I wipe my eyes, slowly adjusting to the light of the morning sun, streaming through the bedroom window, and drag my body into a sitting position. 

Looking down, I sigh, sometime during the night I must have shed my clothes and am now only in my underwear. Thoughts cloudy, I try to focus, turning my head to the left side of the bed, I notice the empty sheets. 

Empty! 

EMPTY!!! 

Jumping out of the bed, I land on the wooden floorboards with a thud, the cold wood causing my joints to groan as I gain my balance. Looking around the room, I manage to locate my discarded clothing, folded neatly on the rocking chair, and begin shoving them on. My eyes, the entire time, searching the room for my absent stranger. 

Bathroom? I think, hoping that he is just using the toilet. 

Heading in the direction of the barn door, trying and failing not to stumble whilst pulling my pants on, I pull it aside and peer inside. 

Nothing, Shit, Shit, Shitty McShit! Tugging on my crinkled blouse and pulling it over my bra I rush to the top of the landing, looking down, still nothing. 

Bounding down the stairs, taking them two at a time, I open the front door, and still, no sign of my stranger... 

Checking everywhere I can think of, all areas now searched, I grab my bag and check to see that all my personal items are still inside. 

Phone, wallet, keys – located. 

Nothing missing, cash, and cards accounted for. It is like it never happened, how many drinks did I have? 

Moving outside and tugging on boots, I head to my car to survey the damage, looking for something to justify that last night DID happen. 

Reaching the front panel, I bend down and check, locating a small dent and traces of what looks like dark rust. 

"Fuck, shit, shit, double shit, where the fuck did you go?" 

It happened, it really happened! 

I hit someone with my car, brought them home, put them in my bed then... I thought last night was bizarre, but having this vanish act occur, certainly takes the cake. 

Turning around and returning to the porch, I notice something furry and red lying to the side of the welcome mat. 

I must have missed it when I came outside. 

Moving closer I gag as the furry object changes into a torso of what once was a rabbit, and the red... 

Vomiting off the side of the rail, head spinning, I take several deep breaths trying to collect myself. 

Missing naked man, headless rabbit, WTF! Where is my God dammed tranquility! 

Calming, I steel myself, walk inside to the kitchen, locate a pair of tongs and a garbage bag and return outside to quickly dispose of the poor bunny, placing its carcass and utensil in the trash. 

Returning back to the cabin, my stomach and head a mess, I wash my hands in the bathroom basin, making sure to thoroughly scrub off any potential animal residue, and look at my reflection in the mirror. My hair is matted, curls no longer smooth. My brown eyes, red around the edges, and my skin pale. 

Washing last night off my face, I move back into the bedroom, close the curtains, remove my clothes, and dive straight into bed. Burying myself under the covers, I notice the slight smell of pine and spice filling my nostrils, the scent surprisingly soothing as I close my eyes.

It is mid-afternoon when I reemerge to the world of the living, feeling a little achy, possibly the result of oversleeping. 

Dragging myself out of the overly comfortable bed, I take myself to the bathroom and shower, brushing my teeth and letting the hot water soothe my lower back. 

Cracking my neck, I notice that my lower muscles are swollen, tender, similar to PMT. I had my period last week so it must be stress. 

Exiting the water and wrapping my body in an oversized fluffy brown towel, I finger comb my hair, tying it into a messy bun, and dab on some light moisturizer to my face and neck before leaving. 

Locating a comfortable pair of yoga pants and a baggy sweater I tug them on over my fresh underwear and slip my feet into soft grey woolen uggs, a gift from Erin on her trip to Australia last spring. 

Making my way down to the living area, I open a bottle of wine and relight the fire, grabbing a few additional logs from the porch. 

Turning on the TV, I position myself on the end of leather modular stretching out and covering my legs with a soft grey blanket. 

"Bodies found in the Hemlock ravine north of Black Mountain are believed to be those of the missing men. It is still too early to determine the cause of the accident but authorities are confident that they will have more information in the coming days." A blond woman in the thick brown winter coat reports from outside of Brady's Pub. 

The scene now shifts to a newsroom where a man with salt and pepper hair is looking directly into the screen, "Thanks Jillian, now over to Bruce who has the latest in the upcoming college draft... 

Turning the sound down, I grab my computer, powering it on. 

Typing: 'current news stories on Black Mountain' into the search engine, and looking to see if there is anything about my visitor from last night. 

Stories of missing locals Jase O'Connell and Evan McCarthy appear, clicking on one of the articles I find a photo of the two men, in their late twenties, neither of them my visitor, but both are strong/fit-looking, smiling at the camera, the one to the left sporting a bright red jacket whilst the one on the right was only wearing a white T-shirt. 

The caption below reading: 'Image was taken 14.10.19'. 

2 weeks ago. 

Continuing to search other articles I manage to find multiple stories of animal killings, community markets, and the upcoming Halloween festival this weekend, but nothing on my stranger. 

Continuing to search but not finding anything relating to my mystery guest, I decide to close my PC and grab my phone, 3 missed texts from Erin... 

Bitch, how was your first night on the prowl – how was mountain man?... E 10:26 am 

I assume with your lack of response that you are still in bed with said man. I WANT DETAILS!... E 11:45 am 

BAH, what type of friend are you to leave a girl hanging???? AVA???.. E 1:36pm 

Not knowing how to explain last night, I keep my response brief. 

No, go with Mountain man 1, Mountain man 2 seems ok, meeting him tomorrow night for dinner, no details as yet will text more tomorrow... A 5:45 pm 

Placing my phone on the charger, I make my way into the kitchen to figure out dinner.

My stomach presently satisfied after a meal of cottage pie, leftovers in the fridge, and an empty bottle of wine later, I drag myself to the magnificent tub, turning on the brass taps and running the water, adding a few bath salts, the scent of vanilla and lavender and hoping that they will help with my lower back. 

Removing my clothes, I move to the vanity choosing to apply a clay mask. 

Using my fingers to extend the mixture to my neck I wince as I touch a tender spot at the junction between neck and shoulder. 

Turning in the mirror I investigate the source of the pain and notice red swelling where my scars are, towards the back of my neck, almost like a bite. 

Oh God, there better not be spiders under my pillow! 

Moving to the bed, I cautiously wrap my hand around the end of the quilt and breathe deeply. Once it is secured in my grip, I quickly pull it aside, stepping back to avoid any hidden dangers lurking below. 

Empty, nothing but rumpled bedsheets and a slight red stain between both pillows. 

I'll have to wash them tomorrow, thank God for the washer dryer in the little outhouse at the back of the cabin. 

Returning to the bathroom, I move to the tub which is now 3/4 full and enter. The temperature is perfect, my muscles relaxing at the heat, causing a low moan to come from my throat. Leaning back so the water now rests just above my chest, I turn to the window, which is still open from the day before, and take in the night. 

Marveled at the beauty beyond, I take in the clear sky, displaying a canvas of stars, with the moon its centerpiece shining brightly above. 

Closing my eyes, I take in the sounds of nature, a symphony to my ears. 

Smiling to myself, I take it all in, this is not something you can experience this in the city. Moving my legs in the water, I allow the music of the outside to flow through me, the gentle noises causing my eyes to droop, my mind becoming one with the creatures outside. 

Everything is clearer, from the crickets chirping, their sound a mating call. The owls hooting declaring their claim to a particular territory and the wolves howling. What the F... 

Sitting up in the tub, I grab the nearest cloth and wash off my mask. 

Wolves how the hell do I know the sounds are from wolves? 

Heart beating, stepping out of the bath, I securely tie on a robe that was hanging on a hook next to the barn door and head downstairs locking the front door. 

I may love the sounds of nature but being as isolated as I am, the thought of nature being that close is not something I am that comfortable with. 

Feeling a little more secure, I grab my phone off the charger noticing several more texts and images from Erin and return upstairs, climbing under the covers the pine smell still there and start replying.

My trip to Black Mountain was supposed to be a time for relaxation and give me an opportunity to heal from the painful memories of the past and to finally move on. But now, this once-majestic place from my childhood is quickly becoming a nightmare. How can I ever be free when I am claimed?

In order to walk to Lynn En's territory, the journey took seven days from Twin Peak City, the closest inhabited land near his territory. It was a very remote area, with the mountains in the distance and maple trees strewn about. Lynn was a little shocked when he first saw the mountains
"They are bigger than I expected."
"There are too many nobles in the central region," Lucy said playfully. "Their territories are very rich, but pale in comparison to the size of our territories. The northern nobles' land are very different. This mountain is probably equal to five Kyles."
Lynn felt the air brush past his body and felt satisfaction run through his mind.
"The climate here is cool, but in a comfortable way."
"Yes, the climate is suitable for living, and farming is also quite good. It was originally bountiful land, but there are many monsters on the mountain along with ordinary beasts. Because of this, it is difficult to survive and was long abandoned."
Lucy was actually not satisfied with this territory at all. Her mother clearly had better territory to give Lynn, and as his fiancee she wished that Lynn could get the best things. Lynn, however, was very satisfied with the land. This territory is perfect! The bigger it is, the better! Using my search skills along with the territory will reap the best benefits.
Lynn could slowly collect all the valuable items on the mountain for his own use! After reaching his territory, Lynn got out of the carriage and met with Buno.  Together, they looked at the civilians in front of them. Both of them were surprised at the sight. There were only a hundred people in the whole village, and they were all dressed in worn out clothing with poor complexions. The cause was most likely malnutrition. Once they saw Lynn, every one of them kneeled before Lynn.
"Welcome, my Lord," says the foremost villager.
"Stand up. I wish to clean up my residence. Whoever is familiar with the building, go to my house," said Lynn casually.
"The old man is familiar," a villager points out.
"What is your name?" Lynn asks the old man.
"Name? My name is... Bark."
The name sounds funny and strange to Lynn. Where Lynn used to live, everyone had a name.  If they did not, they would not be able to register with the local authority. But here, in the savage land, only the wealthy commoners and noblemen used their names. The people in similar villages as this one tended not to use their names for their entire lifetimes. Usually, they used the different articles that could be found in nature as their first name.
"Well, come follow me later on."
Once Lynn finished speaking, he dispersed the civilians. Lynn looked around the village, and noticed that the village was surrounded by stone walls.  For this village to have fortifications was amazing in itself. This showed that the people here were not lazy, at the very least, but the village being impoverished and very small were its drawbacks.
The place was also very backwards, as evident by how the road was made out of mud and the feces that could be seen everywhere. The Lord's Castle was also pitifully small and decrepit, as it only had two floors and was very old. However, it was the only bluestone building in the village. All things considered, right now Lynn was the most powerful and rich person in the village. Lynn was not happy with the way the village was handled in the past.
After entering the castle, though, Lynn was relieved. Although the building looked dilapidated, the bluestone bricks were rugged and the decorations inside the castle were complete.  Lynn toured around the building entering the first floor lobby, the kitchen, the servants' room, and finally the warehouse.  Lynn also noticed that there were three large rooms on the second floor, consisting of a study room, a bedroom, and a storage room.
Lynn asked a villager to clean up the building for a while as he brought the fireplace to life.  Almost instantly, the humidity and cold heated to a comfortable temperature.
"I am okay with this place, but I am unsure about you and I do not want to do wrong by you.  Have you ever lived in such a broken down place?" Lynn asked Lucy.
People who have made great items did not care about details such as these, but Lucy was different.  She was spoiled ever since she was born.  Lynn was afraid she would not be used to it. However, Lucy was of a different mind.
"Since you are here, I have not been wronged.  Rather, I am happy to finally no longer leave your side at night."
Lynn smiled at her words. This is when Bark came over and began to converse with Lynn En in fear. After conversing with Bark, Lynn understood the situation of the territory. It was fifteen acres of arable land, and for a village it was an alright amount.  Yet, the yield per square meter1 was very small.
Instead of planting wheat, the villagers planted a kind of rye that was suitable for cultivation in this colder area. The yield was about three hundred kilograms2 per square meter in a year. This was due to the rye having only one harvestable season.
With the amount of people in the village, they only have a little more than four thousand catties of grain a year. The villagers have to rely on hunting in order to continue to feed themselves.
However, the death rate from hunting was very high. At the foot of the mountain, silver wolves often lingered around the area. Also, since the location of the town was so remote, caravans did not travel over here.  The cultivation of vegetables solely depended on the small fields given to each family to farm. Needless to say, life was very difficult. After Lynn got to know about Bark and the territory, he went searching for Buno and found him.
"Bring your weapons, and call five people. Have them follow me to the foot of the mountain," orders Lynn.
"Yes, Master Lynn," replies Buno.
"Call me Lord Lynn."
"Yes, Lord Lynn," Buno laughed.
As a good friend of Lynn's mother, Buno loved Lynn from the bottom of his heart and protected Lynn for ten years. Lynn took the people that Buno called and set out for the foot of the mountain. It's getting a bit late, Lynn noted. He suddenly heard the howl of a wolf off in the distance.
Lynn was a little prepared for battle as he wore a full set of armor. The most favored set of armor in the Holy Continent was the heavy armor which was good in defense.  Although, Lynn found it inconvenient as it hindered mobility. Nonetheless, he was wearing it now since it would shield him from the wolves.
Lynn led his people over to the direction of the howl and saw a silver-haired wolf pack sprawled about the rocky terrain. The wolves also spotted Lynn and his entourage, and quickly gathered in formation.  They bared their teeth at the humans, and looked at them as their dinner.
Lynn rushed at the wolves, using the physical strength that he had gained from tens years of training. He only wished he had not failed at mastering magic, though. Today, Lynn will catch a wolf! They were taken aback by Lynn's charge, as they had not thought that a human would initiate the attack. Lynn took advantage of their shock and strangled a wolf, causing both of them to roll in the grass underneath them. At that instant, Lynn felt that he could use a skill.
"Evolution!" Lynn shouted.
He used the points that were awarded by the system earlier, and the Silver Wolf's body underwent a tremendous change in an instant.  In the blink of an eye, it had become stronger and gained human characteristics! Lynn spent another ten system points and the wolf underwent more transformations.  It had grown human hands and feet, along with a more human like face. Yet, it still retained the appearance of a wolf. There was still hair on its body, but it could stand up and walk. Even though it could not speak, Lynn felt that it had absolute loyalty to him!
"Go, catch the other four Silver Wolves!"
Lynn instantly gave up continuing to evolve the Silver Wolf further. Although he wanted to continue to make it stronger, Lynn needed more troops in his army!  With a sizable amount of soldiers, he would be able to sweep the mountain for resources.
The half wolf obediently executed Lynn's order. The villagers who were still fighting the Silver Wolves were terrified when they saw the half wolf charged towards them, and they tried to resist it. However, the half wolf ignored them and caught two of the other wolves and brought them to Lynn.
After a while, Lynn successfully evolved two more wolves and added them to his army.  The other Silver Wolves were scared and tried to run away, but they were still caught and evolved into loyal soldiers.  As Lynn was in the grass evolving the wolves, he had successfully transformed five half-wolf men. He would call them the Silver Wolf Legion! They were the first army that he had, which could take on fifty humans due to their combat power that far outdid humans' strength!

All the forest guards and the officers were called back to the city, for rescue operations. No one was there to guard the forest, and this was the perfect chance that team Alpha wanted to take advantage of.
Team Alpha was a group of hunters, specialising in hunting and selling animals. A team of expert poachers, in short. Generally they hunt whenever they get an order or a commission, but that day was special. Observing a golden chance like that, none of them could control their greed.
They packed their weapons, checked their traps and set out their camps to hunt for some wolfs. The forest they were currently roaming was a national reserve for artic wolfs.
They are often called polar wolf or white wolf found in the Artic regions of North America and Greenland. Thanks to its isolation, the Artic wolf is not threatened by hunting and habitant destruction. Few years ago, according to a conservation plan, made by the World Society for the Protection of Animals, Japan was given few artic wolfs, and was asked to raise them at their place.
It was a sort of backup plan, to save their species from any type of disease or virus in the near future. If for some reason the artic wolfs come to an extinction then the one kept in other countries can be used for the revival of the species.
Team Alpha started their killing spree around noon time, and continued till evening. It was quite a profitable day for them, in the beginning they were only setting traps to kill the artic wolves, but when they found out the wolves were acting strange and weakened for some reasons, they started to kill them by hands (With knife and dagger).
The haul was good, the day was good, and the profits were out of their expectations. Everything was going good, and team Alpha was very content that day.
They were going to earn billions by selling the furs, claws, teeth, skins and most importantly meat of the artic wolves. These all things would have happened with them and they would have become billionaires if not for the misfortune that fell upon them that night.
After having their dinner the members were taking turns in guarding the camp and rest in between. It was already past 11 and Jia, one of the skilled hunter of the group was guarding their camp alone.
While roaming here and there she heard a squeaking sound from somewhere. At first she thought she must have been hearing things, later she realised that sound was coming from somewhere near.
After searching here and there and following that sound, she finally found the source of the place, and hit another second jackpot of the day.
Since the inside of the cave was dark and she didn't want to alert the wolves by using a torch light, she sneakily went inside the cave and used her thermal sensing glasses to scan the inside of the cave.
Seven baby pups and one big wolf was sleeping soundly at the end of the cave, though their camp was very near, they were unable to spot it, thanks to all the trees hiding that cave completely.
After giving it some thought she returned back to the camp, and unpacked her weapons for the hunt. They were done for the day, and had already packed everything.
They were planning to move out of the forest and meet their dealers the next morning. Jia equipped herself with her guns and dagger and returned to that cave again.
She didn't wake up the others as she didn't want to share her profits this time. The preys were baby pups and a mother wolf, she was of the idea that she will kill them in a flash.
And this was the last and the most memorable mistake of her life. Like the first time she sneakily went inside and hide beside a rock to observe her pray.  
After confirming its safe, she slowly moved forward lighted up a small bomb in her possession. Her plan was simple throw the bomb and kill everyone in one go.  
More than the skin, and claws, she wanted the meat of those baby pups. She lighted up her bomb and threw it deep into the cave.
The mother wolf woke up from its sleep after smelling the odour of the explosives. She started deep in the dark and realised someone had invaded her territory. The explosive was dropped just before her kids, and she had no way to stop it from exploding.
Without thinking much she jumped onto the baby pups and acted as a shield to protect them from the explosion.
BOOM!!
The noise prevailed throughout the area. The other members of the team heard the noise and ran towards the source of sound in a hurry.
Upon reaching the explosion site, they found out the reason of the explosion and the person behind it. The reason was their TN-36 high power explosives and the one behind it was none other than Jia, the youngest member of the group.
As soon as they reached there, they started the rescue operation.
  They knew what Jia was up to but they didn't give it any thought and started their rescue operation. Things like that were common in their field of work, and Jia was still the youngest member of all.

I sit on my table, gazing at an empty sheet of paper, trying my best to look busy. It's my second day as a combat soldier, and I can already say everything has been a wild ride. Just the mere fact that I ended up being assigned to the Flame Emperor is enough news to make me start questioning my decision. Seriously, am I ready to be here?
I shake my head mentally, convincing myself to calm down. I can't turn back now anyway. I steal a glance at the smiling Major Felix, but I immediately turn my eyes. This is really happening; I really am assigned under him. It's not a dream. My first go as a combat soldier and I'm assigned under one of the most famous fire wielder in the country.
Yesterday, Lt. Song tried to convince us that he's not so scary, but am I to believe her words over all the rumors and newspaper articles about him? Just being around him is enough to make me rethink my choices. I can't seem to get myself to calm down, no matter how hard I try. I'm sure everyone else in the team is nervous too, but not as nervous as I am. There's an intensity around the major that announces to everyone that he's a legendary wielder, and my knees shake in the face of that intensity. I'm nervous enough about being in a combat team, and now I'll also have to face the challenge of being under the Flame Emperor's wing. 
How will I ever be able to manage to be around him as a member of his team? Won't I just be in his way? What if I mess up? Why was I even assigned here in the first place?
A ping on the office notification board alerts all of us, pulling me from my internal fretting. 
All offices, whether combat or intelligence, has an electronic board much like a television. This is the notification board. It notifies the offices on meetings, mission assignments, and other important information. Personnel are also given tablets and computers, partially for the same purpose, and also as a way of accessing and submitting files easier. 
We are also given watches that display holographic screens. It's like a hand-held computer, displaying notifications, and allowing communication between team members and the intelligence office. It helps keep personnel updated on the go, as well as inform them in case of emergencies. All Lirian soldiers are supposed to wear these watches at all times. The contact number to these devices are the personnel numbers of the soldier. Given that these are electronic gadgets, they can't really be around any type of wielding. This is one of the reasons why wielding is now regulated in the country. 
Anyway, Major Felix checks on the notification.
"Looks like we're going to the stables. We're scheduled to select our horses today."
That's right. Cars and other modern modes of transportation will malfunction once faced with wielding, so they aren't really trustworthy for soldiers. That's why Lirian personnel are given their own horses for transportation in case of situations where cars and like are unusable. Even we office workers at Central Intelligence Office, where I used to work at, are given these steeds as rides even though we are not expected to enter the combat field. 
You leave your horse at the state when you transfer, so we have to choose new ones each time we are assigned to a new state. Looks like it's time for us to choose our horse companions here in the North.
At least this one activity is one that I'm familiar with. I can't possibly mess up by choosing a horse.

Even though only four of us need to choose new horses, Major Lais suggested that we all go to the stables. 'They won't be assigning us any missions as of now. Besides, you guys should check on your horses every once in a while', he reasoned.
A balding old man greets us when we arrive at the stables.
"You people here to choose your steeds?" he asked.
"Yup, we sure are," the major replies. 
"I see. My name is Laius. I'm the stable master here."
Laius led us inside the stables. Horses of all colors are inside, each separated by wooden planks. Workers milled around, feeding the horses, grooming their coats, and sanding their heels. These horses must be kept healthy and battle ready, and are given expert care. In the event of a battle that involves wielding, these are our only reliable modes of transportation.
We walk around the stables as Laius names all the unclaimed steeds. All horses here are top quality, so there is no real need to be picky. 
I approach a dark brown one, making sure to appear as nonthreatening as possible. He eyes me wearily, but doesn't buck as I put my hand on his mane.
"Good boy," I say in a low voice.
"That one's a good choice. His name is Ryeinel. Calm horse, but reliable  when needed," Laius says. 
Ryeinel seems to recognize his name. He turns his head towards Laius as he hears it. Like Laius said, he is calm, even in the presence of strangers. 
Seeing no problem, I claim him. Having my own steed calms me down a little. I finally have my own companion here at the North. 
Riders are supposed to care for and train their own steeds. This allows the two to form strong bonds. Hanging out with a steed always manages to calm me down, even then when I was still working at Central. I used to sneak around to hang out with my previous horse when I was in a bind. I look forward to doing the same here. 
Sgt. Maraya also manages to choose a horse immediately. He chooses Melias, an energetic light brown steed. Now only Major Felix and Lt. Song are companionless.
"Would you like to check the sybillian enclosure?" Laius offers.
He's referring to the enclosure of the sybillian wolves, a breed of wolves that grow to become as big as horses, sometimes even bigger. 
Horses are not the only option for steeds, after all. Some Lirian soldiers ride deer, bears, and even giant bald-eagles. Of course those cases are rare. Still, sybillian wolves are perhaps the best option for steeds; they are big, fast, muscular hunters who can be stealthy if they want to, and also be ferocious fighters alongside their companions.
"Sure. Let's do that," Major Felix responds. The rest of use only look at each other. I guess it's only fitting for him to ride such a steed.
"Now remember, these beings can be unpleasant," Laius explains as we walk towards the enclosure. 
"Make sure to keep your fear to yourself when they approach you. Or else you might end up getting on the wrong side of those fangs. Once you enter the enclosure, they will come out to inspect you. You'll know if one chooses you, and you'll definitely know if they don't like you," Laius says. 	Sybillian wolves don't get chosen as steeds by soldiers, they chose their companion on their own. Being such mighty beings as they are, they do not just let anyone ride their backs. I heard that they even bite down on some hopeful soldiers who try to take one for a steed, sometimes doing more than just biting down. Still, if they find you worthy, they will apparently fight by your side till their dying breath. Major Felix seems confident though. 
"Here we are," Laius says as we reach a gate. The enclosure is huge, more like a forest than a part of the stables.
"You keep them in there?" Sgt. Maraya asks.
"Not keep, kid. You don't go around keeping such beings like you do with horses. They live there. This is the backdoor of the stables, connected to this forest. They hunt a large area of these forests, but somehow they always seem to know if someone enters their land. The word enclosure is just a technicality," Laius answers. 
He turns to Major Felix. 
"Now, we'll be right here in case they decide you're an early dinner. All you have to do is walk past this gate. They'll come to you."
"Oh, I won't be going out there. I don't wanna end up being wolf-chow," he replies with a laugh. 
What does he mean? I thought he wanted a wolf for a steed. The other team members seem to share my assumptions; now they look bewildered.
"I don't stand a chance of wowing those big scary wolves, I know that one well. I'll settle for a horse. This trip to the enclosure is not for me," he adds, turning towards us with smile on his face. 
"What do you say, Len? Wanna ride a wolf?"

Life is difficult enough for a Lirian soldier. Training for ten years, hunting evil deimos, solving crimes, facing powerful weilders, keeping the peace in a tension-filled world, each Lirian soldier has a lot on their plate. It doesn't become any easier if you have to deal with a dark past that looms at every corner. Albion read the article, but there was no critical information or anything of interest apart from Thanatos' achievement mentioned in the title and itself.
"Level 51 Hunter, huh? That's about a 51-fold increase in strength," Albion muttered before recalling, "The Four Horsemen were Transcendent Martial Artists, people who advanced to the Spirit Transformation Realm..."
"In the practice of martial arts, Foundation Realm Martial Arts train their body to be quick and fast. Once the secret of inertia is mastered, Inner Force is generated, advancing them to Initiate Realm Martial Artists..."
"Inner Force is then fused with the Martial Artists' vitality, namely blood energy, to produce True Force, also known as Innate Energy. Thus, becoming Innate Realm Martial Artists, or Grandmasters for short..."
This was also the realm of martial arts that Albion suppressed his cultivation to.
"The Spirit Transformation Realm is the next realm after. By fusing Innate Energy and Spirit, Spiritual Energy is created, thus allowing Martial Artists to embarked on the true road of cultivation..."
Albion continued to revise the essence of cultivation before he muttered, "This is why Spirit Transformation Realm Martial Artists are called Transcendents, huh?"
Achieving the Spirit Transformation Realm was also the first shredding of mortality, allowing Transcendents to live up to 1000 years.
"Early-stage Spirit Transformation Realm Martial Artists with a 51-fold increase in strength is still far from being comparable to the True Immortal Realm..." Albion shook his head after his calculations.
However, shortly after, Albion frowned at the existence of Phantasmium, "Even a dog's bite will hurt if I just let it bite me... At least, I should let it bite my hand and not my balls..."
Ahem, in other words, he should be careful and not complacent, preventing the enemy from striking him where it hurts.

While looking through news articles about dimensional rifts and beasts, Albion noticed they were all related to the virtual dimension.
Lower dimensions naturally have weak interdimensional beasts, but what about higher dimensions?
"Goldfinger, why haven't I heard about any news pertaining to higher-level dimensional rifts?" Albion asked lazily.
[Due to the immense amount of data uploaded onto the globally shared digital network, there is no room for dimensional rifts beside the virtual dimension to open within the domain of Earth.]
Albion's eyes immediately flickered before he said, "That means..."
[Yes, the possibility of higher-level dimensional rifts existing outside of Earth is high.]
"Earth is being protected by the power of god and anime."
Goldfinger and Albion spoke at the same time.
[???]
Goldfinger was immediately filled with questions.
"Ahem, don't worry about it," Albion coughed, feeling a little embarrassed.
Shortly after, Albion hopped out of bed and headed outside in the open space of the garden before practice the Ashura Empyrean Arts.
Sitting in a lotus position, his eyes closed, his rhythmic breathing steady, and...
"Zzz..."
His snore was shortly heard.

Goldfinger was speechless.
If Goldfinger was a person, his chest would be heaving up and down in agitation due to the host he was connected to.
Can the host be any more reliable?
Perhaps due to Goldfinger's agitation, Albion was roused awake after his snort bubble popped.

Goldfinger gave the question marks before Albion snarled, "Don't play dumb with me. Give me the mission reward for wiping out the Bloodmoon Gang's Silvercove Branch!"

The notification rang after a brief silence.
"Are you messing with me right now? Stop being a stingy ass and give me my full reward!" Albion said snappishly.
The reward for the complete eradication of the Bloodmoon Gang was only 20 units of Divine Energy. Even so, he would not believe that taking out a branch only amounts to a single unit of Divine Energy.
[...Ding! 4 units of Divine Energy has been deposited.]
[Balance: 9/1000 Divine Energy.]
[Goldfinger has never met such a greedy host... Goldfinger is just trying to help the host work harder.]
Goldfinger added shortly after.
"Bullsh*t." Albion rolled his eyes and said, "And I never came across such a stingy system!"
He already got scammed so many times in online games back in his previous life. There is no way he was going to let a system exploit him too.
Thinking back to those days when he farmed enough game currency called 'Mesos' and bought his first set of throwing stars called 'Steelies,' he was overjoyed with his accomplishment. 
Alas, the game's Marketplace was a den of wolves. 
He did not know much back then and got excited when he saw a fat sheep offering to buy Steelies sets for 25% above market price. As it turns out, it was not a fat sheep but a big bad wolf. 
He ended up falling for a scam trick and sold his Steelies for a tenth of the agreed price, and his innocence was robbed that day.
Albion wanted to cough blood every time he recalled the first time he got scammed in online games.
Nevertheless, Albion resumed the Ashura Empyrean Arts' breathing technique shortly after shelving aside those memories, "Fuu... inner peace..."

As Albion cultivated, he enjoyed the nourishing feeling on his soul like he was taking a dip in cool spring.  
Time quickly flew by while he was in this state of meditative focus.

Albion thought he had shot to the peak of life, but he could not be more wrong. The immortal body was too strong for a mortal soul like him to control. He can only move for 5 minutes a day!

He became immobile and paralyzed for the rest of the time! The Four Horsemen of the Dark Emperor thought he was crippled and turned on him! They couldn't kill him physically due to his invincible body so they dropped him to the bottom of the ocean to drown!

His body was immortal. He could not die. 

Thus, he lived the following life in the dark depths of the ocean before being swallowed into the stomach of a giant sea serpent!

Before he could enjoy his new life, he had sunk to the lowest point of his life, literally!

However, the world rapidly changed after the notorious True Immortal disappeared for two years! The Apocalypse arrived, and so too, the System!

"Sigh, forget it, ruling the world is too hard. I'm a wanted man anyway. Let's just hide somewhere, watch my animes, and reading my manga and novels..."

Albion was nerfed harder than the Big Bang at the beginning of time. However, what's his, will still be his. 

"Until my soul becomes strong enough to fully wield this power, I'll just treat it as a 5-minute Super Saiyan mode I can enjoy once a day..."

He was not the Dark Emperor, but the Dark Emperor was now him. The Four Horsemen that turned on him, their day of retribution will come!

Little did Albion know, the world had more things in store for him than his quest for vengeance. The dimensional rifts that appeared everywhere and the interdimensional creatures that spilled forth from there are actually...!

 Misty mountain morning, such a calming prescence. The light is shining through just enough, it's early morning about 6am. 
  That was as calm as it got. I packed my things. As soon as I was done, I heard the screech. They had caught my scent. I would be a goner if they caught up. I grabbed my pack and book. Nothing else was of importance.

I thought I hid my identity well but they knew who I was beforehand. Only thing they needed was for me to turn Eighteen. You see in this world there are three types of people. Lowest rank The Wolves, yes wolves, not werewolves just wolves. Midteir rank Banshees, ones that'll take your soul to look young for a day, selfish ones really. And last but not least. The Highest rank Nightwalkers or Vampires. There is a lost Rank which was above Nightwalkers and that was The Wielders, magic users. Ones that could kill for fun or use the power for good. 
  Not much is known about magic users. They were taken down in the last war. That was nearly 20 years ago. The Nightwalkers didn't want any information about Wielders or the war to get to the new generation. It is rumoured that the reason was there was a magic so horrific that it was banned even by the Wielders. That didn't stop one of them though. He found the forbbiden articles and tried to use it against the nation. He wanted to be in control. 
 Enough about that. I'm about to die! 
*Whoosh*
One of the Banshees swooped down and swiped at me. 'Man they are fast' I thought. I needed a distraction. The mountain pass. If I could just collapse some of the boulders. I concentrated and flicked my hand to the right. My hand got hot and a pastel orange color emitted from my hand. The boulders rumbled and began to fall. Ducking and dodging for my life, I made it through the pass. I heard the screeches and screams but I didn't look back. 'Estwall should be near a small town but that's a start. No one should know me there' I thought.  Well I was wrong. 
 I entered the town about nightfall. I went to the Inn. 'Slaughter Hole Inn, that's a pleasant name isn't it' I sighed. A light jingle rang when I opened the door. I walked to the counter and saw a young man about 20 in age with his back turned. I gave a light knock onto the counter. He turned and I knew trouble would begin to brew. 'Why good grace was he here? Of all people why him?' My mind screamed. It was none other than Reginald Tholtsen, a Nightwalker.

A world of ranked species, one which was destroyed. Has a new problem on the rise. A cursed leader with domination on the mind is ready to take over. Four young adults are to be the saviour of this disaster. Can they do it or will this be the end?
