A guideline for authors who are new to the business, written by a fan and veteran webnovel reader. These tips are what I think shows the basic quality of a novel, apart from its story. 

Recently, lots of originals have been popping up, and I have noticed that while they have great potential and exciting storylines and settings, the good aspects are buried in errors that could easily be corrected.

Authors, please give it a read. Of course, you will have your own thoughts and difficulties following these guidelines, but I feel that by following as many as you can, your novel will be more liked. Thank you!

Fellow readers as well as Authors, please feel free to mention other tips I can add to this guide to make it more detailed. I am happy to listen to your opinions on changes that can be made to my current guide.

Im very sorry for those that liked this story so far, but i would like to make an announcement.

From the beginning this story was only supposed to be „training" for me to get better at writing. Those chapters that i have written until now were mostly „information" but without real character interaction, so i had no real problem writing them, but now that i started writing actual plot, i realized that i just can't get a feeling for the characters and it's also not all that much fun. 

That is why I made the decisions to put this story on ice for the time being. 

Instead i am going to write the story that i'm already working on for a very long time. (Probably several years already as the MC started out as a conceptual character from the first story i ever thought up.) This  actually is the story i wanted to polish my writing skills for, because i was feeling that they were not worthy of this story. But now i'm still going to weite it, because that is at least going to be exciting.

But if you still want me to continue writing „Anomaly" i might consider it if there are enough people that want that. In that case just put it in your Library and i can see how many have done that. (Its not like i don't have any plot planned.)

Still i would be glad if you could take a look at my other brainchild, it's called „forgotten worlds" and primarily a western fantasy but with many eastern elements. (But no system or game worlds!)

I'm not all that good at writing a synopsis, so i hope you can still give it a try.

If i had to say what type of story this is, i would say the japanese "Isekai with gamesystem" type, just that i am trying to make it as logical as possible especially in terms of physics and the intelligence of my characters. (You can't imagine how many stories i dropped because of these reasons...) Well, this is just me trying to do a better job. (In this regard i'm always open to criticism.)

Yo. Makina_ here. don't know what's happening anymore. I uhh. This has never happened before. I mean, It's my first time writing on webnovel. Can someone write on your books without permission? I've seen Makina's notes that I didn't write. Please fix it. I didn't delete them. It's proof that someone's tampering with my novel. So I will leave the story "The Trolley Problem", like this. Unfinished. I just don't want someone doing this. As long as they're not posting/altering my book, I'm fine with that. But for now, I'll leave this one. It's like you entered it with the most optimistic and most passionate version of yourself. You wanted to write not just because you have that skill and talent to do so. You wanted to write, not to boost your capabilities as a writer, but for—the sole purpose that you wanted to move and inspire people—through the power of your words.

Art is supposed to make you something like magic flows through your veins of your creativity and imagination, and writing is one of the most underrated forms of art that exists.

This is what she decided, and that's her goal to fulfil her wishes.

All the backgrounds, the storylines, the scripts were mostly written by her. People in the world couldn't help but get interested in how broad her imagination and simplicity of her works. No other reason why people couldn't wait for the upcoming VR gaming. All of them already knew that would break any records from history.

Apparently, all of the above was just one of her dreams.

She wasn't a designer, nor a coder,  but a writer that holds extraordinary ideas of gaming. She is also big fond of gaming. Being a gamer is like one of her remedy against anxiety and stress—an escape from the cruel reality at some point.

Last previous months, she became one of the members of the famous high-tech industry, known as ⓜⓥⓡ —Montclair Virtual Reality Gaming Industry. 

This time, she was transferred to ZA Team, where they conducted a game about the zombie apocalypse. They need a writer to make up the storylines of the gameplay. And this is her part to join in. 

At some point, she got excited from the upcoming thrill beheading to her mind. Well, why not? Aren't they just living undead who eat people's brains or flesh? 

And everyone. . .erm. . .will go mayhem against all those zombies through the weapons they create. No schools, no jobs but to survive at any cost. Go adventure and meet more people to save. Idk if it sounds exciting for you, but it's exciting for us, as the gamers.

Sometimes, it can be really intriguing.

The sound of tapping against the keys—is soft and powerfully subtle as her fingers typing with ease; emitted a soothing aura - as tranquil as a rain.

In her laptop, she saw her writings from the first chapter. She made this story as a storyline of gameplay called, ᴛʜᴇ ʀɪsᴇ ᴏғ ᴜɴᴅᴇᴀᴅ.  

It was a story about a young girl from a real-world transferred to the post-apocalyptic world that became a princess and should bear the next heir as a future queen, however, an apocalypse collapses; swarms of zombies invaded their kingdom, spreading the virus to the people and become one of them. 

In spite of all, there was a bodyguard, right in the hand of the so-called king, who falls in love with the princess, and swore to protect her but in the end, he failed to do so. 

She was planning to make her find her way back to him. But first things first, she needs to train herself and get stronger in order to save more lives. 

The goal of the game is one of her mission to save her kingdom, search her family and find the solution of the curse to why it all happened. Perhaps, only if there's an elusive mage to fix it.

In the middle of writing, she was now stuck after the fifteen chapters, where she hardly think of what would be the antidote. Should she add an unaffected creature that carries a strong antibody to fight back the virus? 

Well, if she adds that then, it would be hard for the princess to find it since who knows she has to travel the world to find a creature that wasn't affected. Or. . . She would just add a creature that got affected but its blood help to regain and fight the virus for its special case. She can add some special abilities for it...that would be amazing right?

Ugh, it's frustrating somehow. How on Earth would be that easy to find that creature? 

Just writing about it, makes her eyes watered. Well, writing can make her have a little amount of money. She needs a job, a proper job. It's hard giving up from what you love—writing some sort of amazing stories—but it was so stupid to keep doing it when it is useless to you when no one appreciates it.

She took the last glimpse of her work, with tired eyes and closed her laptop in shut as she begins to think about her works, realizing how lacking her experience was.

Aria looked at the clock that was already a quarter past seven, well close to 7:30 am, which is the time she must be at work. Luke should have been waiting for her now. She tapped the button of the printer and print the rest of the chapters. 

She ran hastily to the bathroom and clumsily tripped from the blankets that were strolled over the floor; causing her to fall forward and land flat on her face against the floor as she mumbled multiple curses on her way then, slammed the door. 

After several minutes, there was a knock on the door. Even though, she hardly prepared herself at the moment. Her black hair dripping wet from a newly bath. This time she hurried to the door, not wanting Luke to wait any longer. 

The door clicked, a familiar presence stepped in, revealing Luke with his MVR uniform, her partner on AZ Team. 

It was a coincidence that he lived the next door of her apartment. I'm sure that some of the readers from romance novels will be squealing like a fan school girl as if they would be meet a bad boy just right after their doors. 

And no, there was nothing special about this guy. Sweet, polite and gentlemen but nerd, when it comes into codings, and computers.

It's kind of, out of the picture as a bad type of guy. 

He was a tall, broad build with tousled charcoal hair about a height of six feet. His nose was sharp, like hawklike menacingly, with chubby cheeks. Well, his eyes. . . didn't seem normal as the others. They were large, calm and full of propitious. Their shade of green was unlikely anything she'd ever seen.

Compared to his height, she was short. Whenever she tried to pat or reach his shoulder, she had to be on her toes. Skinny and a little clumsy. There was nothing special about her.

Achathia is a kingdom coated with magic and swords. Heroic soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect the kingdom. In this land, zombies are normally seen everywhere and people dying every day in which you couldn't stop, losing the lives of their loved ones around them. Princess Aria lived her life in the lap of luxury: ruling the land by and beheading those who defied her every evening. Despite being a princess, she needs to know how to hold a sword in order to defend her family; the same as everyone else in the kingdom. Beneath an unbreakable curse cast at this land, in order to survive Princess Aria needs to find an elusive mage to unfold the curse in reverse.

We finally broke through a hundred chapters! I still remember the events that happened half a month ago where I restarted the story. If I didn't do that, we could've obtained at least a hundred and sixty chapters by now... 

But oh well, since everything's all done and well, I just wanna say thank to the readers who reached this milestone with me, and now I have somewhat of a crucial announcement to make.

This concerns the future of the novel. 

First, ever since I reached the ninetieth chapter, I have considered changing my writing style. But what do you think, is the writing style good? Is it too rigid, or is it too verbose? Boring? Exciting?

Second, I have received some complaints that the Main Character isn't relying on that much with the System, so what do you guys think? Should he rely more on the System or should he do everything using his intellect and strength?

So.....I feel silly. I'm writing a journal for the first time in my life and it's on my phone of all things, while I'm sat here in this... I don't even know.

I guess I should start from the beginning huh? Seeing as I'm writing this for someone else. For you, in fact. Whoever you are. Whoever found this. Right, sorry, the beginning.

As you've no doubt seen from the stupid phone cover, my name's Aaron (17) and I was sick of homework. Not the most exciting setting I know, but there you have it. Stupid physics module was driving me up the wall and so I gave up, as I'm sure many of us do, and asked the GC for the answers. I got them, but the person who sent the pictures didn't have a name or phone number or anything, people were coming online in response to my message and none of us knew who this guy was. We started asking, sending messages over and over seeing if we could figure out who he was, people asked the other physics classes if they knew who he was or how he got on our chat. Well we didn't find anything out, and then he sent another picture. And people started calling the police.

A group of students is haunted by gruesome images sent anonymously to their group chat, a few take it upon themselves to investigate where the police refuse to go: into the supernatural.

Dear Diary,

I really hate writing stories; I can't even remember when was the last time I wrote. However, on my birthday my son has given me a diary, you, saying that you will be my new BFF, to write down my thoughts or anything in general. He told me that my English sucks, so here I am starting to practice my writing skill, not that I have any at the first place.

Now, what should I write? I don't think I have any exciting moment or thrilling experience that I can share with everyone. Should I just do a self introduction to you, my dear new friend?

My name is Anna Lin and I'm married to my dearest husband, Charles Wang. We've been married for 20 years now and we have three amazing sons. Our first son is Brandon Wang, he's 16 years old; second son is Bobby Wang, 14 years old; third son is Billy Wang, 12 years old.
How did we come up with our sons' names? My name starts with the letter A, while my husband's name starts with the letter C, so we decided to use the letter B which is the letter in between our names as the start of our children's names. If we line it up, it will formed as ABC. Isn't it a great idea?

I can't think of anything that I want to write and share with you right now because I'm feeling quite sleepy since it's already 2:50am right now. But then, it's better to start writing something even it's just a tiny bit as I am well known as a procrastinator and my son is making sure that I have written something cause I can feel he's watching me. I'm not even sure who's the parent and who's the child anymore. It feels like we have exchanged our role positions.

A big secret.
 
It was a secret only she had known. Even her closest friends didn't know about this certain furtive. And it wasn't because Esmeralda did not want to involve anyone in it, it was simply because she preferred her other life—the one all the people outside had known—at bay. Esmeralda regarded freedom as something very important. Her privacy and freedom, to be exact. 
 
She had a Polish mother who was long gone, and a father who didn't really care for anything except grounding her up. Esmeralda's thirst for the things she regarded the same as rare jewels were reflected in her big secret. She didn't want her life as Esmeralda Sanders, the girl who constantly stuttered, that nerd with an awkward short stature—to interfere to who she was in that big secret she made.

Under the pen name Scheherazade, Esmeralda had written a huge hit web novel. It harbored so much views and was popular in just several months. It was still on-going with about fifty chapters at most. She was writing in her spare time as an assistant biologist while she writes the novel leisurely. 
 
Scheherazade was a popular author with a million followers in just a few months. Those in the writing community had known both her and her works. Scheherazade was BOTH a fantasy author and a reader. She often gave feedbacks to other books, which had aided her popularity over the course of just a few months.
 
Esmeralda's work, 'Andromeda: The Lost Princess' was a huge hit online that some publishing companies were emailing her with offers of illustrations, mangas, and even movie adaptations and animes! These certain happenstances made Esmeralda more secretive than before. Her pen name, Scheherazade, must only be exclusive to her and no one more.
 
She knows how her family would react to such news—and she doesn't want to get started with her father. Esmeralda also did not like the fact that her life will intermingle with that of Scheherazade. She had taken all the precautionary measures in order to hide her identity. Some fans were already digging through her profile to find clues on who she was. And unsurprisingly enough, her fans already got their hunch on where she was. Even her nationality! 
 
Sometimes, people can be creepy.
 
Esmeralda took the name Scheherazade from a Middle East story character. Esmeralda was fascinated with the story of the girl named Scheherazade from the book One Thousand and One Nights. To have her life spared by the king who was meant to kill her by dawn, she told him a story so exciting that he wasn't able to kill her and instead had urged her to continue. Upon telling numerous exciting stories, which lasted a thousand and one nights, Scheherazade finally succumbed to her fate and die by the king's hands. But this was averted because he already had fallen in-love with her.
 
The name Scheherazade was deeply engraved with Esmeralda's heart. She wanted to do the same thing as this female protagonist. To tell stories until she finally accepts what will become of her. To unleash her ideas until her final moment. This is why Esmeralda chose such a certain pen name. 
 
Scheherazade was her biggest secret.
 
Which is why she was so flabbergasted when all of a sudden, her whole cover has been blown.
 
How in the world did Berthold Wagner find out she was Scheherazade? Her Twitter and Instagram name—right, they were the same and boring 'Esmeralda' but how? Just how did someone easily find her?
 
Esmeralda wanted to kick herself. She should've just denied it. But she didn't know what to do. The doctor just blurted it out so suddenly when they were in the president's mansion. She didn't know how to handle the pressure.
 
Esmeralda took a deep breath, and then began to type on her laptop. 
 
Andromeda: The Lost Princess
A sword was pointed to Lancelot, who was now thrown off the ground. Before him was a panting young lady, a grin slowly creeping to her delicate face.
"You lost, Lancelot." Andromeda extends her arm to Lancelot, and then both of them smiled at each other.
"Yes, princess. I did,"
"For the hundredth time, I defeated you. But you're holding back," Andromeda says. "Why is that?"
"Because you're . . ."
"A girl?"
"The princess." Lancelot corrects. "You cannot be doing this. You should be studying, learning music, drawing . . ."
"But I love swords."
"Yes, but . . ."
"And you permitted me to have one,"
"That was because I—"
"You even gave me tips."
"I—"
"Lancelot, it's your fault, you've been spoiling me."
Andromeda laughed heartily. It was the time she was happy, even if no one but Lancelot came to visit her in the lone tower.

"I'm meeting father?" Andromeda asks excitedly. "I'm meeting my family now, Lancelot?"
Lancelot nods. "Yes, you're eighteen now. And your debut will just be a matter of time. You won't be staying in this tower anymore."

"I'm sorry, Princess."
"Why—" Andromeda covers her face with her bare hands. "Why must my family hate me? Why can't I meet them, Lancelot? Why do they want to keep me in this tower?"
"Princess . . ."
"Ever since I was born, I was stuck in this tower for God knows how long. I was raised here by nursemaids without the sign of my father and mother. Only their picture had been the one I've ever seen their faces. . ." Andromeda sobs. "I only wanted to be with them . . ."
A few pages more . . .
"You—why are you not on your tower?! Lancelot . . .!"
"Father—I—"
"Get out," the king says. "Get her out of here now. Imprison her to that tower! Why are you not doing your job, Lancelot!"
"Im-imprison?" Andromeda repeats. "F-father, it's me, Andromeda—I—I just want to meet you . . ."
"LANCELOT!"
"Understood," Lancelot says, and seizes Andromeda by her waist, and then walked away from the king.
 
 
"Andromeda, what did you do?" The knights ask with a slight tremble in his voice; in his hand was a corpse clad in a bloodied, luxurious robe. "You murdered the king!"
 
"Let him be, Lancelot," Andromeda says coldly. "Let his blood bathe the throne. His rule now ends."
 
"King Arthur . . . my king!" Lancelot grieves. "Andromeda, how could you . . . how could you do this to your father?"
 
"Merlin chose the wrong king," Andromeda says. "Guinevere chose the wrong husband,"
