Short Story ─ Halloween

Today is Halloween.

So today, I, Rudel, am dressing up for the most wonderful celebration of all.

Scare.

I will wear my scary face along with the costume I wear so as to scare everyone.

It's a good day.

I was in my room at the academy putting the final touches on my costume.

I was a demon king. A vile and ruthless creature who has no regard for anyone.

And that's what I do with my faithful assistant, Ixion, who was wearing bat wings to pretend he was my minion.

At first he took them off, but I pushed him and after being electrocuted several times I got him to wear them after putting industrial glue on them.

Now he was walking around complaining.

"That outfit looks good on you with your usual grumpy face Master."

"Shut up. No one asked for your opinion."

Once my butler-like costume with cape and horns was ready, I left the room.

I wandered around looking for the girls.

The students and teachers were also ready to celebrate.

It was a good day for sure. One where I shouldn't have to worry about things in this game world or avoiding my end.

As I walked through the garden along with Ixion, I noticed a certain group of idiots sitting together with a loli.

They were Erselica's boyfriends.

Warren was dressed as Frankenstein.

Clovis as the werewolf.

Frey as an outlaw.

Chlust as a... wait, why are you naked?!

No. He wears a speedo, but he seems to have a rope tied around his waist and something like a red bib. It reminded me a lot of a legend of a child being born from a peach by the looks of it.

As for Erselica herself, she was dressed like a princess.

I was repulsed to see what this idiot thought she was after all the chaos she caused.

I walked up to them and said.

"Hey idiots, what are you doing?"

Frey was the one who answered me after giving me a threatening look.

"Good afternoon, Count, it's a displeasure to see you."

"Bradford, right now don't bother us. We're on to something really serious."

Erselica came over to me to whisper why these idiots were serious.

"You see... they made a bet about what the queen will say to Liam."

My eyes widened at that news.

"My Queen is here, where?!!"

Erselica and Ixion gave me a nasty look.

"Why do you get excited when they talk about the queen?Oh that's right, you're a degenerate who is sexually attracted to her."

"I'll kill you if you say that again."

"Master, she is telling the truth. I can see how your pheromones increased when you heard Lecia's name. You are indeed a nasty beast."

Seeing that Ixion didn't back me up, I showed my defense.

"Who says I'm excited about why the queen is here, huh!"

"I-I'm just intrigued by what she might say to Liam, that's all..."

"You're definitely the worst."

"Shut up!"

Once Erselica stopped judging me, Ixion accompanied me to look for those two, in the middle of my search, my eyes met who I didn't expect to see.

Liam was walking with a woman by his side, he was dressed in ceremonial clothes, it seems you can wear that too.

While the woman next to him was wearing clothes that covered her entire body, but her splendid curves gave away that she was a succubus as she was dressed.

It was Lecia who was a bit embarrassed.

They noticed my presence and I greeted her.

"It is good to see you on this day that you are strolling the corridors of the academy, my Queen... And you too prince."

Liam looked disgusted by my introduction.

Lecia blushed and said.

"I-I came since today was a day where I could try out those famous cosplays I've heard about. I wanted to talk to Alisa and that's why I came."

"I understand. If you like, we can look for her together."

"Thank you. But I want to use this opportunity to have some mother and son time."

"That time I would use it to be with Erselica and not with you."

I want to hit him. How dare you treat a wonderful, beautiful woman like her like this?

"I want to hit you again."

It was almost dark and the girls were nowhere to be found.

I was starting to get worried.

I sat on a bench in the garden to think if they got into any trouble when I remembered something.

"Right! Bell is with them. Ixion, get Bell."

"That was the first thing I did, but I didn't find them."

I started to freak out more.

Ixion was shaking before he said.

"Speaking of the king of Rome."

In the distance, figures were approaching waving.

The tallest of them all was Bell, she had bat wings like Ixion, but the color of her eye.

A bag with something inside hung over her body.

While the girls next to her.

Alisa was dressed like a vampire. She wore pants and a tie, her decorative teeth were exposed.

While Airi looked like a princess, but the green and blue paint on some parts of her body like those coconut-like lines, gave the impression of a zombie. A zombie princess in other words.

Like Bell, they had heavy bags with them.

I went over to greet them.

"Girls, where have you been?"

Alisa answered me.

"We went trick-or-treating. I've never done this at home and I wanted to try it at least once."

"Rudel-san, it was so much fun! I'd like to do this again!But it's only once a year..."

"Master, I had a lot of fun. Human celebrations are very interesting. They can make fools of themselves and not feel embarrassed."

"Bell... are you saying that for us by any chance?"

"Partly. Wasn't it funny how you seemed to threaten that man to give you candy?"

"I-I didn't know how to ask so my tone of voice was very rude!"

"Then Airi-chan came, you made those children cry."

"It wasn't my fault! She fell down and when I wanted to shake her hand she ran away. The costume I think was too well made..."

Looks like things over there were getting emotional.

"The important thing is that you are here. Let's go inside, there are still lots of things to do."

They nodded and we walked together to the party room.
