Deep within the society there exists the subconscious of the human world, it heavily influences everything from the background and no one seems to know it. They deal with many people, many, many people, doesn't matter if they are philanthropists, the kindest of the kind, or demons that ravish themselves in selfish delight. They deal with the mind, or as many know in this world, The Human Condition.

In addition to carefully exploring, observing, and hunting, Roy had been drafting designs these past few days.
The first draft he completed used his hands as reference objects. He made his entire palm bigger and savage, seeming as though a bony shell and messy bone spurs that protruded like nails covered it. He even lengthened his nails and made them sharper with a hook-like curvature. It even glowed with the radiance of metal. 
Roy's initial definitions for this transformation were Steel Material and Flexible. 
Yes, this was Roy's first modification plan, creating a pair of hands with steel claws for himself!
This was just a preliminary idea. In Roy's conception, if he had enough souls in the future, he also planned to transform his nails to be made of adamantium in order to achieve an indestructible and powerful force. He also planned for this transformation to extend to his whole arm. 
This idea naturally came from the claws of Wolverine. However, Roy guessed that the number of souls and their quality were probably insufficient to have them made with adamantium, so his current thought was to transform them into ordinary steel.
With such a sharp pair of claws, his advantage in combat was self-evident. Even if he encountered a strong opponent, he could easily tear through their defense with them. Moreover, a weapon of his own would not have problems such as a shortage of ammunition.
The second modification plan was Roy's tail.
Due to his different body structure, Roy could not walk completely upright like how he used to as a human. He could stand up but not straighten his body, causing him to slouch. For now, he had been using this arrow-like tail to keep his body in balance. Other than that, his tail was not very useful. 
Not only was it unable to help Roy in combat, but it was also a weak point of his body, being sensitive and fragile, bringing him a lot of pain once it was hurt.
Therefore, in order to eliminate this weakness, Roy's second modification plan was for his tail. He drew a long tail that extended from his spine. It had sections, from thick to sharp, beautifully streamlined. Roy designed three bone knives that could open and close at the tip of his tail. When opened, it could grab objects; when closed, it could become a triangular blade that could pierce through a thick steel plate easily.
If done according to his vision, this long tail, once combined with his body, could even give his spine a protruding blade-shaped bone, making him look more domineering and savage. 
He had no other choice. He was disheartened by this world where appearance was everything! It was the same even in this Demon World. Here, the value of looks was strong, scary, and savage. If your appearance did not possess any deterring force and could not invoke fear in others, then probably even ordinary monsters would dare to test you out…
Now that Roy had become a demon without any human form, he freed himself completely and let his imagination run wild.
Roy was rather satisfied with the design of the tail. His definitions for the tail were Bone Material, Flexible, Regeneration, and Hard As Steel.
After he had sufficient souls in the future, Roy also planned to transform the tail into adamantium so that it could become a true steel tail in the truest sense of the word.
The third modification plan was also the last modification plan that Roy had come up with recently. It was not for partial transformation… but for the entire body.
In the third picture, Roy drew a syringe gun and a test tube that matched with the syringe gun.
This test tube was very interesting. The upper and lower ends were encapsulated in silver-white metal, while in the middle were two separate, spiraling tubes with a blue liquid inside.
Very familiar, right? That's right because Roy's definition for this liquid was T-Virus!
Since it was for the whole body, the first thing that Roy thought was a strengthening agent, and when it came to strengthening agents, the first things he thought of were the T-Virus and the Super Soldier Serum. 
Roy could recall the appearance of the T-Virus from the movies, but he was unclear about the Super Soldier Serum. Of course, he could have just drawn a random test tube and then defined it as a strengthening agent. It would have worked as well, but Roy felt that such a creation out of thin air might require many more souls than something he already had formed in his memory.
Just like the revolver he had made before, he had given it a basic definition, the size, the volume, and so on when drawing it. The additional text definitions were just to perfect it. However, something he thought of out of thin air required a more detailed definition, thereby requiring more souls.
As such, Roy finally chose the T-Virus. It was in itself a concept that was to thoroughly optimize and evolve his genes for the purpose of enhancing physical fitness and eliminating diseases. This was derived from the concept given to it in the movies, novels, and games. Moreover, it was the most basic enhancement when compared to the G-Virus, the Veronica Virus, and the like. It was very suitable for Roy's current weak body and had little chance of being incompatible. 
However, due to concerns about its stability and whether or not his demon body could adapt to this virus, Roy gave two additional definitions to this T-Virus: Perfect Infusion and No Side Effects! This way, he did not need to worry about becoming a zombie…
If the existing souls that Roy possessed could materialize the T-Virus, then he could become stronger after injecting himself with it. If he was lucky, he might even obtain superpowers. It was super efficient. 
Three modification plans, three drawings formed three materials. He was now ready to see which one would cost the least.
He had the soul of a lower-rank demon and four monsters. These five souls were all 'complete low-quality' souls in the system's evaluation, and only their volumes and values were different, so Roy started testing each material one by one.
The modification drawings of both hands and tail adaptively changed sizes to match his body after being placed on the main page of the interface. The T-Virus did not need adaptation and was displayed immediately. However, after his tests, Roy discovered that the number of souls he had was only enough to complete the tail!
This surprised Roy because the tail had the most attributes defined. Why is it the tail if more attributes require more souls? 
Other than the tail at 100%, modification of his hands could only reach 20% completion, while the T-Virus was even less at only 5%! 
In other words, if Roy wanted to transform his hands, he needed at least five times more souls than he currently possessed. Furthermore, he would need twenty times more souls for the T-Virus!
What the hell is going on??
After careful study, Roy realized what was wrong. The reason why the modification of his hands required more souls even though he defined fewer attributes was probably that he defined the material as steel.
It was naturally more difficult for steel to have the flexibility of a living body. It had to be a bio-metal to achieve this. On the contrary, there might be more definitions for the tail, but the material was bone. That meant that it could be completed by proliferating Roy's own cells. The definition of Hard as Steel was only to strengthen the bone, so the overall modification of the tail was easier than the hands.
As for the T-Virus, Roy understood immediately. After giving it the two definitions, the T-Virus became the perfect strengthening agent, which was why it required so many souls.
In that case, Roy could almost confirm his modification plan immediately—either directly modify the tail or change the definitions for the arm and then modify his arm. He did not even need to think about the T-Virus for the time being.
After giving it some thought, he chose to modify his tail and eliminate his weakness first.
After attaching the tail to his body on the main page and pressing save, a tingling sensation spread throughout his spine. This feeling was really uncomfortable. Roy wanted to rub his back hard on the floor in order to alleviate his discomfort. However, he was very clear that it was best not to do so, so he forced himself to endure it…
After some time, when Roy was still in a trance, that itchiness finally disappeared, and with it came a strange sense of power… 


Roy's life was nothing special. The only thing commendable was the last few moments when he saved a mother and her child from a drunk driver.

I kept silent as he continued.
"The next test is two days from now, which means you will be spending almost all of your time in this library learning the bare minimum on politics. Supplies will be given to you for studying after lunch, but for now these are the textbooks that we'll be using. We don't have enough time to go over everything in the textbooks, so we'll go over 4 topics- one in between each meal. You'll have the time before breakfast and after dinner to yourself, so use the time wisely. You'll be tested on the third day before the test with everyone else. Any questions?"
"May I ask why a guard isn't teaching me the material?"
 He gave gave me an icy stare. 
"Are you questioning me?"
"N-No, Your Highness. I just didn't want to waste your time," I said, bowing my head.
"I'm quite aware of how I'm spending my time. Anymore questions?"
"Y-yes, Your Majesty. Is the exam the same one as the one I took in the previous test, or is it different?"
"I will personally be making your exam, so I suggest you don't slack off during any of my teaching," he warned.
"Yes, Your Majesty." 

With that, he started instructing. He pulled out a chalk board and started writing things down at relentless speeds. I thanked God that I had thought to bring a notebook and pen before this whole thing started. I scribbled down what he wrote faster than I thought I knew how to write. He didn't spare a single second, feeding me information and definitions. He explained as he wrote, forcing me to try to multi-task. It pushed me to limits I didn't even know I had when it came to learning.  It was actually the first time in a while that I had a genuinely challenging experience. The King seemed to excel at explaining the subject, so most of the material made sense. I struggled to write down the important points he was saying as well as writing, but eventually got everything down. We went over so many definitions, I could barely remember any of them. And I knew I was going to have to review the notes and memorize them. Without realizing it, a maid came in and told us about the prepared lunch. I almost hugged her on the spot, desperate for a break. So much material was crammed and pushed into my brain, that if I didn't get a moment to look back over it, I would loose it all.

"It seems that I got a bit carried away. We already went over an entire unit... Were you able to keep up?" He asked.
"I believe so, Your Majesty,"I said weakly.
"Then I'll give you a quiz after lunch to see if we need to go over anything."
No way.
"....Of course, Your Highness."
He nodded and strode out of the room with me following behind. We were the first people there, as the King preferred to be there before any of the other girls. I sat down at the seat I was at for breakfast and opened my note book, reciting the information. I kept reading over certain vocabulary, underlining certain parts. If the quiz was multiple choice, than I could study normally, but I had a feeling that a quiz given at short notice, would be short answer. If it was, than I would actually have to memorize the definitions, understand what they are, and how to apply them. I practiced writing down the definitions by memory and reviewed the points that were given. Once I was able to write down most of the words by heart, I started eating. 

All of the girls were halfway through their meal, while I just started. 

The girl from before caught my attention, "Hey, where were you? I looked for you everywhere."
"I was still in the library."
"When do you want to go over cotillion?" She asked.
Oh no, I forgot.
"Could we do it after dinner?"
"Sure, but I'm not sure how much I can cover. I'll try to just give you all of the important information."
"Alright, thank you so much, again, for your help."
"No problem," she smiled. I weakly returned it. I looked down at my food, slowly taking another bite.
How am I gonna learn all of this in time for the next test?
I looked at my notebook again. Taking one last bite, I opened it again and continued to study.

Soon enough lunch ended, and I dreadfully walked down to the library, waiting for the king. I tried to cram even more into my head, not wanting to miss anything.

"Are you ready?" The king asked coming in.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
He handed me the paper and I wrote my name on it. Just as I thought, everything was short answer and mostly difficult questions. But I could answer most of it. In about 30 minutes I finished the assessment and handed it to him. He took out his pen and looked over the paper. The maids must have switched out a chair for him, because a much more extravagant chair was there where he was sitting. He had a pretty blank expression as he read over my answers. After marking things once or twice he looked to me, and I kept my head down. My heart rate increased hoping he wouldn't just execute me if my score wasn't good enough on the first quiz.

"You did surprisingly well. 92%," he announced, handing back the paper.
"We don't have to go over anything really. You just made small mistakes. Although, I don't forgive mistakes normally, it is a quiz, and overall it was done well. Better than I expected at least."
He seemed to think for a moment before continuing, "I want to see how far I can push you with this. I originally only planned to go over four topics, but since we already went over a whole unit, we could probably go further."
We already went over the topics? Then doesn't he already know that I can learn? Why do we have to continue? Plus, he's already worked me to my hardest, I don't know what he's talking about.

"If we really want, then we could finish another unit today and do an accumulative test tomorrow."

Oh my God, please no.

"Do you think you could handle it?" The king asked.
"...If you would like to, then I will put forth my best effort not to let you down, Your Majesty."
"You don't seem too confident," he noted.
"I'm sorry, Your Majesty."
"Why?" He asked.
"... I'm not sure if I can learn another unit and still meet your expectations , but I'll do whatever you wish, Your Majesty," I answered.
"Hmmm, good. Then we'll do 2 units per day and test on them the morning of the next test."

Oh fun, I get to face the chance of execution more than once in one day.

"Let's get started," he said. With that I suffered another 3 hours of rushed lessons. By the time I was done, my notebook was already 1/3 used. Again we moved to dinner with a few summarizing points. I was actually worried about my ability to remember any of the information. It seemed to be so much in such a little amount of time. I couldn't even start on the food worried about my ability to remember . I once again reviewed the material mercilessly, not listening to anything going on around me.
"Eleana," A voice cut their the air, grabbing my attention. I detached my eyes from the words on the page and looked to see that the king had called my name.
"Yes, Your Highness?" I answered.
"Eat," he ordered.
"... Yes, Your highness," I replied. I closed the notes and started to take bites out of the food. Instead, I just tried to think about the new definitions and topics, pulling as much from memory as I could.

 If I couldn't look through the notes on paper, I'll just do so in my head.

Once dinner ended, I was dragged by Sofia into my room.
"Finally, we can start on our lessons," she said. I followed along, hiding the reluctance that made me want to plop on the floor and sleep.

How am I going to get through this?

The numbers in a ratio may be quantities of any kind, such as counts of people or objects, or such as measurements of lengths, weights, time, etc. In most contexts, both numbers are restricted to be positive.

A ratio may be specified either by giving both constituting numbers, written as "a to b" or "a∶b",[1] or by giving just the value of their quotient a/b.[2][3][4] Equal quotients correspond to equal ratios.

Consequently, a ratio may be considered as an ordered pair of numbers, a fraction with the first number in the numerator and the second in the denominator, or as the value denoted by this fraction. Ratios of counts, given by (non-zero) natural numbers, are rational numbers, and may sometimes be natural numbers. When two quantities are measured with the same unit, as is often the case, their ratio is a dimensionless number. A quotient of two quantities that are measured with different units is called a rate.[5]

The numbers A and B are sometimes called terms of the ratio, with A being the antecedent and B being the consequent.[8]

A statement expressing the equality of two ratios A∶B and C∶D is called a proportion,[9] written as A∶B = C∶D or A∶B∷C∶D. This latter form, when spoken or written in the English language, is often expressed as

(A is to B) as (C is to D).

A, B, C and D are called the terms of the proportion. A and D are called its extremes, and B and C are called its means. The equality of three or more ratios, like A∶B = C∶D = E∶F, is called a continued proportion.[10]

Ratios are sometimes used with three or even more terms, e.g., the proportion for the edge lengths of a "two by four" that is ten inches long is therefore

For a (rather dry) mixture of 4/1 parts in volume of cement to water, it could be said that the ratio of cement to water is 4∶1, that there is 4 times as much cement as water, or that there is a quarter (1/4) as much water as cement.

The meaning of such a proportion of ratios with more than two terms is that the ratio of any two terms on the left-hand side is equal to the ratio of the corresponding two terms on the right-hand side.
History and etymologyEdit

It is possible to trace the origin of the word "ratio" to the Ancient Greek λόγος (logos). Early translators rendered this into Latin as ratio ("reason"; as in the word "rational"). A more modern interpretation[compared to?] of Euclid's meaning is more akin to computation or reckoning.[12] Medieval writers used the word proportio ("proportion") to indicate ratio and proportionalitas ("proportionality") for the equality of ratios.[13]

Euclid collected the results appearing in the Elements from earlier sources. The Pythagoreans developed a theory of ratio and proportion as applied to numbers.[14] The Pythagoreans' conception of number included only what would today be called rational numbers, casting doubt on the validity of the theory in geometry where, as the Pythagoreans also discovered, incommensurable ratios (corresponding to irrational numbers) exist. The discovery of a theory of ratios that does not assume commensurability is probably due to Eudoxus of Cnidus. The exposition of the theory of proportions that appears in Book VII of The Elements reflects the earlier theory of ratios of commensurables.[15]

The existence of multiple theories seems unnecessarily complex since ratios are, to a large extent, identified with quotients and their prospective values. However, this is a comparatively recent development, as can be seen from the fact that modern geometry textbooks still use distinct terminology and notation for ratios and quotients. The reasons for this are twofold: first, there was the previously mentioned reluctance to accept irrational numbers as true numbers, and second, the lack of a widely used symbolism to replace the already established terminology of ratios delayed the full acceptance of fractions as alternative until the 16th century.[16]
Euclid's definitionsEdit

Book V of Euclid's Elements has 18 definitions, all of which relate to ratios.[17] In addition, Euclid uses ideas that were in such common usage that he did not include definitions for them. The first two definitions say that a part of a quantity is another quantity that "measures" it and conversely, a multiple of a quantity is another quantity that it measures. In modern terminology, this means that a multiple of a quantity is that quantity multiplied by an integer greater than one—and a part of a quantity (meaning aliquot part) is a part that, when multiplied by an integer greater than one, gives the quantity.

Euclid does not define the term "measure" as used here, However, one may infer that if a quantity is taken as a unit of measurement, and a second quantity is given as an integral number of these units, then the first quantity measures the second. These definitions are repeated, nearly word for word, as definitions 3 and 5 in book VII.

Definition 3 describes what a ratio is in a general way. It is not rigorous in a mathematical sense and some have ascribed it to Euclid's editors rather than Euclid himself.[18] Euclid defines a ratio as between two quantities of the same type, so by this definition the ratios of two lengths or of two areas are defined, but not the ratio of a length and an area. Definition 4 makes this more rigorous. It states that a ratio of two quantities exists, when there is a multiple of each that exceeds the other. In modern notation, a ratio exists between quantities p and q, if there exist integers m and n such that mp>q and nq>p. This condition is known as the Archimedes property.

Definition 5 is the most complex and difficult. It defines what it means for two ratios to be equal. Today, this can be done by simply stating that ratios are equal when the quotients of the terms are equal, but such a definition would have been meaningless to Euclid. In modern notation, Euclid's definition of equality is that given quantities p, q, r and s, p∶q∷r ∶s if and only if, for any positive integers m and n, np<mq, np=mq, or np>mq according as nr<ms, nr=ms, or nr>ms, respectively.[19] This definition has affinities with Dedekind cuts as, with n and q both positive, np stands to mq as p/q stands to the rational number m/n (dividing both terms by nq).[20]

Definition 6 says that quantities that have the same ratio are proportional or in proportion. Euclid uses the Greek ἀναλόγον (analogon), this has the same root as λόγος and is related to the English word "analog".

Definition 7 defines what it means for one ratio to be less than or greater than another and is based on the ideas present in definition 5. In modern notation it says that given quantities p, q, r and s, p∶q>r∶s if there are positive integers m and n so that np>mq and nr≤ms.

As with definition 3, definition 8 is regarded by some as being a later insertion by Euclid's editors. It defines three terms p, q and r to be in proportion when p∶q∷q∶r. This is extended to 4 terms p, q, r and s as p∶q∷q∶r∷r∶s, and so on. Sequences that have the property that the ratios of consecutive terms are equal are called geometric progressions. Definitions 9 and 10 apply this, saying that if p, q and r are in proportion then p∶r is the duplicate ratio of p∶q and if p, q, r and s are in proportion then p∶s is the triplicate ratio of p∶q.
Number of terms and use of fractionsEdit

In general, a comparison of the quantities of a two-entity ratio can be expressed as a fraction derived from the ratio. For example, in a ratio of 2∶3, the amount, size, volume, or quantity of the first entity is {\displaystyle {\tfrac {2}{3}}}￼ that of the second entity.

If there are 2 oranges and 3 apples, the ratio of oranges to apples is 2∶3, and the ratio of oranges to the total number of pieces of fruit is 2∶5. These ratios can also be expressed in fraction form: there are 2/3 as many oranges as apples, and 2/5 of the pieces of fruit are oranges. If orange juice concentrate is to be diluted with water in the ratio 1∶4, then one part of concentrate is mixed with four parts of water, giving five parts total; the amount of orange juice concentrate is 1/4 the amount of water, while the amount of orange juice concentrate is 1/5 of the total liquid. In both ratios and fractions, it is important to be clear what is being compared to what, and beginners often make mistakes for this reason.

Fractions can also be inferred from ratios with more than two entities; however, a ratio with more than two entities cannot be completely converted into a single fraction, because a fraction can only compare two quantities. A separate fraction can be used to compare the quantities of any two of the entities covered by the ratio: for example, from a ratio of 2∶3∶7 we can infer that the quantity of the second entity is {\displaystyle {\tfrac {3}{7}}}￼ that of the third entity.
Proportions and percentage ratiosEdit

If we multiply all quantities involved in a ratio by the same number, the ratio remains valid. For example, a ratio of 3∶2 is the same as 12∶8. It is usual either to reduce terms to the lowest common denominator, or to express them in parts per hundred (percent).

If a mixture contains substances A, B, C and D in the ratio 5∶9∶4∶2 then there are 5 parts of A for every 9 parts of B, 4 parts of C and 2 parts of D. As 5+9+4+2=20, the total mixture contains 5/20 of A (5 parts out of 20), 9/20 of B, 4/20 of C, and 2/20 of D. If we divide all numbers by the total and multiply by 100, we have converted to percentages: 25% A, 45% B, 20% C, and 10% D (equivalent to writing the ratio as 25∶45∶20∶10).

If the two or more ratio quantities encompass all of the quantities in a particular situation, it is said that "the whole" contains the sum of the parts: for example, a fruit basket containing two apples and three oranges and no other fruit is made up of two parts apples and three parts oranges. In this case, {\displaystyle {\tfrac {2}{5}}}￼, or 40% of the whole is apples and {\displaystyle {\tfrac {3}{5}}}￼, or 60% of the whole is oranges. This comparison of a specific quantity to "the whole" is called a proportion.

If the ratio consists of only two values, it can be represented as a fraction, in particular as a decimal fraction. For example, older televisions have a 4∶3 aspect ratio, which means that the width is 4/3 of the height (this can also be expressed as 1.33∶1 or just 1.33 rounded to two decimal places). More recent widescreen TVs have a 16∶9 aspect ratio, or 1.78 rounded to two decimal places. One of the popular widescreen movie formats is 2.35∶1 or simply 2.35. Representing ratios as decimal fractions simplifies their comparison. When comparing 1.33, 1.78 and 2.35, it is obvious which format offers wider image. Such a comparison works only when values being compared are consistent, like always expressing width in relation to height



Becoming an employee in Tianming Corporation wasn't anything as a common university envision; a paradisical throne of luxury, a brilliant coliseum where great business, academic, and artistic talents converged to produce great works of jewelry. Well, it was probable that somewhere within the massive empire built by the glib elderly Mu Yun, such an environment existed, but the Finance Department – both external and internal branches, were relatively melancholy and mundane. Just like any regular employee, they crunched numbers and rubbed at their receding hairline from behind stacks upon stacks of indomitable papers, income statements, cash flow trackers, and the norm.
Xi Chen had now spent nearly two weeks idling in such mundane lifestyle. He wrote preparatory papers to present some modicum of effort in his studies, he compiled trackers for the external and entry-level expenses for Tianming Corporation, sighed alongside with the employees whenever Mu Yu-er's fiancé – actually, three prospective fiancés – wreaked havoc over the limited funds.
On the surface, he was a young talent the chairman had sourced from an unknown street in Jiangbei. Useful as an employee despite his young age and his current student as a student, but not prestigious enough to demand certain merit or recognition.
"Another seventy million loss every year. Is the old man trying to ruin his efforts, or does he not care anymore?"
Xi Chen tossed the printed sheets onto the table with a light snort, and paid no heed to the numerous rows of data that had been highlighted in warning colors. The youth pressed the papers into their laminated covers and attached the customary note on top asking for review, and leaned back into his seat with both arms crossed behind his head.
The day's work was completed, just like that.

"Did you just ignore me?" The girl yelled fuming, her parents didn't seem to care. They were too busy staring at each other with lovey-dovey eyes. 

"Yeah I did, so what?" I asked her, "You've been rude to me so far, and now you care about me ignoring you?" I glared at her, but she was after all still a child so it wasn't necessarily her fault. 

"How dare you?" She shouted, then she slapped me across the face with a smirk. It hurt a lot, but that didn't matter. If I was in some sort of dead dream thing, then how did that hurt? I stared at her wide-eyed, not because she slapped me but because reality hit me.

Those questions started to sprout across my brain, who were these people? And who was I? They said I had white hair, did I really have white hair? Where was I? And why were they dressed up like that? More and more questions tumbled in, gaining no answers.

"Death girls shouldn't ignore their masters!" She snickered wickedly, "After all your new name is Dabria, that means you're going to die soon!" 

The little girl smiled when she said that, she actually smiled. What was wrong with her? What kind of kid smiles at someone and says you're going to die soon? It was just a name, how would that affect my death? 

"You're sick." I snapped at her, "Where am I, and who are you, people?" I demanded those answers, I needed those answers. I was scared, what was going to happen to me? They didn't seem to like me very much, what if I was hit? Or abused? And where was I? I thought I died! I could remember the cold water crashing down on me, the burning fear, the will to survive, I had a sickening feeling. 

"You don't know who I am?" The little girl jeered angrily as if I should know who she was. She just looked like an angry little girl to me.

"I am Briar Juliane Colderback, how could you not know that? My father's a baron, Alexander John Colderback!" She said sternly as if I wanted to know her full name, middle name, and all. I didn't care who she was, I just wanted to know where the hell I was. 

"Aren't barons like the lowest of nobility?" I asked her, half wanting the answer and half wanting to make fun of her. I didn't like this kid, she was mean and nasty. 

The little girl flushed red and started crying, "This person insulted me! Make her go away!" She screamed in a tantrum. 

The woman stopped flirting with her husband and rushed over to her little girl, "Are you okay? What happened?" She asked fretfully. 

"This filthy slum kid insulted me, make her go away!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, tears streaming down her small face. Maybe I was too harsh on her, I did drive her to tears. She was, after all, a little kid. 

"How dare you make my sweet Briar cry!" The woman screamed angrily. "Get a whip, give me a whip now!" She yelled glaring at me. "This slum kid deserves to die!" 

"What?" I asked, "aren't you being overdramatic?" 

"You made Briar cry, my sweet baby girl. I am not being overdramatic, I am just giving you a rightful punishment!" She cackled horrifyingly. 

"I'll get a whip, honey. If you want anything, I'll get it without a second glance!" The man smiled at his wife and rushed away out the door, coming back in only a matter of seconds before returning with a thin long black cord. 

"You should get out Briar, you might see something you don't want to see." I froze at what the woman said, and saw Briar smirk at me. I was wrong, Briar was pure evil. Then I realized why this was familiar to me. Why everything seemed like deja vu, this was the world of a novel I read.

Viscount: The official powers they exercised by delegation. Delegation is ruled by authority, which means someone superior could make a viscount carry duties. They are often deputies. {I think?} 

Earls: Earls are royal governors under the rule of the king, and reigned over their own lands. 

Marquess: They are high in the nobility rank, and were used as translators. {That's all, I think?} 

Duke: A duke is the ruler of a duchy, which means a territory or domain. They were just below royalty. 

King/royalty: Is a supreme ruler, sovereign over a nation or a territory, of higher rank than any other secular ruler except an emperor, to whom a king may be subjected.

 Emperor: Is the ruler of an entire empire, higher than a king.

 I am going to use all of these definitions in my story if I ever need to. BTW I think that they all have their own pieces of land, I'll just give them their own land anyways. )

"I'll get a whip honey. If you want anything, i'll get it without a second glance!" The man smiled at his wife and rushed away out the door, coming back in only a matter of seconds before returning with a thin long black cord. 

"You should get out Briar, you might see something you don't want to see." I froze at what the woman said, and saw Briar smirk at me. I was wrong, Briar was pure evil. Then I realized why this was familiar to me. Why everything seemed like deja vu, this was the world of a novel I read. 

(Author's definitions of nobility, to give a further explanation. Baron: title of nobility, ranking below a viscount a baron was a "man" who pledged his loyalty and service to his superior in return for land that he could pass to his heirs. The lowest ranking of nobility.  

Viscount: Their official powers they exercised by delegation. Delegation is ruled by authority, which means someone superior could make a viscount carry duties. They are often deputies. {I think?} 

Earls: Earls are royal governors under the rule of the king, and reigned over their own lands. 

Marquess: They are high in the nobility rank, and were used as translators. {That's all, I think?} 

Duke: A duke is the ruler of a duchy, that means a territory, or domain. They were just below royalty. 

King/royalty: Is a supreme ruler, sovereign over a nation or a territory, of higher rank than any other secular ruler except an emperor, to whom a king may be subjected to.

 Emperor: Is the ruler of an entire empire, higher than a king.

 I am going to use all of these definitions in my story, if I ever need to. BTW I think that they all have their own pieces of land, I'll just give them their own land anyways. )
We'll name the runt Dabria: it means death." The woman sneered glaring at me with an eerie smile. 

"Dabria?" I asked voicing my concerns, why did that name sound so familiar?

"Did we allow you to speak?" The little girl asked frowning, "People in the slums have no respect towards nobles!" 

"Noble? Slums?" I questioned, "Who are you and where am I ?" When I asked that, the little girl walked up to me with a frown still plastered across her petite face. 

"Did I allow you to speak to me? Did I say you could speak to me?" The girl demanded of me, but I ignored her and looked at my surroundings. I was in a small room that was dusty and dirty, there was one bed and the mattress looked so thin and tattered, the blanket with it was in the same condition, there was no pillow, there was one window but it was cracked, and there was a rotted wooden door that looked like it could break at any minute. 

"Did you just ignore me?" The girl yelled fuming, her parents didn't seem to care. They were too busy staring at each other with lovey dovey eyes. 

"Yeah I did, so what?" I asked her, "You've been rude to me so far, and now you care about me ignoring you?" I glared at her, but she was after all still a child so it wasn't necessarily her fault. 

"How dare you?" She shouted, then she slapped me across the face with a smirk. It hurt a lot, but that didn't matter. If I was in some sort of dead dream thing, then how did that hurt? I stared at her wide eyed, not because she slapped me but because reality hit me. 

Was this really a dream?

Or was this real life?

Was this really happening?                                 

What's going on?

Am I really dead, or alive?

Those questions started to sprout across my brain, who were these people? And who was I? They said I had white hair, did I really have white hair? Where was I? And why were they dressed up like that? More and more questions tumbled in, gaining no answers.

"Death girls shouldn't ignore their masters!" She snickered wickedly, "After all your new name is Dabria, that means you're going to die soon!" 

The little girl smiled when she said that, she actually smiled. What was wrong with her? What kind of kid smiles at someone and says you're going to die soon? It was just a name, how would that affect my death? 

"You're sick." I snapped at her, "Where am I, and who are you people?" I demanded those answers, I needed those answers. I was scared, what was going to happen to me? They didn't seem to like me very much, what if I was hit? Or abused? And where was I? I thought I died! I could remember the cold water crashing down on me, the burning fear, the will to survive, I had a sickening feeling. 

"You don't know who I am?" The little girl jeered angrily, as if I should know who she was. She just looked like an angry little girl to me.

"I am Briar Juliane Colderback, how could you not know that? My fathers a baron, Alexander John Colderback!" She said sternly, as if I wanted to know her full name, middle name and all. I didn't care who she was, I just wanted to know where the hell I was. 

"Aren't barons like the lowest of nobility?" I asked her, half wanting the answer, and half wanting to make fun of her. I didn't like this kid, she was mean and nasty. 

The little girl flushed red and started crying, "This person insulted me! Make her go away!" She screamed in a tantrum. 

The woman stopped flirting with her husband and rushed over to her little girl, "Are you okay? What happened?" She asked fretfully. 

"This filthy slum kid insulted me, make her go away!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, tears streaming down her small face. Maybe I was too harsh on her, I did drive her to tears. She was, after all, a little kid. 

"How dare you make my sweet Briar cry!" The woman screamed angrily. "Get a whip, give me a whip now!" She yelled glaring at me. "This slum kid deserves to die!"

Daylia an 18-year-old girl has a tragic life, with her life in shambles she decides she's done. She has had enough of her misery. Later she commits suicide and drowns, in the middle of a chilled winter lake. Unexpectedly she finds herself in the world of her least favorite novel and decides to change her fated death, as the heroine.

Luca stared outside the windows blankly as he listened to his teacher lecture the students about the world. Although he looked carefree, his ears were wide open and the information was flowing in like a flood. 'There's more information here then the book', he thought as he doodled on the desk, the teacher's passionate voice still resounding through the room. 
"This world, Earth is our home planet, a peaceful environment where wars between fellow people occasionally happen, however 200 years ago, in 2112 a "gate" appeared in Afghanistan and monsters started pouring out. The monsters ranged from unidentifiable beasts to creatures from RPG games like orcs and goblins. To counter this the governments decided to team up together and destroy this gate. It took them a year until no monsters came out of the gate but the gate remained, they decided to organise a special team to enter the gate, and after a day they returned with looks of disbelief. "It was a whole new world" they all said, and after 30 days the gate closed and disappeared.  BUT!" As soon as the teacher yelled this the dozing students woke up in a fright.  
"The world- Earth was given a new gift, certain individuals started awakening their powers, some had the standard telekinesis, or creating fire and some had rarer ones like controlling time! The powers started appear on people of all ages first, but as the numbers of gates increased the 'gifted' ages started to decrease. The youngest to have a gift is 1 and the general age to have an awakening is between 12-18, however some may have late awakenings, or early ones, even a second awakening is possible, since anything is possible in the 'Gifted Era'!"The seemingly passionate speech left no deep impressions in the students whatsoever as the all had a bored look on their faces. Seeing this the teacher sighed and continued,
"You all are part of the Hope class, where your parents are gifted themselves or you have the aptitude to be gifted. The chances of you getting an awakening if your parents or grandparents are one is high, but don't let this confidence confuse you, since who knows if you happen to be the odd one out of you family" (She briefly glanced at me) "Now after your awakening you will join other 'gifted' and will learn at 'EINS', the biggest school for the 'gifted'. Today's lecture is done, I want you to copy the definitions down from the board and write and essay about what you think the most powerful power is, also add some colours, I don't want any bland works", The teacher smiled and sat down at her table. The girls eyes sparkled when hearing the teacher's comment and giggled as they pulled their pencil cases out, pouring down different types of coloured pens and highlighters. 
Luca quickly broke out of his daze and took out his note book, he copied down the definitions, 
"Gift: The power that a person receives when the are awakened"
"Awakened: When the power manifests in a person"
"Gifted: Someone who possesses a gift"
After a moment of thought he decided to add some fun facts,
"1 in 2000 people are gifted", "Oldest person to be gifted is 100", then proceeded to write down the strongest ability. 'Time travel', He chose this because he himself could be counted as a time traveller and felt that it was a good ability all together. After finishing his school work he pulled out another notebook from his bag. The book looked similar to other ones but it couldn't be opened normally. He mumbled something and it clicked open. It was the power of Runes. When the Gifted started using their powers, muggl- humans found out about runes, this was due to the runes in ancient abandoned cities activating. Runes became a popular thing for research and Luca himself self-learnt it. Now after opening the book, he turned to the second page that was written in bold letters. 'Lucius's Gift'.

Waking up as a novel’s main villain isn’t the best surprise. 
At least you know what happens in the future.
