The Hunt!

" You better tell me in the next five seconds what happened to my little sister!"

Kai ordered Dick as he held the man against the wall.

" It was during the charity event with, Flash. The earth was attacked by an intergalactic invader, named Mongul. You know the giant ship that came into the sky. You were busy with the event. So, we sent in a team to stop them. They were successful in taking down Mongul, but they were captured. And I believed Blue beetle was responsible."

Dick explained to the man.

" And you waited until now to tell me?!"

Kai asked the man in anger.

" I knew you would act like this! I couldn't risk you running off headfirst into danger, without a plan."

Dick explained to the man.

Kai glared at Dick in anger before releasing the man.

" Okay, so genius, what's the plan?"

Kai asked the man.

" You, me, and Megan are going to go back to the war world and scan the place for clues. Maybe we'll be able to find them, maybe we'll find a clue on where they are. Either way we're getting them back."

Dick explained to the man.

" Damn right we will. Because if we don't, I swear I will tear every single one of them to pieces."

Kai exclaimed before walking away from the man, before walking away.

Kai stormed out of the teams temporary Headquarters and flew straight home.

" Kai? What are you doing home so early?"

Donna asked the man as he walked into the home. However, upon seeing the anger on Kai's face, Donna knew something was wrong.

" Kai? What happened?"

Donna asked the man in concern.

" Cassie and the team got captured. Dick, thinks Blue Beetle did it."

Kai explained to the woman.

" What?!"

Donna yelled as she got to her feet.

" When did this happen?"

Donna asked the man.

" During the charity event. Or at least that's what dick told me."

Kai explained to the woman.

" Dick? You mean Dick knew and didn't tell you?"

Donna asked in anger.

" That's not all Donna. I forgot to tell you, but apparently Artemis is alive and Kaldur isn't a traitor."

Kai continued explaining.

" What do you mean? You saw her body."

Donna asked the man again.

" It was all a lie. Kaldur is on a deep cover mission working for the light. And Artemis, well, she's masquerading as Tigress. Kaldur's second in command."

Kai told the woman who sat and listened in shock.

" How do you know this? I mean where did you learn this?"

Donna asked.

" Dick told me, Lagaan, and Connor. Apparently, He, Wally, Artemis, and Kaldur were the only ones who knew."

Kai finished telling the woman everything he had learned from Dick.

" How could they do that? We mourned Artemis. And Cassie, god Cassie."

The reality of the situation setting in, Donna collapsed on her coach.

Kai walked over to the girl and sat down next to her, pulling her into a gentle embrace as he kissed the side of her head.

" I'm going to get her back, Donna. I promise."

Kai said to the woman as he got to his feet.

" There's no need to worry. I just wanted you to know what was going on. I'm about to head to the war world and I'm getting our people back. Safe!"

Kai exclaimed to the girl.

" I believe you. Just be careful, Kai."

Donna said to the man as she got to her feet once again.

Kai wrapped his arms around Donna's waist and placed a gentle kiss on her lips before walking towards the door once again. As he reached the door, he turned around one more time and smiled at Donna to let her know everything was going to be alright before heading back out to get his team.

" Anything, Megan?"

Kai asked the woman as she scanned the giant station for the team's minds.

" No, I'm sorry. I can't sense any of them. But the War world is so big, they could easily be out of range."

Megan explained to the man.

" We've been flying the surface squid path for hours and you're exhausted."

Kai explained to the woman.

" I'm fine! I can do this!"

Megan exclaimed.

" Of course! But there's no need to overtax yourself so soon after your kidnapping. besides we're not giving up. We'll start over where the team first disappeared. Look for a new lead."

Night wing explained to the woman.

" He's right."

Kai added on.

" Okay. If you think it best."

Megan said to the two men. She took control of the Bioship and flew it into the War worlds main chambers. The trio landed the ship and made their way through the hangar of the war world, searching for any clue on the team's disappearance.

" Haven't you already scanned every inch of this place?"

Megan asked as Dick scanned the room again for clues.

" Yeah, but it's clear I'm obviously capable of missing obvious clues. I totally should have spotted evidence of Blue Beetles defection after Green Beetle fixed his scarab."

Dick said to the woman in slight anger of his blunder.

" Look it's my fault. You asked me to scan Green's mind and I vouched for him without delving deep. I was so afraid to use my powers after what I did to aqualad, I allowed green beetle and his scarab to feed me exactly what the reach wanted us to believe. So, Blue trusted Green and was turned by him and somehow abducted the team. All on me."

Megan explained to the two men.

" Except you never would have been in that position had I entrusted you with Aqualad's deep cover mission. I put you, Aqualad, Artemis, the whole team in unacceptable danger."

Dick said to the woman in an attempt to deflect the guilt onto himself.

" Enough! You guys can wallow in your guilt all you want. But after we find the team."

Kai said to the two, still in anger over Nightwing's recent actions.

" He's right. This is both of our mistakes. We need to get over ourselves. Save the team then save Blue. And as a certain thirteen-year-old was fond of saying. That's just what we do."

Megan said to dick in agreement with Kai's harsh, but true words.

Kai looked back at the two and remembered the days of their youth.

' Everything seemed so much simpler then. And now look at us. We're keeping secrets, fighting with each other, and struggling to keep the world safe. Maybe it is time I hang up the boots.'

Kai thought to himself.

However, Kai and the others were soon drawn from their moments as a heavy object banged on the walls behind them. The three heroes readied themselves to fight but when the doors opened in came rolling their friend, sphere.

" SPHERE!"

Megan yelled as she and the others hugged the small orb in excitement.

" Can you take us to Wondergirl and the others?"

Kai asked.

" Rhmm Rhmm!"

Sphere roared its engine and transformed into its bike mode.

" I think that's a yes."

Dick exclaimed.

Kai and the others quickly hopped on the bike and took off towards the place the others were being held.

' Don't worry, Cass! I'm coming to get you.'

Kai thought to himself as he flew through the war world.

" Troops dead ahead.

Dick called out.

" EKIRTS YM SEIMENE NWOD!"

Kai's eyes erupted with lighting as he chanted his spell. A raging wave of lightning shot out of his hands and easily dispatched the enemy troopers.

Kai jumped off of sphere and rushed the door in front of him and punched through it. He then ripped the door apart and to his surprise the team plus a group of new kids were already freed.

" WONDER GIRL!"

Kai called out the girl's name.

" Sen. UGH!"

Cassie was getting ready to answer the man when he suddenly scooped her up into his arms and hugged her tightly.

" It's good to see you two, bro. Now, stop squeezing so hard. You're embarrassing me."

Cassie said to the man who only laughed at her statement.

" Everyone safe?"

Dick asked

" For now."

Aresenal replied.

" The crystal key?"

Dick asked.

" Gone! And we better get gone too before one of them declares a winner!"

Arsenal said to the man as he watched Black Beetle and Mongul fighting in the back ground.

" Move out. Everyone!"

Kai said as he turned his back to the group.

" What about you?"

Dick asked the man.

" I'll follow you from behind and make sure one of them doesn't follow us. Now go!"

Kai yelled to the man.

Dick nodded and led the injured team back to the ship while Kai watched the two men fighting.

' Tsalb Black Kclab elteeb ni sih ecaf!'

Kai chanted to his self as he set up a trap spell for black beetle should he try to follow them.

' A gift from me to you. Choke on it.'

Kai thought to himself as he turned to join the others. He raced down the halls and arrived with the team as they were boarding the ship.

" Look before we leave, we need to talk about Blue Beetle. He betrayed us."

Kai heard arsenal say to Dick.

" Look who's talking. Last thing I remember is you blowing an airlock without warning. Nearly got us all killed and absolutely guaranteed our capture."

Bumblebee called Arsenal out on his hypocrisy.

Having heard this both Kai and Dick grew angry with the young man.

" Hey, after eight years on ice, no way I was getting grabbed again. And in case you haven't noticed my escape resulted in you being free now to stand here and complain. So, how about a thank you?"

Arsenal explained to the woman as he got in her face.

" You're right, Arsenal. Thank you. And after we get back to earth, you're off the team."

Dick said to the young boy.

" Whoa Wait a minute!"

Ty spoke up in confusion.

" If it wasn't for Arsenal, we wouldn't have rescued anyone."

Vergil explained in the boy's defense.

" That may be. But this isn't the first time he's pulled this kind of stunt. Intentionally endangering the lives of his teammates in order to further his own agenda or guard against his own personal demons. It's unacceptable. So, until you prove yourself a team player you have no place on this team."

Dick explained to the young kids.

" We need to get out of here. We can discuss more of this once we're back safely on earth. And Arsenal we are going to make sure nothing like this happens again."

Kai said to the group before speaking to the young arrow sternly.

The group of kids all looked at each other before speaking again.

" Sounds like there's nothing left to discuss."

El dorado said to the man.

" See we don't need your help getting back to earth or your offer to join the team. We have our own way of doing things."

Vergil explained to the man.

" What do you say bro? Wanna ride with us?"

El dorado asked Arsenal.

" Sounds like a plan."

Arsenal replied as he stood with the group.

The young girl of the group pulled out a device both Kai and Dick recognized.

" Wait is that?"

Dick was in the middle of asking.

" A fatherbox!"

Kai exclaimed.

" Home please."

The girl said to the father box and below the group a boom tube opened up taking the kids somewhere on earth they called home.

" That's not good. We really need to get back to earth."

Kai said to the others sternly before boarding the ship home.
