Brom was dumbfounded. Some people are stubborn at heart, and he was someone that would never give up on what he wanted. Despite being someone useless, his will was fairly strong and his feelings for Birma were real.
"No! You're not going to marry him! I asked for your hand in marriage before! Your standing doesn't let you marry anyone, why will you marry him? He is a nobody! He might be good with fighting but that's it, he is as useless as me for sure. A nobody is better than a young master with a good name?!" anything he could use to make Birma change her mind was useful, he wanted her to understand that he was better even if it was futile.
"He is the third master of the Lea family! What do you mean useful or useless? He just helped solve all the problems that have been in our family's mind for the last 200 years and you dare say he is useless? He is polite and a gentleman, he doesn't look at me with lustful eyes and listens to what I have to say. How dare you compare yourself to him? You're just a speck of dust while he is the golden throne where Emperors wish to sit! Get out of my face if you don't want me to make your head roll!" as Birma finished speaking she turned around and apologized to Lufti, only for them to move forward and keep continuing with the guided visit.
"Young Master Brom, we better go talk with the family head about this. You haven't heard about the new Lea family have you? Allow me to say, that even if the entire Boer family tried to fight them, we would lose without touching a single strand of their hair. Please, reconsider young master" said the captain of the guards that were accompanying Brom.
"Fine! We will leave for now, but he is a nobody compared to me. I'll show it to the entire Boer family!" said Brom as he mounted his horse and left.
These kind of people were the ones the Lea family wanted to get rid of or change. They were aware that there were rotten fruits at the feet of every tree no matter how excellent it was. The reason for these rotten fruits to be there was the lack of care put into the tree. But it wasn't necessarily bad, since they would become new trees or nutrients for the main tree. Right now, Kyus was surrounded by rotten fruits and that would not bring any benefits to the city.
That is why, in order to help Kyus city grow as a whole, they first had to take care of the whole tree and clean it's surroundings. Spotting the rotten fruit and picking it one by one in order to throw them far away was one of the first things to do.
Lufti was aware of this, and these guided visits were also for that. To have a preliminary idea of who was being useful and who was useless. If the people that were deemed useless could change, they would help them improve themselves and help their family for the benefit of the whole city. If they couldn't, then they had no choice but to dispose of them.
Lufti realized that he was spacing out, as he turned his head to the left and saw that Birma and his sister were calling his name. "I'm sorry, I was deep in thought about something else. My deepest apologies" said Lufti as he bowed towards them.
"Oh no, it's okay. I am the one that was trying to apologize. The fact that my cousin acted so rash is the lack of discipline he was shown when he was little and regarding this, it's my Boer family's fault. Once again, I am sorry about what happened. I just wish this doesn't jeopardize our relationship and cooperation" replied Birma with a smile on her face.
'As I thought, she is really beautiful' thought Lufti as he coughed a bit to cover his blushed face "Oh no, no, what incident might you be talking about? I don't think I remember anything happening" said Lufti as he smiled back at her.
The Boer guided visit continued, without any problem. Meanwhile, in the Kriger family meeting Room, Cesar and Cyrus were hitting the table with all their might. They had informants in all the families that were bought with different bribes, and the one in the Boer family just told them that the plan he had to make the Boer and the Lea family become hostile failed.
"They can only raise cattle and plow the fields after all. We need someone smarter for the next approach. We can't rely on anyone else but ourselves. Father, what do you think we should do? I was thinking about increasing the soldiers training and even trying to send them outside the walls to gain strenght so they can fight those 3 monsters"
"We can do that, or use more underhanded methods. Poison, assasinations, love. As you know, they are young and while they are strong they are inexperienced. We can deal with them easily if we divise enough ways. I am sure that they will fall in one of our traps sooner or later".
The previous gloomy room became bright once more. Laughter filled every inch of it, as these shroud people devised malicious plans to take care of 3 'monsters'.
They were puppeteers and were going to use everything in their hands in order to make the Lea family fail.
