So I decided to begin my checklist, which should have been expected since I have nothing... Wait, I never checked my inventory.

This world is at least slightly forgiving at least, since they gave me some copper tools to use (Pickaxe, Ax, Shortsword). Now where was I...

Oh right, the checklist.

Since I am in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a set of tools I decided the first thing I needed is shelter. And it was quite the enlightening experience trying to build one, especially the part where I gathered materials.

I was prepared to suffer through the trouble of cutting a tree down, but apparently if you just touch any part of the tree with enough force, the tree just starts cracking like you were using an excessive amount of force to cut it down. I immediately tried doing that with the large rocks lying around, but to my surprise, the ax just went through the rock like it wasn't there.

I immediately switched to my pickaxe to test if it worked on the rocks, and it did the opposite of the ax, cutting through stone yet phasing through wood. I do not understand this world in the slightest, and it is at times like these that I wish I did.

After sating my curiosity, I immediately went back to cutting down the tree, which had taken several swings to break. I braced for the tree to fall over, and it took me a few seconds to realize that the tree had effectively just collapsed into a pile of thick wooden planks, as well as acorns the size of my head. My only thought when I saw that was to exclaim "What the hell?" somewhat quietly. I really am starting to doubt my sanity when it comes to this, and I have so many reasons to start having another existential crisis, such as the green slime bouncing over to me right now.

WAIT WHAT

Oh my, I should have guessed it since I have an inventory. Slime are literally staple monsters when it comes to fantasy.

So apparently there are slime that just roam the forests around here, and they are possibly aggressive. This day just keeps getting better and better...

After carefully stepping out of the way of the slime, I began collecting the wood that had 'dropped' from the tree. It had to be used to craft at least something useful, right?

I could not be more correct.

I could make a workbench to make wooden items, or even a furnace or anvil. But the real find was that I could make doors and furniture for my home, so I can feel at least somewhat safe in this plain.

While I was going on a lumberjack spree, I found my second great find of the day: a cave. it was a little dark, but I could see a few glittering stones hidden in those shadows. 

For the moment, the cave is a low priority compared to a home. 

Well enough about things other than my progress on building a home, lets get right into things.

This is where I truly began questioning reality, because apparently gravity is only applicable to living beings. I only found this out because I began building the house without any supports, only to realize this when I saw a 5 meter long square being held up by a pillar situated in the corner of the 'home-in-progress'.

After seeing this, I decided to test something, and broke the pillar holding the roof up.

...

Yup, gravity is broken.

The roof stayed floating in the air, without even the slightest hint of it being supported. I was expecting something more akin to a houses roof falling down, so I was definitely startled by the fact that wood does not abide by the laws of gravity.

Doing my best to ignore the fact that a piece of wood has easily destroyed one of Newton's laws of physics, I continue to work on the house until late in the day.

After finishing my house, which honestly just looks like a giant block of wood with a door, I realize that I forgot one key thing when it comes to houses: Lighting.

With that thought in mind, I head up to the local expert on everything... 'I never actually asked for his name... Huh.'

Well with that thought in the back of my mind, I walked up to the only other person in the area and asked how to create the most rudimentary lighting instruments I could think of: torches. I also asked what his name was too. He responded within the moment of my question with near mechanical precision.

"To make torches, you must first obtain both wood and a gel that is found on slime, and proceed to put the two together to create a torch that will burn forever. Slime does not burn, but it can be lit on fire. And since you did not know, my name is Jacob, but you can just call me guide."

'Oh no... I have to fight a slime just so I can get some torches. This day literally cannot get weirder than it already is.' As I thought that, I looked up at the sky with a look that just emanated resignation, only to begin furiously blinking in surprise.

"wait... is that an ISLAND?"

Jacob apparently overheard me talking to myself, and added a comment of his own.

"Yes, that is indeed an island."

"Why the hell is it in the sky?!"

"Because it is a floating island."

"Yes, I know it is floating, but why?"

Jacob only responded with a single word.

"Magic."

I could only sigh in defeat. Based on what I have seen today, the response seemed to be the most logical thing ever.

"Well, I guess I'm off to fight a slime."

And with that, the hunt for gel begins.

And ended about 20 seconds later due to the discovery of a green slime.

Since I had no idea what i was doing, I just grabbed my copper shortsword and slashed at the slime, which prompted a look of confusion on my face because of how easily it split into 2 pieces. It was dead just like that. As the slime died, I noticed that it started to uh... coagulate into small pieces of gel about the size of my fist. (7.8")

As it was coagulating, I noticed that it also had several copper coins inside of it. I don't even want to think about where it found them.

After killing the slime and collecting the coins, I immediately hurried home so that I could get some well deserved rest after everything that has happened today. I finally crafted some torches, which to my surprise were similar to burning hand sanitizer when comparing the temperature.

Finally, after what seemed to be days, I was finally able to get some rest. As I drifted of to sleep, I never even noticed the shuffling sounds of feet being dragged across grass, or the groans of the zombies dragging those feet. If I hadn't been asleep, I may have been able to see the guide pull out a bow and walk out of the house to hunt zombies.

it was a peaceful night, an uncommon occurrence on this world, but it is a well deserved respite from the horrors the world has yet to show.

Now imagine my surprise when I woke up in the middle of nowhere, with no idea how I ended up in the middle of a forest.

Now imagine how much more surprised I was to see that I had a crafting interface and an inventory.

Now I would have had more fun joking about my misfortune right now, but I have to point out that it is I who am the recipient of the misfortune.

Well, at least this situation couldn't get any worse than it already is. (If you couldn't guess by now, it got waaaay worse.)

Welcome to the world of Terraria, where fighting hordes of zombies is as sure as the moon rising as the sun sets. At least zombies are the least of your worries in this world.

'Did you remember to check if they had toilet paper?' Ophi reminded, causing me to groan and roll over to my side.

'If there is a lack of toilet paper, I'll just wave my hand and all the shit will go away.' To think my powers would stoop to the point where it would be removing shit.

'Hmph. About the brat...you don't intend to guide him as an esper? You hardly know about the laws of this world much less his mental health.' Ophi mentioned, particularly about my lackluster diagnosis of his PTSD despite not having the credentials of a psychologist.

'Magic and psionic don't seem to differ as much, as long as the correct results are displayed. I've read enough stories ranging from high fantasy to self-insert fan-fiction to understand the simplistic application of mana and its nonsense.' I telepathically answered, yet managed to mumble something indiscernible from my mouth. It wasn't as if I cared or was in any way fascinated with magic. Power is power.

Ophi curled closer until his cool scales rested against my back. 'Why bother again in offering help to him?'

There was no specific answer for the question and I wonder to myself as well. Was it sympathy, pity, or something else? Just the thought of sympathizing lingered uncomfortably and a flick of annoyance to spread in my guts.

'Other than increasing the probability rate for his un-summoning of me; stop asking me stupid questions that you already know the answer to.' I disregarded any other sentiments and drew my sights out into the open window, revealing a pleasant view of the unpolluted sky. It was probably the only semblance of awe that is rarely seen back on Earth in the midst of the dense city lights.

The next day, I had a surprisingly revelation that the school had the day off. The brat once again appeared in front of my temporary dorm room, offering to give me a tour around the campus with me halfway applying the last remaining makeup.

"Before that, is there a place where I can get breakfast?"

He showed me a troubled look, "Breakfast past already..." he defeatedly explained causing my eyes to narrow a bit. "B-but lunch will be in an hour!" He scrambled to answer.

I decided to shrug it off and instead munch on a piece of luxury chocolate meant for an offering to a deceased enemy. Despite being at fault for waking near noon, my pride prevented me to acknowledge it as I silently observe him guiding out the dormitories. Sure enough, he acted as nothing transpired last night, which may have been for the better or worse.

Contrary to my expectations, the academy was exceptionally huge less gothic Hogwarts looking and more lavishly endowed with white marble pillars supporting the endless halls with Romanesque themed ceilings. Large acre wide greenery surrounded the school and dotted in expertly in some areas, as we made a sharp turn away from one of the various courtyards.

"How much do you think that gold encrusted torch is worth?" I asked motioning towards the jeweled inlaid torch against the wall with its nice golden luster. My mouth drooled at such sight while making a mental checklist to bring back some souvenirs.

"About 2,000 gold coins?" the brat half guessed.

Converting it to Euros was a bit difficult, but it didn't matter as long as the jewels and gold were genuine. If I were to guess the appropriate worth, five handbags and a second ticket to Yucatan seem sufficient.

"Where are we going? And why do I not see any students around?" I asked scanning the towering building which seemed to be the main library of the academy.

"Most students use the days off to visit home while I need to teach you how to write. We can use the academy's library since its open all year round," he explained, dodging a flying textbook that rivaled an average law student's textbook before it joined back to its flock and towards its next migration.

We took a seat to the most secluded area in the library, despite the library being barren but I brushed it aside as a loner's habit.

"I'm curious about your kind. You mentioned something about yi-spher?" He began to probe and throw nonsensical questions as we seated ourselves comfortably.

"Espers," I corrected and grimaced when he took out a stack of coarse aged paper that yellowed near the edges along with his sloppy ink-set. He pushed the paper to me and rushed to find a book that I could use to guide myself for the upcoming torture that would transpire for the next year or two.

I looked at the piece of paper and wondered when was the last time I took a pen and wrote like I was in the prison called school. It didn't help that school starts after the day off is over, and a 24-year old would be situated in a classroom full of angsty hormonal driven teenage chimpanzees.

Suddenly finding herself not in Yucatan but in a dingy lit room, the young esper Ran finds herself stuck in some fantasy backwater place with no soft toilet paper.

"Let's head back to the building." He said pulling me up carefully to stand.


Suddenly, thoughts came evading my calmed mind one by one. My jaw dropped as realization dawned on me.

Check. I did blink at the last second. Didn't I? It was the beast fault because he told me it was like I wanted to plant love bites on him again.


Second, there will be an electrifying feeling whenever you touch that person.


Check again. I thought at first that this test failed, but I was wrong. I felt it, can't deny that!


Third. If that person calls your name, your heart will jump. 


Check. My heart didn't only jump, it was leaping endlessly.


Fourth. Whether you close or open your eyes, you will continually see his face.


Check, remember when I looked for soda and end up mumbling in one corner instead? He even caught me!


The fifth and the last. If you will not be able to see that person again, you will surely cry out of loneliness. 


Check again for the nth time. I did cry wildly when I thought he died. Heck!

"OH NOOOO!" I screamed in hysteria. 


The boys checklist —all results were affirmative! I expelled a shaky breath and shook my head continuously. I wanted to drop right through the floor as I suffered from thorough disbelief. I was acting like a blithering idiot in front of the beast. I didn't know what to do right at that moment.


 I dazed over my thoughts in panic!


Suddenly...


I felt an embrace oozing all the confusion and negative emotions away. I landed on a hard chest, it was warm and had me absolutely mesmerized. I breathed in only to realize the hard chest belonged to the beast. He put one of his hands behind my neck, the other hand landed gently on my lower back. He then buried me deep in his arms squeezing me tightly. I took a deep breath inhaling his luscious scent forgetting where we were.


My body that had been so tense from all what happened earlier has a sense of tranquility now. I became composed under his warm and loving embrace. It was so enchanting I wanted to stay there all day.


Hearing footsteps close by, I was brought to reality.


Uhhh, what was he doing out here in this open place?


I was about to push him away but then decided not to since his embrace was so comforting. He then uttered something in almost a whisper.


"Hey what's happening with you by the way?" He said while still holding me in his arms. 


 "You were acting so weird since this morning and.... I feel so stupid... for not knowing what to do." He sounded worried.


His words brought me into wonderland once more. So he had been worried about me all day long? Really worried, I could tell by the tone of his voice. At the moment his embrace was so affectionate. I felt like I was some treasure which was about to be taken and he was savoring the moment while I was still in his hands.


But then again, the boy's checklist pop into my head again, reminding me of the most complicated predicament I had ever encountered in my entire life.


"Darryl" I called, my voice was shaking.


"Yes?" 


"I think I'm in love with you—crap!" I cupped my mouth to stop the words that were spilling out and looked up to see his face.


"Why did I say those? Holy cow!" I mumbled and cursed in front of him with so much regret. Colors were flooding back to my cheeks; red was the most dominant.


Another stupid move! I can't eat strawberry now, can I? I did bet strawberry earlier, right?


What was I doing? Even when those words were unconsciously and impulsively spoken, I was fervently wishing I left them unsaid.


He was shocked by my sudden revelation and didn't say a word. He just smiled. His expressions were unreadable.


 "What did you say? Say that again." There was unmistakable mischief in his gorgeous hazel eyes. His smile turned wide making his face look devilishly handsome.


I looked away flustered. I just blurted this out, how can I say it again! In the corner of my eyes, I saw his hazel eyes looking down at me trying to capture my reaction.


Heck the jerk was picking on me again!


Don't look him in the eye Xhem!


According to Greek Mythology, there is a monster they call Medussa. If he catches your gaze you will turn into a stone! 


Afraid of his mischievous gaze turning you to stone? Don't let the beast capture your eyes! I thought to myself.


"Ehhh…what I said a while ago was... Let's head back to the building, I think they will announce the winners now!" I said as I tried to find an excuse to avoid him. I turned around a second after and quickly  walked straight ahead.


I left the beast where we were standing and walked away hurriedly. I sighed deeply. Somehow I was relieved I had escaped the beast's instigation. I walked farther and farther away from the beast, then I realized something.


"Oh crap!" I clasped my head and turn back to where the beast was.


He was standing on the same spot, laughing hard when he saw me coming back.


"You are lost, right?" He asked. Yeah I was indeed lost.


 I did tell you earlier that I just ran randomly away, right? I needed the beast's help to get me back to the competition area. I am pretty sure he knew where we were right now since he was the one who found me here.


He stopped laughing when he was satisfied with how embarrassed I was.


"Give me your hand!" He commanded.


"Huh?" Before I could react, he grabbed my hand in his and started walking.


We were holding hands. Imagine the feeling that came with it, I couldn't even begin to describe! My eyes grew bigger and I bit my lower lip but walked obediently with him.


My heart was so happy I could die right now!


We walked under the scorching sun, as buildings along the busy streets towered over our shadows. I walked with my hands in his. He tightly held onto my fingers which were intertwined in his long and rough fingers. It felt like he was clinging to the only hands he cared about in the entire world. 


I let him hold my hand, not bothering to make a sound. I quietly attempted to breath in and out, afraid he could hear my heart screaming from warmth and excitement. My heart was beating frantically against my left boob. It felt as if it was calling his name over and over again. I'm really in love with him. The boy's checklist was not useless after all, I thought smiling to myself.


We headed back to the building after we arrived and spent the rest of the afternoon receiving our evaluations. We got back to the university circle around four in the afternoon. I immediately hopped out the bus first and ran fast toward the quarters. I was so happy. I was also excited to see the boys after this long eventful day. Honestly, I did miss them throughout the whole afternoon.


A few minutes after arriving, I found myself in the quarters.


"Hey, you are here already." Huzey smiled as soon as he saw me.


"Huzey!" I clung into his arms like a happy kid. I was really in a good mood.


"Hey, little thug why are you so happy? You are so happy that we abandoned you today? Or wait…" Ziggy said scrutinizing me from head to foot. " …. Did you successfully seduced that Lagdameo coach this time?"


I just ignored Ziggy and went in a daze thinking about the beast still clinging onto Huzey's arm. Huzey didn't withdraw his arm, instead he smiled at me and asked, "What's with you?"


"Nothing!" I responded happily ignoring his prying eyes.


"If it's anything about that Lagdameo coach, I suggest you drop it right away. Why don't you go and pack your things instead of clinging onto Huzey's arm like a tarsier." Ziggy exclaimed, seemingly unpleased.


"Huh?" I frowned, not getting what he was talking about.


"We are leaving tomorrow after the awarding." Huzey said tonelessly while glancing at me.


Wait.


What?


Today is the sixth day of the conference, so we are indeed leaving tomorrow. How could I forget that? I was so preoccupied with my sparkling new romance I didn't even notice it was going to end tomorrow.


That fast?

Ziggy ran to my bed and snatched my animal stuff toy Cryzer. Remember my lamb stuff toy given by grandpa?


He went to the hallways' mezzanine and stood there. He held Cryzer in one of his hand and moved it toward the stairs as if he was going to let it fall over.


"What are you doing to my stuff?" I went out to ask him. How was I supposed to pack up when he was messing with my things?


"If you are not going to answer our questions I'm going to throw Cryzer down the stairs." He started threatening me.


"Then the headlines tomorrow will be— Cryzer committed suicide." Huzey said unfeelingly. He was now slumped against the wall beside the entrance of the quarters, watching over the scene that Ziggy started.


I frowned. I think the two were on gorilla behavior mode again.


"Give me Cryzer back!" I demanded as I ran toward him ready for an attack. Before I reached Ziggy, Huzey held me and put my two hands on my back. He locked me under his grip. I tried to escape but knowing how strong Huzey was, I probably will die out of fatigue.

 

Oh great, just great. The two were teaming up again against me again. Well, I hope they were enjoying themselves at my expense.


"Tell us the truth or he will be dead!"


"Let him go!" I yelled at him.


"Tell us the truth first, why were you acting weird earlier? Happy turned sad in an instant." Ziggy started instigating me.


There had only been the three of us in the hallway. I never expected that few minutes later, people from other quarters had flocked over to where we were to watch our peerless drama.


"Fine! I'm acting weird because I don't' feel like going home yet!"


"Oh.." Ziggy exclaimed looking surprised. He was faking it obviously. "And that's because?"


"Because....." I was having hard time answering the question.


"Speak or Cryzer will die!" he spoke in a tone mimicking an old and grumpy wizard.


"Because of that man." I answered trying to be careful of my every word. Gosh! These two gorillas, I'm gonna kill them both in their sleep when I get the chance!


"What's the name?" He demanded and intentionally shook Cryzer's body while hanging on his arms.


"Do I really have to tell the name?" I said unamused. I honestly was a bit annoyed.


"Cryzer or the name!" He stated, frightening me in his unusual made up cold and deep voice.


"Darryl...Lemmeul...Lagdameo." I hesitated answering it a bit. I was pretty aware that the beast wasn't around, so it wouldn't really matter. The important thing right now is Cryzer's life, isn't it?


"Hey coach Darryl!" Someone called from my behind.


Coach Darryl? The beast is here?

"I have here a checklist of things that we would need to survive the apocalypse. That's all I remember from reading stuff. You never know when you might need something."

Amelia handed him a list that was written on a piece of paper.

"Also, unlike dumb people who run around, we will stay in this house. We will loot other houses for food and supplies when we can and bring them here for stock. When the soldiers get back, we will plan it out with them. Is everything clear?"

"Yes madame." Frank answered Amelia. He also decided to be somewhat a little bit more honest with this person.

"What if I was a 'transmigrator' as you have claimed be to be?"

Amelia's eyes widened. She just asked this question but didn't really expect to get an answer. After all, transmigrating is just some fantasy stuff that she first saw and loved in Webnovel. 

"Then that would be really, really awesome! So, what kind of transmigrator are you? Are you the one who stumbled upon a treasure, died then reincarnated here, summoned by a God..." 

Hours went by and the two talked about the difference in both worlds. The conversation was stopped when Frank raised a finger to signal Amelia to keep quiet. Frank looked out and stood up.

"Let's go to the roof." 

Trusting a transmigrator, Amelia stood up and followed Frank. Although Frank did not tell her about his profession as an assassin and the existence of the Bounty System, he told Amelia that he was similar to transmigrating characters who was at the peak of their careers.

The duo walked to the 2nd floor, then to the attic where there was a passage that led to the roof. Frank opened the window and went out followed by Amelia. It was already night but because of the full moon, the neighborhood was well illuminated. 

"What a coincidence." Jerry smiled. "Is everything alright?"

"Good. Come with us, we have secured a safe place. Our mission was a success and we saved everyone from the school. They are in a house just a couple of blocks away from here. Ah! Of course we can just do it tomorrow since it's already dark." 

"Mr. Jerry, I think we won't be able to come with you even tomorrow." Amelia shook her head.

"And why is that?" Ryan asked.

"Food! We will be competing with food with you if we went there." 

"Us soldiers will be in charge of getting food. Besides, your stock here isn't going to last."

"You have a point but what about the possibility of an attack from the zombies?"

"We chose a house that had a strong gate just like yours. If it wasn't that this house was a bit small and that other survivors were already tired, we would have went here. Anyway, we will be leaving for headquarters soon. They would have more weapons there to protect us." Jerry reaffirmed the kids.

"How come you know all of this? Did you not say you were 16?" Ryan laughed it out. They were adults but were kind of unreliable.

Frank just kept quiet by the side after all, he was also a 30 year old adult. It was just that he was stuck in a child's body.

"Ryan, stay here for the night and protect the kids. I'll be going back to the others and tell my brothers." With that, Jerry left. Ryan, Amelia and Frank went back inside to eat then to sleep. 

Mendez was sitting on the roof when Jerry arrived. 

"How did it go?" Mendez asked.

"We may have to cancel our plan to go back to the headquarters." Jerry answered.

"I thought so as well. It was really weird that we have never been in contact with them since Day Zero. Besides, I've checked the map. It's a long distance from here. If ever we have to go there, we still have to pack some punch. Go back to our camp, grab weapons and get the other riot vehicle. Oh and I've drawn a sketch of the person who saved us." 

Mendez took a piece of folded paper from his pocket. Aside from being an excellent sniper, he also had a great memory and was blessed in the field of arts. Under the well-lit night, Jerry looked at the piece of paper. His eyes widened, then squinted, then tilted to the left then to the right then widened back again.

"Move behind the red car. Zombies to your 3 o'clock. Move to the left side of the car when I say so then run towards the black van..." Mendez was able to bring the duo safely until they reached 90% of the bridge."

"Listen to me boys. There's a large group of zombies up ahead. About 18 in total. There's a zombie to your six moving slowly towards you. Don't worry it hasn't seen you yet."

"One of you will have to distract the pack while the other will run to get the objective. The one will be the distraction who may possibly die, nod your head." 

Ryan and Jerry looked each other in the eye before Ryan nodded. He knew that his superior had a greater chance of getting to the objective. 

"Here's what you will do. Get their attention then jump from the bridge. I don't know if zombies can swim but that's your only hope of living. There's a pink apartment across the bridge. If you see it nod your head."

Ryan nodded his head.

"That will be your extraction point. Use the emergency stairs of that apartment to climb up. Remember, don't use the door since we don't know if there are zombies in that apartment. Nod your head if everything is clear."

Ryan once again, nodded his head.

"Good. Jerry, you go get that riot vehicle, grab Ryan and get us out of this shit hole. Gosh, it's really a good thing that our engineers invested in anti-EMP vehicles. The bridge was lined up with useless vehicles because of the EMP explosion. 

"Go when you're ready. May the good Lord bless us." 

Mendez knew that the next part can only be accomplished by his comrades. While waiting tensely, he heard roaring sounds from the school grounds. It was unimaginable how many zombies there were. Basing on his memory of a zombie roar, he could estimate that there were more than a hundred zombies on the school grounds.

Suddenly, he felt like his eyes was burning. When he opened his eyes, he saw that  on the drivers' seat was a humanoid figure that was emitting a black aura. Jerry on the other hand was also emitting one but his was white. 

Ryan was also shrouded in white while the zombies chasing him also had black. He looked at the people around him and they were also emitting a white aura. 

He looked at the direction of the loud roars and saw a black cloud and a whitr speck that was moving like a fly within the cloud of black. He turned around and saw Jerry who was about to open the door.

These are some of the popular novels which we know. Each of them is very unique in it's own way and have become popular in it's own right. It would be incorrect to call them a failure, as they have correctly captured their intended audience – the Japanese teenage audience. However, when thinking about a broad perspective, these novel become obsolete when it competes on a global level with other web novels, and the majority of the reason for their deficiency is simple – the Protagonist in these novels is a typical Japanese light novel protagonist, who is naïve and a dumb virgin idiot. It is as if he has never received any sex education, and would always talk some naïve things which do not match with his current situation. Their behavior is somewhat correct given that these protagonists are usually high school kids, but the readers have difficulty accepting such an immature protagonist.

Web novels are about accumulating wealth, women and power. So when a reader reads the protagonist behaving like a dumb virgin when a girl approaches him, or when he does not actively seek wealth and power, the reader is bound to get angry and disappointed.

A good example can be found in the following example :

In Tsuki ga Michibiku, the Protagonist Makoto establishes a business half-heartedly, and his business is more like charity to the hyumans, the same hyumans the majority of whom treat him like sh*t and had killed his subordinates. Instead of developing his Asora realm, where we might have enjoyed him developing a realm and being a king or even god, he keeps roaming throughout the world unnecessarily.

Also, he had two beautiful subordinates who are eager to have sex with him, but apparently he sees them as 'sisters' or 'family', so he cannot do that. (Perhaps he has not read any incest hentai, or heard of Kiss X Sis)

Note that this is not just about sex, as there was a very broad scope for plot development in Tsuki ga Michibiku. For example, Makoto could have properly developed the Asora realm, showing us some world building and kingdom building. He could even have married Tomoe and Mio and their kids would have been demi gods who would do various mischiefs in the hyuman realm. There might have even been wars of Asora vs hyumans.

In short, the Japanese protagonists have disappointing characteristics on a global scale, and are not entertaining to read.

* SOLUTION FOR ALL THIS…

Japanese isekai novels have good would building (from light novel and web novel perspective), and this fact cannot be ignored.

My idea is simple, that is to write a fan fiction of a pre-existing light novel or use the basic ideas and rewrite the novel, the only change being the utterly virgin protagonist. The protagonist would simply be 'de-virginized' and re-introduced. This change might seem small but actually opens up a lot of routes for novel writing. (as in Tsuki ga Michibiku example)

The protagonists in these isekai novels are already powerful, and if they are re-written of as being mature, smart and driven by ambition, then they would become warlords, making the story even more interesting to read.

POSITIVE REVIEW :

Tl;dr - Reincarnated mechanical engineer brings about industrial revolution in the Medieval Era (imagine going on an invention spree in the 14th century introducing steam engines, Newton's laws, Einstein's theories etc. Become the greatest scientist in the history and rule over the world), with the help of witches that are falsely called the devils incarnate by the Church. The world building is great, the translator is amazing and this story is a must read!!

The first thing I will say is that the title doesn't justify the story. If I was to sum up the story till now, it would be 'Engineer in Another World'. An interesting theory XD
The MC is level headed, smart, and he thinks like a student of science, and not like some stubborn and foolish idiot. He is nither arrogant nor a coward.
This is a story of an engineer being reincarnated in another universe, as a good-for-nothing prince and will fight against his siblings for the throne. And he uses science and stuff from his previous life in this world, which is still in the era of kingdoms using swords and crossbows, and becomes the overlord of the world.
Imagine you being reincarnated in 1500s. I will invent electricity, machines and everything I've learnt, and name then all after me. I will become the God of the masses and get worshipped by the whole world XD. Our MC is not that arrogant. He is humble and respects everyone, unlike a lot of novels. And there are witches in the story. From the sypnosis we get that the witches are hated by the whole world and our MC fights for them. I won't spoil it for you guys.
From the story so far, I think there will be lots of scheming, planning, plotting and conning others in the future chapters. Till now there has been no mention of things like cultivation levels or anything such. I don't think it will be a story where the MC is nuts about cultivation and becoming an immortal, which is different from a lot of xianxia novels, and I think this is one of the really good points about this story. The author is doing a good job at building the world, and I would recommend this novel very much

CRITICAL REVIEW :

Release that Witch is a surprising read in a sea of webnovels. It isn't perfect, and I'll elaborate on that, but it's above the garbage often seen. There won't be plot spoilers in this review except the obvious "Yeah he helps witches" so continue with that in mind. Enjoy my mini-novel review.
Unlike most CN webnovels, RtW distances itself from Wuxia and enters the magic flintlock genre. With a setting reminiscent of medieval times, you've got a cast of knights and nobles and peasants. This isn't a new concept. In fact, it's old and worn. But it's how it's done despite the tropes, and for the most part, the author managed well. The twist is that the protagonist comes from our modern day, and this twist carries the story in both obvious ways and more subtle ones.
Had the first chapter never mentioned the origins of the protagonist, it would've been hard to realize at a glance. The name of this regular guy is soon forgotten as he takes upon the role of Roland, the fourth prince, and you will probably only know him as such. The previous Roland was a fool, as often these stories make them be, so when our modern day hero takes over, it becomes a familiar journey of climbing to kingship. He no slave or farm boy, but his status as nobility begins low relative to his siblings, and gives us, the reader, something to cheer for.
This brings up the advantages of a modern day man in a period lacking knowledge. But as you can imagine by the title, what keeps this in the fantasy genre is the inclusion of witches, giving Roland cards to play on his path to glory, literally and figuratively.
Witches are ostracized as devils and killed. Their powers are clearly seen and isn't mystical voodoo no one believes. And our protagonist becomes their friend. Whether it's because he's interested in a scientific standpoint or he's a friendly guy isn't important. What's important is the role witches play in the grand scheme of things.
Roland's Border Town becomes a bastion for them. His kindness and acceptance toward witches attracts a flock who aid and make possible things that would otherwise be impossible. Like many novels in epic fantasy, it becomes too much, and details become lost. Because of the story's scope, beside a select few witches, many of them take a backseat and are reduced to tools to help Roland grow his empire. This is a shame because the cast of said witches is fun and varied. Unfortunately you'll only familiarize yourself with certain ones, and the rest are non-existent until the protagonist has use of their power.
Those powers have an important role, and it's here that magic and technology mix. Roland's ability to rise up depends on magic, boosting his ability to quickly reach the industrial age of guns and manufacturing. You'd think one might overwhelm the other, but balance is kept in check. There are clear advantages to witches, yet they're no army. By helping witches, he's given the chance to command an army unlike any seen before, and with his knowledge, the overwhelming advantages he has crushes the opposition and gives Roland a legitimate claim to the throne.
I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, he should know things others do not. On the other hand, he knows too much. Roland was a mechanical engineer before, but apparently he knows chemistry, biology, the education system, war tactics, shipbuilding, and who knows what else. Basic knowledge is fine. What this guy has is unacceptable, however.
"Hey, I'm going to write a chemistry textbook telling you every formula in the world. By the way I'm going to jot down a 500 page manual on how2biology. And I'm going to rewrite an entire play or three, by memory, perfectly. But wait there's more! I'll add in a physics course for free. Did I mention I'm a master plumber, farmer, and blacksmith? Hell, have some music theory too, because I'm a mechanical engineer who took some GE classes and we can all do that while governing an entire city as a full-time job."
Like, what? Some defend this, but there's literally nobody who can do this. Stop trying to "logic" it. Can anyone recite every country in the world by heart, right now, and every state and city and province? Can they list the periodic table in its entirety 20 years after they've long forgotten their high school chemistry class? Do they have seven phDs and a photographic memory? Literally autism. And if you don't want to admit that, then Roland's a Mary Sue, period. Frankly, being overpowered is fine. But let's call this story what it is and not pretend it's anything otherwise. Release that Witch is a power fantasy for teenage and young adult men.
Only in foreign webnovels do protagonists get a pass for being overpowered, which is called bad writing anywhere else. Even Superman has his Kryponite, whether it's a rock or vulnerable friends he must care for. Millions are enthralled by something like Game of Thrones because the characters are human. They are flawed and morally gray men and women who may not survive to the end. Protagonist-chan? He might as well be an alien, because nobody is perfect.
And this is an issue because I've never been concerned for Roland's well-being. He's perfect, and thus boring. While he's no fighter, he doesn't need to be. He is in no danger because he's not one step ahead but twenty steps. I'm quite certain that a witch introduced hundreds of chapters ago, who has never done a damned thing, will suddenly become relevant at a critical point. Then he's going to say, "Just as planned." But because the author didn't give our hypothetical witch any show time, it'll look like our prince pulled it out of his behind. Rest assured, Roland has his bases covered with a plethora of beautiful women surrounding him. He doesn't need to worry about them, either, since they're also ridiculous.
What's also boring is how dull his knowledge can be. It drags the story down when the author harps on about molecules. Imagine a football fan yapping in your ears about his favorite team while the season is airing. Now imagine you not giving a shit, since you'd rather watch Rick and Morty or Futurama or something. This is what it's like when the author writes about details no one cares about. Your eyes glaze over and you skip entire paragraphs as terms you've never heard of are talked about. Please stop. Go back to the story.
Speaking of story, like many in epic fantasy, there are multiple factions with intrigue and espionage in the background. There's a cabal of witches, the church, and the princes and princesses vying for control. The writer touches upon all of them in a third person omniscient point of view, meaning you see what happens at a bird's eye distance and hear the thoughts of all characters. The reader is in the know of things our protagonist is not, and of events he doesn't witness. Possibly good, probably bad. Although we learn more about the world than Roland does, we don't get to experience the surprises in store for him in the future because we'll be in the loop. I personally lean toward this being a negative because this just becomes info dumping and telling rather than showing. Where's the mystery if the author introduces a new character, then immediately tells us his secrets? His life story, his children's stories, and the name of the gopher in his front yard--there goes whatever interest I have in said person.
Another negative is the grammar. For a translated novel, it's okay. But being readable doesn't mean it's correct, and if you're someone who understands basic grammar rules, little things will bother you. Punctuation and dialogue tags, for example, or the incessant use of passive voice. The editors could do a better job. For the last time, you can smile dialogue. When will they learn?
Now I'm going to talk about what this story is and isn't. Despite the roster of witches, all of whom are women, this is not a harem. It has the potential, but it isn't and hopefully won't be. This story is also small on romance. Because of the cast size, Roland doesn't have time to dote upon characters you may or may not ship together. It's present and there, but it's a subplot. Though some may praise the romance, I can't, because I don't see it becoming more than superficial. There's maybe one chapter focusing purely on relationships as of the 200s. How this is good romance is beyond me. RtW is and will always be about Townbuilding 101 and the politics that come with it.
If the main course of the novel is reaching a modern day quality of life, then witches and magic and such are like the side dish to add flavor to the meal. If one witch is salt and another is pepper, you'll get a lot of salt and pepper. But again, because of the story's scope, you're not going to get much paprika or garlic or chives. They're there, but only as one-dimensional additions. Let's not mention the named knight or three. Unfortunately, you may forget who half the cast is. But if you love the few characters that get the screentime of an A-list actor, you're in for a wild ride.
Anyhow, if I had to recommend a Chinese webnovel to a reader who doesn't like Chinese webnovels, this story would be my first suggestion. At the same time, it's so far away from the typical CN story that it almost doesn't qualify as one, yet technically it is. There's no saving face or retarded "can't see Mount Tai" or wow, he can't decide whether he should laugh or cry 100x. It's not a story of self-improvement by getting lucky finding an artifact, then senseless slaughter. It's a standard western epic fantasy that also suffers from CN webnovel tropes, and whether that's what you want or not, that's what you'll get. It's unique, but not unique. It's done okay, but certainly not groundbreaking.
I cannot get over the detachment I feel for most characters. I like the characters placed in the backseat, never to be heard from again. I like the subplots that'll never be brought up in the future. Instead I read pointless specifics on topics I couldn't give a rat's ass about. Instead I learn Roland paves some roads, and maybe adds a few more witches I'll forget exists. Worst, I'll never be worried about him because I know the fourth prince will pull through unscathed. Why, then, should I or any reader care what happens? The stakes aren't high. They're as low as the dirt under our feet. And when the hero doesn't struggle to achieve his goals, then he didn't earn those victories. Roland is given them on a silver platter, and suddenly, everything he accomplishes is diminished. Zero tension, because every battle is already won.
That doesn't mean I didn't like it. It's still enjoyable. But the fun factor degrades. So I have to ask myself why I should read this pseudo western fantasy. Why should I read RtW when I can read Patrick Rothfuss? Why should I read RtW when I can read Brandon Sanderson, or George R.R. Martin? These known fantasy authors have been picked up by publishers because their work are proven sellers, and have years of practice under their belt in writing. Release that Witch competes in the same genre, but doesn't have the same polish. So for a webnovel it's above average, but compared to published novels vetted by professionals, it has glaring flaws. By virtue of setting alone comes its own pros and cons.
Lastly, I want to say that the story really drags when the releases slow down. Because it reads differently, the pace is different and does not fit the norm of CN webnovels. If you binge read it, the experience is better, but the translators are not keeping up as of late, and my interest in the story suddenly tanked. And once I let the story sit in my mind for a while, I realized it's really as good as people say it is.
Tl;dr, Release that Witch is pretty good for what it is. Release that Witch is also pretty bad for what it pretends to be.

II: THE TO DO LIST.. these are the possible things you need to consider when on a DATE...



1. The Looks -  the most essential part of preparing the looks is the hair sabi nga nila ito ang crowning glory ng mga babae. Lakas maka-mukhang mayaman kung nakapagpa-rebond ka ng buhok. Next is the make up, dito maitatago ang mga flaws sa mukha. Biglang lumilitaw ang gandang hindi inaakala.  Manicure and pedicure, ilibing ang mga patay na kuko it's time for you to move on.  Kung pwede magpa-derma at body massage na rin to relax the muscles and lessen wrinkles and the pores.



2. The Attire - next thing to consider is the attire. Of course you need to choose the appropriate clothes depending on the occasion. Mahirap naman na mag heels ka kung mag-mountain climbing ka or naka-corporate look naman kapag nasa beach.. It's a no no!



3. The Menu - while on a date, as much as possible iwasan ang pag-order ng pagkain na kinakailangang mag-kamay and avoid eating raw onions, garlic, seafood and anything with a strong smell or malalansang pagkain. You may never know when you will have your first kiss so always be prepared.



4. DATING KIT -  and speaking of being prepared, you must have a Dating Kit for dummies. It consist of toothbrush, toothpaste, lipstick and foundation for make up re-touch, brush or comb in case mahangin sa labas or mapasabak sa labanan, perfume or cologne, a box of condom. Well, it is better to be safe than sorry and emergency contact number.



And since the TO DO LIST for the DATE has been covered... The last part of the List is the...



III: PREPARATION FOR THE BIG "O". It's like playing baseball, you have to hit the ball then run through all the bases..



1. First base - kissing -  there are different categories of kisses. Kiss on the forehead sign of respect, kiss on the cheeks sign of friendship and kiss on lips sign of love or lust . Of course there are types of kiss on lips...for starter is the smack a short gentle kiss.. dampi lang muna, applicable sa first date. There is also lips to lips, french kiss and torrid no need to elaborate they are the intimate and passionate types of kisses... In short alam na this!



2. Second base - is direct physical contact on the upper portion of the body. It also includes other forms of petting, touching and groping. Papisil-pisil at patapik-tapik. Kung libre ang tsansing dapat lubisin at itodo na! 



3. Third base - may include manual or oral sex for either partner. Also known as otso-otso, you 8 him and she 8 you! 



4. Home run -  is also known as the sexual intercourse or the BIG "O".

It has music, action (spy and terrorist stuff). No regular updates, grammar is not perfect but in later chapters, there are editors (on and off). 
2. No Matter How Long Time Passes, I still Love you by Sweetflowlips (Romance), Ongoing - This is a refreshing take on the usual 'marry cold man - divorce' novels. First off, FL doesn't end up with the useless ex-husband and secondly, she's not such a wimp or flopping fish. /heh
3. Perfect match, Secret Marriage by caremel (Romance), Completed - 420 Chapters. 
4. The Prodigy: I Was Reborn And To Become A Saintess by _AngelGrace_(Fantasy Romance), Ongoing - A prodigy was reborn in a world of magic, into the body of a 'useless' Saintess - or so everyone thought. See how she overcomes the plots against her, makes herself powerful and collects men to her like bees to honey. Looks like reverse harem at the moment, but may be just one ML. There's magic, a bit of nation-building. Updates unstable but Author says will not drop.
5. TheUnion by CreamAndCookies (Fantasy), Completed -291 Chapters. It is fantasy medieval. Has romance, kingdom building and all the political intrigues. 
6. The Witch CEO is NOT a Demoness by SayuriHyuuga (Romance), Completed - 146 Chapters. FengJui, CEO and known to be like a dragon. Gets drunk, finds herself having a one-night stand (this may be viewed as r*pe since she was drunk) with a 'vagabond' (who is actually another CEO) that won't leave her alone now. R18.

1. Genius Seventh Prince by LazySky (Fantasy), Ongoing - Greyson was born as the talented seventh prince of the small Ley Kingdom in the desolate Snow Country but he ended up an orphan at a local church in the neighboring kingdom. Hi. Thanks for dropping by. Please bear in mind that I am a new author, and English is not my first language. I am writing because I find it enjoyable, and am only now finding the courage to actually pen it out for others to read.

This is a rebirth story of a girl who had lived one life, and will experience another. Follow her along her journey of discovery: of herself, as she walks an entirely new path. Yet, at the same time, she seeks to find closure from her old life. 

World background: Current Earth, with names of countries being just Country J, Country SA etc. 

First, the MC is the typical OP character. Second, it's a slice of life story mixed with OPness of MC. If you don't like Gary Sue / OP characters, with a slow story pace, then this is not for you. 

There are elements of adventure/action, romance, some comedy and a little bit of mystery.  It is also a story about friendship and the bonds we make as we grow up.
