"Okay! Now that you have selected your two benefits let me update the transmigration system."

Saurina went back to her system and indicated the two benefits starting with the SOUL SYSTEM. She triple checked the soul number associated with the system and opened the intelligence slot. She allowed time to tick one second forward in the mortal plane to separate the consciousness of Lindsay from the soul and placed it in the intelligence slot sealing the system. Then she selected magical attunement as the secondary benefit. Looking through the system she noticed a bonus perk option. She felt that due to her mistake she should provide something extra to help out with this job just to ensure it went okay.

'Well it doesn't say only one can be selected so why not both? If the balance is maintained then the auditing department won't look at this case and I won't have to worry right?'

Looking over the remaining checks in the system Saurina approved the transmigration and sent Jerod and Lindsay on their way to the new planet.

'Whew... that's done. Now I just need to look at the file and try to hide the decimal slip then file it away like nothing happened.'

As Saurina was about to move over to her files she received a soul communication.

"Hello Saurina, this is the floor head god Jarnar. I just wanted to say good luck on your first day! Also someone from the auditing department will be coming by soon to look over some files. Please be prepared and try not to be in the middle of a transmigration to ensure the audit can go unhindered. Thank you!"

Saurina fell out of her chair at this moment.

'The AUDITING DEPARTMENT!!!! How could they come here on my first day? No no no no no! They can't know I messed up on my first case! I need to hide this file!'

Saurina went into panic overdrive looking around the room. She looked at the door knowing the auditor would be coming through there, she looked at the picture of her father on her desk knowing how disappointed he would be if she got fired, her eyes circled the room until finally they landed on her technical manual database.

"That's it! Hopefully there is a way in the database that will tell me how to hide a file until I have time to fix it so that they don't have any issues with it."

Opening the technical manual database Saurina looked through anything that might help until finally she found:

SOUL LOCK

In cases where the soul is working undercover and needs to be locked to the last working god's eyes only a soul lock can be placed on the file. The process of initiating a soul lock is very simple. 'God blood? Ugh I hate pain. I can't draw my own blood. Wait! I remember dad had some tools left over from when this was his office I think I saw a drop of his blood in a vial in the tool set. Let's hope it works!'

Saurina found the blood left behind by her father. It was the last drop in the tools and the only drop she could find. She took the drop and put it on the lock in the file but didn't see any change. The lock was still in the unlocked position.

'Maybe it's because he died? Maybe some of dad's friends will help! They were super nice to me while I was going through training. They also know I hate pain.'

Saurina reached out to three of her father's old friends asking for assistance in a one way soul communication for each at the same time. She didn't want them to be on the same communication and think she was desperate.

"Hello uncle, I am working on a case and the technical manual says I need a drop of god blood. Would it be possible for you to send me a drop? I just can't bring myself to prick my finger for some. Please please?"

The next moment Saurina had three vials of god blood appear on her desk. She looked up to see out her door and noticed an auditor at the end of the corridor. This caused her to start panicking again! She rushed and placed another drop of god blood on the lock but nothing happened. She felt disheartened. She didn't understand why it wasn't working but in her panicked state of mind she placed another drop and finally the last drop. Still no change. The auditor was getting close to her door now.

'No no no no nonononono. I can't let anyone find out! I have to just do it! Maybe it's because I am the signer so it has to be my blood? That is the only thing I can do... if it doesn't work....'

Taking the plunge Saurina pricked her finger and placed it on the lock. At that time the five different god bloods mingled together into the lock symbol. Finally when Saurina removed her finger the blood was gone and the symbol was locked. Taking a mental note that soul locks need to have the god of the last person that signed it to lock it in case she needs to ever do it again in the future she closed the file and noticed that it turned transparent. She knew this meant that it was something in her specific dimension that would only be viewable to her.

Just then the auditor knocked and came into her office.

"Hello.. I am here to audit some old files and account for tools belonging to the previous occupant of this office. Please wait outside while I conduct my investigation."

Saurina stood up and tried to move the transparent file to no avail. Not wanting to seem suspicious she walked outside the office and stood where she could see through the window of her door. As she watched the auditor go through the office. He never seemed to notice the file on the desk and she sighed in relief. It only took a few moments before the auditor came out of the office.

"It seems like there was one thing missing from the previous occupant. There should have been one vial of god blood, do you know where it might be?"

'Uh uh uh what do I say? I can't tell him I used it because he will ask what I used it for and then ask for the file... I have to say something.'

"The god blood? My father's god blood? Uh, I took it to the incinerator to be disposed of."

'Please believe me, please believe me!'

"Hmm, I assume you did not get a receipt... Just like all the rest of the gods outside of the auditing department. None of you have any pride in doing your job 100%. Very well, I was coming to dispose of it. God blood from a god that has returned for the balance can't be used so it must be destroyed. Next time ensure you get a receipt for handling."

Saurina just nodded her head and allowed the auditor to pass by. She sighed in relief and went back into her office. Once she returned she received a soul communication from her uncles.

"Hey little Saur Saur, we just wanted to see how you are doing. We know you asked all three of us for god blood to avoid pricking your finger, we had all agreed before that should you ask we would agree to send you a drop so you could learn a lesson the hard way."

"Thank you uncles. I understand that only the last person signing a file's god blood can be used. I have already used mine. Take it as lesson learned"

"Great! We are proud of you! Let us know if you need any help in a transmigration!"

'Whew.. now that is over. Okay I need to try to edit that file and see if I can make some corrections to the soul number and file it correctly.'

Saurina opened the transparent file on her desk and tried to make some edits to the file. but she couldn't change any information to it. She thought maybe it was because the file was locked so she took the plunge and pricked her finger again to place it on the lock to see that it didn't unlock. Panic rising again she kept tapping the lock to try to unlock the file without any change. She went back to her technical manual database to see if there was something wrong.

MORE INFO: Warning: In case of soul lock the soul belonging to the file will be locked out from any other process. This is to ensure that time is no issue for undercover work. Soul of agent will persist until lock is removed adding the soul back into the balance equation. See also nonstandard soul lock.

'Uh okay so did NOT see that before but it's okay that just means that I need to unlock it or Jerod will be taken out of the balance. Nothing to freak out over. This is okay. How can I remove the lock'

SOUL LOCK REMOVAL

To remove the soul lock please refer to soul lock grades below:

Standard Soul Lock: Last signer of the soul file locks the file using their god blood. Can be unlocked by using their god blood on the lock symbol again.

Nonstandard Soul Lock: In cases of high priority multiple god blood may be used to lock a soul file. In these cases all parties present to lock the file must be present to unlock file. This prevents tampering with high profile undercover investigators.

"WHAT!"

'Nooooo, so to unlock the file I need to get drops of blood from my uncles again? But how do I do that? They just communicated with me talking about how they were teaching me a lesson. What do I tell them when I need a drop again? Wait! I used the last drop of blood from my father too! Unless I can find another drop from him I can't unlock this file at all!'

Saurina was lost on what to do. She starred at the photo of her father and remembered all of the times he let her get away with things that she did wrong so that she could learn on her own. She felt this was just another opportunity to learn how to fix this. The only thing she could do now without giving away how bad she messed up is to just let Jerod know she is trying to fix it.

"Lindsay, I know Jerod is in the process of rebirth and can't talk now. Can you please let him know that there was an error when I was finalizing his transmigration? Can you tell him that his soul is currently locked out of the balance meaning that for now until I can fix the error his soul will be stuck to the mortal plane? He won't die but he will still feel pain so please advise caution"
