I dreaded the upcoming next week. Why you may ask? Well, next week is the fabled graduation for seniors at Kingdom High School, which is where I, Kogen Yoshino, attend. Kingdom High School was a decently sized school that my parents decided to enroll me in when I was a freshman. My parents wanted to move away from Japan and move to the United States for a myriad of reasons. One, it was too crowded. We lived in Tokyo. Second, the rent for the apartment we stayed in was starting to become a problem. My mom and dad's measly salary combined could not pay for even half the rent. We could've relocated, but my mom and dad decided not to since they were sick of the depressing atmosphere that was Japan. Third, my dad, mom, and I wanted to go to the United State because we heard from passing relatives that there were a lot of job opportunities and affordable apartments over there.
And so, we boarded a plane using some of our savings and flew to the United States. After going through the immigration process, we settled down at one of my dad's friends house. My mom found a job as an accountant within the next few weeks. My dad also found a job as a video game designer for some video game company. My dad, in particular, is awesome. He introduced me to video games and made me appreciate games a lot more then I used to. He is a total nerd when it comes to video games but becomes super embarrassed whenever I mention it.
When I moved to Kingdom High School, I really had trouble with making friends as I was never fluent or good at all with English. Throughout the years leading to senior year, I learned a lot more English and got better at it. I could communicate fluently with English by the end of junior year and I made a couple of awesome friends. My best buds were Zach, Bruno, and Robert. These three guys made the new American high school experience enjoyable, and they really helped with introducing the culture in the United States to me. We also always played games together every day after school. One of our favorites was Raid Online. It was an MMORPG game playable on PC and Console. It was a game with dungeons, magic, pvp, and more. The gameplay content was immense and there was no end in the fun it generated when my friends and I would enter a dungeon. This was my first introduction to MMORPG games.
Anyways, coming back to the original topic, graduation was coming up next week for seniors at Kingdom High School. I dreaded this because I was a senior at Kingdom High School with no goal in life. I spent most of my years playing games with my friends. They had already chosen a career to go towards in their life. Zach wanted to be a pilot, Bruno wanted to be a civil engineer, and Robert wanted to be an actor. One of the careers that I wanted to pursue was professional gaming. I've had my share of competitive gaming when I joined an event hosted by Raid Online which was to get the most kills in a special Christmas dungeon within 24 hours. As this was during Christmas break, I had nothing better to do and grinded this event. Little did I know, I was competing against the top 10 PVP players in Raid Online to get the most kills. 
The mechanics in Raid Online was pretty complex. Mostly everything in the environment (including inside dungeons) could be used to your advantage. I experimented with this mechanic for years before this event even started and loved it. You could make countless things using this mechanic. I came up with a genius trap where one of my skill abilities, a taunting drone, would fly around mobs in the dungeon and lead them to one big trap. One may be thinking, "Isn't this what most players would do?" Well, the twist here is that the taunting drone eventually goes on a cooldown of 2 hours. This would be extremely detrimental in a 24-hour grind fest to kill the most mobs. So, I decided to do two traps. The mobs in this dungeon were intentionally made dumb. However, they were tanks and had a crap ton of health. I made a trap to lure in the mobs into this hidden hole I made. The mobs would try to get out of the hole and fail. And so, what is the most logical way to get out? For these mobs (which were tanky goblins), it was to call for help. This is where the second trap comes in. I use the mob's help call to lure in even more goblins. They don't even realize it's a trap and drop into the hole. I waited for around 3 hours per time and killed the goblins in the hole using a bucket of lava I had in my inventory. After this, I just drain the lava (as simple as clicking a button) and restart the process. By the end of the event, I completely decimated the top 10 PVP players I was talking about by thousands of mob kills. I obtained the special event item which was a set of one of a kind Santa-Claus cosmetic armor and 1 million silver, which was the currency used in Raid Online. After the event, I was swarmed with private messages; some questioned how I did it and some straight-up denied my legitimacy and accused me of cheating. It was bothersome but luckily there was an option to turn off private messages.
My friends were amazed when I told them the tactic I used. They said that they would've never thought of it and that I was a complete troll for eating snacks, taking naps, and watching YouTube videos in between the 24-hour session.
Sadly, Raid Online closed just a few months into my senior year and I no longer had a strong connection with my three friends. They had all moved on from games and told me that games were childish and it was only just for fun. Sure, it was just for fun. But it was the only way for me to have fun with friends and by my self. I was pained by their response when I said that I would be pursuing a career in professional gaming. They said that I would never make it. And, I felt like I wouldn't. The chances of me being even in the professional scene were slim. I didn't have any actual professional gaming experience in a team or something like that. I was just known to be a winner of a now-closed game event.
During times like this, sometimes it is best just to ignore what people say. I still wanted to pursue a professional gaming career. My dad, whom I mentioned was awesome, supported me completely, and even said that he would buy whatever I needed to become a professional gamer. An expensive gaming keyboard to a semi-unnecessary gaming chair, my dad said that he would buy it. I knew we weren't in a good place with money, so the only thing I asked from my dad was a better computer. He bought all the parts for me and I built it near the ending months of my senior year. I loved the computer and I would spend every day on it. But, I still had no experience with professional gaming or e-sports and the computer my dad bought for me seemed to be all for nothing.
As next week approached, I graduated with a decent GPA of 3.0 and an ACT score of 22. College was not a choice for me since I did not have any redeeming qualities a scholarship offerer would want. I also hated assignments and testing. I really didn't feel at peace for a degree in college. 
The only choice I had was to find a way to get into the professional gaming scene. During graduation week, an MMORPG named BATTLE released. Surprisingly, it had similar mechanics to Raid Online. An environment where everything and anything can be used to your content.
I bought the game on its release date after graduation day and started it up.

Games—something that most of us if not all— have experience with. It is for good reason too since games are very addicting and are often used to escape from our reality.

Kogen Yoshino is an 18-year-old male. He is what you would call a casual gamer. This was the case until the release of the MMORPG game BATTLE.

Follow Kogen in his adventure to become the best in BATTLE (no pun intended) using his unorthodox and unpredictable gaming skills.

A twenty-two-year-old man by the name of Raymond Lee was sitting in front of his laptop and playing an MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) called Eaion. He wasn't really bad nor was he that good at playing the game. In the gaming world, he was just slightly above average in skill. He once thought that he could become a pro-gamer, but his skills turned out to be pretty average.

It was back in high-school when his dream was formed. Back then he was a promising martial artist, he was fit, and was a rather studious student. Yet after a pretty bad fall, his body became unable to perform as well as before.

He could no longer win any tournaments, he couldn't even train as hard as before. He was still rather fit as a person, but that wasn't enough for him. As he tried harder than before, he just ruined his body even more. After being unable to continue doing the thing he used to love, he was unable to focus on his school work and was going under great depression.

Raymond's parents tried their best to help their son but it was to no avail. As his depression and his anxiety were reaching their peak, he started thinking about killing himself.


It was at that darkest moment in his life when one of his friends introduced him to the world of online gaming, manga, light novels, web novels, and anime. It was a world that was so new to him. It was like a book that came to life. In these vastly different worlds, there were many interesting things. In there, his character could do almost anything.

The thing he liked the most was the online games. In that world, he can once again be a powerful individual. He found it fun to play, and it was something even he could do in his current state. Though Raymond never recovered from his past injuries, and he never became the same again, but he was happy.

A few years later, Raymond who once had an athletic body was now a rather chubby individual. Though he wasn't too fat, he was still quite fat. Since he stopped exercising and focused all of his free time playing video games, he became a rather unhealthy individual.

At the moment Raymond was playing another MMORPG, and he has been playing for a few days straight. He hasn't been sleeping a whole lot not wanting to miss the events were he can gain event items.


Once the event was over, he could finally move from his chair. He wanted to get some water, but as he stood up he felt rather dizzy. His head felt like it was being hammered upon. He then tripped and fell face-first on the floor.

It seems like he hit something as his head started hurting even more. He could no longer move, and in the corner of his eye, he could see something reddish... Raymond then came to a realization. The thing that he was looking at, that was his blood!

Raymond got scared as he felt his body getting colder and colder. His vision slowly turning darker and darker.

'I don't want to die! I don't want to die! Not like this! I just got enough money to roll for an SSR GACHA!' Those were Raymond's last thoughts before his mind blacked out.

Raymond who felt like he was asleep for a very long time, could feel a warm feeling enveloped his body. He could then finally open his eyes, and once he did the first thing he saw was green. He was under a rather tall tree.

He then tried to get up, as he did he felt his body was lighter than before. In fact, the feeling he got was as if he returned to the time before he was injured. Raymond then looked down and saw aside from his shorts he wasn't wearing anything. But that wasn't the most surprising part, the most surprising part was his belly fat disappeared. What replaced it was a six-pack, his abs were back. As Raymond continued to be confused, a floating text box suddenly appeared before him.

"System has successfully loaded."

A random everyday gamer is transported to another world. A world that is filled with ogres, dragons, and other dangerous fantasy monsters. In that world, he gains a system that forces him to create the strongest guild. Using the system he's able to assign the world's inhabitants as players, which are given skills to help him make the guild grow.

As he grows stronger, the local inhabitants weren't enough. So with the help of the system, he summons players from earth.

Levit sat at the co-pilot's seat as the aircraft rose off the roof of Hold 5. Eva sat next to him, working the controls. The aircraft was a rigid, elongated vessel with two wings connected to a 360o socket joint at the body. The wings had a gyrating rotor each that controlled direction and speed.

"Where are the guards on the roof?" Levit asked, finding their absence odd.

"Three-hundred metres under," Eva said.

"Ah," Levit replied, almost inaudibly.

The aircraft eased forwards for two seconds and, with a burst of the rotors, shot forwards.

"Why aren't they following us?" asked Levit.

"Every Phasellus has a unique ability," she replied. "You can control any machine. My ability is that I can download a copy of myself into any computer that doesn't have an AI interface. I shut down all their vehicles. They won't be following us, ever."

"Hm," Levit nodded. "Where are we going?"

"Olsonfield," Eva replied.

Levit's eyebrows rose. "Why so far?" he asked.

"It's a stronghold," Eva replied. "Citizens much like you who see error in the ways of this country's rulers are gathering there against them. Right now, I stand as their leader. Once we get there, we'll see if we can get you at the helm."

"Me?" asked Levit. "Why me?"

"You are the foster-son of Elvis Castlebridge, yes?" she asked.

"Don't call me that," Levit replied. It still bothered him that the people he thought were his parents actually weren't who they said they were.

"Very well," he said. "You have the resources. The money required to run such a rebellion. You are of a higher social status. So, they will listen to you."

"They won't accept a new leader that easily," said Levit.

"Don't lose your faith in the world so fast, Castlebridge" Eva said. 

"I've already lost it," Levit interjected before she could say anything else.

"Nevertheless," Eva continued, "what makes you most suitable apart from money and society is your online profile CASTLEMAN87."

Levit's eyes widened. "How do you know that?" he snapped, looking at her for the first time since they'd entered the craft.

"Like I said," she said, "I can hack anything. I've been watching your online activity for a while now and I noticed how good you are at Satire."

Satire was an MMORPG warfare game where you and several friends participated as a team in defending territory and gaining ground. It was the second-most popular online game in the world.

"That's . . . unethical," Levit said, gazing down at the streets of Blackheim, which began to fade into suburbs, and then into grassland.

"The position is for you," Eva said. "Unnatural, though it may seem, the conditions have aligned perfectly."

"No matter what you say," Levit said, "this'll only work if your little rebellion wants me to be their leader."

Despite his doubts, the thought of leading a revolution against his country's twisted government tempted him. But he couldn't ignore the logic in his own words. He would only be able to command them if he had their trust.

Trust. Something he would have to create. 

They were coming upon a factory sitting in the middle of the plains. Two guards were posted at the front. There was a man standing on the helipad that sat atop the building. Levit assumed that this was their landing place.

The craft began to descend.

"Have faith," said Eva as she opened the door on her side, the craft touching down. Before she jumped, she looked at him. "The greatest thing about this world . . . is that it can be changed."

And she jumped off. After a pause, he too followed suit.

"Miss Eva," said the man on the roof as the rotors of the craft slowed. "Glad to know you made it. And you have our . . ." he regarded Levit, ". . . package."

"You doubted me, Reginald?" she asked.

He smiled. "Come on," he said. "The Assembly's waiting."

Ultra-intelligent high-school student Levit Castlebridge, is imprisoned in the supermax prison Hold 5 after narrowly avoiding a slaughter at his school.

In the vibrant country of Telmaris, a country where democracy has given way to total chaos, in his motherland, Levit seeks to topple the government and remake it. 

Aided by a mysterious woman called Eva and a ragged mismatch of fighters calling themselves a "resistance", he has resolved to seize control and finally destroy their enemies, the unreasonably murderous Republic of Hinsa.

But mechs called MORBIDs and technologically and genetically modified humans called Phaselli make the Hinsa Army virtually indestructible.

Can Levit avenge all who were killed on that day?

It was a normal day in Chicago with slight drips of rain flowing off the buildings.
"Hey! Mom Me and Jason are going to meet at the gaming cafe... Is that okay with you?" Max told his mother hoping for his desired answer while grabbing money out of his dirty jean pockets.

The response came back instantly with the only answer, I mean THE ONLY answer he didn't want to hear.

"Yeah Go ahead but make sure to bring your little sister okay?" His mother said as his face went as white as a sheet.

"RUN" He quickly yelled to his friend while slamming the door behind him as he ran out the front door grabbing the umbrella from the stand. But he didn't get far before the monster suddenly appeared in front of his face from nowhere.
He saw the worst thing imaginable the thing that has been haunting him for the last fourteen years. 
His little sister Ruby...

"Hey, Jason..... Are you ready to hang out?" Ruby instantly says while having a face full of makeup and dressed rather nicely. She slowly moves past me and draws closer to my friend. 

"Ruby... Seriously we are going to play United Online and you don't even play MMORPGs (1) and honestly, I doubt that you have even played a VRMMORPG (2)" Max Says while pushing his sister away from his reserved friend. "Plus this game is brand new and apparently 400 Million people are expected for launch"

United Online was made over 11 years by Tessa Corporations and was miles ahead of anything else that was made during the same time period. The game incorporated every single aspect of real life including a system that you could experience all of the five senses with whatever percentage of real life you could want but everything could range from 15%-100% of real life adaptability for your senses in order to make people cherish their lives and have them not make stupid choices based off of the idea that you could die over and over. 

The game also has a wicked death program that if you die in the game you get death banned for one day unless you are a non-combatant class. However, with the pain that you experience, they forced all players to be 13 or older.

"Max you are probably just scared that I am going to beat you aga-" She boldly states while Max instantly covers her mouth "Don't ever talk about that again" He quickly states as he hears a burst of stifled laughter from Jason... 

"I mean man just let her come with us she is obviously way better then you are" Jason blatantly stated. Max stared at him with a state of disbelief then simply started walking to the gaming cafe.

"Union Online do you dare to be the BEST?" The speaker blared as they got closer to the gaming cafe in which the whole entire room was packed and incredibly loud. There was a distinct line at two counters with one for picking up the microchip and one for buying the microchip in order to play. 

The gang quickly got in the order line and waited for almost three hours while messing around on their phones. The quickly got to the front of the line and asked for three basic kits and filled out the waiver forms that were required for the chips and then went in the checkout line.  

The room was silent in anticipation for the new game that they could play that night. The gang quickly left and ran home anticipating a wonderful night while they were still sleeping. 

Max and Ruby went inside their own home as their friend Jason's mom pulled up in a brand new luxury suv while talking of course looking quite frustrated. Jason pulled away after adding a quick smirk in Max's general direction. 

The gang was set up to meet in a village called Grindor when the game launched and would meet with some of their friends over the years. They all anticipated the night and inserted their microchips into their sleep goggles that the goverment issued a long time ago in anticipation for this game. They all fell asleep after taking some sleep medicine which was not recommended to do but who cares? 

"Welcome to United Online!" Their dreams instantly showed as they stepped into a grand room.

Wei Wendong, known as Shadow King, was an honorary member of the King's Esports Club as part of the League of Legends team runner-up in the S4 series. After the S4 he chose to retire from the scene and became a streamer, but surprisingly had a lackluster performance in the streaming world.
But because he grasped on the historical opportunity of <New Era> coming online, he boldly chose to become a mobile game streamer that didn't seem to have a future. He finally used <New Era>'s influence, stunning game content, and first mover advantage to become the leader in New Era streaming.
Right now, New Era's market penetration had already far surpassed Heartstone, and even edging out the PC platform League of Legends, his influencing in the streaming world obviously increased because of that as his follower on Weibo was comparable to his old captain.
Therefore, half of his achievement today was because of Future Technology. So to the name that changed the lives of many, he had a strong connection to the company.
Just sometimes ago, Future 1.0 suddenly had a pushup notification which perked his interest.

To support the users' continuous support, Future Technology decided to draw 2000 internal testing players to the tourist destination Pannu Islands, tour the beautiful Pacific and experience the astonishment of the era-defining MMORPG.>
The internal testing phase will be two months. In this period, the player can obtain 2000 USD in monthly salary with flight and accommodations covered by Future Technology. After the internal test, participants will receive a collector game helmet. The helmet will be sent to participants on the first day of the official release.
At the same time, the name used in the internal test will be retained in the official release.
Virtual reality MMORPG? Free international travel?
Disregarding the international aspect first.
With the release of this news, it erupted among domestic forums as the netizens all expressed Future Technology's lunatic move.

The posts on the game's official website already exceeded twenty thousand on the first day. It was evident that the players were all eager for the virtual reality MMORPG.
As to the game itself, Future Technology left enough mystery to it and only released a one minute CG as well as a portal for the draw. Before the draw, the players must confirm that they can head to Pannu Islands. If the player cannot attend, they will be banned for ten years once the game is online.
With anxiousness, Wei Wendong pressed the button.
With the number of participants in the draw continuously increasing, he didn't have too much hope. But happiness suddenly came around the corner when he managed to obtain a spot!
When he saw the notification <Please confirm the availability during internal testing period>, he pressed yes without hesitation, then uploaded the screenshot to Weibo which instantly caused an explosive reaction among his fans.

"What about streaming?"
"The Shadow King definitely did butt stuff with the president, Jiang Chen. No way he would be this lucky!"
"Brother Shadow King, could you bring me there, I'm cute, and I can warm the bed…"
Wei Wendong looked at the fans' envious replies as he lips curled up. He ignored the comments filled with jealousy. While his vanity was fulfilled, he thought about how to grasp the opportunity.
The only information provided by the game designer was a one-minute cinematic trailer with an ancient Oriental and Western background. There were warriors, archers, mages, thieves, and a lot more.
In New Era, Wei Wendong chose an archer, but he planned to change his style and play as a mage. Since it was virtual reality MMORPG, the mage would definitely feel more powerful compared to physical damage dealers! Anyone could swing a sword and shoot an arrow in real life, but who could throw a fireball?
But just as he was planning how he would spend the two months, his phone began to ring.
"Who is calling me this late?" Wei Wendong glanced at the darkness outside and picked up his phone.
When he saw the caller, he was stunned. It was his formal boss calling him, the big boss of King, Wang Tao! Wei Wendong was deliberating on what made the boss call him personally as they didn't have any contact for over a year.
"Hello?"
"Haha, Little Dong, do you still remember me?" Wang Tao said with a smile.
"Of course, how is Boss Wang doing?" Wei Wendong chatted with his old boss.
"Doing well, oh, do you have any interest in returning to Kings?" Wang Tao asked.

Wang Tao seemed to have sensed Wei Wendong was about to reject as he immediately dropped a mega bomb.
"Twenty million, yearly salary."

Even as a streamer with the highest earning potential, Misaya was only worth twenty million. Although Wei Wendong's influence and reputation were not far off, New Era was not a game that could easily pump up the viewership as competitive games do. It is less common for the viewers to give "666 (1)" compared to LoL, therefore his yearly income was only nine million.
"But boss Wang, I don't want to scam you, my LoL skill has already-" Wei Wendong squeezed the words out of his mouth.
The offer was attractive, but he knew his skills well.
"Who is asking you to play LoL." Wang Tao laugh, he paused, before he asked in a quite reserved voice, "Is the screenshot on your Weibo real?"
"Screenshot?" Wei Wendong came to a realization.
Kings made the wrong judgment call when New Era first came online. Wang Tao initially thought the game had a great promotion with great graphics, but it was still lackluster compared to the dominate LoL kingdom.
Therefore, while Kings did form a New Era division in the beginning, it didn't invest in too many resources. But then, once the guilds that invested heavily rose with the rise of New Era, Kings began to regret their decision, but it was too late. A bunch of esports clubs with a name no less than Kings spawned out. A club named Conquerors was almost edging Kings out as the dominant club in Hua.
Therefore this time, Wang Tao would not miss the <Godly Land> ship!
Everyone knew that the big trend on internet development was virtual reality. PC games were on a downward trend, and Future Technology was the leader in domestic artificial intelligence technology. With the release of this Godly Land, it was combing their competitive edges together. The throne of Tencent's empire might not be so secure after all.
But unfortunately, none of Kings member obtained an internal test spot.
Although Future Technology provided some spots for the major guilds in New Era, the spots were mostly targeted towards guilds with major influence. What made Wang Tao frustrated was that the Kings' Guild had no influence in New Era at all.
He threw in some money a few months ago, but it only managed to bring the guild to above average. Compared to the top five in the server, there was still a noticeable difference.
Fortunately, Wei Wendong's Weibo post made him see hope.
Professional player plus internal test participant! It was easy to foresee that this guy's future in the Godly Land was bright. Therefore, Wang Tao immediately called him and extended an offer to the ex-member.
Wang Tao coughed, used a serious tone, and spoke to Wei Wendong with sincerity.
"The Kings Esports Club sincerely wishes for your return and bring Kings our formal glory. Also, you'll be the guild leader of "Godly Kings", are you interested?"
The guild leader of the Kings guild.
Wei Wendong's eyes widened. He didn't think the always cautious formal boss would bet on such a risky move.

He took a deep breath as he felt his heart pumped furiously.

It boasts a realism rate of 99% and had a futuristic-medieval setting filled with swords, guns, and magic that garnered the attention of every gamer in the world.  The geography of the game world was parallel to the real world hence the name Parallel World or ParaWorld as coined by other users.

Parallel World like many other MMORPG employed the class and hidden-class system.  However, what separates it from the rest was its unlimited possibilities.  As long as one can conceive it and meet the requirements, then it was possible to acquire it in the game.

The game was such a huge hit that people started to refer to Parallel World as "Alternate Earth".  Not only can one earn a fortune by selling virtual items for real cash, but also fame and glory by being recognized by the whole world through the World Rankings.

However, it was not easy to acquire Virtual Reality Pods or VRP to play Parallel World for they cost a bit of a hefty sum.  Even the monthly subscription fee is a bit tight for normal users that casual play was almost exclusively for the rich and upper echelons of society.

Nathan Wolf lived a life as part of the middle echelons of society.  He was a mid-tier software engineer with a minimum wage and a dead-end career growth.  While his job can pay for the bills, it would still be considered tight in the current living world standards.  But still, one cannot complain since it gets the job done and satisfies the basic needs for survival.  He was also single not because he was unattractive but rather due to his social standing.  He could survive on his own but with his current earnings, it cannot support a family.

Still, a human being will strive for more.  When Parallel World launched, Nathan saw the possibilities of the game.  However, at twenty years of age, he was already passed the "gaming prime" of his life.  With youth came about great reaction time, the main trait if one would strive to be a Pro-Gamer.  This age group is from thirteen to nineteen and is sought out by various gaming groups for sponsorships.  Still, this did not deter Nathan since as the old saying goes; "With age comes experience" and since Parallel World was a Full-Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game wherein a person can use his or her full capability, then that experience would be an edge rather than a handicap.  In theory at least.

And so, Nathan Wolf prepared.  He gave himself three years of preparation.

In the first year, Nathan pooled his resources.  Since he was single, he was not concerned with living to the bare minimum.  Whatever he can do to minimize cost, he did with utmost efficiency.  There were a few breakthroughs here and there like when the company he worked for managed to land a big project which was given to his team. In the second year, Nathan resigned from his job.  The company he worked for tried to stop him, but Nathan was resolute.  In the end, Nathan and the company agreed on a freelance consultancy type position in which Nathan can agree or not to any project that would be passed to him.  In this year as well, Nathan bought a rundown boxing gym that could house a few people.  The place needed huge repairs and barely qualified as a functional building.   It blurred the line of being a condemned unit.  Still, this suited Nathan fine since the difference between owning and renting was like heaven and earth in terms of budget allocation.

However, the main reason that Nathan bought the gym was that he needed somewhere to train himself physically as well as for his future goals.

Thus, the second year was spent by Nathan in training himself in martial arts.  In the first three months, Nathan stayed in his rundown gym and trained his body into three major parts.  Flexibility, Strength, and Conditioning.  This became the core of Nathan's physical development for three months with each month focusing on each aspect.

In the second quarter of his second-year plan, Nathan traveled to Thailand to learn Muay Thai Kickboxing.  While he was marginally fit, the first month was almost unbearable and oftentimes he considered to quit.  He persevered however and in the second month, he had about an above-average understanding of the art.  The third month was focused on conditioning and building more of the basics of Muay Thai Kickboxing rather than training in advance skillsets.

In the third quarter of his second-year plan, Korea was Nathan's destination of choice.  Here he studied Taekwondo.  Although the debate on what the was the best kick-oriented martial was still not settled in the world, Nathan had a fascination with Taekwondo due to a character he played in some fighting game of old.  Thus, for the kick arts, he chose Taekwondo.  As with Muay Thai Kickboxing, Nathan became above average at Taekwondo by the second month he was in Korea and then focused more on its foundation and basics in the third month.

For the last quarter of Nathan's quest for martial arts, Nathan traveled to Russia and pursued Combat Sambo.  As with the first two martial arts, Nathan trained on the basics of the art and was even regarded as good with it due to his foundations.  The school he trained on even wanted him to be part of the team full-time, but he waved it off stating that he had a goal to accomplish first.  The leader understood but he did state that the offer was still open for at least a year.

And so, it came to pass, two years have passed by.  Parallel World dominated the gaming world during its first year.  Other MMORPGs closed down and some of the developer companies were absorbed by AlterSoft.  Within two years, AlterSoft became the most powerful gaming company developer in the world with over 70% of the human population subscribed to the game.  Within two years, Parallel World became the only Full-Immersion VRMMORPG in the market.  Other companies tried to mimic or compete with Parallel World but AlterSoft was just too powerful both in terms of resources and competency.  Some other games survived but they were mostly stand-alone and sandbox games.

Nathan for his part started with his last year's plans before he entered Parallel World.  The last year was consisted of studying Parallel World as well as honing his martial prowess.  With his three arts, Nathan wanted to create a style of his own, resembling that of his favorite fighting game character whose fist would be covered in flames and kicks as flashy as it was deadly.  For the studying part, Nathan concentrated on farming spots as well as the Parallel World Market or simply The World Market since this was where he will get his income from.  In this year, Nathan also started practicing The Dymaxion Sleep Cycle which he believed will maximize his "Parallel Time" or the time he spent in-game.  It was a hard-fought battle in which he oftentimes became zombie-like while awake which scared his neighbors but in the end, he persevered.

During this time, AlterSoft announced the very first major content patch which would be released the next year.  Not too much was revealed but it was stated that a new world will be opened in which adventurers will be able to travel to this new world via rifts.  Aside from those, however, not much was revealed.

And so, three years have passed, and Nathan was ready.

As he held a mobile tablet, Nathan checked his itinerary and saw that everything was set.  He then looked towards the Virtual Reality Pod he had acquired and gave a small smile.  He reminisced on how he acquired it for a bit but then shook his head.  "No time is a good time than now I suppose.  Time to become a hermit!" he said with a chuckle to no one in particular.

And with that, Nathan Wolf placed himself inside the VRP and logged in to Parallel World for the first time after a three-year preparation.

After waiting a few minutes in the entrance, only the silence and they were at home. She took off her shoes quickly and went up to her room just as fast, realizing she had forgotten her bag. How important ? She would find it the next day, anyway.

The girl opened the door wide on her room, looking inside while standing on the landing for a moment. The shutters were closed, everything was tidy and the bed was done. Nothing was lying on the ground, everything was in order, in its place. Was that why no one was talking to him at school ? Maybe she was feeling too strict, right ?

Sasaki came in and shut the door behind her, and quickly sat down at her desk, turning on her computer. If there was one thing that comforted her in those moments, it was good internet. This wonderful invention that allowed her to be who she wanted, to talk to the people she wanted, when she wanted to. And at least people on the internet loved her for who she really was.

Sasaki clicked on the messaging app she was using to talk to many of her friends. It was class time, so many were not connected, but there was one who was there day and night. He was out of school and was three years older than her, so he spent his time behind video games. She used to play with him, and she spoke to him often when she was feeling bad.

"Hi Omuge, how are you ?" Sasaki tapped her question on the keyboard at an impressive speed. Given the time she had spent on the computer during her life, it was pretty normal to write so fast.

"Hey Sasaki, you're never connected that early !" The answer was not long to come. At any time of day or night, he was always answering her quickly.

"Yes, I skipped classes ! It's not good, but never mind."

"Are you still bullied by those idiots ?"

The girl removed her hands from the keyboard before taking a deep breath. He was one of the only ones to know as much about who she was in reality. Usually she did not talk about her problems to others, and especially not on the internet. But sometimes she wanted him to be right next to her to reassure her, even if she did not know what he looked like or where he lived.

"Yeah, well, it's okay, don't worry. Do you want to play something ? Because I have time to farm on a game !"

"Why not, by the way, a much anticipated game came out today. Would you like to start it together ?"

"Why not, what's the game ?"

"It's called Alveola Online, it's a MMORPG. You have to buy it to start playing it, but it does not cost a lot of money you'll see, and it looks like it's super immersive ! And everything is so well coded that it's almost like in reality ! It looks really amazing."

Sasaki smiled as she saw her friend so excited about playing a game. Playing a little would not hurt her, she needed to take care of her mind and forget about the reality... She searched on internet for the name of the game and bought it immediately.

"Only 10$, it's not super expensive for a MMORPG... I hope it won't be too much Pay to Win at least..." The schoolgirl murmured softly, folding her legs against her chest to settle more comfortably.

"It's good, I bought the game ! Is it VR ?" She started the installation by sending a message back to Omuge. Fortunately she had a helmet hanging on her desk. She was not too fan of virtual reality in normal times, but...

"Yes, it seems that it used a rather special projection method that gives your brain the illusion of being in the game. It's revolutionary, I can't wait to test it. "

"I'm installing the game and I'm yours !" She quickly looked at the size of the game, and almost choked on her own. 578Go ? Was it a joke ? How could a game be so heavy ? Sasaki quickly erased a few heavy files that were no longer used to free up space. Fortunately with the connection she had at home, the 578Go were downloaded in minutes.

"Come on, let's play ! See you again in game !" The girl sent a last message to her friend, without getting the almost immediate answer she was used to receiving. He must have been playing, he looked so impatient...

She grabbed her helmet and put it on her eyes, before clicking the "Start" button that was at the bottom of the launcher. Immediately, a series of strange images and flashes dazzled her by hurting her eyes. She felt like falling back, was that normal ? Was the game buggy ?

After a few seconds of these unpleasant flashes, she began to see shapes around her. Large white walls, all marble, supported by pillars here and there. The floor was also immaculate white, and she was almost afraid of dirtying it by lying on it. Lying ? She was sitting a minute earlier !

And then something was strange... She saw her limbs move ! She could move her whole body, not just her head as in other games. Omuge was right, the game was really immersive... She did not know how such a feat was possible, but it was amazing.

Sasaki got up quickly, and looked behind her. A large mirror covered a whole wall of the room, and she saw herself inside. She saw herself, in the same appearance as in reality. How was it possible, too ?

"Hey hey, don't panic ! For the moment you look exactly like in real life, but it's to change that you're here." A charming man with long hair and light pink eyes appeared in a smoke explosion right next to her, which startled her.

"Are you crazy ? Who are you ? Do you have to scare me like that from the beginning ?" Was he a player ? Or an NPC ? No sign allowed her to know, his name was not displayed above his head as in other MMORPGs...

"Don't worry, you're not in danger ! I just want to make a wonderful first impression ! I'm Makh. Makh Lerky, God of Creation ! And I'm here to help you create your Avatar, Sasaki. Unless you want to look the same as in real life? "

The girl froze for a moment hearing the words of the eccentrically dressed man, wearing a flashy shirt and shiny trousers with ornaments here and there. For a God, he had a particular appearance... But there was something that bothered her even more in his speech.

Upon getting a new RPG whether it was online or not, she would first look at the character customization. Depending on the character customization – the game would drop into one of the three categories.
If the game had no character customization, she would drop the game immediately and would even try to get a full refund for the said game. 
If the game had at least minimal character customization, she would give it a chance. 
This chance differed for an MMORPG and an RPG. 
In an online RPG or an MMORPG, she would level up her character to the level cap before moving on to the next game but in a single-player RPG, she would clear the main story of the game before moving on to the next game. 
If the game had a full character customization with many choices, she would excitedly play an MMORPG or an RPG until she cleared every part of the said game before moving on to the next one.
Now that the character customization was unavailable this game dropped in the first category of games which she would have dropped immediately without giving it a chance but since this game was the first VRMMORPG she tried, she decided to give it a chance nonetheless.

"Why did the quest I received say my level would be reduced to <Level 1> and why do I feel like there is something on my back?" Valeif thought and she turned her head. She saw a black pair of wings on her back.

She closed her eyes and concentrated on the pair of the wings on her back. In just a moment the wings flapped and the girl rose slightly above the ground. Valeif opened her eyes and smiled. "So I can actually fly," she thought.
She descended onto the ground and laughed out loud. "Virtual reality is cool," she said in a loud excited voice. "I can even overlook the lack of character customization because of this," she thought.
The shout earlier had alerted the monsters that were in the area, they quickly appeared before her.
"Mhm?" Valeif looked at the two monsters standing before her. They were black, bear-sized wolves.

The two hounds pounced at the girl at the same time. She reacted and moved her hand swiftly, the two monsters got hit by a wave of the hand a message flashed,

She without waiting for anything extended her hand, clenched it then formed a fist and released it. With this action, the menu opened. She selected the first option without looking through the menu and the character window opened. She only looked at the line of text where her Level was listed.

As she was looking at her Level, a cold wind blew past her and her body shook. The girl thought, "Why is it so cold?" She looked down and saw that she was wearing only a bra and panties. She stared at only two pieces of clothing in shock.
She shouted loudly, "Why am I only wearing underwear!"
With the shout, three more <Hel Hound, Level 456> appeared. Valeif didn't have time for them and so she slapped them and killed them with one motion.

The girl looked at the equipment and her eyes widened and she saw that she had no items equipped even the weapon was missing. She looked down at her appearance one more time and she cursed loudly, "What the hell! I can't walk around with only underwear!"

When everything was ready Ting started his hack. Ting's fingers furiously typing away lines of code. When Ting located the registration system he noticed that the firewall for it was weaker than the other parts of the website.

After about five minutes of breaking through the firewall, he found that to make an account all he needed to do was to enter a username. After he created his account, he was instantly redirected to a welcome page. Now to log in the website provided a link for him to enter his account instead of hacking through the firewall and creating an account.

"Good, good, I got more System Credits I could use for improving on my hacking abilities when I want to enroll into courses." He thought as he stared at his screen.

He was greeted by an introduction to the use of the website and the rules. The website informed the user that they can accept assignments and that they will be graded by how well they did and how fast they completed the assignment; the hackers are graded by the person who created the assignment.

The hackers would need to give their bank info to the site and through the website they would be paid. When the people create assignments they pay first to the HackersHaven website then after the assignment is completed the money gets transferred to the hacker and the website will take a slight commission. 

And of course theses contractors identities will be confidential; the website will not divulge their identities.

On the welcoming page after having read the rules. Ting noticed there was a hackers ranking system on the website. The website showed the top 1000 hackers currently on their site. Of course, some can choose to hide their alias.

The other pages on the website showed its rules, policy, account settings, and lastly assignments. Ting noticed that there was another page but he couldn't click on it it just wrote 'Coming Soon'.

Ting didn't know what was coming soon but that is something for the future him to worry about. Ting remembered that Swiss Bank accounts are relatively safe. So he went online and created an account. Soon after he had gotten himself an account he went his account settings and found the banking number. 

He quickly entered his new banking information and afterward opened his system menu and went to see if there were any missions he could accept relating to accepting assignments and he quickly found a mission directly interconnecting with accepting assignments.

Ting instantly knew this mission was the one he needed. Therefore he didn't hesitate and accepted the mission. This way he would be killing 2 birds with one stone.

After Ting accepted the mission, he went to look at the assignments. The page had all kinds of assignments ranging from hacking a social media account and saving their chat messages to hacking into a computer game and messing their servers and stuff.

Ting listed the assignments in terms of reward money. He found that the one at the top rewarded 500, 000 USD. But it was too hard for the current him. The assignment was to hack into a new virtual reality game MMORPG: Quasar Online. The game was introduced a couple of years ago by a game company, it was an MMORPG game and their servers are really protected. They have multiple teams ready to stop any hacker that is detected at a moments notice.

However, since he hasn't hacked yet, besides in the course he took. He chose one of the assignments for saving someone's social media messages.

On the website, when he accepted the assignment it gave him more details.

After Ting read the assignment info he quickly got to work. Because the faster he retrieved the chat messages then the happier the client, hence the better the rating they give him. 

He went to the website that the target uses and started hacking away. Furiously typing lines of code, there was some resistance from the firewall and Ting tried to find a back-end door. However, he couldn't find any that quickly due to his lack of experience. After a few minutes, he finally found one and silently entered.

Thunking that Ting had stopped, gave Ting a breather and some peace of mind. The social media's cyber team quickly found some other people trying to infiltrate them so they went over there instead.

When Ting entered through the back door, he quickly searched Huang Fei inside the database for his email and his password. He also left a hidden backdoor for himself after he left. He learned how to do so from the course. It was pretty useful if he needed to hack them again.

After Ting left he quickly entered the email and password, luckily the user didn't have two-factor authentication otherwise he had to hack and infiltrate his targets phone.

After he logged in he copied all his messages. What he found was quite disturbing. He read some of the conversations he had and it turned out that he was going out with multiple women. From his conversations, Ting made a guess that each woman thought that Huang Fei was loyal to them. 

But he couldn't care less for this piece of garbage. And so after he logged out he went to the HackersHaven site and used his link that the website provided and accessed his account. He then went to his accepted ongoing assignments and quickly summited everything he copied.

Earlier in the morning, Fei Yuan had suspected that his boyfriend was cheating on her. She found that more and more that her boyfriend was going out early and coming back home late. 

Fei Yuan was living with her boyfriend starting last year, at first she was quite happy when she slept with him. However, she didn't give him her first, because she wanted to give it to him when they get married.

But a few months after they started living together she noticed some changes and that he left early and came home late. At first, she didn't think much about until it got frequent. She heard of hackers accepting money in change for their help. The website she had heard was HackersHaven. 

When she first arrived at the website she was quite nervous that it was or of those scam sights so she created a temporary bank account and loaded 1732.67 yuan (250USD) since the website calculates the reward in USD. After giving her banking information she quickly wrote her boyfriends social media account information and posted the assignment.

After she posting the assignment it was early in the morning hence she quickly got ready and ate her breakfast before heading to her job. She wasn't young anymore and joined the ranks of society. She had a full-time job like any other individual. When she had a lunch break she went to find out if anyone had accepted her assignment. She realized that it had accepted and was dumbfounded when she read that it was already completed.

Afterward, she saw received all her boyfriends chat messages from the email she provided in the contact information and was dumbstruck. She instantly screamed startling many of her colleagues.

"Fei Yuan, what's wrong?" One of Fei Yuan's colleagues asked.

"What's wrong is I chose a piece of *%^# as a boyfriend!" Fei Yuan roared. "I'll be taking the afternoon off.

She quickly stormed out of the building after she requested for a 1-day leave. She quickly went home and waited for her boyfriend, Huang Fei to get home. She wasn't even in the mood to eat dinner until she kicked him out of the house and severe their relationship for good.

At 10:00 PM Huang Fei arrived back home. His attire was a bit messy along with his hair. Who knows what he had been up to today. But Fei Yuan could guess as she blushed and instantly became furious.

"You piece of dog #%^*, you dare to have multiple women? You are the trash of society. Now pack up your things and get the hell out of here!" Fei Yuan quickly came up to Huang Fei and gave him a couple of slaps to his face.

"What are you talking about babe?" Huang Fei tried to calm her down and tried to rebut her. "I haven't done a thing to anyone yet."

"YET? You already had!" As she read out his conversation out loud with a woman word by word.

"NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! Take your stuff and leave! Fei Yua shouted back.

As Huang Fei left with his things. Fei Yua felt like she forgot something. "Oh well, I am starving right now. I'll try to recall it later."

Meanwhile, Ting was quite tired and went to take a nap but found himself waking the next day. He quickly checked how his client ranked his performance. But found out that they hadn't even ranked him at all.

He thought maybe they would rank him later so he quickly scrolled through the assignments for one he feels that was worth it.
