I'm reading the raws and there are slight hints of romance way down the line, but no actual romance so far (as of chapter 465).
Really good so far. Probably my favorite novel of this type. No dumb harem or romance or face slapping. The characters act more like actual humans than in most chinese novels, where they're just exaggerated caricatures.
Brother, you cultivated for 500 years with a "better spirit root". If you were weaker than a few kids, you should probably just give up.
Bro's the mod of a group chat and already starting to act like a big shot.
Past chapter 40, the gender of the character distractingly flip-flops between "he" and "she" every other sentence. Even his damn name changes. Sometimes I'm not even sure who it's talking about, the text refers to the protagonist with 10 different names. Tian Wanquan, Zhu Wuyan, Zhu Wanhao, Zhu Wuyang, Zhu Wuwang, Zhu Wanquan, Zhu Wuan to name a few. How is that even possible? "Congratulations for being schemed against for the first time", after being schemed against 65 times. He's getting "first time" rewards for the same thing over and over again. It makes no sense. This novel is unreadable.
It's a slow start, but I absolutely love it. I couldn't find anything I actually liked for almost the entirety of 2024. Found this, can't stop reading it. The protagonist doesn't do much, the story relies on the adventures of the disciples, but the disciples are very strong. The world is cool, the cultivation system is different than in other cultivation novels and there's no harem or obnoxious romance (as of yet). Just a dude chilling and his disciples kicking ass. The only thing so far, I wish anybody wondered who these disciples' master is. They go to the inner domain, make everyone look like total noobs, defeat the strongest people, and nobody even wonders who they are or who their master is.
I really like it so far. During early chapters, I started to get a bit nervous that it was going to be just another 1 for 1 "Cultivation Bigshot" clone, but it went in another direction. It's a fresh take on the same base premise, and I love the premise so it's great for me.
It's a good and enjoyable premise but the school life aspect completely ruins it. I don't understand why it exists. It's just boring, overused cliche after cliche. Why? He's a damn stall vendor, there is absolutely 0 reason to involve school life into the story, yet the author decided to shoehorn it in. Baffling. From a cool, mysterious and quirky stall owner to a school dork story surrounded by teen drama.
The story tries to be way too serious, emotional and dramatic for a novel who's characters have no real depth. Even if the protagonist had an actual personality and humanity or any relatable aspect at all, it would still suck. It's a system novel where the protagonist has cheats. It's not f*cking Romeo and Juilet. It sucks any fun the novel could have provided and is not a suitable medium for the story the author is telling.Apart from that, there are things that make no sense. For example, the MC beats everyone that has taken a test in the history of Kunlun, and the masters go "Hmm. Not bad. It's not shocking but it's better than most." What? The entire sect was shocked, the person who said that was shocked 2 paragraphs earlier, and he is quite literally the best to have ever taken it, what are you talking about? This happens all the time.
i am giving it a 5 not because it's great, but because the reviews are overly harsh. As far as the "I'm Actually a Cultivaiton Bigshot" copies go, this is my favorite one, and I've read (and dropped) 4 others.
