A chilling wave of destructive aura filled the room in an instant. Even Merlin felt suffocated at this moment and dared not take another step forward.
In front of him was a huge Runic Magic Circle like a clear glass crystal. There was a power that was as thick as a pillar inside, at the same time, exuding an overwhelmingly vicious aura.

Daven opened the book about the "Arc of Embodiment". It was a pretty old book and on it's illustrations was mentioned, 


'This book is mostly a book from ancient times from before the reign of dragons. It is a very powerful magic which I acquired in an ancient but deadly ruin.


That ruin was the tomb of a powerful mage before the dragon wars four hundred years ago. 


The name of the mage is lost in time, but the ruins mentioned the valour of the mage.


The ruins had pictures depicting his life, his fights and his death.


They mentioned how he could fight dragons on equal grounds and made God be weary of him. In the end, he was hurt badly by a God in a fight, or argument I don't know. 


But before his death, he built this ruin where I found the original book of     "Arc of Embodiment".  The book itself is mysterious and even years of experience and strength I earned over the years weren't enough for me to see through the entire book. 


I only managed to read a fourth of the book about how this magic can be utilised.


From my experience there I can conclude that someone left his magic  heritage there and awaits a suitable host for it.


When you master all the spells in this book, a certain thought will appear on your mind symbolising you passed the first test. 


Then a map would appear which would lead you to the ruin itself. The ruin has a powerful cloaking magic around it which prevents the existence of the place to be known .


I only stumbled there by mistake and left. I would have perished myself had it not been for Mavis help. Even after her death, she could help me. 


Since you could read this preface, means you are someone who could truly master the lost magic and could gain the heritage. 

The moment I mentioned the rune to you through the letter, you are also included in this little secret and the affect of cloaking magic. You cannot reveal this to anyone. 


So train well young mage for your journey is full of  thorns.


After I got this knowledge I browsed through the other ancient books and found mention of the magic" Arc of Embodiment" but none of the mage were as powerful as that ancient mage.

The two book had both the spells of the rune as well as the other less powerful magic tricks. They are a combination of both the book still in that ruin and the other mentioned about the other old notes. 


Only the one in the ruin was completely undamaged while others had some points and information missing. There will be some views of my own in the book  so sorry if they mislead you a little. 


Every mage has his own views and opinion about their magic which different two mages using the same magic. 


They will guide you in the future. If you master them all, you would become a powerful mage not weaker than me. And if you want to be really know the bigger world, you must head for the ruin once in your lifetime. 

The trip opened my eyes to the world and I saw how big the world outside Fiore really is. 

But be cautious. If you enter the ruin you may be a part of some feud or conspiracy from Thousands of years ago. Before you are truly powerful never go there. 


If you want to have a chance of survival and returning alive, go there only when you could take on multiple S rank mage at a time. 


And don't forget to enjoy the life, for life is precious and couldn't be wasted alone like I did in my early and later parts of life.


Second Guild Master of Fairy Tail

There had once been many divine weapons in the Myers Mainland, but that had been tens of thousands of years ago. Back then, humans had still been able to create magic equipment that was similar in strength to these divine weapons. These pieces of equipment had been passed down and known as half-divine weapons. The Holy See considered them fake weapons.
The Holy See only considered the weapons that had been created by the God of Light and gifted to his followers to be divine weapons, and this Seal of Divine Power was one of them.
The Bramble Crown, God Grace Staff, and the Seal of Divine Power. These three divine weapons belonged to the Holy See. Without them, the pope would not have been able to control the seven oracles who had similar powers. If the pope fell by chance, there would be no appointed pope who would take over, and the leaders of the Holy See would need to take over the duties of the pope until a new pope was chosen.
The pope had been at the peak of Grade 9 power, and with three divine weapons, he had naturally been able to command the oracles, cardinals, and the tribunal. Without the three divine weapons, the pope would have been like an emperor without his army. Aside from his symbolic meaning, he would not have any power.
The divine weapons of the pope were not simple piece of divine equipment. They possessed the ability to communicate with the gods. Having gained this Seal of Divine Power, it felt as though Saleen were holding onto a melting gold coin. It would not be wise to hold onto it, and yet he could not throw it aside either. If he brought this back to the Myers Mainland, it would surely be noticed by the God of Light and they would send out a divine decree. The Holy See would pay any price to get back this small seal.
Leaving this behind in the interdimensional space did not seem right either, and this was something that Saleen was sure of. The fact that Viscountess Lex had been banished to the god’s hell was not something that could be concealed, and once she returned, the Holy See would find this interdimensional space that was connected to the Myers Mainland.
Once the Holy See found their way here, the Seal of Divine Power would likely return to them. Hence, Saleen wanted to hide this divine weapon in his Ring of Gifts, for only the equipment of the Myers Goddess could mask the scent of the God of Light.
Saleen had a deep hatred for the Holy See. If he could not use it himself, he would not let them use it either.
Nailisi stored the remains of Raphael and Saleen returned to sit beside the table. Six magic arrays were hidden under the table and each belonged to a different type of element. Saleen tried to activate the water element magic array, and a drawer beside his left hand suddenly sprung open.
Within the drawer was a cubic box and on its surface was a snowflake pattern formed naturally in the metal. Opening the box, there was a magic book and a ring inside. The crystal-clear ring was placed atop the book, and Saleen could not feel any powers coming from inside it.
The only thing Saleen could confirm was that the quality of the ring surpassed his own knowledge of materials. He knew that even the spear of god’s punishment would not be able to destroy it.
Saleen put away the ring and picked up the book below. It had a white cover with no title, and on the lower right corner was a small signature: Raphael Jabba.
Saleen flipped through the white magic book and quickly scanned through it, unintentionally realizing that it was a combat magic book.
Although magic books and combat magic books differed by a single word, they were two completely different things. A magic book was used to note down magic knowledge while a combat magic book was assaultive equipment and could be used to pass down magic as well.
Combat magic books were incredibly hard to make and the special materials within the pages of the book could allow the release methods and effects of a mage’s magic to reach their full potential. Even if a person did not have a teacher, they could still study by following the contents of a combat magic book.
A combat magic book usually marked a stage of a person’s lineage.
Like the bronze magic book, eighteen spells were written within. From Grade 1 to Grade 3, each grade had the methods of study for six different spells. These six spells each belonged to one of the six types of magic elements. With a bronze magic book, even without a teacher, a magic disciple could follow the knowledge written within the book to advance all the way to a Grade 3 mage.
At the same time, the bronze magic book had eighteen spells that were the same as the eighteen spells from Grade 1 to 3 of the six different elements. Most importantly, within a bronze magic book, the mage who created it would leave their experiences of advancing to a grand mage.
With a bronze magic book, one had the opportunity to become a Grade 4 mage. Although this promotion process would take a very long time, for many magic disciples without a teacher, even spending decades on the promotion was worth it. Without a teacher, they had no chance of becoming a mage.
The white combat magic book only recorded Water Magic and did not have the ability to store any spells. Saleen flipped the book back to the first page, and on it were some words written in the Myers Language: Crystal Ring, the Beginning of Grade 6 Magic.
Flipping to the next page, Raphael had not recorded anything strange, and just like any combat magic book, it listed the meaning of this Grade 6 magic and anything one should avoid when it came to these spells.
Crystal ring was a spell that not many people would use and just like the Ice Ring spell, it had an unusually short effective range. For mages, a distance like this could nearly be considered close combat. The advantages of this spell were unusually striking too, for it not only had incredible assaultive powers, but it could continuously become stronger and evolve. In fact, the combat magic book had the methods for learning the Crystal Ring spell from Grade 6 to Grade 10.
This spell had side effects even though it had unparalleled assaultive strength. In addition to depleting more than twice the magic chords of spells of the same grade, it would cause extreme pain within a mage’s head.
Once a person released the crystal ring, the spell’s assaultive powers would retaliate on the mage’s body. When Raphael had created this spell, he had already modified his body and even his strong bones had not been able to ensure his safety, only reducing the pain on his body.
Hence, regardless of whether it was a scroll or a magic book, nothing could withstand the strength of the crystal ring.
In the end, Raphael created a tough crystal ring to withstand the backlash of this spell. This was the ring that Saleen had taken. This allowed the assaultive strength of the crystal ring to not be restricted by the physical condition of the mage. However, this reduced the effective range of the magic even more.
Because the depletion of a person’s magic chords were twice that of other spells of the same grade, only mages who had reached Grade 3 could learn the Crystal Ring spell. This spell could be upgraded and would reach the peak of its abilities along with the increase in the grade of the mage.
Behind it were contents on how to go about studying the spell. Saleen was only a Grade 4 mage and had not grasped Grade 6 magic yet. He put away the combat magic book without any regret. During this time where he would have no guidance from any teachers, he finally had the ability to study on his own.
Even though the crystal ring did not have much use in combat, it was a spell that could be upgraded. Through continuous study, even without the guidance of any teacher after Grade 6, Saleen would be able to find the path to a promotion through this magic.
Saleen had his icy sight and together with the Figaro formula, he was already able to study magic on his own. However, this required him to continuously observe the magic that others released or to release magic on his own with magic scrolls and observe how those spells were formed, analyzing and breaking them down. This method of studying magic was too slow and a great deal of time was needed in breaking down the secrets of a spell. Furthermore, studying it at a later time required it to be adjusted according to the condition of one’s own body. If a person possessed a combat magic book, they could understand the feelings immediately using their focus.
The other five drawers must have contained knowledge of the other five types of magic. Saleen did not open the drawers. Instead, he checked the size of the table again and stored it into his Ring of Gifts.
During the time they had spent in god’s hell, Saleen and Lex had trained their wills far more than they had in the past decade altogether, and had become more mature as well. In the past, Saleen had only been able to hide his emotions, but now looking at the secrets of the crystal ring, he only put it away and would wait until he had advanced to study it. The joy in his heart was barely noticeable.
While others could not learn the crystal ring while they were Grade 5 since they did not have enough magic chords, Saleen had twice the amount of magic chords as mages of the same grade. Hence, he would be at the perfect grade to learn this spell.
Originally, Saleen had obtained four combat magic books. Three of them were blank, and the demon magic book was missing its main contents. Now, this combat magic book had filled in the blanks nicely.
For Saleen, what was most important was reestablishing a firm foundation. He had advanced from the Grade 1 to Grade 3 too quickly and had only grasped more than ten Water Magic spells. He still did not have a complete understanding of the elements. When he had been Grade 4, this had not been too much of a problem, but once he reached Grade 6 and was about to become a sorcerer, this would become a problem.
It was time to start filling in the bronze magic book. Saleen was vaguely aware of the changes in his journey down the path of a mage.
If he continued advancing in this fashion, even if he managed to break the limits of Grade 6 and become a sorcerer, he would come across an unbreakable obstacle once he reached Grade 9. He had gained a great deal of experience but had not been able to digest them all. If his teacher learned of this, he would be very disappointed.
"Lex, let’s go to the tenth floor." Saleen did not look at the books. Since the ninth floor belonged to him, he would use this place as a temporary training shelter before they left.
Lex hesitated. The nine floors earlier had been split equally between the two of them. What would there be on the tenth floor? Saleen did not propose any ways to split the tenth floor and hence Lex did not say anything either.
Saleen was not her subordinate and his teacher had originated from Alchemy City. Hence, ever since Saleen had become a grand mage, Lex had begun to view Saleen as her equal.
Saleen laughed and pointed upwards with his fingers. He said, "What’s yours will be yours and what’s mine shall be mine."
Lex understood. What Saleen meant was that if the item could be used by the country, it would be hers. If it was only equipment that a single mage could use, it would be Saleen’s.
"What if they aren’t easy to split?" Lex said without much thought, regretting her words almost immediately. She was not a petty person. It was simply that this magic tower was too important, and if she could establish a permanent teleportation portal, this place could be a vast supporting area for the Bitter Water Prefecture.
Bitter Water Prefecture did not have much harvest and the matter of forming a county was not too important. The fields that had been established were enough to feed the people in the city, but once a county was established, the surrounding cities would be her territory as well and the number of citizens under her management would increase by a hundred times. Then, Lex would need to consider the issue of her harvests.
"If they are not easy to split, then they can be ours together." Saleen did not put much thought into his words and Lex’s face turned a rare shade of red. Hmph, this brat has just been promoted. Could he already have some ideas of his own?


It is said that the true meaning of a mage is to fully understand the truth of the world. A mage named Saleen Metatrin goes on many missions as a normal mage to try and change his fate. This in turn led to many problems and adventures.  

Geresco was born in the last year of the Dark Age. In that century, the cruel rule of the High Elves reached its peak. Revolts and repression were omnipresent, and every inch of land in Anril was stained with fresh blood.
The parents of Geresco were the two most famous mages of Felan Kingdom. Such a family background gave Geresco the best and strictest magic education from young. He became an Archmage at the age of 20, reached the Legendary-realm being 23 years old, and entered the Sanctuary-realm at the age of 30. His talent in magic was unprecedented. 
In the final battle, Geresco defeated the entire Magic Legion alone. He killed the invincible queen of the High Elves and put a stop to the legendary period, the Dark Age. 
That battle raised Geresco's reputation to the peak. He became the strongest mage in all history and the mortal who was the closest to God. He was the living magic god.
However, the magic god rejected all requests for him to stay, and returned to Alanna alone. He lived in a tall tower in the northwest of Alanna for two decades, and modified the Magic System. Apart from making magic more suitable to be studied by humans, Geresco established the Supreme Council and the magic guilds under it. He made improvements to the environment for learning magic so that it would be accessible to all human beings.
Those were the two most important things that happened in the history of Anril. In Andoine's words, the two deeds done by Geresco had helped to speed up the development of magic in the human world by 1000 years. If not for him, human mages would have still been exploring the concept of magic ignorantly. It meant that humans would need another 1000 years to achieve the same glory as the High Elves.
Geresco's outstanding contributions sped up the development of human study of magic. The human mages now were not as strong as the High Elves. The High Elves were seen as the most perfect creatures that ever lived, and had a great natural advantage. In that era, High Elves who reached adulthood would at least have the ability of a Magic Shooter. Reaching the Archmage-level was as common as a stage of growing up. Amongst the nobles of the High Elves, it was very common to be at the Legendary-realm. The royalty was also expected to reach the Sanctuary-realm to have the right to the throne.
Furthermore, High Elves had a very long lifespan. That was not what human beings could compare themselves to—unless they reached the Archmage-realm, they would only live for 50 or 60 years. Even if one were to become an Archmage, he would only live up to 100 years. Only the Legendary-realm would allow one to live up to 500 years. Of course, once a human entered the Sanctuary-realm, he would be like a High Elf. Just like Apophis: if he wanted to, he could live another 1300 years. 
The two advantages naturally gave the High Elves incredible strength.
However, humans had their own perks as well…
First and foremost, humans were more numerous compared to the High Elves. There were at least 1000 times more humans than High Elves. According to the records from the Dark Age, the heyday of the High Elves barely saw a population count of 220,000. On the other hand, there were already a few billion people in the Felan Kingdom. Even if there was only one outstanding mage from every 100,000 humans, humans would be more powerful than the High Elves.
Furthermore, unlike humans, the High Elves did not have the ability to improve.
The magic of the High Elves Print was all inherited from the ancient Dragon and Titan languages. That was the strongest force of magic in the world. In the words of the High Elves, this ability came from the gods. However, apart from Osric and a few geniuses, no other High Elf made any alterations or innovations to magic throughout the entire Dark Age. 
Humans, however, had been enhancing magic theories and concepts ever since the Magic System had been established by Geresco 1300 years ago. Talents from the subsequent generations used their own intelligence to improve that system. Although human magic was not more powerful than the magic the High Elves had inherited from the Dragon and Titan languages, it was the most suitable magic for humans to study.
Although humans had yet to recreate the glory and civilization that the High Elves had established in the field of magic after 1300 years, their refined combat skills were comparable to, or rather, better than the High Elves'. After all, the human population was greater than that of the High Elves. The death of a mage would see him replaced by many new mages.
Everything was due to Geresco's efforts.
The establishment of a Magic System for humans, and the building of the Supreme Council and magic guilds, allowed human magic to develop so excellently till today. 
In the entire history of Anril, there was no other name more glorious than Geresco's. Even the creator of the High Elves Dynasty, the Immortal King would not have been able to surpass Geresco's fame. After all, it had been ages since the Immortal King's era. That honorable past had already sunk deep beneath the dust of history.
"I had a bet with Geresco 1300 years ago. However, I have lost…" There was a sense of dismay underlying Tutankhamun's voice. "According to the deal, I have to stay in the Blackstone Mountains to protect some of his things until people arrive to claim them." 
"You mean… You mean that those things… those things…" Hutton's voice shook terribly. He nearly bit his tongue while talking.
Any mage would know that although Geresco did not leave behind many things in Anril, each of his possession could be described as a priceless treasure. One of the most valuable item would be the magic staff in Alanna Guild of Magic. That magic staff had been protecting Alanna Guild of Magic for a period of 1300 years. That guild maintained its noble status ever since, and everyone who entered the guild had to bow to the magic staff. These people included the king of Felan, the Pope of the Brilliance Shrine, and the arbitrators of the Supreme Council. 
The inheritance from the magic god not only embodied extreme mystery, but also gave anyone in possession of it the recognition of the magic god, just like the Supreme Council and Alanna Guild of Magic. 
"That's right, it is you two…" Tutankhamun said as he reached out his finger and pointed at Hutton, and then at Stephen. "Your ancestors were disciples of Geresco. Me and Geresco had a bet that required me to pass his inheritance to the descendants of his disciples after 1300 years if I lost the bet—"
"Mr. Tutankhamun, may I ask what item it is?" Stephen interrupted excitedly. The inheritance of Geresco would be enough to let the Dark Blade rule over the entire Breezy Plains.
"Geresco left behind three items. A magic book, a key, and a magical crystal." Tutankhamun told the men openly.
"Magic book?" Hutton's eyes was wide open. He was filled with bewilderment. "Y-you mean… The Book of Eternity?"
"Yes."
"Oh my God…" Hutton exclaimed, dazed. He could not say another word. The Book of Eternity was a legend by itself!
It was said that each human mage of the Dark Age owned a unique magic book. It was extremely challenging for humans to practice magic during that era. Unlike the High Elves, they could neither comprehend the dragon scripture nor the language of the Titans. Having no opportunity to enter any guild of magic then, they could only learn directly from human mentors. Apart from Geresco, the other human mages only had one mage apprentice as they only had one magic book each.
To the human mages then, the magic book represented the knowledge and experience they had gained in their life. While Geresco's book similarly recorded his knowledge about magic and experience from his research, his book had another function.
Geresco, the man who was born on the last year of the Dark Age, had a unique magic book. That book was called the Book of Eternity. Its pages were made from the Tree of Eternity, while the ink used to write the spells in the book was personally extracted from the Tree of Eternity by Geresco.
People who had experienced that era would know the value of Geresco's Book of Eternity. The book itself had infinite powers. There were also many human mages who treated the book as the strongest magical weapon of that era!
However, no one knew where the book vanished when Geresco disappeared. That was a concern shared by mages in Anril. Many Legendary-mages believed that anyone who could lay his hands on the Book of Eternity would make it to the Sanctuary-realm in a breeze.
Of course, that belief might not be entirely true. After all, no one other than Geresco had seen the Book of Eternity. Yet, there was something that would not be doubted: the powers of the Book of Eternity would definitely not lose to Alanna's magic staff's.
As Tutankhamun nodded his head gently, the air within the wooden house became very stale. No one expected that Geresco had left behind such a treasure. Now, even Lin Li, who was not involved in the matter, could not help but hold his breath…

[A few days ago]
After my mother was taken to another room so that she may rest. I started to ponder upon our conversation earlier. I had asked the old maid earlier as to how did they heal the life-threatening wound of my abdomen so quickly. But she gave a confused look and told me that I was only injured at my shoulders and thighs.
But how can that be? 
I did get my abdomen cut open now, didn't I? So why was I completely fine when they found me? I clearly remember experiencing a terrifying amount of pain too.
I tried thinking but soon gave up. I then remembered the Black Book that I had seen before. I had tried asking about it to the maid too but she said that they found nothing of such sort near the site. I sighed and spoke while making myself comfortable on my bed.
「At the end what was it? I wonder.......」 I muttered to myself in helplessness.
The moment I said that the Black Book abruptly appeared in front of me, hovering in the air.
I was stunned. I started screaming and fell down the bed. It hurt my butt and the injuries from before started to act up but that didn't concern me right now. I took the blanket that I had been using to wrap myself with and hid inside it on the floor.
「AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!」
Hearing my scream, the old maid, who had not gone too far from my room came rushing in and asked-
「W-what happened, Young master? Why did you scream just now?」
「T-there! It's floating there! The Black Book!」
I said while pointing at the place I just saw the book. But to my surprise, she spoke in a tone of confusion.
「What do you mean, Young master? There is nothing of such sorts present there.」
「I AM NOT JOKING! I SAW THE BLACK BOOK LITERALLY FLOATING IN FRONT OF ME JUST NOW!」
However, the old maid told me to rest saying that the trauma from the incident might be affecting me right now and that I would slowly get over it. After tucking me into my bed once again, she left. 
I looked around. I even looked under my bed! Where did the Black Book disappear?
「But I saw it just now.....」 
I mumbled to myself. The moment she left the room, the Black Book appeared once again. I was about to scream once more but stopped myself.
Am I really hallucinating?
Thinking so I got up from the bed and slowly moved towards the book. It was giving off a very faint light. I tried touching it. 
However, to my surprise, my hand just passed through the book. I tried to touch it from all different side but each time my hand just breezed through it. I could see it, feel its presence but could not touch it.
「What the hell?.....」 I spoke in that empty room dumbfounded.

[Present]
I looked towards the Black Book that was levitating in front of me. 
First of all, I had come to realize that this is not some kind of illusion.
I had also come to discover the nature of this book from the past few days. This Book can appear or disappear on my will, however, as soon as it senses any other living being that comes within certain proximity it disappears on its own. Also, I can't physically touch the book, but that does not mean that I can't open it though. The pages of the book flip according to what I desire.
「Left!」
The moment I thought so, the book's pages started to turn from the left. It took me quite some time to come to these observations. However, even if I have come to know the method to use the book, it becomes completely useless because I can't even read what written inside.
I had been investigating this book non-stop for the past few days but I couldn't find anything related to it in the study.
I sighed and look towards the Black Book that was still hovering around me.
「Disappear!」
The book vanished without leaving a trace as if it wasn't there in the first place.
「It's almost as if it is Magic.....」
The moment I said so, my eyes opened wide.
Magic! Why didn't I think of this before?
Of course, it has to be Magic! How else could the book appear or disappear out of thin air then?
I smiled but then it hit me.
Wait, if it actually is Magic then how am I able to use it then?
From what I remember, I do not have an aptitude for Magic. But if that's the case then this doesn't explain the current situation. I pondered upon it for a bit more before rubbing my hair in frustration.
「I am not getting anywhere like this, guess the only way is to know is to check my Magic aptitude again.」
Saying so, I started looking for the crystal ball that is lying somewhere in the study.

Back in the study, I pulled out the crystal ball. Judging by the state of the crystal ball, I doubt that anyone ever touched it after me a year ago. Well, that makes sense though.
「Let's see... What was the first step again? Ah! First, hold up both hands and cover the crystal ball.」
I followed the instructions that were mentioned in the book from what I remember and noticed that the crystal ball began to give off a weak light that shone with all the colours of the rainbow.
Well, this happened last time too. From what I remember I think this is normal for all people. Anyway, the next step is the one which counts. I need to envision myself absorbing the rainbow light into my palms and imagine it circulating throughout my body.
I sighed. 
Because I had already tried this a year ago and failed, I had almost little to no hope. I wouldn't have ever done this again was it not for that mysterious book that has been eating away at my curiosity for the past few days.
While looking at the crystal ball I tried to do the same. I did it with almost no interest at all. 
The moment I tried to envision myself absorbing it. The rainbow light disappears from the crystal ball and it felt like my body gradually becomes warmer.
「........Huh?」
I gave a small squeal. My posture suddenly became stiff and my muscles became rigid. A sudden coldness suddenly hit me at my core. There even was a heavy feeling in my stomach. 
I was in a feeling of disorientation, dizziness and euphoria. A slow and shaky smile was building up as the surprise was slowly sinking in. Reaching up a hand to lightly clasp my throat, I spoke in an unsteady voice–soft, halting, disbelieving.
「...I can use Magic?」
I wanted to give a quick bark of laughter but restrained myself. I tried it once more just to make sure. The result was the same.
「I-It's real, I can use Magic!」 
I jumped around in excitement slipped and fell on the floor. I felt pain but it was nothing compared to the bliss I was currently feeling.
What the hell!? How? Why? When?
I was confused with questions that had no answers. I even forgot the reason why I had wanted to check my aptitude in the first place. 
I was so overjoyed that I couldn't even think straight at the moment. I quickly got up and started searching for the Magic book. I finally found it in the most remote corner of the study.
Who the hell kept this here, huh?
I cursed the person who did this, little the while knowing that it was me all along. But that doesn't matter right now.
While holding it in my hand, I was quivering with excitement. I wanted to scream and tell everyone that I could use Magic! But I shouldn't, not right now. There might be a chance that the crystal ball is just malfunctioning.
Also, the situation of the house is not in the most ideal state due to me.

So, yeah. I will tell them but not right now. I will let the situation settle down a little.
I tried to clear my mind and focused myself as I flipped the pages of the book looking for what to do after determining if we have the aptitude for Magic.
「The next step is to learn to circulate mana within your body. Ideally, you should do so each day while slowly counting to 100.」
According to the book, the next step is to expend mana in large quantities, which will drain my magic sac and stress my magic pathways, which will cause my mana capacity to expand and my magic power to increase.
「Circulate mana. The volume at which you can move mana through your magic pathways will determine the strength of the spells that you can use, and practising circulating mana will cause that volume to increase. Focus the mana into your magic sac. As you consciously feed mana into the magic sac, the magic sac will expand and your total mana capacity will increase.」
The book further explained the above process in a more detail manner with some colourful diagrams.
「However, every person has a limit. If you do not feel an increase in your power and capacity after three consecutive days of practice, it is very likely that you have reached your limit and will no longer experience growth. Once you reach your limit, you should work to improve your mana control and accuracy, as well as learn several different types of magic for which you have an affinity.」
So, in addition to growing my mana capacity, I should work on training my accuracy and controlling my mana output to adjust the power of my spells. This will also eventually cause my mana consumption to become more efficient, allowing me to cast the same spells using less mana.
I see. Research on the topic has reached a fairly advanced level, but the state chooses not to withhold the facts from the public. Apparently, that is because, even though many people have the opportunity to attempt these training methods, very few will ever succeed in becoming magicians. Still, for someone gifted in magic to have access to these texts is a tremendous boon, even if the demand for them will never really increase.
After reading regarding the topic some more, I proceeded towards the thing that excited me the most.
『Introduction to beginner's Magic and its classification』
I read the title out loud and felt like something inside me tingled. I started to smile once again but controlled myself and proceeded to read it.
Reading through it, I understood a few basics.
1. First of all, magic can be broadly classified into three categories.
"Attack Magic"── Attacks a target.
"Healing Magic"── Heals a target.
"Support Magic"── Support can temporarily enhance a variety of a target's performance.
Three types. Easy to understand.
There are various functions, but according to the guidebook, magic was originally developed for war. It still isn't really used much besides battle and hunting.
2. Next, to use magic, you must have mana.
Conversely, as long as you have mana, you could use magic.
There are two ways of using mana.
"Use the mana within your body"
"Draw out mana from something that contains mana"
It must be one of these two.
A long time ago, people used only their mana to use magic; as generations passed, magic was researched into, the difficulty spiked, and the mana required increased exponentially as a result.
This was fine for the people who had a lot of mana, but those with lesser mana couldn't use that sort of magic.
Thus, the magicians of the past thought of ways to draw out mana from elsewhere to fulfil the magic's requirements.
3. There are two ways to activate the magic.
"Incantation"
"Magic Array"
There's really no need to explain here, right? To activate a spell, either to utter a chant through the mouth, or draw magic arrays. What separates magic arrays from incantations is that magic arrays can even be used by people without aptitude for magic. However, the power of an incantation will always be greater than that of a magic array.
4. Magic is said to be divided into 9 Spell tier levels that are used to symbolise its power.
"Basic"(Low-level spells) ── The weakest class of spell. Beginner's magic
"Gou"(First level spells) ── Strengthened Basic spells. Intermediate magic
"Dino"(Second level spells) ── The size of a spell is further increased. Intermediate magic
"Raja"(Third level spells) ── The spell is one that has a wide area of effect. Advanced magic
���Teo"(Fourth level spells) ── The spell gains an increase in destructive power. Advanced magic
"Ma"(Fifth level spells) ── Lost magic.
"Gigano"(Sixth level spells) ── Lost magic.
"Dioga"(Seventh level spells) ── Lost magic.
"Shin"( Eighth level spells) ── Lost magic.
According to the book, the spells for the fourth tier and above were lost thousands of years ago and have no information on them. Therefore they can no longer be used.
After getting a brief overview of the usage of magic. I moved on to learn Basic level spells.
The next thing to do is to learn beginner's magic.
Since it was for beginners, the spells were really quite small, such as conjuring a flame on your fingertips roughly the same size as a burning match, filling a small cup with water, creating a tiny whirlwind in the palm of your hand, or transforming a bit of dirt into a sharp little shard and throwing it at something. The instructions said to keep repeating this sort of low-level magic.
Having read these instructions, I feel that I have all of the necessary tools to attempt low-level spells.
According to the book, it isn't necessary to chant or draw magic circles for small spells. Some people choose to draw circles, chant incantations, shout out a word, or even add a repetitive action, such as swinging the staff or wand in a particular motion.
Nobody seems to look down upon the use of such methods if they result in the magician increasing his accuracy or output.
「Please refer to the intermediate edition of this series if you completed the course of study laid out in this edition in roughly one week」
Since I really did hope to qualify for the Intermediate course, I decided to flip through the intermediate book just in case.
As expected, the Intermediate book has instructions for casting higher level spells, such as fire arrows, ice arrows, wind blades, and rock missiles that can skewer an enemy from a distance, as well as simple body enhancements that can improve speed, strength and agility.
「Since I'm going to be alone for a month anyway, I'll just practise magic every day.」
A week later I had completed the beginner course.
