The world has been through a lot. Monsters from another world raged hard on our planet, killing half of the population. It looked liked humanity was finally down for the count, with no hope of survival.

After I found out that what we are currently learning is spellcasting and not magic I was surprised. It wasn't explicitly mentioned anywhere, but I was able to build a theory from all the scraps of information I had found until Sunday night.
Now while lying in bed, I started to organize all the information gathered so far.
Magic is not spellcasting, but spellcasting is magic.
Spellcasting is an easier version of magic.
Magic consists of many things and thus branched into many fields. However, all magic is cast mostly in the same way, by channeling magic. 
At least 30% of the magic process is always channeling magic. Other parts can differ greatly depending on the branch of magic being used. 
Wands are actually unneeded tools created to make using magic easier. 
It is not much, but that is enough to topple my understanding of the world. My knowledge was based solely on films and I knew that it wasn't accurate, but not that much!
Apparently, magic wands are a European instrument for channeling magic that became vastly popular in America, because it makes channeling of magic easier and faster. However, other continents and regions don't consider wands mandatory part of wizard equipment. 
I pieced it out from wand making books and some history books, where wizards from Japan and China were mentioned. It was never specified that they did not use wands, but from the description of some of their actions I understood simple truth, they used hands to do magic. 
That made me remember, that Dumbledore did not use any words as well after sorting ceremony to call music or other magical stuff, so chanting spells is unneeded to do magic. That got me thinking about why we are using wands or chant words if we can use magic just via hands, silently.
That led to me reading the book of charms for the first year and in actuality, it does not explain one bit how to do magic or how it works! However, it explains how to cast some specific spells by spelling out Latin words and doing specific gestures with wands. 
At that point, I understood, that I needed to practice and experiment with spells, but I was too tired to go out of bed and looking for stuff to experiment with or place where I can do so safely. Moreover, it was very late, so I needed to go to sleep because tomorrow a new study week is starting. 
That's when I thought about the spells menu.

Then I focused on the only spell in it.

I saw kind of hologram of a hand with wand doing some gestures, moving in a specific way and directions and words 'Incendio' were said during these movements. Words started with movements and ended with them as well.
After that, the wand spits fire from the tip.
I tried time and time again while paying attention to my feelings, body, and wand in my hands. At first, I haven't felt anything but as time passed. I was doing better with the spell and even succeeded once to cast it… by luck. But anyway! Soon, I noticed that if I do move correctly and follow with words, my spell is cast successfully, however, if do a mistake right at the last moment I feel slight discomfort inside my body. 
That is not solid proof, but my theory so far is that spellcasting makes the process of magic simpler. Rather than consciously controlling magic, your precise gestures and words have the same effect. And wands make that process so much easier by simplifying channeling of magic. 
Basically, you have no idea how magic actually works when you do it. Thus, you just know how to cast a spell and nothing more. This is why I call it spellcasting for now. I have not found any official terminology for that. Learning pure magic without wands is indeed harder. I am studying topic with system abilities, for 2 days straight with an adult mentality and I barely scratched the surface, while following some commands I was able to nearly master casting of one spell in a span of… an hour? Maximum hour and a half. 
After thinking, theorizing and practicing spell for a very long time, it was around midnight. That is when I received another notification.

Then I noticed how late it is and decided that it's time to sleep.

Breakfast went calm and Gryffindor was informed of their flying lesson in the coming Thursday. Well, not that it matters to me. I was still engrossed in understanding how magic works. 
I decided for myself, that I can't let myself fail and need to concentrate on subjects at hand and then go into personal researches. Otherwise, fail will be my only result. 
I concentrated on my studies and finishing all the books of the first-year program. And compared to books I read before, I was not reading them for skills or research. I was really studying and memorizing them to pass exams with ease. That meant I spend more time on each book and have to reread them to further memorize the content. 
As a result of me, having a clear goal, time was passing horrendously fast. Sometimes, I wished to have more time in a day. I was getting notifications left and right, while studying, but I mostly ignored them, because there was only herbology skill with new abilities, while other new skills needed to reach a minimum of 15 to grant an ability. As for upgrades I needed to reach 25 or 30 in corresponding skills.
Thanks to rigorous training, by Wednesday evening I got to level 5.

Afterwards, I was reborn in the different world with the system from my favorite game! However, there was a catch - I had negligible amount of knowledge about this universe.

The entrance led straight to the village square, Rastel saw different races of humans, dwarves, beastmen, elves and even a few draconians, but mostly humans, there were a lot of humans.
The square also served as a market place as many people were going about buying and selling with stalls set up. Among the populace, he could recognize the players by the green arrow suspended above their heads. Players accounted for a substantial amount of the village's population.
The first thing he needed was spells. The system did not give anything other than the money and dagger, no skills were given to players, and he had to get those for himself.
The system allowed you to gain skills by learning from a school or you could create skills for yourself by gaining enlighten1ment and practicing moves. There were no skill points to upgrade skills. The level and power of your skills depended entirely on your proficiency with it, how much you use it and your base stats.
Although there were no skill points, there were stat points with 3 points given for every level up, with the basic stats being; Strength, Dexterity, Agility, Mentality, intelligence and Stamina. There were also minor stats such as mana and physical resistance, poison resistance etc. Those are affected by the base stats and any extra effort the player put into developing them.
Rastel pulled up his profile by swiping down the right side of his vision. His level, basic stats and skills were shown.

He sighed when he saw it, muan's basic strength really is incredibly weak. 3 strength? What the heck was that!? That's the strength of a normal human child! He swiped up the screen and moved into the crowd to look for a library. The best and easiest way for him to get skills was by reading books.
A player found out about this hack about three months into the game's release. As long as you finished a book on some particular skill, you automatically learn it. The only set back was that it had to be an easy basic skill.
The player also found out something a little bit special. Muan characters could increase their intelligence and mentality stat through reading books! It was an ability exclusively given to muans, just like how elves had affinity to magic or human races had bloodline powers.
Although it sounded easy, most players disregarded it because they felt it was a waste of time. They would rather find instructors to teach them or figure it out themselves as it was more fun. Besides who could sit down in a library reading books when there were adventures to be had? They weren't a lot of muan players anyway.
But to people like Rastel who loved books, it was very convenient. It was even one of the major reasons why he chose the class in the first place.
As he moved through the crowd, he was able to appreciate the game more, everything was so real! He also felt the rarity of the muan race as he only saw about two or three muans with none been NPC's (none player characters).
He walked around for about thirty minutes but still couldn't find the library. He sat down on a wooden box near an alley tired.
"Why is it so hard to find the library in this village!" he cried.
"Are you lost mister?" a tiny voice sounded beside him.
"Eh, who's there?" he looked around.
A girl beastman came out from behind one of the boxes and looked at him inquisitively with wide eyes.
"Are you looking for the library?" she asked.
Rastel looked at her, she had long blonde hair and feline ears and round yellow eyes. A long brown tail came out of her back and she was dressed in a plain black dress.
He smiled at her, "Yeah, can you tell me where it is?"
She pointed to the building right across the road. It was medium sized and had a diagram of a book in front of it.
"It's right there", she said laughing.
He turned around to look at her sheepishly scratching the back of his head.
"Ha....haha, I didn't see it since I was so tired I guess"
"You are funny mister" she laughed at him again.
"Thanks girl, what's your name by the way?" he asked.
"Lou" she said smiling.
"Alright Lou, thanks for the directions, here's five kryts to get yourself something" he took out five kryts from his pouch and gave it to her.
"Thanks" she said as she took the money and disappeared down the alley.
He watched her go before crossing the road and entering the library.
It was really small for a library, there were about fifteen big shelves, and three small ones by the librarian's counter which were probably for special books. The shelves were arranged around the walls leaving the middle open to be used as a reading area. Tables and chairs filled this spot.
There were only two people there, an old dark skinned human man with a pretty girl with light brown skin who looked around 16 sitting at a table. They both had green arrows suspended above them showing they were players.
Rastel walked to the librarian, a middle-aged elf woman with glasses to ask about the library. He had to admit, elves really were beautiful. Even at that age the librarian still looked attractively charming, although he was not really sure what her age was. Elves aged slowly.
"I'd like to use the library" he said smiling.
The librarian smiled back revealing a perfect set of teeth as she answered, "No problem, it's free. You would have to pay an amount of 15 kryts if you want to borrow a book though"
"No need, I'm just reading" he said and went to the first shelf.
He looked at all the books there then sighed, this was going take a long time. He took the first ten books on the shelf and went to a table opposite the old man and the girl. The man raised his head from the book he was reading to look at him, he smiled at him and nodded. He nodded back then sat down. The girl kept on reading, too concentrated to pay attention to her surroundings.
For the next 1 week in game, Rastel only read books in the library once he logged in. This accounted for about 3 days in the normal world, time ran 3 times faster in the game. He spent all his money buying bread to keep his Hp up as he read, it was possible to die from starvation. He finished the books in the library shelve after shelve gaining multiple skills as he went.
Magic, mining, herb gathering, forgery, he gained basic proficiency in a lot of skills. There were so many notifications for learnt skills he grew numb to the "PING!" sound that accompanied each one. The old man and the girl were also there throughout the time reading, it seemed like they also wanted to finish the books there.
Rastel was a fast reader and finished all the books within the week. By that time, the old man and girl were barely finished. He was already familiar with them and greeted them as he dropped of the last books on the shelf.
"Old man, it seems I'll be leaving you here"
"Indeed, you're quite the fast reader" the man said laughing.
The girl looked up at him then smiled shyly, she went back to the book afterwards.
"I'll be on my way then, take care of yourself old man" he waved as he left.
"You too young lad, we'll meet again if we're fated". The old man called out.
Rastel said goodbye to the librarian too as he left. They had grown friendlier as he continuously visited to the library.
He stepped outside and felt the sun on his face. It was time for him to start his adventures for real.
Reading all the books in the library gave him 30 points to his intelligence and 23 to his mentality. For a mage, this was the best since his attack power would greatly increase and so would his mana.
He found his way to the village gates, it was time to go hunting. He was down to 4 kryts, a pitiful amount, and needed to make more money and also increase his level.
He was still at level 0 after all this while.

Zircon shifted her eyes to me, watching me getting hugged by Behemoth and Mirai. She gave me a troubled expression as she spoke. "Very well." 

Tanzanite became stupefied and stopped her sister. "W-Wait! This can't be right!"

"Dear sister, he didn't discriminate against the quest's restriction." Zircon gave her reason clearly.

Tanzanite pointed at Behemoth. "B-But he received help from that cute cat!" 

Behemoth overheard their conversation and hissed. "I'm not cute!!" 

"Eek!" Tanzanite flew back after seeing Behemoth hissing. Including, the fact that she didn't fully understand what the cat was saying.

"It was our fault for not noticing the cat." Turquoise shook her head, sighing. 

Zircon nodded to Turquoise. "Now that you understand. May you, dear sister?"

'Looks like they're going to reward me. Perfect.' I smirked.

Not wasting a second, I instantly activated my hidden skill.

'...hah.. what?' I blinked a couple of times just from looking at my level.

And without a doubt, I really did level up to 46. 'Will I be able to get 'that contract' this time?'

Turquoise noticed me standing there being shocked a few moments ago, she mused. 'What is it that made him look so surprised before?'

Thankfully, her book had the answer to her question when it flickered light, shaking in her arms. 

Turquoise wondered why it was acting this way, so she opened her book. When she did, she freezed from pure bewilderment after reading the information. 

Zircon became aware of Turquoise and asked. "Dear sister, are you okay?"

Turquoise was too speechless to explain a word which was why she just handed her book to Zircon.

"Hm?" Zircon took the book, feeling rather puzzled but still she read it.

Tanzanite wanted to join in, hence why she leaned over to Zircon, staring at the book. 

"Hey~ What are you reading..?" Tanzanite who had a mood swing, asked with her voice going from cheerful to a sudden confusion.

Turquoise tried to act calm when she said, ignoring the information she just saw. "I'll bring the 'Last' player to stage #8.." 

Zircon and Tanzanite floated there, reading the book as if to clarify the information.

Meanwhile, Turquoise flew toward me which stopped me from looking at my status. "I shall take you to stage #8. So please everyone close your eyes."

I nodded to her and looked at my comrades, asking. "Are you ready?" 

"Yes, Captain! Ready as always!" Mirai answered while blushing. 

Behemoth interrupted her. "We're always ready when you are! Master!"

Both of them soon glared at each other, gritting their teeth with a hiss.

Raiden chuckled from witnessing the familiar scene before staring at me. "Will we get to talk when we're up there?" 

I shrugged. "It depends. Plus, you already know how hectic it is on the surface." 

"Stage #8 isn't that dangerous."

"I know." I smiled and reminded them. "You'll need to get the 'Numbers' by yourself."

"Yes, Sensei." Raiden bowed. "You two! Stop fighting over there!" 

"Hmph!" Mirai looked away with her arms crossed while Behemoth hissed at her. 

"We need to get the 'Numbers' when we're up there. That's an order from Sensei." 

"I bet I can get them faster than you, Incy Wincy spider." Behemoth challenged Mirai, climbing onto Raiden's head.

Mirai became irritated to the point that she felt as though her blood was boiling from exasperation. "I told you not to call me that!!"

Raiden bellowed at them before things got worse. "Urusai!"

I laughed, seeing how they were still the same after such a long time. "Childish as ever. Haha." 

Mirai pouted and went toward me, so she could smack me gently in the chest. "Captain, you baka, don't laugh! 

I held her hands and told them with a serious expression on my face. "Everyone. It's time to go."

Wang JoonChul, a part timer who bought a VR headset to finally play VR game, got home from his work.

However, instead of playing a wonderful game, he ended up in another world with 999 other people. 

Trapped in a random world, and received a game like system, everyone who was sent there, were supposed to defend Earth from its destruction by an ‘Evil Being’.

White, very white, other than that there's no way Zhong Yue can describe the place she's in. Chair white, table white, book white, ceiling white, walls white, fan white and a strange floating orb also white. She can guess what happened to her.

"Host, can you hear me?" A childish voice sounded across the room.

I can hear you quite clearly, but must I believe so, Yue thought.

"Host, do you want to know how you died?" An intriguing tone came.

It's a system. I must have died in my sleep after all.

"Host?"

"Do tell." Although she can guess, she still wanted to know.

The white book flashed and floated from the table in front of her. Pages flipped and stopped and on it, a picture started moving. It was her on her bed. Black curly hair, cream pale skin, long black eyelashes, slender hands and legs curled up in a ball. A beauty, she is.

And then, she rolled... off the bed. Her head struck the floor and like that she died?!

Yue could tell that now her eyes must have enlarged quite shocked at the scene.

Can't believe I died that way!

"Host..."

"Say which system are you? What do I have to do? Is there's a beginner's pack? And any rewards at the end?" She didn't want to hear any comforting words about such an awkward incident. She wanted to know what would happen from now on. She had no regrets. Although she still wanted to do much more in her life.

"Host, I'm Hong Yue, #0078 Treasure Saving System. I will help you across the worlds in saving the treasures that should have protected the world in incoming crises but because of the protagonist of that world, they were used up or destroyed leading to the world's destruction afterwards."

Quite a protagonist they are, destroying the world instead of saving it.

"Since the host don't has any specialities that may help ahead, I will provide the host with 3 skills to choose from which you can learn and 1000 points as starting value."

Saying I don't have any specialities that may help is very rude.

"Host, you will be able to save yourself from death upon collecting enough life points at the end. And, host may shift between the real world and other previously visited worlds upon collecting their fragments."

So, I have a chance to resurrect and cross in-between the visited worlds. Not bad!

Campus Romance, while she's a fan of such but it's still tough to go against the protagonist in these as they will be supported by their lovers heavily. Showbiz absolutely can't be because she's not good at acting. Only gaming is left.

"Command initiated." That was the last childish voice Yue heard before she was sent in a room alone with a manual for coding and PC for practicing.

It was tiring and stressing.

She spent a whole week before she was able to finish learning Coding at Beginner's stage. She was now adapted at creating a game with exceptional game play, dialogues and animations. And simple apps and programmes were too easy to make. At least, now she was able to recreate a Tomb Raider II from her skills. It turned to be very beneficial for her to bind with this system. After she goes back to her world, she will be exceptional in her studies and will be able to outshine others very well.

The white book flashed in front of her. It was now able to come before her whenever she thought of it. More convenient than Hong Yue.

Pages flashed and stopped at her details.

Zhong Yue, an addicted novel reader, died by a silly accident. She fell off her bed. Opening her eyes and finding herself in a white room, she realised that she was chosen. But why? She had yet to know. Will she find as she travels through the worlds? Or will she discover another life?

Day 4

Fuwaaah~h!
A good nights rest after a whole day of scheming really hits the spot. If only this cave wasn't so cold, It would have been a real bliss.
What I came up with after a long time of strategizing and molding my plans is a risky plan that, if it succeeds, will allow me to become stronger and, if possible, safely leave the cave.
Or at least leave this room as I'm not sure how big the actual cave around it is.
I just know there should be a cave that connects this room to the outside...
In short, my hidey-hole has been used as a research lab while strategizing this plan of mine.
And I should tell you, I found out quite a lot yesterday.
For starters, my status reading skill is actually quite a cheat as it does much more than simply read a status. It is more like having a small library that expands as you are getting stronger. That is why I believe learning magic won't be too big of a deal for me... Once I become stronger, I will also be able to precisely know, in a digit, how strong someone is as well as how much my every strike hurts my enemies, that way I won't need to waste stamina and other resources by doing an overkill move.
Besides the cheating part, when I read the info on 'Status Reading' the first time I failed to notice that it isn't exclusive to those who possess the 'touch of divinity'. It is just that it was obtained that way in my case.
This means that 'Status Reading' isn't as rare as I thought it would be, but its rarity should still be quite high... Just not unique.
Concerning the 'Touch of Divinity'...
It seems that my 'Status Reading' is still too low to show it in my status, and I myself am not sure yet if I should count it as a skill or what?
Since it seems to empower one thing it should mean that it is like some single-use ability that permanently cheat-boosts one thing. I think that, once I leave the cave and possibly find human settlements, I should visit a library or anything that might contain this world's history, as well as the history of The Church and its heroes.
But, concerning the 'Touch of Divinity' itself, I won't fiddle too much into it for now, since I don't want to screw something up and I do have only a single try...
Also, I gave some more attention to my skills, doing some more detailed scanning, and then confirming the little info I am able to get from 'Status  Reading' at my level.
First of all, venom fangs right now only have a paralysis-inducing venom, which is alright and all, but it would have been better to have something more lethal. Off course this venom is still able to kill but only if the dose is high enough and I can't really test how much of the venom is needed to even paralyze my stronger siblings, let alone, kill them...
My second skill is my soft scales, which are my main line of defense.
As I am still just a baby snake that only recently hatched, my scales are very weak even against all of the before mentioned external influences.
Those influences being fire, chemicals, blunt force and sharpness.
But still, any defense is much better than no defense.
If I get a chance I would like to focus on strengthening my scales to increase my defenses, since it would benefit me quite a lot.
As for my third skill...
Now, I know what you might be thinking:
"His third skill is status reading, we already know that just proceed with the story!"

What if I can add skills to myself by doing the tasks associated with the possible skill?
For instance, taking a medium-sized rock, one that I can envelop with the entirety of my body, and then crushing it with all of my force...

Not a real shocker, I understand... But any skill I can get my hands on will greatly increasse my rate of survival.
You probably noticed how the skill emphasized the word 'Lesser'.
I'm not sure if I completely understood what status reading meant, but if I am correct it should go like this:
Imagine if I learn 'Fire Magic' skill. This would be a skill that by itself has multiple abilities. We can call it a "Root skill". This "Root skill" is a skill that actually branches out into abilities that we use through the use of the skill itself. Let's say I get my 'Fire Magic' to level 1 and it awards me a 'Fireball' ability. In that case, I can use 'Fireball' through the 'Fire Magic' skill. Basically, that is how it works based on my understanding...
But what happens if I learn 'Fireball' before learning 'Fire Magic' skill?
That is where the 'Lesser' thing comes in, as it would turn what would normally be an ability of a root skill into a lesser skill so it can stand by itself.
How it works exactly I'm not sure yet but that is how much I think I understood...
Buts seeing how I can level up this lesser skill of mine, it should mean that it might evolve into the actual root skill it comes from. So it is worth getting even lesser skill as it would reward me quite a bit later on.
Also, from what I understand right now regarding skills, they have 2 basic usage types:
Passive, which is constantly turned on and requires no resource to maintain.
Active, which usually has a charge time and it almost always uses a resource.
These are the two that I managed to confirm through my research and hypothesizing. Of course, not all of my guesses might be right, hell, maybe none of them are, but from my intense isekai novel knowledge I should at least be close to correct with some of the guesses.
Besides the usage types, that I just went through, there are also skill kinds. 
Such as: biological, physical, magical and special, that I know of...
Biological skill is the one that you use a specialized body part or technique to use, be it naturally obtained or formed by other means, if it uses no magic and is developed by evolution it categorizes under (bio). 
'Lesser strangle' fits under physical skills as it uses physical force to use. I guess that humans use martial arts as physical skills. That sounds novel-ish enough.
I didn't come in contact with any magic skills yet, but it is safe to say they do exist seeing the info on the skills I do have.
Special skills are skills that don't really meet any single criteria and are very rare. My status reading, which is also a special skill, is acting a bit dodgy when I try to inquire anything more, so I simply gave up on the subject...
Alright, now that we got over that confusing bit let me introduce you to my plan.
First I will level up my strangle skill as much as I can for the rest of the day, it would be great if it reaches level 4 or 5 as it should max out around that number. I believe lesser skill have around 5 levels before they become their root skill, and it would really help me out a lot if I manage to get my first root skill.
After grinding my strangle, I will go out to see if there are any siblings of mine that are defenselessly sleeping or eating.
If I do manage to find one of them close to my hidey-hole, I will go and use the whole poison sack worth of venom into him or her. That should definitely knock them out if not kill them...
I will then proceed to pull the corpse while I move as fast as I can towards my hidey-hole.
In case I run, er~, slither into trouble, I will use strangle to choke out my competition.
Just stopping the blood flow to their small serpent brain for a few seconds should knock them out cold for a couple of minutes.
But this strangle tactic is too risky so I will do my best to avoid it as much as I can.
Since my siblings outside are all bigger than me, I should really look out if any of them already evolved into something that specializes in physical force, rather than venom. If such a thing happens, I'll be in a lot of trouble.
So in a nutshell, I snatch one of my siblings, then rush them to my hidey-hole, and then safely eat them. This should steadily give me xp to level up so I can more comfortably slither around this cave room. 
And getting stronger means I will eventually be able to kill one of those molten things...
That is right! I figured out what left that big scorched hole the other day.
It was one of my biggest siblings!
I even managed to Status Read him just before he left again.

Yep, to my surprise it has 'Fire breath' which isn't magic but bio skill.
Also, it seems that once you evolve it automatically puts you at level 1 of that new species you evolve into.
I know this since I saw siblings who are still the same species as me at level 4 and some even on level 5...
While I am still here, sitting at level 1...
Ehhh~, how unfair the world can be...
But I will change the flow of power in this snake den, even if it costs me my eye, or my fangs I will survive!
Alright, now that the pep talk is over I should start training my strangle and level it up as much as I can. If I manage to boost it all the way up to its root skill, I will get another trump card to assist me in surviving this snake den and the cave after it.
As for the evolution than my oldest siblings took, it seems there are multiple choices so I will give it some thought what should be my best choice for evolution. Even if I try checking my 'Status Reading' about my evolutionary options, it would just say that I am too weak right now.
I hope I qualify for that information before my time to evolve comes so that I know what I am getting myself into, as blindly evolving could get me to a dead end by choosing an evolution that has too little evolution potential.
My best choice would be the one with the most evolution choices as it should be the strongest.
Of course, the one with the most choices will probably have the weakest early evolutions... but it will be totally worth it in a long run!

My body hurts so~o much from all that training...
But it was not for nothing!
Besides getting a strong pain in my muscles I also got 'Lesser Strangle' to become its root skill!
