Life of a Vampire Author

It is the 22nd February 2022. It is now 12:50 PM. I recently just had a cigarette break after writing for an hour and taking a short break for two more hours by going to Inkstone Discord Server and chatting with other writers. One of the authors that had already been contracted for three of his books on the website of WebNovel asked me if I liked Vampire: The Masquerade.

What a coincidence because of my Discord name, "The Malkavian Fishie", MalkFish. I just wrote about that last night and the other day before. The fact that my book was secretly inspired by V:tM. It's rare to find someone who has the same taste.

I told them that I wrote my own version of Malkvian in my own setting and an extraordinary universe that I created for one novel.

All because I was diagnosed with schizophrenia, Bipolar Type I Disorder, and borderline psychopathy or ASPD.

At first, it started as fanfiction that I thought I could sell without any issue until I heard about the copyright claims from World of Darkness™ on their website. It says that I can write an official story about it.

It is not considered fan fiction for roleplay and entertainment purposes, but it cannot sell it. So, I thought to myself to write something else inspired by it. I changed the whole story, the entire setting, and the whole thing.

I made it my version that it's not considered fanfiction but an entirely different separate universe away from the title under "Vampire: The Masquerade". However, you can sell the books only on their website. I wanted to get recognition, so I worked hard to make my own title without having to copy anything from the fiction game itself.

I'm almost a fraud with a ripoff or bootleg version of VTM. So, I changed many things to make it deeper and deeper to the point that it's not a bootleg anymore. It took me three days to write all 300,000 words. But an entire year to perfect it. And finally, it was ready to be published on WebNovel.

The main plot is not about vampires or anything, actually. It is the definition of insanity. Which is the insanity of the author. The author's mind and his descent to madness.

Spending hours and hours writing during quarantine while shifting to a different reality in an altered state of mind we call Dissociation during a psychotic episode due to too much stress because the author was meant to finally be released from real-life house arrest until quarantine had to ruin everything.

The fact that the author wrote so many hidden signs, subliminal messages, and secret clues and hints decrypted behind the novel to show the actual story is just so deep that no one had ever known the true meaning of why such a madman would start writing random fan fiction of some vampire game into something more profound that no human comprehension can understand? All because of sheer insanity, to be truthful.

But no one yet knows the actual reason for such action.

The author, myself as Klei, is sitting in front of his computer in an unfinished house meant to be renovated. His father is depressed. It was a gloomy day where it was raining, and the clouds of the heavens had covered the morning star, and the sun had hidden its face from the earth's surface completely shyly.

It was the perfect day to shift to an alternate universe before I could lose all senses of my sanity. Or should it be the other way around? It was my only way to cope.

I walked outside and snapped my fingers where reality had broken itself. The universe had collapsed as if torn like paper and reformed by my visualisation with my hands.

And that is where I am finally in an alternate universe while my physical form is staying in the apparent world, writing in front of my desktop computer, my father not knowing I am not there but here in a different dimension.

I went outside the house in the new dimension I've walked into. It is still the exact date, but time has passed to 1:07 PM as I wore my hooded leather trench coat on a stormy day. Walking down the streets of San Juan Nepomuceno.

And walked up to the intersecting roads to the main highway. That's where I entered inside an abandoned warehouse at the back. It was guarded by a dog. But I managed to calm it down with my threatening gaze. It whimpered as I passed through. That's where I saw her.

"Hi, Aniki!" she says.

"Oh, hello, Vayne." I answered, "So, this is where you've been staying all this time."

"Yep! Do you want to go to Guagua?"

"I kindly refuse."

"Kono daga kotowaru?"

"Yes, so much for a JoJo reference. I'm going somewhere better. Where my father and I left off yesterday."

"Downtown? Where dad took you out and you had to follow him everywhere?"

"Indeed so. Not following him, more like I passed him and walked to his destination because I knew where he was going, anyway."

"Right, in San Fernando… can I get a kiss first? You haven't been paying attention to your sweet little tulpa lately, Master~."

"Not right now."

"Refusing to kiss a woman who needs it doesn't make you a sigma male."

"I said no such thing! Now leave me be."

I took off my trench coat and shirt. I broke my wings inside my back out of my skin, where I bled everywhere.

Yet, my white bat-like wings with their sharp talons on each corner were beautiful, yet tainted a bit with my own blood-covered due to coming out of the insides of my back recently. And that's where I flew off to the speed of light.

After taking off to fly as fast as a flashlight, it almost looked as if I teleported inside the church bell tower in Downtown San Fernando City. The Sin City where looks like Kamurocho Tokyo at night. But Sotenbori Osaka by day.

Yet, it is the only no smoking part of the city in all Pampanga. Tobacco selling or distributing is not allowed. Yet, during the nighttime, everyone is entitled to smoke everywhere. It is still illegal, though. However, at night, cops don't give a damn about smoking illegally in the streets of Downtown San Fernando City.

I retracted my wings back inside my flesh, and my skin healed slowly. And then, I wore my trench coat and jumped off to the nearest haystack where no one could see me. I landed on my back on the haystack, so no bones have been broken.

And then, I left the haystack to walk around Downtown. It was still a gloomy day. And I know in this universe I am weak to sunlight. I'm glad it was raining, and there is a terrible monsoon coming up to this area. I hope the town will be safe. But not the people….

And that's where I saw [REDACTED]. His full name is [REDACTED]. A brilliant mind type, but certainly a quiet person. He is empathic and has heart-ful compassion for everyone. He wears casual clothes with no quirky aesthetic, almost normal.

Brown hair and green eyes. With freckles and a bit of acne that is slowly polluting his face, you could barely see any as long as you do not turn to the right side of his face.

He wears glasses and is short-sided due to reading too many books. And there he was, sitting on the bench right outside the church compound. Reading, as usual, I went to talk to him.

"Hello."

"Ah! Voltaire. I didn't see you."

"Please, just call me Dante. What are you reading?"

"Your latest book release. I'm a huge fan! I even followed you on Twitter. Well, at least not yet, because you didn't answer my DMs on Discord. I was asking for your Twitter profile."

"Ah, yes. Thank you. I will leave a DM soon. I highly appreciate your support for me, so thanks. I want to give you something to support me this so far."

"Oh! No need! I am always grateful for your hard work with the books that I- ugh, we enjoy. You don't need to give me anything. I swear."

"No, I insist. Because you've been good to me so far. Here."

I gave him a hardcover book-bound manuscript rather than an actual soft copy book.

"What is this?"

"Well, it was my entire collection of stories since I was a child. You donated and joined my Patreon. I always follow my promises."

"Wait, you didn't tell me that joining your Patreon would give us more stories that you've written. But thanks so much!"

"Of course, I love my adoring fans. Didn't you read the author's note? It says that those who join my Patreon will get additional chapters of my works. Or even better, if I could find my old stories, I would give them to you guys."

"Thanks again! I don't mean to break the 4th wall, but thanks for adding me as a character in this dimension."

"Of course, no problem. I am always obliged to please the people I love. I don't mean to break the 4th wall as well, but once you DM me on Discord in the apparent real world the first time you add me. I want to know more about you on what you can be like in this dimension."

"Sure thing! Bye, Vol- I mean, Dante."

"Ciao."

I suddenly got a notification on my phone as soon as I walked away. It was [REDACTED]. He hearted my WebNovel profile. I looked at him, smiling as he smiled, giving a thumbs up at me.

I scoffed, then just left, walking further away until I was no longer seen. Then I checked his profile so I could hear it, and it turns out he spammed the same comment repeatedly to other people's novels.

Is this a real person or a bot? When I came snapped back to reality, I turned out to be looking at his profile in real-time in the apparent dimension. I hope he's not a bot. He has 0 reading time but reads 15 books.

Joined WebNovel recently, as well as no gender or location. And no introduction. As well as no badges. I came back to the alternate reality to look for him. He was glitching in the matrix of the alternate reality like it's some game simulation.

When I shifted back to the real world and asked Sageash on Discord, a fellow WebNovel friend (Read Sageash's books on WebNovel, he's pretty good). I explained this to him, and he told me this, "Ah, he's one of those…."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"The type of WebNovel readers who only log in to comment. I've seen a lot of these types of people."

Then I went to ask CRIMSON on Discord instead to confirm it (CRIMSON's WebNovel username is WOL1F, check out his fanfics).

He told me, "Nah, don't give, he seems sus."

"Damn, he's such a sussy baka "

Alright, we'll see. I will just continue my walk and go to 7-11 convenience store and buy a Monster drink and a pack of ci- oh right, they banned it here… I should have bought one before I came here. Welp, off I go to walk a whole ass entire mile just to buy one myself.
