Reincarnated into the world of remnant as an adult with the pathfinder system.

After Wallace fell unconscious upon consuming the potion of Divine Sense, it took him a day before waking up again.
Wallace opened his eyes and checked his digital clock near his bed. It is already 6:00 PM of the next day. It seems that the potion was too amazing or his body's foundation was too weak to consume the high-grade potion.
[ You have successfully learned Divine Sense. ]
It was a notification that came from the Pathfinder after Wallace got up from his bed. A burst of information suddenly surfaced in his mind. It was all information related to the usage of Divine Sense.
"So, it was like these."
He closed his eyes then activated his Divine Sense. His sensory perception expanded to almost 100 meters, he felt all signs of life and objects within the range. He could see what was happening within this scope and it even felt that the time slowed down. No, his senses were actually accelerated as well.
"Mhm... This sensation. Divine indeed."
Wallace regaled at this newfound ability. As he tried to explore this new ability of his, he spent almost a whole day fiddling with his divine sense and discovered some weaknesses on it as well. Apparently, there were some occasions where magicians were able to sense someone peeking at them. It was due to his imperfect control of divine sense.
Luckily, with the increase of his concentration and abundant knowledge, it only took Wallace several tries to correct this and he got familiar with its usage after spending a day with it. He discovered as well that it wasn't actually consuming that much of mana when activating the divine sense and it was almost negligible.
Unfortunately, even though he could use the sensory boost that divine sense provided, he still could not use the other abilities it could do. It seemed that he needed more potion of it to further upgrade this ability.
Within the same day, Wallace contacted his parents to get assistance to register his magic structure. He would definitely get a patent for it.
His parents were surprised about their son's achievement and more than happy to support him when he spoke about his plans to have a patent on this magic structure.
Wallace lived at Tanza City where a branch of the National Magic Trade and Industry was located. His parents had already contacted necessary personnel to assist him with this and he only had to meet with someone his parents knew in the Intellectual Property Office to guide him through the process. After all this, he got the patent-pending status and was told to wait for only a month.
Patent-pending status just meant that it was already filed in the patent office. Even if an inventor had that status, it was still undetermined whether he would get a patent. Normally, this status would last for about a year before receiving a patent.

"Yumi! So, what was the structure the kid has submitted?"
A tanned man with messy black hair and wearing a black suit, entered the room demanding an answer to his question. Percival, the new headmaster of the Leonhearts Academy, just pushed the door open in the office of the Director of Magicians Bureau of Patent. This office was located inside the NMTI.
"Perci at last, you've arrived. Here take a look at this and give me your thoughts."
A middle-aged lady was fiddling with her computer when her cousin arrived. She too had black hair and her reading glass could be seen on her head. She was wearing office attire that fitted her slender but sensual body. She gracefully passed her tablet device and shown something to Percival.
"So, that's why you've called me here! Magic Jammer Canceller! This is an amazing innovation!"
"That's true, it was amazing for a student to accomplish this."
"Right, I actually researched this Wallace from our academy. With the information I found about him, he doesn't seem to possess something that can allow him to create this innovation. He was just average until recently. The most incredible performance in the Academy was that recent exam they had but..." Percival explained as before he left the Academy, he made sure he had enough information.
"Yes, I really want to learn more about him. He actually agreed when we mentioned that we would like to make this as secret as possible and for it to be used by our government."
Yumi added as once they learned the capability of the magic structure, they immediately did their best to contact Wallace and to make arrangements for military integration of the magic structure. Even though there was a scarce number of magic jammer users, they were still there and were a problem to deal with. Especially the one creating a variant magic jammer. It was tough to deal with someone who was equipped with that variant.
Percival checked the pages about the other description and about the magic structure limitations. It was perfect. Without considering future upgrades, the limitation was just basically the coverage area of the canceller and that it required precise control with the mind for its usage. But the improvement of material and structure for a further upgrade was definitely doable to improve its performance.

Wallace was inside the headmaster's office in the Academy. He was actually quite curious about the reason he was called out here. He was in front of the dignified Percival who was behind his desk and looking carefully at Wallace.
"Traceless Hands, it is the name you would like to use as the creator of the new magic structure recently submitted in the Patent Office. Not a bad decision, I must say."
The conversation started with that. Sir Percival just revealed to Wallace that he was aware of what he was doing. Wallace was somewhat aware of the ripples his magic structure would create in the government so he was only surprised a bit when the headmaster learned it. After all, Leonhearts Academy and other academy were somehow tied or controlled by the government as combat magicians were coming from these academies.
"Yes, I chose Traceless Hands for the brand of my creations. Though I would like to keep my identity as confidential as possible." Wallace spoke confidently in front of the headmaster.
"Well, I can understand your point and I can help with that."
Wallace only needed enough prestige to allow him to participate in the TMAC. As long as his skills were recognized by the top brass, it would be easier for him to have an opportunity to retrieve his spaceship.
"Only a few months until the selection of the participants for the TMAC... I was hoping I could participate there."
He wanted to step ahead and make arrangements for the future since he was now in front of the headmaster anyway.

A planet that was not recorded in the database containing records of almost all human discoveries in thousands of years. This is where Wallace has to live and survive until he discover a way home. 

He was left with a damaged spaceship that can only be used as a shelter now. Equipped with his bio-armor, laser gun and other advanced technology equipment, he was confident that he can somehow survive in this world. But there is something here that is not existing in many galaxies that humans has conquered... magic.

Unfortunately for him, before he could explore the new world that resembles Earth, he died.

Yes, the whole volume 1 was for the sake of retrieving the spaceship aside from world building, etc. 

There will be a lot of unanswered questions or missing information at the beginning but don't worry... everything is planned and will be revealed in later chapters.

Also, the first half of the first volume was inspired by 6 or so animes and 4 other novels. Good luck finding them.

Nix and Bali waited while Fajii made her way to the rendezvous point with Nebs and Gideon.  

Since they didn't know what they were facing, Nix summoned Fey for backup.  

The white-haired mage wore her hair in a pretty braid that Ducky almost certainly did for her. She was wearing a green robe that Nix had made and put several enchantments on.  Her sleeves were rolled up, exposing her pale skinny arms.  "Good Morning, Nix."  

Nix returned her greeting; her face was flushed like she had been laughing. "Something going on?"

Ducky nodded.  "Morti was arguing with his Chevalier."  

Nix heard Scarlett mention that a Chevalier was supposed to be a guide for young cubs. "Doesn't sound like Morti."  

"He tried to take Morti's helmet." 

"Really?"  Nix shook his head in disgust; he'd been with the cub for months.  He was smart, loyal, and fierce; "I shouldn't interfere."  

"Dust, Boss."  Bali's sharp eyes picked up the barest hint of dust from three riders. "It's the rest of our team." 

Gideon and Nebs spent the night in town at the Ionova Inn; Nix still wasn't sure why the Salamander Assassin chose to accompany the cleric.

/Pathfinder: Nix: Thanks for coming.  

/Pathfinder: Gideon: Is there a fight brewing?

/Pathfinder: Nix: Maybe.  It seems like someone has taken over ownership of the farms and decided to set themselves up as a land baron.

/Pathfinder: Fajii: You've already spoken to the farmers?

/Pathfinder: Nix: Just Hopi Hanza, her family, has been running the farm and paying a portion of their profits to the Oberton family. Can you summon Eron for me, Fajii?

/Pathfinder: Fajii: Sure.  

A moment later, the black fox leaped onto Nix's shoulder.  "Worthy."  

"Think you could find bodies that might have been buried nearby, it would have been about ten years ago."  Nix scratched the little fox's ears while he spoke.  "It's only a hunch, so if you can't." 

"Can and will."  Eron hopped down and disappeared from sight.  

/Pathfinder: Gideon: I bet they are paying a large portion.

Nix nodded without saying anything.  Having met the pretty Asian woman who plays as Gideon the Assassin, he was struggling to separate them in his head. 

/Pathfinder: Fey: I don't have a horse.

/Pathfinder: Nix: We'll ride double for now.  I'll get you one for next time.  

Fey stowed her staff and accepted a hand up, her thin arms wrapped around his waist.  "Sorry for the inconvenience."  

The group started out at a walk since their destination was only a few minutes away.  Nightmare had no problems with the extra weight; the human form of Fey was quite light.  

/Pathfinder: Nebs: I've been studying the City Center Interface Nix.  The whole process will take about a day.

/Pathfinder: Nix: Anything we need to do before you get started?

/Pathfinder: Nebs: Not really, it won't interfere with anything since it's all new buildings in a completely different location.

/Pathfinder: Nix: Start as soon as we get back.

Gideon whistled when the house came into view. "That doesn't look like a farmhouse."  

The Oberton home looked more like the estate of someone with a lot of wealth.  Nix studied the layout as they approached.  "There's no way five farms paid for this; something else is going on."  

They rode through the gate, and the dirt trail abruptly turned to cobblestone.  The house itself was a combination of wood and brick.  The elegant two-story design boasted a large balcony and lots of stained glass windows.  A handful of people walked out of the double-doored entrance when they rode up.   

Fey slid off of Nightmare and waited while the rest of the group dismounted.  She picked out the fire user from the group immediately.  "The female is a fire mage," she whispered. 

/Pathfinder: Bali: Two more hidden from sight.  One is thirty meters to the right of us; the other is on the second floor of that balcony.  

/Pathfinder: Gideon: How we playing this?

/Pathfinder: Nix: Diplomatically, of course.  

Bali and Fajii shared a look and spread out slightly.  

"You must be the new Steward of Ionova?  I'm Tobias Oberton."  

Nix took a moment to study Tobias.  He was a middle-aged man with a slim build, he stood poised like a swordsman and wore a single blade at his waist.  "Let's get straight to the point. Unless you have original deeds  that Clan Leader Scarlett wrote up, I'm not going to honor any land rights you claim to hold."  

"Steward Nix, let us not be hasty.  How can I be held accountable for someone else's error?  I have deeds signed by those families."

"Really?"  Nix motioned for Bali to collect the papers that Tobias was holding up.  "Isn't it peculiar that all five families decided to leave at the same time?"

Tobias shook his head in reply.  "The Curse was especially bad that year, the crops were completely wiped out, and none of them could afford to reseed."  

Nix looked at the papers Bali handed him, they were all signed by someone, but he had no way of verifying who. "The date on these sales is nine months before the last curse happened."  

"Is it?"  Tobias shrugged it off.  "A simple clerical error."  

"You purchased 42 bags of seeds from the vendors in Ionova at this same time.  Did they make a mistake also?"  

Tobias held out his hands helplessly.  "What should I do?  Pay for the errors of others?"  

Nix paged through the deeds a second time. "Seems to be one missing."  

Tobias frowned slightly.  "What do you mean."  

Nix brought up the local map on his hud and overlayed the five farming properties onto it.  "As you can see, the farms are highlighted. See this dark section right here?"

"I do," Tobias admitted.  

"That land is owned by Ionova."  Nix game him a friendly smile, "it also happens to be the land we are standing on."  

A flash of black announced the return of Eron, he whispered something in Nix's ear and then jumped down.  

Nix frowned.  "A mass grave on the property?"  

[Aura Ignition: Fury Flames]

The other members of Pathfinder moved away from him, the air around him crackling and popping with the sudden increase in temperature.  The deeds he was holding burst into flames; he dropped the burning papers and pushed flames into Wrath.

Tobias's demeanor completely changed, "you'll be joining them."  

/Pathfinder: Bali: Someone placed a hunter's mark on us.

[Storm Rider]
An instant later, Nix appeared behind the Archer.  

[Thunderfist]
Nix punched the Archer in the back of the head.  

Hezzi Oberton has been stunned.  

Nix grabbed the Archer around the waist and jumped over the top rail of the balcony.  He landed hard on the cobblestone, pile driving his opponent's head into the rocks.  

Hezzi Oberton has been crippled.  

 It happened so fast, none of the Oberton's had time to react. 

[Daisy Chains]
The crashing boom of thunder echoed in the air as Tobias, and the four men close to him were enveloped in lightning.  They stood frozen in place, convulsing and screaming in pain. 

[Assassin Combo: Backstab, Throat slash]
Gideon has slain Tobias Oberton.

The Oberton fire mage cast balefire on Fey, only to have the thin teen catch it in one hand.  The mage threw herself on the ground and surrendered without any further resistance. 

Nix felt something slam into his side, spinning him around.  
[Brodi has landed a critical hit on you, Nether Effect activated: damage is divided by one half]

[Rock Slam]
Fajii has landed a significant blow on Brodi 

[Storm Rider: Execution]
Successful Combination attempt.  

Nix appeared behind Brodi and removed his head with a flash of white flames.  

Brodi Oberton has been slain. 

It was over within a few seconds, by the time Daisy Chains wore off, three of them were already dead.  The others gave up without attempting to resist further.

/Pathfinder: Nix: Tie them up.  

/Pathfinder: Bali: On it.

/Pathfinder: Nebs: Fajii, you're with me in the main house, rest of you search the outbuildings.  

Fajii and Nix walked through the double doors of the manor, four men and two women sat on the floor with their hands up. 

Nix approached them; by their attire, he guessed they were the help.  He helped up one of the women that seemed like the oldest among them.  "Relax, you aren't in any trouble. I'm Nix. What's your name?" 

 The older woman was somewhat heavy, her round face showing relief.  "Tilly, I'm the cook here."

"You're the cook? Been here long?"  

Tilly nodded.  "Almost eight years.  We are all workers here."  

"I've dealt with Tobias Oberton, so why don't you tell me what's really going on?" 

"Smugglers, Slave Traders, and Raiders." A man from the floor stood up slowly.  "I'm Vic Toril, the stablemaster here."  

/Pathfinder: Nix: Heh... Dibs on the horses.

/Pathfinder: Nebs: Huh?

/Pathfinder: Gideon: What?

Nix studied the man for a moment before answering.  He was young for a stablemaster, probably in his late teens.  His black hair hung to his shoulders, and his face looked like he'd recently been beaten up. "You take care of the horses?"

"Yes, sir." 

"Here's the issue I see, Vic.  You said they are smugglers and Raiders. Ionova is somewhat isolated, we will have a Gate Platform to Free Trader City soon, but as of now, that doesn't exist.  Where would they be raiding?"

Vic nodded in agreement.  "They have three boats, not like any you've ever seen.  Tobias referred to them as his treasures."  

/Pathfinder: Fajii: Sea transport? It's possible. 

/Pathfinder: Nix: Search Tobias.  

/Pathfinder: Bali: On it.

Nix gestured for the rest of the group to stand. "Pack your things, please and be ready to leave in an hour."  

Tilly's old face showed a hint of worry. "What are our options, Mr. Nix?"  

"Each of you will receive 10 thousand credits as a relocation fee from Ionova. Your options are to find work in Ionova or take the gate to Free Trader City in a few days when the City Center is complete."

A cool breeze blew by whipping Pathfinder's hair into her face, blocking the view in front of her. She gently brushed the pieces behind her ear, revealing the sobbing figure in front of her. She was a young woman, just barely past adulthood. 

Too many emotions at once I imagine.

She's very beautiful. It's almost ironic how pain can amplify what is already good. But I still wish I had those locks, Pathfinder thought with a touch of humor while eyeing her own wild hair.

 It was all she could do in the situation. She arrived here only a moment ago along with the crying girl. They currently were in front of a simple altar, probably built for some wayward god, surrounded by woods. They weren't close to any village as the forest was practically untouched beside the overgrown trail. The trees were tall and rough, seemingly stubbornly standing against wind and rain for years on end. One could tell the underbrush would be difficult to trek through at just a glance. Sounds of the faint rustle of leaves being tossed about by the wind, which was not particularly gentle. 

After tucking her hair behind her ear for the umpteenth time, Pathfinder huffed and turned to face another direction so it wouldn't keep doing the same. As she turned she noticed it was quieter. The sobbing woman was now sniffling silently while looking at the surroundings with wide eyes. 

Time for my entrance it seems.

Information rushed forward to her brain, guided by instinct. This woman was a lost soul. Someone seemingly abandoned by the heavens. She was beaten, abused, betrayed. In the world of the selfish, her kindness was taken advantage of and she was swallowed hole with not even bones left behind.
 
It should've ended there.

There were many abused people who were taken advantage of in the world. But they all had a breaking point, they all turned back. They saw what was in front of them and knew they couldn't carry on with how they were.

But she didn't. 

I'd call it stupid. Others would call it brave, even admirable. But is a demise.

Despite what she thought, Pathfinder did respect the woman. She held her ground and carried on with her path. That was commendable. But she was too naive. Some should not be trusted, others not forgiven, sometimes second chances are too many. Her faith in others was just too strong. She would give and give and give. Giving too much. Too, too much.

 The happiness of others was the meaning of her life.

Pathfinder didn't know the exact details, after all it wasn't her life. What she did know was fuzzy, yet familiar. A blurred overview of the situation. She imagined she would be able to find out more when she came in contact with something relevant. But one thing she did know, living a life serving others was not your own life. This woman was barely an amount away from being hollow.

A life lived with emotion and drive would give the soul substance. It would power and direct the soul in its existence. 

Pathfinder cast her eyes over her body and saw a dim grey aura. It wasn't foul like the shadow of the undead, nor was it full of solace like the neutrality of a sage. It was close to being transparent. If Pathfinder had to compare it to something, it may be a dull stone tossed down a well when seeing how far down it would go. 

Pathfinder didn't know why she  her own tears rolled down her cheeks. She couldn't recall any reason she should cry for others. After all, it wasn't her purpose. But something about standing before this dying ember of hope branded her eyes. It's image wound its way around her chest, squeezing her heart. It… hurt?

Pathfinder frowned and held her chest. 

None of it made sense. Why her of anyone? What has she been through that could be different from all the others tragedies?

The kneeling woman now cast her eyes on the stranger in front of her. She was unusual. Not only was she very tall for a woman, she had golden patterns running from the tips of her fingers, to her elbows, all the way to her neck. A powerful, imposing aura was surrounding her while her steel colored hair kept flying about. But there were two prominent items on this stranger. The first, a black pendant hanging from her neck carved with unique, yet undoubtedly, exquisite craftsmanship. The other were her eyes, a brilliant shade of blue. They had no pupils.

The woman sucked in a harsh breath and stumbled back when making eye contact with the being. A silent tear of blood glistened as it hung on the strangers face, contradicting the appearance of a mischievous spirit with the image of a weathered traveler. Suddenly, she put her hand to her chest and frowned. The woman knitted her brows and watched what she would do next. After all, she was she already looked around and found she was in the middle of nowhere and had no idea when she got here, so it seemed it was better to see what the other party knew first. After all, if it was a spirit, she was done for anyways. 

She couldn't help but laugh at the situation. I let someone else do what they wish with my fate once again. Wait… again?

Pathfinder resumed her neutral expression as she returned to normal. But just now, that woman held her head with a strained expression.  

What was she doing?
Well, that's probably normal. I hope. I imagine she's just going through some memories resurfacing. 

She didn't have to wait long. Soon after the woman relaxed but still retained a cold aura. She slowly raised her head.

"You saved me?"

Pathfinder smiled at that question. She liked smart people and she knew this woman wasn't some dimwit. She knew how to read the situation and piece together the fragments. After all, she had died but was now sitting in front of some odd entity with unknown intentions. But fortunately it's her lucky day.

Pathfinder took a step forward with an upturned lip, "You could say that. But what I think you should ask is what am I doing here? Maybe I'm here to devour you hm? Steal your life essence or turn you into a soul puppet in return?"

The girl's gloomy tensed as she said, "don't play with me. I know business transaction when I see one."

"Well," Pathfinder sighed, She grumbled a bit before she smiled once more, "it would be more of a partnership than a transaction anyway."

"What do you want? What are you?"

A Djinni? A legendary spirit of the Far East? Rumored wishing woman? That doesn't make sense.

Pathfinder frowned again, "Well ignoring the previous statement, I am a Pathfinder. I know about what you've been through.  We are bound soul to soul. I seemed to have saved you-"

"Why?" The woman was standing now, curious and cautious, but also taut. She was finally full of emotion, like a volcano brewing until  the verge of erupting. She could feel her anguish, fear, despair, hatred, anger. So many all finally coming together for once in her dull life, so passionate for those that were stolen from her, and Pathfinder was eager to let her fire rain.

"-though not really sure what came after, here we are now. You should really be excited though, Hera" the spirit opened her arms wide and held mischievous grin, "We're here to wreak havoc after all."

Another gust of wind blew, letting loose the fine strands of hair as they flew wildly, shadowing her face, "And I can't wait to get started"

Hera was silent for a moment before chuckling and meeting the spirits eyes. The wind whipped around them as though they were the eye of the storm.

And slowly, she let out a grin.

"She is now an existence who lives on revenge."

Calista Aclide always a fought tooth and nail to live to create a better life for her and her mother.

Day 2 of Basic Training.

Everyone was sitting in rows, and Pathfinder Troy was standing in the front.

He scanned through the sitting youths.

"Yesterday, I told you I would present a gift to the class if at least five of you could answer my questions without fail. I will state my question; you must first raise your hand and wait to be called upon. Then you may answer..."

He placed his hands behind his back and smiled lightly.

"How many stars are there, and what are they used for?"

Several youths raised their hands.

Pathfinder Troy pointed towards a timid girl in the center of the class.

"I believe i-its six stars in total. T-they are used to... rank the difficulty of a mission." After she finished, she lightly sighed in relief and bowed her head.

Troy nodded. "Correct"

A couple of hours later and a total of 4 people could answer his question without fail. But of course, some just failed miserably.

Among the four were Charles and Maya.

This correct to incorrect ratio proves one of Pathfinder Troy's remarks. 

Lack of Attention.

"Last question, how are squads ranked, and what are their size margins."

...Crickets
Pathfinder Troy frowned slightly. 'I knew they were a bunch of country bumpkins but. To this extent?'

Izen sighed lightly. 'Guess I'll answer the question.'

Being the only one raising his hand, of course, Troy would have to call on him.

"Squads have Tiers. The 9th Tier has a squad built of all-white rank members. Every other Tier needs the Squad Leader to be a rank higher while proceeding as a whole grants you another Tier.

Squad margins are Small 3, Medium 9, Large 12."

Pathfinder Troy nodded with a gleam of recognition in his eyes. 'The Architect. Indeed a talent.'

"Very well, a total of 5 out of 908 were able to answer my questions without fail. It's abysmal, but I am a man of my word.

This information that only royals and high nobles know. You may not understand it now, but in the future, my words will have an unbeatable value. Ingrave this in your memories, and also. You didn't learn this from me." He gave everyone a firm look.

"A Will tempered and an unquenchable thirst for understanding creates a whole new world.

Now for something more present. You missed out on a grand opportunity that you will perhaps regret for a lifetime. Follow my earlier words and seize all your prospects. Class Dismissed."

Everyone started getting up and leaving alongside friends.

Izen got up but was staring into space.

'A will Tempered and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge creates a whole new world...  It makes sense, but it keeps giving me a nagging thought that there's more to it.
His eyebrows were so tightly nit that they were soon going to hold a wedding ceremony.

'And he also holds us in contempt, that much is obvious from his eyes. So why would he help us?'

Izen shook his head. 'No use trying to figure it out without more clues and information. I got better things to do.'

As Izen looked around, he spotted Charles and Maya walking towards him.

"What's up?" Izen gave a wide smile. 

"I have a headache because of the words spoken by Pathfinder Troy. But other than that, I'm glad we went to the night class. It's going to be legit."

Izen and Maya had wide eyes.

"What? Is there something on my face?!" Charles wiped his face to double-check.

"Pfffft!" Maya laughed, the sound resounding in both the heart and eyes. 

"I've just never heard you speak more than a few words. Even back at the village." She smiled and shook her head.

"I guess you're right; I just feel comfortable around Izen, dunno why." Charles squinted his eyes.

Izen's instincts flared with a pinch at his kneck.

Whoosh*    
*Clang*

Two swords clashed, blurring until they stopped at each other.

Both of them had a smile.

"What the heck! What are you doing Cha-" Before she could finish her sentence, she got her answer. Her eyes gleamed.

Izen had blocked Charles' sword and held him at checkmate with a fist near his throat.

"I know why you are a worthy friend. You're cautious and trusts his instincts."

Izen chuckled.

....

Later that evening.

"Very well, candidates." Pathfinder Dren looked around at the rough-looking youths.

"You have earned the right to participate in this class, but let me inform you about it.
"Firstly, there are multiple types of specialists, trackers, weapon masters, soldiers, counter-trackers, assassins, strategists, etc. 

Now, there's only one that can learn all. A J.A.D.E specialist, or better known as Jack of All Trades. To be able to become a Jade Specialist, you must show potential and must hone your instincts throughout this training. You also get a moniker, which after a set time, you receive. Now, before you get your hopes up, there are five that have passed the first criteria to qualify. After a few weeks in training of all aspects, they must go through a time-simulation test, courtesy of the P.F.A.

They must go through 999 simulations, all utterly different from the other. That would take forever, fear not though. The Artifact has a double-time slip, meaning time passes faster in there than out here. 

I have with me several instructors. So, to each there own. Choose which specialization you want. After these two months, you will all head towards Rivercrest City. Dismissed." Pathfinder Dren looked towards the five that were separated from the rest.

He walked away, the group in tow. 

'That was a massive dump of information... I think I can try to be a Jade Specialist.' With that, Izen nodded with a smile before following.

A week later.

'Damn! This guy is overworking us!!' Izen was back in his tent, pacing back and forth. His build closer towards the epitome of Power and balance.

'I can't lie though, he's a talented Pathfinder and Specialist.' Izen nodded off in remembrance. 'Only one in a million can become a Jade Specialist. And he's one. Mr. Dren, that's crazy.'

Izen snapped out of it and sat down, breathing slowly. 'My body is getting stronger; my mind is too. I can easily create artifacts. My resonance technique is almost complete; I'll have to name it soon!

I've also got a whole group of friends. So far, my time has been great. I think I might even like Maya...' Izen shook his head.

'Focus, I must cultivate.' 

...

Three weeks later

"HOLD IT!! You DARE consider yourself J.A.D.E material?! FOCUS!!!" Pathfinder Dren was shouting.

As the sun was setting, a figure glistening with sweat was holding onto a bow, firing shots off while hitting bullseye 50 meters away. But he had to keep the arrow at full draw for 5 seconds before release, all while in the horse stance.

After 150 shots, "SWITCH HANDS! YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A CADET!!!!!!!!"

The figure didn't switch immediately, and so received a whip to the left arm.

"I SAID SWITCH!" At this point, the vocal cords were racked and hoarse; the voice kept yelling. Pathfinder Dren was heaving and puffing with a red face.

One hundred fifty shots later, "You can stop now, son." The figure fell to the floor, gasping. Arms, shoulders, knees, and toes were trembling slightly.

Pathfinder dren walked over, "You did good kid. Hehe, a lot better than me. This ends your ranged weapons training, congrats." Dren looked over to the other four figures crouched gasping for air.

"I didn't believe I'd see a future Jade Specialist. But Izen here is ready to take the test." He paused, letting the information sink in.

The others couldn't help but peel there eyes in surprise, one even fell on his ass and shook his head.

"He's the only one. You four only qualify for the Red Specialist Test, which is essentially the same, just a tier lower." He then turned around to face Izen, who was still on the floor. "You have two days to prepare; We only have a month and a half left to train. But if you pass, you'll get access to the Sim Artifact to train further and consolidate your skills, and I'll also teach you some other skills. ONLY if you pass." 

With that, Pathfinder dren left.

The other four got up and walked up to Izen.

Charles shook his hand, extended his hand out. Izen firmly grasped it and stood up. Dusting himself off, he smiled but winced.

"Ughhhhh, my body feels like it's been tempered by acidic lava!" Izen started waddling forward.

"Guys, I'm going to go rest. I'll see you tomorrow." With that, Izen walked away with a slight limp and stiff arms.

Maya giggled! "Oh my, he does look penguin-like, huh?." She smiled genuinely while shaking her head softly.

Charles grinned. "He really does, still can't believe he's qualified for the Jade Test. But I have to give it to him, he's just..." Charles winced. "He got his ass kicked thoroughly but still hung on." Charles felt proud to be his friend.

Maya looked at Charles. "Look at you... Never thought you'd have a friend this quickly." She smiled and looked in the direction Izen left. "He's earned that chance. I hope with all my heart, he passes. I just met him, but I can tell he's a genuine guy."

Izen laid on the bed with a groan. 'Geezus...Mr. Dren. He really destroyed me these last three weeks.' 

With that, his first day was spent snoring.

The last three weeks were like a Navy Seal Hell week.

Pathfinder Dren created a training regime meant to break his body and shatter his mind. Waking up at 4 am to suddenly find a Variant prowling next him in the outdoors. Nothing was wrong with this, but somehow Mr. Dren transported Izen into the woods.

Next, he had to run 15 miles, after which he had to lift rocks about 250 Kg in weight and chuck them farther than 37 meters 100 times.

During his training with the sword or any other melee weapon, he had to be under a waterfall. At the same time, below him, there was a 5 x 5 square of log poles standing upright. Having to train under such conditions truly exhausted you.

Next, his hidden weapons training and stealth skills were put to the test by attempting an ambush on a class 2 Elite Variant, the equivalent of a Natural Realm, Liquid Stage Cultivator.

Next, he would catch a lucky break and enter Pathfinder Troy's general class, so he didn't miss out on vital information about the world and local news as well as essential things such as Artifacts, Relics, and potions.

After the break, he would get into the horse stance, where he stayed put for 4 hours. After which came combat of 1 v 1-10 and with varying weapons. 

Second, to last was ranged weapons training. Bows, Crossbows, Blowpipes. While moving, taking fire, and in different weather conditions, he had to be able to strike a bullseye from 100m-700m. 

Finally, at the end of the day, the part he looked forward to at least, was single combat against Pathfinder Dren, but not before meditating on the previous fights. 

Mr. Dren insisted on meditating, on recounting the fight, on reinforcing insights and to hone his instinctual responses.

In single combat, its life or death. Izen had to bear pressure but also fight back. No passive approach was allowed.

Lastly, verbal combat, drawing two pictures at once while in the horse stance. Training to multitask while under stress definitely caused Izen to ask for mercy. 

After the abuse brought about by the training, he'd collapse. But every now and then, Mr. Dren would switch it up by allowing some of the to-be assassins to ambush Izen in his sleep.

This caused Izen restless sleep. But he started to adapt the sleeping-but-I-know-everything-around-me state.

All for 3 weeks, a never-ending cycle. It was all finally over.

A terrible Catastrophe caused the life of Daniel(Izen) to change. He died amongst millions.

He faded in and out of consciousness during a turbulence in the space time continum, dimensional energy merged into to his body and fell dormant.

He finally awoke in a world that was war torn and suffering. What will Daniel do? Will he save it? Will he ignore it?

Hey guys, hope you are having a wonderful day. I just wanted to inform you that this book is something I am doing for fun. Therefore it is not a very high priority. 

Of course If the book gets into the ranks or receives lots of attention, I'll start uploading more often. Hope you guys enjoy and please, I accept constructive criticism!!

'Interesting…'
Jacob commented to himself as he got a vast amount of points.
At first, he was slightly disappointed due to the fact that an average human in Pathfinder had ten points into each stat, but his status was half of a normal person.
With a total of thirty stat points, he'd be able to mold himself into his ideal image. Pathfinder was a bit different than other games and stats differed by what they meant in a way.
Considering he was able to develop himself, Jacob started with his stat points. In truth, intelligence and charisma were useless to him currently, as even with five points he'd be able to put a point or two into certain skills. Still, he put five points into intelligence boosting it up to ten.
Next, he placed ten points into strength, giving him a total of fifteen points. Lastly, he put everything else into agility allowing him to have twenty agility. Double that of a normal person in Pathfinder.
In all honesty, he did not feel that different than before. He did not feel stronger, but he knew he was due to his previous status as a developer for the game.
Someone might ask him, why not pump yourself full of strength? In return, Jacob would reply that strength can only take you so far in the early game. If you had high mobility then it wouldn't be hard for you to take on a band of bandits by yourself.
Agility gave a person increased movement speed, so the higher it was the faster one would move. However, that was not the only thing it did as it also affected your accuracy, attack speed, stamina and ability to increase your weapon mastery. All these things were beneficial for a player in Pathfinder.
Jacob swiftly placed six points into both Athletics and Weapon Mastery, leaving the other eighteen points for another time. As for his proficiency points, he just let those be as they were for now.
What he needed to do now was explore and find a way to make some money. If this was indeed Pathfinder, then was it the same era the beta testers started in or was it before then when the empire was still a thing.
Depending on which one it was would help Jacob decide on what he should do, but before he could do anything he needed money.
There are various ways one could make money, the most rewarding would be pillaging villages for gold and items. That, of course, would gain you infamy if you were to do it within the same kingdom you're associated with. If this was indeed Pathfinder and in the era where the Empire still stood then that option was negated. As Jacob did not want to garner the attention of the empire and have them hunt him like a dog.
With that option out of the way, there were still many more he could do such as becoming a merchant, hunting down bandits or deserters for rewards. However, neither of those interested him currently.
An easy way to net cash was to join the army. Pledge your loyalty to a lord to join their ranks and they would pay for your training, gear and even give you a weekly wage. It was a small wage, but better than nothing.
'But who? We were still in the process of developing the key figures in the empire's downfall. I was in charge of creating Albert and Veronica, both of which were ambitious and when they saw there was no hope left in the empire securing the safety of its own citizens the two of them resigned.'
'Albert is a warrior through and through while Veronica is a commander. She has more wealth than him, but he has more experience on the battlefield than her. Considering I know the most about the two of them, it would be best I join hands with one.'
'Still, proving myself to either of them would be a dauntless task as both are highly respected generals.'
Jacob thought about his choices for a while but decided if he joined either of them he'd rather be with Veronica. Not due to her status as not only a general but because of her uniqueness. She did not excel in magic nor swordsmanship, however, the way she mixed the two together is what made her a fearsome general. One that not only could take command and control the battlefield but also one who could hold her own against the masses.
If this was not a dream and some other world, then he needed to align himself with her.
Yet, Jacob did not know where to begin. A player would be given a few starting quests before they stepped into the world all on their own. He did not.
There was no telling if she was out doing the duties shes been given or if she was stationed at her fort.
With no clear location in mind, Jacob walked on and on until he came across a scene.
What stood before him was a large building that stood four stories high. Made of brick and built like a palace, with walkways that seemed to shine under the sun. Teens his age or older walked along the pathways happily chatting with their weapons slung over their backs or held at their waist.
A large metal gate blocked anyone from entering and if one did have the guts to, they would first have to pass the two guards that wore pure slick silver armor with a golden cape flowing with the gentle breeze.
Jacob knew this place but he oddly forgot about it. When they were coming up with the history of the world, this place came into creation. It was never expanded on much as it did not even have a proper name.
Most things in the history of Pathfinder had yet to have a proper name. The majority of the names they came up with were place holders until their spiderweb of ideas started to connect.
This place was a holy site in this era but in the coming years, it would be anything but that. It was a knight academy, an academy that taught not only the skills of a knight but also the laws that were established since the founding of the empire.
Any aspiring citizen that wanted to work for the royal family tried their damndest to join the ranks of knights. Even a few of the generals in the realm emerged from this exact academy.
This place was a landmark but without knowing its exact history, Jacob couldn't figure out anything about the place. Sure he knew a few figures that emerged from this academy, he knew who the founder was. What he didn't know was what exactly was taught here, what laws, what form of swordsmanship, did they teach manners? A knight was an honorable title as such they were held in high regard.
He did not even know how one would be able to attend such a place. The finer details like this were never fleshed out, just an idea put on paper to be finished later. After all, what the players cared about was not the history but the current. Pathfinder sketched out the history as a foundation and built on it from there into the game it ended up being.
If a player wanted to know more about the history of the world they'd have to search for it through old ruins or the library, maybe even a hidden quest. Yet, one must remember the game was in beta so a lot of plans they had for the game were not released to the public. Considering the fact that they were still working on those features in the background.
One look at the place and Jacob could tell, he did not belong here. He was not cut out to be a knight and frankly, he did not want to be. Yet, deep in his mind, he felt a desire to step foot into the place and learn what they had to offer.

On the surface, the young emperor reigns while in the shadows the ministers are in actual control. An empire whose history spans five centuries now begins to crumble as the generals whose purpose is to protect the peace begin to fight each other instead. Underneath the surface, one ambitious man gathers the citizens who feel oppressed by the heavy taxation, food shortages, and threats of war. A rebellion begins to stir and soon, a rain of chaos shall begin.

In the midst of it all an orphan boy gets a second chance at life. Although, his life is not his own as it is inhabited by a video game developer. The same developer who has helped shape this world. Little did either of them know that their lives would never be the same.

Such a thing would normally only be useless knowledge as the categorization of the past seemed to be useless and could only be taken as a reference for the future and the present, yet there was something that made it exciting for Fraser. 

'It can't be… Does the AI Chip have this function? So easy?' 

Fraser starred at the information that was projected into his head. 

The information was about the purpose of the ruin that he was in it. 

There was only some general information that seemed to not interest the author of the books and only deemed it as some part of common knowledge. 

It talked about the <Pathfinder> of the citadel. It was an object that allowed for mass production of fighters for the former glorious civilization. 

Fraser bestowed the term "Ancient Magi" to the once glorious civilization. 

It would give each Acolyte that reached Level 2 a path to follow. 

According to the information, in general, they were weaker than their fellow acolytes that found their own destined path, but some ended up following the wrong path and at least the path that the pathfinder chooses was suitable for the acolyte. 

'I need to find this Pathfinder. Perhaps it still works?' 

Seeing the information, a desire to start searching for this pathfinder in this exact moment popped into Fraser's mind. 

But he continued to look for the information on the Pathfinder. 

And he wasn't disappointed as more information appeared on Pathfinders. 

Apparently they would send the spirit to a plane that particularly suited their spirit. Then, the spirit would be soaked in the attribute and give them a certain power-up and attribute. 

Thus, the acolyte would advance to Rank 1 Magi and would have to choose his Pillars spell models according to the attribute. 

This was a process that some acolytes used to advance in the period of the Ancient Magi. This Citadel was one of the centers for the Pathfinder method. 

Though it wasn't the only way to advance to a Magi.  

Many would dare to tread the path of true magi and choose their own path. 

Although the few people that followed the path to the end became powerhouses, according to the many people who lost themselves on the path of truth it wasn't an easy one. So it was a path that people who weren't sure in themselves never took or people who knew their limits. 

At least according to the books. 

Fraser knew his limits. He wasn't some genius that was found once in an era. Though he would strive for more as long as he could get it. And everything was possible. 

Besides, it is way easier to rely on the shoulders of the past. 

The Pathfinder method wasn't one of the worst methods to advance, it was dangerous as the spirit could die in its travel, but the power attributed to the spirit was nice and it would allow for an almost clear path to a certain Rank of Magi. 

It was different for everyone so Fraser simply decided to search for the Pathfinder and still read the different methods to advance to a Rank 1 Magi. 

The most-simple way was to use a catalyst and choose a pillar spell model to his desires. One needed to be an acolyte level 3

Another one was to get a bloodline, it would give a pillar spell the same to the being of the transplanted bloodline. It was considered to be the most powerful, in the short term, but there were shackles after a certain time and it would hinder them. 

The rest sounded interesting, but Fraser didn't have the method to any of those. 

For example, elementization to a certain element, transplanting stronger parts, whether biological or mechanical didn't matter, as well as certain truths like runes or enlightenments. 

'The transplanting path is a devil circle, how do I acquire parts of stronger creatures when I need them to be able to kill them? It makes no sense.' 

After finishing most of the information regarding advancement to Rank 1 Magi, Fraser now knew how his future would look. 

If he survived until that moment. 

'What should I choose for a Pillar spell model? The information said that picking one is essential for the future, according to the books every spell model can be regarded as a Pillar spell model. The only thing you have to do is choose. But which spell model should accompany me and get stronger with me?' 

The pillar spell was a spell model that was like a pillar to the respected Magi. Similar to a better weapon, it was a spell model that was way cheaper than average spell models on the same level and had some effect on the spirit as it bounded with it. 

But the most important thing was that the pillar spell mode would grow with the Magi. 

Fraser couldn't picture a spell model that would grow, nevertheless he accepted the information as truth and decided that the majority of the important information this library could offer was already exhausted. 

The rest of the library contained novels, tons of previous records with different viewpoints, biographies of different people like nobles, peasants, acolytes that seemed to have nothing better to do and a large number of books that described plants, herbs, fruits, animals, beasts, monster, fish and many more. 

Each with a detailed picture, the common name, the history of the respected item, its usefulness, its counters and much more. 

Since Fraser trusted the AI to recognize most of the herbs he would encounter in the future, he didn't have to learn the knowledge himself. He only had to ask the massive database of the AI. 

So the exploration of Fraser continued. His next step was to look at the rooms that his workers found interesting. 

On his way to the upper floors, Fraser bypassed a hallway that seemed to house the acolytes in it. 

Fraser only commanded a worker to look through the rooms before walking upwards. 

The hallway that was made of white stone seemed to appear way more ancient than it should. 

Dust lied on the decorations that adorned the hallway. Half broken statues of humans stood on the walls. A torn picture reminded Fraser how glamorous the past should have been. 

After walking around the upper floors for a while, Fraser found nothing. 

Something that looked like a laboratory was completely empty besides the machinery that were covered in rust and dust. 

Sadly, the machinery was completely covered in rust and even the components inside couldn't be used anymore. 

Walking through the upper floors gave Fraser a decent understanding of the ancient Magi culture. 

Marble-like stone was used to build the walls, the floors, and statues. 

Even doors built out of wood had a certain ancient feeling about them and withstood aging very well. 

Fraser passed by different experiment sides, halls that were probably used for training, some halls that looked like a lecture side and apparently some garden that didn't survive the disappearance of sunlight very well as it was completely barren. 

Even though the workers of him already crawled through the places, they could only send basic information like edible, not dangerous, interesting and enemy. 

The look and former culture of the ancient Magi weren't told with the reports. 

A sense of powerlessness filled Fraser as he watched the ruins of the ancient Magi. 

Even the outpost of the howling abyss academy couldn't reach a single floor of this casern of the ancient magi. 

And as the information of the AI got more updated, more and more barracks seemed to be mentioned. Some with different names, others with different focusses and others simply being next to this one. 

The next one was completely out of the book as one of the books told the actual distance. Apparently being next to each other meant the use of a teleportation platform. 

This allowed Fraser to finally understand how vast the ancient Magi civilization was. As teleportation platforms were deemed as large logistic achievements in the eyes of the howling abyss academy. 

They even wrote that a certain distance needed to be gathered in order to even use the teleportation platform to a satisfying degree. 

Or else the platform wouldn't be lucrative.

Someone transmigrated into the body of a noble that was on his way to become a Magi. His only keepsake, an AI-Chip that had the ability to calculate and store information. Thus, follow the journey of Fraser Rosethorn.

They will have the power to gain superhuman power more than an ordinary mortal could achieve. However, their ambition didn't stop there. Because they wanted to step into a higher realm, which is called Pathfinder. At the time you stepped on this realm, one could sense the Heaven and Earth Qi and adapted them into their body and releasing them, and finally the Apex of Mortal Realm, the Martial Master. Whoever steps into this realm is respected across the Thirteen Cities that is ruled by the Moon Empire. Martial Master is able to control their Spiritual Energy much better and able to float in the sky for several breaths. Of course, this only applied to those Peak Martial Master that are half-step into Immortal Establishment (Foundation Establishment). 

In short, the three great mortal realm are namely called.

Qi Refinement: 1-3 Layer - Seeker (Power Enhancing), 4-6 Layer - Pathfinder (True Qi, Release of Qi), 7-9 Layer - Martial Master (Better Control, Able to Fly for a short period of time.) And the legendary realm, Foundation Establishment, which is rare in the mortal world. Because only a few of the strong powerhouses of Sect and Ancient Clan have reached this realm and they're the strongest individual in the Thirteen Cities.

"Hmph! How could that trash thought he was able to soar in the sky with his puny talent? What did he say? Stepping Stone? Laughable, This trash was a really ambitious one, yet, mediocre. Hmph! I will let him feel pain and pay respect to Mount Tai." Wang Peng said indifferently. In his heart, Lu Chen was only a lowborn race that's destined to be a Mortal in his entire life so he didn't treat him as much threat to him, his focus on was the top disciple in the outer sect and compete for the Outer Disciple Competition.

Lu Chen stepped inside the Forest and smelled the air of blood that was hovering the surrounding, which makes it a very risky and dangerous place to wander. Regardless of the danger, Lu Chen still stepped inside the forest.

He was here to forge his path and try his luck. Why would he get easily be scared of a fresh blood?

Without hesitation on his determined face. Lu Chen stepped inside the Cloud Demon Forest.

Roaarrrrrr!!! an earth-shattering roar resounds across the lush 
plains. Zeke stood there aghast, frozen by the ghastly beast before his eyes. It was over five meters tall and three meters wide. It 
looked like a boar but had the head of a bull and skin like a rhinoceros. Two sickle like horns extended from the top of its head nearly a meter long. The most frightening thing to Zeke though 
were its eyes. Eyes so terrifying they could pierce through to his soul.

It was a c ranked monster, a demon boar. As he stood there petrified in horror, soaked in his own sweat. He couldn't take his eyes of those three blood red eyes that were arranged in the shape of a triangle. As Zeke stood there trembling uncontrollably a fowl stench came out of the creatures mouth and hit his nose making his insides turn Zeke had only one thought whilst face to face 
with his untimely demise. ' fuckkkk!! I hate you Karry. Even if I die ill still make sure my ghost will haunt you from the afterlife.' He couldn't help but think to himself 'why did I ever let you 
bring me here? Screw riches, fuck treasures….what use is all that shit if I'm dead?'

Early morning, the sun shone down upon the near barren hillside. This hill was situated on the edge of a small Village in the Leyman empire. The Leyman Empire, built nearly five hundred years ago was constructed after hundreds of pathfinders explored and cleared out the dangers in a large area around the endless forest. This was an operation that took over thirty years to finish and cost not only millions of gold leys but also cost the lives of hundreds of pathfinders. In fact never again since the founding of the empire has such a large operation been undertaken.It was a giant project that took decades to accomplish but eventually the Leyman empire rose up and it has existed ever since.  On a corner of the hill was a small crop field. Although the hill was nearly void of any vegetation, in this small crop field various types of grains, fruits and vegetables could be found.

 These crops thrived with life serving as a testament to the farmer's great skill with plants and agriculture. In the middle of the field stood a muscular and sweaty youth with short curly 
hair, hazel eyes and slightly tan skin. He was around 1.8 meters tall with a fit build. The youthwalked through the fields occasionally stopping to check on some crops, a happy grin plastered to his face every time he did.

After making his rounds he turned towards his small but comfortable house and made his way over. As he was about to enter his house he heard a piercing voice in the distance. "Zeke! 
Zeeekkkeee!! Wait up". Zeke paused and looked towards the direction of the voice. After a while a figure could be seen coming over the hill. She was thin, and had short golden hair that stopped at her ears.
 
Her eyes were a deep blue color and she had fair skin. she ran closer and closer until she stopped in front of Zeke with a giant grin of satisfaction. Even without speaking Zeke could tell from her 
expression what she was clearly thinking 'I'm truly amazing aren't I hahahahaha.'   

Zeke rolled his eyes and knowingly took her bait asking. "ohh Karry, what has you so happy this early?" Karry's grin miraculously got even wider as she reached into her breast pocket and pulled out a round button the size of a small fist. The button seemed to be made of bronze or copper. It was engraved with a picture of a forest in the center. On the left side of the forest lay a barren desert and on the right side was a milky white sea.

 Behind the forest stood an all-black mountain that resembled a piece of obsidian that was so incomparably tall it seemed to hold up the sky.  Right on top of the forest was a small letter f. 
Karry suddenly spoke. "it's pretty awesome right"? she said fishing for approval. 

Zeke starred at the button confused. "uhh, sure I guess. What is it". Karry suddenly lost her bright smile. "are you.., really? It's the insignia of the Pathfinders. This is the proof that I finally 
became a Pathfinder" "whaaatt? A pathfinder hahaha you finally succeeded? I guess all those years of failure finally paid off?" Zeke said mockingly. 

"humph, let me tell you, with this a new door has opened up for me. I'll finally be able to explore the desolate lands, the door leading to riches, treasures and power has finally come my way. It's 
amazing, right?"

Zeke let out a sigh and responded "congratulations Karry, you can finally begin your life as an adventurer." "ahahaha yes yes, the road to glory awaits." She looked at Zeke and said. "don't 
worry Zeke you can come with me. We shall embark on the road to riches and fame together."Zeke promptly shook his head. " uhh no thank you, I'm happy with my life as it is. Bedsides I'm 
not a pathfinder how can I go to such deadly places?"

"Zeke…you live on a barren piece of land all alone, how can you be happy? Look with this insignia I can take you on my adventures. Think about it, wealth, fame, glory,  treasures, it can all be 
yours. I've just got to register you as my helper and the rest is history" karry looked expectantly at Zeke. 

"come on Zeke, it's always been just us two against the world. Whether it was surviving in the slums or escaping danger we always did it together. You're not going to let me do this, 
alone are you? Plus I promise I'll definitely protect you so you don't have to worry about the dangers." she stares pleadingly at Zeke " pleeease"

Zeke does his best to stay strong but after a brief period of consideration he looks into Karry's eyes and he finally gives in. "You're so annoying" he mumbles "fine, I'll go with you but only after the harvest period in a few months, I can't leave my babies until then."

Karry exciterdly yells " yayyyy, that's fine I still have a lot of stuff to purchase before we can go. We'll need a storage sack, some weapons, The monster index and other necessities I have to earn a few more gold leys before i can buy them." After expressing her happiness Karry looked to the skies and yelled "look out world, the greatest adventuring team in history has just been made. Riches, treasures, fame, here we come!"Zeke thought for a moment then asked, "by the way, where exactly will we be heading?"

"ah, I forgot to tell you. Once you register to be a pathfinder there are four sectors you can choose from" she pointed to the forest on the badge "you can choose to explore the endless 
forest, the scorched plains, the nether mountain, or the jade sea. Each area has their own respective dangers but they also have different treasures and different reasons that make them 
attractive to pathfinders" she paused for a moment, as if waiting for him to digest all the information before she continued. "the f above the forest means that I'm an f ranked pathfinder 
belonging to the endless forest faction."

Zeke took in the information then asked "wait, f ranked?"
" uhuh" Karry patiently explained like a teacher to her student " there are ranks assigned to each pathfinder which essentially summarizes their strength, abilities and achievements. It also helps 
in the distribution of missions so a weak pathfinder isn't given a task that's basically impossible for them to complete. The monsters and certain areas are also classified according to this rank. 
The ranks range from f, which is the weakest all the way to SS which is the strongest.Zeke chuckled as he heard this "so essentially you're at the bottom of the ladder?"

Karry proudly retorted as if she wasn't affected by his mocking laugh. "for now, yes, but by exploring new areas and discovering new species of plants and monsters I can increase my ranking."

"ok you braggart I get it now, so we'll be heading to the endless forest, right? Is it dangerous?"

"of course," she immediately responded "but compared to the milky sea which has thousands of different types of monsters, the impossible to ascend nether mountain and the nearly uninhabitable scorched plains it's mildly less dangerous"

Zeke released a depressing sigh "I see, well that being the case I changed my mind, I'm not going"

"come on zeke pleaseeeeeee" 

Zeke tried to resist but after a few moments of looking at that childlike face he couldn't help but give in. "fine but if I die just know that my ghost will haunt you for all eternity"
" yaaaayyyy" she excitedly screamed. The duo made their way over to Zeke's house and continued their conversation on the way.

And that was how the greatest pathfinder team in history began their journey, though neither of them realized the impact they would have on the world in the days to come.

Zeke stared at the ferocious beast in front of him. He noticed the cuts on its body and blood dripping from its wounds. It was obvious the demon boar had just been in a fight prior to their meeting. As he was panicking and lost in thought he finally heard Karry's voice.

 " Zeke!..Zeke! don't just stand there,..run!" Zeke finally managed to snap back to reality. He was about to turn and run when the demon boar bent its mighty limbs and leaped at him with an 
open mouth fully exposing its numerous lengthy and shark like teeth. Zeke quickly rolled to the side. He reached for his waist and pulled his sword out of its scabbard. Karry watched in horror as the demon boar lunged at Zeke.

 She quickly grabbed her spear and madly rushed at the demon boar while yelling  "ahhhhhh" she thrust it towards one of the demon boars eyes. It turned its head to the side and used one of its horns to parry the spear knocking it to the side. "tink" the sound of metal colliding resounded through the forest as the spear flew out her hands. 

The demon boar released a fierce roar and shook its head. Suddenly, series of scorching flames blew out Its nose. Its four hoofs began to glow bright red leaving a fiery imprint everywhere it passed. "shit" Karry realized what was happening "Zeke run, it's about to use its magic." The duo turned and escaped into the distance, they didn't make it very far when they felt an intense heat on their backs. Whoosh, a giant ball of flame quickly rushed towards them. They quickly dove to the side barely avoiding this life stealing flame.

 Zeke looked behind them to see the demon boar still chasing. He quickly searched his surroundings for something that could help. After a moment, he spotted a cliff about thirty meters away. He hurriedly informed Karry. 

"Karry look, there's a cliff lets run over there. Maybe there's a stream we can jump into." Without a second thought they both got up and resumed fleeing in terror. The more they ran the 
closer the demon boar got. "damn it" Karry spat out in frustration"why the hell is a c rankedmonster in an f ranked  area? This doesn't make any sense" she reached into her storage sack and pulled out a metal ball. 

"this is meant for rank e or lower monsters but hopefully it can slow it down for a bit." She turned around and threw the ball at its legs then continued running without waiting to see the 
results. 

As the metal ball closed in on the demon boar it suddenly opened up and split into dozens of small metal balls that hit its hoofs. "Boooom!"  the sounds of explosions resounded throughout the forest as the balls exploded upon impact. The force from the explosion caused the demon boar that was running to be briefly knocked of balance falling on its side. The demon boar immediately got up again. Although unhurt by the explosion it was clear to see how incensed it currently was. It released a loud roar and continued to chase after the two.

 The brief fall of the demon boar provided just enough time for Zeke and Karry to reach the cliff. As they looked over the side of the cliff their hearts quickly sunk. The cliff was about fifty
meters from the ground and below was nothing besides rocks and boulders. They're hope of finding a stream to dive in was immediately diminished. 

As they stood there with their only chance of survival now gone dread immediately filled they're hearts. As hopelessness and despair washed over them Karry began sob quietly. "Sniff sniff Zeke, I'm sorry I made you come with me, now we're both going to die just because I wanted to find some treasures" Zeke looked at his friend from childhood as she silently sobbed. 

 He let out a warm and calming smile "it's ok, you didn't make me come I choose to come on my own. Besides we may not exactly be dying today. If I remember correctly then according to the 
monster index the reason such a dangerous savage beast like the demon boar is  ranked c and not higher is because it lacks intelligence, right?" as he spoke Zeke looked at the bottom of the cliff then observed the demon boar that was getting closer and closer.
 
Karry suddenly understood what he meant she let out a smile and said "yes, that's right its actually, really dumb. Could it be you want to trick it?" Zeke gave her a nod then spoke "wait till It gets closer, when I tell you to, quickly jump towards the side." The two firmly agreed on the plan and waited for the demon boar. 

Time seemed to slow down as they waited, their hearts were beating faster and faster, getting louder and louder until it seemed like the only sound in the world. Ten meters, eight, five, three 
as it passed the three-meter line Zeke immediately yelled "jump" the duo promptly rolled to the sides. Shocked the demon boar tried to stop but its fast speed coupled with its large size and 
weight caused it to be unable to reduce its overwhelming momentum.
 
The demon boar stumbled over its legs as it rolled over the cliff falling head first. Bang!! The sound of a large impact echoed throughout the endless forest as the beast crashed into a huge 
bolder, its head immediately shattering it into pieces.

 The two stared in amazement at the crippled beast for a moment before Karry immediately reacted "quick, we have to find something to throw at it. We've got to kill it before it recovers." After a few minutes of searching they managed to find large rocks and several stones which they hurled at the demon boar. After nearly an hour of using the demon boar as target practice the once mighty roars of it's turned into desperate whines of mercy and eventually it ceased to make any sounds or movements. "hahahahahah, we did it, we actually managed to kill a rank c monster" karry excitedly spoke. 

After escaping the clutches of death, she immediately regained her carefree and cheerful attitude. "We have to hurry down there, the demon boar is a treasure trove. Its horns, Skin, tendons they're 
all worth a lot of gold leys. Oh, and it's magic core too. Zeke that's a magic core of a c ranked monster…a c ranked magic core! do you have any idea how much it's worth?" Zeke shook his head as he watched Karry loose herself in her thoughts. 

He was sure that her eyes had turned to gold coins as she stared at the dead beast. A magic core is essentially calcified magic power. Certain creatures are able to manipulate the world's energy and use it to attack. When enough of the world's energy is gathered it forms into a solid shape inside the monster. The higher ranked the monster is the more energy is in the core which increases the worth of the core significantly. An f ranked pathfinder getting a c ranked magic core is nothing more than a pipe dream. From this it can be understood why karry was so excited.They searched the forest and managed to find some tough vines. After finding one that was long enough they scaled the cliff and made their way down.

Enter a brand new world, the likes of which has never been seen before. A world where spine tingling danger lurks around every corner. where ruthless, heartless and blood thirsty mercenaries thrive. A world where savage beasts and monstrous creatures roam free and unhindered. Two friends find themselves in a deadly situation with little to no hope of survival. Over powered ,out numbered and lost in a strange place the only thing the duo can rely on to survive are their wits and each other. Will Zeke and Karry be able to make it out of the endless forest alive? Journey into the world of Pathfinders and find out the answer for yourself.

The group of three had traveled towards the end of the gazetted trail and were prepared to start the last stretch of trekking to the nearest aborigine village. By this time, Arash had been sweating buckets. He didn't feel so good as they had exceeded the time he had budgeted for the one-way trip by two-hours. He was skeptical that they could reach the village with another three-hours' time as proposed by the guides.

"Check all of your equipment. Last round." 

Rob turned to his client to make sure he was fully prepared. He wasn't worried about his colleague, Mat. Mat was the best pathfinder from their small community of off-road adventuring. What made him worried was his well-off client; they had noticed that he had a slight limp on his right leg. His client must have injured himself before and was considered unfit for hard-core trekking. 

However, he had thought things through, and for him the three hours of trekking was really not considered harsh. He would be fine with a light pace and ample rest. Additionally, the urgency shown by his client was genuine. He believed that his client indeed had an important matter to attend to in the aborigine village. He might be a researcher of some kind; they always had this stern and worried look plastered on their faces 24/7. Rob had assisted a few such professionals, and four out of five of these people had no basics in jungle-trekking, just like his current client. 

Both Arash and Mat gave a solid nod before they walked into the forest in a single file. Mat led the way, followed by Arash, and their rear was guarded by Rob. They moved with caution along a nonexistent trail, assisted by their GPS tracker, a compass, and a map, a mix of analog and digital technology, while Arash struggled to learn and adapt as much as he can. Their shadows disappeared in between thick foliage and gnarled roots.

Loud sounds of cicada had reached a crescendo at the moment as the sun had reached its peak. Although it was already noon, the forest floor was dim due to the never-ending canopy shielding off the harsh tropical sun. Arash and his two guides had trudged through the dimly lit forest for an hour by now. The nearer they were to their destination, all three of them similarly felt more positive. Although to Arash, the surroundings were just the same, he had noticed that the two guides could seemingly find all the nonexistent landmarks only known to them.

"Ah, finally, we've reached the ancient Chengal tree. It's still as majestic as always." Mat commented while watching upwards, most probably trying to see through the gaps of the lush leaves. The tree was slightly larger than the rest, with a circumference of six men holding each other's hand to completely surround it. To Arash, all the trees looked just the same. He couldn't appreciate the beauty of the foliage from thinking about his daughters and wife to adjusting his labored breathing. His lungs felt like burning. He was so exhausted but couldn't find the words to tell his two guides since they were just breathing lightly and at ease. Arash lamented on how he should hit the gym more often after this if he intended to do more outdoor activities such as this in the future.

"True. From this point, we're a quarter in. Just a little more, Mr. Arash." Rob turned to Arash to encourage him. Arash was panting heavily.

"A quarter only?" He sighed. [Does it mean there are three more hours of trekking left?!] He clearly remembered that Rob had said it should be 3-hour trekking previously.

"This is considered quite good. We have a policy to reduce the pace to accommodate beginners in trekking." Rob smiled and worded his sentence politely to inform that they were a little behind schedule due to the client himself.

Understanding dawned on Arash's face as he nodded with acceptance, "Ah, I see. I'm grateful for your kind consideration." He really couldn't go any faster. He could feel a slight elevation during their excursion, which was pretty bad for his right leg. He had silently endured the discomfort and pain along the way.

Rob realized the pale facial feature of his client wasn't getting any better even after the short pause. He decided to help the guy out. "Let's stop here for 15 minutes to catch our breath, alright?"

Arash was resting over a large tree trunk covered in moss while trying his best to withstand the pain; he couldn't be bothered with the annoying sounds surrounding him. Arash's injured knee was hurting badly. He was totally alone at the moment.

Arash sighed helplessly while feeling at a loss of what to do.

Due to carelessness, he had lost his footing and fallen down after his right leg was stuck in between a particularly unnoticeable pit beside a tree root a while ago. 

The worst thing was, the pit was actually the home of a frightening large snake! The ferocious snake lashed at him immediately due to his intrusion. Mat, who was walking in front of him had reflexively pushed him to the side to save him and was bitten on his leg! Although Rob had managed to kill the snake in the end, Mat was in a critical condition. 

Arash watched Rob performing first aid for his colleague with a lump in his throat as he couldn't move due to the intense pain. A myriad of emotions had gone by his mind at the moment, mainly predominated by guilt, helplessness, and remorse. 

[What am I doing?! Hurting others like this?] He was starting to doubt his decision to come into this forest.

After doing as much as he can for his colleague, Rob went up to Arash and rolled up Arash's right pants and was met with a purplish bruise. His client's knee had swell so bad, it must have been hurting even before he fell. His face turned ugly. This was a really bad-looking sprain. Although Arash was not making any sounds, the beads of sweat flowing and the rapid breathing indicated that he was in immense pain. He immediately sprayed a coolant on the injured part. 

"I can't do much, Mr. Arash. We should be able to find some ice in the aborigine village ahead to lessen your bruised knee. However, at the moment, I don't think you could move and follow my pace. I'll be frank. I've removed the venom crudely from Mat's calf, but he truly needs immediate medical attention. We should be able to get it in the aborigine village. I'm not even sure whether we could reach the aborigine village in time to save Mat. So, I really need to hike as fast as I can while piggybacking Mat. I'm very very sorry Mr. Arash! We need to go first. Please let me!" Rob lowered his head in guilt. But he needed to do this for Mat's sake. Between the two, Mat's condition was time-sensitive. He had to leave his injured client in favor of saving his colleague's life.

"Just go. It's all my fault, anyway. But please send someone over afterward." Arash lamented his bad luck. How could he not see the poor pathfinder's terrible condition? 

Gratitude and guilty gushed out from within Rob. But he hardened his heart for his colleague's sake. 

"The village is not that far anymore, Mr. Arash. You have two choices, either wait for help here or walk slowly to the village by yourself. Just open your compass. Follow this way straight. It's alright even if you're slow, you will reach the village soon, at the previous pace, it'll be no more than 30 minutes. You might need more than one hour with your knee's condition. Don't worry, we will ask for the villagers' help to fetch you as soon as we reach the village!"

"Okay. You guys go ahead. I guess I will walk slowly to save some time. As I said, please send someone to meet up with me as soon as possible, alright." Arash painfully stood up and smiled weakly to them. 

With the parting words, Arash's two guides vanished rapidly in between the lush greeneries.

Arash felt pain everywhere as he tried to move. Even if it was at a snail's pace, as long as he was walking, he was sure that there will be some progress.

How lucky that the first encounter his wife had with a snake was with a docile one? They were even so chummy now until it made him slightly jealous. That's one in a billion chance. How he wished he had the same luck.

Rob's heart lightened when the aborigine village entered his view. He immediately called for assistance from the villagers. Droves of bronze bare-chested men in shorts laced with dried leaves came over to help the two. Rob immediately told the villagers that they had another one en route, who was also injured, but not severely, which needed assistance to reach the village. The village representative immediately dispatched two men to search for Rob's client and lead him to the village.

Seeing how accommodating the villagers were to them, he felt so gratified. They even took him to meet the resident doctor stationing on the west side of their village. With the dead snake as a reference, the doctor had then procured an antivenom for Mat in time. Only God knows how fast Rob had walked while piggybacking Mat, he was practically running! Now, only time was needed to see whether the antivenom could work its magic.

A soft knock resounded outside the dilapidated hut, which had been turned into a medical center. The head of the village representative poked in as he signaled Rob to come out.

"Yes? Did you find Mr. Arash? He should be very near to the village already." Rob immediately inquired about Arash from the village representative.

"That's the problem, Mr. Robbie. We couldn't find anyone of your description. So we had sent more villagers to look out for the person a little further out. It might take some time. He must have veered off the path to our village."

Color disappeared from Rob's face as he was imagining the possibility of his client dying on his watch due to negligence. Colorful expletives threatened to spill out, but he tried his best not to be impolite in front of the village representative, Pak Jaya.

"I'll join you in your search. At least I could go to the exact location from before we separated."

"That will be best. We have excellent trackers to help out. We will find him sooner or later, dead or alive."
