CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN

After negotiating my payment with grandfather, which was actually much more beneficial on my end, but on his end, not so much but having his beloved son released from prison is apparently more important to him than anything else.

I changed into a business suit, aware that my beloved wife is not in our bedroom but I didn't have the time to locate her because it could ensue into another argument and I need to be in court when Clyde Daniel makes his first appearance.

Justin and Bob tagged along with me while two security vehicles followed at a distance.

Clyde was enraged to see me appearing as a legal counsel, which totally amused me, since I didn't care to represent the motherf**ker in the first place, but I've a deal with the devil and need to stick with it, because that's how I work.

Today's session didn't go well for Clyde and it's all his fault, but I'm not disappointed with the a**hole remaining behind bars and grandfather's men are off our radar, but that would mean, my having to visit and inform him that I've been hired to represent him by his beloved father.

"Logan Daniels" I heard someone chuckle my name from behind and spun around to see Judge Delany making quick strides towards me, balancing a briefcase and her handbag that seems overpacked.

"Good afternoon," I greeted, pointing to the heavy load she's carrying, "can I help you with that?" I offered politely and without answering, she hands me her briefcase smiling her appreciation, with a deep sigh.

"Office?" I asked slowing down to match her shorter steps.

Shaking her head, "no, my car," she says, nodding to the side entrance which leads to the staff car park.

When we arrive at her vehicle, she looks at me from the side, "we should talk," she suggests and sensing it has to do with Jamie and what happened last night, I was a bit reluctant since I've been hired to represent Clyde.

"I'm representing Clyde Daniels," I answered with a grim expression because, even if, it's the last thing I want to do, l made a deal with the f**king devil.

Reacting with the surprise I expected, "then we, really need to talk," she chuckles dryly, securing her Landrover and leading me out of the car park, to the Courts Cafe at the end of the lot.

It was a long walk but she was talking non-stop but then, who am I to stop her when my mind kept reflecting on Jamie and our argument this morning, or maybe it's more like my argument with Jamie, this morning.

"So did Jamie tell you what I found out this morning?" Judge Delany ask as the waiter who took our order leaves to put it in.

Shaking my head because I have Jamie's phone so what conversation did they have? The last conversation they had, was last night.

"Well as you know Jamie called and ask me to help get her sister out of Clyde Daniels clutches. According to the court she was a ward of Mr. Daniels Senior, so with this information, the state had to get involved." The more she spoke the more agitated I became, but I had to bare it and participate in the conversation.

Chuckling as if I knew what was so funny, "imagine he was raided before I got to work this morning to organize a court order to bring Jessica in." Shaking her head in disbelief, she turns to smile at the waiter, who returned with her tea and my coffee.

Wait! What?

"Thank you," I nod politely to the waiter, needing to get back to the conversation concerning the raid at Clyde Daniel's residence.

"Are you saying you didn't organize the raid?" I asked and for some reason I already felt remorseful because I knew the answer.

All she wanted was her good for nothing sister to be safe from Clyde, which could have been done without a raid.

Why a raid?

"Why a raid?" I asked slowly, watching Judge Delany stir her tea while my coffee is still untouched.

I believe I really f**ked up today!

Lifting her cup, she took a few small sips while I wait impatiently for her to continue.

"A worker from a bakery call the police, claiming she saw Jessica being mishandled by a man. When the officers visited the business premises and ran the camera they saw a scene in the car park that cause some concern since the young woman in question, is underage, according to the worker at the bakery who claimed to have known Jessica since she was a child." Judge Delany give a full account of what the Cops told her.

Mrs. Phillips?

Leaning back against my seat, "I didn't know," I admitted, already repenting for my outburst against Jamie this morning.

I don't mind my parents not forgiving me but not Jamie.

Jamie's not going to let go of this so easily, that's something I'm sure about.

"You okay?" Judge Delany asked as I got lost in my own thoughts.

Shaking my head, unable to hide my resentment. A resentment I felt against my own stupidity.

"I blamed Jamie for the raid, which lead to a big argument," I admitted, ashamed to meet her gaze. Scuffing, "actually, I had an argument with myself" with a remorseful glint in my eyes, "Jamie was surprise and hurt by my outburst but at least she stood her ground," I smirk.

Laughing heartily, "I don't envy you one bit." She responded.

"I have a lot of making up to do." I tell her.

Still laughing, "yes you do, so you can start with flowers." She suggested, "a gift and a romantic dinner." Judge Delany's added, observing me curiously, "when was the last time you guys had a date night?" Leaning forward she wait for my response.

When I didn't immediately respond, Judge Delany gasped. "That long, huh? Wow!"
