lot at that playground, but as kids are kids, they easily got tired of it and went to do other things. They did normal things kids with do with each other such as play make-believe, show off and share their toys, fighting for them occasionally and talking nonsense with each other about the things they learn or see.

Though Astraea had regressed mentally to some extent, allowing her to become more childlike in terms of curiosity, energy, and positivity, she couldn't help but become physically and mentally tired out from playing with Kyris and Tirana.

It made sense as she was physically a year younger than them and despite the new wondrous things this world has to offer that Astraea had yet to learn about, literally everything about this world is wonderous to Tirana and Kyris who only have been living for a few years.

Despite that, she didn't let that interfere with her playtime with them as she genuinely had fun playing and getting to know them. Their bond with each other slowly strengthened, even between Tirana and Kyris, who had not played together much before they met Astraea. The two started treating Astraea like an older sibling, as despite being younger than them, she always maintained a level of maturity that allowed her to break up their fights, scold them when they do something bad, and teach them new and amazing things.

She had to reluctantly accept the two as her new 'younger siblings' which made the total count three. Yes, three, as there was one more younger sibling she had, Valkyrie.

Valkyrie had been learning more and more things under the tutelage of Astraea and early on, she had been taught to move without someone using their body as a controller. She first did this by assigning certain hand signals with certain actions, like finger-walking in the air represented walking, and moving her hand up and down represented jumping.

She quickly changed it out with the actual words of those actions after her success at having Valkyrie react to words.
She had found out from her grandma Vaena that there was a holographic settings menu that she could access that allowed her to tinker with Valkyrie's settings, or her body's settings more specifically.

She hadn't told her about this as she had assumed that Valkyrie couldn't read and that the default settings were sufficient for the time being. When asked about how she was going to use the settings, she told Vaena that she would ask for assistance from her parents.

That was a lie though, and she had started to tinker with the settings without her parent's knowledge.

There were all sorts of setting from changing her appearance with illusion magic, adjusting power output to her limbs, connection to the internet and all sorts of options and settings for functions she couldn't even imagine Valkyrie having.

After sifting through all the settings, she found the one she was looking for, Audio settings. The setting included Audio-Input as well, making it more convenient for her. She had first assumed that Valkyrie's audio input was currently inactive, effectively making her deaf, but she denied that possibility as it shouldn't be something so simple.

It was as she thought, as all the settings seemed normal and Valkyrie's hearing should be working. As she had gone straight to the Audio-Input settings, she hadn't properly checked the normal Audio settings and thus she went back to see if the problem lay there.

There she found an option that solved all her problems, Artificial Voice Settings. She had originally assumed that Valkyrie was able to speak looking at the default Audio Settings but looking at the Artificial Voice Settings, she knew that this wasn't the case.

Artificial voice settings had things like language options, different voice samples,
and something that literally said 'On/Off' with 'Off' currently lit up.

Astraea blinked twice when she saw that option and groaned in annoyance that it was due to something so simple. 

Without further ado, she switched the option on and tinkered with a few of the voice settings before closing the holographic menu as she wanted to test the results straight away.

"Valkyrie!" With the first word out of her mouth, she didn't expect to get any immediate results but that was exactly what she received, as a clear and slightly artificial voice repeated after her.

"Valkyrie!" The voice was that of a high pitched little girl as that was the voice Astraea had selected in the settings.

From that moment, Valkyrie's growth increased faster than it did previously, as the more words she knew of the better communication she had with Astraea, which allowed her to learn more and more.

During the year, Valkyrie had also been taught by Astraea's Parents, though she still learned more from Astraea. Though it wasn't that her Parent's were incompetent in teaching Valkyrie, but that they didn't have a lot of time to do so and only focused on things they thought Astraea couldn't teach, such as vocabulary, common knowledge about the world, and what was right and wrong.

Astraea was actually able to teach all those things except for knowledge about the world but decided to lessen how much she taught those subjects to focus on teaching Valkyrie other things.

On the matters of magic, there had been a lot of input as she had gained multiple sources of knowledge and ideas, namely her magic wand and her holowatch.

She had studied tried to study the flow of mana when using her magic wand and it had some decent returns. She was able to sense how the mana was shaped and changed for each function that her wand performed and it gave her some ideas.

She didn't think she would be able to make use of the spell formulas in the first place as she wouldn't know how to make sense out of it, and in the first place, she wouldn't be able to perform the spell due only having an affinity for Neutral Magic.

From the earth illusion where a chunk of dirt could be launched, she was able to learn how to condense her mana effectively and launch it as well, though it was only an illusion, the mana was not formless and followed a set path that Astraea was able to copy.

From the wind fan function, she was able to learn how to send out her mana in an expanded wave, similar to her telekinetic push but with a greater area of effect, but also weakening it. The unique thing about it was that she was able to constantly release her mana which created a 'blowing' effect similar to the fan function, though it greatly drained her mana.

She had also learned how to condense her mana by studying the mini wind blade function and it allowed her to create a more pinpointed and faster version of her telekinetic push, almost like a bullet, though the speed was far from it.

From the three functions that fire had, she was able to create a sort of bubble of mana that surrounds her, though she didn't know it does anything yet. She was able to create a more concentrated version of the 'blowing' effect from studying the flamethrower function and was able to create a string of mana that followed her hand and that she was able to control minimally by studying the fire-trail function.

From the sole bubble function for water, she had learned how to create concentrated pockets of mana that was able to stay in place, moving a certain distance away would make them pop like bubbles, and slightly disturbed the area around it like a mini-explosion. She had learned how to remotely detonate the mana pockets by sending out a small bullet of mana which popped them on impact.

She was sure there were more sophisticated ways of doing it but she couldn't figure it out and had to resort to that.
Her holowatch did have a lot of information like her grandpa Dagen said but a lot of it was just apps and information useful to teach kids and toddlers, she had no access to the internet whatsoever which frustrated her a little.

They were way more informational than apps on earth despite only using pictures and audio but were still only for kids and toddler so she was able to easily absorb all the information within a few days, her enhanced memory helped too as she only had to go through things once to remember.

Though a lot of the information was quite useless, some of it was exactly what she needed as it taught her the basics and common sense of the world like different countries, flora and fauna native to this world and more importantly, magic.

Though the apps didn't teach her how to use magic, it explained all there was to know about the basics of magic, from explaining the concept of magic, explanations of attributes and affinity, the history, and the applications of magic.

In the past, imagination was used to cast magic, and those with great instinct or had a greater imagination which in turn made them great mages. One's affinity with an attribute also affected your imagination with it as the higher the affinity the closer you are to the attribute which allowed you to have a greater imagination towards it.

With the age of industry, technology and science, came the age of formulaic and logical magic, where scientific laws and mathematical formulas were integrated into the imaginative process of magic, making spells stronger, more complicated and more precise than ever before.

It also introduced countless new attributes and forms of magic that the world had never heard of before, which greatly diversified magic into countless areas, and those once seen as talentless in magic or had a low affinity suddenly became magic prodigies due to having an amazing affinity with those newly discovered attributes.

Though even in this day and age, those with amazing instinct and imagination could still easily trump others who were talentless and using formulaic magic, that was how people usually determined talent in magic other than affinity.

It was one of the main reasons children start learning magic as early as possible, which was age four when their affinities are stabilized, to separate the good seeds from the bad ones. 

 All in all, besides all the new 'spells' she had learned from her magic wand, and a few others she had taught herself, she had increased her proficiency with her magic and was able to control the mana in her body subconsciously with little effort.

The two desires to make her voice cuter and make her skin flawless worked as expected, though a child's skin was nearly flawless in the first place. While she didn't notice her voice changing as she spoke everyday, as she consulted her memories, she could confirm that her voice had changed in some aspects, and did sound cuter than before.

She removed the desire for a cuter voice as she was satisfied with how it was now, and made the desire for flawless skin a little weaker as she still wanted to keep it and add other desires.

She added two new desires, one that would lessen her mental fatigue, and one that increased her metabolism, more than a child already has. Both desires were to increase her efficiency in going through her life as she didn't want to spend a single moment idle in the early stage of her life.

Her second birthday had passed and it wasn't too different from her first birthday, expect for being able to have more intelligent conversations with the adults and her close relationship with Tirana and Kyris.

She had received new presents as well but they couldn't trump the presents from last year seeing as how she got Valkyrie and her holowatch.

Dagen was very impressed with her growth when he had checked her holowatch, as all the teaching apps recorded her progress and all of them were at 100% completion.

Though she spent the majority of the year with Kyris and Tirana, she did meet up with her grandparents from time to time and aunt Kaelie came to her house quite frequently too.

Grandpa Dagen was the person she saw the least as he seemed to have his schedule packed and every time he was able to see her, he wouldn't ask about her growth or progress, so she didn't mention it either. 

As a reward for exceeding his expectations, he unlocked more features and functions on her holowatch than he originally planned to, or at least that's what he said, and she was pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of the new functions and features. 

The birthday party seemed more lively as her relations with her relatives and friends had increased and she could say that it surpassed her first birthday in terms of interactions. Just the day after, she immediately went to ask her parents if she could attend preschool. 

Though she wasn't idle for the past two years as she had been constantly improving herself and learning about her new world, as well as enjoying her childhood, she had become impatient just a couple months ago and wanted a change of pace, one that would advance her learning and growth.

Preschool was the best choice as it was the earliest form of schooling she could take, attending preschool when she was just a year and a few months old did seem absurd and suspicious to her so she decided to go for the next best thing, attending when she just turned two. 

Though two still seemed too young, she knew that preschool was all based on the child's development and she could just pass off as a highly intelligent child, which she was. Though her parents were originally reluctant as they wanted to enroll her much later, at least three years old, her constant begging and puppy eyes eventually made them relent.

She couldn't help but think that her Cute Charm ability was finally able to be put to use against her parents, who were already spoiling her a lot and answering to her every whim.

Two weeks later, Astraea was now standing infront of her new school, and she couldn't wait for all the new things she'll get to learn.

"Astraea, honey? You've been staring at your new school for quite some time now, everything alright?" Paela asked, wondering if Astraea had become nervous.

Astraea snapped out of her thoughts, realizing that she had been dazing off thinking about the past year, she gave a bright smile to her mom and answered. 

"Nothing wrong, just excited!" 

With that, she ran ahead of her two parents as she looked forward to the things to come.

I must say, I'm very surprised that this book managed to become pretty successful. With 2.2k reads now and running in 6 months, that's a milestone I haven't completed yet in Wattpad with 500+. I'll like to heavily thank for you guys' support here!

To give some proper context, I'm actually much more active in Wattpad. Having to use it for 4 years. I only decided to publish Elemental Drifters here just to open up on the Webnovel market and to test the waters without much high expectations. 

So I was very astonished to find out my book was doing way better here. And which that has led me to need of a major announcement here.

First off, the counterpart of the book published here on this platform is not the full version. I actually prepared and readily tuned soundtracks for this book to further amplify the reading immersion. Unfortunately, as of right now, only Wattpad had this feature of tagging in YouTube videos on the top of each chapter to allow for an audio visual reading experience. I know its very wrong to do this (advertising other reading platforms here) but I also really don't want you readers to miss out on this additional content I worked hard for (video/music editing) on par with my writing. So if you have the time, please do note that you can go to Wattpad and check out full version of The Elemental Drifters: Awakening there. 

Secondly, some fonts such as Bold, Italics or Underline, are not available here. That of which makes a bit of a challenge for me since I like to use different fonts to show the different aspects of a scene (Like character's thoughts, voices in a phone call, conversations in a flashback.. etc). I have to make do for it and modify some of my text when porting it from Wattpad (I write on Wattpad). So I heavily apologize if some of my wording look confusing or such.

Lastly, my original intensions of this version on Webnovel is publishing one chapter as soon as I finished writing one apposed to Wattpad where I publish 5 to 6 chapters at a time for double-checks.

Initially I never gave too much attention on this platform and thought to publish here just to see how things would go. In the end, you guys here proved to me that you want to see my writing which I'm very grateful to.

At the centre of human space, there was a specific planet that enjoyed wealth and spoils that put even the capital planets of the intergalactic governments to shame.
Multiple spacecrafts of all shapes and sizes from carriers and flagships to corvettes and destroyers, remained in high orbit around the planet.
Many of these ships were either warping in or out of the planet's orbit while many others docked at one of the numerous 'spacedock' stations that hovered barely above the planet's atmosphere at low orbit.
Beneath the layer of ships and spacedocks, there was a forest of skyscrapers that reached into the skies. Some were commercial buildings or establishments, some were agricultural greenhouses or farmlands, most were housing complexes.
The planet's original habitats and environments were destroyed long ago, instead replaced with endless labyrinths of sky-high buildings.
Yet despite that, the skies and air of the planet were clear and unpolluted, the result of the multiple years of carefully planned reclamation and development.
This planet was known as 'Earth,' the original homeworld of the human race.
Although the surface of the Earth was ravaged and destroyed many times over during the course of human history, it was through the combined efforts of all the human nations that their beloved homeland was in the state it is now.
A true testament to human ingenuity, persistence and perseverance, the Earth was reclaimed even from the ashes of an apocalyptic nuclear war.
As the capital and only planet of the Intergalactic Human Confederation, the Earth is the 'heart' of all of human space.
Thus, Earth has enjoyed wealth and luxuries imported from every corner of human space and its citizens consisted almost exclusively of wealthy bureaucrats and entrepreneurs while droid labour replaced humans for 'menial' tasks.
Despite only officially laying claim to Earth, the I.T.C. actually virtually controls all of human space by proxy through its member nations, albeit said member nations are granted full self-autonomy as long as they don't violate Confederate constitution.
Although membership within the Confederation is only optional, there has yet to be any incidents of any nations leaving the Confederation since its establishment.
This was very likely to be because of concerns of the nation's safety and stability should they leave the Confederation.
Not only will they no longer benefit from the trade perks brought through being a member of the Confederation but they will also no longer be protected by Confederate constitution which prevents large-scale conflicts between human nations.
In the worst case scenario, the other human nations will take advantage of the nation leaving the Confederation and promptly invade and annex the aforementioned leaving and 'unprotected' nation.
But perhaps even more importantly than safety and stability among the human nations, membership within the Confederation means that the different nations can keep their national identities while still standing united under one flag against the-
"Filthy xenos!"
Within a gigantic spherical space-station in low orbit around Earth, a general assembly consisting of representatives from every human nation was currently being held.
The one currently speaking was a representative of the United Planets of America who stood on an elevated stage in front of all the other assembly attendees.
"Every year the very existence of hostile xenos has threatened this rich soil that we stand on today! The Earth itself, the symbolic heart of humanity is also vulnerable to hostile xeno incursions."
The U.P.A.'s representative; William Shaw spoke with clear strength in his voice in the face of countless amounts of people.
"Every day, countless American lives are lost on countless American planets in the war against the filthy xenos and yet the Confederation and their 'mighty' Confederate Army stands idly by and does nothing!"

"Who is he trying to fool? We aren't the same idiotic Americans that voted him into power. Honestly, Shaw really does give the Americans a bad name."
Amidst Shaw's speech, one of its attendees who stood off to the sides, the head of the Psionic Assault and Intelligence divisioN; Arthur 'Allen' Cray couldn't help but voice his opinion.

Multiple ships of various sizes docked on the various landing pads on and spread around the fortress, either dropping off goods and luxuries or picking up resources mined from the asteroid to be exported.
Other than the landing pads and the fortress, there were also multiple buildings spread around the asteroid forming a sort of maze that enclosed the fort.
All of these establishments sold various different kinds of goods, however, despite the variety of goods, they all shared one thing in common.
They were all illegal goods.
This place was known as 'The Lawless Paradise;' a 'civilised market for those whose occupation is legally ambiguous.'
Many different kinds of men filled the streets of the market, all of them looking to buy goods deemed illegal by the human nations.
Whether it be simple drugs and slaves to military grade weapons and hardware, one could find virtually anything they need as long as they know where to look.
And from the highest tower of the fortress, Garren 'Gold-eyes' Collows stood with both hands behind his back near the glass wall that gave him a gorgeous view of the market bellow him.
Apart from him there we also eleven other other men in the room, all of whom were slightly visible in the reflection of the mirror. Everyone, excluding Garren was wearing a light exo-suit.
Nevertheless, Garren didn't pay much attention to his loyal guards and instead focused his attention on 'enjoying the view.'
Garren liked watching over his 'empire' as it often reminded him not only of his family's legacy that he inherited but also of his diligent hard work that ensured the continuation of said family legacy.

"One of our cruiser ships, the Chromata suffered heavy casualties during a standard kidnapping operation, sir. Every single strike team they deployed was eliminated with only the crew and reserves remaining."
Garren continued to stare out the window and didn't even bother to face his subordinate as the latter recounted his report.
"Apart from the loss of life, we estimate that these loses costed us about thirty to forty million credits from the training, equipment and weapons."
As the subordinate spoke, Garren was able to sense a tinge of anxiety in his voice.
"Although these loses don't mean too much in the grand scheme of things, there were some... troubling implications."
Garren still continued to stare out the window as he questioned the subordinate.
"Troubling implications?"
The man hesitated for a moment before he responded, his voice audibly more nervous than before.
"Y-yes sir. Although none of the strike teams returned for a debriefing, we were able to salvage some of their communication chatter. It is not much but it gives us an idea of what happened."
This time, Garren turned around to face the subordinate before proceeding to give him an order.
"Very well. Let us listen to it."
The subordinate that Garren gave the order to; Rolland was only young man who was probably only is his early twenties.
Yet despite that, he has risen up the ranks to be able to personally meet Garren face to face, a privilege granted to only the most esteemed members of the Velsulis Family.
As such, Garren was slightly wary of the audio that was able to unnerve someone as talented as Rolland.
Nevertheless, Rolland still complied with Garren's order.
"As you wish."
As Rolland spoke he pressed a button on the left gauntlet of his exo-suit, quickly bringing up a holographic screen for everyone to see. The bar sound visualiser that appeared on the screen remained idle with no sounds being played.
"Most of the audio was corrupted due to unknown reasons, the following sound clip is only a compilation of the least corrupted files in chronological order."
Garren would only wave his hand to display his opinion.
In response, Rolland sighed and took a deep breath before he pressed another button, the visualiser beginning to move as sounds played.
"This is Oskar of Team Tint, confirming successful infiltration."
"Team Tint has gone dark. Requesting permission to investigate."
"This is Rhed of Team Primary, we have encountered an-"
 "This is Blu of Team Primary! Requesting any nearby units for support! I repeat! This is Blu of Team Primary! Requesting imme-"
"This is Griens of Team Secondary, requesting for evac on stan-"
"Multiple teams have gone dark! I repeat multiple teams have gone dar-"
"TARGET PSIONIC IS EXTREMELY POTENT AND DANGEROUS! I REPEAT TARGET PSIONIC IS EXTREMELY POTENT AND DANG-"
The entire room was filled with silence the moment the audio clips stopped playing.
Despite that, Garren knew that everyone present was probably thinking the same thing.
Just what sort of monster did the Chromata strike teams discover?

At another corner of human space, another spacecraft has only just completed the warping process, a singular blue light exploded out of seemingly nowhere before the aforementioned spacecraft materialised within the blue lights.
However, the architecture and design of this spacecraft wasn't like that of the humans, appearing very foreign, exotic and to most human experts 'impractical' in design.
Within this strange spacecraft, there was also a cylindrical room that also that inherited ship's exotic aesthetic.
Inside this cylindrical room was a single woman who hovered in the exact middle of the room with her eyes closed and her legs crossed.
She had silky pale-blue hair which matched her light blue robe and flowed down to the bottom half of her waist.
But her most distinguishing feature was her pair of pointy ears.
Soon, her moment of solitude and silence was interrupted by a man who walked into the room before kneeling down and speaking out loud.
"Your grace, we have entered human space."
Like the woman, the man had pale blue albeit short hair coupled with pointed ears.
In response to the man, the woman opened her eyes before slowly drifting down to the floor and standing in front of the kneeling man.
"Excellent. With this we are now one step closer to salvation."
A look of contentment and happiness grew on the womans face as she spoke.
"The salvation of our people, the salvation of the Elvnari, approaches."

Space.
An infinite expanse filled to the brim with both endearing beauties and unthinkable terrors.
In a day and age far beyond into the future, psionically gifted and/or cybernetically enhanced individuals walk the streets as daily citizens.
Humanity has succeeded in colonising entire solar systems and yet the inlying faults of humanity still remain.
Bandits and marauders roam backwater worlds, where the reach of the human interstellar nations are waning, giving them free reign to do as they please.
On top of this, the notions of jealousy and rivalries still continued to persist within humanity as they brought the rivalries and feuds from Earth and into the stars.
However, dangerous bandits and warring human nations aren't the only thing to fear in this 'new world.'
Humanity isn't the only species to reach the stars.
Alien species with queer or odd physicalities and strange cultures threaten humanity at every turn.
And far beyond them, there are the Cosmic Horrors whose very existence was enough to threaten entire solar systems.
And yet, there was a threat greater still than the Cosmic Horrors comparable to that of Gods.
And that was a mere human.
A mere human with an idea.



A brewing storm was forming in both the mind and eyes of the Commander. His job was seemingly becoming difficult each day, all thanks to the rebels who were also proving to be a nuisance each time. He was set, prepared and ready to hand over the mantle of leadership to his second-in-command, so he could retire and finally recover all the quality time he missed out on with his family. However, the likelihood of that ever happening was now faint. 

 

“And what is the cause of this particular uprising this time around?” he questioned. 

 

“Commander, I don’t think this information should be disclosed in public,” the enforcer uttered, referring to the fact that they had company. The Commander stole a glance at the crowd and twirled a moustache with his hand, as though he was in a deep thought. 

 

“For once, I think you’re right,” the Commander voiced, making his newest recruit bob his head. “Follow me.” 

 

He halted in his steps and walked back to where Livingstone stood with Millenia beside him. He pushed her lightly behind him when he caught sight of the man approaching them once again. 

 

“I’ve got my eyes on you, boy. Nothing, and I mean – nothing escapes me,” the Commander uttered slowly, his minty breath fanned his face. 

 

Seeing the unperturbed expression on his face; he gave him a death stare and walked away. 

 

“Are you okay?” Livingstone asked as he turned to Millenia when the man was out of sight. 

 

“I should be asking you that instead. That miniature egoistic man just threatened you.” 

 

He chortled. 

 

“Don’t allow yourself to stress over that. I’m sure they do that just to watch us cower in fear in their presence, and with the recent increase in the uprisings; we are bound to see more of such actions from their end.” Millenia nodded in understanding and sighed. They left the station afterwards, neither of them bothered to spare a look behind them.

Enforcers bowed their heads low in respect as their Commander passed by them with Ephrey behind his trail. He stamped into the thin disposable paper structure which served as his tent with a scowl on his face. He turned suddenly, and gestured to the young man who stood at his entrance when he realized that the sounds of his boots compressed against the deep green grass underneath them had paused. Ephrey scurried into the tent, with his hands interlocked behind him; he wasted no time in absorbing the inside view of this supreme commander’s tent. 

 

Unlike his tent which housed a cushioned mat, a few of his belongings and a shelf full of Taser guns; the Commander’s tent was semi-furnished with a bed, a medium height closet of which he assumed contained his belongings, an office desk with a chair matching it’s dull grey colour, and a shelf full of Taser guns and other weaponries which sat at the furthest corner of his tent. 

 

The Commander placed his helmet carelessly on his desk and the sound that erupted from the contact drew Ephrey’s attention as he turned his gaze in the direction of his superior. 

 

“So, what are you waiting for? Tell me, what update do you have for me concerning the sudden uprising in the Equinox Unit?” The Commander trudged to his seat and sat down. He laid his head back on the headrest and cast his cold eyes toward Ephrey’s direction. 

 

Ephrey brought down his helmet and positioned it at his side. His chocolate brown eyes flitted over his superior once more before he cleared his throat and spoke, “According to the report of Lud Maverj, the commander-in- charge stationed at the Justice Unit; there’s been a leakage of information on one of the past records of The Council. The information which comes in the form of an audio was initially aired in the Unit’s main district. From sources, Head Minister, Ileane Bolts did her best in slowing down the rate at which this information was channeled between the other twenty-nine districts in her Unit by cutting down all forms of communication, but it seems this plan of hers backfired because we have more civilians demanding answers each day.” 

 

The Commander positioned his elbows on the desk, tilted his head down, and began to rub circles on his forehead. 

 

“And what information is that? Also, why is this now being reported to me, especially when it seems to me that things are already getting out of hand in that Unit.” 

 

“I have no idea, Sir. But what I do know is that, whoever leaked this information did so on the grounds of adding more fuel the already existing flames. Moreover, I believe that the reason why you weren’t informed about this earlier was because the commander-in-charge was hoping to tame the growing suspicions of the civilians with the help of the Unit’s Head Minister.” 

 

 

“I hate it when--” The commander was interrupted from continuing his statement when the ontel wrapped around his left wrist began to vibrate. He turned his wrist to his focus and cussed under his breath when he saw that it was his superior calling. 

 

“Leave,” he ordered. 

 

Ephrey nodded and hid his face behind his helmet once more before making an exit. Breathing in large amounts of air and exhaling it through his mouth, he forced a smile on his face and composed himself before tapping on a button to accept the call. 

 

“Chancellor Vince,” he greeted as soon as the two-dimensional photographic image popped up in his view. “I believe you’re calling to be updated on how things are being handled here in the Central Unit.” 

 

He received no response. Though he was fully aware that the Chancellor was listening, through the stoic penetrating gaze that was solely focused on him in his tent. 

 

“Civilians in this Unit are –” 

 

“Exactly seven years ago -- a recorded audio containing all the viable information on the truth behind the research and development of the deadly GM9 virus which was used for its agenda in wiping out the entire population in the Regrev Unit was missing. You were tasked by The Council to find that audio and get rid of it, including any other thing linked to it. So, now tell me -- what exactly happened to that audio you claimed you got rid of, Decimus?” The Chancellor cut in. His expression was void of all emotions as he spoke in a deadly calm manner. His pretense was masked under a calm disguise. 

 

Decimus laid his eyes on the stunning background view of the Capital that projected itself behind The Chancellor’s blinding white office through the photographic image, as he was forced to reminisced the sins of his past. Though he did not invent the virus per se, he considered himself a murderer. A murderer who partook in the massacre of hundreds of lives – all in the name of saving the earth for a better future. As the supreme commander, he was in charge of making sure that deadly DNA induced virus was successfully distributed into the clean atmosphere of the Regrev Unit, thus polluting the air of its inhabitants in the process. 

 

The first prototype exceeded their expectations when it swept the population of an entire district within a month, and within a week -- the others were released into the remaining districts. The worst part came in, when on the orders of The Council; he had to order the assassination of all nineteen scientists who helped develop the virus. Still under their orders; his team was forced to burn down every facility that could someday trace a link to their research in the nearby future – but the one thing that could go against The Council and himself in the future was never found: a recording of the unfiltered truth. 

 

The leader of the research team did a good job in hiding her own recording, and he, Marcus -- had no other option but to make her young son pay for her silence and stubbornness. 

 

“You filthy scumbag!” The Chancellor exclaimed, startling the toughened man in the process. “You proved disloyal to The Council the very day you lied to our faces about the audio. You actually had the gut to tell us you found it and burnt it whereas you never did. What do you take us for? A bunch of morons like yourself and your team of enforcers?” 

 

“Chancellor –” 

 

“I’m going to give you a second chance to correct your mistake as I clean your filthy mess,” he seethed. “Find me that person who had the audacity to release the audio, and I would forget your mistake. Until then, you no longer hold this position because you’ve officially been demoted from your rank. Imbecile!” 

 

Before Decimus’ lips could utter a word, the call ended abruptly. A deep realization of what just happened washed over him as he stared into the thin air with his mouth agape. 

 

Demoted He murmured the foreign word under his breath and slumped against his chair.

In a false utopia, the Earth's population is divided into five Units after a disturbing decimation forced the human race to be on the verge of extinction. The increase in man's population competes with the upgrade in advanced technology. With past secrets hidden from the eyes of civilians, they are oblivious to what goes on around them. 

Like every other individual in his Unit, 19-year-old Livingstone is determined to stay true to his dreams and have them fulfilled. Crestfallen by the sudden disappearance of his mother, his unbending character remains firm. 

His growing suspicions toward the Heads of Earth's administration: The Council - is justified when he finds himself entangled in their twisted agenda, which seeks to wipe a quarter of Earth's growing population. Bent on exposing the deed of the opposition, he takes actions which might determine who lives, and who dies. 

"Ooh, that's some good footage." There had been two changelings prepared for this session. Initially, they had merely camouflaged themselves, but as soon as attention turned to fighting, they reverted forms. They didn't need to be human to work cameras. Each had a tripod with a high-speed camera. With two angles, they had captured everything.
Just a little editing to cut them together, clear up the audio, maybe some music, and this was going to be a gem.
But that would have to wait for later. Kai turned his attention to Deku. He looked a little scared and worried. Not for himself- he was looking in the direction Bakugo had gone.
"You think I was a little hard on your friend?"
"Kacchan-"
"Let me stop you right there, Stockholm." Kai didn't want to hear any excuses. And hearing the nickname used, he felt his stomach flip. That was very personal and intimate, for someone who had a habit of both physical and verbal abuse. Deku was just too nice a person, to treat Bakugo like that despite, him being, well, Bakugo.
Maybe that could be fixed.
"Today isn't about him. In fact, I think that nothing is ever about him. It will be for his health if he learns that. Not all of that was taunts. If I'm not mistaken, there wasn't anyone at his level before coming here, was there?"
"Ah, um… I guess so," Deku said. Now that he thought about it, he'd never seen somebody give Bakugo a hard time.
"Yeah, people like him will be brimming with confidence. I guess you weren't there for it yesterday, but I'm sure you know that many heroes die in their first years on the job. If Bakago doesn't learn he will join them just because he overlooks someone weak whose power is more than enough to destroy him. I could give a six-year-old a gun, and he'd be just as dead as if he went against a powerful villain.
"But enough of that. Tell me, how does it feel to go from Quirkless to holding All Might's power?" Kai led Deku over to the grass to sit down. "Yagi-san did tell you that I know your secret, right?"
"Y-yeah. Ummm… can I ask how you knew? All Might didn't explain much." Deku said nervously.
"You are someone who likes watching heroes and their Quirks, you tell me," Kai said with a grin.
"B-but we were trying to hide it! People-"
"That is why you failed." Kai said with mock sagacity, stroking an immaterial beard. "Never underestimate a geek in a story-like situation. You still haven't answered the question."
"W-well… it's crazy. I still can't believe it, sometimes. And now that I have this power, I have to live up to All Might's expectations, and become a great hero!" Deku's eyes shone with determination.
"Well, I think you are well on you way to being a hero. You already know something a great hero was known for- that 'with great power comes great responsibility.' Or you could call it 'noblesse oblige,' the responsibility of the powerful towards those who have no power. Bakago appears to think that the world should worship him for having sparky sparky boom fingers. Tch.
"Anyways, let's talk about using your Quirk. Controlling it. What has All Might taught you? Let's see if we can pick up the pace." Kai put his hands together in an attentive position.
"Um, after I used it for the first time in the entrance exam, he told me that the key was the sensation of it. That I had to remember that feeling and recreate it. It was like …" Deku had a little light in his eyes as he talked about his conversation with All Might, egg in a microwave example and all.
Meanwhile, the more Deku talked, the opposite happened to Kai. "So, he just said to lower the timer and the wattage, and things would work out eventually?" He picked his ears, hoping he was hearing wrong.
"Y-yes?" Deku realized that Kai's mood had shifted.
"Out of curiosity, do you have his number?" Kai was sure he would. "Could you please call him for me?"
Deku didn't see where this was going, so he did so. After All Might picked up, Kai snatched the phone from Deku's hands.
"You are an idiot, and you should know that some time during the next week, a random person you pass on the street will smack you upside the back of your head," Kai said as he hung up and passed the phone back to a shocked Deku.
"By Iroh's rancid sandals, you have a terrible mentor." Kai pressed on the bridge of his nose to suppress a rising headache. "I'm going to need to ask him, but I'd wager that he had no problem getting used to… I just realized that I don't know what your Quirk is called, so I'll just call it the Inheritance. He has no idea how it works. I have no problem with your image, if that was your sensation of the power, but he literally just told you to explode yourself, but not as strong. That's just…"
Kai sighed. It wasn't going to be hard to track All Might and have a changeling tail him and carry out his threat, was he going to threaten the most powerful and popular hero in Japan every single day?
Actually, thinking about it, did he even get a teaching license? Kai sent the changeling that had been doing housekeeping in the apartment to do some book shopping. "Teaching for Dummies" sounded like a good start. All Might could probably use it. No wonder he had so many problems.
"Okay, let's start this over again. Figuring out a new Quirk is almost nothing like that. That might work for something that is simply on or off, but you want to control your strength so that it doesn't reduce your bones to dust like that. You just can't keep doing that. There are only so many times that you can go from having bones to having dust in your arms and then get healed back. I'm amazed that you managed the precision that got you through Aizawa's test with such instruction.
"You do need to think about the first time you used it, but you are thinking about the wrong things. Think about the process. Think about where the power came from. How you directed it. You find that pathway, and you broaden it."
"What do you mean broaden it? My problem is that too much power comes out and it destroys me! Wait, before that, why do you think you can teach me how to learn a new Quirk?" Deku suddenly realized what had been bothering him with this whole situation. Things were crazy enough without Kai being involved.
"Did you hear from the class about my Quirk? The things that Ayako told them?" Kai said with a wicked grin. "Think about it for a little while."
Deku thought about it, resting his chin on his fist. After a little while, his eyes widened. There was no way, was there? By the time he looked to Kai to ask, the latter's smile had turned sly. With a flourish, Kai snapped his fingers. As he did so, two little candle-like flames appeared over his fingers.
"So, want to listen to me for a little longer?"

Well, who expected this crossover?
Kaisei Oguchi is a teenager with a troubled past and a powerful Quirk- he can summon the ever adapting Swarm of the Starcraft universe to do his will. Trying to make the best use of it, and with a plan that he has shared with nobody, not even his most trusted sister, he enters UA with the intent to become the greatest hero, like no one ever was. Oh. And a side of revenge. Revenge is nice, too.
Expect him to be a little dark. In control of one of the greatest weapons of a cosmos, who wouldn't be? Who is safe from his wrath? Not even All Might will escape unscathed.

If I upload slowly, I'm sorry. I'm just a beginning writer with too many ideas and not enough experience writing. This and Marvelwatch are attempts to fix that problem . 
There is the possibility of me purposely withholding uploads to torture people under the Alcatraz Imperative. (I'm a big Sanderson fan.) But don't expect that too much.

At this moment, broadcasted on the virtual display screen of the restaurant was the grand ceremony held for the rescued soldiers in Cato City. At the moment the broadcast showed the descent of the transport ships, a journalist on the scene looked at the camera and said excitingly, “Look! The transport ships filled with the heroes of the Federation have safely descended. This is truly a moment that makes one excited! The Leray Federation is here to welcome the heroic men and women.”
The camera panned over towards the faces of those rescued soldiers, showing their feeling of anxiety, their expectations, and their gratification. Uncontrollable tears began rolling down their faces.
In the scene, Colonel Peter had even walked out of the transport ship with a slight stagger. The audio system within the restaurant suddenly erupted with loud sounds of cheering, frightening Fatty for a moment. When he looked up and saw what was happening on the virtual display screen, he could not help but laugh. That time when he was seated in the transport ship, he had even rejected Peter’s invitation and had pushed him out.
At this moment when he saw the recorded scene, he had some unfathomable feeling as if time had rewound in front of his eyes.
The camera turned over to a huge display screen beside the entrance of the ship, and on it were huge words written for the introduction of Colonel Peter.
The welcoming party shouted out, “Peter! You are our hero!”
The camera zoomed in onto Peter as his lips trembled so much that he could not speak; it was a truly moving scene. Another colonel who wore the same uniform as Peter walked up to him and gave him a big hug as he tried to hold back his tears.
Choking sounds of emotions could be heard by the side of the journalist as he said, “Welcoming Colonel Peter is his best friend. They have been serving in the same unit for more than ten years. He is a true comrade of Colonel Peter.”
The hug between the two soldiers were truly resolute and fiery. When they separated, that colonel took two steps back before giving a firm salute. His voice was extraordinary clear when he said, “I have almost lost my best friend! The Federation had almost lost one of her most outstanding soldiers. Colonel Peter, we welcome you back!”
As the camera showed Peter returning the salute, tears finally started flowing down from his eyes. He wiped it off as soon as possible, yet tears continued flowing as he wiped them resolutely. He was trying to control his emotions as he continued to rub his eyes to the point of a slight red soreness.
The camera continued recording the scenes faithfully, showing how the audience was crying in pain. This was a true soldier, one who was willing to bleed but not cry. A true and resolute soldier!
The camera pulled in onto the welcoming Federation soldiers who were in a phalanx formation as long trails of tears flowed down from their eyes. Despite the tears, they stood solemnly and respectfully; akin to hundreds of strong pine trees, they were neat and dignified.
In front of the square-shaped formation was a row of strict generals, the youngest among which already had white hair. The stars on their epaulets that signified their ranks of general were sparkling, yet they stood there just like ordinary soldiers, in a proper military attention posture without any movement at all.
Standing right at the forefront of the square formation was none other than the commanding officer, General Bernadotte. Raising his chest upwards and tipping his head, he shouted, “Soldiers… Salute!”
With a “Shua!”, the formation saluted in such an orderly manner that it brought forth the might and heroic feeling that represented the nation’s power and emotions, causing others to tremble in their hearts.
General Bernadotte’s voice suddenly reverberated in the airport once the audience started quieting down, “Colonel Peter! The Federation’s soldiers are proud of you!”
Tian Xing Jian watched Peter returning the gesture with solemn and respect as this soldier, who had made great contributions for the group of escapees, shouted out two words in a trembling voice:
“Thank you!”
Tian Xing Jian lowered his head. His eyes were kind of red, and he was truly happy that he could bring them back.
The audio system from the restaurant broadcasted the sound of the journalist at the scene, “The comrades of the hero are currently paying their respects to Peter. Seeing this group of soldiers, we truly believe that the war will definitely end one day with a mighty victory for the Leray Federation. With such loyal soldiers, nobody would be able to defeat us. With such fearless soldiers like Colonel Peter, the Federation will definitely triumph!”
Afterwards, soldier after soldier appeared on the screen as the welcoming ceremony continued to be shown on the virtual display screen.
Milan looked towards Tian Xing Jian, asking him softly, “Where were you at that time?”
Tian Xing Jian knew that this good friend of Ni Ya certainly knew of what he had done. Looking up at the display screen, he laughed, “See that? I’m there!”
The camera was currently showing an exit of the transport ship with a female soldier running towards her loved ones. This female soldier embraced her parents, crying just like raindrops on a pear blossom [1]. Many guests within the restaurants could not help but tear at this scene.
However, Milan had looked towards the area pointed by Fatty, laughing uncontrollably. At the side of the transport ship, there was a figure running away sneakily.
The two were laughing at the screen when a voice came, “Stand up! Why are you two still sitting down?”
Tian Xing Jian and Milan looked back in astonishment, only to realize that a group of males and females of about their age had come to the side of their table. They did not know when this group had come over.
Speaking with an arrogant expression was a nobleman who took extra care when selecting the best clothes.
Seeing the two in a daze, the nobleman continued, “How could a trivial first lieutenant and a woman lacking in sympathy who jeers at our heroes even be worth this seat? Get out! We don’t welcome people like you two!”
That sentence was truly sharp. Milan could not help but refute, “Are you blind? Who is jeering at who? What qualifications do you have to chase us away?”
A beautiful miss, who wore the most fashionable clothing, held onto that nobleman’s hand before coldly saying, “Mills over here is the young master of this Si Mai Restaurant.”
The moment she said that, the group of young teenagers sneered towards Fatty and Milan, causing Mills became even more proud of himself.
So it turns out that Millis’ father was currently entertaining some important guests. Millis had originally wanted to participate in the event; however, as he was hot-tempered and has a reckless behavior, he was grounded at home. But how could he just stay home and not do anything? Thus, he invited a group of friends to the restaurant in search for a seat.
Who would have thought that the small hall was full, and even his usual seat was taken by some important guests. Feeling that he would lose his reputation in front of his friends, Mills had walked towards the table which he frequented the most, wanting to find out who exactly was having their meal here. Who would have guessed that instead of finding some familiar-looking officers or noble uncles and aunties, the people he had found were just a trivial army first lieutenant and a woman. Right when he was feeling annoyed, he saw the two of them laughing at the screen. Borrowing that as the reason, he started his plan to chase the two away. 
Hearing that woman’s words, Tian Xing Jian could not hold his anger as he taunted back, “The young master of Si Mai Restaurant is a person of such character? Chasing the guests out?”
That nobleman Mills said in despise, “Let’s not talk about a first lieutenant, even if it’s a lieutenant colonel, if I want him to get lost, then he can only obediently listen to my orders.”
Tian Xing Jian was truly angered this time. Placing his hands in front of his chest, he rubbed it wretchedly and refuted in a provoking tone, “Ah ah, what if I don’t want to go? Are you going to bite me?”

What is a Battle Mecha engineer expected to do? Are they expected to do research and realize their imagination? 

How about a Battle Mecha pilot? Are they expected to enter battle with their mechas as they display their exquisite control through bizarre and bewildering techniques? 

What about a member of the special scouts? Are they expected to infiltrate deep into the enemy lines as they use stellar unarmed fighting skills to suppress the enemy with a single move? Or are they expected to make use of disguises and stealth techniques to take out the enemy?
