"Grandma. You need not be sad about that. You would get to watch his movie in this room also. Today John said me that he has prepared a screen for you and mother to watch it here. So don't worry. You will not miss anything."Zinu said with a smile.
" Really. I would like to watch a movie here. Thank you Zinu."Mrs Smith said happily.
"Grandma, you need not thank me," Zinu replied.                   John knew that his grandmother would like to watch Ronnie's movie. So he prepared everything beforehand. He knew that his grandma will be sad if she could not watch the movie, on which her great-grandson has sung the songs. So, ordered Me Han to prepare a screen for the show.
                  In the afternoon, in Smith Manor, Ronnie was hoping like a little bunny, who got his desired food. Ronnie was waiting for others in the living room. He was calling everyone to come quickly so that they can go early. Zinu and John came downstairs.
" Ronnie, you should eat something properly before go there. You have not eaten anything properly till morning."Zinu told Ronnie.
             Ronnie was overexcited since morning, so he even could not eat properly. Zinu was worried for him, as he may be fell ill. So, she was trying to feed him. But she could not feed him.
"Mom. Today I am not feeling hungry at all. Please, mom, let me go ." 
              Zinu wanted to tell something, but John stopped her. John knew that it was not possible for them to feed him now.
"Zinu, don't worry. I will take him to the restaurant after the movie. He would also like to celebrate this day. Is it ok Ronnie?" He asked Ronnie.
"Yes, dad. I would love to. Where are grandma and grandpa? We should leave now. It's already time." Ronnie said impatiently.
         Both Zinu and John smiled at their son. He looked too cute in his simple white t-shirt and three quarters.
"We are here my dear grandchild." Mr Wilson said with a smile. Ronnie smiled at them.
"Ok. Now everyone. Now let's go. Please remember, although we are going to different cars, our seats are together in the hall. You remember not to remove your mask. Ok?" John said.
"Ok. Let's go." Mr Wilson said and everyone left the house.
         They used small cars to avoid attention. Dolly and Charlie also joined them. They wore masks on the face, so nobody could recognise them.
            The movie started. It was a kid's movie. The story of the movie was like, a five years boy saved his sister from drowning during a flood, but his other family members had lost in the flood. In the story, the boy struggled to survive in all the harsh conditions and at last his parents came back to their home after six months. There were a total of five songs in the movie and Ronnie sang all the songs. He had a few dialogues also.
           Everyone praised the acting of the little boy and the songs Ronnie had sung in the movie. Every kid who listened to the songs became a fan of Ronnie. Everyone was discussing, how the songs had sung by the singer.
             Ronnie was very happy to hear the comments they were giving to the singer. The small children who were there started singing the songs from the movie.
            John, Zinu and everyone present there were felt proud of Ronnie.
"Ronnie my child congratulations! Now it's a celebration time. Let's go to a restaurant of your choice ." John said happily.
"Yes, dad.Le's go."Ronnie replied and they happily left the movie hall 
          Mrs Smith was also very happy to watch the movie. She got emotional to see the scenes, as the childhood of John came to her mind. She wiped her tears and called John to congratulate Ronnie. Alicia also loved the movie. Ronnie sang all the songs very beautifully.
           Next day, John again visited Tonny Heck. He was now better than before. John spoke with the doctors and left the hospital.
            Zinu and Dolly again started their searching. That day they decided to study the diaries they got from Oliver Smith's library. They started to study each letter, each word very carefully. They hoped today to got some important clues. They completed the first two diaries but got nothing. It was already afternoon when they took the third diary. It 's also was written by Oliver Smith, during his last days of life. The other two was written not many more days before. They could get nothing in the diaries.
             When Zinu and Dolly were reading the content of the last diary, suddenly something popped in Zinu's mind. What if he has some more diaries? Because, if he had the habit of writing diaries, then he must write before Also.
" Dolly. I think grandpa has written some more diaries also. These three diaries he wrote only a few months before his death. What about the previous ones? He maybe wrote something earlier also. I think we should search for for the previous diaries also. Isn't it?"Zinu asked Dolly.
Dolly thought for a minute. She nodded her head. Yes, it is possible.
"Zinu, you are correct. He must have written diaries before also. But here are only three diaries. Where has gone the previous ones? We must find out that."Dolly replied.
"Dolly, I think we should talk to grandma about this. Only she can give us a proper reply to these. Will we go to the hospital now?"
Dolly yawned.
"No, Zinu.I am very tired today. I  am feeling like sleeping. I think we should wait. Tomorrow she would be released from the hospital. We can ask her tomorrow. I think I should call Charlie and go home."
"Yes. You are correct. But why are feeling so tired? We had not done too much searching. Today, you also did not take your food properly. Are you fine?" Zinu asked worriedly.
"Yes dear, I am fine. I am just getting tired easily these days. I also lost my appetite. I think changing weather is the reason behind this. You don't worry. I will be fine after a nap." Dolly replied.

After walking out from the first room of Jiu Hong Apartments Block 2, Chen Ge turned back to look. The door had the number 0097 on it. The number on the door was identical to the patient's number jotted down inside the diary entry.
"There is no fixed arrangement of the numbering of the rooms in this building. From my observation, they do not appear to be arranged according to the floors that they are on. But it should be the case where every room here corresponds to one of the patients from the cursed hospital."
Chen Ge turned to look at the second room on the first floor. The number for this room was 0049.
"At the cursed hospital, the lower your number, the more serious your illness is deemed to be. That means that the room that I just visited belong to a patient who suffered from a mild illness."
Chen Ge walked to the door of the second room on the first floor. Once again, he leaned on the window and looked through it. The interior of Room 0049 was also mainly white. The furniture and wallpaper were all white, giving it a very clean finish. The door was not locked, so Chen Ge walked in directly.
"Hey! I don't think we should wander into people's rooms. We might get chased out by people again like how in Block 1." For now, Xiao Sun just wanted to survive safely until dawn. What had happened that night was indeed a bit hard to swallow for a 'normal person' like himself.
Chen Ge ignored Xiao Sun.
As he entered the room, he was ready to use Yin Yang Vision when he suddenly felt lightheaded. It felt like the world had suddenly given way underneath his feet.
My body seems to be weakening due to the multiple uses of Yin Yang Vision.
Every time Chen Ge used Yin Yang Vision, it would cause a certain amount of pressure on his body. Chen Ge had never noticed this before, but in this world behind the door, he could feel the damage brought upon by the Yin Yang Vision very clearly. Every time he used Yin Yang Vision, his body temperature would experience a very slight change.
"Chen Ge, are you okay?" He felt someone hold him by his elbow. Chen Ge turned back to look and realized that Wen Qing had moved to stand beside him. This mother was a good caretaker.
"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."
To give himself a break, Chen Ge stopped using his talents like Yin Yang Vision, Spirit Sniff, and Ghost Ear. This meant that the world around them was soon enveloped in darkness, and the only source of light in the room came from Wen Qing's phone.
After closing the door behind them, Chen Ge dragged Doctor Skull Cracker's Hammer as he walked around the room. Out of his expectations, he found nine diaries inside Room 0049. The material for each diary and their cover looked identical, and the patient's number for all nine diaries was 0049. With unbridled curiosity, Chen Ge flipped through the diaries one by one, and he realized that the content of all the diaries had little variation to them. They were practically the same.
"Why would the patient inside Room 0049 record the same thing nine times?"
After Chen Ge gave them a closer read, he slowly understood the reasoning behind it. Even though the content of these nine diaries was the same, the tone and angle of description for the events that transpired were wildly different. In other words, the diaries gave the impression that there were nine different people inside this room describing the same thing that occurred from nine different perspectives. None of the nine diaries had the date written down anywhere. If he just read one of them, he would have been utterly confused by its entries. But when he placed all of the diaries together and read them at the same time, he made a startling discovery.
"These nine diaries should be written by one single person." Chen Ge laid all nine diaries on the ground and turned them all to the first page.
The first diary: "A new patient just arrived at the hospital. Its patient's number was blocked off. Its body was wrapped in bandages used for dead bodies, so you could not see its face at all. This is all so mysterious. I stood at the window and looked for half an hour. The doctors appeared to be hesitating which sickroom to place the new patient in."
The second diary: "It has been so long since this floor has welcomed a new patient. My big brother told me to mind my own business. He has gotten so old that he has become afraid of even the smallest thing. I swear I will never become someone like him when I grow up."
The third diary: "There are practically no empty rooms from Room 1 to Room 50. Which room do you think they will deposit the new patient in?"
The fourth diary: "I personally hope that it will move in together with us. Do you know how nauseous I feel because I have to face the eight of you day in and day out? What can I do to get away from you people? How about each of us pick a body part and then we can go our separate ways from there? That sounds like a good idea, right?"
The fifth diary: "Every one of you wants to claim the head. Obviously, that is unrealistic. I suggest we separate and split the body parts according to their weight. That is the fairest method."
The sixth diary: "Stop arguing! You b*stards that have taken over my home! I am the real Patient 0049! You bunch thieves! Madmen! Idiots! Crazies! Get out of my home!"
The seventh diary: "Sister Six has started her mad ravings again. Can any of you kindly make her shut up?"
The eighth diary: "Calm down now. Stop arguing. In terms of pathology, all nine of us are split personalities. There is no difference in superiority among the nine of us. We should see each other as an equal."
The ninth diary: "So tell me again, why did the nine of us agree to consume and tear up the main persona again? If we continue to split mentally like this, this room will only get more and more crowded."
Nine diaries represented nine different personalities. Just a skim through them caused Xiao Sun's skull to go numb, but Chen Ge appeared to have quite the blast reading through them.
"I feel like these nine diaries are random ramblings by a mad person. It is filled with crazy words. None of the content can be trusted." Xiao Sun had placed all his hope on Chen Ge. He was worried that Chen Ge might be influenced by these diaries.
"You think they are crazy, but they will mock you for being an idiot." Chen Ge knelt on the ground. By reading through the nine diaries again, he had a new discovery. "Patient 0049 suffers from schizophrenia, but his situation is rather unique because the personalities that he has created have somehow murdered the main persona, or to quote their own words, they have consumed the main persona."
"A persona can be consumed?"
"Well, I am no expert on that. Who knows? This might be a case where their main psychiatrist purposely planted this impression in their mind."
Chen Ge shook his head. The cursed hospital had no bottom line. Instead of treating their patients, they would often exacerbate the smallest psychological disorder into full on mental illness in their patients.
"All nine personas have their own background and experience. In fact, they have their own occupations and personalities. The eldest brother is the most cowardly and is a middle-aged man. The second brother is a lawyer. The third brother is a plumber. The fourth sister is a night club bartender with a horrible temper. The fifth brother is a murderer with an obsession for cleanliness. The sixth sister is a celebrity. The seventh sister is a piano teacher. The eighth brother is a psychiatrist. The ninth persona is the youngest and has the closest personality to the main persona."
"Are you reading these diaries as a story book? Brother, I do not need a narration of their lives. We'd better find a safe place to hide for now." Xiao Sun had a very bad feeling about this place. He felt like this place was far more dangerous than Block 1.
"There is no place that is one hundred percent safe behind the door. The only thing we can do is keep on moving, chasing after the weakest light we can find." Chen Ge sat on the sofa. Even after resting for so long, his physique had not only not recovered, he only felt much more tired. "The new patient stayed with them for nine days, and every day a persona of Patient 0049 would die. The further in the diary I read, the more despairing the entries became. On the ninth day, only one of the nine diaries was updated."
Chen Ge held the last diary. "The owner of this diary is the ninth persona, the youngest persona and the persona who is closest to the main persona. He wrote the last diary entry."
"x Year x Month x Day, I do not know whether the heaven the doctors speak of exists or not, but I know that there is definitely hell on earth because I have witnessed a living demon with my own two eyes.
"Yes, a demon has a face just like it. Its heart is completely demented, and it cannot express its emotions like a normal person. Or rather, it has no idea what an emotion is. To this demon, love is equal to death, and hope is no different from despair. It desires all the goodness in the world, but it will not stop throwing curses at everything. It will find some other ways to destroy those that it cannot obtain, and after it has obtained them, it will personally destroy them itself.
"Madness is too weak of a term to describe it. None of the vocabulary that the human race currently has is evil enough to describe someone like it!
"Now I finally understand why the doctors arranged for it to share a room with us inside Room 0049. The doctors wanted to see what kind of reaction they could get out of it after it murdered people with different identities. Before I met it, I always thought I was different from everyone else. There were nine family members living inside me. No matter how harsh the situation outside got, we would figure out a way to deal with it. We had a lawyer, a psychiatrist, a celebrity, and even a murderer among us. With our collective power, we were able to deal with most of the hardships that life could possibly throw at us. It was not until the new patient moved in with us that we realized how laughably weak we were.
"The new patient appears to have a superpower that is invincible. It burns the hatred, resentment, and pain inside its heart to create a curse. No matter how harmless this curse is, it will slowly turn into reality after a period of time.
"Once the seed of the curse is sown, it will never be broken. My big brothers and sisters died one after another. I saw them disappear in the agony of pain and despair like they were never a part of me to begin with. Today is the ninth day, and I know it will be my turn soon…"
The content of the nine diaries was quite a lot to go through, but in reality, they were all interconnected, and they were all pieces of the same puzzle. On the afternoon of the day the new patient moved in Room 0049, patient 0049 attempted to kill the new patient.
It was the latent murderer personality that put this plan into action. The reason was merely because he could not stand the horrible stench that reeked from the new patient. After he made his move though, he realized that the new patient was not even a person but a monster wearing the coat of a dead body. He tried many methods but failed to kill the new patient until the doctors rushed in to stop him.
Normally, when a patient attempted something as dangerous as murder, they would be severely punished, but this time, there was an exception. The doctors merely came to question them about the whole process before they left in a hurry. That night, the nine personas gathered together to have a discussion. Just as they were at the height of their argument, the murderer's persona started to self-mutilate. It was as if some kind of madness had taken hold of the man. He repeated the things that he had done to the new patient on himself.
The other eight personas had no idea what had come over him. However, they knew that they had to stop the murderer from harming the physical body that they shared, so they had no choice but to bond together to consume the murderer's persona. After the murderer was killed, the remaining eight personas started to look for the reasoning behind this. In the end, they realized that all the problems originated from the new patient. To protect the physical body from actual harm, the psychiatrist and the lawyer used the oldest persona among them, the middle-aged man, as bait to conduct an experiment. They discovered, to their surprise, the new patient's scary power—the power of curses.
As long as it was something that was uttered by the new patient, there was a chance of it becoming a part of the reality. After multiple experiments that they had done on the new patient, they became more and more afraid for their own lives, and there was a good reason behind it. This was because they discovered, the more despairing, cruel, and vicious the curse that the new patient said, the easier it would turn into reality. In contrast, the happy, beautiful words that it said had never once been realized.
The remaining personas decided not to associate themselves with the new patient anymore, but alas, it was already too late. From the moment the murderer made his move, the new patient had started to curse all of them. With the death of each persona, the stench on the new patient would heighten slightly. That appeared to be the sacrifice that he had to pay for using this power.
After reading all nine diaries, the biggest reward that Chen Ge gained was that he managed to discover the ghost fetus' power. All of the curses that came out from his lips had the chance to become reality, and the more vicious the curses, the greater the chance of it becoming real. This power could be said to be the scariest that Chen Ge had ever encountered. It was not something that could be evaded, and nothing could be done to prevent it. At least, that appeared to be the case.
"Everything has a balance to it. Won't the ghost fetus need to give up something every time it curses someone?"
After reading all the diaries, other than the increasing stench on the new patient, it did not appear to have received any other negative influence.
"Looks like the best solution as to kill the ghost fetus because it has the chance to speak."
That was easier said than done. The ghost fetus was a Demon God. It would be difficult to even harm it, much less to attempt to kill it before it was given a chance to speak. Furthermore, if he made a move and failed to deliver the fatal blow, then he would suffer the monster's vicious revenge. Chen Ge replaced all nine diaries that he had found. He picked up his backpack again and prepared to go to the third room on the first floor to take a look.
"Chen Ge, why don't you take a longer rest? You do not look so good." Wen Qing was quite worried about Chen Ge. She held the phone and stayed close to Chen Ge as if worried that the latter might faint at any moment.
"I'm fine. Since the building still has not acted up, it is the perfect chance for us to conduct our investigation. When the place becomes chaotic, it will be too late to do anything." Chen Ge's senses had become much duller compared to before. In fact, even his voice carried the lethargy of an ailing man.
The third room of the first floor was number 0011. Chen Ge hesitated when he saw the number, but in the end, he chose to push open the room door. Room 0011 was rather different from the previous two rooms he had visited. Even though the walls were also painted white, one could see the dark red splotches of blood that the white coat of paint was trying to cover up.
"The first ten patients at the cursed hospital had special doctors to look over them. From the patient's number, Patient 0011 could be considered the patient with the most serious illness among the ranks of 'normal' patients."
Three different rooms had recorded the experience that had happened to the rag doll after it was sent to the hospital. The last trace of humanity that it had was wiped out from its body, and it became a complete monster. The cursed hospital appeared to be doing this on purpose; they were purposely pushing the rag doll to become some kind of monster, and who knew what kind of goal they were trying to achieve out of this?
The cursed hospital appeared in Jiujiang about twenty years ago. They wasted so much energy on the rag doll. Could it be because they knew that it was my shadow and the real person that they were trying to target is me?
The thought crossed Chen Ge's mind, but he soon shook his head.
I am just a person who owns a haunted house. There is no reason for anyone to target me. The real target that they are after is probably the version of myself that cannot be killed no matter what. My parents' disappearance probably has something to do with them as well.
Ever since he obtained the black phone, everything that Chen Ge had done was to find his own parents. At that moment, he felt like he had never been closer to the truth.


The hearse with the weird odor slowed to a stop before the entrance. The sound of pebbles could be heard bouncing on the ceiling. There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and there seemed to be someone sawing next door. The door knob to the room rattled slightly, and the faucet in the bathroom kept dripping even though it had been screwed shut. There was a rubber ball that rolled on its own underneath the bed. Wet footsteps started to surface one after another on the floor. 
At 3 am, Chen Ge held a cleaver in his hand as he hid beside the room heater. The call he was trying to make was finally answered. "Landlord, is this what you meant by 'the house can be a little crowded at night'‽"



 Tom: Dear diaries: “Me, Liam, Eyad, Taline and Oliver stayed on the witches’ planet for another 5 years, Liam and I became 22 years old, Taline became 13 years old, Oliver became 37 years old, and Eyad became 42 years old. Since Martha used the device alone, we have been traveling and going around the whole planet running from the witches that wanted Taline for some reason, I know that mom and dad didn’t age a year as 5 years on the witches’ planet equals 1 day on any normal planet, so according to my calculations, we have been missing for only 2 days or less, I wish we get out of here anytime sooner”. 

 Yassin: Dear diaries: “It’s been 2 days since the last time I saw Tom, he is now supposed to be 23 years old, which means that I’m older than my son with only 4 years, Jordan took the device that Martha came back with from her, he said he would be able to fix it in less than an hour, Bassel is the one who is going to the witches’ planet to get them back because he’s a robot and he doesn’t age, I’m so hyped to see my so again”. 

Amy: Dear diaries: “I’m so worried if Tom is still alive, I don’t know where he lives or what he eats, he is now 10 years older, I’m afraid that his personality has changed, I’m afraid that he doesn’t love me anymore because I didn’t look for him when I knew he was missing, I’m afraid he would be sad that his 2 best friends just died, I wanted to go get him myself but I can’t, but Bassel will, unfortunately he will go alone, Bassel is still my friend, I’m worried that he doesn’t come back, anyways I wish they all come back”. 

Maria: Dear diaries: “I don’t know why I’m writing this diaries but Jordan told us to write down what we feel, instead of just sitting there watching him fixing the device, anyways, I’m so sad that Ava died], she was such a beautiful smart girl, I’m also scared from knowing that there are more witches, witches hated mutants, I’m half mutant and half witch. Mike and I haven’t been talking much since our fight, I think I should call it the “break up”, I still love him but I can’t be with someone who doesn’t know what I’m capable of”. 

Bassel: Dear diaries: “Jordan told me write down what I feel about going on such a dangerous mission, he told me it would make me feel more human, so I feel a little scared from going on that mission, but I’m happy at the same time because I’m saving Tom, Liam and Taline, oh wait Jordan is done I’m going to take the device now and I will go to save my friends, wish me luck whoever is reading” 

Bassel went on the mission, he took the device and Jordan told him that the device won’t be damaged anymore, so no one had to bother fixing it again. Bassel used the device, he teleported to the witches’ planet, he started looking for them, Ellen upgraded Bassel right before he teleported, and she made him see if there are any person surrounding him within 100 miles. Bassel saw that there were 5 people walking 5 miles away, he started running towards them. Meanwhile, Tom and the others saw 5 witches near them, they hid as fast as they could, but then Bassel came and said: “Hi!!” loudly, the witches saw Bassel, they used their magic on him to grab him, but they didn’t see Tom or the others, Bassel threw the device to them and he told them that they had to use it without him, he said that while he was being grabbed. Eyad said: “We have the device, let’s leave this planet”, Tom was so mad and he said: “No, We aren’t leaving without Bassel, he is here to save us, we have to help him”, then Oliver said: “But how can we defeat those witches”, Tom said: “I have a plane”.

Amy, a girl that just found out that she had superpowers, her life turned upside down and her only goal is survival but instead, she saves the universe from dangerous MUTANTS and started making friends.

Maria: Dear diaries: "I don't know why I'm writing this diaries but Jordan told us to write down what we feel, instead of just sitting there watching him fixing the device, anyways, I'm so sad that Ava died], she was such a beautiful smart girl, I'm also scared from knowing that there are more witches, witches hated mutants, I'm half mutant and half witch. Mike and I haven't been talking much since our fight, I think I should call it the "break up", I still love him but I can't be with someone who doesn't know what I'm capable of".
Bassel: Dear diaries: "Jordan told me write down what I feel about going on such a dangerous mission, he told me it would make me feel more human, so I feel a little scared from going on that mission, but I'm happy at the same time because I'm saving Tom, Liam and Taline, oh wait Jordan is done I'm going to take the device now and I will go to save my friends, wish me luck whoever is reading"
Bassel went on the mission, he took the device and Jordan told him that the device won't be damaged anymore, so no one had to bother fixing it again. Bassel used the device, he teleported to the witches' planet, he started looking for them, Ellen upgraded Bassel right before he teleported, and she made him see if there are any person surrounding him within 100 miles. Bassel saw that there were 5 people walking 5 miles away, he started running towards them. Meanwhile, Tom and the others saw 5 witches near them, they hid as fast as they could, but then Bassel came and said: "Hi!!" loudly, the witches saw Bassel, they used their magic on him to grab him, but they didn't see Tom or the others, Bassel threw the device to them and he told them that they had to use it without him, he said that while he was being grabbed. Eyad said: "We have the device, let's leave this planet", Tom was so mad and he said: "No, We aren't leaving without Bassel, he is here to save us, we have to help him", then Oliver said: "But how can we defeat those witches", Tom said: "I have a plan".

Si Kongchen dropped the file, then leaned against the back of his chair as he folded his arms and thought for a moment before speaking, "Hasn't he been pursuing that woman? Was there another woman who gave him a son? Or… his son isn't adopted too, is he?"
He had already adopted a daughter. Adopting a son wouldn't be surprising for him.
Wei Haichao pondered upon his words and found them reasonable. So, he nodded and said, "That's possible… But, I'm thinking maybe he found a surrogate mother from another base?" 
"That's not possible!" Xie Longyun, who was sitting on the couch, denied that possibility, "He has a daughter already. Does he still need a surrogate mother? He treasures his six-year-old daughter, doesn't he? In that case, he doesn't need a surrogate mother. I don't think that's something he would do. It's not like he has to have a son. That's not necessary at all." 
The two men glanced at her. Si Kongchen stayed silent while Wei Haichao responded, "Perhaps he wants a son to carry on his duty. After all, most men want to pass on their bloodline. That's nothing strange." 
Xie Longyun gave him a sideway glimpse, "That sounds weird. Wu Chengyue already has his eyes on a woman. Why didn't he let the woman he likes give him a son? Why another woman? Isn't that weird? Are you a man like that? Do you prefer another woman to give birth to your son than the woman you like?"
After saying that, she looked at Wei Haichao from head to toe the way people would look at an irresponsible and dishonest man. Under her gaze, the latter instantly felt embarrassed. "How is that possible? I'm not that kind of man," he denied without thinking.
"Who knows? I don't know you well," Xie Longyun turned her eyes away from him and shrugged. Raising her eyebrows, she picked up the teacup and took another sip.
Wei Haichao felt being wronged.
"So, Wu Chengyue has a one-month-old son. Anything else?" Si Kongchen asked.
Wei Haichao shook his head, "They have been keeping the sources of their supplies strictly secret. Our people haven't gathered any useful information yet. After the clues about those two diaries, nothing else was found."
Si Kongchen furrowed his brows, "Hadn't those two diaries fallen into Wu Chengyue's hands already? Do you want to take them from him?"
Wei Haichao dropped his head despondently and said, "It was all because of that woman. Eh! Wu Chengyue found out about it anyway." 
"He has already gotten the diaries, so there's no chance for us to take them back," said Si Kongchen with a peaceful look in his eyes and a bland tone, "Wu Chengyue is not stupid. He won't give us any chance to get something so important."
Leng Xuantong had already been studying the two diaries. He hadn't dug out any useful information from it though. Someone found him and asked him for the two diaries.
"I heard from Chief that you have two diaries from Huaxia Base about the research on plants. Can I read them? Are you done reading them?" Shui Mingjun stood outside Leng Xuantong's lab and said to him.
"Yes, but I can only lend you one of them now. I'll lend you the second one when you are done reading the first one. Can you understand the contents of those diaries? Those have a pretty high academic quality…" Leng Xuantong nodded, but looked at him with hesitation.
"It's okay," Shui Mingjun smiled and said, "I'll memorize them after reading them once. That knowledge might be useless to me now, but after I learn more about those plants, I might be able to give it a try. It's better than doing nothing, right?"
Leng Xuantong thought for a moment and felt that Shui Mingjun was actually right. He himself had now been focusing on the energy and matters inside the bodies of the underground creatures, so he didn't need those diaries for the time being. Shui Mingjun could read them if he wanted to. Perhaps, he could really discover something that he had missed.
Sometimes, people with little professional knowledge might have surprising discoveries when they read academic articles. 
After giving the first diary to Shui Mingjun, Leng Xuantong went back to his lab. Apart from his zombie wife and son, Bao Xiaoguo and his little sister were also in that lab.
Leng Xuantong's wife was at level-three already. In the past year, she drank the lake water that Lin Qiao left her almost every single day. Therefore, her appearance had changed quite a lot. Her hair were already shiny. Apart from her black eyes and dark-purple lips, she looked almost like a healthy human being.
His son was healing relatively slowly, but the cause was undetermined. It was definitely not because of his young age. After all, Four under Chief's direct command was already a zombie king now.
Bao Xiaoguo was guarding the lab diligently. From time to time, he turned to look into the lab. 
Most of the time, the zombie boy was outside the door, playing with Bao Xiaoguo. Leng Xuantong would ask the boy to go outside when he hindered the adults in the lab from doing their work. Well, the boy never listened to him anyway. Every time, he would bare his teeth and roar at his father fiercely. However, his mother would then slap on the back of his head and drive him out of the lab. 
Leng Xuantong's wife was named Qi Lansheng. She was a short-tempered, violent zombie lady who beat her son all the time.
"Director, was your wife like this when she was still a human?" The shorted haired Bao Xiaoying, who looked like a boy, sneakily poked Leng Xuantong and asked him when he watched Qi Lansheng kick her son out of the lab like always.
Leng Xuantong was bending over to look into the microscope. Hearing the question, he stayed motionless and responded, "She wasn't so violent before. The worst thing she could do was yell at us. Now, she's a zombie, so maybe she's become wilder than before, or her true nature is revealed."
Thankfully, he was at level-five, and was totally able to suppress his level-three wife. Also, fortunately, Qi Lansheng had restored some of her memory. She had been quite nice to Leng Xuantong.
Leng Xuantong's lab was located in Base Number Two, so he hardly limited the freedom of his wife and son, as long as the two of them didn't go too far away.
The zombie boy started staring at Bao Xiaoguo again once he ran out of the lab. He stood about a meter away from the latter and raised his pale little face to looked at him with his dark eyes, struggling.
Bao Xiaoguo smelt so good. He wanted so strongly to eat him. However, his mother wouldn't let him eat the man. Also, the man sometimes released the horrible black fire to scare him. 
"Shu, you'll get hungry standing near me. Move!" Like always, Bao Xiaoguo said to the little zombie with an unfriendly tone when the boy stood before him.
The zombie boy had failed to resist the temptation and bitten him a few times. He didn't turn into a zombie though. Recently, he attained a dark fire power, as same as what his Chief had. Once he released a tiny wisp of dark fire, the zombie boy would run away. 


Lin Qiao remembers nothing from the past five years since the post-apocalyptic era began. She wakes up only to find herself having become a newborn, superpowered zombie, in a body that used to belong to an evil and notorious woman!

Having kidnapped a girl and raped her father, the previous host met her demise at the very hands of the conspiracies she courted all her life, leaving Lin Qiao no choice but to deal with the consequences while trying to figure out her own past and the fate of her loved ones.

VOL 1
It's the first week of school. Despite my failed attempt to make a friend, I somehow ended up surrounded by a handful of wolf classmates, got accepted by the human "cool" girls, and became a vampire's guard dog? 


VOL 2
I think I'm just starting to get the hang of school. From navigating school halls, new friends, vampires, and school clubs... 
Back home it should have been the usual drill, but things started shifting. And I urm...might have been messing around where I shouldn't.


VOL 3
I had to miss a couple of school days this week due to my ah, long term bout of "anemia". It's been pretty intense at home. My alpha position was challenged, rogues burnt down our home, I rescued my first fight dog, discovered the Lorent's secret oracle, almost rescued my mate...and accidentally stumbled into my Alpha Dad's secret.


VOL 4
My worlds collide as some members from my pack come to my school to sell concert tickets. And when Grandpa Alpha shocked us all by dying, my dad's family comes together to pay their last respects at the Night Forest Pack. 


VOL 5
It's February and the Vampire Queen is celebrating her birthday. Would Rebel's plan to escape work out? Meanwhile, I'm stuck in school dealing with high school drama, an evolving wolf, and a new human sister. In the Red Packlands, war nearly breaks out. (This might have been a very little bit my fault.)

VOL 6
It's the week of Valentine's Day, but I've got a highschool play, Lorent drama, Vampire slaying training, and an underground army to deal with first. And then warlock weather threw an extended snowstorm at us. The whole of Green Packlands goes into lockdown - but what about Valentine's Day?

VOL 7
Exams are a week away, and it feels like my time at Winderhill is really coming to a close. I'm trying to be a good student, but there are paparazzi camped outside my school, I ran with rogues (I'm shocked too), Maria just had to enter her dark cycle in school...My life is too exciting to study for exams.

VOL 8
It's exam week, but I've got far greater problems brewing at home. The prophecies are merging. River's stone had unlocked warlock trouble, the rogue king has moved in, and then there's Uncle Louis' economical problems... one at a time. Just let me survive Code Black and figure out what's going on at Heller's first, and I'm sure everything else will work out somehow.

At Ren's persuasion, Tsubaki let herself took a slow and relaxing bath after dinner. The small tub in the bathroom was filled with thick bubbles, the smell of strawberry and yogurt bath bomb lingered in the air. Tsubaki just quietly submerged herself in the tub while Ren sat on a stool behind her, separating by the tub. He gently massaged her head and lather her favorite shampoo through her hair.

"You're sure you're okay, sweetheart?" Ren exerted light pressure on the lower part of her head, rubbing circles with his thumbs.

Tsubaki smiled, feeling relaxed with the massage. Her tone was quiet and carried a faint hint of determination. "I'm okay. I'm afraid if I delay this matter any longer, I'd retreat further from it."

"Okay," Ren nodded. "We'll go to their house after this."

Tsubaki smiled quietly. She was still down-hearted after discovered her late Mom's diaries but she refused to wallow in sorrow. What did the old couple would tell her, she hadn't had a clue but at least with the help of the diaries and postcards, she knew they couldn't continue hiding the truth from her.

After finished bathing, Tsubaki went to dry her hair while Ren took a shower. He didn't take a long time to refresh his body. By 9 PM, both of them had already headed to the Kurokis. Tsubaki brought along the diaries and postcards, placed inside a tote bag.

After Ren knocked on the door twice, he saw a shadow moving toward the door from the windows. In a second, Uncle Kiyonaga greeted them with a sullen smile.

"Good evening, Uncle Kiyonaga," Tsubaki bowed her head slightly.

"Good evening, you two." The old man opened the door wide, inviting the husband and wife to step inside. He smiled faintly when he met Tsubaki's dimmed eyes. "Come. Your aunt is already waiting in the living room."

After the couple safely got inside the house, Uncle Kiyonaga closed the door. Tsubaki immediately searched for Aunt Touko. The woman was sitting on the couch in the living room, her head hung low as she was flipping over an old album. Sensing their presence, she raised her head and met Tsubaki's eyes.

"You're here." Aunt Touko closed the album. She looked like if possible she didn't want to face Tsubaki tonight. 

Tsubaki gave a light nod. "Yes, Aunt."

It was the first time Tsubaki saw Aunt Touko looked so sad. In her memory, this older woman was a bubbly person who liked to bicker with her husband. She and Satsuki would always join the fun whenever it happened.

The two women continued to stare at each other in silence. Tsubaki's grip on the tote bag holder was almost loosened when her heart pang in guilt. Ren who stood behind her saw the shivering of her shoulders. He placed one hand at the small of her back. The warmth brought comfort to her warring heart.

"Please take a seat, you two," Aunt Touko quickly regained her composure. She shook her head slightly, chasing the tears that were brimming over her eyes. 

Tsubaki answered again with a quiet nod. She took a seat at the long couch, followed by Ren at her side.

Uncle Kiyonaga went to the kitchen and silently preparing drinks for them. His movements weren't as energetic as usual. 

"Tsubaki..." Aunt Touko called out her name, the older woman trained her eyes on her face. "May I know... how did you know that... you weren't your late mother's daughter?"

Tsubaki's mother, Yagi Ayaka had sworn to let the secrets died with her because she didn't want to make Tsubaki sad once she found out. But, under Touko's reasonings, she relented to tell Tsubaki if it was necessary. It seemed like she had brought the secrets to her grave the day she died but who knew after more than a decade of her death, Tsubaki would come to her door and ask about her origin?

"Actually..."

Tsubaki took a deep breath. Her eyelashes fluttered as she tried to control the turmoil in her heart. Ren just silently became her support, his hand never left her back, offering comfort to her.

"I accidentally met someone who looked like me," Tsubaki blurted out the words in a hurry, as if she would keep herself quiet if she didn't say it in this moment. 

"Looked like?" Aunt Touko frowned. "What do you mean?"

Tsubaki recounted her meeting with Little Kouichi which led to her discovery of Hinata's birth. Aunt Touko and Uncle Kiyonaga didn't interrupt her story, the expressions on their faces worsened as moments passed by. Especially when they knew that Hinata had long dead due to sickness.

She found her twin sister only to discover they could only meet in photographs and memories of the people around them.

"Earlier, I found these in Mom's bedroom."

Tsubaki reached out for the tote bag, she placed it on the coffee table. She took out all the diaries and postcards. Aunt Touko and Uncle Kiyonaga's interest piqued when they saw the items brought out by Tsubaki. Seeing Tsubaki had silently given her permission, Aunt Touko stretched her long hand to take one of the diaries.

"This is..." Aunt Touko gasped, she recognized whose writing was it. "Your Mom?"

Tsubaki nodded. "If I didn't try to find them, I'd never knew Mom hid them under a board below the bed. I haven't read all of them but... it's true that Mom adopted me."

The Kuroki couple took their time to read the contents of the diaries briefly. They even looked at the postcards. After some time, they exchanged a glance before Aunt Touko sighed heavily. Her eyes landed on the familiar handwriting on one of the diaries opened on her lap.

"Since... you haven't read all of this, I'd tell you what happened right from the start," The older woman finally reached her decision. She lifted her head to meet Tsubaki's eyes. "At the very least, I hope you won't blame your Mom."

Tsubaki smiled but her the shine in her eyes dulled. "I have never blamed Mom, Aunt. I know that if Mom didn't bring me up, I might not be here."

Aunt Touko nodded in understanding. Since young, Tsubaki was a wise child.

"I think... it was two months before you came here," Aunt Touko began her story. There was a faint longing in her eyes as she recounted the events happening more than two decades ago. "Your Mom, Ayaka, came home from the hospital with a piece of good news. She was expecting."

Tsubaki's brows instinctually knitted together, confusion was apparent in her eyes but she didn't ask anything. She had a bad feeling about this.

Aunt Touko recognized the look on Tsubaki's face. She looked so worn out as she added, "She miscarried a few days later."

Tsubaki's shoulders jolted up slightly.

Don't tell me... 

Her hands unconsciously gripped the hem of her skirt, her fingers trembling. 

"Ayaka was hospitalized for quite a long time," Aunt Touko continued. "She was quite depressed. When she returned, she brought you along with her."

Tsubaki took a sharp breath. Ren was startled when she suddenly reached out for his hands. He immediately enveloped them in his hold while the other hand gently rubbing her shoulders. 

"Tsubaki... I... should I continue?" Aunt Touko was slightly frightened when she saw how hard Tsubaki was enduring her pain right now. The young lady was on the verge crying yet she refused to so. 

It was heartbreaking seeing her like this. 

"No, Aunt..." After much difficulty, Tsubaki managed to answer. "Please, continue."

Aunt Touko nodded. Uncle Kiyonaga handed Ren a cup of tea, urging him to help Tsubaki drink in order to calm her nerves. Tsubaki reluctantly took a sip, she stole at glance at her husband's worried face. 

In the second their eyes met, she felt like she wanted to cry. 

But, this was not the right time. 

After Tsubaki drank, Aunt Touko continued.

"Ayaka was too depressed and... when I saw her brought you home I thought she wanted..." Aunt Touko couldn't have the heart to speak the truth. After a moment of thinking, she changed her words, "She wanted to ease her pain by adopting you but I never thought another reason accompanied her action."

Tsubaki lowered her gaze. She knew what Aunt Touko wanted to say at first. 

"Do you know the reason?" Tsubaki's voice was weak when she asked. Her eyes landed on her fingers gripping the knees. "About why Mom adopted me? If not for... to ease her pain?"

Even she herself didn't dare to use the word. 

Substitute. 

She was supposed to be the substitute for the lost baby.

Even though she said she won't blame her Mom, but she couldn't deny her heart hurt for a bit. But, if Mom didn't bring her home, where could she be right now? 

A heavy sigh escaped the older woman's lips.

"Tsubaki..." There was a pleading in her eyes as Aunt Touko looked at her. "Your Mom said... your biological mother couldn't take care of you. Your life might be in danger if you continued be by her side. That was why... Ayaka adopted you."

"Danger?" 

Her pupils dilated slightly as she heard the last sentence. Tsubaki lifted up her head, her brows knitted together. It was clear that she didn't understand the older woman's words. 

"I could be in danger?" Tsubaki raised one of her hands, pointing at herself. "Me?"

Aunt Touko reluctantly nodded. A look of guilt crossed her eyes, as if she was regretting of saying the words. 

"Ayaka didn't say why but she said if your real mother couldn't take care of you, she would take you in. She even said that... whatever happened you were her daughter."

Tsubaki went in a daze. Her eyes blankly stared at the diaries and postcards scattered on the coffee table. 

The answers might be in there.

"I'll make you fall in love with me again." He gently rubbed her head.

"Whenever you're tired donning the cold mask to the outside world, you could come to me. I'll be here." She smiled as she held his hands.

Five years ago, the long winter of his life melted away once she entered his life. He had grown to live comfortably in her cool spring air with the scent of flowers she loved. But, fate had another story. It dragged him away from his spring, leading him to once again living in winter.

To avoid him from drowning in the freezing air, he began his journey to once again inviting the spring to grace his life.

Because for Ren, Tsubaki would forever be his spring.
