the D stands for disease. and it in itself is a medical diagnosis
copd is a medical diagnosis. just like dementia it is a broad term but still a medical diagnosis. the D stands for disease, not disorder. there are many many different causes, so many that you cannot theoretically narrow it down to one cause unless it's black mold or agent orange. there are shitty doctors and nurses just like every other profession out there, in it for the money. but doesn't mean all of them are, even if the doctor can't tell you the cause they can treat your condition. In COPDs case, it's management of symptoms as there is no cure. in MC case he had a series acute on chronic situations where he could not get well, can be called acute on chronic exasperation or acute copd exasperation.
