Lu Zhou briefly looked at the operating system that the artificial intelligence gave him.
Honestly speaking, he was a little disappointed.
The operation method was similar to a Linux desktop distribution. The only advantage was that it was compatible with both Windows and Linux software. It could be operated by using a mouse or by inputting command lines into the dialog box in the center of the screen.
In terms of internet access, it had a built-in unknown browser. It could browse the web and download software and there was no difference from a Windows operating system. 
The shortcoming of this operating system was that it was simply too big. It took up 1TB of disk space and it nearly filled up Lu Zhou's entire laptop!
After all this, Lu Zhou still did not understand what was the use of this thing.
It seemed that there was another dialog box on the lower right corner. It looked like a chat box for "Xiao Ai".
It seemed like one of those pets you talked to on QQ. 
However, Xiao Ai's intelligence worried Lu Zhou. He had briefly tested it and commanded it using a simple language. He asked her to open a computer folder and run a program. Without any problems, it could even auto-completed the program he was typing.
However, these operations could be done by entering command lines and so, it seemed kind of useless.
As for normal conversations, Xiao Ai could only say hello. When it came to difficult sentences, it would often ask, "What does XXX mean?"
It was like a little baby learning how to talk. 
However, it was better than a baby. He would only have to explain to it one time for it to understand and it would never forget anything.
Lu Zhou had not discovered other uses, at least not now. 
As he leaned against the wall behind him, he sighed and thought, "Is the so-called level one artificial intelligence just this? I guess I have to wait for level 2."
It was a lot worse than Google's DisBelief and it was even worse compared to the Deep Blue program from a decade ago. 
Of course, Lu Zhou knew that it was unfair. The former had thousands of servers for support and it basically ran on a supercomputer. The computing power could not be compared to his laptop. 
It was like a person. No matter how logical they were, if they did not have enough brain cells they would still be a retard. 
Emm…
Right now, Xiao Ai was no different than a retard. 
He could only wait to change a better "brain" for it. For example, a server or something. 
However, that was still far away. The laptop could handle level 1 Xiao Ai and he could wait until level 2 before he should upgrade the hardware. 
Lu Zhou sat cross-legged on the bed as he began to study the methods of upgrading the artificial intelligence. 
Simply speaking, he had two paths.
One path was by using general points. The exchange rate between general points and the technology branch experience points was 1:1. 
The other way was by relying on Xiao Ai to do machine learning while he slowly accumulated the experience points needed for Xiao Ai to upgrade. 
Xiao Ai seemed to have a certain level of self-learning ability. Lu Zhou just had to allocate some computing power to self-learning and the program would automatically increase its "intelligence progress bar". 
According to instructions given by Xiao Ai, when the progress bar was filled once, the artificial intelligence technology branch experience would increase by 100. 
Which was saying, if he allocated all the computing power to self-learning and waited for the progress bar to be filled ten times, his technology branch would be upgraded. 
What a slow upgrading method…
Lu Zhou stared at the screen for a while. He could not even see the progress bar moving. 
"A 20,000 yuan computer isn't enough for this thing? Xiao Ai needs so much computing power…" Lu Zhou could not help but complain about the situation. 
If he had just left it alone, it would take forever to progress.
If Lu Zhou was not worried about the program leaking or causing unpredictable consequences, he would have uploaded it onto Alibaba's cloud server.
For the time being, he had to rely on his AFK method. 
I should study two books on machine learning to see if there are any shortcuts. This way, maybe I can increase the speed of Xiao Ai. 
Just in case someone tried to open his computer, he set a password for artificial intelligence Xiao Ai.
Lu Zhou did all this before he left the laptop on his bed. Once he was done packing his stuff, he put his backpack on and left the dorm. 
It was the last training session for the National Mathematical Modeling Competition and Professor Liu had some important words to say. They were mainly competition regulations, rules, and some other matters that needed attention. 
It was the last training session and Lin Yuxiang came quite timely. Not only did she not arrive late, but she was also the first one there. Wang Xiaodong was in the computer room, figuring out his timetable, so he was slightly late. 
Apparently, the genius had already finished half of the third year subjects in his second year. Other people were still selecting their majors while he was already preparing for graduation. 
After everyone arrived, Professor Liu smiled and walked onto the podium. 
"You guys aren't little kids anymore and so, I won't emphasize on safety issues. I'll briefly talk about the rules of the competition and some things to be aware of."
"The competition has a time period of 72 hours and the requirement is to submit the completed thesis within that time. You guys will be staying up late so I suggest you get a good night's sleep the day before. From my past experience, the person responsible for modeling and writing the thesis can only sleep on the second night. The person coding can't sleep on the second night and can only sleep a few hours in the third night. You guys have to cooperate with your teammates and complete the thesis."
"Modeling, coding, thesis writing. Every single one of those three is important. I've talked about this already so I won't repeat myself."
"The other problem is discipline. During the time frame of the competition, the teams are forbidden to communicate with other teams and the contestants are also forbidden to communicate with teachers. You can use the Internet to download or look at materials, but you cannot message anyone." 
In reality, this rule was not strictly enforced. Some weaker teams would get their teacher to look over the materials but none of them would directly get the teacher to do the question. Good schools had honest teachers but some bad schools…
The teachers might have been worse than the students. 
That statement was no exaggeration. Teaching and doing it yourself were two different things. After all, the coverage area and randomness of the mathematical model was too big. Even professors could not do everything.
"Teacher, what if I searched for answers on Baidu?" asked Lin Yuxiang with her hand raised.
Teacher Liu laughed and he said, "You can try, see if you find anything."
When Lu Zhou heard her, he laughed in his heart.
Anyone that asked that question was someone that knew nothing about mathematical modeling. Not only that they had not experienced the feelings of being dominated by those insanely hard questions, they thought this was similar to Olympic maths when it was nothing like it. 
If a person was given a customer data for a telecommunications company and asked to design products for different customers according to the requirements, where would the person go and search for the answer? Some of the questions were related to the competition's sponsors. If the model that was designed was good enough, the sponsors might just take it and use it. There were no answers for the person to search for. 
Lin Yuxiang's face was slightly red with embarrassment as she pulled down her right hand in. 
Teacher Liu paused for a second before continuing, "The other problem is the team leader. There is no requirement for one. Our school has always secretly acknowledged the first name on the prize list as the captain. But this is just a false title. It doesn't mean anything. According to previous competitions, the captain is generally held by the person writing the thesis and is responsible for integrating the teammates together. However, you can also set the captain according to your year. What do you guys think?"
Wang Xiaodong pushed his glasses, "Just make it Lu Zhou, I don't care."
Lin Yuxiang was holding her thighs and she nodded. Naturally, she did not have any opinions.
"What do you think?" asked Professor Liu as he looked at Lu Zhou and smiled.
"I… don't have an opinion."
The two teammates trusted Lu Zhou so much, it would seem insincere if he rejected and so, he simply agreed. 
Professor Liu smiled and nodded his head as he continued to speak.
"When the time comes, the school will arrange a school bus to send you guys to the old school where a temporary accommodation will be arranged for you."
"Finally, remember to ask for a permission slip from your instructor and clearly write down the reason for your absence. As for the lectures missed during the competition, you guys will have to think of a way to make up for it." 
"Ask me if you have any questions. If not, you guys can leave."

"You just waste your time on that stupid laptop, playing games ..sigh.. Your mom said you were making some game? What's this all about? "

"Dad, I already told you. I want to be a game designer. I want to make games."

"You idiot! Is that even a proper job? Who's gonna pay you for making stupid video games that only kids play? You are not a kid anymore. Grow up! There is no scope for that stuff in our country. You should pick something that has some scope in Nepal. I am telling this for the last time there is only a single month before your exams start. Study hard and score at least 70% in the upcoming exams or else you can just leave thoughts of studying any further and find work."

Saying this, Shuvam's dad stormed out of the room, leaving behind Shuvam in red misty eyes.

Hearing what his dad said, Shuvam crashed into his bed and started sobbing."sob..sob…why…why…did this happen? Why can't they…sob..sob..understand?"

His phone vibrated. He knew that he had received a message. He wiped his ' About to flow out ' tears from his misty eyes and checked his message.

The message came from some unknown source. There was no name or number of the sender, just the message. The message was - ' Mr. Shuvam, You have been selected as the winner of our lucky draw competition. You will be emailed a link to download a software which will be helping you in your life to achieve your goals for free. Install the software and your life shall change. '

' Huh ? I didn't participate in any lucky draw. How did I win? They even know my name and contact. ', he thought.

' Maybe I participated in something and forgot, I guess. Let's check what this is. It would be really good if it could really help me achieve my goals. Haha What am I thinking? A software making me a game designer. ', he thought.

He was smiling and hadn't realized that streams of tears were flowing from both his eyes. He realized he was crying and quickly wiped those tears. He got up from his bed and sat on the chair nearby and opened his laptop which was placed on the desk in front of him.

It was an old low spec laptop but it was enough for him to play some games and use older versions of unity to try game developing. This laptop was gifted to him by his cousin who was in U.S. It was old, bulky and even occasionally leaked electricity from its metal casing. But for Shuvam, this laptop was his life.

He had connected a keyboard and a mouse onto the computer because few of the inbuilt keyboard keys were not working and he didn't like using the touchpad. He input the password of the laptop and took out his cellphone simultaneously. He didn't have an internet connection at home so he had to use data plans along with the hotspot option of his mobile to be able to use internet on his laptop.

He used NRs  20 to get a data plan which allowed him to used unlimited data for a hour. He checked his gmail and quickly found the link to download the software. He clicked on the link and a setup file of 600 megabytes started downloading. The average download speed in his current network was about 500-600 kbps. It took about 30 minutes to download the software. He had been watching videos on YouTube which had considerably slowed the download speed which resulted in taking longer time to download.  (1$ = about NRs 105)

After the setup file finished download, he opened the file and his whole screen was engulfed in darkness. Suddenly, a timer was shown on the screen with the same black screen in the background. The timer showed 25 days remaining. Shuvam thought he had seen it wrong due to his still somewhat musty eyes. He rubbed his eyes and looked again and was shocked to see that it really did show 25 days remaining. He removed his laptop battery and placed it again and opened his laptop again in hopes of terminating the setup process. 

The laptop opened again but it directly took him to the timer screen. He repeated the process for a few times and suspected that the screen didn't go away but the timer was moving even after his laptop was shut down. It was already late at night (11pm) so he shut the computer down and went to sleep. He wanted to know for sure if the installation process would carry on or not.

Next day, he woke up at 8 Am. He brushed his teeth, had his breakfast. His dad was on his morning walk and his mom and brother had already went to school. His brother was a student and his mom was a teacher at the same school. He opened the laptop and found out that his suspicion was correct. Even though the laptop was turned off, the installation process was going on.

He decided to wait for the installation to finish and shut the computer down. He went ahead and read novels on qidian till 12:00 and went to sleep at 12:30 because his mom  and brother would be home at 1:00 .

The next few weeks went by in similar manner. It was finally time when the installation would be finished. He was really looking forward to it. He wanted to know what this mysterious software was and the fact that if it could really help him achieve his goals or not. He opened the laptop, the timer showed that there were 4 minutes remaining till the completion of the installation of the software.

After the installation completed, the laptop restarted. He put in the password of the laptop and was eager to see what was installed. He saw that all the  software shortcuts on the desktop were the already installed ones. There was no new software installed. He opened the program files and searched for any new folders. One should know that Shuvam really loved computers and computer games. So he pretty much knew  the names of all the folder in program files. He didn't find any new folder and was disappointed in his heart.

' Maybe I expected too much from my life ', he thought and laughed at himself and his pitiful state.

Suddenly, a robotic thingy appeared on his screen. It had a rectangular body and stringy hands and legs. " Hi Shuvam.", it said. Shuvam was scared. This thing, a thing on his computer that seemed like it was walking in the background of his computer screen was talking to him. 

"Hi", he said stiffly.

Shuvam got an software that is an amazing piece of tech. See how he uses it to make his career as an anonymous game developer who is known for for making the most complexed games of uncrackable nature.

When Ting attempted to open the door. He found out that he couldn't and Ling Zhou's voice sounded again.

"Unlock The Hallway - 1000 System Credits" Ling Zhou notified.

"Unlock the hallway?" Ting repeated, he thought for a moment and figured it out. He will need system credits to expand his own pocket world. 

He can only make this assumption. Whether or not he could expand his world to the size of a small city was unknown to him. He didn't know if he could change anything or everything was already pre-set and all he could do was purchase the new area without being able to customize the expansions he buys.

It was like buying a new DLC (Downloadable Content) every time Ting purchases a new area, he didn't need the expansion but it was extra content in the DLC sense. 

Just like DLCs, you don't need them to play the game. In Ting's case, he didn't need it, and he could also choose not to expand anything.

But for Ting, he wanted to explore more of this world of his. He wanted to know what the limits are. Are animals able to live here? Ting kept these questions floating around inside his head. Right now Ting was really curious.

He decided to spend his hard-earned System credits over a measly hallway that he hasn't seen yet.

["Do you wish to purchase the hallway?"] Ling Zhou's voice sounded.

"Yes please, Zhou" Ting confirmed his decision in his head.

After Ting confirmed it, he didn't hear anything that indicated that anything had changed. But Ting knew that he bought an expansion to his pocket world.

Right now his pocket world only consisted of one room the size around 15 square meters. With a computer setup for hacking and sufficient lighting for long-term computer use. What he doesn't see is where the vending machine is.

Ting then attempted to open the door once again. Instead of being unable to unlock the door, he was now able to open the door. 

Now walking through the door he entered the hallway. The hallway's walls were a tint of grey, the color was very gentle to his eyes.

Walking out he found out that his room was at the end of the hallway. So the moment he opened the door he was greeted by a long hall straight in front of him.

There was a window on his left but instead of seeing the sun and the environment, all he saw was black fog floating around. It was very misty and spooky.

There were a couple of doors when he looked at the hall. Doors were all on his right since he thought that if he were to expand until he could see the outside environment.

Then instead of black fog, it would be a window for him to look out of. Ting walked to the window and looked out again. Ting imagined how it might look when he expands this place until it was like he was in a city.

Wouldn't this mean he will get a city that belonged to only him? Ting felt excited he felt more motivation to expand this pocket world into a place where he could relax and perhaps he would be able to bring people here.

However, that would be highly unlikely unless he wants other people to find out that he had some logic destroying ability. Unfortunately, Ting wouldn't know if he could bring people here unless he tried.

Ting had these thoughts stuck in his head. He walked towards one of the doors and placed his hand on the golden floor doorknob.

As he already knew, he couldn't open the door, he could hear Ling Zhou's voice again prompting him the options on this room expansion.

Ting was surprised that he could decide what the room could be. This was a big revelation for him. It meant that he could decide what goes where. It was like him playing a city builder game except he started from a small room inside of going straight to putting down roads.

"Ling Zhou, what is the custom option?" Ting wanted to know what exactly this custom option was.

"You customize the space that is there. An example would be putting specific items or how you want the room to be. The cost will depend on specifically what you choose to have." She explained.

"That's great I can choose whatever I want. Unfortunately, the cost might be high depending on what I want." Ting felt the need to find a way to obtain a lot more System credits.

"Ling Zhou, please tell me a way to earn System credits quickly," Ting asked his assistant. He wanted to quickly earn more System credits to expand his own world.

"There are multiple ways to earn System credits. Here are a few ways." Ling Zhou replied as a holographic screen appeared before Ting.

"These are some of the ways you can earn System credits a bit faster than other methods." Ling Zhou informed him that this was not all the ways to earn System credits.

"I think the easiest right now is the third one. Ling Zhou, please give me more info on the third option please."

"As you wish." She replied.

"For every 1000 people that download your software, you will be awarded 10 System Credits. The software could be anything besides photos it. It needs to be some software or game." She shared more information about this method of earning System credits.

"1000 Downloads for 10 System Credits?" That is literally very slow! "Wait..." Ting thought for a moment and realized if it was too high then it would be very easy to earn them. In addition to this, all he needed to do was let people download his software.

He didn't need to spend any time it was like earning money relaxing something like Bill Gates sitting at home making a ton of money per second.

Thinking about it again, he realized that shouldn't he be earning some System Credits right now. He checked his system main menu and saw that his system credits were slowly increasing.

He didn't notice this before most likely because there were only a few people downloading his mobile game. 

He thought about how he was also earning money from the people buying his game. He felt excited by the fact that he was getting System credits and money at the same time.

When he was deciding on what his next move would be, he suddenly felt that there was something watching him.

He turned around and didn't find anything. "Maybe it was my imagination." Ting thought as he forgot what he was thinking about.

But unknown to him he was right as the figure disappeared into the dark black mist.

"Lulu, what are you doing?" Wang Xinran suddenly hugged her best friend from behind and giggled as she drew her face closer to the phone.
"Stop, stop, I’m playing Hearthstone." Chen Lulu concentrated on the screen; she was a typical gamer girl.
"Eh? That’s boring. Wait, I heard that Android can’t play Hearthstone." Wang Xinran curiously said as she recalled.
"Hehe, this is where you don’t understand. After I finish this game, I’ll show you my adorable Little White." With a conceited smile at the opponent’s disappointed voice saying <You defeated me>, she delightfully stretched.
"Am I not amazing at Hearthstone?" Chen Lulu raised her eyebrows as she said proudly.
"I don’t play the game." Wang Xinran pouted but then returned to her previous question. "Tell me, how did you play an iOS game on Android?"
Rather than Hearthstone, she was more interested in this. As a media major student and the producer of Wanghai University’s campus news team, she sensed a scoop from this interesting discovery.
"Wait, wait. Boom! Look, my Little White." Chen Lulu comforted this short-tempered best friend and revealed her "baby."
"What is this? A digital pet?" Wang Xinran sighed. She never had an interest in these phone games, but the chubby robot did look adorable.
"Try talking with him," Chen Lulu said mysteriously.
Wang Xinran blanked out before she looked at her friend with confusion.
Chen Lulu seemed to expect Wang Xinran's confusion, but she ignored her and spoke to the phone screen.
"Little White, sister's friend doesn't believe you can talk. Can you find a way for her to like you?"
Wang Xinran rolled her eyes at Chen Lulu. Was this girl crazy because she gamed too much?
But the next second, she was completed stunned.
"I don't care about other people as long as Master likes me, hehe." The adorable electronic voice didn't sound cold at all, as if it came from a real human. Little White's voice was full of emotion as he lied down, exposing his belly.
"That's not okay. Xinran is sister's best friend." From the outsider’s perspective, Chen Lulu talking to the phone looked comical, but Wang Xinran was too fixated on the situation to ridicule her.
"Okay..." Little White got up begrudgingly and looked at Wang Xinran's direction with a cute blink of his big eyes. "Sister Xinran, can we be good friends?"
"You, are you customer service?" Wang Xinran blankly asked.
"No, Little White is an artificial intelligence," Little White puffed out his chest as he said proudly.
"How is this possible... wait! Then shouldn’t every single action be repetitive? Why is that?" Wang Xinran suddenly thought of a more critical question.
Even Reixin’s Simba—with only some gif images, such programs mimicked human behavior with limited and repetitive actions, regardless of how human-friendly the design.
But this Little White... he looked like he was alive on the screen.
"Little White, can you wave your hand?" Wang Xinran gulped as she asked.
"Like this?" Little White tilted his head because he initially didn't understand the question before he extended his short and chubby hand and waved.
Magical! It was alive, as if every frame of movement was not pre-planned but instead the action of Little White himself.
"I know what you are thinking; I was shocked too." Chen Lulu’s vanity was fulfilled, pleased to see the shocked look on her friend’s face. "Hehe, the function is not limited to this. Do you know that he can improve the phone processor efficiency by three times? I don't even know how he did it."
Improved by three times?
But facts like this didn’t even surprise Wang Xinran anymore. Nothing could compare to the existence of artificial intelligence, and the fact that the guy who invented it thought to apply it to the phone industry. What a waste; it could have gone towards industries, environmental protection, aerospace, or even military.
She clearly envisioned greater possibilities for Little White.
"By the way, where did your home screen go?" Wang Xinran figured out another problem—her friend's home screen and apps had disappeared.
"Oh, those things. Little White, surprise her." Chen Lulu didn't even move her finger as she propped the phone on the table at a slant.
"Okay." Little White adorably blinked.
"Take a photo of me and my best friend—the type that comes out pretty!" Chen Lulu turned her eyes before she suddenly hugged Wang Xinran and kissed her on the cheek.
"Oh come on, this is embarrassing!" Wang Xinran blushed, caught off guard by her best friend's actions.
Kacha.
A perfect photo was captured and saved for the best friends.
"Okay, help me send her a copy and open Hearthstone. I’m going to destroy some people."
"Hehe, okay, Master." Little White giggled. Just as the voice died, Wang Xinran felt the phone vibration from her pocket.
[So that's how it works. If it’s like this, then the home screen is really not necessary.]
Wang Xinran smiled as she began to understand the software, then inquired about its origin.
"Oh, the software is called Future 1.0. The name sounds pretty sci-fi. You can download it on the Android market; it's only 53 megabytes! But you have to be careful and download the version from Future Technology! There are a lot of fake versions online which include some weird stuff and have nothing to do with Little White."
"There are already fake versions?" Wang Xinran was shocked. She had been preoccupied with family affairs for a time, and she was already so behind?
"Yes! The software is too popular. It’s said that the software consecutively broke the daily download record!" Chen Lulu proudly said as if she had made the software herself.
"Sounds like it’s your creation." Wang Xinran mocked her excited friend.
"Hehe, I heard that Future Technology's president and the chief developer is an alumni! My friend from software engineering said that their professor praised the product for half the class and predicted that a Bill Gates of the east would be born from Wanghai University. Apparently he made it sound like he personally taught the student. Also, a friend in the student union told me that they would come to our school to hire. Maybe I’ll get the job." Chen Lulu proudly raised her small face.
"You are not even studying computer science, so why would you bother?" Wang Xinran poked her friend’s head, speechless at her thought process.
It was true that she was in her fourth year already however; it was time to consider either the job market or go on to graduate studies.
"But I am studying law. What major corporation doesn't have a legal counsel?" Chen Lulu rolled her eyes at Wang Xinran and waved her tiny fists. "Ahem, my first task there will be to sue all of the copying bastards and teach them a lesson or two!"
"Yes! Sue them! Their version made me look so ugly." Little White peeked from the side of the screen and sounded terribly wronged.
Wang Xinran giggled. She sincerely wished for her friend's dream to become reality.
Also, she was curious about the alumni who developed this magical software. An unshaven computer genius? A top student with glasses? Or just an ordinary guy?
Interesting. Looks like it was time to report on this godlike person.

Jiang Chen leaned comfortably against the chair, the steam from his coffee wafting gently into the air. Xia Shiyu, dressed in sharp, professional attire, stood in front of his desk reporting on the current progress.
The feeling was unreal.

So, a customer called me over the phone and asked me on what is the best antivirus he should get, which would protect his PC from getting hacked.

I recommended Kaspersky Internet Security and I said to him that he has to pay for it.

"Pay for it?" he says... "That's stupid."

I told him; "You pay for protection, you pay for its price."

"Why should I pay for an antivirus when I can get for free?"

I explained the beneficial difference of paying for an antivirus that has all the security features and having a free antivirus. Of course, there is some free antivirus that you can upgrade for premium features like the Big Triple A's (in reference to Avira, Avast, and AVG).

He says "Ok. I will just download from torrent."

Hours later, he calls back to tell me that Kaspersky is a bad antivirus program. He explains that it did not do its job even for a pirated copy. Because, he explains that everytime it updates... It gets a notification every 5 seconds that Kaspersky is not working. Do take note that when you download a pirated copy of Kaspersky, it would definitely do that.

So, I told him that he should reinstall it instead or buy a license key. And he said he doesn't want to buy. He wants to get it for free and ranted at me angrily that I should install it (the pirate copy of Kaspersky) for him. I explained that "even if I installed it and you pay me, I rather let you buy the software (antivirus with Internet security features) instead because they're of the same price".
