He heard his friend laughing.
"How about you? Your sister Nicola told me that you're busy chasing another woman?"
"Oh," Alexandro's reaction was sullenly sad. "She's not another woman. She's the woman I've wanted ever since. She was my girlfriend before Mich…."
"Okay. You got the woman back then?"
"Sadly, no. When I found my ex in New York, she turned down my marriage proposal. I wished I had eloped with her when she was my girlfriend, but I disappointed her. Too late to realize it…."
"That serious?"
"You could say that… I was heartbroken for a while. That's why you didn't hear from me."
