One of the things I like to do is to share novels that I enjoy reading. 
However, I only share those that are free so as to help (a little bit) of such a wonderful book not get lost in the thousands of novels out there in webnovel.
For convenience's sake, I will also put them here from now on.
This is the list as from 1 December 2019, and whatever titles I remember from previous recommendations. I will upload the earlier recommendations when I have the time (and amidst editing after the novel ends).
Below includes free and those that became contracted after it had been recommended (note, it wasn't because I recommended it, okay). heh. 
Also, note. At the time I recommend, I try to choose novels that will continue. However, whether it does, or not, is beyond my control. I bear no responsibility if the Author disappears, or if they do dro the novel (I don't like when that happens either, so I know the feeling).  
So any novels that I did recommend before, but hasn't updated for more than two months, I will not put in this list.
Free Novels (Alphabetical Order)
1. Immaculate Spirit by Newbiel (Magical Realism), Ongoing - Nathaniel, a teenage artistic genius in a coma for four years. Reawakened with another soul attached (Marc, CIA agent extraordinaire). It has music, action (spy and terrorist stuff). No regular updates, grammar is not perfect but in later chapters, there are editors (on and off). 
2. No Matter How Long Time Passes, I still Love you by Sweetflowlips (Romance), Ongoing - This is a refreshing take on the usual 'marry cold man - divorce' novels. First off, FL doesn't end up with the useless ex-husband and secondly, she's not such a wimp or flopping fish. /heh
3. Perfect match, Secret Marriage by caremel (Romance), Completed - 420 Chapters. 
4. The Prodigy: I Was Reborn And To Become A Saintess by _AngelGrace_(Fantasy Romance), Ongoing - A prodigy was reborn in a world of magic, into the body of a 'useless' Saintess - or so everyone thought. See how she overcomes the plots against her, makes herself powerful and collects men to her like bees to honey. Looks like reverse harem at the moment, but may be just one ML. There's magic, a bit of nation-building. Updates unstable but Author says will not drop.
5. TheUnion by CreamAndCookies (Fantasy), Completed -291 Chapters. It is fantasy medieval. Has romance, kingdom building and all the political intrigues. 
6. The Witch CEO is NOT a Demoness by SayuriHyuuga (Romance), Completed - 146 Chapters. FengJui, CEO and known to be like a dragon. Gets drunk, finds herself having a one-night stand (this may be viewed as r*pe since she was drunk) with a 'vagabond' (who is actually another CEO) that won't leave her alone now. R18.

Elyon knew that "Romance" is not his strong point. He writes a fantasy story with romance, but he can't tell if the romance will be able to attract female readers. Out of curiosity, he asked some of his fellow authors the question "Why do you read romance stories?"

Here are their answers…

Kyosei: Because I am single. 

Reili: To fill my empty void of a love life.

Minrei: Because romance let you feel what is to be loved, plus it is universal you dont need to learn magic or cultivation in order to read.

Bajj: Due to lack of romance irl.

Murakami: I read because I enjoy the friction and conflict between the FL and ML. The insistence vs resistance is naisu.

Qin: I reads romance only for ideas and info.

VlassisBehrakis: I don't read romance novels.

Elyon then  ̶a̶m̶b̶u̶s̶h̶e̶d̶ asked some readers about their opinion about romance novels.

Yin: I read romance novels because I want that kind of drama to happen to me in real life. But I know it will never happen haha.

A Certain Irresistible Meowlin: I wonder why? And I do read romance novels. Though the chance of me dropping them is also the highest out of all the genres. Every so often I come across a scene that makes me just want to squeal and fangirl.

Elyon decided to dig deeper and asked a few of his senior "romance authors" some questions about their reason for writing romance stories.

The first question is… Why did you choose to write Romance Stories?

Anjeeriku: I'm comfortable writing romance stories compared to other genres. I'm a helpless romantic person and I like novels that can invoke other people's feelings.

Bajj: First of all, I like reading romance story. It was the reason why I read books before and reading other genres comes after. All in all, due to these romance fiction books, I got the opportunity to read more great books with different genre.

MishaK: That's what I read, so write that too.

Zehell2218: Because as reader, I want to read romance novel so when I write, I write romance since my motto is I write what I want to read.

Ikazainudin: The easiest genre. Everyone can relate.

End_of_Era: It wasn't a full on Romance, it was slice of life with romance which I feel was necessary with progression of the characters.

The second question… When you were making your ML and FL, did you imagine yourself as the lead of your story at any given point in time?

Anjeeriku: I would be a liar if I said no. There were instances that I'd put myself in my FL's shoes. Whenever that happens, my writing feels more passionate and truthful that sometimes it was hard to know where my fl starts and where I end. 

Shen Yi, LMD's ML was based on a person I've lost, The One That Got Away so it was sometimes hard not to self-insert whenever there were scenes that need to invoke feelings from readers. 

Bajj: I believe that every character the author was making and breathing life into it, a part of him/her is added to its character. But me imagining of being the ML/FL, never. I'm too pure for that. Kek

MishaK: Yes I did but sometimes. Otherwise you can't infuse emotions in your characters. It is important to understand your characters.

Zehell2218: Yes, I imagine myself as the lead. Of course, I tweak it a bit, such as in age and appearance. But mostly, the characteristics is similar to me.

Ikazainudin: FL and ML character based on what I want to be irl. Yup. I imagine that will be my love story.

End_of_Era: Yes, my leads had some ocassional self insertion.

The third question… If you were to choose some other genre aside from romance, what would you pick?

Anjeeriku: Fantasy. I always look up to those authors who can write fantasy stories/novels well. I believe writing a fantasy novel is harder than writing romance.

Ai~ there's a few more that I won't add to the list because it will create a wall of text. Well anyways, the reason why I read these stories is to get an idea on "WHY" the ladies love to read them.

Let's just say that it's a unique way to see a world in the eye of a lady (if you are a man of course). When done properly, the execution of the story can capture the hearts of anyone, even male readers. I believe that no matter what gender you are, as long as you find the story interesting then it doesn't matter whether you are a guy or a gal no?

Perhaps, when I'm not too busy to write my stories, I'll once again pick a romance novel to read. Hopefully, I will find another hidden gem that will bring unexpected surprises to anyone who are lucky enough to find them.

My heart leaped from my chest as the strange person turned the corner. His stature and physical features were that of a human child, but his eyes were that of a demon. Not one speck of white was shown, only red, the same deep red from the orb. Surely he was the one that the monsters feared. "Well, where's the orb you two?"

"" Master's voice echoed, but just before she could finish the spell, the child's hand tore through the person in front of me. That person slowly turned invisible while coughing up blood.

"Marcia!" Jonah's voice barely resonated. My ears rang as I caught Marcia in my hands. "Bastard!"

"Jonah! Get them out of here!" Master stepped between the child and me. My magic seeped out of me, and all I could think of was how I wished I was better at healing.

"Master! I'll fight with you!" Jonah ran over to Master's side, ready for a fight.

"YOU'LL DIE! He's not someone we can fight."

"" I chanted as I was pulled away. Jonah ran. Pain coursed through me as Marcia took a deep breath. Ah! She's still alive. I clutched my chest as I threw Marcia over my shoulder and ran away from that- that red-eyed beast.

We ran while warding off monsters — nothing on our minds but to survive. Finally, we made it to the safe house, and after sealing the door, Jonah and I fell to the ground, covered in wounds. Death surely awaits us.

"Wake up! Wake up, or you will surely die! Wake up, my child! Awaken your powers and rescue your friends."

"But that kid will find us."

"That man has gone. Now leave and find help. Don't die here. WAKE UP!"

My body heated up. I opened my eyes, Jonah was on the floor beside me, and Marcia was sitting in a corner rocking back and forth. Every move brought searing pain, blinding me. I forced myself to my feet. If that kid is really gone, then I need to get Jonah to a doctor.

I picked my brother up and threw him over my shoulder. He groaned in pain. I headed over to Marcia; she backed away from me for a second, almost like she didn't recognize me. Her wound disappeared after I poured my magic into her, but she didn't seem right. I held my hand out, and she reluctantly reached for it.

I ran down the mountain with Marcia in tow. The sun peeked over the horizon as dawn passed over the forest. That village gets closer and closer. As I rush towards it, I only wish to run in the opposite direction. The weight of Jonah on my shoulders presses me forward. The people most important to me keep me from fleeing. They saved me from that village once, so now I'll use that village to save them.

A young boy who is rejected by his village finds himself being taken into a loving home by two other orphaned children. Their caregiver "Master" raises them to learn how to be a Guardian and protect the world from monsters by using magic.

Nick was an otaku. He loved reading novels and a particular novel had gained his particular obsession and devotion. The novel was one of the current top novels, a modern fantasy world novel with various heroes with different tropes.

It was the current blockbuster in the web novel world, with millions of readers and fans from around the world. Nick too was deeply engrossed in the theory making and lore of the world.

However, as the years passed, Nick could feel that the author was making up random stuff for the views. Nick felt like the novel was straying away from the true intentions, as the romance subplots all ended up in flames, the heroes actually ended up becoming villains and destroying the very world they inhabited due to infighting and many other dramatic reasons.

In the end the book ended on a tragic note that left a bitter and ugly taste in the readers mouth. Nick, in particular, began spamming 1 star reviews all over the review sites as well as bitching about the novel in the forums, writing his own theories about how the plot should have been realized.

One day, Nick received an email from the Author of the novel. 

"You don't like my novel? Then change it yourself!" 

That is all the mail said. In the mail was an attachment with the story. Nick was surprised at the Author mailing him and suspected that it might be an email hacking scam. 

But curiosity got the better of him and clicked the  download button. Suddenly, his eyes went dark. He couldn't feel his body anymore. He felt real, but also unreal. Like the life he had read until now had all been a dream. 

Suddenly, like a movie, all details, backstories, histories and the core story of Heroes Rising was burned into his consciousness and he remembered every bit of it. Nick was scared as he didn't understand what was going on. 

The inability to feel his body or see anything but darkness made him extremely uneasy, however, as if this too were a dream. It passed and he finally felt like he had woken up and could feel his body.

He opened his eyes and found himself standing with several other kids dressed in a weird combat uniform. Everyone looked straight ahead and he did too, to find a beautiful red haired woman with a glowing face, but a heroic air, looking at the students.

"Freshmen students, welcome to the Hexagon! I, Alena, as the student council president, welcomes you to this paragon institution training the next group of the world's heroes!"

In the crowd, Nick was dumbfounded. Alena? Hexagon? Isn't this from the beginning of Heroes Rising? 

Then a simple middle aged man with green hair, green beard and green eyes walked onto the podium. "Children, today you will take a step into the real world. To become heroes. To protect our world. As the principal, I look forward to seeing your rapid growth within Hexagon!"

Nick was stunned again. "Didn't this guy match the exact descriptions of principal Ruian from the novel? Could I entered the novel of Heroes Rising?" He wondered.

In panic, Nick began searching his body and found a card within his trouser pocket. He took the card out to see the details.

Nick Caritt, 18, Freshman Hexagon. Along with these details, there was a photograph attached. Nick looked at the photo and was a little surprised.

"Is this who I am? Nick Caritt... I actually don't look half bad, but this name was never mentioned in the novel. Looks like I was reborn as a fodder character." He thought to himself.

After the introductory assembly got over, the people slowly followed their lines to the class. Nick blindly followed the queue and ended up in the classroom.

Heroes Rising began in the hero university Hexagon. This arc had several important characters who would all go on to become one of the top heroes in the world.

Drake Snow was one of the main characters and had the biggest potential as the hero. He had a strong superpower dormant within his body, just like the other heroes. He had brown hair and looked very confident smile. He was also very handsome and girls would all flock to him. He was the perfect Hero Template character.

Then there was Hailey Bloom who was a female main character. With dark black long hair and a tall and strong personality, her attractive appearance made her the pick of the heroines. In the story, she had feelings for Drake but eventually the Author messed the situation up by having Drake fall in love with someone else.

John Crow was a main character with anti hero like tendencies. He had a rivalry with Drake and actually would like Hailey who always snubbed him. He was a powerful hero family scion who looked down on Drake.

Elly Still was the fourth main character in Nick's class. She was also the daughter of a super rich hero family and had feelings for John. She was also a powerful person in the future.

When Nick recollected these four and their complex relationships, he shook his head at the clusterf**k of a mess the Author had created off of these people's relationships.

 Nick didn't have much time to think, today the students would be measured for talents. The talent measuring device was a machine that analyzed the abilities and strengths of the testers and displayed them in digital terms.

The talent would be rated on a scale of 0 - 10. Nick was well aware of this scene. This was when the heroes would end up distinguishing themselves.

The teacher of Nick's class, a beautiful woman of the name Shu Qi, led the students to the talent testing room.

She looked at the students and spoke. "Today we will be testing the students for talent. No matter what talent the machine shows, remember that your hard world will lead you forward to success.

When Nick woke up one day, he discovered that his day had an extra 24 hours. 


[The idea is inspired by a chinese novel, which I didn't end up liking, but loved the initial concept.]

Lucian looked at Aileene and saw her lively expression, he didn't want her to be overworked. But it was something that Aileene seemed enthusiastic about, so he wasn't going to stop her. It was good for her to be able to interact with others too, even if it was with his ex-fiancee. Kira was an honest person and from what he knew of her, he hadn't known her very well as of present, but he didn't dislike her. He would have married her if not for his meeting with Aileene. She was a low-key person in the first place, so he was actually surprised that she would approach them now. It seemed that it wasn't only them that had changed, many weren't too far behind. 
"It's not inconveniencing for us to help," Lucian said at last, which was responded with a bright smile from Aileene and a brighter smile from Kira. He sighed seeing the two of them so hype for something so small, but a small smile couldn't help but find its way onto his lips. 
"It's not going to happen now, but there's a meeting scheduled Wednesday. Let's meet up at the library and head to the student council room together." Kira excitedly continued and wrote down a time for all of them to meet up, she was finally able to drag along someone that she wanted to befriend. So this was all good news to her, so good that all her actions were so quickly completed. It almost looked as if she was afraid that they would take back their agreement. "By the way, keep this new assembly a secret, only the student council knows of it thus far." 
Aileene nodded dutifully and Lucian watched on the side. For these two, he really began to feel as if he was the outsider. They continued to engage in simple small talk and he didn't intervene. Their interactions were just too good to be true, it made him doubt his own recollections. Had they met before, were they close? And if they were how was he completely clueless? Maybe it was just his own limited experience and unfair expectations. 
He wouldn't ever admit it aloud, but he had undoubtedly read some female romance fiction in the past.  It wasn't as if he had sought it out though, it was all from his mother's library. And because of his momentary curiosity, he pushed himself down a rabbit hole with no end. He had only wanted to know what she would do during her free time, so he thought to pick up some books from her library to read. Who knew that all the books that he had chosen and that his mother would read were piles and piles of cheesy romances with no real plot. It was just a cycle of:
Flirting  -> Misunderstanding -> Fighting -> Villains -> Rekindling -> Flirting -> Misunderstanding 
Lucian was completely surprised by how senseless every character would be, there were no exceptions and all of it was really a terrible sin. But he couldn't stop himself from reading them, no matter how horrible the book was. And he knew, he realized that all these books nowhere near classics, there was no reason to it, he kept coming back. All the novels would be similar to a fault too, each plot was barely changed enough to not be called plagiarism. But he never got bored with them. It was a point of shame for him, there was no excuse for him, a bona fide prince to be reading such filler novels. 
So eventually he stopped for his own sanity and whatever dignity he had left. Lucian had never touched that genre since. But faced with his own reality with Aileene, the first thought that he had was that it was quite similar to one of those cheesy romance novels that he had read. Even their titles were similar, they weren't normal people. They were all nobles and royalty. Which was a dime a dozen in these novels. He was a prince, Aileene was the daughter of a duke house, and Kira was the daughter of a marquess house. 
They were all people of prestige and they were all involved in a love triangle. A theoretical love triangle, since Kira had no feelings for him in real life. But if she did, then wouldn't it all just be like a novel? 
Aileene would be the kind and soft duke's daughter, the main character who fell in love with the prince of an opposing country. That prince was engaged to be wed to another, Kira, the daughter of a marquess and the principal of the academy they went to. The prince finally met the duke's daughter at the academy and he also fell in love with her. They get together at the opposition of their family. Kira is angered with jealousy and abuses Aileene with all her might, using her power at the academy. 
She would be the evil villainess who constantly tried to destroy their relationship, in the end when they got their happy ending she wouldn't have a good end. She would normally be banished and lose all her status or she could just be killed. Whatever the author felt would conclude the story quicker. 
Lucian shook his head, but all that was clearly not happening in real life. Aileene and Kira were still talking amiably, they were neither enemies or a bit opposed to each other and they didn't even seem to care about him, the romance target that they were after. They should be fighting for him if this was a cheesy romance novel of any kind, but it wasn't. He was glad for that. 
Though if he had to confess, he did have some unreasonable expectations for romance and how their affair would turn out. But everything was much smoother than he expected it to be. His warped perspective was incorrect and he was fine with that. He wouldn't want things to change since a peaceful environment and a good relationship with Aileene was better than anything else. He didn't need any more drama or excitement in his life. 


Vain, a new otome game pushed into the public, marketed a new type of experience. A self changing game with all decisions made by the player. 

Quests are unlocked by actions of the player, and the actions of the player, itself, are unlimited. Players are to type their own speech, dictate their own actions. Which in turn leaves the effect of the players actions unlimited. 

No endings are alike. 

No heroine are alike. 

All characters can change.

SA bahay niya siya dumiretso matapos nila gumala ni Maxine sa kalapit na mall ng coffee shop kung saan siya nito ginulo. Matama niyang nilapag sa kama niya ang hawak na laptop at nilapag sa sahig ang nakasukbit na sling bag sa balikat niya. Dali dali niya hinubad ang suot na t-shirt at nagpalit ng manipis na spaghetti strap sando. Inalis na din niya maging ang suot bra since nasa bahay na naman siya. Sunod niya pinalitan ang suot jeans saka naupo at binukas ang kanyang laptop.



Nag-log in siya sa mga social media accounts niya para i-check isa isa ang notofications at messages na pumasok. Ilan lang doon ang ni-reply-an pagkatapos at nag-log out na. Wala naman interesting sa news feed niya kaya hindi na siya nagtagal sa pag-o-online. Mas tinuon na lang niya ang pansin sa pagse-search nang maari niyang novel portrayer para bumalik ang gana siya sa pagsusulat. She always do that whenever she feel bored. Kahapon lang naman niya iniba ang pinagkaka-abalahan niya nang i-installed niya ang Swiped.



Napatingin siya sa kanyang cellphone. Curious siya kung nagreply na ba si Mikhail sa message niya. Dinampot niya iyon saka siya nag-log in sa Swiped account niya. Halos sumabog ang cellphone niya sa sunod sunod na message na pumasok. Pulos nanggaling iyon lahat sa mga lalaking gustong makausap siya. Twenty messages in total ang pumasok at kahit isa doon wala siya ni-reply-an. Isa lang naman ang gusto niya mag-message sa kanya. Iyon ay si Mikhail pero wala. Zero. Naiirita siyang nag-log out saka tinuon na ang atensyon niya laptop.



Matama niya pinagmasdan lahat ng litrato ng mga lalaking may potential na maging novel portrayer niya. Karamihan sa mga picture ay topless na pinakagusto niya sa lahat. Sa mga picture din na iyon niya hinuhugot ang description ng lalaking character sa novel niya. She saved on her download folder those picture that caught her attention. Aksidenteng nadaanan niya ang picture ni Mikhail na patok din pala sa website na iyon. 



"He has other social media accounts pala," sambit niya sa sarili. "Shit, bakit ba ang gwapo niya?" Tila may kung anong humaplos sa puso niya matapos makita yung isang picture ni Mikhail na may kasamang pasyente. It was a candid shot and she bet, Mikhail doesn't know that someone took a photo of it.



Another photo of him with his big family flashed on her laptop screen. May gumuhit na ngiti sa mga labi niya nang paglipat niya sa ibang picture ay bumungad naman ang kuha na may dalawang may edad nang babae ang nakahalik sa pisngi nito. Sino kaya sa dalawa ang nanay nito? Both woman were stunning in their owm way. The next photo was with two gentlemen standing side by side.



"Grabe, na-judge ko yata siya agad. Mukhang mabait naman talaga siya, dagdag pa na family at career oriented siya. Shocks, mukhang tama si Maxine na papasa siyang ideal guy." Pinagpatuloy niya ang pagba-browse hanggang sa matagpuan na lang niya ang sarili niya na isa isang sine-save sa downloads niya ang mga picture nito.



Tinubuan ka na nang crush sa lalaking ito, bulong niya sa kanyang isipan.




NATIGIL sa pagsusulat si Cathy nang wala na siya mainom na kape sa baso niya. She grpaned out of frustration. Walang kagana gana siyang tumayo para i-refill iyon. Binitbit niya anv cellphone niya para may mapaglibangan siya habang nagb-brew ng kape. Mabilis niya hinanda ang mga gagamitin saka inumpisahan na gawin iyon. Gaya ng plano, binukas niya ang cellphone niya saka nag-browse doon habang inabangan na matapos ma-brew ang kanyang kape. Isa ang kape sa hindi maaring maalis sa loob ng bahay niya. Kasangga niya kasi iyon sa tuwing naiisipan niya magpuyat kagaya ngayon para magtapos ng isang nobela.



She guided her eyeglass up as she continue scrolling on her feed. Nang mabagot, binukas naman niya ang Swiped account niya ulit. Mas dumami pa ang message na pumasok doon pero isa lang ang binasa niya. It was a message from Mikhail. After almost twenty four hours of waiting she finally got a reply from him. Binukas niya iyon at binasa.



Mikhail: Sorry for super late reply. I was in a fifteen hours flight from Madrid to Philippines. I also spent whole day catching up with my fam. 



Muntik na niya mabitiwan ang cellphone matapos mabasa iyon. Mikhail is here and breathing the same polluted air. She composed herself again and start to type a reply. 



Cathy: Its okay I didn't know that. Welcome to our country.



"Another lame reply, Catherine," aniya sa sarili.



Nang matapos mag-brew ang kapeng hinanda niya, agad siya nagsalin sa baso at tinimplahan iyon ng paborito niyang creamer. Nasipat niya ang cup board at halos lahat nang laman 'non ay paubos na. Muli niya dinampot ang cellphone upang i-check kung kailan siya susunod na kukuha ng cheque payment sa publishing house. While looking at it, a message from Mikhail popped up. Binukas niya iyon saka matamang binasa.



Mikhail: You're a writer, right? May I know the titles so I can buy it when I went to the mall later. 



Nasipat niya ang orasan at nakita niyang pasado alas singko na nang madaling araw. Bakit gising pa ito? Gano'n ba kapag doctor o dahil sa biglaang pagbabago ng oras saka klima kaya hirap ito? Sunod sunod siya napailing sa mga tanong na bigla na lang naglalabasan sa isipan niya. Agad niya sinagot ang message nito.



Cathy: All my novels were in Filipino language. You won't understand it.



Mikhail: No worries. I can actually understand a little Tagalog since I have a half Pinay sister.



Cathy: Seryoso – I mean are you serious?
Mikhail: Yes. So, tell me now the titles and I'll ask my sister to help looking for it.



Hindi siya agad nakapagreply sa message nito. Mukhang seryoso ito na malaman at mabili ang mga sinulat niya. Ibibigay ba niya dito o hindi? Sa kakaisip niya nang isasagot ay lumamig na ang kapeng iniinom niya. Napukaw siya nang muling umilaw ang cellphone niya. Its another message fron Mikhail. May sinend itong picture at halos manlaki ang mga mata niya nang makita iyon. It was a book copy of her erotic romance novel.



Mikhail: My sister is your avid reader. She has a copy of all your books. This book caught my attention. 



Cathy: Bwisit! Asfdhdkdkag



Mabilis siya nag-log out saka pinatay ang cellphone niya. Wala sa sarili niya nasapo ang magkabila niyang pisngi. Sa dinami dami naman ng sinulat niya, bakit iyong erotic romance pa ang nakakuha sa atensyon nito. She used all the vulgar words in that novel. Hindi muna siya mag-o-online sa mga susunod na araw.

Keeley ended up splashing around in the water and tried boogeyboarding with her sons. Violet did it exactly once before giving up because she biffed it and got water up her nose. Aaron, surprisingly, was the best out of everyone at it.
"Wow, Dad! Show me how you did that!" Oliver said excitedly after Aaron managed to ride a wave all the way to shore.
"Honestly, I'm not sure how I did it but I can give it another shot," he replied with a shrug. 
It definitely wasn't a fluke because he managed to do it four more times in a row. After that all three of the boys looked at him with something akin to awe. They begged him to help them go all the way too.
At that point Keeley rejoined her daughter on the sand. She was sipping an alcohol-free pina colada and was back to her book.
"I've only ever seen you read mystery novels," Violet said after a while. "Do you not like romance?"
She nearly snorted. She hadn't touched a romance novel since was she originally eighteen years old. First it was because she didn't have time and then because she was too disappointed in how her own love had turned out.
Even after her love life was flowing smoothly following her remarriage and re-falling in love with Aaron she still couldn't stomach them. They were so unrealistic and gave people unfair hopes. Real love didn't work like it did in novels.
A wry half-smile appeared on her face. "I had my heart broken a long time ago. That kind of turned me off from romance novels and chick flicks forever."
Violet appeared intrigued. Her mother had never talked about any previous boyfriends before. "Who was it?"
Well that was one question she couldn't answer honestly. She wasn't about to ruin her daughter's opinion of her father.
"A boy I met in high school. He had a rough home life and didn't know how to be in a relationship so in the end it didn't work out. I was bitter about it for a long time. That was probably way it took your dad a while to win me over," Keeley said with a touch of irony.
It took him so long to win her over because she wasn't sure she could trust him again. After that it was fear about Lacy Knighton and Alistair Hale that kept her heart closed off even once he was her best friend again. It took the woman getting murdered for Keeley to realize what she should have months before: that she was still hopelessly in love with her husband.
"I had no idea it took Dad time to win your heart. You guys are so perfect together I figured it must  have always been that way," Violet said before taking another slurp from her straw.
Keeley shook her head, feeling a bit sheepish.
"No, it took us a while. I met him during the last half of my senior year of high school and wasn't open to love at all because of what happened before. We were apart for five and a half years before meeting up again. Even then he still had to work pretty hard to convince me to give him a chance."
Violet laughed. "Someone should make a romance novel out of your love story. I bet people would eat it up."
Ah, if only she knew. There was already a telenovela about it. But nobody knew that except for her. It was a secret she managed to keep from Aaron somehow after all these years. She didn't see the point in bringing it up and hurting his feelings unnecessarily.
"People do tend to like a persistent male lead, don't they?" Keeley asked lightly. "Your father is probably the most patient person I've ever met. He wanted only me and did everything imaginable to make that happen."
"I wish someone would love me that much." Her daughter sighed dreamily before continuing. 
"The book I'm reading is kind of like that too. The characters were apart for more than ten years because she accidentally gave him the wrong phone number. It was one digit off. But he never stopped loving her and ended up finding her again as she was engaged to a jerk."
That sounded like a classic romance novel to Keeley. She didn't think Violet was sentimental enough to enjoy that sort of thing though. She was normally so studious.
When she was younger she read a lot of historical fiction and fantasy novels. This romance novel phase was definitely a more recent development. Well, she was at a very romantic age.
Keeley had to wonder though. Violet said she wanted someone to love her as much as Aaron loved Keeley. Did she not realize Noah's feelings?
It was fairly obvious to both the Hale and Singleton parents that Noah's childish obsession with Violet as a playmate had evolved into an actual crush as he got older. The type of love she was talking about what mushy, sentimental, and supportive. A best friend relationship.
Aside from the mushiness…didn't she already have that with Noah? The boy went to every recital or concert she ever had and always showed up with flowers. How had she not realized her best friend liked her?
"Vi, I don't mean to pry into your business…but do you like Noah?" Keeley asked gently. 
The shock on her daughter's face was genuine. "Are you crazy?! Liking Noah is basically the same thing as liking Kaleb!"
Ah, the poor kid. He was going to get his hopes crushed. Keeley and Jennica had talked about it before. It was completely obvious he liked Violet as more than a friend.
For his sake, she hoped it passed soon and he was able to find someone who liked him back but at the same time…what would happen to her innocent 'I only need one person' daughter when Noah eventually fell in love with someone else?
"He's my best friend," Violet continued. "You don't fall in love with your best friend."
She sounded so certain and yet…it was a large part of the reason she was alive right now. Discounting all of the reincarnation stuff that came later, Keeley never would have married Aaron the first time if they hadn't already been best friends.
She couldn't say that now though since she had already told her daughter that it took time for him to win her over. After all this time, keeping her lies straight about who knew what from which lifetime was still confusing.
The only person who know the whole truth, oddly enough, was Aiden. Aaron had told her how he figured it out on his own the day Oliver was born. That had been shocking to say the least
Although he didn't know everything Aaron did because he had been too embarrassed to share how badly he screwed up with the woman he loved. But he was the only other person alive who knew about their double reincarnation.


Keeley, a simple plain Jane, hits the jackpot.  [No, she did not win the lottery!]  At least that's what she thinks when she marries the most eligible bachelor in New York City: Aaron, a wealthy cold-hearted heartthrob and Tycoon. 

She wants to show the world that she deserves her position and bends over  backward to fit into his world.

One beautiful day, Aaron hands her a document asking her to sign.  A divorce paper...
