"So you lied to the Emperor?" His son saw his father in a new light. This man never lied to anyone, ever. But he spouted such a big lie to the Emperor for the sake of a little girl.
"That little girl has powers, we all know that. She is probably a Magi. But not many are left. I fear that some people might harm her if they find out about her existence. To tell you the truth... Only Weiming can protect her." He looked at his grandson seriously. "Your powers will grow with time. One day you will make a choice to protect the royal blood and Empire, or you can make a choice to skip being a general, just like your father did."
Wang Weiming shook his head. ''Father knew since his young age that he didn't want to be in the army. But I, on the other hand, do not mind.''
General Wang nodded. ''But in case she would need you...?''
''I would just take her with me and protect her all the time by my side.'' Wang Weisheng just thought about it simplified, making both his grandparents and parents completely speechless. How do you want to protect the girl in the mid of a war? Is he crazy?
He was about to drink his tea but froze in motion as he felt daggers flying towards him from their eyes. He looked up and saw them angrily staring at him. ''What now?''
''She is a girl. You can't take her with you to war. If she gets scared and dies out of the fear, what will you do?'' His grandmother tried to calm down while rubbing her temples.
Wang Weiming nodded. ''In that case... In that...case...'' He thought about many options and gave up. ''I don't know what is the right answer. Grandma, how did you survive without grandpa?''
His grandfather jumped from his seat, but she stopped him. With an angry expression, he sat down and chose to ignore this child while his wife patted his arm.
''Child, your grandfather is an amazing General. Do you think someone would dare to come and make trouble with me if I have him as my backing?'' She calmly explained. ''And on the end, he is a Wang. Who dares to touch Wang's? They are famous for stubborn and revengeful. Do you think anyone wants to have such a heavy burden on their neck.''
Wang Weiming sighed. ''Is that even enough to stop some people from trying to get us off of our position? We are so high for such a long time. I am sure there must be many people hating our guts.''
His father chuckled and his eyes became icy. ''Of course, there is. A long time ago we were pushed to have multiple concubines and the war in the house never ended. But in the last few generations, our family just refused to take some unrelated people into the family and earned much hatred from royals. Each one is trying to control us in a certain way.''
''Yes. I know. But how should I protect her?'' He was curious. He couldn't think about anything logical that might help her.
''If she is a Magi and learned enough, she might be able to protect herself and all of us good enough. In olden times they would kill young children that had powers, so there is so little of them left. I heard there is a girl born a few years back with Magi powers. Now everyone is keeping their eyes on her.'' His grandfather shook his head. ''But if you think that is a good thing, you are wrong.''
Song Luli, his mother, sighed. ''We have to find her the books for her to learn about her powers. But we can't do it openly.''
Wang Weiming chuckled. ''Then let's look for books in pretence to gift it to the little Magi you just spoke about. No one would wonder that we want to be on her good side as well. Then we can copy the books, bring the copies to the child and originals to Li Na.'' He wanted Li Na to have the originals.
His grandfather suddenly shook his head. ''No. What if Li Na in the future has the wrong impression of such an action? Would you like it if she did a similar thing in her world?''
Thinking about it Wang Weiming's face became dark and he threw that idea away again. ''Then we can search for books in secrecy.''
Everyone agreed and Wang Weiming left. While he was walking back to his room, he was thinking about what he could gift to her. He met her just twice and all he knew is that she was interested in medicine... Maybe he could give her 'that'? He has no use for it.
With a big smile, he rushed to his room, locked all doors and then opened the secret compartment in one big statue he had near the door. Inside was a small box and he smiled brightly. ''I am sure she will like this. Even in our world, this is rare.'' He patted the box and put it back inside the secret compartment and then sat down on his chair with a big smile.
He was so happy as he knew that he had something for her as well.
While the Wang family was making plans for Li Na, in her world people had a problem with the marriage.
''What did you say? She married who?'' Li Chen was now unreasonably furious.
''The current CEO of the Magellan Group. Luke Coleman. He even went a step further. He adopted Li Na.'' The man across him sat with crossed legs and nonchalantly drank tea. He looked at him fearlessly and smiled sarcastically. ''You are too late. If you try to move now against Lei Na and Li Jing, you might get into bigger trouble that you wish for yourself.''
Li Chen looked at the man with red eyes and saw him standing up. The man chuckled as he saw his icy expression.
''Li Chen, you are a fool. I did indeed help you take over the company but did you make it bigger or better? No. No wonder your father never gave you the company, even tho you were an older brother. Now I understand. He sent you to all the schools he could, but you didn't learn any of it. He gave it to your younger brother, even tho it was not his wish. How foolish of me to believe that older is better. I lost money. Tsk tsk. Soon my people will come to take the money you and your company owes me. I hope you are ready.'' He patted his jacket, even tho there was not even one speck of dirt on it and left without saying goodbye.
He left a grey-faced Li Chen in his office and smiled as he came out of the company. ''Stupid.'' That was the proper name for this man. Now the company will be his soon...
