Professor Jien Wang came to Korea to participate in a symposium. After he completed his schedule, he came straight to GH Mobile in Jiksan Town with Attorney Young-Jin Kim from Kim & Jeong Law Firm. They didn't even stop by a rest area on the way.
"I like this factory. It looks very well built."
After they looked around at the factory yard, they walked up to the second floor where the president's office was located. Gun-Ho was so happy to see them.
"Hey, Jien Wang!"
"Gun-Ho Goo! It's really good to see you, friend."
"Long time no see, Attorney Kim. Have a seat."
After having a handshake, the three men finally sat on chairs.
"So, you are done with the symposium?"
"Yes, I came straight here to see you, Gun-Ho, after the symposium."
"I know Attorney Kim came here once when we had the building dedication ceremony, but this must be your first time here, right, Jien Wang?"
"I took a quick glance of the factory on the way up to your office. I know I came here before, but the factory looks different somehow."
"You haven't been to the production field yet, have you?"
"No, I haven't yet."
"Maybe you can have a tour of the factory first before we leave to play golf."
Gun-Ho made a call to Jong-Suk Park and asked him to come to his office.
Jong-Suk Park soon came to Gun-Ho's office. He was wearing the GH Mobile uniform.
"This is our plant manager."
"Oh, Chang Zhang (factory manager)!"
Jien Wang extended his hand to Jong-Suk for a handshake.
"I think I have seen this person before."
"Probably so, since he is a very good friend of mine. He is like a brother to me. Jong-Suk, please give my two friends here on a tour of our factory."
 
Jong-Suk took Professor Jien Wang and Attorney Young-Jin Kim to his daily workplace—the production field.
When the workers in the production field saw two men in a business suit coming to the worksite while following their plant manager, they thought Professor Wang and Attorney Kim were the investigators from a buyer company to check their factory. And they got busy cleaning the worksite by organizing incomplete products and moving the defective products somewhere that wasn't so obvious.
After observing the products pouring out of extruding machines and molding machines, Jien Wang nodded his head.
"Gun-Ho Goo is indeed an incredible man."
The machines in the factory were being maintained extremely clean; thanks to My Machine program. The machines were placed in a very well organized way, and the factory overall was neat and clean.
"I can't believe this factory maintains the cleanliness to this level. I haven't seen a factory this clean in China."
Attorney Young-Jin Kim was interpreting for Professor Jien Wang. Whenever Jong-Suk Park explained about the production system, Attorney Kim interpreted it into Chinese for Professor Wang. The production workers, who were paying attention to the visitors, were wondering as they saw them speaking in English.
"They are speaking in English. They are not the investigators from our customer companies then. Are they Korean Americans?"
"It seems like."
The workers were interested in the visitors to their worksite.
Jien Wang took out his smartphone to take some pictures of the factory when Jong-Suk stopped him.
"Taking a picture is not allowed in our factory. I am sorry about it. If you really need to do so, you need to get permission from President Goo first."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know that."
Professor Jien Wang put his smartphone back to his pocket.
After taking a tour of the production field, they went back to the second floor to Gun-Ho's office.
"How was it?"
"Wow. I couldn't believe what I saw. It was so clean. I think I need to send some of the Chinese factory owners here to learn."
"I am sure Chinese factories are clean enough too."
"I'm serious. I was very impressed. The business owners in China should learn from you."
"Shall we head to the country club now?"
"Sounds good."
 
Gun-Ho took Jien Wang and Young-Jin Kim to Sangrok Country Club. It was located very close to his GH Mobile factory in Jiksan Town.
"So, this is the country club that is operated by the National Pension Service of Korea, huh?"
When Jien Wang recalled what he heard from Gun-Ho about Sangrok Country Club, Attorney Young-Jin Kim was surprised.
"Jien Wang! You seem to know more about things in Korea than me."
"Nah. Gun-Ho Goo told me the other day."
While Gun-Ho and Young-Jin brought their own golf clubs, Jien Wang had to borrow a full set of golf gear including golf gloves and golf shoes. Gun-Ho paid for everything with a credit card, including a golf cart and golf caddies.
"Gun-Ho Goo, you are spending money again for us."
"That's okay. I'm using my company credit card."
Gun-Ho waved the credit card as he said so.
"This is what I like about a businessman. Many professors are not so cool when it comes to payment for anything."
The golf course was not busy at all since it was a weekday.
Attorney Young-Jin Kim was very good at golfing as expected while Gun-Ho Goo and Jien-Wang made frequent mistakes in hitting the golf ball. They often made over par.
"Let's take a break. It has been a while since the last time I played golf. I feel tired already. Why don't we take a rest at the Shade House over there?"
"Sure."
The Shade House in the forest had a great view of the golf course. The three men had fruit beverages while looking at the view.
"Attorney Kim, are you playing golf like everyday? You can't be this good otherwise."
"Haha. I just started playing golf at an early age when I was in school. I used to play golf with my dad when I was little."
"I see. No wonder why people from a wealthy family usually play golf very well."
"Aren't you from a wealthy family too, Jien Wang? You studied in the U.S. at Yale University. It must cost a lot to travel from China to the U.S. and study there. I thought you could do so because of your family's stable financial support."
"Not necessarily. My father is a college professor just like me. I could study abroad because the Zhejiang government granted me a scholarship. We shouldn't talk about who has more money in front of Gun-Ho Goo. He is the richest among us. The god of wealth seems to be attached to Gun-Ho only."
Gun-Ho was thinking while having his beverage.
'That's right. I am the man with ShinWangJaeWang fate.'
 
"I wish Seukang Li is here with us today."
"Yeah. Oh, Seukang Li asked me how you are doing. He said he wants to meet you, Gun-Ho."
"Me? Why?"
"As you know, Seukang Li is in charge of the bureau of cultural affairs and media. His office is hosting a book exhibition in Shanghai, and he said a lot of publishing companies from other countries participated in it, and that helped his work a lot. He heard that you, President Goo, have a publishing company called GH Media. He wants you to come and join him in the book exhibition."
"GH Media usually publishes American or Japanese books after translating into the Korean language. I don't think we have any books we can participate in the book exhibition in Shanghai with."
"What about you publishing Chinese books?"
"President Jeong-Sook Park of GH Media said she doesn't do Chinese books because they are not very popular."
"I see. That makes sense. I was told that they stopped printing out my book after the second edition. Chinese books are not very fun to read, even for me. But I want to help Seukang Li in some way…"
Gun-Ho recalled the fact that Seukang Li helped GH Parts Company's business by introducing a window manufacturing company to Min-Hyeok Kim. And that increased the company's sales revenue. Gun-Ho wanted to help Seukang Li as well.
"Well, I guess I can still participate in his book exhibition."
"Seukang Li will be very happy if you can just participate."

At the golf course.
Shen Youran was sitting at the rest area and dispiritedly twisted the cap of the mineral water bottle open to take a sip. 
Although it was not midsummer yet, as long as she exercised a little, beads of sweat would immediately appear on her forehead.
Not too far away from her, Shen Yaoting and one of the higher-ups of another company were excitedly playing golf.
Both of their golfing skills were on par with each other; hence, they had been playing for two hours yet nobody had won the game. 
Today was Saturday, and she initially planned to book a two-day tour with two of her colleagues. 
However, when she was eating dinner last night, Shen Yaoting told her that he asked someone out to play golf and discuss a project today so he told her to come along to relax. 
She knew clearly in her heart that Shen Yaoting would not bring her out for no reason.
However, two hours had passed and she still could not tell Shen Yaoting's intention for bringing her out. 
After they had reached the golf course, Shen Yaoting and Deputy President Zeng greeted each other and immediately took their golf club to play golf. They did not look as if they were here to discuss a project. It was more like they were here to play golf.
Her golfing skills were so-so. As such, she played for only a while and started getting bored. She was too lazy to move and took her phone out to browse the latest news. 
When she raised her head again, Shen Yaoting and Deputy President Zeng had already stopped playing and were walking toward a certain direction. 
She shifted her gaze a little and looked toward the direction they were walking to. 
The man who was walking toward them was Ji Jinchuan.
He was wearing white sportswear while carrying his golf club. There were two to three people following him. 
Shen Youran had seen one of them at the Old Master's birthday banquet before. He seemed to be the president of a company. 
As he hailed from the Mediterranean, he left a deep impression on her. 
Both of them greeted each other and Shen Yaoting waved his hand at her. She walked over and gave Ji Jinchuan a faint smile. "President Ji."
Ji Jinchuan gave her a faint glare before slightly nodding. Compared to his attitude during Old Master Shen's birthday banquet, he seemed colder and more distant. 
Usually, when he was wearing his Western business attire, he would look very stern and domineering. However, now that he was wearing his casual attire, he looked fresher and more gentlemanly than usual. It was as if he was a different person from the usual him. 
Deputy President Zeng caressed his neat hair out of habit. "Since President Ji is also here to play golf, how about we play together?"
Shen Yaoting also agreed, "If President Ji doesn't mind, we can golf together. Besides, it will be more lively."
Ji Jinchuan was here to sign the contract with another party and they had already discussed all the terms just now. However, upon hearing Shen Yaoting and Deputy President Zeng's words, it would not be nice of him to reject them. Hence, he nodded his head and agreed. 
"Youran's golfing skills are so-so. Hence, if President Ji doesn't mind, could you teach her a thing or two?"
Although Shen Yaoting was very tactful with his words, everyone could understand his intention. He was taking this chance to let his daughter get closer to Ji Jinchuan. 
Shen Youran's facial expression slightly changed. No wonder Shen Yaoting personally asked her to play golf! This was his intention. 
They knew that Ji Jinchuan would come here from the start, so they were waiting for him. 
Ji Jinchuan wore an indifferent expression and said, "The Ji family isn't so poor that I have to become a coach." 
Shen Yaoting felt a little embarrassed. "No, you have misunderstood. I was just afraid that Youran will feel bored alone."
"Feel bored?" Ji Jinchuan passed his golf club from one hand to another and thought for a while. He raised his eyebrows and said, "She can pick the balls up for me."
In contrast to the happy look on Shen Yaoting's face, which he tried very hard to hide, Shen Youran's facial expression turned very sour.

Moreover, she was very sure that he was teasing her as he golfed. 
There were nine balls out of ten that flew out of the targeted course and even rolled very far. Her legs were almost going to break from all that running. 



He agreed that we would go our separate ways after three months, so why is he still pestering me now?
"President Ji, it's over between the two of us. What exactly are you trying to do now?" 
Ji Jinchuan nonchalantly replies, "Because we the number of times we've slept together isn't enough." 
"So? Are you planning to pester me forever?"

Then Mr Gloybraitg following VananaVan oh no how dare you so they ascending ascended descended accelerated and decelerated for 10 light years and then ascended descended accelerated and decelerated, How has your day been so far? BananaMan thought very good and turns into a crossant Mr Gloybraith like where did he go but finds NanananaNan he say 'take of your cloths' Oh No! bananaman he does it to em Mr Gloybraith T-Poses right back at ya buckeroo.
But BananaMan is Weak not strong enough he can feel himself become an chocolate chip bread become Scottish water.

This gave Mr Gloybraith flashbacks nostalgia to when the vikings invade Scotland and those were good times.  
Then there was a noise coming closer. Mr Gloybraith turned around pee with compound interest.

The Su women sat at a rectangular table. Including Angela, there were eight of them on the, and she sat at the far end, away from the other's scrutiny. Thankful that Lyra stopped talking to her, she minded her own business and ate in peace while writing in her small notebook. Several ideas and new plots came to mind, and she had to write them all down or she'd forget everything.
Scanning the pages of her notebook, she was excited to start writing them. But of course, the planning would take time, and she didn't want to rush it. Furthermore, she had to do a lot of research and visit some places to gain first-hand experiences.
Angela subconsciously bit her lip as she began planning how next year would look like. January was her birth month, and she'd meant to travel on her birthday for a change. She hadn't really decided where to go yet, but she had a few places in mind.
At first, she thought about Europe. But she'd been there several times already, so she wanted a different scenery. A friend from Kenya came to mind, and she remembered that her friend told her they should go to Seychelles if she ever decided to visit. A smile ghosted her face as she wrote that in her notebook.  
Angela also wanted to travel to Asia. She'd only been to Hongkong, and her desire to visit Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines suddenly woke the fire in her heart. Or maybe she could see one of her college professors—Mrs. Kaur—who went back home to India. There were so many places to visit. It made her suddenly excited.
With a smile on her face, she put her pen down and lifted her chin, noticing that her cousin, Lyra, was reading something. Her brows knitted upon laying her eyes on the familiar book cover in the other's hands. It had a woman wearing a yellow dress facing the beach.
How could Angela not recognize her book? Just one glance at it, and she'd recognize it anywhere. It had her pen name written in bold too. She initially broadened her smile but then realized who was next to her. Her face relaxed, and she kept a neutral expression.  
"Chasing Summer… What's that book about?" she casually asked.
Lyra lowered the book, revealing misty eyes that looked too pitiful. Angela happened to glance at a paragraph of the opened page, and she knew exactly what she was teary-eyed about. The grin on Angela's face threatened to show, but she held it in so hard. She didn't know Lyra liked reading books—much less her book. Boy, if she's already teary-eyed now… Wait 'til she reaches the climax. Angela would love to see her bawl her eyes out. She cleared her throat to mask her smile.
As if remembering she didn't like Angela so much, Lyra composed herself and shifted in her seat. "It's a brilliant story, which you'd know nothing about, of course."
Angela pursed her lips into a thin line. "Mm. I haven't read that. Not sure I've heard of the author. She must be new." At least, the last part was true. She still had a lot to learn.
Lyra's brows knitted together, looking almost as if she was offended by her answer. "That's because you always hide in your cavern. She's everywhere. You'd actually notice if you go to a bookstore even once in your life."
Though that sounded offensive, Angela was dying of laughter inside. 'I obviously have to hide in my "cavern" to write my books, so you have something to read,' she thought.
"I should. She must be good then. You're a fan?" she probed.
Lyra's expression softened as though she was ready to gush. Then she turned her back, indicating she wanted to finish the conversation. "So-so."
Way to downplay it. Angela didn't believe that. Her book's first release was only limited as the timeframe they had for printing it was short. So for Lyra to already have it, she must have pre-ordered the book.
Who would have thought that the person she always had a rough relationship with reads her book? Despite their differences, Angela genuinely hoped her cousin would like it.
She whipped out her phone and skimmed some of the reviews. So far, it was mostly positive feedback. There were a few not-so-nice comments, but she didn't take it to heart. After all, everyone had different tastes.
"Let's go, girls. It's time to support our men out in the field," Aunt Linda announced at the table as she smoothed out her outfit and got up from her seat. The rest followed.
Before leaving the clubhouse, they dropped by the restroom first. It had been nearly two hours since the men left to play golf. There should be about an hour and a half left until they finish the course.

Angela and Lyra shared a golf cart as the other older women took two. They didn't really have anything to talk about, and she certainly didn't mind not talking to Lyra, so she quietly enjoyed the ride, watching the greenery around them.
She then rummaged through her bag, searching for her sunscreen as it was time to reapply. As she spread the cream on her face, she thought about Gael. One should still be wearing some sun protection even during winter. Angela wondered if he had at least put on SPF on his skin. She didn't want him to burn.
Tossing the sunscreen bottle back in her bag, she held the black jacket that he gave her earlier. The two-inch blot of stain on her sweater caught her eye, and it made her frown. She tried removing it in the restroom, but she only managed to lighten it. Gael's jacket was oversized for her, and if she'd changed, then she would only have her bra under it. That would be breezy with the wind going through the bottom hem, so she decided not to. Good thing it was a softshell jacket. Angela tied the sleeves around her neck and shoulders and let the rest of the jacket drape over her back, ensuring that the knot covered the stain.
Not long after, they caught up with the men who were just about to head over to their 12th hole in their golf carts. Her eyes immediately searched for the one person she wanted to see. Just as she saw him, her male cousin sitting next to Gael called her, "Hey, Angie! Your boyfriend's a scratch golfer!"
'He is?' She didn't know what to do except look at Gael, who just shook his head in resignation, a small smile hinting on his lips. Being called that was a huge compliment. Was she supposed to say, 'Of course' or 'really?'?
Gael met her gaze, and when he smiled at her, she smiled back. Because of her cousin's comment regarding Gael, her father, Uncle Wilfred, and the others also said compliments about him. It looked like he won over that side of the family. They were pretty much shouting and laughing from their golf carts.
"Then it's settled!" Aunt Collete sang from the other cart. "After Lyra's wedding, we can start planning for Angie's!"
Angela swallowed, unsure of how to respond to that one. The others seemed to be excited about the idea, but her stomach was twisting into knots. 'Can we stop talking about weddings and marriages, please?' She sighed, briefly glancing at Gael, whose gaze turned intense that she had to look away.
Beside her, Lyra snorted, rolling her eyes as she bit out under gritted teeth, "They only like him because he has money." She nonchalantly checked her pretty nails.
Seriously. This cousin of hers was the bane of her existence. Angela wanted to talk back, but she reminded herself that it wasn't worth it.
As they reached their destination, Gael got off the cart and walked towards her. Lyra left as soon as he arrived.  
"Hey," he greeted. He's wearing a grey cap that she hadn't seen before.
Not wanting to show her sullen mood, she pulled the corners of her lips into a smile. "They seem to like you."
"What's not to like?" he responded confidently with a smirk.
Angela's shoulders shook as she laughed, scratching her forehead and shaking her head. She leaned against the armrest, her arm grazing his, causing goosebumps to pepper on her skin. But she didn't move away. "I forgot. You're Mr. Perfect who is good at everything. What can't you do?"
His lips parted, but no words came out. And then one of her uncles called him over. He nodded to them and turned to her again. "Let's talk later."
"Oh… You should put this on your face." She gave him the sunscreen.
"Thanks."
"Good luck."
"Now that you're here, I won't need it." Gael's lips quirked into a grin as he walked backwards. "All my swings are for you, Angel."
Angela started to believe that Gael probably memorized all the lines there were in his playboy's playbook. Heck—he probably invented it, seeing how smooth of a talker he was.
"Hot damn, Angie." Aunt Colette joined her in the cart. "No wonder you are so in love with that hottie. He has a mouth that could melt anyone's panties."
Hearing the other's comments, Angela could only cover her face and wish the ground would swallow her. She couldn't even argue with her aunt's statement.
However, Gael being a good talker also meant he's a good liar. Doesn't it?

He found the book worthy of his mockery. It was absolutely ludicrous! He must find whoever wrote this absolute nonsense about him so he could show that person what he does to people who were deserving of his wrath.

But what would he do when he finds out that the author of the book wants to keep her identity a secret?

Or will he use the secret to his advantage?

"She likes writing romance novels so much?" he scoffed. "Then I'll give her the best damn story she would ever want to write."

With Yang Shue gone, Ying Yue finally pulled up her sunglasses and attached her earpiece. "Yiling."
 
The tech genius checked on the surveillance cameras outside his office before replying. "I'm all ears, shadow fox." Big Boss would probably kill him if he found out that he was helping her endanger herself at this critical time of her life. 
 
"I've attached the bug to the assistant. Tell me if you find out anything. Also," she walked inside the nearest comfort room to change her clothes. "I found out that Su Jianjun is playing golf. Could you check which golf course he's at?"
 
An amused smirk played across Mo Yiling's face. Less than half an hour into the mission and she had already figured out where the target was. He should've expected no less from the top agent at Juyan. "You owe me taro cake for this," he muttered. His hands immediately went to work, surveying the possible placeswhere he could be, all the while setting up the speakers to the bug on Yang Shue's suit. 
 
"Remind me. I'll drop off a big one for you soon." There was a cheeky grin on her face as Ying Yue started rummaging through her bag for versatile clothing that was more appropriate for golf. After a while, she was able to fish out a white button-down shirt and a short gym skirt. That would certainly do. 
 
"It seems he's at the golf course East of the city." Mo Yiling punched a few keys to maximize the image of Su Jianjun, caught on one of the surveillance videos there. "He just arrived. I'll hack into the system there and book you a slot."
 
"Please." She wiped off the bold red lipstick on her lips and replaced it with some lip balm. She needed to look like she was just going out on her own to play golf, not-so-accidentally bumping into Su Jianjun, of course.

Fei Huangjin had just finished furnishing a call to Juyan to investigate the matter regarding Changsu, and he rubbed his chin as he stared out the window of his study. After pondering over it, he decided to call Zhang Zihan. He was the most notorious playboy in S city, after all. He was bound to have given out a couple of flowers, right? 
 
"Huangjin?"
 
"You idiot. You got me drunk last night."
 
Light laughter filtered through the phone. "Hey, I did you a favor. Yifeng said you ended up at Secretary Ying's place. Did you get laid?" The silence on the other end made Zhang Zihan widen his eyes. If he accused Fei Huangjin of something, the man would usually be defensive. But this time, he was silent. "Don't tell me you didn't?" He broke into another peal of laughter. 
 
Fei Huangjin's lips thinned into displeasure. Not because he found Zhang Zihan's words rude, but because what he said had accurately hit the mark. Indeed, nothing happened between them in Ying Yue's apartment, but that was because he respected her. He would settle with just sleeping beside her rather than make her think he didn't take her seriously. 
 
When he woke up in the middle of the night to find her having fallen asleep on the bed beside him… Her angelic look when she was asleep was already alluring enough, more so when her smell drifted into his senses. It was all too tempting, and the hard-on he tried to suppress was still fresh on his mind. 
 
 And then he had a fight with her in the morning. His jaw clenched.  "Shut up and help me out or I'll pull out the funding for your latest project."
 
Zhang Zihan choked on his laughter and cleared his throat. "Okay, okay." Fei Huangjin really had a way with words. "Well, what can I do for you, oh great master?" 
 
"What flowers do you give when you're apologizing to a woman?" He sat down and tapped a finger on the table impatiently. 
 
The man on the other end of the line had another urge to laugh, but he made the effort to reign it in, putting a fist against his mouth and breathing in and out as calmly as he could. "Well, generally, the safest option is to pick roses -- for romance." 
 
"Really?" Surprised, Fei Huangjin sat back.  He didn't know any of this. But roses… weren't they a bit too overrated? 
 
Zhang Zihan said proudly, "I've never gotten wrong with giving a girl roses. Usually I pick the orange ones as an apology for breaking up with them."

"You f*cking idiot! I'm not breaking up with her!"
 

Six years after her brother was killed, Ying Yue finally became the top spy agent at Juyan Intelligence Agency. She leads a double life: a secretary by day, and a spy at night. 
However, after accidentally protecting her CEO boss on a shoot out, he suddenly has his eyes set on taking her as his wife!

It was Ying Yue who broke the tension with a light laugh. "I'm sorry Mr. Fei, I know I might sound absurd, but it sounded like you wanted to actually, really, be in a relationship with me."

"It is not absurd." He cocked his head to one side. "I find you smart and attractive, and trust me, I do not remember being attracted to anyone else."

Ying Yue's calm façade broke. She frowned, unable to understand what was going inside the brain of the great Fei Huangjin. She used to admire the man, but now she couldn't help wondering if the incident last night made him crazy. "Mr. Fei, I implore you not to make fun of me like this."
 
"I'm not joking."
 
"Yes, you are." She insisted.

"Go on a date with me."

"No."

"And call me Huangjin."

"I will not, Mr. Fei!" Her voice had already inched a notch higher. 

"Why not?"

Lahar stretches her arms above her head as she lets out a loud yawn. She leans back in her chair and relaxes after spending the past few hours listening to Arena's lectures about various topics.
She's at the dining table with stacks of books towering over her. There are books from every corner of the globe, each varying in style and age. Scattered around are various knickknacks, from regular, everyday items to more exotic items: gloves, statues, mirrors, lanterns…it reminds her of a garage sale.
"That should be enough of a history lesson for the day," Arena says, closing a book.
"Hurray," Lahar says sarcastically.
"Basic history is essential to magic. You have to know what the building blocks are made of before you can use them," Arena says with passion. "Still, we should move on from that." Arena leaves the table.
"Thanks for the clothes again," Lahar says as he makes his way to a bookshelf in the living room.
His finger runs down the spines of the books as his eyes scan the shelf. "It's no problem; I have too many clothes anyway. You sure they fit well? I just recently learned that spell, so they might not be perfect," he says.
Lahar pulls on a red T-shirt with a cartoon hero on it and gray joggers that fit comfortably. "No, they're perfect. Trust me," she says gratefully.
Arena himself is wearing yellow basketball shorts and a plain gray T-shirt. "If you say so," he says. "I think that's enough lecturing for the day. I think we should start the practical portion of the day."
"Finally!" Lahar exclaims.
"Don't act too excited. Like I said before, it's half learning and half experiencing. You have to learn the mechanics of this before putting it into practice."
She stands on her tiptoes to place a book on the top of the nearest tower. She then picks up an old faded blue leather-bound book, the pages crackling as she turns them. "Which spell will I learn today?" she asks.
"The same one as the day before and the day before that," he says sternly.
"Maybe we should move on from that one. Let's try something with a little more spice," she says.
"Not happening. We won't move on until you get it down." He puts on his sneakers and grabs a book with one hand and a folded beach chair leaning against the wall by the door with his other hand. "Let's head outside and get started," he says.
Lahar ties her sneaker laces and heads outside with him. They walk past the porch and the small patch of vibrant green grass leading to the golden beach. Arena unfolds the chair on the sand and sits down. He opens the book and begins to read. Lahar sits down, crossing her legs. Arena reaches into his pocket and, without looking away from the book, tosses a small object to Lahar.
She catches it with both hands. She opens them up to see a white golf ball and sighs disappointedly. Lahar grips the ball between her left index finger and thumb. She then closes her eyes as Arena says, "Remember, I want that ball blue."
She says the spell verbatim and then opens her eyes. The golf ball is the same.
Lahar isn't deterred. She continues this for half an hour. Sweat falls from her forehead. She grabs the hair on the top of her head as she stares intensely at the ball. "One more time. This will be the one." She squeezes the ball tightly between her fingers. She chants the words once more. The ball stays the same.
"Damn," she whispers.
Arena looks over at her and then back at his book. "We've been doing this for a while now," he says. "Close your eyes, and listen to me. Maybe if I refresh your mind on what we've covered, you'll get it down."
Lahar closes her eyes as he continues to speak. "Surrounding us all is an energy known as the Source. This fuels our magic and has been with us since this universe was born. From the grains of sand below you to the algae in the ocean. Living or not, a variation of the Source is in it."
As he speaks, Lahar feels a soft breeze hit her skin. "Magic is the harmony of the mind, soul, and body. A mixture of the tangible and intangible. Now, like all energies, we need a conductor for it."
Lahar feels a weight on her wrist. She has something on it now. She opens her eyes to see a gold bangle, with symbols and a language she can't recognize engraved all over it. She notices the beautiful craftsmanship as she starts to examine it.
"What's this?"
"That right there is your conductor. Think of it as your wand. I was hoping you would be able to use your body as a conductor, but that is extremely rare," he says.
"Was that a self-brag?" she says, staring at him.
He looks away from his book and at her. "Unfortunately, I am not that lucky. You see, a conductor can be anything someone has engraved his or her magic to. It can be jewelry, clothing—anything, really. Normally the older, closer to nature, or more personal the item is, the better a conductor it is."
Gold liquid flows out of Arena's arm like silk threads. "I went for the more personal route. This liquid is an alloy I made that runs through my body like blood through my veins. It is a mixture of a bunch of alloys. It is strong like diamond, pretty as gold, and one hell of a superconductor. I won't recommend this way, though, because if you're new to this, it can seriously damage your body."
"Then it is safe to say this bangle falls into the magical category," Lahar says while flicking it. "You make this yourself?"
"No, I actually found it. I have absolutely no idea what it does. So, I'm giving it to you so that you can use it as your own wand and in hopes you will figure out what it does."

As an average college student, Lahar's life is gone when she is transported to a mystical land by the sea. Now she will learn magic from the beach bum wizard,Arena, to fight the dark sorcerer below the beach and find a way home. Though, the fight may cost Lahar her life.

Li Zhiyuan was speechless. 
He was furious, and his face was turning dark. He tried to control his anger but could not contain it further and shouted. "Shallow!"
"Yes!" Shen Qianshu smiled brightly at him, and her eyes were twinkling. "Little CEO Li, isn't your love at first sight for me shallow too?"
Her words completely shut him up, causing him to almost forget breathing. He was really mad.
This heartless woman.
"Baby Shushu, how can you hurt me like that? I am pursuing you!"
"You can forget about it." Shen Qianshu waved her hand dismissively.
She placed her hand on her heart, smiled softly, and said, "Although I'm really scared of him, I always can't help it but get closer to him. I guess… this is love!"
"Shushu, Ye Ling… is really not a good partner for you. His world is too complicated. You don't understand. You will get hurt."
"What about you?" Shen Qianshu propped her chin and smiled at him. The pair of beautiful eyes were full of life and looked like they could tell stories, causing Li Zhiyuan's heart to beat nervously. Little CEO Li was also an interesting person.
"My world only contains you. It's simple."
Shen Qianshu smiled and said, "A man's sweet words cannot be taken seriously."
"How about Ye Ling? His sweet words, you don't take them seriously too?"
Shen Qianshu burst out laughing. "If he knew how to whisper sweet nothings, then he would not be Ye Ling. Little CEO Li, from the rumors I heard, you and Lu Mengxi were childhood friends. Why are you so guarded against her?"
"Rumors are only rumors. Your rumor with Ye Yifan was also discussed animatedly. Is it real?"
"I thought that you guys are quite close."
"We are no longer like how we were during our childhood," Li Zhiyuan said meaningfully. "When a person grows up, the things they pursue are already different."
They thoroughly enjoyed the meal. She initially thought that Li Zhiyuan would mention Lu Mengyun's matters, but to her surprise, he did not and only simply came to have a meal with her. Shen Qianshu did not have that many friends of the opposite sex, so it was rare that she had someone she could talk to easily. She felt that little CEO Li was also not deeply in love with her. Thus, she chose to not to comment any further.
When Shen Qianshu reached home, Ye Ling was not back yet. Little Tong Hua was already at home, and third master Ye was also at her house, teaching Tong Hua how to play golf at the golf course behind the house. The golf course was private property, and little Tong Hua had nothing to do in the afternoon. Coincidentally, Ye Yifan came to visit, and they then decided to play golf. Of course, Little Tong Hua picked up the skills easily.
Shen Qianshu changed into her home clothes. The chef had already started preparing dinner, and there was nothing much she could help with. She thus decided to go to the gym and started punching the sandbag. Lu Family was coming at her with ill intentions, and she needed to become stronger.
Everybody crowded together only after Ye Ling had come home from work. Ye Yifan held onto Ye Ling and started weeping. "Brother, have some pity on me! I was reprimanded by Grandma for two hours."
Ye Ling slapped his hand away. His gaze was cold and dark, showing no sympathy for him at all. Ye Yifan held onto little Tong Hua pitifully and complained. "My brother is so heartless."
"…"
Rose Castle was bustling with noise with Ye Yifan, little Tong Hua, and Zhong Ran, these three talkative people. Even before starting dinner, the three of them pulled Shen Qianshu along to game with them. They still needed one more person to have a full team, and everybody's gazes turned towards Ye Ling.
"Little sister-in-law…" Ye Yifan started.
Shen Qianshu looked at Ye Ling. He was reading his book at a corner and had an expression of 'I am unwilling to associate myself with you guys.' She still attempted to ask him. "Master, we are short of one person. Do you want to bring me to the king position? I still have to win three rounds…"
Her voice was soft and gentle. She was really skilled in sucking up to him and praising him to the skies.
Little Tong Hua was speechless.


Seven years ago, Shen Qianshu is impregnated with Ye Ling's child in an accident.

    "Happy birthday, hija!" Exclaimed Mrs. Elizabeth Jones as she approached her. Though she married one of the richest men in New York, she is still very simple. She wore a bright blue blouse, white cardigan and black pants. She has fair complexion too, long black wavy hair, which she probably curled with the curling iron and beautiful brown eyes under those eyeglasses. Her smile was so radiant that anyone would love to be around her. 

    She walked towards Nikka, capturing her into a warm embrace. Nikka never felt uneasy around her even the first time she met her. Her down-to-earth attitude would make even the poorest of the poor be so comfortable to approach her. Her warmth is what made people loved her and would often talked about. She was also featured as the woman of the year in the last year's Women 's magazine issue,  as she generously helped different institutions and sponsor a children's foundation. She truly has a heart of gold and she is loved by people. 

   "Come here, deary! My favorite girl! Oh wait! You're a woman now,"  said Mr. Alfred Jones. He was standing beside his wife and he grabbed her like she was nothing. She looked particularly small in his six foot feature and fit body.  The man is in his fifties and dressed in a simple pair of white shirt and khaki pants, yet he looked five years younger. His deep blue eyes and blonde curly hair still made some women swoon over him.  But his eyes were set only to his beloved Beth. 

   "I wish I have a daughter like you. What do you think, Marcus?" he said winking and smiling meaningfully, as he let her go. 

   "Dad, please," a barritone voice said.

   She turned at the direction of the voice and  faced Marcus. He was wearing a plain deep blue long sleeved shirt that was causally folded up to his elbows, and jeans. His muscles looked like it was about to pop out and she stopped herself from squeezing them right at that moment. She took a deep breath, as she saw him sweeping her whole feature. 

     He was a foot apart from her but she could feel every bit of her body shake as his eyes swept over her, starting from her slender legs, to her small waist and lingered a bit on her breasts. She saw him swallowed hard and she smiled. Then his eyes moved to her neck and to her red lips. He bit his lip, and swallowed again. 

    As she tried to look in his eyes, he looked away, leaving her confused on what she saw. She thought for a moment there was desire in his eyes but before she could make sense of it, he closed the gap between them, planting a gentle kiss on her cheek. 

   She blushed as he softly whispered, "You're so beautiful today, Lil Sis."

      Little sister, she thought and at that moment the excitement in her heart fainted. She heard it many times from him too but this time, it is different. She felt like something stabbed her heart. 

     She secretly admired him the moment they first met. For her, she felt like she found her Prince Charming. His handsome face and mysterious look made him more appealling than any guy she met.

     He doesn't smile a lot and looked kind of cold and arrogant sometimes. But when he is around his family and everyone he knew, he smiles and even laughs. His smile could melt her heart in a minute. 

  "Happy birthday, Sweetie!" he said and took a small box out of his pocket. 

   "What is this?" She asked excitedly. 

   "Just something for your birthday. Open it."

    She opened the small red box and saw a small heart shaped necklace. She took it out, letting it dangle from her hand. 

     "Thank you," she said. "Can you put it on me?"

      "Sure," he replied as she turned her back on him. 

     He placed it around her neck, closing the clasps. His hand touched her neck sending shivers down her spine. He let his hand dropped slowly down her shoulders, and turn her around to face him. 

     She held the necklace in her hand playfully and admired it for a moment. Then she looked up at him and said, "It's beautiful."

   "Of course," he replied. "Anything for my beautiful girl."

    She blushed, her heart tugged on that last word.  He called her beautiful two times today. 

    He finally noticed, she thought, smiling as her heart skipped a  beat. 

    Marcus has always been so sweet and thoughtful to her. But he was far from being nice the first time they met. She had always thought of him as very attractive but just a little aloof. Their families would often go out in picnics in the park and sometimes play golf. 

      She does not like golf and often she will just sit in one of the benches in the golf course. She finds the sport very boring but her dad and Mr. Jones loved to play. Her mom and Mrs. Jones would chat while their husbands play, and Daniel usually doesn't come with them, which she could totally understand. So often, she is left alone waiting for them. Marcus does not usually come, as he is very busy finishing some of his projects and stay home. But one day, he did and he stayed with her. 

    At first, they did not say anything to each other. She usually brings a book with her so she won't get bored. While she is reading the first chapter of her book, he spoke up.

   "I'm bored. Do you want to leave?" he asked casually like they have been friends forever.

   She looked up from her book and smiled. It was the first time he ever spoke to her and she was so excited that her words jumbled in her mouth.

   "W-what? Leave. Sure," she answered.

   "Okay, let's go," and he just took her hand. She didn't protest and got up from the bench. She didn't even know where to go but she trusted him. All she ever think about is she could finally spend time with him for the first time... alone. And that was the beginning of their friendship.

    Ever since then, they were inseparable except if he goes to work and she went to school. He would sometimes pick her up from school, without anyone knowing it was him. He is very good at hiding. He would take her to places in the city, from uptown to downtown or to other boroughs. Sometimes they went to City Island in Long Island and ate some delicious and fresh lobsters overlooking the sea.

      Both families wanted them to be together as a couple, and tease them a lot, playing matchmakers. But Marcus would just smile and often say she is his little sister. 

     At first, she was okay with it. Her friendship with him is more important and admiring him is enough as long as he has his attention. She knew almost everything about him even his "adventures" with women. He is not a playboy but definitely a ladies man somehow. But with her, he is always very respectful and caring. And as months passed by, that simple admiration grew to love...
