Iris Sakamaki has always dreamed of becoming not only a top tier baker but also a top tier chef as well. She wants to fix her broken home due to her parents rivalry.

Being stationed on the 179th floor, fog in the morning is inescapable, it's everywhere, being blatantly thick and there. It makes my morning dull, a cloud of gloom following me wherever I go. The air I breathe in feels too heavy, too moist, too rich. I brew a cup of bitter, dark coffee, run a freezing shower, violently comb my hair, just about anything to make me fully wake up. My morning is slow-going, as my schedule lies perfectly clear and empty ahead of me. I force myself to argue against myself whilst in the shower. My two inner voices come to life and start bickering immediately.

I could work at the nearby café downstairs. 
Don't be stupid, they're famous for two things. Good food and underpaying yet overworking their staff. 
Okay fine, then how about you suggest something? 
You could work at the reception lobby downstairs. 
The spaces are all filled up. 
Then what?
I could clean apartment rooms in The Solstice for a living. 
No way, you're not going to steep that low. 
Hey, money is money, however you make it.
That's worse than the café, there are so many other jobs out there.
I can just work at the café until I get back onto my feet.
True... but promise you wont be there permanently?
Promise.
Okay, *sigh* the café it is then.

I make up my mind before I finish shampooing my hair, and decide to head down to the café at ten. Two hours before peak hour, so that they have time to consider me, then be too busy to find reasons why to reject me, and when the storm is over and the calm returns, they'll be too exhausted to turn me away, and have no choice to accept me, considering I might be some help when the rush hour they experienced comes again. I've got it all planned out in my head, and hopefully if things go my way, I'll have a job by the end of the day and still have two months worth of income from The Solstice. There's frozen pizza in the fridge, from the previous stayer who decided to move out, and I wolf it down in seconds. It's as hard as a cracker and scatters crumbs whenever I snap a bite, but since skipping dinner last night, I'm ravenous. I make a mental note to buy some groceries before returning home. I leave the house at 9:30, deciding a walk will do me good, to calm my nerves. This isn't an office job, they won't shoot interview questions at me, or constantly ask me about my skills, talents and education or fire me if I don't compliment them at the beginning of the interview. 

I arrive exactly at ten, and smooth down the front of my neat, pre-ironed salmon-coloured blouse. The store is pretty empty, except for a few regulars lingering at the french windows, sitting silently on high stools, or chatting with the tired-looking cashier. The bakers and brewers are doing what we call a cold cracker, eating the leftovers from yesterday that'll go bad soon, the bread and the wet pastries, which are pastries with jam, whipped cream or anything semi-liquid on top which will turn the pastry soggy. The cashier stops chatting with the man in the overcoat, lights a cigarette and glances up at me. She breathes in deeply, and I notice the dark circles under her eyes. It's silent until she speaks up.
 "You're new here, haven't seen you yet," she mumbles. The puff of smoke engulfs the man, but he doesn't seem to care, and he's fixated on the visible puff pastry coming out of the oven in the kitchen. I inhale and get straight to the point, "Are you hiring?" She seems taken aback because she lowers her cigarette mid-draw and the man turns around. 

The back of my neck feels warm, I'm most certainly out of place here. "Well we do need someone to brew the coffee, but do you know how to do that?", she asks, but not seeming to care what the answer was, since she was more focused on puffing out a perfect ring of smoke, like in the movies. "Yeah, I do." "Alright then, you come around the cashier, I'll show you the equipment and introduce you," she motions to the staff, who are all waving. She stubs her cigarette on the counter, scattering ash everywhere. "Sorry Bob," she says in a flat tone to the man she had been chatting with, "Thought I'd get to discuss with you today, 'till Miss Newcomer here showed up." I lower my head and pretend to stare at my shoes, but really I'm just hiding my blush from the watching government. She doesn't say it in a mean way, she's just teasing me, and the man chuckles, "No problem Min, see you next Monday I guess." Then he turns and walks outside, pulling his coat tight around him to shield him from the cold. I follow Min to the coffee machine until she halts halfway, freezing in her tracks. "What?", I question, worried at her sudden stop. She turns around and stares at the door, her face stiff, like she's suppressing horror. "The- the man.." her voice trembles. "What about the man?", I question, concerned.

"Did he... did he just laugh?"

[So Young's POV]

Placing my phone down I jump in joy and shake my bum, "Seung Joon's coming!" I say to myself and feel embarrassed at my excitement.

I can finally cook for my man, well my ex-man.

Beaming I rush to the kitchen and look through the pantry and fridge to see what I can make. I know I  told him that I'd have something for him to eat within an hour so I better hurry my ass up – don't wanna disappoint my man when he gets here.

Pulling a tray of chicken breast from the fridge, carrots, peas, cauliflower and broccoli. I kick the fridge door closed gently and walk over to the cupboard holding the pots and pans. Pulling out the frying pan I set it on the gas stove on medium heat with some oil in it.

Grabbing an onion from the pantry I peel it and roughly chop it in pieces, placing it in the pan it sizzles and I quickly stir it so that it doesn't burn. Turning my attention to the broccoli and cauliflower I rinse it off and put both in a deep pot of water. Setting it on the back stove I add salt to the water and let it cook.

Stirring the onions again I quickly add ready chopped garlic that I grab from the fridge, throwing in the slightly frozen peas into the pan I then chop up the carrot into bite-size pieces and pour it into the sizzling onion mix.

Pouring two cups of water into the pan I turn my attention to the chicken. Cutting the chicken breast into bite-size pieces I throw it into the pan of water and vegetables then add salt and pepper to it. Closing the pan with a lid, I turn my attention to the fridge and pull out two ready-made rolls of puff pastry and strip them from their wrappings.

Bunching the rolls together, I move over to the pantry and grab the dried rosemary and thyme. Sprinkling half the bottle of both over the ball of pastry I knead the dough until the rosemary and thyme are well infused throughout.

Moving back to the stove I use a knife to poke a hole in the cauliflower and broccoli to test the doneness. They both are still firm but the bright green colour of the broccoli and clean white of the cauliflower tell me that they are perfect so I pull them off and drain them in the sink, placing them both in a bowl.

I grab the Pyrex dish from the cupboard and place it beside the dough and check on the chicken and vegetables that are giving off a beautiful smell. The water is almost cooked away so I grab the chicken stock from the fridge and pour a cup in, feeling the carrots and the peas, I nod.

 Lining bowl with half of the puff pastry I shove it in the oven to precook. Going back to the chicken I mix cold chicken with flour and pour it in and wait a few minutes. The beeper goes off and the pastry is ready, pulling it out I place it on the granite counter beside the gas stove and through the glass lid, I see that the soup has thickened up.

Pouring it into the pie dish I drape the second roll of pastry over the dish and trim the extra dough off and dock it. Shoving it into the oven I look at the clock on the wall and see that thirty minutes already went by.

Quickly cleaning up and doing the dishes I wipe the counter and head upstairs to get out of my damn PJs. Putting on a loosely fitted tracksuit, I head downstairs just in time to take the chicken pie out.

Placing it down on the counter I hear the doorbell ring – oh fuck he's here!

I open the front door and raise a brow at Seung Joon's tired look. He smiles slightly at me, "Are you going to let me in So Young?"

I nod and step back. He enters my home and walks in looking around at everything and nodding. Turning back to look at me he says, "You have a nice home here."

I nod with a smile, taking pride in that comment. He chuckles and raises a brow at me, "I'm hungry."

My eyes widen in realization. I almost forgot that he was here to eat which makes me slightly disappointed that he's not here to see me but just to eat my food – well it is something that I made so I should be happy.

I head to the kitchen while motioning for him to sit at the dining table. He does as he is told and I take out a plate, fork and knife. While dishing up I ask him, "What would you like to drink?"

He hums for a moment and answers, "A beer please."

I mentally frown because I don't drink and there isn't beer nor wine here so I can't give him anything with alcohol.

I take out a glass from the cupboard above my head. Opening the fridges double doors I pull out the mango juice and pour him a glass.

Glancing over at him, I see he's frowning as he looks at me. Shrugging my shoulders I say, "I don't drink so I don't have beer available."

He nods his head while tapping his fingers on the glass table. I walk over with the plate of pie and cutlery and place it down in front of him. Turning my back and heading back to the kitchen I pick up the pie dish and make to place it on the table.

Seung Joon's already eating so I leave him to it while I head back to the kitchen and fiddle with the broccoli and cauliflower.

"Are you nervous?" he asks making me freeze.

Sighing I nod my head, "It's been years since we were alone together, so don't blame me."

"I don't," he says making me look over at him, but to my disappointment, he's facing the floor to ceiling windows looking outside into the dark.

After shoving a piece of cold broccoli into my mouth, I wince and roll my eyes with a slight chuckle. Walking over to the microwave I warm it up and head to the dining table, sitting next to Seung Joon.

I look down at the pie and I'm surprised to see that he's eating out of the pie dish. I muffle my laughter and look at him. He turns to look at me and raises a questioning brow.

"Where's your manners?" I ask him while pointing to the pie dish and he looks down at it. Chewing and swallowing the pie in his mouth he takes a sip of juice and says, "I thought you made it for me, so why make dishes when I can eat out of the pie dish?"

He turns to look at me with an amused look in his eyes making me frown, "It doesn't matter if you do it here but don't do it in public or when other people are around," I say and hear him chuckle.

After he's done eating most of the pie, he says thank you and asks to use the toilet. After I show him the way I clean up the dining table, wiping it clean and putting the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, I wipe down the counter and put the pie away in the fridge.

Walking over to the lounge I see Seung Joon sitting on the couch with his eyes closed.

"Seung Joon?" I call but hear no response from him. Sighing I walk upstairs to my bedroom and return with my fleece blanket. Covering him with it after I take off his blazer, I sit down beside him but don't sit for long when his hands fly out from under the blanket and wrap around my waist.

He lifts me up and places me on his lap. Opening his eyes I can see that they are heavy but he smiles at me. Pulling me down, my lips slam against his.

I'm momentarily stunned but ease into the kiss and give him permission to explore my mouth. After a heated kiss, I pull away laying my head on his shoulder and hear him whisper, "Thank you for dinner, it was delicious."

I nod without verbally answering him and take in his manly scent mixed with his cologne. I smile into his shoulder because he still wears the cologne I bought for him when we were together.

I soon hear him snore and smile. Getting up slightly to look at him, I kiss the two moles under his left eye and rest down against him. I fall asleep too, peacefully with a smile on my face.

Since there was food and a cute little bun here, Long Qingxin was happy to rest for a while and play with this cute great-granddaughter.

She coaxed and carried the little fellow in Ji Xinyu's arms into her arms.
Ji Xinyu was really shocked. She stretched out her hands to protect Xiao puff, afraid that if long Qingxin made a mistake, she would fall down again.

Lu Xinyi got a burn on her knuckle which made Shen Yi worried. However, she kept in her poker face in place and continued working. This kind of burns was kind of badge of honor for her anyway. A single burn could not stop her from moving forward!
After one and a half hours, Lu Xinyi and Han Yixin finished their croquembouche at the same time. Since serving this dessert required one to serve it immediately, no wonder both women decided to present this before their Baked Alaska and Mandarin Orange desserts.
The puffs and pastry cream could be made ahead of time, but the assembly of the croquembouche should be done as close to serving time as possible. Because a croquembouche wouldn't keep well, partly because pastry cream shouldn't be left at room temperature for more than a day but also because pastry cream filling would soften cream puffs over time; and they would lose their structural integrity.
"Wow, look at Han Yixin's croquembouche. It's stunningly beautiful. No wonder she holds the title 'Queen of Patisserie'."
Han Yixin's croquembouche was truly a showstopper. Even Lu Xinyi was amazed and in love at the cream puff tower that Han Yixin presented. Using the same caramel she used to cover her puffs, Han Yixin made a gorgeous spun-sugar garnish for her cream puff tower.
It looked like pinkish red spider webs that beautifully covered Han Yixin's tower.
On the other hand, Lu Xinyi's tower was simple yet elegant. Some puffs were covered with pearl sugar while the other glistened with its caramel coating.
Three professional pastry chefs were invited by the academy to be the judges for today's event. Each of them checked the two towers of puffs and took notice of each detail that both women used.
After tasting the puffs, it was time to ask some questions.
"Is this your first time making croquembouche?" one of the three judges asked Lu Xinyi and Han Yixin.
"No," Han Yixin answered truthfully.
"Yes," Lu Xinyi admitted her lack of experience.
The judge eyed Lu Xinyi. He wondered if Lu Xinyi was telling the truth but looking into her eyes, he couldn't find any hint of lies and treachery.
It was her first time making a cream puff tower, but she didn't bother using a cone mold while stacking her puffs? Lu Xinyi surely knew the basics of croquembouche.
It could be fun doing croquembouche by hand without relying on cone mold's help. For one thing, it could teach the chef's hand-and-eye coordination and sensitivity to their ingredients, how the food was alive, and a creation was fragile and sensitive to its environment.
Sugar would cool or react to humidity, and one needed to know how to adjust.
The three judges conversed silently to each other, pointing out the highlight and weaknesses of each cream puff towers that were presented. The perfect croquembouche was one that looked beautiful and tastes even better, and Han Yixin perfected both criteria.
"Miss Han, please tell us how did you make your croquembouche tower," the judges asked.
"To make the croquembouche, first I made the choux buns and then make and flavor my pastry cream." Han Yixin narrated her steps. "Once the choux buns are baked and have cooled down, I filled them with luscious pastry cream and then dipped them in caramel. To assemble the croquembouche, I boiled another batch of sugar and water to make a sugar syrup and dipped the choux puffs in it and slowly began to construct a tower-like structure. My croquembouche was done freehand without the help of any cone or mold."
While it was admirable to know that it was Lu Xinyi's first attempt to make a croquembouche, it wasn't enough to surpass Han Yixin's skills and experience in making one. Coming into the same decision, the judges gave their verdict to Huo Meili to announce.
Huo Meili opened the envelope and read the results. Her smile never faltered, making it hard for the audience to know who the winner was.
"The winner of the Croquembouche challenge goes to Han Yixin!" she announced.
"What? Han Yixin won? While Lu Xinyi's tower isn't so bad, how did Han Yixin won?"
"Because it was clear that Han Yixin beat Lu Xinyi in terms of experience, ah? Lu Xinyi took a simplified approach while Han Yixin presented a more classic and professional cream puff tower. Who do you think the judges will choose between the two?"
"Ah… that make sense…"
"Miss Lu! That's alright, there are still two more rounds!"
"That's right! Don't give up, you still have a chance to win!"
The cheers from the crowd irritated Wen Shufen; why the fuck they were still supporting Lu Xinyi? Hadn't they realized the difference of the experience and skill between her and Han Yixin was so obvious?
In Han Yixin's presence, Lu Xinyi was nothing but a newbie. How could a newbie compete with a pro like her?
Heh, they must be waiting for a more painful face-slap later when Han Yixin beat every dessert Lu Xinyi presented. Wen Shufen thought.
Different from Wen Shufen's thoughts, the three judges were silently arguing with each other, trying to decide which of them should take Lu Xinyi as their apprentice.
These three pastry chefs were known to be hard to please, and yet a single dessert made by Lu Xinyi had thrown the three into chaos. It was like they had found a gem in a pile of trash that needed some polishing to shine.
"Hahaha… you can forget trying to recruit Miss Lu. My family is associated with the Shen family. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind if I ask them to take Lu Xinyi under my wing." The judge who asked both Han Yixin and Lu Xinyi's experience was the one who tried hard to argue.
"That's unfair, Chef Feng. It is I who was able to find the subtle trick Lu Xinyi used on her cream puffs!" The second judge argued.
"That's right, Chef Feng, don't be so greedy. Why don't we ask Lu Xinyi later which of us she'll choose as her master?" The last judge suggested, but it only made Chef Feng frowned. He refused to give up a talented chef as Lu Xinyi to these two.
"Look at us, fighting over a girl. Alright, I agree. Even if she fails this cooking battle, I still want to recruit her to join my team!" Chef Feng insisted.
"If only she wouldn't choose to join mine! Hahahaha!" The second judge laughed.
"Between the three of us, who do you think can teach her more and polish her skills? There's no doubt it will be me!"

Ariana couldn't help but smile brightly at Lady Zula. She was so excited that she was being allowed to enter the kitchen with Rin that she completely disregarded the mocking looking. Ariana jumped up in delight, skipped around Roy, ducked under the counter and was standing in front of the double doors.
"Lady Zula I will make you a serving too!" Ariana shouted with glee as she curtsied. Lady Zula eyed her mannerism 'truly this child was not what she seemed' she thought to herself. "Roy you are not allowed to follow her inside. I will allow Rin to go inside and watch over her. If the child is lying Rin will be there to drag her out if she needs too... but you on the other hand if she needed the help, you would definitely step in." Lady Zula said as she glared at Roy.
Roy clutched the fabric on the side his pants and held back his protests. "As you wish Madam." Roy said solemnly as he bowed again to his mistress. The moment he rose Lady Zula closed the distance between them and gently tapped the side of his cheek with her index finger. "Don't be like that." Lady Zula said softly as she smiled at Roy then turned to Ariana. She nodded her head showing her approval for Ariana to go inside.
Ariana couldn't bother hiding her excitement and blew Lady Zula a kiss before she moved past the double doors, while Rin followed in suite. Once the girls were well inside the kitchen Ariana turned to see Rin's face.
"Well that was exciting." Ariana said as she crossed her arms over her chest. Rin shook her head from side to side and brought her hands up in defeat. "Honestly you look like a little angel but who knew you're actually a little devil." Rin sighed at her own ignorance. The child before her was no angel and she cursed herself for ever thinking that Ariana was.
Ariana raised an eyebrow as she looked Rin square in the eyes. "Oh please, I am a little angel. I just have little devil qualities, please do not misunderstand." Ariana said boastfully. Rin leaned against the wall and rolled her eyes. She then watched Ariana look around the kitchen. Ariana saw a medium sized skillet drying in a tray.
The moment she grabbed the handle of the skillet the strange light appeared around her feet. Again the gentle gust of wind, rainbow fluff ball lights and shinning white eyes started up again. Rin took a couple of cautious steps forward and reached out her hand to try and touched one of the rainbow, fluff ball lights.
The instant she touched one a flood of information appeared before her eyes, she felt overwhelmed and fell backwards. She started to breathe erratically as giant drops of sweat rolled down her face. Ariana's lights disappeared and she fluttered her eyelashes. She looked down and smiled at Rin. "What is your level of skill in the kitchen?" Ariana asked quietly as her eyes stared at Rin.
Rin looked at her with confusion so Ariana asked her a different question. "Can you cook?" Ariana asked with a heavy sigh. Rin wiped the sweat off her brow and tried to stand up but her legs were wobblier then a bowl of jelly. "Everything I cook turns to coal." She answered bitterly as she finally found her balance.
Ariana smiled as she turned to fetch a pot. "Alright a baking lesson it is. First I will start prepping all I need then I will teach you a simple dessert that will wow everyone!" Ariana said enthusiastically as she went to grab a pot. Rin looked at Ariana like she was insane. "I just told you everything I touch turns to coal why would you have me bake instead?!" Rin yelled with hysteria.
Ariana ran around the kitchen collecting all her ingredients. "Just trust me." Ariana said as she cradled some tomatoes. "I will explain everything to you tonight."
....
There was an enchanting smell in the air that caused Roy to salivate. He couldn't help it when his stomach growled in agony as he stared at the double doors. Soon Rin came out hold a tray with two big servings of what looked like golden mountains. While Ariana followed behind her with a smaller serving.
Rin and Ariana placed the food onto the counter and allowed everyone to ooh and awe over it. Lady Zula looked displeased as she poked the golden mound with her index finger. "Child, what are playing at? You are serving eggs." Lady Zula said arrogantly. Ariana smiled brightly as she looked at Lady Zula. "Yes Lady Zula it is an egg dish and one that you can eat at anytime of the day." Ariana explained.
Roy looked over the mound curiously as he tried to figure out how it was made. "Big brother Roy, let me feed you the first bite!" Ariana said excitedly and stared cutting into the mound with just a fork. "No it's?!?!" Roy started to protest but Ariana shoved a good fork full of Omurice into his mouth.
Roy started to chew slowly and soon enough his shoulders sagged, his face became slightly flushed and his whole aura glowed with joy. "Mmmh!" He said as he tried to take the fork from Ariana's hand. "You cooked the chicken so tenderly that you can easily cut it with a fork!" He exclaimed as he grabbed a fork laying on the counter and cut himself another piece.
"Chicken?!" Lady Zula said as she looked at the mound again. Ariana brought her elbows onto the counter, she cradled her small face as she held onto the fork and waved it in the air. "That's right. Egg, chicken, rice, carrots, onions, peas, cheese and a special sauce." Ariana said happily as she stared at Lady Zula.
Lady Zula looked at Roy who had eaten half his mound already then back to Ariana's face. "You want me to eat commoner's food?" Lady Zula questioned with disgust. Ariana looked at her with unwavering eyes. "Yes!" She replied joyously. "If you like it Lady Zula we could add it to your menu." Ariana saids without a hint of shame. Lady Zula's eyes became furious. A small vein was now visible above her left brow.
"What makes you think I would add this to MY menu?!" Lady Zula said in a low, daunting voice. Ariana didn't even bat an eye when she heard Lady Zula's words. 
"Your menu is very high end. The way your kitchen is stocked I believe you don't get a lot of customers ordering meals and I will tell you why. One, it's too rich and could make them feel sluggish or cramped. Why would someone want to feel that way when they have come to enjoy themselves. That's just ridiculous. Two, this one meal would be more cost efficient for you. What you made before most have costed a fortune to get all the necessary ingredients. With this alone you can buy the items at a reasonable cost and mark up the sale price, no one would complain." Ariana said matter of factly.
Lady Zula's rage subsided as she looked at Ariana quizzically. "Tell me child why would someone pay more for commoner's food when they can prepare it at home?" Ariana batted her long eyelashes and reached into her apron's pocket. "Because of this. It is a one of a kind sauce that no one will be able to replicate even if they know the ingredients." Ariana said as she unscrewed the jar.
Lady Zula eyed the red jar and dipped her pinky finger inside. She brought her pinky to her tongue and shivered in delight. "What is this?!" Lady Zula asked excitedly. "Ketchup." Ariana replied indifferently, she then looked at Roy who was almost done is meal and added a small, ketchup heart onto the remaining piece of Omurice. "You'll like it more now." Ariana said earnestly. Roy was already stuffed but the look in Ariana's eyes urged him to try one more fork full.
Tears were brought to his eyes and he grabbed the small jar of ketchup, placed it against his cheek and started to cuddle it. "You're my treasure now." Roy said affectionately. 
Lady Zula couldn't hold back anymore and tried a bite. She had the same reaction as Roy and sighed with pleasure. She then snatched the jar away from Roy's hands and was ready to pour the sauce all over but Ariana placed her hand onto of the jar. "Lady Zula too much can be over powering, here let me." Ariana said sweetly.
Ariana took the jar back and started to draw a flower design on the egg. She then moved and drew a sun with clouds on the last Omurice. She screwed the lid back on the jar and placed it back in her apron's pocket. Ariana walked over to Rin and handed her a fork. She then grabbed Rin's hand and walked her over to the last Omurice. Ariana brought her hands together into the shape of a heart and started to sing. 
"I shower this meal with my love so I hope you do say yum." Then looked at Rin with anticipation.
The corner of Rin's mouth twitched, she needed to act fast or else she would show everyone her smile. Rin cut a piece of Omurice with her fork and at the same time Lady Zula had gotten a fantastic idea. Both women took a bite and began to blush, they squirmed with giddiness as they "Mmmh" in sync. "I want that sauce!" Lady Zula yelled as she got up from her seat. Ariana looked at Lady Zula and blinked. "Ok." Ariana said as she dug the jar out of her pocket and handed it to her.
"No I want the recipe! I want to have it as part of the menu along with this Omurice!" Lady Zula yelled in frustration. Ariana scratched her head and looked at Rin. The young women nodded taking her que and disappeared behind the double doors. "Lady Zula I am honoured by your request and I will be more then happy to sell you the recipe and rights to the dishes." Ariana said coolly. Lady Zula dropped her fork in surprise.
"Sell?!" Lady Zula exhaled as she narrowed her eyes. "Correct sell. I believe this will be one of the highlights to your business and will bring in all types of customers, with proper advertising of course." Ariana said as she looked at Lady Zula with a cold demeanor. The air around her became frigid and unforgiving and Lady Zula remembered she was not dealing with a regular child. "How much do you want." Lady Zula asked cautiously.
Ariana blinked and her innocent smile came back. "Can you make me a fair offer?" She asked politely. Lady Zula gulped she didn't want to offended the girl and thought about it seriously. Suddenly Rin walked in carrying a platter full of oddly shaped, tan coloured balls with a white powdered layer sitting on the top. 
"Ahh she's back! Before we start negotiating, I want you to try this puff dessert. I will be upfront with you, this is no commoner's dessert and nobles would kill to get their hands on these." Ariana said as she passed the puff pastry to Lady Zula.
"I will give you the recipe for the Omurice and ketchup for the right to go to school regularily. I want my books, materials and uniform paid in full for 4 years." Ariana said seriously as she held the puff pastry high in the air. Lady Zula laughed. "That's it?! Done! I will send you to the best school there is as long as I get the rights to these two items."
Ariana nodded her head in agreement. "No need to send me away. I want to be close by so I can monitor the growth of your business but before we get into the details I want you to try the puff pastry. I will give you the recipe for a say in your business plan, look over your financials and to reinvent your business." Ariana proclaimed as she raised her nose into the air. 
Lady Zula's jaw dropped. After her momentary shock subsided, she pursed her lips and dragged her nails across the countertop. "No." Lady Zula answered firmly.
Ariana shrugged. "You say that now but the moment you bite into this I will guarantee you that the angels from heaven will come down on you and whisoer your hearts desires." Ariana said as she waved the puff pastry in fron of Lady Zula's nose. 
Ariana saw that Lady Zula would not budge she let out a long sigh. "Look, I'm not taking over your business. Rin has explained what goes on here and I believe your girls can sell their bodies in a different way. Not the way they are living now where they are risking their lives! B-U-T to make you feel more reassured about our little business transaction I can give you collateral." Ariana said as she put the pastry back on the tray and then crossed her arms.
Lady Zula's lips started to twitch. "What kind of collateral?" She asked as she carefully watched Ariana. "My life." Ariana said bluntly. Lady Zula laughed. "I don't mean you can kill me but rather I become your slave but only if this item can't generate enough gold to cover your losses of the first 3 months." Ariana said as she picked up the puff pastry again. 
"Interesting but why would I need a slave?" Lady Zula asked as she raised her eyebrow. "Slave to the kitchen. I will give you 10 recipes. 5 meals and 5 desserts that you can use or auction off. Sell them to the higest bidder and regain your losses while keeping me chained to your kitchen, coming up with new food or cooking your favourite foods." Ariana said with a shrug
Lady Zula started to relax and held out her hand for the puff pastry. "Do you seriously believe my girls will be able to bring in more profit from your plan then what they are currently doing?" Lady Zula asked arrogantly as Araian walked up to her and place the puff pastry in her hand. "My good lady, they will be able to pay off their debt to you in the first year and stay here by their own free will." Araian said with a small giggle.
Lady Zula raised the puff pastry in cheers as she smiled at Ariana. "We have a deal." Lady Zula said right before she bit into the pastry. Lady Zula instantly flushed with pleasure and started to fall backwards. 
The women started screaming Lady Zula's name as they rushed to her aid but to their surprise Lady Zula was gently embracing the puff pastry as she grinned like a fool. "Madam are you alright?' Ariel asked as she fanned Lady Zula's face. "I see angels." Lady Zula said with a dazed expression then took another bite.
Ariana looked at Rin and gave her a small nod. Rin then p[laced the platter of pastries ion top of the countertop. Ariana walked over and stood beside the pastries. "Now, who would like to try one?" Ariana asked as she waved her hand over the platter.


First Arc:

"Don't leave me! Just look at me and stay awake!" Words that haunted Ariana's dreams for as long as she remembered. Dying in the arms of her lover as they both are surrounded and engulfed in flames. 

However Ariana's quirks never stopped her from living her life. Her journey starts from when her adoptive mother sells her at the tender age of 12, afraid that she was stealing her adoptive father's love. A blow to her head unlocks her past life's memories and life skills. 

Any object she touches relating to her past life unlocks her past skills and education. Using her memories she changes the brothel she's sold to into a maid cafe, and slowly changes her community. 

While creatures called Lumas are born from her powers to protect Ariana but who are the Lumas really protecting? Especially when she gets her period on her 13th birthday and it morphs her into a humanoid garnet dragon.

Second Arc:

In a world full of magic, beast men, warriors, adventurers and elementals could there really be something more frightening then a girl with mixed blood? Garnet dragon, child of the jewel eyed priestess and the soul of someone who was summoned from Earth.

Ariana is fully awoken to who she is and has started her life in St. Verusha Academy as their perfect score student. She will have to grow into the young lady she wants to be while trying to unravel the mysteries of her life. 

With the help of Cayden, her childhood friend and the the Lumas, Ariana will discover the roads she can walk down. The only problem is will she choose destruction or human evolution? Love or world dominance? Revenge or forgiveness? Or will she allow her human mind and heart to be devoured by the darkness inside of her because of a massive betrayal from the one person she thought meant the most to her?

Third Arc

The bells of war have been wrung and Ariana has now chosen to save all of humanity. Though she has come to know many truths she still trusts in the relationships she's made and is willing to put everything on the line to become stronger. Her Lumas are evolving, Cayden is her true love that she will never let go, the Goddess of Creation needs her to complete the mission given to her and above all else  Ariana is determined to survive. 

Now with her new knowledge she abandons everyone from their own safety and travels to the Animus, the beast Kingdom to learn how to control her garnet dragon powers from her blood family and hoping that they wil aid her in the fight against Lord Romanoff, the robed army and the twisted church.

P R O L O G U E

Sprinting through the rain, I crossed the street as fast as the fellow pedestrians of New York City would allow.

It being not quick enough is putting it lightly. 

My desperate yet speedy attempt at staying dry had washed down to my socks along with the cascade of water from the sky. I sloshed through the streets, having given up on any hope of saving my minimal makeup.

Amongst the crowds of umbrella laden people, I slunk lower into my hoodie. Having forgotten that I had arrived just into New York's rainy season, I was not properly equipped.

Being back here again was a new flood of memories at every corner I turned.

To avoid the painful jolts of recognition at each building, I stared numbly at my entirely soaked blue trainers and the puddles reflecting the glittering, city lights around me. 

Only glancing up once in a while to make sure I didn't bump into anything or anyone.

Turning a sharp corner I burst into a night market. It was overloading my senses with coloured lights, aromas of street food, a cacophony of music, talking and the clatter of dishes. I stopped for a minute and just took in everything. 

I soaked up the nostalgic feeling for a second before moving forward.

I couldn't get too comfortable.

I didn't know why I was here or what I was planning on doing, but I knew what I was looking for.

My mind frantically resisted, trying to hold me back.

But my legs moved urgently forward, ignoring the pleas from my brain.

My breathing accelerated as I wove through people, tables and wares. I knew this place like the back of my hand. The little dip in the pavement right after Azim's Spice Shop was still there, even after all this time.

I resisted the urge to skid down it like I used to. After carefully stepping down, I continued my brisk walk.

I could hear my heart thundering and each one of my breaths, exiting with a little puff into the cool night air. Walking faster and faster, I dared to look up finally. Everything was the same. The little pastry shop with a sign so faded that no one knew its actual name. The owners had refused to get the sign renovated, claiming it was 'heritage' and should never be changed. 

BS in my opinion.

Nevertheless, it was there. He was there. Hopefully, maybe, no. Hopefully not.

I stepped up to the front door, drenched to the bone. I didn't really care but I tried to make myself presentable. Under the front awning of the little store, I wrung out what seemed like gallons of rainwater out of my clothes. After attempting to smooth my matted, tangled hair and scrubbing my makeup-streaked face with the sleeve of my hoodie, I stepped in.

The first thing I noticed was that there was a new tile floor.

Next, that it was warm. My freezing figure soaked in all the heat it could get.

A slight movement.

I looked up,

scared, 

hopeful,

tentative.

Mostly scared.

Face and body were frozen in time and place.

A chill went through me.

Then

awash in the golden light and warmth,

I smiled.

Relieved.

Tamara Quill does and doesn't want to know what happened to her best friend, partner in crime and nearly boyfriend West Crade after she left that one, fateful night.
After five years of being gone in search of her true self, she decides to reappear. Back in New York and more different than ever.
The horrors and wonders of the world have left her a changed person. Exhausted with the constant travel, she wants to continue their friendship and fix the mess she left behind.
But in those five years a lot changed,
Her family, her friends and mostly, her.

West Crade was never the open, sensitive type. 
Somehow, Tam got to him. She'd chipped away at his walls, eventually squirming through and making space for herself in his life. 
She was the best friend he had never had growing up.
It was so perfect.
 They were on a path to an amazing future together. As friends or maybe even more.
So he had hoped.
The night she disappeared was one of the worst he had in a long time. Heartbroken and betrayed he steeled himself even more. 
Never again would it happen, he promised himself.
After five quiet years she makes a reappearance.
West isn't sure that he wants anything to do with her anymore.
But she's changed far more than he did
And not for the better

"This wasn't what I was expecting at all from a treasure dungeon," Melting Snow said as he walked next to Xinya.
Cocking his head to look at him, Xinya asked, "What did you expect?" 
"Something more than this, I guess," Melting Snow begins. "I thought that there would be traps and monsters around every corner. We have been walking for 30 minutes and nothing exciting has happened at all." 
"Maybe the maze is the only challenge in this dungeon. I really wouldn't mind that, we can finally have a nice and easy adventure." Wandering Sound said, smiling slightly.
Shaking his head, Xinya said, "While I do wish that this would be an easy adventure, I sincerely doubt that we will be that lucky. Some kind of monster is bound to pop up."
"I know," Wandering Sound sighed. "It was just wishful thinking."
"I don't know, Drifting Cloud. I think that Wandering Sound might be right." Melting Snow said.
Rubbing Melting Snow's head with his free hand, Xinya said, "Just because nothing exciting is happening now, doesn't mean it won't later."
"Your right," Melting Snow said while nodding to himself, "I bet all we have to do is wait until we find the treasure, then the big bad to come out and attack us."
"The big bad?" Wandering Sound asked Melting Snow with furrowed eyebrows.
Smirking, Melting Snow said, "You know a boss monster, or if we are extremely lucky all of the bodies on the wall will come to life and attack us."
"Tell me, how would thousands of bodies attacking us be lucky?," Wandering Sound asked, with his mouth gaped open.
"Hmm... I have no clue," Melting Snow said while scratching his head. "But It would be the greatest experience I have ever had."
The three men continued to talk happily together about random things as they walked not noticing how quiet Wei was being. If they did then they would have realized that something was very wrong with her.
She may have appeared normal on the surface as she continued to walk behind the group, but in reality, her mind was a complete mess. Thoughts that wasn't her own kept swirling around her brain, these thoughts were horrifying and slowly eating her up from the inside. 
She wanted to talk to Xinya and tell him that something wasn't right, but every time she tried it was as if her words would get caught in her throat. No, it was more than that, to her it felt like something had invaded her mind and was messing with her.
Every time she tried to fight whatever was trying to take control of her, the thoughts in her head became louder. So loud that it drowned out every rational thought that she had.
Like a broken record player these thoughts kept repeating themselves over and over again. She started to succumb and started to think that maybe there was some credence to these thoughts. How she not when they made perfect sense to her.   
They think you are worthless.
You can't do anything on your own.
You are always causing problems for others.
They don't need you.
They are planning to get rid of you soon.
They plan to kill you and keep the treasure for themselves.   
Wei began to mouth these words repeatedly to herself, the more she did it the more her outlook changed. Soon the thoughts changed, becoming even more horrible until her mind felt as if it wasn't her own anymore. Everything around her became so jumbled, it got to the point where being near the others made her feel weary.
The light conversation that was going on around her became distorted when it reached her ears, taking on a sinister tone. Paranoia was starting to set in, slowly distorting every last bit of her reason. 
Everything that was once clear to her only a few minutes ago, became cloudy. All trust she had for her friends disappeared up in smoke and the only thing that prominent in her mind was that they were out to get her. 
'I won't let that happen,' she thought to herself, gripping the butt of her guns more tightly. She would be ready for them, she would show them that she didn't need them and then once they were dead, she would take the treasure for herself.

"I just remembered! You never gave me my fancy dessert."Melting Snow exclaimed stopping right in his tracks.
"Your right," gasped Xinya, stopping right next to Melting Snow. "Do you want to eat it now as we walk?"
Licking his lips, Melting Snow said, "Can I really?"
"Sure, the dessert I made for you doesn't need a plate, so we can eat it as we walk," Xinya said, already taking the puff pastry fruit pizza out of his inventory.
"They look delicious," Wandering Sound said, moving closer to the two.
Seeing how eager Wandering Sound was to have one of his desserts made him laugh a little. After Xinya handed one of the puff pizza pastries to Melting Snow he took out one for himself, before handing the box to Wandering Snow.
"Make sure to share it with Roaming Wind," Xinya said as he took a bite of pastry.
Xinya did notice how quiet she had been on the walk through the maze and wondered if she felt left out because of all the guy talk. Once they log out he will make it up to her, maybe they could watch a movie together and rate all the cute boys in it. 
When he had first moved in with her they spent the entire second night of his stay doing just that. He found it quite amusing, especially since Wei would make up strange criteria for the men to have. 
Coming out of his musings he finished his last bite of the puff pastry pizza and saw a notification pop up:
[Puff pastry fruit pizza buff has been activated, for four hours you will have: Mana +50 HP+50 Str+ 21 Sta+50]
Closing the notification he saw that Melting Snow was looking at him with a pout on his face. Seeing that Melting Snow had already finished his pastry, Xinya realized that he had probably wanted some of his. Smiling at the boy, he was going to tell him that he would make more for him later when he heard Wei's yell.
"You want to poison me, is that what you plan to do?!" Wei yelled accusingly at Wandering Sound, who now had Xinya's pastry all over him.
Confused, Xinya ran over to the two of them, "What is going on here?"   
"I know what you are trying to do! You think I'm worthless and want to get rid of me! You want to cut me out from having a part of the treasure!" She screamed half-crazed. "But I won't allow that to happen." 
Before Xinya could get a word out to deny those accusations, Wei had her guns pointed at all of them. That's when Xinya noticed that Wei's eyes were completely red.

"Why are you learning cooking? It's just a waste of a skill point."

"Your learning potions?! Are you daft there no point in doing that."

"Why did you pick that trash class? You will never make it in this game."

Xinya just ignored everyone, with a knowing smile he just paid them no mind because he knew they would be eating their words soon.

"I'm back," Haru said and entered the apartment. 

"Welcome back," Megumi said and walked toward him. 

Haru was a bit surprised and asked, "Megumi, have you been here?" 

Megumi nodded and said, "I have played and studied together with Sora." 

Haru took out a puff pastry that he had brought earlier. "It is puff pastry, you can eat it if you want." 

"Oh, thank you." Megumi took the puff pastry but didn't say anything afterward. She stared at him without saying anything. 

"...." Haru felt strange and moved his head closer to kiss her lips. "Delicious." 

"...." Megumi was red and said, "Is your body a bit different?" 

"Oh, right." Haru slapped his forehead and said, "There is a breakthrough on my magic." He walked inside to meet his sister. 

"Breakthrough?" Megumi was a bit curious. 

Haru hadn't told Megumi and Sora that his body had slightly changed and he also hadn't told them about the tattoo on his shoulders. He walked inside and saw that Sora was playing a game in the living room while eating potato chips. "You're going to become fat." 

Sora snorted and said, "Having fun outside?" She was quite annoyed when Haru didn't go back immediately. She knew that this guy went on a date with Utaha earlier. Even though she knew that they might talk about business and had accepted their relationship, she also was quite jealous since the time that he had spent with her had decreased.
