CHAPTER FOUR THE NEW IDENTITY

At the hospital lies beautiful Sapphire who isn't aware of where she is. The nurses were ordered to attend to her each an everyday to take care of her. That morning after the nurse on duty was done, while leaving, she accidently switched off the oxygen machine after receiving an urgent call from her boyfriend━immediately she left, a blond; size six girl quietly and secretly walked into Sapphire's bed. She examined her if she had any slightest opportunity of waking up. Fortunately she found none, without further delay she called her boss and reported the situation to him. "Sir, the girl lay unconscious as l speak to you now. I see no chance of her waking up anytime soon." She said.The boss at the other end ordered her to kill her. "That isn't good enough for me lady! You kill her now. I do not want any mistake. That has been your feed back for the past seven months now. Which means she will wake up soon. The bitch has refused to give up! Obviously she's fighting for her life. Do you know what happen to those who fight? They win! Now you better kill her." He ordered and cut the line off. She turn toward Sapphire, who was still laying unconscious on her bed.━satisfactorily she walked toward her and glanced at Sapphire who suddenly started struggling for oxygen. She smiled, "l don't have to do a thing, the stupid nurse had done it for me already." She whispered into Sapphires ear and walked out as fast as her legs could. "Sorry, excuse me ma 'am; is there any Miss Sapphire Felix Anderson here?" May asked the nurse in attendance. Matthew couldn't wait for his mom, immediately the nurse told them, he hurriedly left his mom to the room where Sapphire has been admitted. "Son, wait up!" She shouted at him.But he just couldn't. He's having a strange feeling, seeing Sapphire was all he could think of. "Mom, you've got to hurry up. I've got this feeling, a very bad feeling." Matthew said not even glancing at his mom.He rushed in and found Sapphire battling with her life and death was very much calling her. She has been losing oxygen."Oh my God ! Sapphire ! Calm down baby...breath....breath.....I'm here, my mom is here━we are both here for you. Calm down, you've got us and we've got you." Matthew kept on telling her, after he had properly fixed up the oxygen mask on her. "Umm.... Baby, l think we should call the nurse or doctor to come attend to her." May suggested. "How about we pray. That is the suggestion you should be suggesting." Matthew replied angrily. "Fine, fine, so pray. Go on. Or better still breath your oxygen into her." She said, waving her hands to the empty sky. "Mom! It has not gotten to that." Matthew pleaded. "Oh yes it has." May said and smirk..... "I am not kidding, because your around your girlfriend l should play churchy, right?" "I never said you should you know..." "Can both of you lower your voices please." Sapphire pleaded in a debilitated tune. Matthew nearly jumped out of his clothes. It was unexpected. "Sa...pphi...rre! Is that you?" Matthew stammered. "Nahh! I doubt it, l think it her ghost!" May sarcastically replied. "You are unbelievable ma." Matthew stated and covered his body around his mom━he couldn't believe his eyes. Tears rolled down his cheeks. He couldn't help it. May hurried out, lucky for her she met a doctor coming out of the A & E. "Excuse me! Excuse me sir! A patient who has been in coma just woke up." May explained. "What room?" The doctor asked. "Follow me...." She told him and led the way to the ward Sapphire was. Matthew was still consume with shock.He turn towards Sapphire, "O.M.G!" Hscreamed. "You do not have any idea how happy l am right now. I thank the stars for bringing Sapphire bellicose back." He stated and gave her an embrace. "Thankyou lord. Umm.... Sapphire, are you alright? I mean are you feeling any pain or anything other than you being feeble?" Matthew asked compassionately. Matthew was lost. He became a detective over her━as he kept on asking her question over questions, Sapphire threw him an unexpected question. "Do l know you guys? What am l doing in a hospital. What is wrong here?" Sapphire asked, expressing how discomfit everything seems to her. Matthew was shocked and awed. He looked at the puzzled Sapphire and asked to be excused. "Sapphire, this is my mom. I'll love to excuse myself and have a word with my mom, is that alright with you?" Matthew requested. "Sure," She looked at the woman in front of her. There's something fishy about her, "When you get back, promise me you'd tell me who l am. Please?" Sapphire pleaded. "Sure thing babe." Matthew replied and hurried out of the room with his mom. I think l should use this opportunity, to get a girlfriend.He followed his mom behind. I know l can't remember anything but how on earth am l dating this guy? Dressing old school is cool but l just feel that it is his daily dressing. Maybe l should call the nurses station. Sapphire thought. This doctor doesn't look genuine. She took off the oxygen after all she is fine now, very capable of breathing on her own━Matthew was the one who forced her to put it back own.She walked to where the phone has been kept, she looked around the desk that the telephone was kept━to see if there's any number kept for emergency purpose, luckily she found the nurses station number. Without hesitation she dailed it. "Sorry ma'am, you should lay down and rest. I need to give you your daily drugs." The doctor suggested. "No thankyou, I'm fine." "Who are you calling?" Sapphire didn't respond, she just went ahead with the phone call. "Hello, please ma 'am is it Okay if you send a nurse down to bed fourty-nine in room five." She requested. "Bed fourty-nine in room five is in coma, please ensure you've got the right information of where you are." The nurse replied confused. Everyone has given up on that patient, so how can she be awake and worse be making phone call. "We all know she is her last moment." The nurse told Sapphire. "I'm very sure of this information. Yes, l was in coma and maybe━just maybe on my last moment, but l just woke up and the people here don't seem to be my family members. Though l can't remember or tell if l do have a family, but these ones here aren't mine. Can you do me a big favour and call my family and tell them I'm awake please?" Sapphire demanded with teary-eyes. "Okay then, give me few minute let me find out about your family members, for you were brought in seven month ago by our ambulance━and no one has visited you other than your school mate━not even your relative." The nurse explained. Immediately the call ended. The nurse picked up her phone and called the boss to inform him about the situation on ground. "Sir, she's awake, the goodnews is; she's having amnesia." The nurse said cheerfully. "l told you she shouldn't wake up, so how is her alive and having amnesia related to the order l gave to you?" The boss yelled in anger. "But sir, her not remembering anything is good as her being dead. I promise you, you've got nothing━absolutely nothing to worry about sir━so when am l getting paid?" She explained with a request though scared, for she doubt if she'll be paid. "l never made a deal with a fool. The boss said and hanged up the phone. The nurse kept mute for a while and decided not to attend to Sapphire. After few minute of private discussion with Matthew and his mom, they came back to find her all dressed. "Sapphire, you barely remember anything━which is obvious that you have amnesia, so please where do you plan on going all dressed up, Or do you remember anything now?" Matthew stated worriedly. "Look, the truth is, l can't tell if we are together. And l need to go find my family." She said amidst tears. "Of course we are." Matthew insisted. "No your not! Okay fine, look Sapphire; the truth of the matter is that your family are no more. I hope you forgive my son for lying to you." May told Sapphire hoping to calm her. Matthew understood what his mom was trying to do. He walked up to Sapphire. At her state truth should be told no matter how bad it sound, or else lies one day will hurt the liar━and he definitely doesn't want to be at her bad side. "Sapphire, l apologize for lying to you. I just thought lying is best but l see now it wrong. So I've discussed with my mom and she agrees that you'd stay with us━until you get your memories back. We were hoping it Okay with you, is it Okay we go together?" He asked cheerfully. "Your trying to say, l should live with you guys? After you've lied to me?" She asked having a mix feeling of hope but also worried. "You don't like it ?" May asked curiously. "l do; just that, I'll be a burden to you guys━and l don't know if l should trust you guys." She declared and looked over to the supposed doctor, who was lying on the floor. "Did you do that?" May asked impressed. "Maybe." She replied smileful, seeing the reaction of May. "So your coming with, right?" Sapphire kept quite, obviously she was thinking. "Comeon Sapphi, l insist, look; the best way to remember is to stay with someone that knows you better. What do you say?" May encouraged. "So you think your son knows me?" She asked keenly. "A guy who crushes on a girl knows,her better than herself. Don't you agree?" "Okay ma'am, I'd take my chances then. Thankyou so much. I really do appreciate." "You can't leave yet." The nurse on station entered obviously against the grain. I wonder what l was thinking, if she goes with them and remember what the boss doesn't want her to remember, I'm dead sure he'd kill me and all whom l dearly love. I either end her now or lose everything l ever have. The nurse on station thought. She walked up to them telling them not to leave. "Why if l may ask?" Matthew asked. "My mom will pay the hospital bills, all you guys have to do is give her a discharge; that all." Matthew added. The nurse lack words to convince them.May observed the nurse vehemently. The nurse seem to be sweating when the air conditioner is on. Why? Something is up here. "Nurse are you Okay?" May asked walking intimidatedly towards her. The nurse could feel the intensity, she decided to act up. "Umm... Okay." She said with her head buried to the ground. "You can go, but do not forget to take the hospital bank details from the cashier━to send the bills. As they left, the nurse walked towards the bed, but her leg hit a body. She looked downward and froze. I am doom. The nurse thought. She dashed out to get a doctor, when she recognized the imposter to be Regina.
