Chapter 15

-[Dante]-

The waves of anger wafting off Superboy was palpable to all the telepaths in the room. It was like a giant tsunami of anger.

The reason for this anger was very simple. His earlier statement had been proved wrong, very wrong.

Currently, the clone laid flat on the floor flat on his back. There was a small holographic beside him that angered him even more.

{SUPERBOY STATUS: FAIL}

It wasn't the first or second time he was on his back. It was the fourth, apparently not taking the fact that he didn't last as long as Dante very well.

He pushed himself to his feet, Dinah staring at him as he got up.

"Like I said, control your anger an-" she was interrupted as he charged towards her with a punch.

With practiced ease, she jumped, using his shoulders to flip over him and landing behind him. Superboy swung the back of his fist behind him but Dinah was already below it, sweeping his feet from under him.

His reactions got a flinch from M'gann and a worried look from Kaldur. Robin on the other hand was muffling his laughs while Dante and Wally watched the 'fight' with frowns.

"That's it! I'm done!" Superboy growled, slapping away Dinah's outstretched hand as he stood up on his own, turning to leave.

"Training is mandatory." She said, firmly but softly, placing a hand on his shoulder only for him to shrug it off, rage visible in his eyes.

Before it could escalate further, an alert rang from the cave's systems. A screen appeared and widened to reveal Batman's face.

"Batman to the cave." He called out, getting everyone's attention. "Five hours ago, a menace attacked Green Arrow and Black Canary. The attacker was capable of studying then duplicating the powers and abilities of its opponents."

A smaller screen popped up, showing said attacker manhandling the league and using Superman as a rag doll.

"Arrow called reinforcements which nearly proved disastrous as our foe gained more and more power with each new combatant.

"Whoa. One guy with the powers of the entire league?" The disbelief in Wally's voice was clear, Kaldur's face forming a worried expression. The other members of the team were just as shocked.

"In the end, it took eight Leaguers four hours to defeat and dismantle the android." Batman added, catching Robin's attention.

"An android? Who built it, T.O. Morrow?" Robin asked, showing his knowledge of possible suspects.

"Good guess, Robin. Red Tornado doesn't think so." Batman said.

"The technology bears the signature of Professor Ivo." Manhunter revealed, a shocked look appearing on Kaldur's face.

"Ivo? But Ivo's dead." The Atlantean questioned.

"So we all thought…or hoped." Dinah said, looking over her shoulder to them.

"To make certain this threat is permanently neutralized, we're sending two trucks carrying the Android's parts to two separate STAR Labs facilities in Boston and New York for evaluation." Batman continued, a map appearing which showed the locations of the two labs.

"Every precaution is being taken. We'll have four additional decoy trucks to create confusion in case Ivo or anyone tries to recover the remains. You will split up into undercover teams to safeguard the two real trucks." The dark knight said, causing Wally to get excited.

"Yes! Road trip." His excitement drew a scolding look from Dinah.

"So now we take out your trash?" Superboy questioned angrily.

"You had something better to do?" Batman counters bluntly, causing the clone to look away just as Dante's receiver went off.

"Coordinates received." Dante said, speaking for the first time since the beginning of the briefing. He had nothing to add so there was no use in speaking.

As the team quickly rushed to get moving, Dante noted Dinah stopping Superboy for a moment.

-[Later]-

-[Litchfield County]-

Had he not known how to ride a motorcycle, he would've been worried. Cadmus had done a pretty good job on general education. Unlike the others who had brighter colors, his motorcycle was simply black.

With the helmet on, he waited for the signal that would mark the beginning of the mission.

"STAR Boston is a go." One of the guards said through the comms.

"STAR Manhattan is go." Green Arrow added after that, looking to Batman who nodded and signaled for the trucks to begin moving.

As the trucks split in opposite directions, the team drove out of the cover of the bushes, also splitting into two teams.

Aqualad, Miss Martian and Kid Flash followed the first truck while Dante, Superboy and Robin followed the other in the opposite direction.

"If dislike is the opposite of like, is disaster the opposite of aster? See, instead of things going wrong, they go right." Robin asked in an attempt to make conversation.

"Must you butcher the English language? It's already complicated enough." Dante retorted in exasperation.

"Not nearly enough. What's wrong Superboy? Not feeling the aster?" Robin asked.

"Canary." He wastes no time in answering. "What business does she have teaching combat skills to a guy with super strength?"

Robin worriedly looked at Dante who spoke to answer the question. "Because it's not useful if you can't hit your opponent. What's the point of super strength if your opponent knocks you out before you can use it?"

Other than the narrowing of his eyes, Dante was calm while speaking. Instead of responding, Superboy revved his motorcycle, speeding up to get closer to the truck, leaving Robin and Dante behind him.

"So he's not feeling the aster." Robin muttered, cackling from the dry stare he was getting from Dante for his rather liberal use of english.

Suddenly, green and grey monkey robots jumped out of the cornfields around them and latched onto the truck, letting out creepy laughs as they did so.

"Aqualad, status." He questioned through their communicators as he prepared his telekinesis.

"Our truck is under attack!" The atlantean reported.

"Robot monkey. Totally Ivo's style!" Robin exclaimed with a laugh as he hit the small screen on the motorcycle.

The vehicle's back wheel disengaged, turning into a flying drone. Doing the same, Dante's telekinesis sprung to action, tearing off a few of the robots.

Superboy suddenly leaped off his bike, letting it lose balance and tumble backwards. Before it could crash into Robin, an invisible force blasted it away.

Dante tapped another button on the bike, putting it on autopilot as he flew off it and above the truck.

With a gesture, the robot monkeys were suspended in the air before a powerful force crushed them into pieces.

He flew to the front of the truck, telekinetically pulling the robots from the screen, smashing them together and destroying them. Heading back to the top of the truck, he saw Superboy rip one of the robots in half.

More of the robots latched on Superboy only for the clone to shake them off. Dante busied himself as more robots flew out of the cornfield.

One of the robots tried to fly to the front of the truck only for a force to squash its head in a show of sparks.

Another of the robot monkeys was about to laser Superboy only for one of Robin's disks to fly into it, blowing it up.

Dante swept his hand in front of him, pushing all the robots back a few meters. Before they could return, he clapped his palms together as his telekinesis violently slammed all of them together at one point.

"Robin, how's the back?" Dante asked lightly as more robots flew out of the cornfield.

"I am not feeling the aster. There's no end to these things!" The boy exclaimed as some of the robots went for the back of the truck.

Superboy grabbed two of the robots, smashing them together as a decent number of them flew to flock around him.

Before the clone knew it, he was lifted off the truck and into the air. As the robot released him to fall, Dante's telekinesis took hold of him, pulling him back to the top of the truck.

As soon as that was done, Dante focused on the robots that swarmed towards him. One of them fired a laser from its eyes only for it to stop inches before him.

Twisting his arm in the direction of the robots, a creaking sound was heard followed by mini explosions as a telekinetic force warped the robots, twisting them in place and destroying them.

He pulled one of them that attempted to sneak up on him towards his hand, squashing its head as he grabbed hold of it. He just barely noticed one of the robots flying towards the tires only to receive an exploding disk for all its troubles.

Suddenly, Kaldur's voice came through the communicator. "We just lost our cargo. Did you-"

"We're kinda busy defending ours. Jeez, how many are there?!" Robin answered.

He heard a scream from Superboy only to see one of the robots laser the half Kryptonian's eyes, forcing it shut.

Superboy, this time, slammed his palms together, a shockwave occurring that pushed back the robots. Dante pulled those robots together, using the amalgamation of metal to smash into the other robots.

Sending the metal ball crashing into another robot, he paused, waiting for more to show up. They waited for a while only for no more robots to pop up.

"Looks like that's over." Robin said with a slight pant. "What do we do now?"

After making sure that no more were incoming, Dante flattened the metal into a rough sheet before tossing it away. Superboy was still rubbing his eye from the laser that he was shot with earlier.

"The mission isn't complete unless both parts reach their destination. Since we haven't heard anything from the decoy trucks, it's safe to assume that the monkeys had a way of tracking the part." He levitated a deactivated robot monkey before walking to the edge of the truck, tossing it to Robin who was still on his bike.

"I saved you one." Dante said as the boy wonder pulled out a cable from his wrist computer, plugging it onto the port inside the monkey robot.

"You're a genius!" Robin said moments later as a map opened up above his wrist. "The monkeys can track the parts and I can track them with this."

"Aqualad, Kid Flash and Miss Martian. Robin will direct you and monitor where the parts are going. You three go and retrieve those parts."
