011 A favour

Annie was taking a nap, though not very soundly. After having lunch with Alexander, he had sent her off to take a nap, treating her like he would a cat, then left himself, leaving Annie feeling somewhat unsettled due to the morning's events. She tossed and turned, her mind filled with those thoughts, unable to fall into a peaceful sleep.

At that moment, the doorbell rang, followed by a melodious female voice: "Room service!"

Annie remembered that she hadn't requested any room service. Could it be something Alexander had ordered?! She recognized the voice as the same from previous room service visits. Without much thought, she sat up, pulled the covers to slightly cover herself, and reached to press a knob on the bedside table, causing the door to open automatically. Unexpectedly, not only the female service staff entered, but also two people Annie really didn't want to see - Peter and Andrew, a father and son!

Feeling a bit flustered, Annie clutched the covers with her small hands, unintentionally pulling them up. The female service staff looked embarrassed and awkward, forcing a strained smile as she stood there.

Peter immediately spoke up, "Miss Cooke, don't be afraid. I've brought my son here to apologize to you!"

Annie didn't relax at that, keeping her eyes open, watching them both warily.

Peter glanced at Andrew, and Andrew immediately understood, stepping forward and facing Annie with a serious expression, bowing deeply at a ninety-degree angle, sounding genuinely apologetic, "Annie, I'm sorry. I took some pills this morning, and my head started spinning. I don't know what happened, and I was confused when I did that to you. I felt regretful and sorry as soon as I came to my senses, so I came here to apologize to you!"

To salvage the situation, to prove his innocence, Andrew didn't hesitate to undermine himself, using "taking medicine" as an excuse.

Annie had some understanding of "taking pills," but was somewhat uncertain about what Andrew said, whether it was true or false.

Peter also stepped forward, his old face filled with shame, "Miss Cooke, Ash did something foolish today and offended you. I feel embarrassed as a father, representing my son. However, I hope you can forgive Andrew for my sake as his father!"

Father was a sensitive term! Annie looked at the father and son standing in front of her and then deeply glanced at Peter's old face a few times, feeling a bit softened, nodding her head.

"Well, I forgive you!"

Andrew was pleased, and Peter was somewhat surprised, never expecting things to go so smoothly. Truly, she was still an inexperienced young girl!

Peter hurriedly thanked her. "Thank you, thank you... I am really grateful. Then... about the business matter?"

What about the business?! Annie frowned; she didn't understand business matters. But Peter came for this.

Seeing Annie's confused expression, he explained, "It's like this, Ash's offense against you this morning made Mr. Gwilliam angry and cancelled our business negotiations. I don't mind much, but I'm worried about the three thousand employees in my company! Without this business deal, how will I pay their salaries? If they don't get paid, how will they support their families? When I think about those employees' families, some might struggle even to afford milk for their children, I feel distressed and uneasy. The failure of this business deal because of Andrew's actions, I, as a father, am also responsible. So, I'm shamelessly asking Miss Cooke here to speak a few good words in front of Mr. Gwilliam, to give me another chance. I promise not to let Mr. Gwilliam down!"

Peter was indeed a sly old fox, with his moving words making Annie's eyes teary. As soon as he mentioned children not affording milk, Annie felt uneasy.

"I... I want to help, but... Alexander, he... seems unlikely to listen to me!"

She was just someone to accompany, really with little weight.

But hearing these words, Peter seemed energized, eagerly saying, "It's okay, it's okay, Miss Cooke , you just need to try. On behalf of the three thousand employees and their families in my company, I thank you in advance!"

After saying that, Peter also bowed deeply at a ninety-degree angle to Annie! This made Annie feel trapped!

After these people left, Annie bit her lip, curling up in the blanket, truly caught between a rock and a hard place! Thinking about telling Alexander about this, she felt her heart trembling! What if Alexander didn't agree?! How would she explain to Andrew's father?! How would those poor employees' families survive?!

"What to do... what to do..."

Annie started to worry!

It's over!

Alexander definitely wouldn't agree to her!

She wasn't anyone to him, how could he possibly agree to her?!
