That night, Sam came out of an old house with a smile on his face. He just made a huge deal which will also give him some advantages.
Although, Black water is something he would destroy sooner or later, that doesn't mean he cannot use it for his own reasons.
The next day, the whole empire has rumours starting about something. Sam has destroyed the fields under the imperial authority due to his conflict with the emperor and because the officials are incompetent that they cannot catch Sam, they started taking their anger on Sam's friends and the people low level guards who are responsible for guarding the fields.
They are even planning on executing them. This rumour was fresh out of over and the people who have nothing better than gossip started spreading out like wild fire. Even the authorities started hearing the news soon enough and they started to panic.
They wanted to quell the rumours but the source is nowhere to be found.
Sam is using the Blackwater to do this. In a war particularly an internal war, the one with most information will have a higher chance to win. And one with the control over the information will have even higher possibilities.
Sam knew how deep the Blackwater penetrated into the empire and he has enough money to use them.
Now, the whole Black water will not only be providing intel to him, they will also be manipulating the information according to his wishes.
This will make things very much easier for him and after that, there was another news that spread that Sam is in the Indigo city.
The officials of the Indigo city got alerted and didn't know how to react. General Fischer though started his journey towards the Indigo city.
Meanwhile, Sam is far away from the Indigo city and is now catching the Long-tailed chinchilla.
This chinchilla is unlike other rodent species. Generally, the rodents will be a bane to all types of vegetation but this chinchilla is a boon for them.
This chinchilla is a natural fertiliser machine and that fertiliser is something that works wonders.
The Long-tailed chinchilla generally feeds on all kinds of plants whether they are spiritual herbs or not. And the excrement of this chinchilla has a sixty percent chance of producing a seed of the herb it consumed or the excrement will be a highly valuable fertiliser for the same kind of plant.
But the problem is if they eat spiritual herbs, they would be dying soon due to spiritual energy poisoning and their carcasses are something that the beasts would go crazy about. But the problem is the plants that grew off of these excrements will not be too pure and they would be like a mass-produced knockoff compared to a handmade antique.
So, nobody would use these for cultivating herbs and when they are in the forests, they would increase the vegetation a lot which would attract all types of herbivore beasts and which would in turn attract the carnivores. This small rodent can start a food chain in a place.
But the main ability of these chinchillas that attracted Sam here, is that their digestion. They are almost incapable of diarrhoea. Yes, they actually don't take the nutrient content of any plant rather they would take the vitality of the plant that too not completely. This is the main reason for their excrements to have this type of quality.
And why does Sam need these and not just one? That is for the next operation, he is going to use these small harmless chinchillas and these would be one of the major players too.
 They are going to execute the operation and Sam doesn't even have to do much work.
After four days, he went to the place where he planned to meet with Watt and Jack. They are already waiting for him there and what is Philip doing, he is in the library.
He is in the library browsing through all the Artisan data.
Even though, he is already a Great realm cultivator, he is still fixated on being an Artisan, Sam doesn't have many objections. Even though, the information is valuable, Sam doesn't have a problem sharing it with a friend.
And now he doesn't have much to do anyway.
The Place Sam met with Watt is the north-eastern corner of the southern Star Dukedom and last main source of the Dukedom.
That is right, this is Sam's last target in the southern star.
Authorities are having a misconception that Sam is destroying all their resources one by one, but no. Sam is destroying only the main resources of the Southern Star. The main income and the supply sources right under the imperial authority.
He doesn't have time or energy to mess with the minor resources of the southern star. And the presence of these minor resources is going to be one of the players in his big plan, so he is not going to deal with them.
Now he is in a town named the Miner's town. The name of the town is self-explanatory. Near this town, there are many metal mines and this place is where the miners and their families stay.
The majority of the weapons, armors and all kinds of war supplies that uses metals get their source of metal from this town.
The elemental metals are not that common and most of them use the neutral metals. The elemental metal wines are completely under the Artisan tower control as they leased them from the empire that is for almost a century.
How does Sam know? That is one of the perks of being an Artisan that too a high-level one. Chaya gave him this information.
Now, these mines are going to utter waste at least the people of the empire.
Because, Sam is going to use a plant and the Chinchilla in combination.
Yes, the Plant that Watt and Jack went to get.
This is looks just like a type of grass and it grows where the mineral content is high, particularly a metallic one and an abundance of rocky terrain. This plant has another function and that is releasing some kind of gas.
This gas is invisible and it causes extreme nausea.
The main advantage is that this grass doesn't even grow that long.
It will grow very short and in very small creeks. It doesn't even take that long. Even though, due to its size the gas expulsion is not that effective and only works in the smaller range, the mines are places where the space is compact and dark.
This place is an extremely great place to use this.
In this place it is extremely great to use this, since getting rid of it is also difficult. As for just burning the whole thing, it is actually a worst thing to do, because if it burn in a large quantity, there would be some serious diarrheal affects for the inhaler and the entire Miner's town wouldn't be able to escape from the effects.
If inhaled in high amounts, even the Nascent stage cultivators will have bear the suffering.
But before he does that, Sam has to train these chinchillas.
Even though, he doesn't like doing this, he has to and at least these chinchillas wouldn't be seriously harmed.
Right now, Sam is using the negative reinforcement training.
He placed all kinds of plants that these chinchillas eat along with the Nausea grass. If these chinchillas eat any other plant than the Nausea grass, they would receive a splash of water from Sam.
This went on for two days and after that, Sam had the shadow mice over and explained them how things work and what to eat what not to eat.
Why didn't he tell them earlier? The chinchillas don't have as high intelligence as other beasts, they only act on their instincts.
After two days of explanation. Sam left these chinchillas discreetly in the mines.
But he didn't leave them by themselves, he stayed in the mice for the next week along with these chinchillas. So, that they won't die in the hands of the miners, but his worries are unfounded, the miners didn't care much about the rodents because they are actually looking exactly like a type of mouse species that live in mines.
And since the miner got used to them, they didn't care much about chinchillas.
After a week in the mines, Sam caught all chinchillas back and went away.
He visited one of the abandoned mines and made a mark on it.
"SAM WAS HERE."
His friends all sat there and had a barbeque in the open.
 As they drank some fresh fruit juice along with the beasts.
Sam laid down and was thinking how far he has come since the start of his journey in this world.
It has been three years and now he is starting a fight with the whole empire. The Emperor who can kill him in a wink is now his enemy and not only did he piss him off, he is playing with the whole empire and making him even more mad and now he is have barbeque out in the open with his friends.
"What is our next plan?" Philip asked.
"You are asking as if you are doing something. You are going to hole up in that library again."
Before Sam could reply, Jack already fired back.
"I am trying to increase my arsenal of knowledge so that I can work better in the future, what the hell do you know?" Philip said in mock anger.
 "Okay, stop it. We have to see the results of the work before going anywhere. So, we will wait for a while and see how the Empire will react."
"Then, we are on leave till then. Hurray."
Philip started cheering.
"Tssk. Like you care. You are on holiday from the start." This time it is Watt.
"Watt, you are also going against me? Don't think I would beat you up."
"Like, hell you can beat me up. I am not afraid of you."
Just like that, the four youngsters who are in a war with the empire are having barbeque while cheering and bickering.

Self-made cotton paper was a very important and necessary item when hamster breeding. It could be bought from the Internet. The product was whole, raw, pulp paper, without any artificial dyes, and it could be cut into finger-wide strips. Hamsters would instinctively search for nesting materials after giving birth to their pups. If they couldn't find them, they would be anxious, even if the owner had already made a nest for it. It was useless, however, as it would only be reassured if it was a nest made by the hamster themselves.
The cotton paper was given to the children for free by Zhang Zian––a pack was only ten yuan––and he had the children cut them into paper strips.
When the children saw that the female hamster was actually eating the cotton paper strips, they were all very shocked.
"Is the female hamster hungry? Why is it eating cotton paper?" Little Celery asked, worried.
"Yes, should we give it some food to eat? What if it gets so hungry it eats the little hamsters?" another child added.
"You all think it is eating the cotton paper? No, it is just keeping the cotton paper in its cheek to make it easy to move it to build a nest. The reason why we needed to cut the cotton paper into thin strips was because if it was too wide, it couldn't fit it into its mouth…"
After the cotton paper passed through its mouth, it would become softer, and hence it could not be replaced by normal sawdust. Sawdust was too hard; it could not eat it and it was not suitable to build a nest with.
It kept several pieces of cotton paper strips into its cheek pouch, then ran back to its baby hamsters. It spit out the cotton paper and started to make the nest without any guidance. After that, it ran back into the corner to eat the cotton paper again.
"Isn't it better to directly put the cotton paper closer to the babies?" a child who asked. "That way it wouldn't have to run back and forth. It just finished giving birth so it must be very tough for it, right?"
Zhang Zian nodded. "It is indeed very tough for it, but during the making of the cotton paper and the transporting of it, it is impossible to prevent it from getting some human scent on it. When it puts it in its mouth, its own scent overpowers the human scent. It can't be put too close, otherwise that wouldn't happen."
The children saw that the hamster mother was very busy even though it had just given birth and had used all its strength. It was still painstakingly traveling back and forth, building a shelter for its children. They could not help but pay tribute to it.
Zhang Zian said, "When your mother gave birth to you, she experienced much more pain than the mother hamster. In order to take care of you, she also did more hard work than the mother hamster. She not only had to take care of your clothes, food, and living, but she also had to run between her house and her workplace every day to earn more money in exchange for a bigger and more comfortable house––in exchange for good food, for things for you to play with, in exchange for a happier life for you… So you all should be considerate of your mother, and not always make her angry. Remembering their mothers' daily hard work and how they often made her angry because of their studies and their naughtiness, a few of the usually naughtier boys bowed their heads in shame. Several already sensitive girls were so moved they had to wipe away tears.
If one just stood on the platform and nagged, it would absolutely not have such an effect. One would not be able to let the children intuitively understand the hard work of motherhood. They had to witness it, personally feel it, in order to leave a deep impression on them. If one could do that, the cost of buying pets and the hard work of keeping pets would be meaningful.
No matter if it was pets kept at home or school rearing courses, the purpose was not simply to let children play, but to cultivate their love and sense of responsibility in the process of raising pets. If they could also experience the hard work of mothers in the breeding process, that would be great.
The children had made up their minds to try to start doing housework when they got home later that day––even if it was just helping their mother sweep the floor or wipe the table.
"Little Celery does very well in this aspect. You all need to learn more from her," Zhang Zian encouraged.
"I… I still have not done enough…" Little Celery lowered her head, embarrassed.
Wang Yaning was a bit awkward. Her studies were very good, and all her time outside of school was spent on homework and various interest classes. Her mother also did not let her do any housework.
While they were chatting quietly, the female hamster had already moved all the cotton paper into the corner, made a shallow pit in the sawdust, put the pups in it, and then covered it with the cotton paper to make a simple and warm nest. After all, the newborn hamsters were hairless and had poor heat preservation abilities.
"The baby hamsters won't suffocate?" someone asked worriedly. They saw that the cotton paper had already totally covered the baby hamsters.
"Don't worry. That's the good thing about cotton paper and sawdust: There are a lot of holes in the middle and they can breathe, so it's not a problem," Zhang Zian said. He retrieved the food bowl the female hamster normally used and opened a bag of small steamed buns made of goat's milk and eggs that he purchased online. He put a few into it, and then put them into cardboard boxes as supplementary food for female hamster.
Although he did his best to encourage the children to prepare their own pet rearing supplies, baking was too hard for children.
The female hamster was still busy making a nest. Even if he prepared food for it, it did not have time to eat. It was just hurriedly drinking water to replace the water that it had lost while giving birth.
"You have an electric kettle here, right? Bring an egg tomorrow and boil it in plain water. After boiling it, you can break off the egg white that is the size of the nail cap and feed that to it to make sure it has enough protein. Don't overfeed it. The rest can be fed to other hamsters," Zhang Zian ordered.
"I see people feeding hamsters with mealworms. Is it better to eat live food?" a boy asked.
The girls all scrunched up their faces and said, "No mealworms. That's disgusting!"
Zhang Zian was standing on the girls' side this time and agreed. It was better not to feed them mealworms. For house pets, live food was not necessarily good because live food could carry bacteria, and there was a small amount of toxin on the mealworms.

Maybe then you could see how the mother hamster takes care of her baby," Zhang Zian suggested.
The children suddenly realized that and they were full of expectations for the next delivery.

We dined in the neat, tiled modern kitchen of a big family with faded photos on the wall. Everything was white tiles and stainless steel and glistening wood. We washed our food, we helped to move hot rocks and cook things and serve them on clean plates. We cooperated and made smalltalk although every day the elephant in the room was Chan had choked one of our group to death – at least he'd killed the concept of somebody. 
I stared at my midwife-bot while Watson helped Chan and Esther and KT to plate the food. Eli came and sat with me and we gossiped about smalltime stuff, like KimYe's grandchildren and Tay-Tay's greatest hits and fluffy, time-killing, gentle stuff. We talked about old soccer matches we'd watched, about the Olympics, about popes and sex scandals. We took our minds out of the biodome. 
When Chan served up the chinchillas Watson had helped him barbecue with chilis and garlic, with platters of wild zucchini and carrots and oranges, we took our seats at a plastic table. It was circular, had a basin of green felt in the middle and it had cup holders and plastic slots for cash. It was really a poker table, but it was better than nothing. 
We were about to eat when I noticed an empty space. I was supposed to take my seat as the Head of the table. 
'I'm not sitting there, you guys,' I told them. 'I lead from the back. I'm not special-er. Someone's going to have to move.'
Esther spun her fork in a circle and didn't look at me as she said, 'Why don't you ask your dad who he wants to sit there? He's the one who put us in this hole.'
KT dredged up some cheeriness, brushing her lap clean, perfecting her posture, convincing herself that she was on camera and had to be all chirpy. 'Eli, you'd make a splendid king?'
'I serve the king of kings already,' Eli said. 'Ede, what's going on? Everyone voted for you.'
I lost my temper, waking Hope up. She began to scream from the next room, where I'd put her on a mattress. 'For crying out loud: We do not need some lord. We do not need some president or whatever. Gawd.' I kicked KT and she got out of her seat. 'Move your stupid ass, KT.' I took her seat, relieved now that I wasn't standing over everyone. 'See? You just lost your seat. This rudderless worshippy thing you're doing? It's got to stop. Just be happy with who you are. Worship yourselves for a change.'
Without thinking about cutlery, I pressed my fingers into the oily, crispy guts of a chinchilla and tore off a hunk of flesh and chewed it. 
Esther stared at the beautifully-presented, colourful, steaming banquet like she'd witnessed a murder. 
Everyone was silent until KT – who had found a barrel to sit on, refusing to assume the leader's empty chair – said, 'Guys, we should have a toast. This is the first time we've eaten together since the Golden Age.'
Everybody toasted except me. I told Watson to take Hope out of the house for a couple of minutes. I had something important to deal with. 'There never was a golden age, retard. Sorry to burst your bubble. KT: who was the biggest loser in our group?'
KT said, 'Ad-' then shut up. She'd been programmed to never criticise Adam. 
'Eli?' I couldn't help poking him with my fork. He owed me some pain. 'Who was the coolest?'
'My boy over here.' Eli nodded at tarnished Chan. The bearded homeless-looking boy kept his eyes low and humble and chewed a chinchilla leg. 
'That's the thing, you guys. There were 12 of us. Everyone had a place. Everyone was cooler than someone else. We had people at the top, right? Well guess what: if there's a top, there's a bottom. And Adam was at the bottom. He was like – god, I dunno – he was like some dirty old grapes. We stomped on him to get wine.' Everyone thought about this for a moment, heads bowed as if praying. 'I loved my cool group – LOVED it, d'you understand? But that's the messed-up thing about society. When you tread on others, when there's like – what's the word? Pecking order, yeah. Hierarchy. When you stand on people, you may go up, but you're not just flattening the person you're standing on. You're pushing that person somewhere else. '
Esther glared at me. 'Not as if you were on the bottom, Ede.'
'THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING. I HATE MY OLD SELF. HATE HATE HATE. I like my new self. I like Hope. I like being a mum. So, so, so… .' I blew my nose on my shirt. 'So I'll be your mum, you guys. But I don't want winners in this group. I don't want losers. I want equals. I want family. And this family eats dinner together. So EAT.'
Eli took a piece of the pet meat and chewed it. 'Tastes a bit like chicken,' he said. 
'Tastes like stupid old chinchilla,' Chan mumbled. 
'Es, you used to have a pet chinchilla, didn't you?'
Eli played the game. 'I think it was called Chewbacca, wasn't it?' he said, munching. 'Mmm, Chewy.'
I burst out laughing, KT covered her face to stifle her splutters and Watson scanned everybody, recording our interaction. Chan tried to give his girlfriend a kiss on the cheek to make her feel better. She pushed him away and I imagined I'd won something. Esther glared darkly at me. Finally she took a zucchini and swallowed it, grimacing.  
I'd broken the ice. Everyone ate something, and we respected each other, and soon more jokes came and even Esther lightened up. Chan said he would help catch more chinchillas tomorrow if his arms weren't too shaky. Even Watson took a seat and processed some food in the grinder at the back of this throat. 
'Hey, dude, can I ask you a question?' KT said, pointing her fork at Watson, swaying as if she was tipsy. 'Like, be honest: do mechs go to the toilet?'
Everybody guffawed. Bits of chili and orange peel fell out of Eli's and Esther's mouths. Watson – who didn't laugh –  explained that he has the same digestive tract as everybody else, it's just that his digestive enzymes are better tuned so there��s less gas when he processes food in his intestines. Eli laughed hardest, thumping the table so hard he almost knocked a bowl off. 
Then KT cleared her throat and took a sip of energy drink. 'I just want to say, I have $40,000 in the letterbox at number 183 Vine Street,' she said. 'I mean, forget about it. I thought it would be cool if everyone shares, you know? Shares where their investment is. Shares their secrets.' She smirked at me. 'Hedge funds, everybody?'
'Yeah!' Esther said, her eyes bulging. 'Adam's got mad stacks hidden somewhere but we don't know where.'
 'Bust it out for Christmas, I say.'
'CHRISTMAS! Hell yeah.'
'There's Maeve's money too, don't forget,' Chan said, 'No Christmas without the dinero, y'all. I always thought she'd stuck the big bills where the sun don't shine, know what I'm saying?'
'Or in the garbage,' Eli said, 'No one would rummage through garbage.'
'Ede?' KT asked from across the table, 'Can we do this? Can we make something great out of all the B.S.?'
I muttered some Sojourner Truth stuff to myself, as if I were babbling in tongues. Sojourner Truth stood up against assholes when they treated her like less than human because she was an abolitionist, and black, AND a girl. If the first woman God ever made was strong enough to turn the world upside down all alone, Sojourner once said, women together ought to be able to turn it back , and get it right side up again.
I kept that little mantra to myself. Everyone waited for me to rule. I went and checked on my baby, I stretched my neck, I rolled my head around, I looked to Watson's eyes for an indication of what he thought. Finally my people's eyes were boring into me and I couldn't take it anymore. I cleared gunk out of my throat and swallowed it. 'I've made my decision. We're gonna turn things right side up.'
'Tell us.'
'TELL US, EDE.'
'My decision is we shouldn't talk about money at the dinner table. Chan, would you pass the chinchilla, please?'

12 friends. 12 million bucks. 12 months. 
No food. No adults. No backing out.

The food cleared away all the hatred they had toward Ye Song, they felt more closer to him and even feel thankful to him for making food without complaining.

In truth, Ye Song complained in his heart while cooking the food.

"Hehe, I need to make sure everyone work hard later.."

For them to obey him without any complain, he needed to pamper them. 
When the time comes, even though they were tired. They will still do the job he assigned, properly.

The two general beside him began walking towards the penguins and hamster..

All the monsters looked at them with sinister look.

While the hamster was momentarily blinded, Sloan ran around to his hairy back. He jumped on his shoulders. Sloan gripped the hamster in a headlock. Gritting his teeth, Sloan held on with everything he had. 
Scratches to his forearm caused Sloan’s skin to gush blood, but he didn’t give in to the pain. He refused to let go. Using his other arm to secure his grip, Sloan squeezed. The alien hamster backed up into the mirror wall, but Sloan knew from death number two that those were not glass. 
“Nice try, rodent-from-hell.” Sloan threw his legs back and bounced off the trampoline-type material. The propulsion from his legs was just what Sloan needed. Still holding onto the hamster’s neck, he sent them both flying forward. The damn alien hit the ground whiskers first. Sloan held on for dear life. That is what this was… Sloan's dear life. 
-Hold a little longer.- Octnavin spoke calmly in his head. Sloan tightened his grip crushing the hamster’s neck. The alien rodent thrashed in the mud. His airway was cut off, but still, the creature fought. Finally, the hamster stopped moving and wheezed.
-Well done, but you must kill him.- Octnavin said. -This is a fight to the death.-
Sloan eased his hold from around the alien’s neck. He sat on the furry back and then grabbed both sides of the hamster’s head. 
“It is what it is.” Sloan wrenched on the hamster until the fuzzy neck was broken. There was an audible crack. The head was now in an unnatural position.
He did it.
Sloan got to his feet and stood in the mud of the ring. Holding up both his middle fingers, he spun in a slow circle giving everyone behind those mirrors the biggest fuck-you Sloan had.
“That’s right, bitches. Eat it.” Sloan did a victory lap around the dome. He would probably have to fight this guy tomorrow, but for now, he didn’t care. In this second, he was alive.
Sloan noted that his platform was dropping. Leaping, he reached his lowering dais and once more flipped the bird to everyone watching. As he was lowered back to his cell, a grin lit up his face. Damn right. Humans could hold their own. 
When Sloan got to his floor, and the raiser stopped, he jumped off the metal and grinned at Octnavin.
“That’s right. I’m the mountain now.” Sloan did a victory lap around the tiny cell as Octnavin watched him from his seat against the mud wall. 
When Sloan stopped dancing, Octnavin shrugged. “Bigger pebble.”
“You’re a dick.” Sloan laughed as he walked to the water. He began to clean the scratches on his arm. He used part of his shirt to clean the injury before he returned to Octnavin’s side. The alien looked asleep against the rock. 
Sloan studied the alien for a minute. Octnavin looked too still. Curious, Sloan entered the alien’s head. Lately, the alien had been closing off some of his thoughts. During Sloan’s fights, Octnavin only presented calm. During Octnavin’s time in the ring, the great Dagerstanteen hid the pain from some of his hits. For the first time, Sloan wasn’t okay with being shut out. He barged into the alien’s mind as if he’d just kicked down the door.
Hunger. 
The starvation was a living, breathing monster in the alien mind. The feeling, the sensation, was so powerful that it took Sloan’s breath away. Instantly, Sloan’s stomach cramped in response to the need for food rolling off Octnavin. 
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Sloan asked. “I know it’s not five-star cuisine in your fancy palace, but get off your high horse and eat some fruit.”
 Sloan rose and picked up an apple. 
“I cannot.” Octnavin didn’t even look at the offering. 
“Don’t be a stubborn ass.” Sloan waved the apple and then set the food down by Octnavin’s leg. Turning around, Sloan began to pick through the muddy pile. He grabbed the pieces that looked the least rotten. Quickly, he washed them at the little watering hole. “Here.” Sloan turned around. “These are still good.”
“I cannot eat them.” Octnavin waved his drinking tentacle. “They gave you food because you need all the help you can get, but they are trying to actively weaken me for the fights. It makes the betting better. I can only take in liquid.” Once again, Octnavin closed his eyes like he couldn’t even look at the fruit. 
Sloan sat back on his heels. This whole time he’d been eating, and Octnavin had been slowly starving. Why didn’t the alien ask for help? Sloan knew why. The king-ruler-warrior was a stubborn dick and he didn’t ask for help from anyone. He carried the weight of the world on his shoulders alone. 
Shaking his head, Sloan hunted in the fruit until he found a busted watermelon. One side was rotten, but the other side was perfect for making a bowl. After he broke the rind, he dug out the center and then washed his new container. Smiling, he decided all his work in the coffee shop was finally worth something. This might be the grossest smoothie ever, but it was food, and it was liquid. 
Sloan began to squeeze oranges into his rind bowl. After chewing apples, he spat the pulp into the makeshift container. He worked to find anything in the pile that was soft or liquid, and that was still in good condition. 
While Sloan chewed a banana, he added water. As he mushed fruit. he thought about how much he’d learned about Octnavin in the time they had been here. The alien was fearful of becoming a shitty ruler of his planet. He was lonely with only his siblings that he could talk to or trust. He felt the weight of Rhylent’s judgment every time his sibling didn’t like a decision he made. The planet’s political system was full of Dagerstanteens who would delight in pointing out how his creator was better than him. 
Sloan also learned that the alien had a hard time asking for help or saying please. He never apologized. Octnavin only thought of past mistakes as the best choice he could make at the time. It was crazy that Sloan had learned all that about the alien’s family, home, and life but had somehow missed that he was hungry.

It was then that Li Xueyue suddenly paid attention to their surroundings. Luckily for them, the hallway here was enclosed with a wall, which meant if someone was watching them that person would either be on their left or right. She took a panicked glance in both directions, wondering if anyone saw them. She didn't feel ashamed of what she had done, but she was still hesitant of a gossiping mouth.
"No one saw us. I would've noticed if they did," Yu Zhen informed her after noticing her take a peek.
"You didn't come with anyone today?" she asked, remembering he usually walked around with a handful of servants. She knew his guards were lurking somewhere, they always were—hidden in the shadows, out of sight, out of mind.
"My servants are outside. I didn't bring my guards today."
"Oh, why not?"
"I can handle my own," Yu Zhen explained, grabbing both of her hands. He lowered his gaze, his smile widened upon seeing the topaz ring on her finger. He brought her hand to his lips, kissing each of her knuckles.

"It's okay, Little Hamster," Yu Zhen mused. "Chewing food can exercise your cheeks."
"Shut up."
"Though, it won't build muscle if you're always working your jaw by eating." Yu Zhen chuckled as he pulled both of her cheeks. She nipped at his finger, like an aggravated kitten. 
"But that's okay," Yu Zhen added on, "I enjoy seeing you eat." He was relieved that she did not pick at her food, or hesitate over her manners. It was much more satisfying to eat with someone who enjoyed their food.
"Come," he smiled.
Her eyes widened, wondering if he knew how dirty it sounded. 
"—Let's get you fed. Shall we?" he concluded, his smile curling into a smirk at her panicked expression. What did she think he meant?
"You better not be joining us for breakfast," a cold voice commented down the hallway. 
Yu Zhen didn't have to turn his head to know who was talking to him. Only the Li Family were not frightful of his status. They spoke to him as they pleased, and he only allowed them to because Li Xueyue cared about them. If it was anyone else, they would've long lost their tongues. 
Li Xueyue, on the other hand, shifted her head in the direction of the voice. 
Li Chenyang was quickly approaching them with a disappointed look on his face. He was not pleased with them being so intimate, especially when Xueyue was supposed to not get so attached to him. Silly girl, what if Yu Zhen never came back for you? 
Li Chenyang's heart grew heavy at the idea. Just imaging her heartbreak and disappointment was enough for his scowl to deepen.
"Alright, break it up. You're ruining my appetite," he said. When his eyes shifted to Yu Zhen, he added on, "Ugh."
Yu Zhen quirked a brow. "Great, now I don't have to look at you when I eat."

"I think breakfast is getting cold," Li Xueyue spoke up, stomping roughly on Yu Zhen's foot. He responded by tightening his arms and teasingly kissing her hair.
Li Chenyang scoffed. "Please tell me you didn't invite this brute to join us for breakfast?"
"I invited myself."
"Does being shameless make you proud?" Li Chenyang bit out. "And I wasn't talking to you."
Yu Zhen ignored him. He grabbed Li Xueyue's hand and said, "Let's get you fed, Little Hamster."
"You're nicknaming my younger sister after a rat?!" Li Chenyang scowled, sharply turning to Xueyue. "That's it, he sucks. You need to find a better lover."

Noticing her confusion, Li Chenyang let out a laugh. "It's a great nickname, isn't it? Better than cheesy Sunshine or offensive Little Hamster."
Yu Zhen's eyes narrowed in displeasure. He decided this Li sibling did not need his tongue anymore.
Li Xueyue squeezed his hand. "Or you know," she said and nodded to both men, "You can just call me Xueyue."
"How boring," Yu Zhen frowned.
"Everyone calls you that," Li Chenyang scoffed.
They said it at the same time. Neither of them seemed happy to be in sync.
Li Xueyue let out an exasperated sigh. Breakfast was already rowdy with Li Wenmin's constant love for bickering with her or Chenyang. Today would be extra noisy, and without a doubt, at least one sibling would be reprimanded for their behavior.
"Are we going to eat, or what?" she angrily asked, becoming hangrier—hungry and angry—by the second. Her stomach was rumbling for food, and if she wasn't fed in the next five minutes, none of them were going to be happy.
"Fine, fine," Li Chenyang sighed, approaching her. In one rough push, he shoved Yu Zhen off of her. Happily, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and began to guide her forward.

"Alrighty." Li Chenyang chuckled, hoping to soothe her irritation. "Let's go." He attempted to reach for her hand again, but she crossed her arms.
Yu Zhen smirked and tucked an arm around her—victory was his! But in the next second, she shrugged him off.
Before any of them could attempt to assert their stupid alpha pride, Li Xueyue was already stomping down the hallway, ignoring their attempts of capturing her attention. If they wanted to argue and be petty, they should do it in their own free time. Not hers! Especially with Piglet Number One, Li Wenmin, who was no doubt, gobbling down the braised eggs before anyone could stop him!
