Chapter 88: Naobito vs Mute(2)

" Indeed, I was trying to figure out a way to use my curse technique reversal on you however, I couldn't think of one but I do have an idea but that will come a little later in our battle, Naobito. "

Before Naobito could respond, the distance between him and Mute shrunk rapidly until a powerful punch slammed into his right eye socket. Naobito's head is flung back while blood leaks out of a cut above his eye. 

Naobito grits his teeth in pain before he lunges toward Mute throwing a palm. The palm grazes Mute's chest as he sways around the palm. Naobito twists his forearm slamming his palm onto Mute's chest. 

Naobito grins until a lightning-fast kick slams into his lower jaw launching him up into the air. As soon as Naobito flies up into the air, Mute's body is encased in glass. Before Naobito can trap Mute, Mute can land an attack on Naobito by using his innate technique. The glass around Mute starts to crack before it shatters and Mute walks out looking up into the sky. Naobito flips in the air before landing on his feet.

Naobito spits out blood before reaching into his white robe pulling out several daggers. Naobito places them between his fingers before in a swift motion he waves his hand forward flinging the daggers at Mute. 

The daggers twirl through the air before they are frozen in the air. Mute stares at the daggers before they glow a bright yellow and explode causing a thick smoke cloud to pour over Mute covering his vision. 

Mute covers his face from the smoke before in the corner of his right eye, he sees the smoke moving oddly. Mute spins throwing a kick at the oddly moving smoke. However, his leg passes through the smoke hitting nothing. Mute eyes widen before he spins around blocking a high kick from Naobito. 

Naobito smacks his lips before he slams his leg back on the ground and starts to throw a violent array of punches and kicks. Mute ducks and pivots out of the way of the attacks until he dashes out of the smoke cloud coming to a sliding stop before ducking under a kick from Naobito who appears behind. 

Mute locks eyes with Naobito before he grins and twirls dodging a kick. Mute gets behind Naobito and then throws a swift kick that slams into the back of Naobito's knee dislocating his aged knee. Naobito grits his teeth in pain before wobbling forward and falling onto the ground face first.

Naobito pushes off the ground before rolling out of the way of a stomp while holding onto his knee with both hands. Naobito pulls his knee back snapping it back into place before pushing off the ground and flipping onto his feet. Naobito lands on his feet while crossing his arm blocking a powerful punch from Mute.

Naobito's body is propelled back coming to a grinding stop a few feet away from Mute. Naobito's old body starts to shake in pain while he lets out a chuckle. Mute stares at Naobito the laughing Mute until he speaks. 

" If only, Null didn't go on that suicide mission. And we still had some type of control over you. We probably could have killed Gojo in a few years. But your sister's ego got in the way of yours and her purpose. She wanted to be the one to kill Gojo that's why she took the mission to kill Shoko. "

Mute stares at Naobito uninterested before his body flickers appearing directly in front of Naobito while a strong punch slams into the bridge of Naobito's nose propelling him through the air. Naobito's eyes become hazy while he slams into a tree, stumbling forward until another punch slams into his nose busting it.

Naobito propels back into the tree before Mute throws a barrage of attacks into his body causing blood to pour out of his mouth while bruises cover his wrinkled aged body. Mute's right leg blurs before a powerful kick slams into Naobito's chest making him fly back crashing through the tree. 

Naobito rolls on the ground before he rolls onto his knees. He tries to catch his breath but a kick slams into the back of his head sending his bloody face crashing onto the grass. Naobito lies on the ground until a stomp slams into his back. 

Naobito grits his teeth in pain while Mute repeatedly slams his foot into Naobito's body. Naobito's eyes are hazy and barely conscious, Naobito lays there defeated until Mute grabs onto his white hair pulling him off the ground, Naobito dangles while Mute holds him up by his hair. Mute stares at the bloody Naobito before scoffing. 

Naobito dangles there before with a sudden burst of energy, he throws a punch at Mute. Naobito travels through the air until a narrow piece of string passes by Naobito's face slicing his arm cleanly off. Blood spews out of Naobito's missing arm.

Naobito's eyes widen in shock before Mute pushes his head back making Naobito stumble back before Mute spins slamming a roundhouse kick into Naobito's chin making a loud crack ripple through the dark forest. Naobito's head twists doing a 180 like an owl. Naobito stares behind him with blood pouring out of his mouth. 

Before a powerful kick slams into Naobito's stomach launching him onto the ground back first. Naobito stares at the grass while Mute's ominous footsteps slowly walk towards him. Naobito's eyes become hazy as his life slowly leaves his body. Naobito's eyes become more blurry until suddenly his vision becomes clear. 

Naobito stares at the bloody grass in front of him confused until he feels someone tightly grab onto his forearm before yanking his arm to the side, snapping it. Naobito feels sharp pain rippling through his body while he hears evil laughter above him. Naobito stares there in shock before he feels Mute grab onto the side of his head before twisting his head back into place. 

Naobito stares at Mute who is grinning at him wildly. Mute slams his foot into Naobito's face splitting open his chin. Blood covers the bottom of Mute's shoes while he repeatedly stomps on Naobito's face. Mute keeps on stomping on Naobito's face before he crazily speaks.

" You know, I'm glad. I'm glad. Really am. That my technique reversal is this. You see I was planning on killing you easily because you know you're a first grade and I wasn't going to take you lightly and all, but let me explain to you why I am so glad. "

Naobito stares at the crazed Mute while his face is repeatedly stomped on. Mute lets out a cruel chuckle before speaking. 

" My technique reversal is stagnation, in short terms. I can slow down or even stop all natural things depending on the thing I'm trying to stop. Of course, I can't stop the sun or something insane like that but I can stop rain, snow, and even death. You see why I'm glad. I can keep you alive while I repeatedly brutalize your body. I'm going to pay you back for all the years of torture you made my sister give me. "

Naobito stares up at Mute horrified while Mute stomps onto his knee breaking it...

Back in Shinjuku. Night has covered the city. But still, the celebration of winning the war was still happening. Hundreds of sorcerers could be seen drinking. Expect one who was staring at the bright full moon with his arms crossed.

Nanami was leaning on a brick wall with a serious look on his face. He kept staring at the full moon until someone spoke his name.

" Nanami-sama you should really relax, the war is over. "

Says a young black-haired woman wearing a suit. Nanami glances at the woman before he takes a deep breath. And relaxes his shoulders, Nanami nods before speaking.

" You're right, Qeru, I need to relax- "

Before Nanami could finish his sentence his eyes widened seeing a woman sprinting across rooftops leaping from one to another...

A few minutes later the sound of quiet laughter could be heard echoing throughout a dark forest. Mute looks down at Naobito's head. Naobito's entire body is destroyed. Naobito is now only a head but he's still alive. Naobito stares up at Mute in shock.

Mute's face and cloak are covered in Naobito's blood. Mute takes a deep breath before he snaps his finger and Naobito's eyes become blank dying a cruel death. Mute keeps taking deep breaths before he abruptly snaps his head right and stares at a tree branch.

Standing on the tree branch was Mei Mei with her axe over her shoulder. Mute stares at Mei Mei before he grins...

Hello, the author here. The reason I'm writing a message at the end of this chapter is to explain Mute's curse reversal a bit better. I couldn't find a place to fully explain it in this chapter without it filling out of place. And I guess writing a note at the end of the chapter makes it more out of place but still let me explain it better so you all aren't confused.

Mute's technique "Stagnate" obviously stops or slows natural events through nature. As it was explained in this chapter. However, to use Stagnate Mute must be the main factor of the event he's trying to stop. For instance, to freeze falling rain. He must first stop a rain droplet using his normal cursed technique before he uses his cursed reversal to stop all of the other rain. 

So, Mute can't just stagnate someone's life making them instantly die without either killing them previously or stagnating their healing making them bleed out. However, Mute doesn't need to use his normal cursed energy to use stagnate. If he picks a flower out of the ground using his hand, he can keep the flower alive by just using his cursed reversal due to him being the main factor in making the flower die.
