Kyokou Kazeharu laying down at his bed, tired of his life.

"When will my life end."

I said to myself and sat up.

Kyokou Kazeharu, a 14 year old high-schooler too burnt up with his life to do anything else he wants to do.

"Kyokou… Kyokouu! Hurry up and get ready! You will be late!"

A woman from downstairs called onto me with a worried tone, it was my mother. I sighed exhausted and quickly readied up.

I leave my room wearing a formal grey suit, I go downstairs and met my mother wearing a dress.

"We need to hurry up! You will be late in your piano competition!"

My mother said in a worried voice not wanting to miss the competition.

Me and my mother were on our way to the venue, I gazed at the street from our car. We arrived at the venue and met the other contestants.

"Remember your lessons. You better not mess up!"

My mother said in a serious tone, wishing me good luck and that I should better not embarrass myself on-stage.

The audience clapped, the competition has already started.

"Next contestant, Kazeharu Kyokou!"

It was my turn to play, I tidied my neck tie, I messed around with the keys first playing random but harmonic notes, simple yet catchy, I noticed my mother glancing at me with serious eyes, it was time for me to play seriously.

I stopped playing for a couple seconds, I heard the audience talking to each other why I stopped, I suddenly played "Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement" by Ludwig van Beethoven, as requested by my mother.

Each note I pressed were perfect, the timing was perfect as well, the spectators were in awe of how I could play it perfectly.

Such a fast tempo song, yet he played perfectly. As expected, I was in first place, again. Me and my mother were on the way home, I was carrying the trophy in the car.

"Good job."

My mother said to me, she only praised me once. Both of us got home in the evening. My mother placed my trophy on my collection. There, I have many 1st place trophies in my piano competition. There were no 2nd and 3rd place trophies to be found in my collection.

I sighed loudly as I knew that I have a violin tournament tomorrow. It was already time for my part-time job.

"I have a tournament tomorrow… I still have a part-time job to go to… and I do not have time to review for my finals tomorrow…"

I said to himself while staring blankly at the floor

"Please, kill me! I want a hot girl to suffocate me with their legs and kill me!"

Kyokou shouted as he noticed his parent's absence.

I went outside and laid down lifelessly in their backyard stargazing. I skipped my part-time job for the first time.

"I want to run away."

I said to myself, suddenly a black cat jumped onto my stomach and made itself comfortable, the cat was thin as a toothpick. I pitied the cat and decided to pet it.

"Stay here, I'll give you some food."

I went back to his backyard and called the cat while holding a bowl of raw salmon.

"Kitty, where are you? I brought some food."

I placed the bowl down and the cat ran over to eat on the bowl.

"Such tasty food, many days have I not eaten! You, kid. You have my gratitude for feeding me this magical food!"

An unknown voice said with a high-pitched tone almost like a girl's voice, I looked at my surroundings looking for the one who speaked, I must be hallucinating.

"Down here kid!"

I saw the cat talking, I am hallucinating!

"How tired am I to hallucinate a cat talking…"

I said out loud

"I am indeed real, the realest I can get!"

The cat responded, I was speechless, I was shocked to respond even further.

"Ahem! I am Nekokami! For showing your gratitude towards me, I am granting you 3 wishes!"

Nekokami said to me .

"Really? Then I wish for a million yen."

I said sarcastically without any hesitation. Suddenly, a stack of 1,000,000¥ appeared in my lap, it was indeed real. I was in shock, I wished without any hesitation regretting it, I did not think clearly. I'm not going to use my wishes again…

"Done!"

Nekokami said.

"From now on, you will be my master and I will be your companion. Protect me at all cost."

I was confused on why I was favoured to protect Nekokami, but I puts my confusion aside and decided to take Nekokami in.
