Some authors in chat talked about a book's worth. 

Most agreed that its value depends on the readers' willingness to pay for a novel. And the most selling here in WN are romance and h e n t a i.

Honestly, it is true in a sense that most authors who don't write these two genres or have the general audience receive lesser income to none. However, there are also other genres that are popular.

What saddening is that a story which has no s** will be buried deep in the list of books.

One time, a person told me that he won't read books without s**. I think you understand what I mean.

Sad... 

Those good literary authors will just choose Amazon. I totally agree with that.

But, is that what really makes a book valuable? So, the authors will just resort to writing stories with s**  since most will welcome it.

I feel sad if it is.

I've been reading and watching epic and classic stories like Mary Poppins, The Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yuugi, The Vision of Escaflowne, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and others. 

These are great books but I'm not sure if the new generation is still reading them.

Hoping they are.

So, what is the worth of a writer? Of a person's storyteller's heart and creativity?

Will it just be buried deep in isolation? Will it just be following the flow of readership and abandon its desire to produce good stories?

I disagree. We still love good stories. There are still more readers who love good reads. In fact, these type of stories are more engaging and imploring. Those epic stories won't be called epic if no one reads them anymore. They are classified as such because their worth is beyond trends.

They simply go against the flow and create a tsunami, leaving people awestruck.

That is the type of book I want to write. I prefer to be remembered as an author who writes good stories without compromising the principles I believe.

Don't get me wrong. There are still good books with a bit of those s** things out there that you can read. But they don't focus on those scenes but on the story itself.

I am a person who never follows trends. And I care less what people call me. I will rather be true to myself than to follow the crowd and lose my self-respect.

In my opinion, the worth of a story is not only on the business side but also on how much heart and effort the author gives to his/her books.

To authors: Let us enjoy writing good stories. Let us be proud of what we write for not everyone can be authors. And not all writers can finish a book. The truth, most books here are unfinished.

To readers: Support good books and give the authors that confidence to continue writing good stories. Without your support, the authors might give up. If no one read good stories, then there's no point on writing one. But I believe most readers still love those type of books.

Epic-Level Story Mission—"Biohazard" begins!
Current Mission—"Biohazard Omen"
Mission requirement: Defend Roguetown for 12 hours and destroy all enemy players during the confrontation mission. Mission reward: Calculated based on performance during mission.
"As expected!"
Even though Feng Luo had been expecting it when the system prompted the familiar message, his heart was still a bit thrilled.
"But… it's a confrontation mission! Enemy players?"
This part of the system prompt was beyond his expectation.
Luo Feng wasn't the only one shocked. In fact, when the system prompt popped up, Brother Ling was at a building near the hospital, observing a member of the city guard snarling and mutating on the hospital rooftop. He was surprised when Feng Luo told him about the effects of the T-virus infection and was stunned when he saw the prompt.
"Biohazard? Epic-level story mission!"
"Aren't we on the city-building mission? How did it suddenly become an Epic-level mission? And what kind of level is Epic?"
Brother Ling wasn't being ignorant. Up until now, the story missions that had appeared in War belonged to only four levels, which were Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Super.
Beginner story missions usually involved fewer than a total of 10 players and major NPCs, and the stories could be complicated but on a small scale. As for Advanced-level missions, they usually involved more than 1,000 to 10,000 people, just like the story mission that Feng Luo had taken part in to defend the Town of Exiles.
However, the Epic-level quest was a mission level that no one had ever heard of before.
"Biohazard?" Brother Ling kept mumbling. At the moment, he didn't know what the name meant, and he couldn't even imagine the level of lethality of this invisible infectious virus.
On the first floor of the cafe, Sister Rui was immersed in thought.
"Biohazard… It seems that our mission coincides with this Epic level mission, and I don't know if that's good or bad."
Her eyes were firmly locked on the T-virus-infected, naked, bloodied body that had grown much larger after swallowing the killed scientist.
In War, overlaps between two different characters or stories were common, resulting in changes in missions. When missions coincided, most of the time, they would become harder to complete.
In one of the cubicles at the coffee house, Feng Luo was looking at the rooftop of the hospital. The size of the infected body was huge, with muscles and big claws. A sudden thought came to his mind: Tyrant!
Tyrant. A powerful biochemical product that was produced by the T-virus.
The T-virus, short for Tyrant-Virus, had a significant status in the game Resident Evil. In Resident Evil, Tyrant was a clone of a Russian soldier with terrible power and a height of around four meters in its full form. However, it did not make an appearance in the live-action film.
Feng Luo did not expect to see a Tyrant here. Although it seemed that the Tyrant had not evolved in its full form yet, its three-meter height, huge claws, and its ability to swallow a dead body so quickly displayed its lethality and ferocity.
However, from this point of view, it was obvious that the Biohazard story in War was quite different than the Resident Evil story on Earth. After all, there were no virus outbreaks in the United States, Eastern Europe, or Japan, like the original story. And with the intervention of players, it was certainly impossible for the mission to fully follow the original story.
The appearance of Wesker and the "White Queen," however, allowed Feng Luo the advantage of knowing the setting of Resident Evil in War. It could be useful to know which important characters would appear.
While Feng Luo was thinking, Captain Harley was not idling around. NPCs would not get any hints from the system. Therefore, they didn't know what would happen next. But the one thing that he could be sure of was that he couldn't allow the crazy monster before him to threaten the lives of the residents in Roguetown.
So…
"Damn, what is happening!" Captain Harley shouted as he took out a police assault rifle from his back. He went straight to the window and started shooting the Tyrant on the hospital roof.
The hospital was less than 100 meters away from their location, which was within the effective range of an assault rifle. Therefore, the bullets almost instantly flew and hit the Tyrant.
Bang, bang, bang…!
The bullets hit the Tyrant, and holes immediately appeared on its bloodied body. Damage values were popping up continuously over the top of its head!
However, when Harley's 30 rounds were all finished, the Tyrant's muscles immediately flexed, and the bleeding ceased from all its wounds. It looked irritated!
The Tyrant turned around to face Feng Luo and Captain Harley's direction and angrily stared at them with its dark red pupil. Then his legs hunkered down. Its body jerked, jumping straight off the four-story roof.
It jumped onto a street lamppost, grabbed it with its bare hands, and twisted the wood-covered steel lamppost into a ball.
Bam!
The Tyrant landed on the ground and swiftly charged in the direction of the cafe.
Along the way, all the obstacles on the road were knocked aside by his body. Even some tourists and residents who were escaping were caught by his claws and thrown more than ten meters away. They fell onto sharp corners, some cracking their heads, their brains flying all over the place.
 Mu Zi, Sister Rui! Come on, let's fight!"
As soon as Captain Harley started shooting at the Tyrant, Feng Luo knew the situation would be bad.
There was no other way. He knew that under the current situation, the best course of action was to leave Harley behind so the three of them could quickly escape, but when he thought about the fact that Harley could still be useful, Feng Luo just had to try fighting.
Feng Luo dropped his disguise as a tourist. After a shout, an M110 showed up in his hands.
Bang!

After the first shot, it took less than 0.1 seconds, and the flashy blue shield-breaking energy bullet hit the abdomen of the Tyrant running toward them. The bullet spun at high speed and shredded the monster's bare muscles, drilling a small, bowl-sized hole in his stomach. But the Tyrant felt nothing and was still charging toward the cafe.
Feng Luo kept on shooting.
Bang!

The second shot was more accurate, and the bullet landed directly in the hole produced by the last shot to the abdomen. The yellow-colored weak-point damage value increased by a lot. However, the Tyrant continued charging toward them at a high rate of speed, ignoring Feng Luo's shots.


As an international mercenary, Feng Luo entered a technologically advanced parallel world during a mission.

After living several years in the new world, an online sci-fi game called War became popular across the entire Star Federation.

Desert Eagles, Barrett, AK-47, Apache, RPG... One after another, familiar gears awakened his memories of the past!

Terminator, Zerg, Resident Evil, the Force,... The missions that appeared after a system update made him even more suspicious and shocked! As such, Feng Luo entered War and became a sniper.

Peeking a few years into the future, specifically around the time that a second story was intended to take place, Vahn was unsurprised to find that his Template had elected to take matters into his own hands. More specifically, he had used his status as one of the most powerful and influential voices within the Pangalactic Federation to make amendments to the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Pact. This allowed him to establish an organization that specialized in the research and observation of so-called Underdeveloped Civilizations, and, whenever anomalies were discovered, his team was uniquely equipped to deal with threats to the universe.
Though there was a significant amount of backlash in the early years, Vahn's Template, also known as Vahn, was eventually declared Hegemon of the Pangalactic Federation after establishing contact with one of the universe's oldest and most technologically overdeveloped civilizations, the Nedians. With their cooperation, he was able to, quite literally, prevent the destruction of the entire universe, and, as a result of his Guardianship over their final heiress, an adorable blue-haired girl named Rena Lanford, he was entrusted with nearly 700,000,000 years of data related to universe's development and every technological advancement the Nedians had ever made.
Seeing how successful his alternate self had become, Vahn couldn't help feeling just a little envious. It wasn't that he was wanting for things like power and beautiful women at his side. It was more so that he was envious of the 'stability' of their existence. His own life seemed exceedingly random at times, and, though he had a general understanding of the direction he was moving in, the goal he was reaching for was something beyond comprehension. Inversely, the Template he had created as his proxy in the Tri-Ace Anthology had a perfect understanding of the direction his life was heading, and, through a concerted effort, he was able to overthrow a plot more than four-billion-years in the making before ushering in an era of peace and stability that spanned nearly 1300 years.
While 1300 years might not seem like a long time, it was an astronomical amount considering he was the Hegemon of a Federation that spanned several galaxies and more than 60,000 'civilized' worlds. The longest era of peace prior to his reign was only eight years, as, whenever people made distinctions between 'civilized' and 'uncivilized', finding corruption was easier than finding grains of sand on a beach. It didn't help that there was no unified system of governance among the planets comprising the Pangalactic Federation, as, whenever someone tried to install such a government, they were bastardized as an autocrat or a tyrant by the powers pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
In the end, it took demonic creatures invading from another dimension to shatter the peace that had been wrought through Fellpool Vahn's efforts. This, in turn, led to the discovery that the entire universe had simply been a simulation created by higher-dimensional beings as a way for them to pass the time. This revelation led to widespread chaos throughout the Universe before Vahn and his allies, once again, fought to restore peace and establish peaceful coexistence between the 'Eternal Sphere', the name of their universal simulation, and the Fourth-Dimensional beings responsible for its creation.
Though he could have continued to rule as Hegemon, Fellpool Vahn took advantage of the fact that he had reached the end of his reality's established timeline to finally retire. In his place, he allowed the reality-spanning E.S.O.A.A, the system designed to monitor the Eternal Sphere, to manage, not just the Pangalactic Federation, but all civilizations within its sphere of influence. This led to quite a number of issues throughout the universe, but, with the threat of literal deletion hanging over their heads, most groups remained relatively reasonable in their opposition to Universal Governance. As for Vahn and his extended family, they became the bridge between the Eternal Sphere and Fourth-Dimensional Space, guaranteeing the preservation of the former while working with the people of the latter to uncover the truth of their own origin...

After what felt like an eternity, largely due to the fact he inherited the memories and experiences of his Templates, Vahn departed from his Internalized Realm to find himself relaxing comfortably in his own bed. This filled him with a momentary sense of incongruity, but, the moment he met the gazes of the noticeably fatigued Theo, Mira, and Lisanna, a natural smile spread across his face.
Returning a smile of her own, Mira deiced to ask what the other two were thinking, her voice filled with undertones of concern as she inquired, "How long were you gone?"
Though it wouldn't be inaccurate to say he was gone for a much longer period of time, Vahn placed a kiss atop Mira's head before answering, "Eight months..." in a whispering tone.
Meeting Vahn's gaze, Mira got the distinct impression he was hiding something, so, without beating around the bush, she asked, "How many?"
Confused by the contextless question, Vahn tilted his head to the side, the gears of his mind turning until Sis took pity on him and explained, (*She is asking about the number of women you picked up despite stating you were simply going to observe.*)
Since his Template had been created around the time of the first divergence of fate, Vahn wouldn't be lying if he said he hadn't picked up any new women during his time away. Unfortunately, as his Template had only developed a true Ego towards the end of the journey, it wasn't wrong to say he was the one in control. Thus, rather than avoid any responsibility in the matter, he answered, "Just one..." since, prior to his Template gaining independence, they had shared a number of experiences with the remarkably affectionate Pericci.
Hearing Vahn's response, Mira, Theo, and Lisanna all showed genuine surprise on their faces as the eldest of the two Strauss sisters asked, "Only one? That is a surprising amount of restraint coming from you...can you show us what she looks like?"
Though his smile became somewhat wry due to her rather biting remark, Vahn extended his palm to create a three-dimensional projection of Pericci prior to their separation. The moment the three girls saw her, a glimmer of enlightenment could be seen in their eyes as Lisanna casually remarked, "She looks a lot like Fenrir...albeit a lot more 'bubbly'..."
Nodding their heads in agreement, Mira and Theo continued to observe the scale-model of Pericci, the latter tilting her head to examine the projection's backside, musing, "Oh my..." with an amused glimmer in her eyes.
Shaking his head, Vahn's expression relaxed as he dissipated the projection and briefly recounted the events that had transpired within the Actualized World. This explanation was aided by the use of Memory Projection Spheres, and, though it took several hours, he could easily control the flow of time within the room to afford them ample opportunity to witness his exploits. This led to a number of questions regarding the relationship between his Template and several other female members of the verse, but, as he was no longer in control at that point, he couldn't be held accountable for his Fellpool counterpart's actions...

With most of his frustrations thoroughly vented, Vahn departed the Little Garden alongside Theo, Musashi, Scathach, and, of course, Index. His return brought back a few unpleasant memories, but, having gained an additional 1300 years of experience over the course of an eight-month period, he was no longer as affected by the tragedy that had resulted from Chung's depravity and boredom.
After taking a few minutes to collect himself and organize his thoughts, Vahn decided it would be prudent of him to return to the Quarantine Area and liberate those within. He could always restore their data at a later date, but, rather than risk something happening in the future, it was best to take action in the present. He knew from the Law of Identity's acquisition of Data Eduan's memories that the latter possessed the means to effectively format the entire Hidden Floor, so, before karma and fate could reveal their hands, Vahn wanted to eliminate as many concerning variables as possible.
To aid in this endeavor, Vahn had compiled the data pertaining to the Hidden Floor's residents into a Memory Fragment that was then uploaded to the Intelligence Nexus that had been jointly created by Urahara and Android 21 in accordance with Da Vinci's original design specifications for the Ark, Mother, and Shadow Systems. This allowed them to mass-produce Gigai, artificial bodies that were functionally identical to normal humans, that perfectly emulated the physical appearance and base specifications of everyone who had been adversely modified by Chung.
Though it would normally take several hours to create a single Gigai, Vahn's ability to freely control the flow of time within the Little Garden reduced the time taken to a completely negligible amount. This was one of the most heinous exploits made possible through the combination of his status as a Tier 5 and the master of the Little Garden. Using it, he could even cultivate various medicinal plants and other cultivation resources that would typically take tens-of-thousands of years to mature. This, in turn, afforded him the opportunity to generate functionally unlimited OP, as, with the exception of goods purchased directly from the system shop, anything grown naturally could be traded in at roughly 1/10th its original value.
While it wasn't the most cost-efficient way to generate Origin Points, primarily because he would never task anyone with watching over plants for tens of thousands of years at a time, the gardens of the Seventh Layer had become the primary source of Vahn's OP income. The only caveats were that many 'heavenly treasures', plants included, became sapient after a certain amount of time had passed. They also had a propensity for killing and consuming nearby treasures, so, without anyone to keep order, a number of magical beasts, some of which were farmed for OP, had taken residence within the Seventh Layer. This made it a pretty popular place for live combat training, as, thanks to the influence of the Law of Progress, the creatures within grew powerful at an exponential rate...

Though he was quite accustomed to waiting, Yu Hansung was beginning to feel a little impatient after coming to learn that an Irregular different from the one he had anticipated had arrived on the Hidden Floor. To make matters even worse, the Irregular had freely trespassed the Quarantine Area to seek him out; and, according to the residents of the Seed, he had even greater authority over the Hidden Floor's systems than the Big Breeders selected to manage it.
Lamenting the lack of coffee within the Quarantine Area, Yu Hansung exhaled a troubled sigh as he vexatiously watched the bridge connecting the Seed to the larger structure of the Fruit of Good and Evil. He wanted to witness how the man named Vahn entered the area for himself, as, according to the reports of Batis and other trustworthy sources, the former had allegedly appeared out of thin air before disappearing in much the same manner. If this was true, it meant they could finally leave the Quarantine Area, as, according to the same sources, there had been several other people traveling alongside the presumed Irregular.
As if machinated by fate, a strange ripple appeared the moment this thought crossed Yu Hansung's mind. From within, a handsome man with windswept brown hair, energetic green eyes, and tanned skin emerged alongside two uncannily similar individuals. At a glance, the trio could be mistaken for triplets, but, with a few small variations in their facial structure, hairstyles, and choice of clothing, it was hard to be certain. The only thing Yu Hansung knew with absolute certainty was that they had the exact same eye pigment, and, as far as he could tell, power levels that were completely off the charts...

(A/N: It is no secret on the Discord server, but I've been severely ill for the past month or so. This has given me a lot of time to think about what I'm doing with both my life and the novel. As I have stated in the past, EPIC was always intended to be practice. To that end, I intend to continue writing until the story reaches a natural conclusion and all its central mechanics have been expanded upon. At the same time, however, I need to begin seriously considering my personal wellness and financial situation. I have neither a car nor health insurance, so, even when I could barely move around, I had little choice but to tough it out. Fortunately, writing doesn't require me to physically exert myself or leave my apartment. Had I been working full or part-time, I imagine I would have been in a similar situation as many of my fellow Americans. To that end, I am truly grateful for the support everyone has given me thus far. Unfortunately, this is also where a problem presents itself. Everyone is facing trying times these days, and, were it not for the benevolence of a few kind souls, I would probably be completely broke right now. Fortunately, someone was kind enough to contribute a $640 Path-level donation on my *******, but, as a result, several others also reduced their pledges. Now, I'm roughly $300-400 dollars beneath the level that was previously supporting me. If things continue at this rate, I might be forced to do other work just to be able to get by. This, however, would put EPIC at risk, so, despite some serious concerns from my parents and friends, I've decided to just say 'fuck it' and go all-in on writing. To that effect, I will be doing my best to release three chapters Sat-Thur. At the same time, I intend to start writing on an offshoot called 'EPIC Side Stories' that will only be made available on my *******. I don't have the heart to hold actual EPIC chapters hostage, so, in the hopes of improving my situation, I will be holding polls to allow the community to decide what the side stories pertain to. Examples include things like: the events that had taken place in the Tri-Ace Anthology, NSFW scenes between various characters, and anything else EPIC-related. If you are interested in being a part of the community and quite literally helping me survive, I will be making all side-stories available for a single dollar. For those who think this is unfair, know that I intend to make all side-stories public once EPIC has finished. I am forced into this situation by circumstance, and I hope this decision hasn't offended anyone. You all are what make EPIC possible, and, were it not for the support of many amazing individuals, I might not even be here right now. Vahn was an atypical youth. Due to a rare mutation, his blood had the potential to target and attack ailments within the human body. Touted as a universal cure, people had elevated his status above the norm and given him the classification "Panacea". In the media, he was hailed as a great hero who would usher in a new era or human wellness. However, behind the scenes things weren't so bright. Being a unique individual, Vahn spent his entire youth locked up in a lab with various scientists and research teams using his body and blood to perform endless amounts of experiments. The only solace in his suffering was the various anime and manga made available to him between experiments. He often imagined himself as the protagonist in a world of his own, finally in control of his own destiny. For years he nurtured this desire, until at the age of 14 he died when an organization had tried to kidnap him from the lab...

"Finally, I don't have to suffer anymore..."

This was Vahn's last thought as he faded into the endless black abyss...

"You poor soul."

"What… are haemorrhoids?" Leng'Er asked with a confused look.
"Haemorrhoids are… hmm… ah… they're not good. Leng'Er will know after she grows up," Ling Chen said helplessly while scratching his head. "Alright, forget about that one. I'll tell you a different fable. This one's called… The Old Man Who Moved A Mountain!
"The story goes like this: there was a man named Yu Gong. There were 2 large mountains in front of his house, making it so that his house never had any sunlight. As such, he started moving rocks every day to move those 2 mountains away. An old man called Zhi Sou laughed at him and said, 'You idiot, these 2 mountains are too big. You'll never be able to finish moving them.' In response, Yu Gong said, 'After I die, there's still my son, and after my son, there's still my grandson. I'll have an innumerable number of descendants, who will one day move the 2 mountains away.' This matter was spread quite far away until the Emperor of Heaven heard it. The Emperor of Heaven was very touched, so he sent Sola Aoi, Sakura Ria, Yui Hatano, Hime Kamiya, Maria Ozawa, Azusa Yamamoto, Yui Seto… and other 'goddesses' to help Yu Gong give birth to descendants… the next day, the old man Zhi Sou also started to move rocks…"

"This fable tells us that no matter what we do, we should be determined and resolute. Only by being determined will we have victory and hope, as well as the love of goddesses," Ling Chen said in a deep tone.
Leng'Er still looked incredibly confused, and she said in a small voice, "Those goddesses… all have such strange names… why did they help Yu Gong have descendants?"
"Err… this… that…" Ling Chen sighed. It seemed that this fable was still too deep and wasn't understandable by kids. It seemed that he couldn't keep reading that book of fable stories. Wait, that book of fable stories seemed to be called… 'Adult Fables'. He should probably throw it away as soon as he got home.
"Leng'Er will also need to grow up to understand that one," Ling Chen said in a complicated tone.
"Fable stories aren't fun at all." Leng'Er shook her head in dissatisfaction. "I don't want to listen to fables anymore. Can master tell me a better story?"
A better story… A better story… Ling Chen gripped his hair as he gnashed his teeth. He had spent his younger years in a dim world, and he didn't know many stories. He had already told her all the ones he knew about. The book he read most recently was the 'Adult Fables', and he had enjoyed it immensely. However, now that he thought about it, it wasn't very suitable for kids.
Ling Chen's eyes suddenly lit up as he smiled at Leng'Er. "Alright, I won't tell Leng'Er anymore fable stories then. How about an 'epic���?"
"An… epic?"
"That's right. They're usually quite long, and they take a few days to be told. They're much better than stories that are told very quickly," Ling Chen said confidently as he patted his chest. "This story is called 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms'. I'm sure Leng'Er will like this story."
In his younger years, Ling Chen did not have any close relatives, and all of the stories that Ling Chen knew were from Xuanyuan Dia Wu. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms was the first epic that Xuanyuan Dia Wu had told Ling Chen. Although she was quite young at the time, she was incredibly intelligent and had a shocking memory. She told the entirety of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms to Ling Chen perfectly. That story, full of its ups and downs, moving moments, and intense scenes and grandeur, was firmly imprinted in Ling Chen's mind, and he could now even remember every character and event.
It would take him quite a long period of time to tell Leng'Er the entire story.
Leng'Er lightly nodded and came closer to Ling Chen. Her snow-white hands were hugging the doll in front of her chest, and her face rested against the doll as she silently listened to Ling Chen talk.
"This is how the story began. A long time ago, there was a dynasty called the Eastern Han Dynasty. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a useless emperor called Emperor Ling of Han, who caused the Yellow Turban Rebellion, sending the country into chaos…"

2 days passed…
3 days passed…
The distance between the place Ling Chen was first transported to in the Underworld and the Underworld Royal City was 500 to 600 kilometres. With Snow Cherry's Movement Speed and the fact that they could avoid all of the Undead on the ground, they should have arrived within 2 days. However, because the light in the Underworld was quite dim and the ground was covered by a grey fog, it made it difficult to navigate and greatly reduced their speed. Moreover, after Ling Chen started telling Leng'Er the story of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, she was completely hooked, and she would ask him to continue telling her the story whenever he logged on. If he stopped for even a bit, she would pout, looking incredibly wronged… as such, Ling Chen would spend almost all of his time telling the story to her. Often, he would lose himself in the story-telling, and when he came back to his senses and called out Xiao Hui to point out the way, he would find out that they had been off by 90 degrees or so and sometimes have to completely turn around!
Under these circumstances, Ling Chen finally reached the Underworld's central region after 3 days, and he went closer and closer to the Underworld Royal City.
As Ling Chen flew from the north-east to the centre of the Underworld, Ling Chen felt that the more towards the south-west they flew, they hotter it became. In the north-east, the air was quite cold and sinister, but here the air felt slightly hot. What made Ling Chen quite confused was that Undead didn't normally like 'hot' environments. Ling Chen looked towards the west and found that the sky towards the west was covered with a faint red glow. Although it was mostly covered by the deathly grey aura of the Underworld, Ling Chen's eyes were perceptive enough to pick up on it.
However, the confusion within Ling Chen's heart did not affect his storytelling. "After Zhao Zi Long battled ruthlessly in the Battle of Changban, he successfully broke through the encirclement with fatty Liu. When he reached the bridge, he ran into Zhang Yi De, who yelled out, 'Zi Long, hurry and go! Leave the rest to me'… after Zhao Zi Long safely left, Zhang Yi De mightily stood in front of the bridge, facing Cao Cao's million-man army by himself. When Cao Cao's army came to the bridge, Zhang Yi De wielded his viper halberd as he roared, 'Yan Country's Zhang Fei is here. Who dares to come and fight to the death?' His voice was as loud as thunder, causing the wooden bridge to crumble and the water to flow the opposite way. Cao Cao was so scared that he turned and ran, while Xiahou Jie was so scared that he fell off his horse and died. The million-man army subsequently turned around and fled in terror…"
Ling Chen's narrative paused there because he saw a gigantic figure giving off immense pressure through the grey fog.
The Underworld Royal City!
Ling Chen's mind instantly felt refreshed. After travelling for 2 and a half days, he had finally reached the central city of the Underworld. Reaching this place meant that he was incredibly close to his final destination: The Underworld Blood Lake!
"And then… And then…" Leng'Er, who was left at a cliff-hanger, wasn't happy that Ling Chen had suddenly stopped, and she shook his arm as she tried to get him to continue.
Now that they were so close to the Underworld Royal City, Ling Chen was no longer in the mood to tell Leng'Er stories, so he casually finished, "Then… Then because Zhang Yi De purposefully destroyed public property, he was restrained by the public security bureau. Mm, that's the end of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It was good, right? Ahhh… Leng'Er, look, there's a city over there!"
Leng'Er's eyes instantly started becoming red.
Ling Chen hurriedly waved his hands as he tried to salvage the situation, "Don't be angry, Leng'Er, don't be angry. I was just joking just then… there's still a lot left of the story, and the ending definitely wasn't like that. I'll keep telling Leng'Er the story tomorrow, okay? We need to do something important today."
However, Leng'Er was quite obedient and well-behaved. She didn't continue nagging Ling Chen to tell her the story, but she instead turned and looked towards the Underworld Royal City. While silent, her dark eyes started to become hazy.
She felt that within her half-spirit body something started to jump and beat.
The Underworld Royal City was the Underworld's central city, similar to the Forgotten Continent's Forgotten City. However, although it was the central city, the Underworld Royal City was also quite rundown and didn't have the splendour of a capital city. Instead, it only gave a feeling of gloominess and suppression. Standing quite far away from the entrance, Ling Chen saw Undead Warriors standing guard. The Underworld was a secret place in the Mystic Moon world, and it wasn't somewhere players could casually go. He had only been able to easily enter because of Leng'Er.
Since he had come, he should at least take a look around the Underworld Royal City – perhaps he could receive some sort of hidden quest and get something that he couldn't obtain in the outside world. However, the Underworld Royal City was where the high-level Undead gathered. They all had powerful Undead energy and intelligence that was no less inferior than normal humans. Ling Chen was a player, and while his aura of life would not be detected in low-level places, this was the Royal City filled with high-level Undead, so Ling Chen wasn't completely confident that he wouldn't be discovered.
Once it was discovered that he was a living human, the consequences were easily imaginable.
After thinking about it for a while, Ling Chen ultimately decided to pass on entering the Underworld Royal City and took to the skies once again, flying towards the Underworld Blood Lake… his goal was to go to the Underworld Blood Lake to find an Orb, not to adventure around. It was better safe than sorry.
The Underworld Blood Lake was north of the Underworld Royal City, and it was less than 10 kilometres away from the Underworld Royal City's northern gate. However, Ling Chen had no idea just what the Underworld Blood Lake looked like. As such, Ling Chen could only fly slowly and look down, searching for the Underworld Blood Lake.
As he flew further and further from the Underworld Royal City, there were less and less Undead. After about 15 minutes, a single high-level Undead Warrior unhurriedly walked past below Ling Chen. Ling Chen's eyebrows jumped as he quickly descended and landed in front of the Undead Warrior, giving him a big fright. The Undead Warrior subconsciously leapt back, and at that moment, Ling Chen's eyes flashed, activating a [Deity Curse].
"Ding… the Libra Orb's effects have been activated, [Deity Curse]'s cooldown time has been reset."

I love stories,  and this is one of the stories which I have grown up listening to.
(I do not own this story as it is one of the major Hindu epics) 
Each region in India has its own version of it, I have listened and read almost all of them. 
The story which I am writing hear is my own understanding and compilation of all the different versions of the same story. 
The story which you are about to read is as the title says "MAHABHARAT: Through my eyes" so I am sorry to the people who are offended and I deeply apologize to them. I will try to keep this story as neutral as possible and not put my biases in the story. 
I am simply a narrator.

I am writing this story for the people who are unaware about this of have some misconceptions of the mythological epic. 
Whenever there is a requirement of extra knowledge of gods or some uncommon objects of places I might go on a tangent. 
I will  be using some sanskrit and hindi words so please bear with it.

So without further ado let's start with the story

This is my version of events of  an Indian epic Mahabharat. 
This story down to its core is about brothers fighting and killing each other over property, but there are immortals, magic weapons, grate warriors, sages, curses, gods, demons davas and much more.

This is my first time writing and I have not found my style of writing yet so I might experiment a bit so sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of this earlier as most my stories are basically Fantasy with a capital F so let me get right into it. What separates 'Fantasy' from 'Contemporary' works isn't just where it's set but also the level of contrivances that are allowed.

As I've said before, every story allows a certain level of contrived scenarios where Destiny and Fate are actually a thing. Fantasy stories in particular work best when you go all in on your imagination.

I know you all have had it drilled into your brains that a certain level of 'realism' is needed even in a fantasy story. However, what most mean by that isn't adding the laws of physics to your story but keeping it internally consistent with clear laws and limits.

I'm pretty sure you guys don't need a rundown in how society works because fantasy societies work the same way expect they have the word 'Magic' added to them. Do NOT rip off Elves and Dwarves from the Lord of the Rings and flex the creative muscles in your brain a little. There's no limit to the kind of magical races you can make in a Fantasy!

This also applies to magic. However, people only remember limitations more than what a persons using Magic System can generally do since 'magic is omnipotent unless proven otherwise'. There will be no narrative stakes or tension if you can't even make sure random nobodies aren't shooting off nukes and your main character isn't invincible beyond measure.

There are people who tend to overthink about how to write Fantasy since it's such a popular genre everyone and their dog is writing. You don't need someone else's guideline to write a Fantasy since most good Author's base them out of existing literature of the past or modern ones they are retelling using their own tropes and characters.

You'll never get anywhere if you need someone else to flex your creativity when looking into the past brings forth many mystical stories and myths that all wouldn't be possible without a little bit of magic sprinkled onto them. The classic LitRPG genre with stuff like Guilds and Adventures is popular to use nowadays but only because you don't have to explain much in a story that's so easy to figure out.

If you're going to use the LitRPG setting with dungeons and dragons, make sure you make it character driven and focus on people rather than explaining how fireballs work. The only reason Slime Reincarnation (That Time I Reincarnating As A Slime) or Sword Dad (I Was A Sword When I Reincarnated) are so popular is because behind the Power Fantasy are well-written and diverse characters.

If you want to write your own Fantasy World unique to only you, then it's best to start researching ways to ground it with your audience. These days people want to read about 'people' more than someone dumping lore about a fictional world they don't care about. Even pure Fantasy stories needs a protagonist that can be the reader's eyes and ears.

Now, thanks to the Isekai Boom, you may think that a main character HAS to be reincarnated for basically no reason whatsoever. However, that is ill-advised as people reincarnated for trivial reasons bore the audience to death. There's this Fantasy story about this non-reincarnated girl who was raised by Death himself in a regular medieval magic world, causing her to be a mix of creepy and cute all at the same time. This is an example of the kind of plots which are interesting BECAUSE their MC is a member of this world but special rather than some random guy from Earth who just so happens to be Isekai'd.

Isekai can be done right when the main character's rebirth or transportation into this world holds some sort of meaning. However, it can turn into a very boring story with maybe one or two gimmicks if you aren't even thinking of an ending for it.

Getting back to the main point: You seriously won't be able to write a Fantasy properly unless you at least know something about characters (If you haven't already figured that out already).

How the life of this character, under the special upbringing that only those of your Fantasy World go through, is interesting to the reader depends of where you take the tropes of your regular Fantasy.

You can go the 'Epic Fantasy' route, then copying the Hero's Journey is fine as long as you switch it up a bit. As long as you understand the fundamentals of a Hero's Journey and not look at it as the ONLY WAY TO TELL A STORY then you're on the right track.

Those who are wondering what a Hero's Journey is can find the link at the bottom. Also try searching for Dan Harmon's Story Circle for a more character driven version of it on YouTube. Anyway, this trope is basically the origin of the whole 'Chosen One' trope.

As for what I meant by Epic Fantasy, it is actually quite beloved type of story for many who love the Fantasy genre. It could be about the journey about a chosen one destined to defeat a Big Baddy like Eragon, Lord of the Rings, etc. There are even shorter and more simplified versions of this which is basically where the 'Hero Vs Demon King' trope came from. As long as there's a quest fraught with danger then people would love to read about a chosen one being able to win against their foes.

Another route you can take is Dark Fantasy, where all the lovely tales of HP Lovecraft comes from. His stories may lean more on the spectrum of supernatural tales about Dark Gods and Cults but the way everything seems to be ripped out of a nightmare is what I'm trying to focus on. If a regular Fantasy is like a dream then a Dark Fantasy is one you'd rather avoid since the world is screwed up.

And I don't mean the characters are screwed up or insane by any means, I literally mean either the Magic System or how society works is genuinely screwed up. Read 'Dungeon Seeker' as an example of this (Warning: Don't read it if you don't want to pollute your innocent mind with all the corruption in this story). Either way, it could be the Magic System relies on the blood of orphans, or it could be you have to kill a loved every time you cast a spell. The main point is that this Fantasy World is just hell.

Now, I could move on to Urban Fantasy and other sub-genres, but that would be wasting my time and yours since TV Tropes exists for a reason. Just remember what I've said and have a clear goal in beginning and end planned for your character's development and you'll be fine. There's nothing better than a story that's focused after all.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.
