decypher complicated knowledge and in diagrams and inscriptions even alchemy knowledge. 
Translation - Allows him to translate all languages and tap into the knowledge of 100s or 1000 untranslated books. 
Prediction - allows him to predict the paths which he could use to improve alchemy formulas. Later with the reward, he got from training Ye Ziyun and Xiao Ning'Er he improved this skill which allowed him to improve Inscription pattens, even cultivation techniques. 
Suggestion - Tatsuya thought that this skill might suggest him on alchemy terms but since that this skill was an inactive stage. So, he still doesn't know what it does.
By Translating books Tatsuya was able to unearth skills, inscription patterns, and alchemy knowledge. Which he spread through Yang Xin.
Soon he became Alchemy Grandmaster. Soon, the upper level of the alchemy association became alchemy grandmaster.
Alchemy Knowledge was shuffled it became easier to become an alchemy apprentice. Soon because of the new pills and much-increased workload new alchemists were needed. With the support of money from the alchemy association and investment from 3 major families, new alchemy schools were opened for all age groups with a 3-year course. Those who passed would become Alchemy Apprentice.  
Tatsuya also released a novel about an alchemist's zero to hero story which motivated many people to become an alchemist. 
Because of new pills released by the alchemy association cultivation of those silver or gold rank increased and the cost of alchemy pills decreased. This raised standard of fighters and demon spiritualists that could be found in Glory City.

Alright, let me make this clear. This is my first novel, at the start of it I wasn't sure that is why the first 25 chapters focus a little more than necessary on Nie Li. After that, it changes. I am frankly tired of hearing the same shit. I can stop and writing new chapters and rewrite the starting chapters but I don't want to do that until I finish the novel.

In one of the painting rooms.
Zhang Minghao was a handsome man with many artistic attainments, hence gaining the attention of many girls.
"Brother Hao, you draw such nice paintings," one of the cute girls who stood at the side said, her eyes filled with adoration.
Zhang Minghao calmly replied, "I guess it's still alright."
Some of the other surrounding boys stared at Zhang Minghao with much disdain. He liked to dress fancily and had no respect for anyone. At times, he would criticize the work of others, sometimes calling them worthless, causing them to be completely red with anger.
However, not only was he extremely good an artist, he was also adored by many of the teachers. Some say that Headmaster Hong was prepared to take him in as a student. After which, he would be a high-flyer, with a smooth-sailing career ahead of him. He was going to be on a different level from the others.
As for Headmaster Hong, they were filled with respect for him. He is a high ranking member of the Chinese Art Association and had once auctioned one of his paintings for more than 1.2 million dollars.
To be taken under him as his disciple was something the students could only dream about.
Zhang Minghao put down his brush and opened WeChat. He grinned. He didn't expect that his opinions would have gathered this much attention. It felt good. Yet he decided that he should show off for awhile.
"Did you all take part in the One Dollar Art sale?" Zhang Minghao asked.
The girl beside him replied, "I took part in it. I bought a piece."
The others nodded their heads, "We've all bought it. What's up?
Zhang Minghao laughed, "I wanted to tell you all that you all have been deceived. This One Dollar Art sale was out to scam you all. If you take a closer look at the paintings, some of the strokes used in the painting are strokes even I don't know. How would some little children know of them?"
Some retorted, "Just because you don't know them, doesn't mean that others won't know them!"
"That's right."
Zhang Minghao couldn't help but laugh, "Do you guys know the strokes?"
The public only knows how to buy these paintings. Why would they bother themselves with the technicalities of the painting?"
"You say that this is to scam people but what proof do you have to show that? What if it's real?"
"That's right!"

"No, I'm fine," Shouko lightly shook her head, "I'm sorry... I was thinking of something else. Did you say something, Teacher Shoda?"
Both Shouko and Teacher Shoda were on their way to the care home. After picking the retired teacher up from her home, they straightaway heading there. The smooth traffic helped to shorten their journey time.
"En, you're talking about setting up a scholarship fund, right? I'm sorry I got distracted," Shouko quickly apologized once again when she recalled back what they were talking about.
"Yes," Teacher Shoda didn't give the young lady a hard time as she smiled. She repeated what she had said earlier in patience, "We need to establish a budget first before we think of anything. Although our funds have never depleted or ceased in these four years, we have to create solid fundings to ensure the continuity of the scholarships."
As Shouko listened carefully to Teacher Shoda, she nodded thinking what the experienced teacher said was true. Since this matter would involve the future of the selected students, the continuous flow of funds was essential.
"Besides the ones who diligently provide funds to us, we could encourage other fundraising events too. Most of the orphanages under our foundation are used to these kinds of events. The ones we used to do are where the volunteers and children produce things and sell them for profits. All of the profits would go to charity."
"Then, what about how to select the scholarship holders?" Shouko gripped her chin as she was thinking, "Besides the ones for excellent students in school, I intend to establish a new one for children who have artistic talents."
"Your idea is good. We have to nurture them since young, if not, it'd be a waste," Teacher Shoda was clearly glad about the suggestion. She was enthusiastic when she added, "Some students excel academically, some do so in the art field or even sports. Each child is blessed with their own talents. They have to be nurtured differently. A monkey could easily climb a tree yet, it's totally impossible for a fish to do the same."
Shouko was easily amused by Teacher Shoda's choice of words as well as the comparison she used.
What the old teacher said was right. It was unfair to force a child who was weak in academics yet talented in sports to focus more on the former. There were various kinds of ways to help develop a child.
Unfortunately, children who lived in poor families, they didn't have the luxury to do so even though their parents wanted to further cultivate their talents.
"We've begun supporting three students for high school and university each, starting two years ago. All of them scored well in exams and academics competition. Two of them were the top scorers of the university entrance examinations in their respective provinces."
Teacher Shoda opened a document in her phone. It compiled the list of achievements the chosen students won throughout their schooling years. One of them even managed to win a prestigious science competition nationwide.
Shouko looked at the photo shown by Teacher Shoda. A timid looking girl was smiling at the camera with a certificate in hand. Despite how bashful she appeared, it didn't conceal the joy in her eyes.
A thought crossed her mind. What if this girl wasn't given an opportunity to expand her field of study? For sure, her joy would be replaced by dullness in her eyes.
"If we wanted to provide support for the children venturing in the art field, we need to set up a separate fund. As for how to determine who's chosen, that would need further discussion with the members of the foundation," continued Teacher Shoda.
Shouko carefully read another document displayed on the phone screen. This one was the proposal related to the scholarship aimed at students who got high marks in the university entrance examinations. 
"The scholarship covers their semester fees as well as accommodation fees. As for their meal cards, they'd be topped up monthly by the foundations. As long as their results maintain for each semester, they could go to school without any worries."
Shouko looked at the figures typed on the documents. It was the cost of supporting one university student. It was almost the same as what the top scorer in her department got when she was still studying before.
With this amount, as long as they didn't misspend the money, they could graduate without any financial constrain.
"I'll try searching for the scholarship related to the art field. It might be a bit different from this one," Shouko handed the phone back to Teacher Shoda. Her eyes were smiling as well as her lips when she happily announced, "We can't afford to help all children even if we wanted to, but let's do our best for whoever we could."
Teacher Shoda curled up her lips, her wrinkled old face softened at the sight of the young lady's fervor. 
"Yes! Let's give our best for them."
The car slowed down as they approached the care home. Once getting the acknowledgment from the security guard at the security post, they entered the yard of the care home. 
Like before, Shouko saw a group of children playing happily around the yard.
"They are so energetic. Are they getting healthier?" Shouko pointed out after greeting Director Shinohara who was waiting for their arrival.
"A few of the children caught colds. Those who are playing are the healthy ones," The older lady sighed as she smiled, her eyes were focused on the children, "Well, they would be called back in an hour. They still couldn't play outside for too long."
The three of them walked inside the hallway, heading to the dining room. Director Shinohara invited Shouko and Teacher Shoda directly for tea. The two guests didn't decline their host's good intentions.
"The children cherish the T-shirts they painted the other day. They've been urging me to hold another art class with an instructor next time. These little rascals, they really know how to have fun."
When Director Shinohara answered Shouko's inquiry about the children, she took a second to nag at them yet one could easily see the traces of care in her eyes as she spoke about them. 
"It is alright for you to deliberately come here to do storytelling to the children?" Director Shinohara asked as she poured the two ladies tea, "This place is quite far from the city, you know?"
"It helps me to get more inspirations, so I don't mind," Shouko lifted a plate of cookies and placed it in front of Teacher Shoda, "I asked Teacher Shoda to come so we could talk a bit about the plan to cultivate the children with artistic talents."
 "En, it sounds good but how to start it?" Director Shinohara looked at the two ladies opposite her.
Shouko didn't answer the question. She tilted her head and looked at Teacher Shoda who was more experienced in this matter.
"I've just thought of it. How about this? We start it simple first, like holding an art class once a week. Let the children fully immerse into it first and see who has the potentials," Teacher Shoda raised up the teacup, sipped the tea and placed it down back on the table, "Besides our main objective to pinpoint them, doing this helps to encourage creativity in children too."
"They could learn to express themselves. There would be opportunities for them to try new ideas and diversify their way of thinking. Either for children who have talents in arts or those who don't, both sides would reap in benefits."
"Do you mean, just let them frequently learn something new?" Shouko made a guess which Teacher Shoda reciprocated with a nod.
"Our main target is not finding the next Picasso," Teacher Shoda chuckled, "Expose them to arts and then if there are children who want to learn deeper and maybe join art courses in high schools and university, we would support them. So far, the already established scholarships only have students in science and finance majors. We have yet to have one in the art major."
Thinking about it, Shouko found it was agreeable.

The guest room was spacious. 
There wasn't a lot in it, just a set of couches, a table, and some art pieces on the wall done by the children. 
The Head pointed at one of the art pieces and introduced them to it. "Xia Ling drew this one."
Li Lei went forward and took a closer look. Done in crayon, it was a drawing of a flower field in spring. "It's pretty well done." He commended. "Very talented for a child."
Xia Ling side-eyed him. Realizing that he genuinely liked the art piece, she smiled a little. The art piece wasn't extraordinary. The orphanage couldn't afford to hire an art teacher for them and surely did not expect any of these children, who could barely secure three square meals a day, to be able to excel in art. Spending money on it would simply be a waste of resources. 
There was nothing very commendable about the art piece. 
But Li Lei wasn't commending her artistic skills. "She chose bright colors as she liked, and the way she put them together seems so carefree and abstract. It reminds me of Xia Ling's unique voice. I liked it the moment I saw it."
"She was a good girl." The Head said kindly with a tinge of nostalgia in his voice. 
A good girl who often created trouble, fought with others, and snatched candies for her sister? Xia Ling remembered herself as a problem child, someone who did not get along with the other children. She often argued with the Head when she asked him for money to treat her sister's illness. Some teachers even said that disciplining her was tougher than disciplining three other boys. 
The thought of these memories moved her. 
The Deputy Head and discipline master said, "Mr. Li, Miss Ye, welcome. Please take a seat and have some tea that we've brewed with homegrown tea leaves. We hope you can bear with the simplicity of this place and our hospitality."
Xia Ling remembered the tea shrub. When she was younger, the discipline master treasured it and took care of it as his precious. He kept saying that the orphanage could not afford to buy high-quality tea leaves, and could only grow their own to serve their honored guests. He also warned the children not to touch the shrub or damage it, because the funding they'd receive from others depended on this shrub. 
As Xia Ling took a sip of the tea, she tasted a little sweetness and bitterness. 
Li Lei took a sip as well and quickly said with a smile, "40-odd-year-old Longjing leaves? It's not bad at all." 
"Mr. Li is knowledgeable." The discipline master smiled. "Just about right. It's 45 years."
The atmosphere was getting better as the conversations came along, and soon, they began discussing the agenda for the day. Li Lei was here today with a long term plan, which was to provide funding for the children, as well as regular medical checkups, vaccinations, and distribution of study materials. More importantly, he set up a foundation that was set aside for the treatment of major illnesses, such that children who needed it could receive medical help.
The Head and the teachers at the orphanage were extremely grateful for their contribution. 
The photographers filmed the entire process and took a few group photos of them. 
In the photos, Xia Ling was in a simple dress and stood right in the center, alongside the Head. They held up the confirmation document for the donation and various contributions with wide smiles, showing the success and fruition of this process. On her other side was Li Lei, whose physique made her appear like a dainty little angel. 
He deliberately let her have the limelight. 
This way, when news went out, everybody would remember that it was Xia Ling who held up the document. They'd say that the celebrity Ye Xingling was a kind-hearted person. 
That was all he hoped for. 
After the donation had been made, Xia Ling asked to walk around in the orphanage. The Head was about to appoint somebody to guide them, but Xia Ling said, "It's alright, Li Lei and I will just take a look around on our own. The assistants and photographers don't have to come along with us. The teachers can also go about their own matters, we'll be fine on our own." 
Typically, the orphanage did not allow visitors to roam around in the premises without a teacher. 
But this time, the Head agreed to it. He had a very good impression of them since it was rare for any donor to consider the children's interests this thoroughly. Every year, there would be a number of organizations who would make their way down to donate funds or goods, but they usually did it for publicity purposes. They'd often get the children to witness the process and expect the children to thank them profusely. 
The children were all so young, it wasn't their fault that they were poor. 
Letting the children feel as if they were living off others would hurt their dignity over time. 
Xia Ling and Li Lei had taken this into consideration and did not want to call the children out to witness this. In fact, they even declined the Head's proposal of having some children welcome them with flowers at the entrance. "Let's not trouble them," Xia Ling had told Li Lei. "I was one of those who had to do that. I know the feeling."
Li Lei respected her wishes. 
At this point, the Head returned them the favor. "The both of you can take your time and walk around. Oh right, the 15th unit on the second floor was where little Xia Ling lived. The unit diagonally across, the 9th, was the medical ward that little Xia Yu occupied. Both areas have since been preserved for exhibition purposes, so you can take a look if you're interested."
Xia Ling thanked the Head and went ahead with Li Lei. 
Actually, Xia Ling would have taken Li Lei to look at where she lived even if the Head did not mention this. That was where she grew up. It was simple and minimalistic, but also a place of innocence. 
"Back then…" She showed Li Lei around and pointed places out to him. "I'd wake up every morning and rush to the canteen to snatch for a bun. There were limited numbers of meat buns, and if we went late, there'd only be vegetable buns left." 
Li Lei laughed. "Greedy little one." 
A few children were playing on the corridor and ran past both of them. 
Shadows of the iris flowers were cast on the ground.
Xia Ling said, "It was for Xia Yu. She used to be very fussy, and would only eat that little bit of meat filling in the buns every morning. So, I'd always snatch two buns and let her have the meat filling in both, while I ate the dough on the outside." In fact, Xia Ling never liked buns, what she liked was the tea leaf eggs they served in the canteen. But every child was only entitled to one food item for breakfast, hence, she'd always take the meat bun so that Xia Yu would get to eat more meat. In all those years, she never had the chance to have the eggs at all. 
Li Lei's heart ached for her. "In that case, I'll make meat buns for you every day." 
Xia Ling laughed. "Ginseng buns." 
"Alright, ginseng buns." Li Lei ruffled her hair. 
Xia Ling held onto his hand. She took a few steps with her head down before saying, "Actually, Xiao Yu doesn't like eating buns, either." 
"What?"
She took a few more steps forward to compose her emotions. It took a while before she went on. "Back then, I was only about seven years old, and I was a girl. The meat buns in the canteen were always snatched by the bigger boys. Even if the smaller children, or girls, managed to get it, they'd often be made to hand it over.
"I was hit countless times because of the buns I took. 
"Each time I got a meat bun, I'd speed to the dorm and lock the door hurriedly, only then was I safe. But I was often stopped midway when they caught up, and they'd hit me and snatch it from me… I'd be bruised and injured from trying to protect that bun…"


She died in her prime as the Queen of Song.

The drive to the gallery was filled with music and me getting lost in my thoughts of how it could look like, I only had to keep on reminding myself that what I'd see is beyond my imagination and I shouldn't sweat over it. But I was already sweating, I wiped my wet palms on my jeans and started wondering why I was sweating when the air conditioning was blasting in my face. 

"We're almost there," F.A.B announced breaking into my thoughts and I just gulped loud enough for her to hear and burst into laughter, I really feel anxious. 

We rounded a corner and my heart kept on beating fast...it went faster by each passing second...ART GALLERY. I closed my eyes to control my heart rate, pointless but a bit helpful. 

"Open up, we're here" I heard her say and I opened my eyes slowly only to see us in front of a duplex...the wall painting was of figurines and I could see statues lining up the walkway to the entrance of the gallery, my jaw could only drop, while my eyes were wide open...I think my heart skipped a beat. I'm in love with this place. 

Love? 

Whatever...this place is the real deal. 

We walked in and I looked at the floor...it wasn't of tiles...no! It was mosaic, coloured broken bottles were used to make beautiful designs of hearts, flowers and even the hope sign on the floor, I look up at the ceiling and I gasped as I saw patterns made up there too... 

Define love. 

Love is Art... 

We moved from section to section examining each art work on display, from statues to clay works to mosaics, to papier mâché before finally stopping at paintings...my safe haven. 

I took in a deep breath and walked down the hall into the section, the walls of the hallway were displaying African figurines telling the stories of a typical African Village, the stream, the children playing, wrestling competitions, heavy rain, children playing ball under the rain and splashing around in dirty puddles of water, children bathing at the stream and fetching water, mothers cooking in the cooking hut, people gathered around for festivals, people cheering their favorite wrestler, singers arousing the gods, maidens dancing to entice suitors. Elders conversing in a meeting, children gathered around the story teller sitting under the moon light to listen to the tales of Ijapa.

I didn't realize I was transfixed on a spot staring at the tales on the walls absorbing the reality of my origination and nationality, embracing the African Pride that I had deposited in me, enjoying the tales of Ijapa like I was one of the children seated under the moon light. I kept on looking at each figurine, I saw a herd of cattle as well as fruitful farmland. I kept on looking and I entered Nigeria, I saw the new yam festival...the òrò festival, the Fulani herdsmen, the fruitful farmlands and baskets of harvest, the poor infrastructures, the bombings, the killings, the human ritual, kidnaps, the collapsed buildings, the poor road networks...sigh...well, it's Nigeria. 

I walked into the section and took in the beautiful paintings in front of me, getting absorbed in the perfect blend of colours from oil to paint to poster to pencil even to sketches. Art is a celebration of culture, art is evoking the gods, art is getting lost in celebration, art is life. This is such a pleasant experience, I'm so elated. I walked and the deeper I got in the section, the deeper the meaning of each painting. 

Stories were told, of rejection, of divorce, of weather, of rain, of pain, of anger, of betrayal, of festivities, of gatherings, of joy and celebration, of plenty and little. Art is nativity. Art interprets and brings into the light. I am Art, art is in me, art runs through my veins...art is my passion. 

Beaming from ear to ear I followed F.A.B to the man who seems to run the gallery, with all introductions done, he asked for my paintings and I showed him, I could see the awe on his face as he looked at each one. 

"You're very talented." He remarked, 

"Thanks," it's the childhood trauma. And I successfully sold 5 of my paintings to him...I am definitely visiting this place next semester. 

We got back to the car and she drove us to an eatery, I still can't get the excitement off my face. 

"Thank you for today," I thanked her as we sat to eat. 

"Don't mention it, you seem to be someone who hasn't had joy for a while." 

"... true" 

"Do you want to talk about it?" 

"Not yet, I'm still broken about it" 

Really broken...one single event broke every glass of happiness in me, shattered every light bulb of hope and knocked the wind out of the figure of joy and love in me. So yes, I haven't changed at all. I'm still the broken girl that I was years ago when an unforgettable experience broke my childhood and stole it away.

My exam will last for two weeks and it's starting tomorrow, the only thing I'll have to do tomorrow is to ignore Gloom and dear chatterbox, and yes, Amber, did I forget Grace? I really can't wait till I'm out of this examination period, the air of tension is always so thick it could be cut with a chainsaw. The last time I saw Gloom, we had a quarrel, that has been going on for "ages." Sometimes I wish I had a friend to tell all of these crazy happenings in my life, but who will I confide in...how do I develop trust in someone without fear or without the person wanting to know that important and sensitive thing about me?
