Aaron's Death

I was standing next to Aiden and looking at my own toes, as if there was something interesting in those black ankle straps I had on me. Indeed, there was nothing unusual to see there, I was just too scared to put my head up and look into the eyes of all the people who came for Aaron's funerals. He was too young to die so soon, and his death was so unfair. I was scared those people will blame us for killing Aaron, or doing nothing to revenge his death. Probably, that was the reason Victor asked Aiden to make a speech and tell the truth to make sure Aaron will be revenged.

Aiden let go of my hand, and came closer to the tribune that was standing on the right of the coffin, and cleared his throat to the microphone. I expected any reaction: madness, anger, disapproval, but not silence. All the werewolves who gathered in this room just put their heads up, looking at Aiden silently. It was at least strange to me, however I just forgot who Aiden was, and that could explain why the reaction was silence and not all of those I expected.

"I'm Aiden Moon, the Alpha of the Moonflower Pack, and I came here with my mate, Letty Black, the daughter of the Alpha of the Black Forest, to pay my respect to Aaron Taylor. He agreed to the request of his Alpha, Victor Gray, to help me sniff the strangers that were chasing my mate. Aaron was a skilled sniffer, he was doing his work excellent all the time, and I was working with him a few times before to be sure in my own words. Aaron's death was so unfair, but I want to make you sure we already planned everything to revenge for his unfair death. We know who is that one who killed Aaron, and we know how to catch him and make him pay for the unfair death of the great sniffer whom Aaron was. Rest in peace, Aaron Taylor," Aiden bowed his head down and the deathly silence hit the room. Then, he came closer to me and took my hand. I sighed and stepped closer to him, slightly touching his shoulder with mine.

There was a dinner organized in the Pack House after Aaron was buried. I didn't go to the cemetery, and stayed with other female werewolves in the Pack House to help serve the table for a dinner. While serving the table and helping with the food and drinks, I met Aaron's girlfriend, Sara. She was a very nice girl, was very proud of Aaron going to help Aiden and me, and wasn't mad at any of us for the death of her boyfriend. On the contrary, her pleasant words about Aaron, his job and her understanding of the whole situation brought my normal state back. I wasn't scared anymore, and was pretty confident that everything that happened should happen sooner or later, and we can't neither control it nor change.

At the dinner, Aiden and I were sitting next to Victor, and if not to take the entire atmosphere of sadness into consideration, it was just a friendly dinner.

"Mr. Moon, may I ask a question?" Sara, Aaron's girlfriend who was sitting right next to Victor at the head of the table, looked at Aiden. He put his fork aside, took a sip of orange juice, and nodded. Sara leaned closer, "You said at the speech as you were working with Aaron a few times before. May I ask how have you met?"

"We met for the first time when my father was the Alpha, and asked for sniffers from other Packs to train our newly-made sniffers team. Our fathers were friends as well, so Victor's father, who was the Alpha at that time, send the most skilled sniffers, among which Aaron was. Indeed, he was young but very skilled and almost the best one. I was watching at the training and learning something as well. There I met Aaron," Aiden made a pause and looked at Victor pouring whiskey at his glass, "No more alcohol, Victor. I'm driving back to the Pack."

"No, you stay here my dear friends, and drive back to the pack in the next morning," Victor said, pouring whiskey now to his own glass.

"You know we can't do that, we should organize the camp and everything we planned for it." Aiden protested, then turned back to Sara, "Then, after a few years, I became the Alpha and asked Aaron to sniff anything about my missing mate. I asked him for a favor two or three times after that. He never refused my request and always brought the best results."

"I heard that you can be trained to become a sniffer? May I be trained and continue what Aaron was doing?" Sara suddenly turned her head at Victor. He put the glass of whiskey he was about to drink back to the table, then looked at her.

"Actually, if to be honest, training for the sniffers start at the childhood or teen years, but regarding the situation we can make an exception for you," Victor looked at Aiden, "What do you think?"

"It would be fair," Aiden answered, then looked at me, and kissed my hand, "And what's your opinion?"

"I'm not that much competent at those question, but I think it would be fair against both Aaron and Sara," I said, then took a sip of wine, and looked at Aiden, "Can we drive back to the Pack? I feel very tired."

"Let me show you my house, dear friends," Victor suddenly stood from the table and took Aiden's elbow, "You can both rest in the guest room."

Victor was so stubborn that neither me nor Aiden were allowed to drive back to the Pack. He led us to his house that wasn't far away from the Pack House, and gave us the guest room. I was so tired that I fell at the bed and closed my eyes till the early morning.

~Aiden~

Victor's house was modern as his Pack House, made from bricks, with a lot of symmetrical windows, with a large front door, and high ceiling. The house had two floors, dungeons, and a room on the roof. There was also a big balcony on the second floor leading to the forest. There, Victor and I were drinking whiskey and talking. Since no one was left around us, we could have a talk about anything. And the most interesting topic for Victor was Letty and our relationships.

"So, you found her father's hut, and you were there alone?" Victor asked with a hint in his voice to a dirty side. I put the collar of my black shirt aside and showed him an old mating mark on my neck.

"I'm having it for quite a long three years. She put me it from jealousy not so long before her father's death and her forced moved to Dallas. I was able to put her mark only two days ago when we were at her father's hut," I said, and took a sip of whiskey, "I didn't want to force her to anything. I wasn't even sure she'd choose me again."

"But you were in love all this time, no? Your wolves were in love and missing each other?" Victor asked with a deep understanding in his voice. I nodded and took another sip of whiskey.

"Indeed. But her human part wasn't connected with her werewolf part, it was dangerous to force her to anything, as she'd understand me wrong. Hate is the last thing I wanted to have from her," I said, then looked at Victor, "So, when there will be your wedding, mate?"

"My what? Have you completely lost your mind, Aiden? Me and marriage? No way man."

"So what about the Alpha Couple ruling the Pack?" I chuckled, seeing his offended reaction. Victor was always not stable when it comes to the love affairs, and as far as I know he rejected his mate when they were teens and haven't found his other one yet.

"That's all just the legends, mate. You're ruling the pack for the three years already. Has anyone ever asked you about your Luna?" Victor took a greedy gulp of whiskey, and without waiting for my answer went on, "I don't understand why we're forced to rule in couples? What can Luna make or give the Alpha can't?"

"It's not about ruling in couples, Victor. It's about having the closest person who can give you advice from another perspective, as Luna is at first a woman, a mother, and the one who's responsible for the female part of the Pack. She can take care of those things you'd never even thought about, but all together it will make the Pack better," I answered and took a deep sip of whiskey. Victor looked at me, then frowned and turned his head away to the forest, thinking. I led on my speech, "It's also about making your own family, loving your Luna and raising children, giving the example for the others. Alpha, as well as Luna, are both examples to all the werewolves in their Packs. Have you ever thought from this perspective?"

"I've never thought about that so globally," he answered in a while, then took a sip of whiskey and looked at me, "Children?"

I chuckled.

"Little ones running around and screaming "Daddy, daddy,", and then you turn red from head to toes when they interrupt and important meeting by running inside the room without a knock." I put the empty glass to the railing, "Will you be the godfather to my children if I'd ask?"

Victor suddenly turned to me and widened his eyes in shock.

"Is… Is Letty pregnant?"

Sorry for not updating for so long! The first premium story takes too much time and effort. I'd try to update once a week. Hope you enjoy reading it!
