CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE

"Jamie!"

"Logan!"

We both said, simultaneously!

Nodding for Jamie to go first, she smiles that same beautiful soft smile I fell in love with.

"Are you cheating of me?" Jamie asks with a confused expression creasing her eyes and forehead, her lips turned down, sadly.

I couldn't hide my surprise at her question. Shaking my head, confused, I quickly walked over to her.

Is that what she thinks? How can she even consider, me cheating on her is a possibility?

"Sweetheart, I don't have that kind of gene in me. I don't know how to love more than one woman, unconditionally and if we have a girl, I'm going to have to learn how." I informed her, kneeling infront of her and wrapping my arms around her hip.

Nodding her head consistently , "okay then," she acknowledges my answer. "Are you hungry?" She continued and I frowned at how quickly she changed from her first question.

"Jamie, I'm hungry but I need to shower first and then, we need to talk." I said nodding towards the back door. "We can eat out there." I tell her and again she nods, but this time with a smile.

Kissing her on the head, I headed straight for the shower as I contemplated telling Jamie everything, including Douglar being recruited by my grandfather and her sister to find her. I may leave out the part where I beat the shit out of him.

After about twenty minutes, I returned to an empty bedroom but a quick glance around the room confirms that Jamie is out on the back porch awaiting me.

I quickly dried and pulled on a pair of gray joggers and a gray hoodie before joining her on the outside for breakfast and a conversation.

Jamie was wrapped in a blanket, leaning against the backrest of the full length couch, which she says is from her grandfather days and the long center table laid out with cups and plates with three bowls covered,

"You want get some rest?" I asked as I sat beside her and she quickly opened her eyes and tries to adjust herself to sit up.

"I'm good" she says, reaching out for a plate and uncovering the bowls on the table,

I watched as Jamie dishes out, waffles and hands it over to me.

"There's also bacon and eggs with toast." She says point to the other covered dishes.

Chuckling "yeah, one at a time for me" I said, taking up a fork and instantly started digging into the waffles, my appetite increasing with each bite.

Jamie uncovered another plate revealing an omelette and I frown at her plate and then at mines intentionally, waiting for Jamie's reaction.

Ignoring me, Jamie started eating her breakfast, with a happy and contented smile on her lips and her eyes glued o her plate.

"What's inside bowl number three?" I asked, trying to make light conversation before we got down to the things that's affecting us both.

Staring up at me with a glare, "my desert" she retorts, as if it that was obvious.

Still intent of making light conversation, "your desert?" I persisted as I continued with my waffles, almost cleaning up my plate.

"This sure beats, Ramen soup," I chuckle remembering Bob's choice for an early morning breakfast.

Laughing softly along with me, "I give him from what we were making." She informed me and that's the girl I fell in love with, the perfect woman her grams raised. The girl who always made sure everyone was fed.

"Thank you." I said sticking my fork into her plates and started eating from her plate also.

"Hey" she slaps my hand away, "those" she says pointing to the bacon and eggs, "is yours, and this" she points at her plate, "is mines." she says with a huff, pulling her plate closer to her. "Plus, she points her fork at me, "you never take food of a pregnant woman's plate" she warns and I laugh and the glare in her eyes.

By the time I was on the waffles bowl was empty and so was the bacon and eggs. Jamie did have an extra piece of cheesecake for me, which was actually for me, because she doesn't share her cheesecake now.

As Jamie was about to stack the dirty dishes, I stopped her and did it instead.

Wrapping the huge blanket around us, I drew her closer to me, "foods done now it's time to talk." I nervously reminded her of my promise, but she simply remained silent allowing me to continue.

"Remember the guy I killed when I was seventeen?" I asked and felt her instantly stiffened up.

Jamie didn't answer but looked at me an nodded and maybe it's best for me to speak and her to listen, right now.

"Well as it turns out he didn't die," I added but now I was staring at the grass and trees as far as my eyes could see, my mind returning to that horrible night, when as a young man, on a mission for my grandfather, which ended up being an ambush and Justin and I having to fight for our lives and a way of escape.

The only way out was stabbing Douglar multiple times and then dragging Justin out straight into police custody.

"I met him two nights ago and ended up beating the crap out of him." I continued and since Jamie was still silent.

I only attacked him after he forewarned me that he was sent by my grandfather and apparently Jessica to find you and bring you to them.

Jamie still silent stiffens in my arms once again.

Finally she broke her silence, "would you have shot her if you had the chance?" Jamie ask a question I wasn't expecting during this conversation.

Without hesitating, "yes!" I admitted bluntly.

Taking a deep breath, "Jer said that he would not have given her a second chance." Jamie informs me softly, but just as bluntly.

"I know"
