The book started with a simple explanation of what we call "magic" and how do we use it

This source of energy can be harness by people who can use more than 10% of their brains, people who can harness this nigh-infinite energy can use it to manipulate, bend, circumvent and even violate the laws of reality without facing the consequences
Although magic is enigmatic it can be categorized into different principles depending on the way you use it, these principles are:
Mind 
Time
Matter (or states if you wanna sound knowledgeable)
Energy 
Space
Soul
Force
Entropy 
Order
Balance 
Performing magic requires you to be in complete balance with your surroundings
Since magic is present within every being dead or alive, intelligent or not to perform magic a person needs to focus and "feel" the magic within themselves and control those inner magic to reach out and bend the external magic present everywhere around you
Once you have a certain amount of magicol (magical energy) under your control the three most important factors in using magic come into play: calculations,comprehension and visualization
Calculations are very important because you have to calculate everything when it comes to magic from the amount of magicol you need to use to the effect, ramifications and efficiency of the spell everything needs to be precisely calculated or there will be dire consequences 
Comprehension is important because in order to bend one of the rules of reality you first need to understand it and all it's variant so that you know exactly what your spell need to do and how that spell does it
Visualization also important, because manipulating magical energy to achieve effects requires an insane amount of concentration, being able to visualize what your spell will do is essential for concentration 
This is why the minimum requirement to become a mage was that you have the attribute of intelligence above 5 and the conventional training for a magic caster is based on the goal of allowing them to use more then 10% of their brains, because if you can use more of your brain it doesn't matter if an opponent has higher intelligence than you, you're essentially untouchable to them in a magic fight 
(It's pretty strange for them to categorize time and space as two different things since according to Einstein's theory of relativity they're basically the same thing)
Remembering the countless hours he studied physics and theoretical science Asher thought
(Wait that gives me an idea)
A thought flashed through Asher's head giving him a great idea
He poured through the book about the two principles of space and time and using each as a reference point for the other he was able to gain a deep understanding of the two in only about 1/9 of the time normal people would have to study to do the same
(I knew it the principles of time and space have a lot of the same patterns that one needs to follow in order to use both)
(So by studying a little bit of both and using them to fill in on the missing details of the other gaining a high level of understanding for both is quite easy)
Branding what he learnt into his mind Asher decided to applied the same learning method to all the other principles
He used force,energy and matter as a reference point for each other, applied the principles of entropy to the principles of order and balance and finally use mind and soul to gain an understanding of them both too
And so what will normally take a few years to learn for even scholars, this 9 year old kid has learned in less than a few hours of reading
(Ok so I've learned the basics of magecraft now all I need is to practice)

Putting the black leather book back to where he found it Asher thought on what he should read next
Exploring the seemingly endless isles of the library he took out whatever book that seems interesting to him
Going through them all he found nothing interesting just more information on the lore of Ziost, the different cultures of the world, and more studies on magic that were just more specific versions of the "ars magica" (Author: I've decided to not do any exposition on Ziost since there's already enough exposition in this novel and it would be more interesting to do some world-building on Ziost in later chapters anyway, nobody likes exposition)
Hours were spent looking and reading books and he still found nothing new until he came across another black book that was titled "do not read if you're not prepared"
As a person of endless curiosity the peculiar title was almost intoxicating to Asher
This new black book contained information on ritualistic magic or "edicts" if you like to use the mage's terms
Edicts are magic that cannot be performed normally and require a catalyst or multiple catalyst to perform, the effects of edicts varies but even the simplest ones are capable if infinitely violating the laws of conservation of mater and energy
The more powerful ones on the other hand can warp reality itself sometimes on a universal scale, cause a total event collapse and rip through the very fabric of existence 
Asher devoured every word and information the book showed him for some reason the things he found in there only made him want to learn more
Many known edicts were recorded in this book but the one that caught his attention the most was a spell called "the alignment of celestial links" which was said to be the most powerful edict ever performed and through all the history of Ziost only one person was able to successfully cast it
The requirements for this edict to be performed is:
"On the day every celestial bodies in the solar system perfectly aligned (which only happens once every 1000000 years) the ritual must be performed at the top of the tower of fate, on the throne of resolution with the piece of nothingness, the book of destiny, the sword of chaos, the all-seeing monolith, the overclock and the blood of the forerunners as catalysts"
If the edict is performed perfectly apparently the person who cast it will be granted one wish by god himself no matter how absurd or impossible the wish it
Apparently only one person has ever successfully performed this edict, and he did it three times using a combination of time-travel and planning ahead,but the book doesn't go into detail on who is that person or where did he came from, they just called him "the dark one", all it tells Asher is that this person has outsmarted the world three times
After memorizing every word Asher felt incomplete because he was still curious but the book had already ended
Deciding to end it here for today Asher left the library and went exploring the city before going back to the orphanage

A broody misanthropic teenager gets reincarnated in world where he can vent out all his hatred and frustration of his old life while simultaneously finding enjoyment in this new one, he will not be a hero or a villain because of his profound hatred for those concepts of mortality instead he’ll become a legend

I know this sounds forceful but is there anyone willing to put a constructive review on this story?

It's up to 77 chapters now and is officially on Haitus thanks to certain factors (mostly job hunting), yet there is a severely limited amount of reviews to the point Webnovel can't even give an overall rating.

Now, considering I had to change accounts twice over the years after getting involved with TheOnionJuntion, IRL problems, etc. And I have no right to complain if some of my readers complain from how much I tend to rewrite entire patches of the story (not even with great grammar on top of it). But I'm interested because of how mixed the opinions were of the Webnovel community once.

There was even that Daoist_Phoenix who specifically made a review to counterbalance some other negative reviews that literally said nothing about the story or plot of this original fiction.

There has always been mixed opinions no matter where I posted this story that had nothing to do with the grammar (even though that's normally the case) or really BAD handling of plot (which usually means there's pacing or issues with what was promised and what was presented. Even times when an Author can make the characters act inconsistent). Rather, they were confused since I wasn't 'telling everything' in the first few chapters about the world which was built, and was instead focusing too much on characters and stuff.

Since this story was written in a different way compared to others, there was a big divide when it came to expectations and what the story became in the end. There are constant mentions of the Endgame being a Holy War yet here the MC is walking around and not even attempting to get closer to the supposed 'end goal'. He was being thrown about like a sandbag by story events...

Someone challenges him to a duel? Beats him and gets a higher position. Assassin attempts to kill his little sister? Pops her head like a balloon with a single bullet before deciding to leave home. Then the reveal of Chaos ended the second Arc...

I know as well as you do that the plot is all over the place and I put too much emphasis on themes rather than what's actually happening. However, it was clear for anyone who read past the second chapter that I wasn't writing an 'Epic Fantasy'.

Even people from TheOnionJunktion, who I am technically not a part of anymore due to my phone being buggy and being unable to keep in touch with, criticised the third chapter as just exposition.

My reply to him was that as long as that exposition is necessary and interesting, it's fine. There are too many writers scared to write in 'exposition' due to readers giving bad advice sometimes such as 'show don't tell' and other kind of nonsense.

Writing is all about 'telling'. You can't really 'show' a story unless you're drawing or animating.

Onomatopoeias and other shortcuts can perhaps vaguely send some signals about what kind of world you're in. However, that can only be taken so far before actual dialogue and proper expositions are needed since the reader might go down a wrong tangent if you aren't being clear. This is especially true when writing a fantasy story...

I know this sounds like me giving a sassy retort towards criticisms, but like I said that time my RoyalRoad account was flooded by messages telling me how to write my own story and I put a full stop to this story out of anger: There's a difference between helpful and just plain toxic criticisms. The more added to the mental burden, the less I write.

There's a common oxymoron phrase that: 'You should write what you want and not care about comments'. Even though they too COMMENT in order to tell me that...! Which defeats their point.

Let's not get into my thin skin and complaining again since you already had enough of that on my other account. In the end of the day, what I'm trying to say is: Judge the actual story, not your mood or if you personally don't like the genre.

If you don't like a particular brand of fantasy, why the hell do you read it? (Not you guys of course but those commenters on other sites that blatantly say that they don't like fantasy and will rate my story badly because it didn't suit their particular taste.)

I mean, I know personal preference is a thing, but if you can't even add ways to improve the story on top of that personal opinion, then you are going too far. There are people who are genuinely trying to improve their stories on this site and writing short comments that say it's bad and nothing else really kills enthusiasm. I myself write as a hobby rather than work so I don't understand the sense of entitlement some trolls have when 'criticising'.

Moving on, all this Author's Note was for was to ask for reviews so I can take in what you guys thought of it overall and maybe continue it depending on the responses. I'm not saying write uselessly positive praise or anything... just a general critique on what you liked, disliked, and what would like me to improve on is enough.

That's really all that's needed. If even this is too much, then it's fine to write your rough opinion while reading through each Arc. I have grown older and am not that whiny teenager anymore when I started this book, and hope to see your thoughts.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

Time kept passing, and rumors about an intellectual prodigy spread through the Balvan family.
"I heard he was able to talk fluently only one year and a half after he was born"

"You won't believe me, but I personally saw that kid going alone in the library of the guests building trying to pull books out of the shelves. Believe me, I was doing the cleaning service there at that time, and I found him looking at the symbols on the book as if he could read. And he was only two at that time!"
"That's impossible, his mother requests to get him a teacher got approved two years and a half ago, are you saying that he knew how to read before he even got a teacher?"
"I'm only stating what I saw. I'm not sure he was reading, but he sure looked like he was trying to"
Rumors like these were everywhere in the guests' building, spreading from servant to servant.
Everyone was waiting for the next record the bastard son would break in his growth speed.
Five years had passed since his birth in this world, with him working hard to improve himself and gain a stable foothold in the family.
He kept running every day, adding some light workout to make his still frail body less weak.
That gave him a slim but rosy figure, and he felt his body growing stronger every day.
Yet, even if he was more robust than the average kid, he was still just a kid.
He would only do half an hour per day of training since that was the limit of his young body.

He had an apathetic face as if nothing was of his interest and explained things in a slow but concise manner.
Yet, even this lofty character had to change his disposition toward Noah when he found out that he learnt how to read in less than six months of teaching.
After that, he would finish every book the scholar imparted him in less and less time, and he even had time to rent books of his interest from the library on the ground floor.
The servants were so used to him picking books that they would not even remind him to bring them back.
At the age of five, Noah had a general understanding of the topography near the mansion, of the social status of the Balvan family, and finally, he found something regarding cultivators.
Balvan mansion was situated in the countryside near Evergreen Forest, called like this for the type of trees that forest was made of. The big stone road of the main gate flowed into an even bigger road that led to the nearest big city, Mossgrove, that was ruled by the Shosti family.
Balvan family was an underling of the Shosti family and had to pay an annual tribute of gold or goods to keep his rule over this part of the countryside.
They were the landlords of the 50 square kilometers surrounding Balvan mansion and had to exact annual taxes from the villages in this area and protect them from the attack of bandits or magical beasts.
Magical beasts!
In that world, there were species of animals with the innate gift to absorb energy from the world and using it to empower their natural abilities.
The lance of flames used by the dragon years ago was a type of usage of the energy of the world that empowered its already powerful flames, giving them more range of attack and destructiveness.
Finally, about a year ago, Noah found a book about cultivation.
It was an old and heavy book, written by a cultivator that wanted to spread the notion of cultivation to the common people and that later became a classic of literature.
The cultivator's name was lost over time, but the name of the book was still known to all people of culture as the "Yin-Yang system".
'According to that book, the energy of nature is called "Breath of Heaven and Earth", and cultivators and magical beasts absorb and store it to empower their bodies, prolong their lives and use magical techniques. The "Breath" can be used as a mean to empower the body and the martial techniques or can be linked to someone's own mental energy to release elemental attacks. The seven elemental types are light, darkness, fire, water, earth, wind, and lightning, and someone's aptitude to one of these is decided at birth. Generally, everyone has the aptitude toward one element, yet the difference in mental energy decrees his ability to manipulate that element.'
Noah currently had a lesson with Li Neregnes about philosophy in a room on the first floor of the guests building, but his mind was constantly wandering on the topics described in the "Yin-Yang system".
'Magical beasts have an innate ability to manipulate and absorb the "Breath", and they will learn to use it naturally in the course of their life, it can be said that their bloodline is quite advantageous according to this aspect. Yet, Heaven and Earth are fair, so most of them lack the intellect to use their gifts better.'
'Humans, on the other hand, can make a lance out of rocks and bow and arrows out of a tree, but they need techniques to absorb and use the "Breath" and even special devices to understand their aptitude toward an element.'
'No wonder this book wasn't destroyed by cultivators and managed to survive till now, even if you know the general theory behind those powers you can't do much without the proper techniques. The best this book can do is give a better understanding of the supernatural to normal people.'
'Heaven and Earth are fair he says, yet if you are born in a poor family, you can just dream about obtaining techniques. Even for me, born in a family with cultivators, it's hard to say if I'll ever be able to take a look at these magical techniques... Fair my ass.'
Even though Li was engrossed in his exposition, he started to notice that Noah would just nod at him in answer every time he would look at him, while his eyes had been staring fixedly at the same point of the book in front of him for one hour.
A bit enraged, Li took a wooden stick from behind his back and slap it at Noah's left arm.

A slapping sound ringed, and Noah lifted his head to stare at his teacher while holding the spot where the stick had just hit.
"Are you still thinking about that cultivation nonsense? How many times do I have to tell you: don't waste your time. You are just a bastard of a medium-size noble family, even if the Balvan family had some techniques, they are not meant for you. Once Johannes opened his eyes, he saw several lightning bolts speeding towards him; about to hit him. He felt death drawing near, yet he didn't even know what was happening. As he accepted his fate, he felt his feet move- he, again, opened his eyes and realized that he was able to dodge the lightning storm that rained on where he previously stood. Then, out of nowhere, a bunch of flaming balls with different colors- blue, red, yellow, orange, and others in between- came out behind him. Those flames went towards the man who kept shooting the lightning blades at him. The man easily dodged the flames Johannes hurled. The man then started chanting, and while he was chanting, a number of eye-like magic circles appeared behind him. It was uncountable. Johannes thought that it numbered into the thousands.

Johannes felt dread as if his guts were being wrenched. His brain kept telling him to run. He could feel his heart beating fast. He could only stare at the figure of the man in front of the thousand magic circles. Johannes heard himself shout, "Why are you doing this!?"

The man smiled like a maniac and answered, "Because it's fun!" 

All Johannes saw was the disgusting face of a maniac who enjoys inflicting pain unto others. 

"Hehehe. If that's how it is, then there's no need for me to hold back too." Johannes knew he was smiling. He felt exhilarated. He finished his chanting in his mind and shouted, one word, "VOID!"

Johannes woke up with a start. He looked at his surroundings and realized that he was in a familiar place.

"Did I die again?"Johannes said. He was back in the 4-cornered room without corners. He saw the man-in-white again, still sipping his tea.

"No. What you saw was an oracle. You're here right now because you have to be." The man-in-white said.

"What do you mean? Who are you really?" Johannes asked.

The man-in-white put down his tea. He looked at Johannes in a disappointed way. Johannes noticed that the man in white's eyes are red and was close to tears. Johannes knew that this guy is going to mess with him today.

"Is this all you're gonna do whenever you come here? Ask questions that only matter to you? Why not ask me if how I was? How my day went? I have a life too! The world does not revolve around you dear Johannes, Jean, Jan, Eoin, Ioannis or whatever variant of John you are! I am a person too! Huhuhuhu!" The man-in-white exaggeratedly said while crying. He knelt on the floor and kept asking "WHY!? HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME JOHANNES." He acted as if he was hurt and brokenhearted. However, Johannes tried reading the man's thoughts. He wasn't able to read it but he can feel that what he was doing was an act.

Johannes was annoyed. He thought, "Ah, this guy is really ticking me off."

"You do know that I can hear your thoughts, right?" The man-in-white stood up brushed his pants, and smiled.

"I know," Johannes answered in a disinterested manner. "So why am I here again?" 

"Woah, I like you John. You're really disrespectful but really interesting. I've only been watching you for a year. But you really crack me up."

"Blah, blah, blah. Why am I here? What was the dream I just had?" Johannes asked impatiently.

"Well, for once, I'll do my job as a guide, or an Area Manager if you may. I only oversee your world sooooo,  you asked me who I am? Call me The Exposition Bro. You're here because you've been baptized, or being baptized rather. The ritual is not over yet so you've been sent here. Don't worry, I'll send you back once I was able to explain some stuff about your new world.

"Don't you think its too late to explain everything? It's been, 1-year exposition bro."Johannes said.

"Well, that's just how it is." the man answered with a blank face. "So, the last time you were here, I told you that there would be magic and that I would give you a gift. In this world, the magic's base will always be the 4 classical elements. Fire, Air, Water, and Earth." The man said. "Now the level of magic you can do will depend on the talent that you have. As a reincarnate, you won't have to worry about it because you are reborn with a high level of talent." The man explained. "Now, as the Exposition Bro, it's not my job to teach you. It's up to you to learn how to use magic." The man said.

"What about that gift you mentioned? You said that I'd be given talent and a gift before you threw me out of this room." Johannes asked expectantly. He was not disappointed with the things the Exposition Bro said. 

"Well, you kinda already know. You've been using it. Do you think you can hear thoughts? Basically that's it, but it's really not." The man said. He continued, "Your gift is called 'insight'. With insight, you can understand anything you think about. You will be able to understand everything you wanted to. Like what you do with the people around you. You were able to understand their thoughts based on their body language, expressions, tone of voice, etc. However, the accuracy of your understanding will depend on how much you know. You can strengthen this gift by learning. As they say, knowledge is power." The exposition guy lazily said.

"Thank you for doing your job," Johannes said in a joking manner.

"John, I told you I like you right? Since you're joking with me, I'll do you one better." The man said while smiling suspiciously. He acted as if he was offended by Johannes' little jab. 

"What are you gonna do?!" Johannes asked nervously. After he saw Exposition Bro's smile, he already knew that the Exposition Bro will do something unnecessary.

"By the way, call me Terminus so you won't refer to me as 'the man'. Even if I like the nickname Exposition Bro, it has too many syllables and letters" he said knowingly.

"Wait, what?" Johannes said before he was kicked out of the room by Terminus.

For the third time, Johannes woke up. He looked up and saw a tongue of fire, a floating rock, swirling water, and a ball of wind over him. He already knew that this was Terminus' doing. He looked around and he was back again in the church. In this world, 1-year-old children would be dedicated to the church. It is at this time that the child's talent would be measured. To measure the talent, the child is placed in the middle of a talent-measurement circle. The talent will be measured depending on the number of the magic circles that appear. Normally, the average magic circles to appear will be 5. However, an aberrant such as Johannes' dad, (whose name he still does not know since he was either called Master, Lord Escrima, or Honey Bunch), had 9 magic circles appear; the highest number ever recorded in the kingdom's history.

Aside from the Talent, the compatible element will also be revealed. An element will suddenly appear over the head of the child. However, in Johannes case, there were 4 elements to appear, which had never happened before (his dad only had fire and earth appear over his head which is also abnormal). He looked at where his parents were; his mother's face was pale and even though her mouth was covered with a fan, he knew it was wide open because of shock. He looked at his dad, and saw a worried look on his face. Because of his father's influence, there were only four people in the area, including the minister who administered the ritual. 

He didn't even try counting the magic circles. Knowing Terminus, he would've done something exaggerated. 

"M-my Lord." The Minister called Johannes' dad. "Thi-This is unheard of. 12 Magic Circles? This will cause an uproar!" His face was pale. He looked close to death and his face, chest, and back were soaked with sweat.

"I know, your excellency." Johannes' father said. "Tell the world that my son summoned 8 magic circles. Even if we tried to lower it, his talent will show and we won't be able to hide it. Also, the fact that he is my son would mean that 8 magic circles is within expectations. As for his elements, just tell the world that he summoned Fire and Wind. Your Excellency, He is my son, people won't be surprised with it. Trust me." Lord Escrima said in a calm manner. 

"What about the King. The King will surely ask me. I cannot lie to the King." The Minister asked nervously. 

"I will deal with the King. He is my friend, he would understand why I did this." The Lord assured the minister.

He helped his wife to stand, and together they walked towards Johannes. "I will protect you, my son. No one will ever be able to lay their hands on you."

Johannes felt the sincerity and worry in his father's voice. He knew that what happened would make his life really, really, really, unnecessarily difficult.

"Damn you Exposition Dude!!! I'll get back at you for this!"

A young adult died in a freak accident, leaving the world filled with regrets. However, he was reincarnated to another world wherein everything is like the Medieval Times. Monarchy, Knights, Chivalry, everything is the same in our world, except for one thing, MAGIC.

"Hello Zero", said Steven.

Steven smiled. "Very well", he said. "You see, I am from another world. This world and everyone who exists here is part of a story, a book. I have read what will happen in the future and I know all about you. Roland is also from another world, a world almost identical to mine. The only difference is that Roland is a fictional character in my world, along with all of you."

Whatever Zero was expecting, this wasn't it. Zero struggled to make a coherent response. "You… You are telling me that you somehow know everything about us because you read about it in a book."

"Yep", responded Steven. "Also, all the technology that Roland has developed, it is made from the knowledge from his previous world. You see, our world is so much more advanced than this world. There is no magic, but man has compensated by creating tools and machines which accomplish so much more. We live in cities of millions of people, powered by splitting apart the most fundamental building blocks of the universe; we are fed by food produced from farms worked by a few people using machines to farm hundreds of acres."

Steven continued his exposition. "Each person can talk with someone hundreds of miles away with a tap of their finger, using devices called cell phones. We can capture and record images without the aid of magic and copy them and send them around the world instantly with the internet. The life of an ordinary man would seem like the life of a king to people living here." Then, Steven took on a darker tone. "Yet, with all that mankind has improved the world, we have also gained the power to destroy it. We wrote in the letter that the old ways of war are obsolete. Let me tell you about what war was like back on Earth."

Steven paused for a moment to prepare himself and then began speaking. "What you call snow powder is a precursor to what we now call gunpowder. The power of gunpowder revolutionized the world. A single cannon could launch a massive metal ball over a hundred kilometers. Machine guns allowed a man to shoot hundreds of bullets a second. The fields were bathed in blood and in some battles hundreds of thousands of people died."

Steven looked over at Zero who was staring silently in shock before continuing. "Then we built massive monstrosities called tanks. These beasts of iron ran through a battlefield destroying all in its path. Our ships were massive and made of metal and armed with cannons. Then there are planes which soar through the sky and deliver bombs to those below them. All this is only the beginning. With the creation of missiles, bombs can be delivered anywhere in the world and nowhere was safe. The most frightening bomb was known as the atomic bomb. The atomic bomb was show powerful that it could wipe out an entire city by itself. And these are not the tiny cities you have here, these are cities of millions. This terrible weapon was only used twice, but it cast its shadow over the world. Two countries built up tens of thousands of these bombs. In this time of madness a single person had the power to destroy the entire world."

"This is the power that we know of, and this is the power that will crush all opposition. The demons will fall before the power of technology", Steven said. Inside, he admitted that missiles probably wouldn't be developed any time soon, but he was going for the full shock effect here.

Finally, Zero spoke. "You have the power of gods", she said quietly.

"I can see that you want this power", Steven said. "I know you wish to use your Soul Battlefield to take Roland's memories. But I know the future. In the original story you did try - and you lost."

"Lose? How could I lose to him. I have won against hundreds of people", Zero said indignantly.

"With all the power of the modern world, how could you stand a chance", chided Steven. "Both me and Roland know of how to defeat you. Should you try to fight us you will die." Steven then took off his God's Stone of Retaliation and threw it away. "Try me if you dare".

Zero shook as she processed what Steven had said. Was it true that all her work was for nothing? Was Steven just boasting to her with these fantastical tales? Steven knew everything about her down to her ability. He held all of the cards while she knew nothing. Zero saw Steven who was looking straight at her with a look of complete confidence. When Zero looked into his eyes, she knew that there was a battle she could not win.

Zero's world has been turned upside down. "Was everything I have done for nothing", she murmured to herself. "How could I have been surpassed by these commoners, who I have looked down upon all my life." Zero was devastated as she found out all that she had worked for was gone.

Steven watched as Zero sank to her knees and screamed. Zero cursed the deities and then muttered, "So I was no chosen one… I was not blessed by God. It was Roland all along." She stood up and asked Steven, "Well if I am not the one blessed by God, then what am I even doing. Why am I even here"?" Zero's tone became increasingly desperate.

Steven walked up to Zero and told her, "Gods, deities, why do they matter." Steven paused for a moment before saying, "Back in my world there was a song that said, 'There are no supreme saviors, nor deities on which to depend. To create humankind's happiness we must entirely depend on ourselves!'"

"From this day forward, rely not on hopes of an outside power. To earn victory you must do it yourself", said Steven.

When Zero exited, she left as a new person, with new hopes, new convictions, and new confidence.

Steven Wang, a college student in America, dies and is transported to the world of Release that Witch. Now in the world of his favorite webnovel, Steven goes out to change the future of the world.

Author here. I missed the deadline for the writing competition and realized I am a consumer rather than a creator. So here was the outline for the story, just to explain how the story was going to go.
Chapter 5: New Hope
There was going to be exposition about how great the current world was. How the MC's life in this world is better and brighter.
Chapter 6: Costume Ball
They will arrive at the ball, meet a few random people in various costume when all of a sudden a new monster appears. Rie then appears to save MC and monster retreats
Chapter 7: Parallel Worlds
Rie explains what is going on to her knowledge. Few major points. That Rie was once just like him, a person that dies and goes to another world. 3 things follow when he dies: Monster, Trainer, Anchor.
Rie is the monster, anchor is the person to keep him sane through the trials (Michael). Every time he dies he gets an ability of the monster's based on survival.
Chapter 8: Weak
Test abilities, all of them weak. He tries to get a handle to make them more beneficial. Rie traded her powers in for something, she won't say. So now she is left with innate abilities.
Chapter 9: No Pain
Monster appears, Rie defends for a moment then lets MC get killed for a better ability. Jai dies then wakes up as earlier and talks with Michael
Chapter 10: Initiative
As the anchor, Michael is also a beacon for where the monster is supposed to go. Rie uses Michael as bait. Jai gets angry when Michael is almost hurt and is able to beat the new monster, actually killing it. The random voice said a notification verifying death of monster. It is not the end, they only get some breathing room. Jai wonders how many times he will kill or get killed.
Chapter 11: 2 Years
Time jump 2 years. Jai decides, he doesn't want to risk it in other worlds and he likes this one. Since he has changed worlds every other death, he decides to stay. The three work together and use various tricks to kill monsters with stereotypical monster weaknesses
Chapter 12: Good Times
Michael, with his pestering ways commenting on Rie's beauty, inevitably pushes both Jai and Rie together. Focus onto them killing the 12th monster. Some banter and action. See some scars on them. Back to their mansion, restock. They somehow acquired a book of over 30 monsters. They try and find common weaknesses and have backup plans. They sort of know the schedule of the monster's appearance. Otherwise daily life.
Chapter 13: Final Monster
Hardest monster yet. Accidents with backup occurred, somehow still able to delay and finally win

Chapter 14: Processing
The three are tired and bloody with grins on their faces. They cheer over this fight and are eager to fix their mistakes. Jai is wondering about the processing. Then things start to disintegrate. No one knows what is happening. Michael turns to particles with a smile and still says a cheesy one-liner. Rie starts to go and Jai goes to hug, wondering if this will be the last. Last words. White wash room with only Jai inside. The first voice appears and starts saying statistics. 8 million 4 hundred 28 thousand and 39 individuals participated. 2,257 individuals survived. 4,214,019 individuals suffered issues either mental or computational. 2,780,412 individuals either gave up or committed suicide. 715,675 individuals lost either both or one of their helpers, trainer and anchor. 596,397 individuals were found at fault for crimes committed during event or had incompatible personality. 119,279 individuals were killed off.
Chapter 15: First
Jai topped the charts because of the final 2 thousand people he topped the charts for least deaths and overall score. He now has a new hope: to create a family for himself. The previous 2 years will be his goal, a family like that. If he can find Rie and Michael, perfect. Otherwise he will make a new family. Doesn't matter where or status, only who and when it will happen. New trial approaches. New game where dying isn't the end. The 2 thousand people are all in it. Jai teams up with the others in the top 5. New  voice sounds off to play to your hearts content. There is no death.

Jai died. It was a vibrant red, but he died. If he is dead, then how can he die again? Is his death the end or the beginning? Questions, just like Jai's death are never ending.

"I think he pointed in that direction." Said one prisoner pointing off into the distance.

"I think he pointed directly behind me, so we should go in that direction." Said another pointing at himself, or more accurately, through himself.

"I'm detecting a theme going on here. What's up with all the lawyers?" I ask.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "By name? what do you mean by that?"

He continued, "Most of Kaido's subordinates have names in a theme related to cards. Both 'Straight' and 'Flop' are terms found in the card game Poker. So both of us were arrested for that reason alone. Atop of that, we are both lawyers. It's in our nature to argue for one reason or another. "Wow." I said honestly. "That sounds stupid. Stupid all around really. It's stupid to arrest people on their names alone, and it's stupid to argue with someone arresting you and possibly sending to jail if you argue."

"Mistakes were made." Dull says agreeing.

Flop seems agitated and starts slapping the back of a piece of paper he found loudly, drawing my attention. "Can we please move on to why I interrupted you please? It's rather important."

"Sorry. Go ahead now." I apologize and tell Flop.

He smiles and crosses his arms. Then he suddenly uncrosses them and begins to wave his finger in the air. "There was a contradiction in what you said Dull!"

Dull, and every other prisoner who is listening to me gasps in surprise. I raise an eyebrow and say, "Oh? A contradiction you say? Please explain Flop."

"Dull. You said that it's natural for someone to point directly forward in front of themselves and that's correct. What's incorrect is that you said Keystone was pointing in the direction of the birch tree!"

Just then a puff of smoke apered in front of us and out came a man with gravity defying white hair and almost his whole face covered by a face mask and his headband over his left eye. He was wearing the traditional jonin outfit.

"Naruto, where is my book?" came the all too sweet voice of the man. Naruto just toss him the book and said, "your finally here sensei so, meet the new team."

The man looked at us and smiled, or rather his visible eye made a 'U' form that looked like a smile, "Well hi there my cute little genin, it's good to meet you all, I'm Kakashi Hatake your new sensei"

'So this is Kakashi-sensei, not exactly what I expected but, beggars can't be choosers', I thought as I took in my new sensei's appearance. He did not look like much to be honest.

"Ok, let's start with introductions shall we" sensei started getting our attention, "I'll start, Im Kakashi Hatake, I like reading and spending time in the memorial stone, I dislike traitors and those whom abandon their friends and comrades and my dream is

How to describe Sakura's introduction? I would have to compare it to a fan-gasom, seriously the way she talks about Sasuke you would think he's the reincarnation of Kami or something. Sensei just brushed it of and told Sasuke to introduce himself. Literally calling hime and I quote 'Mr. McEgeLord'.
I whanted to laugh so badly but was able to hold it in.

Sasuke, much like Naruto, did not react to the nickname and gives his introduction, " My name is Sasuke Uchiha, I don't like much outside of training and studying new techniques. I dislike fangirls and people that lie to me. As for dreams, I want to rebuild my clan and find a surtan man."

His introduction got multiple reaction, Sakura had hearts in her eyes, like always. I was just staring curiously at him since this is the most I have ever heard him talking about himselfe. But sensei and Naruto were kinda shoked, I guess like me they did not expect for him to say that much.

"Ok, finally silver-eyes", I nodded and began, "I'm Shirayuki, Im an orphan so don't have a last name, I like everything cold like ice-cream, ice-tea, etc. I dislike rapist, traders, and those that look down on me, my dream is to become stronger and stara
family."

"Good, good, now that we all know each other I have something to tell you all" Kakashi-sensei started to say in a very mysteries type of voice "you're not genin yet!"

We were all dumb founded at this revelation we looked between the two of them to see if they were joking but, they were not, "what do you mean were not genin?"

"Out of the 27 students that graduated only 9 or 10 will become genin" responded Kakashi "the genin test in the academy is just to see if you have the potential to become genin"
We just sat there dumb founded, all our hard work and we aren't genin yet, what the hell.

"Tomorrow you will take your real genin text, so come here at 6:00am and don't eat breakfast or you will puke", with that Kakashi-sensei and Naruto-sempai disappeared in puff's of white and orange smokes respectively. And so we all went our separate ways.

Tree years after graduating from the academy and being the sole surviving student of Kakashi, Naruto gets a new team 7 consisting of Sasuke, Sakura, Shirayuki and himself. Will this new team be able to melt his cold heart or will he remain in the loveless abist that he is in.
