Updates randomly because I'm a high school student with no free time

Within a dreary looking artificial space surrounded by blood and gore, there stood Shuhang who was nonchalantly holding a bloodied, limbless body, who was barely hanging on to life. There were of course a few glowing runic symbols all around to seal both body and mind of the robed man so that he won't try anything.

"Hm... should I use White's version of mind reading magic? Yeah. Let's go with that."

"As expected... it's really hard to fathom the inner workings of that White fellow's head. How did he even thought to make this magic become something like this.... =.=;; "

As soon as Shuhang had activated the 'Mind Reading Magic - White's Edition', a bunch of computer terms/folders appeared in his vision. There was of course the C: folder which contains the basic functions which makes and defines what kind of being they are. In other words, it contains the Operating Software which controls the Hardware that is the physical body. 

Then there was the D: folder which is where all their memories are stored. As for the additional E: and F: folders though... they are more than likely 'plugins' or external power which enable their strangely high powered abilities even though they're not cultivators.

"As expected... it was external power that allowed for his strength to be at the 5th stage. Must be the same with the other mobs as well. Why are there two 'plugins' for this guy though?"

After mumbling to himself a white, Shuhang decided to not do guess work anymore and actually start with reading his memories. C: folder can be left alone so Shuhang moved his figurative 'finger' in his mind and clicked on the D: folder.

His main objective is to of course 'open' the D: folder. What greeted his eyes after opening the folder were thousands of files which were named/ordered by the 'dates' in which they were created. Scrolling down all the way to bottom, the memories seemed to have stopped at the date about a month before the start of the zombie apocalypse. With that in mind, Shuhang chose a memory that was a couple of days before the latest.

And of course Shuhang would choose the 'view' option since the other options were useless for this particular occasion. What he saw only made Shuhang frown as they only contained what one would expect of an ordinary adult male. Deciding to look at a different memory, Shuhang picked the very latest one this time. 

Again. It was all just the memories of an ordinary man's point of view doing very ordinary things. Well... if you could call this pervert who likes to put spy cams in girls' changing room 'normal' that is. (The fuck is wrong with this world...?) thought Shuhang morbidly...

When the memories ended, everything just got cut off abruptly. It's almost akin to when one is watching a MyTube video only to get cut off in the middle when their internet connection is lost.

Without wasting any time, Shuhang opened the E: folder and started with the very first 'memory'. Shuhang wasn't disappointed this time as just from the very first memory, he was able to find out what their race looked like. They've got humanoid shape, blood red skin, overly large fangs, protruding horn from their bald head, and eyes that were all black just like that of a 'demon'.

Going further down the memory lane - uh, list... Shuhang was able find out more things. Things like the structure of their civilization, which closely resembles that of Earth's dark age. As for their power source, it seems related to the 'God' that they worship. Apparently, the stronger their 'belief', the more 'power' they receive in turn.

As for the whole invasion thing... there were strangely a lot of missing details. The only thing Shuhang had picked up was their goal of stealing the invaded world's life force and offering it to their 'slumbering God'. As for the 'Awakened'... they seem to be the invaded world's original inhabitant that were given 'Super-natural ability' by their very world itself to resist the invasion. If the invasion fails, even the planet's life force itself would be sucked dry after all. This would naturally lead to the death of the world itself.

"Ah... fuck me side-ways. Siiiigh. A bunch of religious fanatics that spans across their whole species. It's even worse that they can travel to different worlds by proxy via body possessions. =___=. Unable to get any other clues, Shuhang decided to check out the final F: folder. Although his cultivator's intuition is telling him to stay away, Shuhang decided to push on and open it anyways after putting up some safety measures. Or at least he tried to.

Hello people, 

First of all, thank you for reading the story so far!  I hope you all continue to enjoy Joshua's crazy antics. :D

The story has slowly been moving toward the final arc of volume 2. 

Now, I have a little problem. 

I have a draft of the events I want to happen (I do for the whole series actually) but I'm not sure what the best order is to tell certain events yet. 

I fear to publish chapter by chapter like I've been doing currently could end up being detrimental for the story overall, I might end wanting to shuffle chapters around a bit. 

So what does this mean : 

I will temporarily stop publishing chapters. I'm not sure for how long, probably until I'm satisfied with the flow of the story. (might take a few weeks)

When I resume the publication, I'll probably release 2-3 chapters a day. (Depends how much I've written in total.)

In parallel, the edition is volume 1 is coming to a close, I'll let you know once it's available. :D 

I thank you all for your patience. The wait will be worth it. (At least I hope so, lol. )

P.S. : Just to make clear: I AM NOT DROPPING THE NOVEL!  :D

Sitting back with the rest of their family members to eat, Yuiko and Erina spent the banquet chatting with each other before the Queen announced that the banquet was over.
"Well... I didn't eat that much this year Yuiko... I think because my nervousness is lessening my appetite..." sighed Erina while getting out of her seat.
Patting Erina's back, Yuiko replied, "Well, that's understandable. It good too, because you shouldn't be eating that much cake anyway~"
Walking out of the dining hall, Erina mumbled, "But it tastes so good! I don't know why... it just calls to me..."
Chuckling, Yuiko countered, "Well, cake calls to everyone, so that's not a good excuse. It's just you don't ignore the call of the cake."
Walking down the ornate halls, Erina commented, "Every time I walk down these halls I feel like they are more beautiful than last year..."
Looking out the windows, Yuiko added, "The gardens outside the windows are also always immaculate."
Nodding in agreement, Erina turned to Yuiko as they walked into the testing site, "See on the stage in a little bit," before walking off towards her own table.
Sitting down at the Noragi family table, Erina zoned out while waiting for the Queen to call the test participants onto the stage. Hearing the Queen call the participants onto the stage, Erina whispered a see you later to her parents before walking onto the stage to wait her turn.
Standing next to Yuiko, Erina whispered, "So Haizaki is going first?"
Nodding Yuiko replied, "Yup, the Hanamiya family is the first family alphabetically after all. Also turns out there are six people today..."
[AN: This is what you would call a hasty author patch when you need things to change... *whistles while walking off*]
Sighing, Erina shook her head before fixing her posture as the Queen was about to begin the test.
Looking down at the name sheet, the Queen shook her head ever so slightly before calling out, "Would Haizaki Hanamiya please walk up to the testing machine?"
With a predatory grin on his face, Haizaki sauntered up to the machine before setting his hand on it. Moving through the different machines, Haizaki finished the final test when he stood at the front of the stage waiting for his results.
Not moving at all, Erina whispered to Yuiko, "I forgot that they stopped the machine from reporting after each test, instead only at the end..."
Still looking towards the stage, Yuiko whispered in reply, "How...? It's been going on for 3 years now... you know what we should concentrate so don't answer..."
Standing at the front of the stage, Haizaki's grin widened upon hearing the results of his test,

Walking back to the other participants, Haizaki taunted, "I bet I beat every single one you! I got Lava 3rd level!"
Seeing that all the other participants ignored him, Haizaki turned away and walked back to his designated spot, "Tch, plebeians all of you!"
[AN: He needs a lava shower... no guarantees though...]
Waiting for her turn, Erina watched as Vladimir Kuznetsov went. Watching him go through the tests, Erina muttered under her breath, "At least he's nice, unlike Haizaki..."
Standing at the front of the stage, Vladimir was thinking, 'I hope that I get a complex element... I don't even care if my affinity is worse than that Hanamiya's... Hanamiya is a b*tch, he has no respect for the people...'
Looking at the crowd below the stage, Vladimir listened as the machine listed out his scores,

Flashing a brilliant smile towards the applauding crowd upon hearing his results, Vladimir walked back over to his spot while giving Haizaki the stink eye.
With an ugly expression on his face, Haizaki replied, "Well that's just one of you plebeians! I'm still better than the rest of you!"
Chuckling, Yuiko waited until her name was called, "See you after Erina~, wish me luck!"
Smiling, Erina wished her the best of luck while adding, "I believe in you! I think you'll get the best results so far!"
[AN: If you haven't noticed... you probably haven't because I haven't said anything about it actually... but the people who take the test this year are going to be pretty special~ (๑◕ㅂ▰)
So pay attention to all of the characters introduced in these few chapters~ they'll matter later on~]
Happy that Erina was cheering her on, Yuiko walked up to the first machine and lightly set her hand onto the designated area.
'Huh... there really is a sucking feeling, just like what Shousuke said...' Yuiko thought, remembering what Shousuke had told her after he took the test.
Looking around, Yuiko took her hand off the testing area when she heard a loud *BING* sound while the machine powered itself down. Walking over to the next machine, Yuiko gently put her hand on the testing site before continuing her visual exploration of the area.
'Of course... of course Shousuke is making weird faces right now... why wouldn't he be making weird faces...' Yuiko thought when she made eye contact with Shousuke.
Hearing the machine power down, Yuiko walked over to the third machine, the machine that would measure her Magic affinities.
Feeling the pulling sensation, Yuiko prayed while keeping her eyes closed, 'I really hope that it makes the sound that allows me to take the complex element test... please make the sound!'
*BING BONG*
[AN: Okay I know these are stupid sounds okay...]
Letting out a sigh of relief, Yuiko walked over to the complex element affinity measurement machine. Setting down her hand, Yuiko calmly passed through the rest of the tests without a hitch. Finishing her tests, Yuiko walked to the front of the stage to await the announcement of her results.
Waiting for a few seconds, the mechanical voice reported,

Hearing her test results, Yuiko was stupefied, '5th level?! Amazing! That's practically unheard of! Very few magicians have 5th level complex elements!'
Walking back to the side of the stage, Yuiko ignored the hateful expression that Haizaki had while hugging Erina.
Smiling like crazy, Erina whispered, "I knew you could do it! See? You were the best one so far by a lot! You even got one of the really rare 5th level elements!"
Tears forming in her eyes, Yuiko replied in another whisper, "I know! I didn't even expect that! Erina, can you pinch me to make sure I'm not dreaming?"
Hearing Yuiko's words, Erina's face had a teasing grin as she discreetly pinched Yuiko as hard as she could on the butt.
Surprised at the where she was pinched, Yuiko swatted Erina's hand away before scolding her in a quiet but harsh tone, "Not there! What are you? Taking lessons from my mom or something?!?!"
Giggling, Erina replied, "No~" before straightening her posture as the applause died down.

Born with a frail body, but an exceptional talent for magic, Erina dreams of adventuring through the world.

Collapsing due to exhaustion? Who cares? I'm still alive!

Enemies? Didn't I tell you I have magic?

Getting lost? Ah, you know, good point that's a problem...

Watch Erina make friends, and try to enjoy life to the fullest!
