I noticed that WebNovel (web) zooms-in the cover of stories you hover over in your library. This can have the somewhat annoying side-effect of cutting off some of the text that might be on the cover. The stories profile page also adds a blue tag button which can also cover up some of the cover. (Click Read More for links) 

So this guideline was designed to work around this so you can tell beforehand if what you're making will be obscured in anyway.

Rules:
Red = This section will be completely hidden by the zoom-in effect if the cover is hovered over by a mouse while in your Library.

Green = This is the border of what all will be visible during zoom-in. Everything from the green-line and above will be present (including the green).

Yellow = This will be obscured by the novel tag when viewed from the web browser on the stories profile page. For example if you're viewing this page on the web you likely can't see yellow box as its hidden by the blue "Original" tag WebNovel adds.

Grey = Everything here will be present in zoom-in and the most visible.

As a sidenote I've found that text can become unreadable in the library if the font is lesser than Uppercase Arial x35. This may differ depending on what font you use or even perhaps monitor setup or your own eyesight.

I Let Out A Tired Sigh. I quickly remove all of my clothes, down the remaining coffee in the mug and jump into the shower. I wash the frustration out of my hair and calm my body for a while. Once I'm sure all the warm water is done for, I dry myself and put on some fresh and crispy pair of pyjamas and comfortable baggy t-shirt and jump onto the couch. I open my silver laptop and as if all the weight is back again.

I've been trying to prepare the cover for my new chapbook, "Sea Full Of Stars" for the past three days now. I'm not a visual artist and hiring one costs too much and I'm too broke to spend bills on softwares. It's never easy being a writer. Writing itself can be such a lonely process, although it is my first home. But then I have to design a cover that is not only catchy, mysterious and unique but also conversely uninhibited. Great. I spend hours trying to find the right website that'll let me make one for free.

For a minute there, I sit back tired and almost defeated. What if books didn't have covers, I think to myself. I could've saved all this hassle and been sleeping on my lonely bed in peace. I'd be "Netflix and Chilling" on my phone. I'd probably have been writing something new.

But what about all the books I've read? I confess that I've also once trusted the image more than the not-so-convincing texts. The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald with it's original art work is a stunning masterpiece. The eyes, the blue and the glam packed in it's dressing is an unbelievable turn on for any reader. But then again it wasn't designed by Fitzgerald himself. It was illustrated by Francis Cugat, a little known artist back then. It was the Gatsby that made me realise that it is an art to cover the book with a cape.

The same cannot be said for all the other books in my collection. Interpreter Of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri or Pablo Neruda's Love don't have the most convincing covers. I bought those books for the rave reviews I'd heard of them.

I do know that Rupi Kaur illustrated her own books. I get up and bring out all the poetry books that I own and try to fathom the making of their book art. The simplicity in Rupi's artwork is really appealing, but on the other hand Atticus's books look way too fancy. But the one thing they had in common is that their book covers were exactly what their book title said.

I too want my cover to reflect the idea and spirit of my book. But I don't know anyone who can design a book cover. Or who understands or reads my book or my art. I don't have my Francis Cugat.

I turn back to my computer, reducing it's brightness first because outside it's turning dark and I don't want to turn the light on just yet. I make a mental conversation with myself that if it doesn't work this time, I'll just use a template by Kindle Direct Publishing.

This time I go to YouTube and type 'how to make a paperback book cover for free' and hit Enter. The first video is of a middle-aged white man on the thumbnail, his hair slightly brown and a straight face. I click on it. The video starts demonstrating the process of making an easy to go book cover on this website called Canva.

I've used this app on my phone before but I never knew it could be used for making a paperback dress. I go to the site and follow all the instructions. I choose the image very mindfully, edit it, use the right fonts and change the colors. I do the same with the back cover and add a piece of poetry there. Then I keep following the instructions and after failing countless times, I make the perfect book cover for my latest collection.

I wipe the tears of joy slipping down my cheeks. I know I haven't made the best or make-you-pick-the-book-up kind of cover, but I'm happy.

I realise that I'm more happy because I could finally do something that fits the rules of the modern mass publishing world. I did something that will make people want to give me a look.

If it was upto me, I'd have the cover completely black or yellow and only bare my name and the name of the book. But that's not the case. I just smile with the fact that I made something that reflects the imagery or mood of my book. And I know that even with the exhausting role my cover will play, it won't ever gain the respect it deserves.

I go to bed hungry and drift off.

In these short stories, through personal episodes, the author talks about the complex idea of book covers being more commercial rather than artistic in the perspective of a reader as well as a writer.

In the control room, Lu Zhiyu was standing next an optical projection, the sub-brain David. Standing behind Lu Zhiyu were the lead of the starship program, Gu Chaoran, Fabio Rossi from the Robot Manufacturing Research Laboratory, the original starship designer Molly, and some experts in engineering, computer technology, dynamics and materials science.
These eight people were responsible for the design and construction of the starship Truth. They were members of its management committee. Lu Zhiyu came up with the starship's name, which was also the name of a spacecraft in a movie that Lu Zhiyu had watched a very long time ago and liked very much.
The construction had finally been completed. Truth could accommodate up to 100,000 people. It also was able to store a vast amount of materials and energy reserves. At present, there were only 2,362 people onboard, most of whom were foreign employees.
"Boss, you said that the gravity field device and some transformation devices were still not in place. As such, the current starship cannot enter space," Gu Chaoran said.
Lu Zhiyu nodded, but did not comment further on the doubts that had just been raised by Gu Chaoran. "You have a week to prepare. Everyone can leave Truth with your family. Then, after one week, those who stay will enter the space."
Gu Chaoran then said to Lu Zhiyu, "Mr. Nicholas Debye of the Vatican Clan has made an appointment to see you tomorrow. He will be accompanied by two important people."
Lu Zhiyu glanced at Gu Chaoran, who lowered his head and dared not speak any further. He had heard about Nicholas from the images about the Antarctic event that had been circulated on the Internet.
Although those images had since been deleted, there were still a number of members of the Antarctic base station that had posted images online, which was causing a tremendous sensation.
After seeing them, Gu Chaoran was convinced that his boss was probably from a powerful alien civilization beyond all humans' imaginations. As such, his power was most likely no different than the gods' in the eyes of humans.
At the end of the meeting, all of the people present seemed worried as they all left. After everyone had left the control room, Lu Zhiyu asked David, "Are you ready?"
"Yes, Truth's conversion has been completed," David replied.
Lu Zhiyu, like the sun, emitted lights and floated in the hall. Wherever he went, it became shiny. The starship was affected the most by his presence.
The starship itself was a huge alchemy lifeform. The main structure of its body was metal cells, but these were not mythical metal cells. At this moment, Truth was made up of regular metal cells.
"Divine life form template generated! Template inserted!" David emitted a mechanical sound and inserted the pre-designed starship divine life form template into the metal cells.
Lu Zhiyu integrated the curvature engine, gravity field device, and the protective cover that he had removed from the previous Atlantis Hope into Truth. These three devices then activated the super power of the divine life form template in Truth, which could be freely controlled at will and could even evolve with the other changes in Truth.
Truth now had a mythical alchemy lifeform. So, when it was hit hard, it could self-heal.
In this transformation, the curvature engine allowed Truth to achieve interstellar travel, even without the need for a large number of antimatter fuels, which provided energy for the curvature engine to generate a force field. This became a natural ability for Truth.
With the curvature engine, Truth was able to enter the space, instead of using the magnetic plasma propeller that used lithium hydroxide as a fuel. This was a great achievement, as otherwise, it would take a hundred years for Truth to leave the solar system.
Conventionally, if the speed reached the speed of light, the quality of matter must be infinite. But, with the curvature engine, the combination of negative energy and positive energy could generate the energy field that let the space in front of the field be compressed. In this way, a new space would be created behind the field, pushing the starship forward and allowing it to reach the speed of light.
Also, the gravity field device generated gravity inside the starship. So, all those people inside the starship were living just like they would on earth. As long-term weightlessness would kill red blood cells, destroy muscles, and hearts, only with gravity could people live in the starship for any length of time.
Also, the gravity field could avoid the situation that people inside couldn't withstand the tremendous pressure that was caused by the starship's acceleration. This was because the protective cover was equipped with plasma emitters in the front and at the rear, which emitted the plasma shield to cover the entire starship. At the same time, the high temperature generated by the protective cover could also be managed by the plasma.
These three technologies were all born in Hope, which had completely surpassed the earth's civilization. These new technologies were what reassured Lu Zhiyu of the hopeful future of space journeys.
"What's that? Where is the light coming from?" Lu Zhiyu wondered aloud.
The light shimmered throughout Truth. Many staff members in the central residential area found that the sun overhead became glaring in an instant. 
The lights came from all directions. Meanwhile, Truth was undergoing tremendous changes...


By accident, Lu Zhiyu found the entrance to a low-dimensional world, and thus began a totally different journey!

Free to control everything in the low-dimensional game, Lu Zhiyu felt like a gamemaster, and even God.


"Ding! You have killed a goblin hunter. Obtained 30 experience points."
Bates smiled, as he once again hid and crawled towards the second goblin hunter.
Compared to the one-meter tall goblin, Bates, who was only 20cm long and less than 10cm tall, was extremely tiny.
However, his strong attributes and powerful passive skills made Bates an ultimate killer in the forest!
Regardless of whether it was a goblin woodworker, or a goblin hunter, as long as Bates got close to them, they would not be able to escape.
The dense forest and grass created the best cover for him to hide in.
"Ding! You have killed a goblin hunter. Obtained 30 experience points."
The second goblin hunter was killed. Bates increased his speed and crawled towards the third hunter.
Just as Bates jumped up at the last hunter, it turned its head and saw Bates leaping out!
"Demon! Six-legged demon!" the goblin cried out in its own language. It quickly retreated and drew its bow at the same time.
A sharp arrow shot out towards Bates.
As the hunter shouted, it caught the goblin thrower's attention, and it also threw a sharp spear towards Bates!
As Bates' eyes flickered with a fierce light, he thought, 'Since we've been exposed, let's just attack!' His speed suddenly increased as he pounced towards the last goblin hunter.
Green blood sprayed onto the ground, and the last hunter fell.
From the other direction, spears continued to sore through the air towards Bates, one after another!
Bates relied on his agility attribute, which far exceeded the goblin's, to rush towards the thrower at an incredible speed.
Twenty meters!
Fifteen meters!
Ten meters!
Just when Bates was only five meters away, the goblin thrower's strength suddenly increased, and the short spear in its hand started to glow a black color!
With all of the goblin's strength, it through the black spear, which now looked like it was made of metal, towards Bates, at a speed several times faster than before!
"Barbaric throwing!" it yelled in its own twisted language.
'I can't dodge them! It's too dangerous!' These thoughts flashed through Bates' mind. He quickly raised his hands, which had been strengthened by [ sickle ], to block the onslaught of arrows!
He had to withstand the goblin's full-powered attack!
The loud sound of metal colliding rang out!
The short, black spear blasted against the [ sickle ], leaving only a white scratch on Bates' hands, remembering he could cut through metal!
However, the huge impact sent Bates flying several meters back.
The full-powered attack of the goblin thrower was not to be laughed at! Yet, as soon as it released the attack, the goblin thrower instantly became exhausted.
Seeing this, Bates once again charged forward, and this time, he didn't face any resistance. The goblin didn't even have time to raise its hand before its neck was cut off. It collapsed to the ground, spraying foul-smelling green blood everywhere.
"Ding! You have killed a goblin thrower. Obtained 100 experience points and 1 Soul Point."
"You have killed a goblin thrower that is above your level. The goblin thrower has an advanced attribute template. You have obtained this attribute template."
"Would master like to replace it?"
Hearing the system's notification, Bates got extremely excited.
The reason why he risked his life to hunt these goblins was to obtain the advanced attribute template. Now, he had it!
Bates looked down at the goblin thrower he had just killed, and wasn't in the mood to eat it. Instead, he quickly opened his attribute panel.

It was a very powerful attribute template.
Before, Bates had owned a basic attribute template, which only increased his attributes by +1 for every level up. Now, with the goblins attribute template, for every level up, his strength would increase by 3, his agility by 0.5, and his energy by 2. It would also increase his health by 100 points.
More importantly, this attribute template also came with an active skill called [ brute throw ].
While looking through his new attribute template, Bates noticed a weakness. This template did not have any bonus for the spirit attribute. More still, it only had a 0.5 point bonus for agility, which would transform Bates into a meat shield or tank in the future, which was not what he had planned.
With his current overlord ant species form, this savage throw skill was not very practical, almost completely useless.
If the attribute template was replaced, it could not be changed back. Unless he was to obtain a higher-level attribute template, he was stuck with it. Even though Bates was confident in his abilities, he didn't think he could easily obtain an elite class attribute template in a short period of time.
Bates sighed, feeling a little regretful. He looked at his second choice.
"You can choose to use this attribute template as experience to add to your current attribute template, raising the level of your current attribute template."
He was more intrigued by this second option, and didn't hesitate to tell the game to use the advanced attribute template as experience to add to his current attribute template!
The advanced attribute template disappeared, while an additional experience bar appeared:

'I need to kill five more monsters with advanced attribute templates before I can upgrade my attribute template to an advanced attribute template.' thought Bates, then he closed his attribute panel.
Five more monsters, all with advanced attribute templates was not going to be easy.
However, goblins were the type of monsters who lived in groups. If he'd found this goblin camp, it meant there would be others not far from here.
As long as he killed five goblin camps, his attribute template could be upgraded smoothly.
The one thing he had to be careful of, was the levels. The goblin thrower was a level 5, and he needed to make sure his level did not surpass that. He needed to kill monsters that were a level 5 or above in order to obtain the correct advanced attribute template.
After that, it would be time to reap the rewards!


Once he awakened, Bates discovered that not only had he traveled to another world, he was part of a game that could affect his current reality. He had become the lowest level existence in the entire game world - an ant. Fortunately, he could still level up his soul and evolve by consuming other things. From there, Bates started evolving from the lowest level of the game world! He consumed insects, slimes, goblins, dual-headed chimeras, frost demon wolves, legendary dragons… 
Eventually, when the game opened and the players appeared, Bates had already become a super boss in the game. While the players started to grow, Bates had already consumed countless existences and become the Demon God of the Endless Abyss. 
When the game and reality were connected, Bates finally took his next step! Armageddon! The Abyss descended! Humanity wept and wailed in despair, unable to accept their own fates!


Putting the book on the table, Garen continued to flip through the pages. 
The yellow surface of the paper was slightly rough and crisp. The corner of the paper broke off after Garen lightly touched it. It was like an extremely thin template.
"Be careful, these books are very old, at least hundreds of years old," Felicity said quietly.
"Okay."
Garen softened his movements even more.
After flipping to the fifth page, it was still the table of contents. Garen ignored it and kept on flipping.
‘Hereby I thank my friend, Lady Liana. If it weren’t for her careful correction and sponsorship, this book might not have been published…’ After this, the words became blurry like they had been soaked in water.
Garen frowned and continued flipping. To his surprise, the actual content of the book was crooked black letters that looked like toads. Garen could recognize individual ones, but when jumbled together, they became garbled and meaningless.
"Could it be… are these special codes? I need to decode it to read the actual content?" Garen said with a frown. He flipped a couple more pages again, but they were are all the same.
"I think so. When writing down important information, a lot of people design their own codes." Felicity nodded and looked through the book alongside Garen.
"Then what do we do?" Garen stopped at a random page. From top to bottom, there was not a single paragraph he could understand. All he could try to comprehend were some drawn engineering designs.
"One of my friends’ grandpa used to use this one method of encryption. I still remember it, so let me try to decode it." Felicity excitedly grabbed the book, took out a pen and started to work her way through the book.
The girl pushed Garen away and even stole his seat.
Standing at the back, however, allowed Garen to see Felicity’s perky butt. One of her legs was sexily bent on top of the chair, lifting up her tight black skirt. If he crouched a bit more, he would be able to see what was underneath that skirt of hers.
"I am relaxed and happy," Garen softly whispered to himself. With a grin on his face, he walked back a few more steps and enjoyed Felicity’s beautiful pose.
After about ten minutes.
"Garen, come here, I know what this book is about now!" the girl suddenly shouted.
Garen walked over in a hurry and sniffed her refreshing natural scent. He subconsciously inhaled deeply. However, seeing Felicity’s serious face, he organized his thoughts and looked at the table.
On top of the desk was a piece of paper. It contained a small paragraph decoded from the book.
"I have a general idea of what this book is about," Felicity said with a bit of excitement.
She flipped to the table of contents and pointed at the page.
"There are three parts in the book: nightmare, the color white, ceremony. These three parts are in correspondence to the three strange events the author encountered. It tells the boring and difficult journey he went through to try and find answers, as well as the clues he picked up in the end. Basically, this book is a travel journal. A journal detailing the journey of a man who was seeking the truth behind fables!"
"Travel journal? Does it really have records of the strange events the author encountered?" Garen asked suspiciously.
"It doesn’t really clarify what exactly was going on. However, the author has recorded that he wasn’t sure since when but he began to repeatedly have the same nightmare. To reach the roots of why he was having it and to ease the pain, he went on a journey to figure out why it was occurring. If it really was just about a nightmare, then it couldn’t be categorized as a strange event. But, at the end of the book, the author seems to have learned something. The way he wrote became a little unclear, it was as if he was tabooing something."
"Tabooing something?" Garen squinted his eyes. "Can we find some information on the author?"
"No. From what I’ve noticed, after the author arrived at this one place and came out of it, there was a huge change in the book’s content and it became ambiguous," Felicity explained.
"What is that place?"
"Rochwell Empire Library."
Garen frowned, picked up the book, and flipped through it.
"Look at the back cover, there is something!" Felicity yelled anxiously.
Garen flipped to the last page in a hurry. Immediately, a white piece of paper that was tucked between the cracks of the back cover fell out. If it wasn’t for the cover being cracked after such a long time, a knife would have been needed to pry open the cover to get that piece of paper.
Felicity quickly picked it up and unfolded it.
On it was written only a single line: Navici Tsunami Mountain No. 174, under the third tree and six meters deep. I left the stuff there. – Charlie
"It’s a note! Nobody has found it before us, or else this piece of paper wouldn’t still be tucked in the book cover." Felicity was thrilled. "Let’s go check it out! Maybe we can get our hands on something cool!"
"Navici… Where is this?" Garen had never heard of this place before.
"It’s at the Jade Mountain Province, on the border of the Confederation. The province’s capital is Navici. The Jade Mountain is a very poor province. It has awful soil and there is a lack of natural resources. Other than an overabundance of sunlight, there isn’t a lot of advantages to that area. Their grapes and honeydew melon are quite nice though." Felicity became even more eager. "What do you think? Want to go? Let’s go together!"
"Jade Mountain Province is too far from here…" Garen was speechless. "If we take the train, it’ll take us a week. Going there and back will take us half a month."
"What are you afraid of? We have plenty of time." Felicity waved her hand, indicating that she did not mind.
Garen thought about it for a second. "How about this, let’s decide after a while. I have to go back to school soon and the timing just doesn’t work out. I also have a lot of errands to take care of. Felicity, don’t you have some stuff going on at home too? How can you squeeze out the time to travel?"
"It’s not that bad." Felicity then remembered something, and her thrilled look faded a little. "You’re right. I do have some stuff to take care of. It might take us a whole month to go there and back. Okay… then let’s make plans for our next break."
"Sure." Garen nodded without hesitation.
The two of them studied the content of the book for a bit longer. Both were rather excited. Only when the clock on the wall announced the time with its loud bangs, did the two of them unwillingly stop.
"It’s almost noon, I have to go get some lunch. There’s some stuff I need to do in the afternoon." Garen stood up and softly sighed.
"Something to do? What do you have to do? It’s our break, yet you’re so busy all the time. Aren’t you tired?" Felicity finally took her leg off the chair. It was numb from keeping the same pose for so long, and she stumbled, falling backward.
Without knowing it, her small butt was aimed straight at Garen’s lower body.
At that moment, both of them froze.
Felicity’s cheeks slowly turned red as she felt a warm object slowly rising behind her. It suddenly jumped and stabbed her at a sensitive spot.
She screamed and jumped away as if she had been electrocuted. "You wanna die?" She turned around and cupped her butt with her hands. She stared down at Garen. 
 
"I-" Garen shrugged. "You were the one that hit me. I can’t control something like that…" he responded in a low voice.
"Go to hell!" Felicity kicked Garen’s lower leg and left angry and red-faced.
Garen helplessly looked at the white and grey footprint on his leg. This kick didn’t even make him itch. To a regular person however, it would definitely be a kick hard enough to bruise their bones. She was wearing a pointy leather shoe after all.
"Whatever. I have to go the old man’s place in the afternoon. Ah, Ying Er is the only one nice to me. Even when she fights me, she doesn’t hit hard."
He dusted off the dirt off his pants and walked out of the library. There was no sight of Felicity. After taking out his card to sign out for leaving, he hailed down a horse carriage and went home.
Sitting in the carriage, Garen closed his eyes and rested his mind while checking the status of his attributes. This was something he did regularly everyday.
Strength 2.22. Agility 1.10. Physique 1.87. Intelligence 1.50. Potential 258%. White Cloud Secret Arts: Great Achievement (Stage 4). Explosive Fist Arts: Intermediate. White Cloud Combat Arts: Intermediate.
"Strength went up a little bit. I’m not sure what to do with the potential I’ve been collecting though…" Garen thought about it with a frown.
"Before I kept on improving my Strength and as a result my Explosive Fist Arts became intermediate level. After acquiring strong defense and solo combat skills, I should be undefeatable in the short term. But if I run into a speedy opponent, then I’m in trouble. With my physique and my grasp on combat, I am considered to be an advanced martial artist. Compared to second senior brother and elder senior sister though, I am still lacking behind by a lot despite my advantage over normal people. I am not sure which attribute I should try to improve next."
He glanced over the Agility attribute. The number 1.10 hadn’t changed since the beginning. 
 
"I remember the elder senior sister telling me a few days ago that real masters cannot have any visible flaws. Even if they have them, they need to learn how to compensate for that weakness. My speed right now should be my most obvious flaw. It seems like I’ll need to greatly improve my agility as well."
After analyzing, he finally focused his view on the Agility attribute.
After a few seconds, the number jumped from 1.10 to 1.20.
Another second passed, the Strength attribute hopped as well, from 2.22 to 2.42.
Garen was somewhat shocked. He looked at his Potential Meter. He had used up all of the potential he’d saved up over the last few weeks. There was 158% left.
"Why does improving my agility causs my strength to go up?" He was speechless. "Could it be.." He suddenly thought of a possibility. "Even if I want to keep my strength unchanging and only try to increase my speed, the explosive force that results from it will definitely increase as well. This means speed plus strength creates the real explosive force and damage! I think this is the true trick behind these attributes. With a high strength attribute, I can add a little speed to exponentially increase my explosive force and damage."
He noticed that after the agility attribute went up, another symbol appeared. Looking carefully, the meaning of the symbol naturally flew into his mind.
"The difference between strength and agility is too big, therefore the two of them affect each other." Garen looked at the other attributes. "If that’s the case, then should I try to even out all my attributes? I shouldn’t be too extreme with one attribute because it will drag down my other attributes too."
With the little of potential left, Garen didn’t use it up. The potential in the Black Jade Disk had been dying down and the potential inside was less than he anticipated. Because of that, it took longer to absorb the potential and after another time, two at best, there would be nothing left to absorb.
Sitting on the carriage, he slowly took out the Black Jade Disk form his pants’ pocket. This piece of antique that looked like a tough medal was emitting potential that was as thin as a strand of hair.
Garen brushed his fingers over this long rectangular small medal and felt the uneven and bumpy words and carvings.
"After I absorb all of it, I can sell it through a company or through the Golden Hoop. It’ll probably fetch me a lot of money and I’ll be able to use it to find more Antiques of Tragedy." Garen moved around to feel the effects of the change in his attributes. "I guess I won’t go to the old man’s today, but try out my new physique at the dojo. If I don’t familiarize myself, I might screw up in my next combat. I haven’t been that dedicated to going regularly. When I see Master this afternoon, he will lecture me for sure…"
Garen smiled helplessly.

Coming out from the huge lecture hall, David found an empty seat at the edge of  the building and sat on it as he opened up his interface.

Instantly, a few rays of light flew out from his wrist, where his imprint was located at. His interface arranged themselves right in front of him. Although he could clearly see the details carefully, others could only roughly see a rainbow made of lights. 

Opening up his library, he found the book he was looking for. INTRODUCTION TO THE GENES. It was written at the beginning of the massive book. David was put in despair once again as he saw the huge book. 

Flipping open the cover, David began to skim through them with his eyes and then flipped the page to the next page. He had only two hours to delay after which he must leave for the old man's place. Otherwise, the old man would suspect that something was wrong somewhere.

"What the hell in hade's nine hells are you doing?" an expressionless voice sounded from behind David in a deep surprised tone. 

Nihyuh emerged from the crowds of students exiting the hall. He was dumbfounded at what he saw. He couldn't help but blink his eyes in disbelief. 

David who would hardly read the instructions manual unless being forced to had taken a book and was unexpectedly reading it. It had given Nihyuh a slight shock. 

Although he was unable to see what David was doing, but from David's actions, he could vaguely see that David was reading. 

"Can you not disturb me right now? I'm really busy and don't have enough time to talk to you." David frowned as he waved his hand at Nihyuh and continued to read the book.

Nihyuh chuckled and he stride David's front. Intending to see if David was truly serious with it. 

But was surprised that even after several seconds, David's eyes never left the book he was reading. He wasn't even aware Nihyuh was still before him and was thoroughly immersed in what he was reading..

With a slight sneer Nihyuh left as he had something to attend to. Otherwise he would have waited to see through David's charade. 

Roughly an hour and a half later, David packed up his things when he was reminded by the timer he had set earlier, and called for transport. He waited for a few seconds as he continued to flip through the book. 

Suddenly, David seem to have reached the last page of the book, he opened his library and place the book into it while also grabbing another book. 

It was the third time he had switched the books.

As soon as he spotted the Cruiser that came for him, he alighted on the ship  when it landed before him, still reading the book on the way. 

Roughly 20 minutes later, David exited the Sky Cruiser. He breathed out roughly as he stared nervously at the familiar white building in front of him. 

Shaking his body, he followed the familiar route he had taken previously and ended up at the familiar wooden door. 

Knocking on them heavily. "Why don't you just break down the door while you're at it?" David smiled slightly when he heard the familiar voice of his master. 

Swinging open the door, he casually strode in as replied "I could do that but I don't want to break that fragile heart of yours, so I just let it be." David shrugged and grabbed the chair, sitting on it with familiarity. 

"Alright I'm here old man. Have you finally decided to give me the gadgets you promised?" David's eyes lit up and he leaned on the table with hope in his expression. 

"Hehe. Do you think I would actually waste such precious things on you with that mouth of yours?" the white haired man sneered. 

"Don't kid your self." He snorted and rolled his eyes at David as he adjusted his glasses. 

"How is your progress on the books I gave you earlier?" Mr White asked finally. 

David felt his heart clenched a little bit he replied casually. "It's going well, really well actually." He leaned back in the chair. 

"Oh! Is that so? Then you wouldn't mind me asking you a bit of questions right?" Mr White finally revealed his trump card. 

David's face twitched slightly and he felt his heart drop. Although he had expected something like that to happen. He had hoped the man would be so kind to not ask. 

"Sure, ask away. It wasn't as though I wasn't reading the book throughout the week." His voice was beginning to shake a little, showing he was slightly nervous. 

The man gazed at David suspiciously and stared at David for several seconds but David didn't shy down, he was shameless to begin with. 

The old man finally relented and then said. "Alright, Since you accepted to be questioned, i shouldn't disappoint you."

"Define Gene Editing in your own understanding and do not think of cheating with your AI, I have deactivated your Imprint anyways." He added as he asked. 

David smiled bitterly in his heart. Even if he wanted to cheat, there was still the case if Hazel would actually help him in achieving it.

Silenced reigned in the small office as the white haired man gaped at David in astonishment. What David had just stated was the textbook explication of Gene Editing. He had expected David to just spew out some random words or nonsense but he had never expected to memorize the whole explanation.

David was also surprised as couldn't stop himself either. He was totally confused as to where those words came from.

Being very suspicious, Mr White checked his imprint and saw that he had truly deactivated David's imprint.

He then opened his mouth to ask another question. "Define DNA drift for me."

"Genetic drift also known as DNA adaptation is the change in the frequency of an existing gene either variant or original in a population due to random sampling of that organisms. The genomes in the subject are a sample of those in the parents, and chance has a role in determining whether a given individual survives and reproduces. If some one had told him a while ago that he was this smart. David was pretty sure he would immediately request a Duel and beat the person up for mocking his intelligence. Yup, he knew his limits and these was just too much for him.
