Sad to see you go, but based on your paragraph comments I can see you're over analyzing. Not only is Jay just an 18-year-old kid who was made into a LITERAL GOD, but he's still trying to figure out what it all means. When we apply real world thinking like you have (which I encourage obviously, it's a major aspect of any novel) we get too wrapped up on the book itself. You're leaving out the fact that he doesn't know ANYTHING. His whole inspiration is to become whatever God means to him, disregarding (mostly) what he knew about the Christian/Catholic "God" from Earth. This is a fun, but equally important, duty for him to carry out. And only through trial and error can he learn what exactly being a Cosmic Entity means to him. This next part isn't meant to sound mean either, as I apply it to everyone, including myself, when I say that if we were put in Jay's position we'd be just as lost as him. Sure, we've read books about this type of situation, but nothing prepares us to ACTUALLY live it, meaning our critiques are just nitpicks that would be totally baseless if we filled Jay's shoes.
